On this week’s episode of Energy Line with Nate and JSB, we kick things off with the unofficial Thanksgiving benchmark for NHL playoff contenders—and why this season might finally break the rule. Then we dig into Mikko Rantanen’s run of borderline hits and what’s going on with his game.

Next, Sharks forward Tyler Toffoli joins the show to talk about playing alongside the insanely talented Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith, living with Michael Misa, his reaction to Anze Kopitar’s retirement, thoughts on life after hockey, and his long-time love for former teammate Jonathan Quick. He also tells us about the massive Thanksgiving he’s hosting for the Sharks—52 people!

Finally, Nate and Julie wrap things up with some thoughts on autograph hounds after a Connor Bedard signing video sparked online debate, plus a look at Jack Hughes’ dinner with pop star Tate McRae.

Enjoy, and we’ll see you back here next week for more Energy Line.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Energy Line is a production of the NHL and iHeart Podcasts.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Welcome on into Energy Line with Nate and JSB. I'd
really sure banks these former NHL R Nate Thompson.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Energy Line is a.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Production of iHeart Podcasts and the NHL and Nate. We
have reached the elusive American Thanksgiving dates in the schedule
where we can figure out if teams are for real
or for not real. And when we look at the standings,
especially for Canadian teams, things aren't looking so good. But

(00:55):
when what's the biggest I guess surprise for you about
what teams are within and that playoff bubble? And as
just for reminder to some of our listeners, usually teams
that are within that playoff bubble are right now at
this point are teams that will end up being in
the playoff bubble come April, although of course there are

(01:17):
exceptions to the rule, as we know with the Saint
Louis Blues and blah blah blah blah blah and the
Edwindon Oilers have defied that every single year essentially. But Nate,
who's been a big surprise for you that's in and
who's also out?

Speaker 4 (01:30):
Well? I mean, I would say that who's in right now,
Probably a surprise would be, you know, Anaheim's at first
the Pacific Division. I think that's a surprise and we
didn't expect that this year. And then I think, you know,
another surprise that's not in would be for me Toronto
and where they're at. You know, they're in tenth place,
they're in last place. But I look at the standings, Julie,
and this year is an outlier for me, like I'm

(01:53):
not holding any weight on this American Thanksgiving. You know,
those are the teams you're going to be in the
playoffs because you look at the league right now with
the exception of Colorado, and the parody is it's insane.
I mean this changes every single day, you know, between
first place to the wild card. I mean look at Toronto,

(02:14):
like Toronto's twenty one points and they're five points out
of a wild card spot and they're in last place
in the East, right So it just I just think
there's too much variability this year, and they're the parody
of all these teams, Like it's a it's going to
be an exciting, exciting time around March when there's a

(02:35):
playoff push and you've got eight different teams jocking for
three spots. It's gonna be pretty wild. I mean, but
I will say, and I gotta give them their flowers.
Is a cow is the ab is a Colorada appalanche?
Like they've been absolutely unconscious and what they're doing, how
they're winning. I mean, I heard a rumor the other

(02:56):
day that Scott Wedgwood is and this is a rumorville,
but like, yeah, he's he's talked his way into conversation
of Team Canada. Oh I believe that, big dam right,
because look look at how good he's been and how
it's like he's got is also yeah, I mean, but
besides Logan Thompson, I mean, Wedge was right there, so

(03:18):
I mean, kudos will call it an avalanche. And what
Nate McKinnon's doing, mccar, I mean, mccar is basically locked
up the Norse Trophy already. You know, It's it's just
it's crazy. So this league, it's it's exciting though I've
never I don't know if I've seen it as even
as this is, and like in the past, like when

(03:39):
I was playing, I don't remember that being this much
parity and it being this close.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
I think you're spot on with this, like when you
especially when you look at the East, I mean, if yeah,
when you look at the East the division like ky
So Tampa right now currently on this Tuesday morning, that recording,
they're in first with twenty eight points, and in I guess, well,
as you said before, Toronto is in last in the

(04:05):
East with twenty one points.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
That's seven points.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yeah, that's just a couple of games here or there between,
you know, first and last essentially. Sorry, in the East
and the Atlantic, Carolina of course is ahead, sorry thirty
Carolina has thirty points Toronto's twenty one. That's still incredibly
insane that those two are that far away in the standings,

(04:31):
but that close.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Do you think that maybe this is a bit of an.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Outlier year or have we maybe been putting too much
stock in the American thanks Giving schedule as being sort
of that delineating line of who's good news not No.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
I mean, I think the numbers in the past have
backed up the fact that the American Thanksgiving benchmark that
that's that's where it starts. But I think this year,
I agree, I think this year is an outlier. I
think it's just the parody how close these teams are
I mean, you know, every night it's it's changed. I

(05:10):
mean I look at a team, even like Montreal. You know,
we talked about Canadian teams, like two weeks ago, we
were talking about them and they were first I think
they were first place in the Atlantic, first place in
the East. And now they're sitting on the outside of
a playoff spot. So you just see that, like you win,
you win three games in a row, you lose three games,
you lose three games in a row, and you're in

(05:31):
and you're out. I mean, that's that's how close it is.
And we usually see that. Well when do we usually
see that? We usually see that in.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Mark Yeah, right, that's down in the stretch.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Right down the stretch. That's usually when we see this.
We see these teams go in and out of playoff spots,
and that's where like, oh it's a playoff race, Okay,
they're in a wild card spot. Oh they're in third, Okay,
they're out of it. They're out of it. Like this
is happening every day and we're we're not even done
with November yet, So I suspect that this is going
to continue all season. I don't, like I said with
the exception of Colorado and maybe Dallas. I don't see

(06:03):
this changing much. I think we're going to have a playoff.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Race the rest the rest of the way, which is
very exciting for fans.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
It's incredible.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Yeah, and it makes it every night is much what
must watch TV. There are some teams who have clearly
made it known that they are not in the race.
We know that the Nashville Predators are in the bottom basement,
base below the basement.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
They're in.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
They're deep, deep down in the ground right there, and
something's got to get But I want to go back
one question.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
So much parody this year, Is there a reason why
you think that is?

