Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hi, Welcome to Desperately Devoted, the Ultimate Desperate Housewives.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Rewatch, hosted by me, Terry Hatcher, my on screen daughter
Andrea Boonene, and my real life daughter Emerson Tenny. We
are back for our Deep Dive x y Z episode.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
We take off my swatter.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah, I think we're all like a little hot in
here because we are still here with James Stanton and
Jamie Dinton, and we are here for our Deep Dive
x y Z episodes and we just want to hear
like all the sexy.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Stuff that you didn't tell us.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
Doing our other interviewed after dark.
Speaker 6 (00:39):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Everybody has to lower their their voices lower lower than.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
I'm a little horse this week anyway.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
So wait, you said something about seeing me in my underwear.
Speaker 6 (00:48):
Well, I get horse. I just sound like Bill Clinton.
I did not have sexual relations with that woman.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
He's not talking about me.
Speaker 6 (00:56):
I guess I am.
Speaker 5 (00:57):
I guess you are.
Speaker 6 (00:59):
Well. I was going to mention. The first thing comes
to mind is the first time we were in bed, okay,
and you had I remember it well, you had on
some like a nighty thing and we still, I mean,
we didn't get really close very quickly because it's so
I mean, there's are one people, it's so professional, and
you come in, you do your job, and you leave.
And you were this is not much after after dark talk,
(01:19):
but you were so obsessed with Emerson getting home, and
I remember you were so so there wasn't a lot
of personal stuff, so you don't know, there's a kind
of a it's a little bit cold, new to these scenes,
and you're like worried about the crew and it's not however,
it was when you're you know, working with you and
(01:41):
this all sounds like I'm just you know, that's a
Terry Hatcher fan club. It's one of the things that
I knew was going to be fun. I was looking
forward to. And you this is going to be weird
after you've seen you in so many things and movies
and shows, and now we're going to be like taking
our clothes off and getting in bed as much as
they would let us. And that scene you actually got
on top of me. And this was the first one.
It was one where you were really coming on strong.
(02:03):
So Mike, I remember you stood in the doorway of
the bathroom and when like trying to spice things up
or something. But I remember very specifically, you got on
top of me and I remember, I know, and I remember,
and I had on boxers and that was it. And
I remember saying to you, you know, if something happens
down there, I'm really sorry, and if nothing happens, I'm
(02:27):
really sorry. But then sure enough, if you like get
into it. And there's a point where yeah, you I mean,
people say this all the time, and it doesn't matter
if you're married or not married or whatever, and nobody you,
I mean, whatever chemistry we had. If I were a
person that had affairs, which I didn't on the show
and didn't with you, you wouldn't have none of it.
(02:47):
You were very You kept a real respectful distance, and
we would always talk about it, even in those situations. Specifically,
you would bring up my wife just because, like just
to remind us both, not that we needed it, but
I appreciated that because it made it so easy. But
that day it was funny, because you do sometimes there's
a reaction and the physical part of it kind of
(03:09):
if you're it all acting, which is just you know,
living in imaginary circumstances. Truthfully, there was some truth. So
I'm slowly like kind of getting your your hips up
on my thighs, like creating some space because I was like, okay,
this all this time, I've heard that these scenes aren't
(03:31):
real and nothing, but it was. And so the whole
thing became about being respectful. You not like feeling anything weird,
and that's not doing anything that's untoward.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
And yet Mike was a little wooden after all.
Speaker 6 (03:47):
Yeah. So finally final and they're accurate.
Speaker 7 (03:53):
Yeah, because this is obviously prior to things like intimacy coordinators,
which are now.
Speaker 5 (03:59):
Sets. Yeah, it's nice.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
It's nice that.
Speaker 7 (04:01):
You wanted to create something so real and honest but
also always be so respectful and professional.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
I'm trying to think of other times in my career
when this has come up, and like, I'm immediately thinking
of the movie Heaven's Prisoners that I did. By the way,
had you ever seen me naked in anything before you
met me and before we did these scenes?
Speaker 5 (04:22):
I did was the most downloaded image.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
But I wasn't naked in that. I was wrapped in
Superman's case. Answer, because I had. I had been naked
in a couple You said, yes?
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Was it the Internet? I mean, because it's there.
Speaker 6 (04:39):
The internet was new when the show started almost two thousand.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Well, we didn't have Instagram and Twitter and all that
stuff there, so it's not that hard to find it,
I know.
Speaker 6 (04:54):
And the dark.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Naked has any good Southern boy would say so.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
In the movie Heaven's Prisoners, there was a scene in
the movie where this character comes out onto this few
you know, this balcony, Yeah, like a plantation mansion balcony, naked,
and there was It's what I remember about this was
(05:30):
we waited.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
This was you know, on movie sets.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Like this did not happen on Desperate Housewives, on a
movie set like this, this was Alec Baldwin, big movie.