Speaker 4 (06:39):
I think possibly, you know, being an Olympic season and
they're you know, I was at the Ducks Bruins games
last last week and I had a conversation with with
Jeremy Swayman after and we were talking and and we
were just talking about the schedule and and he just said,
you know, we were both talking about it. I guess
it kind of goes without saying, but he's like, yeah,

(06:59):
I mean, this season, it's it's about staying healthy. It
really is. With the condensed schedule and you're seeing these
teams sustain so many injuries and important injuries, and it's
kind of like, hey, who can keep their head above
water and tread water with injuries or you know, or

(07:21):
stay healthy? Right Like it's he was saying, you know,
it's we're decimated by injuries. Everybody is, right now. I
think that I think that has I think that has
a factor in it too. I think the fact that
you know, we're in a condensed schedule. There's not a
lot of practice time. You hear different teams and coaches
talk about it like there is there's no practice time.

(07:44):
These guys are playing like every other day, so it's
it's a wild schedule. And I think that has a
I think that does have a hand in this parody
in this in this.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Season right and coming up on our episode of Energy
Line with Nate and jsp we do get a chance
to talk with Tyler to Foley about this specific issue
and it'll be great to get an active players view
on it. And then Nate, you got to think you
have the Olympics, you have that Olympic break for some guys,
but then almost you have another whole new slate of

(08:16):
what's going to happen any guys get injured at the Olympics,
like four Nations last year in particular, you know, God
forbid obviously, but like if anyone depending on who comes
back in what form they're in, or if some guys
are flying high, like you're Conor McDavid having scored last
year in four Nations the overtime winning goal. Like just
different things that kind of factor into the narrative of

(08:39):
this year. It feels as though there's it's almost like
different chapters versus sort of like that that a mountain
that you're trying to climb. It just feels like it's
it's different scenes, Like Okay, this is Act one, then
the Olympics is Act two, and then Act three.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
We have no idea what's going to happen.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Dah Yeah this year, Yeah, this year is a really
good book for the NHL, isn't it. Like I think, well,
it's crazy because you're right, you make you paint a
good picture because we haven't even got we haven't even
talked about the trade deadline too, like you know, add
that in and that's I think I believe that's March sixth,
right after the Olympics, after the Dole check that but yeah,

(09:19):
so I mean add that factor to it. I mean
you add the parody because I look at a team
like San Jose, like, what do you do? Are you
gonna are you gonna trade guys? Are you gonna trade
veteran guys to gain more assets or are you gonna
keep what you have? Maybe go on a playoff push

(09:39):
and if you don't make it, that's okay too, because
these young guys get the experience, you know. I don't know,
there's there's there's a lot of teams that you know,
even the team like Anaheim. You know, if they finish
in first in the Pacific, are they gonna make some
trades to you know, make their team better or are
they gonna think long term? Okay, we you know we
made the playoffs. We're playing with houses money. I don't know.

(09:59):
There's so many different scenarios with a lot of these teams,
and some teams like Toronto, like I'd say it's pretty
vital that they make the playoffs, right.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Yes, they don't make the playoffs, the whole city is
just going to burn down.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
I mean, yeah, so there's so many different teams that
are in different scenarios this year. But I think because
of the parody. It's going to be very interesting the
landscape with the trade deadline and what teams are going
to do, because if you're three points out of a
playoff spot or six points out of first, are you
going to sell the farm for draft picks? I mean,

(10:32):
it's it's going to be interesting because because of teams
being so close in that race.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
I'd have to imagine that general managers they have I
would like to think that they have a plan of
like this is our cycle, right, like this is year
two of five, and we're at this point, and this
is what we expect. But then it's like what if
we overperform, Like they must have a contingency plan of
like okay, if we overperform or we underperform, these are

(11:00):
they choose your own adventure the ways we're going to go.
That's what I would hope if I walked into like
Pat Verbeek's office and I was to see the Anaheim Ducks,
and they'd be like, well, we didn't expect to be
first in the Pacific, but because we are, this is
obviously something we've kind of planned for. Like you have
to kind of plan for almost like every different situation.
If you are a general manager or be able to

(11:21):
react and have your scouts understand that your pro scouts understand,
like what players are we potentially looking for on a
daily basis, Like they're going to be moving in and
out of like okay, especially with injuries too. Right, as
we mentioned like here's are the guys who've been watching,
Here's guys who got to go after It's such strategy
is what I would say. Number one strategy would be

(11:44):
huge for this. Let's get into You mentioned the Toronto
my beliefs, but I want to get into Canada because boy,
are they looking real, real bad right now. Six of
the seven teams feeling pretty panicked, i'd say, except for Montreal,
I guess right now, and the Oilers are in a
familiar position outside of the playoff bubble looking in And

(12:07):
do you think that maybe because they've been in this situation,
I'd say all of the years that they've made it
to the Stanley Cup Final, they're not.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
Phased by it.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
And if that's the case, is that good or bad
in this particular instance.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Well, the positive thing for the Edmonton Oilers is I
think last season they had a worse record at this
point and which is crazy. But I cannot count the
Edmonton Oilers out ever because of Connor McDavid and Leandrey Sidel.
I just won't. I can't because of those two guys,

(12:48):
because they're that good and they can, you know, flip
a script and there's you know, I think that's the
one Canadian team i'd probably excuse me that the one
Canadian team I would probably least worry about that's sitting
on the outside is because of those two guys and
that two headed monster. Am I worried for them? And
there's certain areas of their game, yeah, right now I am.

(13:13):
But I think defense, goaltending to name name the Big
Game allowed.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
The most goals as of Monday night in the entire league.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Yeah, it's bad. It's not good. And then I look
at Montreal and and and they've had a couple of
injuries that that I think have hurt them. The goaltending
hasn't been great, and they've kind of come back down
to earth. But I see Montreal being in the mix.
I think they're going to be. I believe they'll finish
top three in the Atlantic this season. And it's and

(13:45):
then Ottawa that's another one I want to talk about
because Ottawa, like it's been impressive the way they've played
without Brady Kuchuk, Like Tim Stutzla has been the man,
like he's stepped up, played really well for them. Brady's
coming back. I heard that he's coming back this week,
which is huge Toro Ottawa. But they're consistently like they've

(14:06):
dealt with some injuries as well, but they've kept themselves
afloat and played pretty good hockey like I would like.
I've been most impressed with Ottawa. I think out all
the Canadian teams with what they've dealt with with injuries
and how they've played. So Like I said Julie, I
don't put a lot of stock, you know, in a
lot of the American Thanksgiving this year. Another one I

(14:29):
guess I didn't talk about was Winnipeg. Like Winnipeg is,
Winnipeg slowed down big time as well. Obviously injury of
you know Connor Halbach that that hurts, right, But I
but their team, their team, the way they play, I
think they'll be okay, Like they'll sustain this. They're they're
just too good, too deep, I believe, and the way

(14:49):
they played, I think they're gonna be Okay. So, I
mean I look at all the Canadian teams and I
see a lot of teams will make it like Vancouver Calgary.
It's not looking good, is a Yeah, they're just I
just don't see them ever said that.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
They're looking at I guess they've made all their veteran
guys available minus Quinn Hughes.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
So that means that they're looking at selling right now.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Yeah, and the bank they're only they're only as good
as quinn us goes. I mean, that's that's pretty much
self explanatory there. But yeah, you're right, it's November, but
it's it's so tight, it's it's going to be wild,
like this is literally going to come down to this
is going to happen all season. That that's what's amazing

(15:33):
about this all you And.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
To your point, I would like to apologize to the
Autawa Senators when I said that the Montreal Canadians were
the one team of the seven that we're doing well.
There's only one point separating the two of them, and
Ottawa has a game in hand. But Atawa's in that
third spot in the Atlantic and Montreal is in is

(15:57):
two places out of a wild card spot and they're
only one point behind.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
As you mentioned, it's just like Tetris. Every night, people
are going in and out. It's great, it's great. We
love it.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
We love seeing it. It makes it very difficult to
know if a team is good or bad and whether
they should be selling or buying. So we will have
to keep our eye on everything that is going on,
and we love to we we love to see parody
because it makes everything more interesting as we go down
the stretch. Okay, so before we get into our interview
with Tyler to Folly, just got to ask you a

(16:29):
question about Mico rant and some Obviously, he suspended one
game for his hit on Romanov, who who he's sent
out for five to six months.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Massive hit.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
He also had another one earlier this week, and so
how do you feel about how he's playing like that?

Speaker 4 (16:49):
Yeah, I mean, Miko Rettan has always been a guy.
I think that, uh, he's picked, he picks his spots
when he when he's physical, I mean, and he can
be physical. You see him in the passing's playing call
around in the playoffs, like he's had some big hits
and he's a he's a big big man, Like he's
huge and I've seen him off the icy and you're
just like, wow, this guy's not he's not just tall,
but he's like he's built like an oak tree, you know.

(17:10):
So yeah, they're not good hits, you know. I mean,
I think you heard Patty Waugh talk about the one
after Romanov. You know, you see the numbers, you don't
hit the guy, and and then the next one. You
know that that's that's the part. That's that's I guess disappointing.
Probably if you're George Perils from NHL Player Safety is

(17:34):
you know you this happens in a short amount of
time within both hits, uh, and then you know the
next one in Calgary, So yeah, it's uh. Sometimes guys
need to miss a game or get a fine, and
sometimes I can, you know, straighten things out. So I
don't believe he has any history of being suspended, so

(17:55):
I think this one time. So yeah, so yeah, exactly,
So I think hopefully this will minimize anymore hits hits
from behind from him.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Okay, is it weird for you to say American Thanksgiving
as an American?

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Not anymore? I think because I've lived in Canada for
a few years.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Obviously, Okay, I just was I find it interesting to
ask an American that because it's like, as a Canadian
that now lives in the States, American Thanksgiving was just
Thursday for us growing up. And on that note, we
have a Canadian who's playing in America on our show
coming up after the break, and that is none other

(18:40):
than Stanley Cup champion Tyler Tofoley, who is with the
San Jose Sharks. Now, don't go anywhere. This is Energy
Line with Nate and JSB. Welcome back to Energy Line
with Nate and JSB, and we are so thrilled to
be able to have an active player come join us
on our show here today. That is none other than
Stanley Cup champion with the La Kings in twenty fourteen,

(19:03):
current member of the San Jose Sharks. He's had stints
all over town, just like Nate Thompson has. But it
is none other than Tyler to fully joining us here
on the show. And Tyler, it's amazing how many players
you've played with that really kind of I guess helped
shape your career when you're able to come into the
league and.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Win the Cup so early on.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Now things have kind of changed and you are a
veteran presence on the San Jose Sharks team. What do
you think has really helped you become a mentor and
what kind of mentor do you feel you are.

Speaker 5 (19:38):
Honestly, we've just been having a lot of fun, even
last year too. We have a really good group of
guys and every single day we show up to the
rank and we're having fun, win or lose. We're you know,
we're stuck together and sounds kind of cliche, but it
really is the type of vibe. And you know, we

(20:01):
play ping pong and we don't we do all those
you know, little things together and it's it's great to
come to the ring together with the group of guys
and we have a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Tough my man, I know we were talking a little
bit before the show and for those who don't know,
we played together in La lived in the same area.
I've hung out a lot, worked out together in the
summer as well in the COVID COVID years. You know,
I'm gonna get right into it, and you know Macklin
Celebrini obviously, uh, you know, we see what he's doing.

(20:37):
I know you're gonna get a lot of questions about him,
and you have got a lot of questions about him.
What is it you know that makes him so good?
Coming from you Tyler to Foley, Like, what do you
think makes him so good and consistent? The way he's
been playing this season?

Speaker 5 (20:51):
I mean he says a dog, you know, like he
what he brings every single day. Obviously, he's extremely talented
and he's you know, by far our best player, but
he also brings that work work ethic every single night
and every single day to practice. And I think that's

(21:11):
like the biggest part that people don't realize what he
brings and obviously, you know, producing at a high level.
So it's it's fun to watch and fun to be
a part of.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
I gotta follow up because I know Maclin's you know,
living with Jumbo Joe Thornton. The rumor is Michael Misa
is living with you. How is that going? You know,
being now like kind of the the dad quote unquote right,
And I remember being in that situation in my career,
and now you're in that situation now in San Jose.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
Yeah, missus Messa is at the crib.