We waited seven hours for the clouds, for the DP
to be happy with the clouds passing over the sun
the way he wanted the lighting to be, so we
just didn't shoot anything. And then I was going to
(05:54):
walk out onto this balcony and the characters thing was,
this is how confident and dominant I am, you know,
kind of a big f you to everybody like that.
I don't care what you think. But I'm back off
stage going like I think I need ice for my
nipples because like it's too hot.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
We're in New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
It's one hundred degrees and humid, and I don't think
my breasts look good. Well, my nipples aren't hard, So like,
I need to manipulate this whole thing.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
And we really did, like we were.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Were using our nipples.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
I were raising my numbers worse than that.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Yes, I was manipulating.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
You always come up with the good combo words.
Speaker 5 (06:33):
I love those.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Manipulating, that's very good word.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Anyways, So that happened on that I remember similar positioned.
I sat on top of Kevin Bacon in that same position.
It is a big picture, and that was my first
movie I ever did. Chris Gastricht that movie. I had
never been in any kind of situation like that, where
basically Kevin Bacon's a stranger to me at this point
(06:55):
and I have to get on top of him and
sort of simulate sex.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
We were clothed.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
How old were you twenty four?
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Like so yeah, And I remember I remember thinking what
will I do if something happens down there? Or like
how how? What is the appropriate way to react? Like
that was my first movie. I had no idea what
to do. I never I was so scared and ashamed.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
He was the big movie star.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
I didn't want to do the wrong thing, like you
just live in that space where you don't want to
cause any problems. And I didn't have the words to
even talk about it. So I actually don't know, but
I remember that day that I like got in my
car and like left the set like I was just
like I got to get out of here, Like I
just didn't feel like I handled it right or something.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
I don't know. Not one with me, no, not one,
the one with another one with Kevin.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
I want to go back to the two of you obviously,
okay outside of the bed or maybe you're going to
bring it back there. But you did a lot of
things together, not expressly during filming that I feel like
would be fun to talk about in this you mean,
like banned from TV and from TV or an American
idol together. Right?
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Did you sing before He's the Island? Are you saying
before he cheats on that?
Speaker 7 (08:17):
Right?
Speaker 5 (08:17):
Ideas?
Speaker 2 (08:18):
I remember you were so good, and well, that's unbelievable
that I was good, because that was really so. What
happened with that is there was a stage where I
was trying to get pregnant by myself. I sort of
and this is pretty big secret, Like I don't know
that I've actually talked about this before with ever. You know,
I was doing the whole doctor in Beverly Hills. I
(08:39):
was sperm donor shoot yourself up with hormones like all
the things, and I had gotten pregnant and nobody knew
about it. And then I had a miscarriage and nobody
knew about it and that was awful. And then that
weekend I got an infection and I so I needed
a DNC to lean out my uterus, but nobody really
(09:02):
knew that because I was just carrying on with work
and never you know, you can't call him sick in
the whole thing. And I got like one hundred and
five fever.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
I mean it was American Idol finale and you were
performing together.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yes, So this was the night before that next day
we were going to be shooting with Bam from TV
singing that Carrie Underwood song. And so I ended up
in the ovg y n's office like in secret, like
with nurses coming in in the middle of the night
to like give me a d n C. I don't
even remember, like I know that my we went to rehearsal,
(09:39):
and that rehearsal for the American Idol, I had like
still had I don't think i'd had the Was that
the day.
Speaker 6 (09:46):
Before or the day? I think I think there was
the whole thing the day I think was early the
day in the day. Yeah, because you weren't sure you
were going to get there. I didn't know, I know
know what ing I did until this minute that this
was going on. We just thought you had the flu.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Oh yeah, no, no, no so so yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
So they had done the DNC the night before, but
I still had a high fever and I was like,
I don't even know on what kind of drugs. And
the American Idol people said that they would not let
the band from TV on if I didn't do it,
and I did not want to. Everybody was so excited
and we'd rehearse and it was like such a big
(10:21):
deal American Idol. It was such a big deal for
the band from TV, which, which by the way, is
a charitable band. Like every time they play, they raise
money that they give to charity. It's not nobody's making money.
It's a charity thing. I mean, it's a beautiful cause to.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
Pull together with.
Speaker 6 (10:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
Yeah, we went to Canada Netflix events.