Speaker 5 (21:51):
He's uh, he's coming coming over for dinners and we're
having a good time. Obviously he's he's not playing right now,
but he's coming over. He loves the game more than anyone,
so we talk a lot about the game, have dinners together,
and he he's excited to get back. And Ix said

(22:13):
it as well, because you know, he's kind of seen
the way things have, you know, gone throughout the few
games you know that he's missed, and I think it's
one of those things that he's you know, ready to
you know, jump back in the mix and get back
to work.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Tyler, you're talking so much about how maclin Celebrini has
had that real instant impact on the ice. We've seen
it and it looks like he's just such a natural.
But off the ice, he really seems to thrive in
the spotlight, like he seems so even keeled. What maybe
have you noticed about his personality and his persona that's

(22:53):
been able to not only just handle the spotlight but
just really relish it.

Speaker 5 (22:58):
I mean, I've been besat in the locker room home
and away since he's coming to Lee obviously, and it's
one of those things where we're going in the third
period and he says something kind of stupid to me
and I'm like, come on, bro, like like let's like
dial in, you know, like type of thing, and he'll
go out in the third period or overtime or whatever

(23:20):
and score like the game winner. I'm like, you can
keep going, like you can keep doing your thing, and
I'll fall along. And it's, you know, his attitude and
and Spinty's attitude is it's it's light and loose. But
when it comes, you know, down to ship by Chefty,
I mean they're both you know, so dialed in and

(23:40):
they love the game and it's ready to go.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
Yeah, let's talk. I mean, you guys are seven to
three in your last ten, tough, and like obviously the
influx of you know, young energy with Macklin and Will
and these guys. But then you know you have Ryan
Reeves and Barkley Goudrou and yourself, and you know, there's
a different feel in San Jose right now, and you
guys are winning games differently, which is a great sign.

Speaker 5 (24:06):
I mean, we're, like you said, tom Or, we're winning
games different ways. And I truly believe we you know,
we can score six goals a game and we can
shut it down and win a two to one game
with the goalie polls and it's it's one of those
things where we're having a lot of fun and we're

(24:28):
we're coming honestly, we're coming to the rent every single
day and having a good time. And had dinner with
Selly or Boy last night and he wanted to have
a little shout out and wanted me to give you
a little jab last night and say, well, you're having
a little uh, you have a couple of points not
playing with tom or anymore, so I wanted to do

(24:49):
a little a quick little shout out.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
Oh nice, Well, Tyler, I mean like it's uh, it's
evident that the fun is a really big aspect of
this team. How well you guys have that that chemistry
that's clicking. And I know you've you've played on so
many different teams before. Other than having a good time
with the guys, what maybe is different about this Shark's

(25:14):
team and what makes you successful when you compare it
to the other teams that you've played on.

Speaker 5 (25:20):
I mean, honestly, it's one of those things. We show
up every single day and we're all on the same
page and working. And this season is obviously a little
bit different with the Olympic here and we're playing almost
every single night and we're just all on the same page.
I mean, I think we we show up, you know,

(25:41):
practice fly play, but we all understand, you know, where
we're coming from and what we need to do.

Speaker 6 (25:49):
And what we have to do.

Speaker 5 (25:50):
And we have a pretty mature group in the sense
of young guys that are really leading to charge for
us and the older guys that are, you know, trying
to keep up and and do our things. So we're
just checking along right now, and we're in a good
spot right now, and we just gotta keep going.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
We're to go back a little bit tough. And you've been,
you know, traded a few times, and I guess my
question is is how has that helped you evolved as
a player into a leader? You know, now that you're
in the situation in San Jose. I know for myself,
you know, being traded I think three or four years
in a row. You know, you get you come to

(26:31):
a new team, you get acclimated, but there's that little
bit of a grace period we were like, Okay, I'm
a leader, but I have to find myself in this
room first. Now that I'm being traded to a new team,
how has that been for you? You know, over the
years and then now being in San Jose and being
there now for a little bit.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Yeah, I think last year was a bit of a
transition because you know, I was kind of getting traded
to a team that was trying to win and you know,
deadline deals where last year I signed in San Jose
and there are a couple guys that were also kind
of in the same page, and I would say, like

(27:10):
myself and Goodie in particular, where we came in, we
understood the situation and we you know, trat our best.
Obviously last year wasn't ideal, but we understood that coming
into this year was going to be a little bit different.
We knew that our stars were, you know, going to

(27:33):
show up, and so far it's been been that way,
and you know, we're trying to do our best. So
as long as our big dogs are doing their thing,
we just got to keep going and keep having fun.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Just one more question about sort of the the trade
aspect of your career. Looking back a couple of years ago,
it was sort of, I guess rumored that your former
teammate Jonathan Quick was really really wanting you to come
to New York. And now that sort of the dust
is settled on all of that, and of course that
didn't materialize. That was when you're with New Jersey. How

(28:12):
close were you to becoming a Blue shirt alongside quick.

Speaker 5 (28:17):
I mean, I don't know how close I was, but
all I know is Quickie as a dog, and Talver
can say the exact same thing is, if you can
be a.

Speaker 6 (28:26):
Part of a team with Quickie, you have a chance
to win.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
So, whether he's playing or not, he's one of the
best teammates, if not the best teammate I've ever had.
And him along with his wife Jackie, they're they're one
of one of the best squads I've ever had, and
it's a lot of fun to be around them and

(28:52):
be teammates with Quickie.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Yeah, what did you think of the scrum he started
after the game? Like we were talking about, I loved it,
loved it.

Speaker 5 (29:01):
I talked to him literally the next morning he texted
me and I hit him.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
I hit him back with.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
You were the main topic of our breakfast because obviously
the time change, and he goes, oh, yeah, I kind
of stir that up and like joking, and I was like,
oh yeah, you did.

Speaker 6 (29:19):
He goes, that's on me.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Yeah, we all loved seeing that. I mean, you just
you can tell the passion from him of course in
that in that moment, but also, as you mentioned, even
when he's not starting too, he's such an incredible teammate.
So want to go back to Maclin Celebrini and also
Will Smith and their viral moment. I know you probably
talked about it a ton with Juny Juniper here in

(29:45):
New York City. What did you guys as a team
make of that entire experience that those two had and
how I mean they just were so calm and cool
when this woman in New York was just randomly interviewing them.

Speaker 5 (30:02):
I mean I still have haven't gotten the full scoop
on that, but I mean, we're staying at the airport
in JFK, and I knew that they were going into
the city for little dinner, early dinner, and I saw
the next morning, I was like, what the heck did
you guys get into?

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Like what did you do?

Speaker 5 (30:24):
And obviously I feel like it's still coming out, Like
I feel like there's like multiple stories that are coming
out upon it. So good for them they had a
wild night at MSG, and good for them, I mean
five point night or whatever it was for Mac and
four or five points for for for Smittye and just

(30:47):
two dogs doing their thing.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
You know, I got to go back to our mutual teammate,
who's you know, Annaly. It's his last year retired, This
is his last year before retiring on j Coopitar. You know,
we got to play against him recently. You know, this
is his farewell tour. I guess you could say this season, right,
and you know, you got to see him firsthand, got

(31:09):
to see him what he was like, you know, playing
with him obviously winning cups and the player he has
been his whole career, you know, and you can just
kind of see the same thing with Macklin, Celebrini and
these guys that you're on your team and you know
kind of talk about, you know, Andre Coppatar, the person,
the player, and you know, just your relationship with him

(31:29):
over the years.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
I mean, it's it's funny everyone keeps kind of asking me,
you know, the same question and coming in trying to
make the Kings. You know, Kobe was obviously in the
middle of his prime, and.

Speaker 6 (31:46):
To get to know.

Speaker 5 (31:48):
Him and for him to bring me in the way
that he brought me in was incredible and it's kind
of funny. I think he's played ninety nine games against
the Sharks as of now, hopefully everyone's healthy, and he
plays a hundred against the Sharks when we go into
l A, I think in January, February, whatever it is.

(32:11):
It's just incredible. The career that he's had and the
things that he's brought to the game has been very impressive.

Speaker 6 (32:22):
Along with off the ice too. I think that goes
a long way.

Speaker 5 (32:25):
And obviously Tom ra you know, you know, what he
brings off the ice is almost more important than you know,
what he brings down the ice, and which says a
lot because he's the best player of the s every
single night. So it was I mean, it's it's obviously,
it's funny. We played against them whatever a couple of
nights ago, and guys are coming after me the why

(32:48):
is Kope retiring? Like like, why is he done? And
I'm like, I've seen him go fourhand, backhand, five fole, Yeah,
at least fifty times, Like I could have. I could
have told you he was going forehand, you know, backhand
five fole. But obviously he's incredible human being and it's
one of those things where he's ready to go full

(33:10):
dad mode and obviously and it's is She's been incredible
with him and for the family, and it's it's time
for him and hopefully it's not the last time he's
at the Shark Tank and we can see him in
the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Right, Tyler. He's just such a pros pro on and
off the ice. Incredible person to interview as well and
to get to know. So he's played in the Olympics
in twenty fourteen, we know that NHL players obviously playing
in twenty twenty six coming up. Got to ask you, Celebrini,
if you were to be his agent and pitch him

(33:47):
to Team Canada, what were what would be some of
the qualities that you would say he would bring to
this Canadian team.

Speaker 5 (33:55):
I mean, you could put him on the first line
and the fourth line, whatever, wherever you want to put him,
he'll fit and he'll buy into I think it's like
the biggest attribute you know that you could explain Mac
He's one of those guys he can play center and
play right wing, left when honestly, wherever you want to

(34:16):
put him, even if he's the thirteenth forward, you can
throw him in there and he's willing to buy in
in every single way, and.

Speaker 6 (34:29):
I mean, how do you not have him on your team?
In my opinion, I don't.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Know, So yeah, I completely agree. It's off Like I
think he's a lock He's I mean, I watch him
all the time and I kind of I mean, it's crazy,
but I think he's like a mini Crosby. He really is.
The way he plays, he competes all of it. I
know you're probably like, we keep talking about Mac or whatever.
So I have to ask, though, because I know Kat

(34:54):
worked for the Dodgers, right and they're playing against the Jays,
you're from Toronto Emotions, how is is that in the household?
By the way, we'll get to Kat too obviously with
you know, never off sides and her and Julie Petrie,
But how was that in the house between year two
while the World Series is going on.

Speaker 5 (35:16):
I think, honestly, we were, I hate to say it,
we were kind of for the JS a little bit.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
I mean, we know key K and Clayton.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
Obviously she knows him much more than I do, but
it was hard not to root for the JS. The
vibe was just outrageous, and I mean, you know how
the locker room is you know, it gets gone, and
there is no way that I was coming into.

Speaker 6 (35:46):
The locker room and I was going to go dodge.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
Yeah, like one of those. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (35:51):
So there was some there, there were some diehard Jays guys,
and it was wild. It was fun, it was fun
to watch and that was crazy.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Yeah, Tyler, I empathize with you as someone from Toronto,
So it's still pretty wild.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
They got to games. I can't. I'm not I can't.
I can't talk about it.

Speaker 6 (36:12):
I'm still no.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
I know little Yeah, I feel the same way about that.
But in saying that, Kat is now on the media side,
as Nate referenced her podcast Never Offside with Julie Petrie
and what has it been like now to to live
with a member of the media and see what it's
like for her to be a host of a podcast.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
I mean, it's always funny. Normally they film on Monday mornings,
so usually get the late night Sunday night as I'm
trying to fall asleep scoop of you know who they're
talking to and trying to get like the inside sort
of thing, and I'm like, hey, you know this is
on you like, this is.

Speaker 6 (36:55):
You know what you know what.

Speaker 5 (36:56):
You got going on, and heard Julie they got a
really good thing going on. And obviously with Jeff playing
a thousand games recently, incredible Tom or I'll see you
play with with with PD And it's one of those
things where they're having a lot of fun and things
are working really well and I feel like they got

(37:19):
some really good things coming. So hopefully they keep going
and I'm along for the ride.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
What kind of good things coming? Nate and I are
very competitive with the podcasting situation.

Speaker 5 (37:29):
Oh, I mean, I don't want to give you the scoop,
but I mean Kat's got something going on. She's got
something up her sleeve. Half the time, I don't even know.
I'm like, I'm literally I'm not even lying. I'm going
to sleep on a Sunday night. And she's like, hey,
what do you got on? So and so I'm like,
I have no clue what you want me to say?