Speaker 6 (10:41):
We win a lot.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Anyways, I went ahead and like took a bunch of
drugs and somehow gone on stage and did it. And
what it's so sweet of you to say that you
thought I was good, because what I remember is the
next morning on the View, Barbara Walters like crucifying, like
being like she can't sing. She was like screeching and whatever,
and and so then you know, I mean, it is
(11:03):
crazy kind of what you remember and how people how
you just don't know what people are going through, and
then just how hurtful it can all end up.
Speaker 6 (11:13):
Yeah, a good lesson is you don't know. Plus it's crazy.
I've never heard that from anybody. Everybody talks about how
great it was, so oh yeah, well okay, now I've
never never heard anybody criticize you.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
So that's oh, you know, lots of people.
Speaker 6 (11:26):
I mean about that performance shots because I knew how
sick you were. I had no idea why that's why
you were sick.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
And that was the end of me trying to have
a child by myself. I just kind of felt like,
no idea I was. I think I was about forty
one or forty two, and I just felt like, yeah,
I guess it's just not supposed to work out, So
I kind of didn't want you to be an only child.
But then I guess it wasn't meant to be story.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
I did know it, but I know nobody else in
this room maybe.
Speaker 6 (11:50):
No, no idea. You were talking about being prepared because
there are actors we all know them, who will take
advantage of those scenes. Oh you'll push it, who grope who? Yeah,
you hear stories all the time about actors, or not
so much actress as usually actors. You hear about the
creepy ones that are like, oh, here's an opportunity for
me to be, you know, under the guise of r.
Speaker 7 (12:11):
The first time I had to do any sort of
like makeout scene like thing was for and it was
tame because it was Lifetime. But I did a Lifetime
movie called Girl Positive, and uh, I think I was sixteen,
so two thousand and six, and there was a scene
that's a sex scene, you know, and I hadn't done
that in real life or on screen yet. And again
(12:33):
it was Lifetime, so it wasn't anything explicit, but it
was I was uncomfortable. I was uncomfortable with the person
I was working with, and it was just not the
best environment, and he told me right before they called action,
just pretend like we're in a porno.
Speaker 5 (12:47):
Oh, he said, oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
And this is why they now have intimacy coordinators.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
I have one question for you.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yes, and when talking about in these intimate means, obviously
you're mostly thinking about okay, we hope like the guy's
not like being.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Creepy towards the ground.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Have you ever experienced like someone coming on to you
in an intimate scene like that?
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Two? Thanks one? One thing before we go, I wanted
our first kiss in the truck, but yes, on Desperate
Housewives happened. And then our first kiss in the truck,
I was like, oh, finally we get to kiss, you know,
and le and I thought it was kind of hot
and I hoped it would be and you could not
have been less interested. Why later, Oh, but at the
(13:31):
time I didn't know this, and you, being you, didn't
tell me or anyone else. And so you know, I
finally lean over and kiss my consus and kiss for
the first time, Like, wow, this is not good. I'm
going to get fired, Like she does not have any
interest in kissing me whatsoever, And all this so called
chemistry is out the window and What did I do?
Did I not brush my teeth? What have I done wrong?
(13:53):
And you didn't tell me until later, And I think
you just didn't want to underlie if she had a broken.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
Rib from falling in the kids.
Speaker 6 (14:00):
She was twisting in the truck. She was turning in
the truck and coming up to leaning over and twisting
at the same time with a broken rib. And I
was like, my son told you, I'm not going to
be on the show for very long. No, because it's
very you just you know, let it go. It's not
you don't point it up. So I was relieved later
to find out you had a broken rib. As far
as someone going too far, it wasn't a terrible story.
(14:22):
And I guess I can say this because the woman's
name is not of the credits. But when when I
marry you the second time, and you're not supposed to
know if it's you or Catherine, when Mike is marrying
you don't know if it's Katherine or Susan, so neither
of you were there. They had an actress who was
Brunette a background, put on a veil and marry me.
And I remember Paul, especially Plannette. He was the one
(14:45):
that made it the funniest. And we was you know,
we would kiss and I would lift the veil and
we had to make sure that no one could see
the face, I know, if it was you or Catherine.
And so I kissed the girl and she was in
it and it's like here and I'm like wait, because
even when you are making out with somebody like Michael Susan,
you don't use tongues and you don't go really fun.
(15:05):
There was this girl's tongue was in my mouth and
it was on and we're like getting married. And also
I'm thinking they can see your face, so it's not
a really much point in your tongue being in my mouth.
And so so we cut into this assaulted the cut
and she like went on and goes, cut means stop
(15:29):
this measure, cut means stop.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Cut means stop.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
Anyway, that was a funny one stop.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
This is en so good, I think, so thank you
so much for revealing revealing stories with x y Z.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
Thank you so much, Thank you again.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Thank you, thank you all.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Just really devoted to you. We'll see you next weeks.
Speaker 7 (16:02):
Mix