(37:51):
I am out.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
So now that she's doing the media side and getting
interviews and all, this is this something that could possibly
interest you when you're done playing, Like would you want
to be involved the media and talk about talk about
your experiences?

Speaker 5 (38:09):
I mean, I feel like it's the same as Utah ers.
It's weird and it's also hard in the sense of
it's hard talking about people that you've played with, in
my opinion, but because you never want to say anything
bad and about myself. I don't want to say anything
bad about anyone.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
But when you're in.

Speaker 5 (38:31):
The business in the sense of you know, I have
a bad game, you have to say it. You know,
you have to be like, like he's got to win
that puck battle, like blah blah blah. But I think
it definitely intrigues me. Yeah, Kad is definitely pushing me
to try and do it, so we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Yeah, well, they certainly jumped right in and has been
all over the place, really getting his feet wet at
every place and seemingly doing a great job. But he's
been to broadcasting school for two years in a row.
That's one more year than most guys. So you know,
you might want to check out the broadcasting camp as well.
But you already have a great personality. That's the first

(39:16):
thing that is required in media, I think, and also
dedication to doing these podcasts even when you're at a
hair salon where I'm at right now. So I apologize
for that, but just one last one for me.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
Tyler.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
You played in so many different places, but uniquely you've
played in four Canadian teams. Can you describe to some
of our American listeners just how different those markets are
compared to playing for a San Jose or in LA.

Speaker 6 (39:48):
Yeah, I mean, obviously it's very passionate.

Speaker 5 (39:50):
It's one of those things where, I mean, you show
up to the rink and sports nets on or Sports
Center or whatever it is is on TV every single day, and.

Speaker 6 (40:03):
You feel the pressure. And if you have a good
group of guys.

Speaker 5 (40:08):
You know, you come together and and find a way
regardless of if you're doing well or not. It's it's
always around, it's always hovering, and it's a different feeling.
Whereas you know, when you're in California, LA or San Jose,
you know you're kind of I mean, for San Jose
you're obviously second or your third in regards to the

(40:34):
Warriors and the forty nine ers, So it's a different feeling.
But at the same time, the pressure is always on
and when you show up to the rink, especially recently,
the Shark tank is back to when when I came.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
Into the league.

Speaker 6 (40:51):
Tom or I mean, you know how the shark tank goes.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
And this weekend was incredible and I wish we won
on Saturday night, but we won last night and it's
it's been it's been buzzing here.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
That's awesome, buddy, I mean, I mean, I guess my
last one is is just what have you been doing
like in San Jose? Like the boys when you guys
get together, is it. Are you guys going to Jumbo's
house to hang out with Macklin? Are you guys going
over to a certain houses like like, obviously you guys
have a good thing going. You guys have a lot
of fun, but we know that that's built away from
the rink, always right with your team. Like, what are

(41:28):
you guys doing in San Jose? I mean, obviously there's
good golf around there too.

Speaker 6 (41:33):
We gotta we gotta get you up here tower. We'll
give you the We'll give you the scoop. I got
a bedroom for you.

Speaker 5 (41:39):
So all right, it's I I can't even tell you
it's that good.

Speaker 3 (41:48):
Oh yeah, I want to come to this.

Speaker 5 (41:50):
Hey, we're all in. I mean, we got Thanksgiving dinner.
Cat's cooking for fifty two people, I believe, Oh, way wow,
and I gotta I got a cheer ducking going, so
I love it. We got Mes in the back house,
he's not doing much. We'll throw the true duck in

(42:15):
his place and he'll come over for the vibes and
we're all invited.

Speaker 6 (42:20):
I'm inviting everybody.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
Well, well, kudos to Kat for taking on cooking for
fifty two people. I mean she should get an award
for that already.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Please tell her that we send our t's and p's
to her for chetting that for Thanksgiving. And Nate, you're
done good, okay. Thank you Tyler so much for joining
us here and being able to chat about everything and anything,
and congratulations on such an incredible career. It's been a

(42:51):
joy being able to watch you from the beginning and
being on that Stanley Cup winning goal, and of course
seeing you now being alongside some of the future stars
and so continue the great work and maybe we'll see
you the microphone someday.

Speaker 3 (43:04):
And tell Kat that we say hi as well. And
congratulations to.

Speaker 6 (43:07):
Rad I got you guys anything.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
Thank you guys, Welcome back to Energy Line with Nate
and JSB. That was Tyler Tofoley who was so kind
to give us some time here on the program on
his off day. We appreciate that, and I did that
from a hairslun so I just want to give myself
a round of applause, and I want to give Nate
Thompson around applause for booking Tyler. I didn't text you

(43:33):
enough to say thank you for that, but that was
a real big dub.

Speaker 4 (43:37):
Oh thanks, No, that was it was great. I mean
Tyler and we played together obviously in LA but like
I said, and we also, like we trained together in
the off season for I think like three or four
summers in a row, so we hung out a lot.
Great guy, and San Jose is lucky to have him,
like I I credit him for a lot of those

(43:59):
young guys success, Like they're lucky to have him there.
I don't know how lucky, you know how grateful they are,
but they should be because great hockey player, great person,
and knock on Wood coming up on a milestone this
year for games too, So.

Speaker 2 (44:14):
You know, I was looking afterwards forgot to ask him,
or maybe we didn't really need to, but when they
did that, that sleepover all of them.

Speaker 4 (44:22):
Like, oh yeah, it was always him. Will Smith and
Macklin in the same hotel room.

Speaker 6 (44:28):
Right, Yeah, you got like a cat.

Speaker 4 (44:29):
Yeah, yeah, I remember they asked him to I think
if they won or he had a point, they.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
Have some kind of bet.

Speaker 4 (44:36):
Yeah, and he had to stay the night with him
if they won. So yeah, that's great.

Speaker 3 (44:39):
So they're so cute.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
Like I think there's just such a different vibe about
Maybe it's the it's Macklin and will Smith like bringing
this unique younger energy in that you I never would
have seen before in the past, which is like it's
okay to be a little bit different and a little
bit silly.

Speaker 4 (45:02):
I mean, they're having fun. They're fun. I mean Tyler
Tyler said, he's like we're having a blaster and you
can see it. You can see the way they play
any you know, I think the additions of guys like
Ryan Reeves too, he said, he's like Revo. He's like,
Revo has been like instrumental for our locker room. You know,
having a guy like that come in and you know,
he saw what he's been doing with the shark chain

(45:23):
and they got to take their shirts off and put
it around him after games, Like that's the new dog
of the game or whatever you want to call it.
But it. You know, that was all Ryan Reeves, So
you know, it's good. It's good to have some injection
older guys and then you got these young guys that
are having fun and just awesome to see. The San
Jose Sharks are an exciting team to watch.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
Those things seem like they really galvanize a team. Did
you ever have something like that, like a special award
or thing that that really stood out that you feel
like brought your group together.

Speaker 4 (45:54):
Yeah? We what I was in Montreal the Player of
the Game obviously given out by you know, fellow players.
They had a Game of Thrones like John Snow the
whole like sword, fur jacket coat thing that you would
put on after and that was probably the best one
I've seen out of all the teams I've been on

(46:15):
for like Player of the Game it was, but that
one was good. That was really good.

Speaker 2 (46:19):
Yeah, because you look at teams and that becomes like
such a fun source of energy. Like I liken it
back to the University of Miami in football where they
had the turnover chain that was so massive, right, Like
that thing was just like it took center stage and
then like everyone was just so into it. And I

(46:39):
think that that creates such a unique vibe and energy
versus just sort of I mean, you know, nothing against
just awards and rooms after the game. I think those
are really important as well, but it's fun when they
get beyond that. Okay, got to ask you something else
that happened this week. We saw that Connor Bodard was walking.

(47:00):
What city was he in?

Speaker 3 (47:04):
Someone was wearing shorts in that video.

Speaker 4 (47:06):
Yeah, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know
where he was.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
All right, Well, guys like to wear shorts despite how
cool that he's outside, I've noticed. But so he's walking
and there's an autograph hound just trying to get him
to sign, trying to get him to sign sign sign
this magazine sign sign sign, going after him, hounding him,
hounding him, hounding him, and he says no, says no, no,
like no, like you know, please no. And then finally

(47:30):
the guy's like, can't you just you know, walk and sign,
and he does. I was actually surprised that he did
do it. Me personally, I was kind of thinking he
said no so many times I'd be like, buddy, don't
you understand, just like leave me alone?

Speaker 3 (47:43):
But he did that. What do you think about that?

Speaker 2 (47:47):
That thing, that whole experience and then also your experience
with autograph hounds.

Speaker 4 (47:53):
Yeah, I think Connor Badard he didn't do anything wrong,
you know the way he No, he did nothing wrong.
And I heard you know, you see comments on people
you know, giving him a hard time. He did nothing wrong.
I mean that that guy that has a binder full
of cards, a binder and in multiple binders. I don't
think he's doing that just to collect, right like he's

(48:14):
those are those are going to be sold? So yeah,
I mean Carniver Dardy, he had his right and and
he did like you said, he still ended up signing it.
Maybe not a legible autograph, but he ended up signing
it right like he he he did it for him.
So yeah, And I remember doing this when I played.
I mean when I remember when I was playing for
the Islanders and I was, you know, living at the

(48:35):
Marriotte across from Nasau Coliseum, and you got to walk
from parking lot to parking lot and they're all standing
there and they're waiting and they're you know, signing autographs
and you know, and I've seen both sides of the coin,
like you know, there was some of these autograph Hounds.
I like to call him. Yeah, that when I was
playing in Philly. You know, some would be after practice

(48:57):
or whatever, but there was I remember there was a
gentleman that you know, he would give me copies. You know,
he would give me copies of the picture. You'd be like, hey,
can you sign this year. Here's an extra copy for
yourself or for your family, or here's a few of
them if you want them. And I was like, Okay,
that's a nice gesture. Like maybe these other autograph people
like do that, Like that's that is a nice little gesture.

(49:18):
And players would appreciate that, right, Like if you're going
to give them a picture, and okay, I'll sign yours.
Right So I think there's a few different ways to
handle it. But connorverand Garden, the fact that he still
ended up signing it after the guy asked him he
said no as many times as he did is I'd
be like, stand up away, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
No means no, Like there's no consent in this situation,
right now, leave me.

Speaker 4 (49:44):
Alone, exactly. Yeah it is. You're right, And that's a
good point, Like it's a little bit invasive, right when
they're doing that and he's just walking with his teammates
like back off man.

Speaker 2 (49:58):
Yeah, I think that if you're trying to get it
and they're like it's almost like getting a photo was
and you're like, hey, can I get a photo with you?
And they're like no, But you can remember this moment
and I've seen that happen with people before and like, Okay,
you know, I'll do that instead and then just leave
it at that. But for you, like, how would you

(50:20):
go about It's like, say you get into the league
and you're like, wow, I'm an NHL player and people
want my autograph. Do you go sign all of them
at first? Or do you pick and choose or do
you how do you decide then even not even just
as your first year in the league, but like throughout
your your career, if you're going to sign, who you're
going to sign and what?

Speaker 4 (50:42):
Yeah, I mean that's a good question. I mean see
and I'm not I'm not Connovadar and Connor McDavid. These
guys that that you know maybe sorry, they might have
you know, card deals or maybe they're sponsored by a
certain company or whatever is where they can only sign
certain things, you know, Like, yeah, I usually sign everything

(51:04):
for the most part, you know there were times when
guys would give me something that was uh, you know,
like I remember like a guy like he would you know,
like they would come up to me and they would
give me a car and it wasn't me. I'm like,
all right, dude, like that's not me. Like so by
you know, like you're going to try and ask me

(51:25):
for an autograph and you don't even know it's who
it is, Like come on right like something like that.

Speaker 2 (51:31):
Like I'm like no, they're like, oh, oh, you're like
I'm so excited to sign thisicle.

Speaker 3 (51:36):
Oh it's not even me.

Speaker 4 (51:38):
Yeah, so trust me, That's happened before. But yeah, I
mean these these guys, it's you know, they're making a
business out of it.

Speaker 3 (51:46):
So they use their family as we talked about.

Speaker 4 (51:50):
Yeah, I've seen their kids. I've seen I've seen a
guy used. I've seen multiple guys do that use their
kids to come get the player to sign and then they're
running back to them with with their autograph.

Speaker 2 (52:01):
They will stand outside of a hotel for the entire
day with their children. It's like they've taken their kids
out of daycare, out of school, out of whatever to
just use them. And I mentioned a guy who I
won't say his name, but he said he like the
guy the autograph hound was like, it's my kid's birthday.
And the kid was there and he's like, I want

(52:22):
to see as I want to see his ID birth certificate.
Is it actually his birthday or just using him for
that because they've had so many guys saying it's my
kid's birthday, sign this, And I don't think a lot
of people really understand how those autograph hounds are literally
everywhere you go. So when I traveled with you guys,

(52:42):
they would come up to me and ask me like, oh,
so are you guys? I is the team was an
optional today? I was like morning skate, Like how many
guys came? Who was at skate today?

Speaker 3 (52:54):
This?

Speaker 2 (52:54):
They'd be like asking me for stuff because they'd want
to know like who's already come to the hotel, who
might be still walking. I was like, ah, this is weird,
Like you know, they just wanted to know who's like
who's on the trip, like oh are you your media?
Like are you staying? Are there is a team staying
at this hotel right now? Like they're just they're so obsessive.
And then I will say, like one of the highlights

(53:16):
of my career this line. We were in Montreal and
some got the Ducks TV guys will never let me
live this down. Some guy with a massive, massive picture
frame that was like clear, was like Julie and I
was thinking, like, oh, I don't know why this guy's
yelling at me. I don't listen if anyone's yelling at me,
and now no, I don't. I pretend I don't hear Julie.

Speaker 4 (53:39):
Julie.

Speaker 3 (53:39):
I look and he's like, can you come sign this?

Speaker 2 (53:43):
And like everyone just looked at me because I was
the only one like being asked to sign something by
the autograph hound.

Speaker 3 (53:49):
I think Maroon saw it too, and he was like,
what the fuck is that?

Speaker 2 (53:54):
So I was prompted. I was like, Wow, someone wants
my autograph. I went over and signed some weird clear frame.
It was massive, and like they all the Ducks TV
guys will like, what do you think's going in that frame?
What picture of you is that guy going to have
in that massive frame? I was like, I don't know,

(54:14):
but that made me feel really pretty cool right there.
And they're like, all right, Banksy, if that's what your uh,
your highlight of your day is so hell.

Speaker 4 (54:22):
Yeah, Julie. I mean, yeah, you signed that autograph. I
love it. I love it. It's crazy though, right, I
mean they remember we would get into cities at two
three in the morning and they're outside the hotel waiting, right, I.

Speaker 3 (54:35):
Mean, do like a documentary on an autograph hoound?

Speaker 4 (54:38):
For sure?

Speaker 2 (54:39):
They do day in the life day get ready with
me autograph hoound style.

Speaker 4 (54:45):
You're right. I think there's optics to sign in the
autograph because, like you know, I'm a young guy, I'm single,
I'm in New York. You know, maybe there's a cute
girl walking by and the guy's like, hey, they you know,
give me an autograph, and you're walking to the hotel. You okay,
maybe I will sign this one. This pretty girls walking
by right, Like, I don't.

Speaker 3 (55:04):
Know, do it as like a stalling tactic.

Speaker 7 (55:09):
Or just trying to.

Speaker 3 (55:09):
See you do it?

Speaker 4 (55:10):
Yeah? Yeah, you're trying to impress the girl, I think,
And you're like yeah, yeah, yeahah. I think there's optics
to it too.

Speaker 2 (55:17):
Or would she be more impressed a place. No, I'm
not signing that. No, girls would be like, oh that's nice,
he did that, Okay. Last point speaking to girls. Tate McCrae,
arguably one of the biggest celebrities right now on planet
or Canadian, was spotted on a date or or not

(55:40):
a date, we won't put it there, but for dinner
with Jack Hughes at Anton's, which is literally down the
street from me. I'm more upset that I wasn't just
like at Anton's that night and seeing I would have,
I would totally miss them. I would have been like,
oh they were here, I didn't see anything. Do you
think that this is another big l for cole Cylinger?
But I mean she's punching way below like Tam craig

(56:04):
can do a lot better than Jack Hughes in my opinion.

Speaker 4 (56:09):
Truly, Wow, what top hope there?

Speaker 2 (56:14):
Like she's like the Britney Spears of Like right now,
this isn't.

Speaker 4 (56:19):
Jack Hughes, like the Justin Bieber of hockey kind of.

Speaker 3 (56:22):
No, he's not.

Speaker 4 (56:24):
I mean, I don't know, I mean hockey. I mean no,
it's great. It's great for the league. I mean it's
good for Jack Hughes. Good. Yeah, it's great.

Speaker 3 (56:33):
Is it like a tailor was a little Travis Kelce situation?

Speaker 4 (56:36):
Yeah? I was, it is. You're right, a little smaller
scale but yeah, I I was a little skeptical of
his outfit though, like is that a nice restaurant, Like
I don't know, is that like a gen Z thing
like with the with the with the tuke and the
white T shirt?

Speaker 3 (56:52):
And I think so gen Z seems to be pretty
dressed down.

Speaker 4 (56:56):
It is dressed down. I wasn't a huge fan of
the outfit, but I mean that's fine. It worked for him.
It is working for him clearly. Uh so yeah, it's uh,
it's good for the league. And I mean, what do
you think, Julie, I mean, hold on, this is what
I want to ask you. What what would have you
what would you've done? If you were there.

Speaker 2 (57:18):
As I saw them, I would have gotten my photo
of Tate McCrae and Jack Hughes, and I would have
gone over to them and said, hey, it's my birthday.
Can you guys please assign these right now? Jokes call
back to autograph hounds. Now, No, I would have I
would have just I would have tweeted it. Yeah, I

(57:39):
wouldn't have taken a photo, but I would have said
I'm looking at this right now, and then I would
have like watched to see, like is she actually into him.

Speaker 3 (57:48):
Do you think they were set up? Are their bodyguards
around them?

Speaker 2 (57:51):
I know exactly where they were sitting at Anton, so
it's like right in the corner they had. She must
have bodyguards like she has to. Probably she's literally like
super famous, right.

Speaker 4 (58:03):
Yeah, she's blown She's blown up in the last few
years for sure.

Speaker 3 (58:06):
Own blown up.

Speaker 4 (58:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (58:09):
I love this stuff.
