the connection. I guess the Burt Sugar was also kind
of like a wrestling historian, the late great Birch Sugar.
He always had on like, you know, a hat, and

he was always you watch any old school boxing documentary,
Burt Sugar was the guy that was on. But yeah,
and I want to say these are around the same times.
It's been a while since I saw this, but when
I said Treshchiv with a current affair, now, I don't
think a current affair is on anymore. It used to
just be a little more gritty than the actual magazine

news shows. They would do a little more sensational story.
So ECW fit the current affair mold perfectly, okay, But
they still have it in Australia, which I find interesting.

Bill O'Reilly was also a current affair, and that's the
famous Bill O'Reilly where he loses his shit and screaming

you know, leaked botch of o'riley's doing his outtakes for
the close of the show and something gets screwed up.

you train, I know where you live, and I'm distracting them.
And then the guys come and they're just fighting in
this alleyway. And then we were supposed to uh, I
was supposed to be interviewed, but I went through the
table and Paul put the kibosh on it.

It's it's interesting just even that kind of access though
with ringside interviews, so yeah, there was no backstage anything,
but still even a ringside interview in that kind of environment.
You know, the ECW faithful being probably the most smart
fans in the world at that point. Still interesting that
they would want to even get in that environment. I'm

surprised that, Paul. I guess it was for the access,
but uh, you know, nobody who who knew and this
is ninety five, so yeah, ECW not well known in
ninety five.

We need it mainstream press, you know, like we we
said before, we didn't have social media back then, so
any any publicity was good publicity, whether they shit on
us like that clip did, or whether they would praise us.
You know, we just wanted to get the word out
there that you know, we were the third company and
we were trying to make a name for ourselves.

But that's kind of like the old school mentality when
it came to viewing wrestling was what that guy with
his stupid you know quos there is his chisel jaw

the classic response to wrestling back in the day. Now everybody's,

the back and I remember I was crying. When you cry,
you can't breathe.

I couldn't catch my breath, and I went by myself
because I didn't want anybody to see me.

But I went into the corner and I thought I
was going to die.

I couldn't breathe. I couldn't get my throat to open
back up. And then I told myself just calm down,
try and calm down. And when I stopped crying, I
was able to continue myself and then it opened up.

To me, it was careless on his part. I feel like,

you would think that he would try to protect me

I remember that by Anthony. So maybe he was choking
them a little too much. Maybe he got into his
character a little too much. Maybe I don't know, But

realize he had hair because he was he went so

It's it's interesting just even that kind of access though
with ringside interviews, so yeah, there was no backstage anything,
but still even a ringside interview in that kind of environment.
You know, the ECW faithful being probably the most smart
fans in the world at that point. Still interesting that
they would want to even get in that environment. I'm
(08:47):
surprised that, Paul. I guess it was for the access,
but uh, you know, nobody who who knew and this
is ninety five, so yeah, ECW not well known in
ninety five.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
We need it mainstream press, you know, like we we
said before, we didn't have social media back then, so
any any publicity was good publicity, whether they shit on
us like that clip did, or whether they would praise us.
You know, we just wanted to get the word out
there that you know, we were the third company and
we were trying to make a name for ourselves.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
But that's kind of like the old school mentality when
it came to viewing wrestling was what that guy with
his stupid you know quos there is his chisel jaw
with his little jab like that, to me is like
the classic response to wrestling back in the day. Now everybody's,
like I would say, a lot more accepting of.

But uh, I I had talked about this before, like
we could have had the electric razor, we could have
been like, but we only had a pair of scissors, uh,
you know, cutting his hair.

But I I just remember that Perry didn't like this angle,
the spot at all.

So so does Anthony have to pull on that? Uh
that chain really type to get listen.

I don't know what they did for sure.

They you get snipped that that mullet there, that hair.

I do remember Anthony closelining me on the outside.

Turned and went with Shane, we did a spot and
you know, we didn't have mats, and he closelined me
and I took a bump on the concrete, but he
got me right in like where an atom's apple and
a man would be, like right in the middle of
my throat. My throat completely closed. I was gasping for
air and I could not breathe. And I went into
(11:36):
the back and I remember I was crying. When you cry,
you can't breathe.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
I couldn't catch my breath, and I went by myself
because I didn't want anybody to see me.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
But I went into the corner and I thought I
was going to die.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
I couldn't breathe. I couldn't get my throat to open
back up. And then I told myself just calm down,
try and calm down. And when I stopped crying, I
was able to continue myself and then it opened up.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
But I was so scared.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Yeah, that's gonna be getting close eyed by a brick.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
To me, it was careless on his part. I feel like,
you know, I never told them to take it easy
on me.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
But back then I was only about one hundred and
seventeen pounds or so, and I'm on concrete, right, So
you would think that he would try to protect me
more than he did, and he did it. So yeah,
I remember that by Anthony. So maybe he was choking
them a little too much. Maybe he got into his
character a little too much. Maybe I don't know, But

I love Gary. Look at Gary's face.

Yeah that insity right now.

Oh yeah, I love Gary. I still you know, speak
to Gary. But I just remember Parry was not into
this at all.

Yeah, that was a pretty impressive mullet he had going
on there of a doubt, And it's just funny because
I think most fans would remember him without the hair
right than with it. But this is my first viewing
of Perry. Sadam was seeing him like this, and it
took a while to I mean, he didn't go straight
to the ball. He had the flat top, you know,
he did the the what do you call the mohawk,

you know, he he did a couple of different styles.
But I bet you a lot of fans don't even
realize he had hair because he was he went so
long in his career without it. That's a that's a
great that's a that's a classic shots for them to
be covering that that is pretty that's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
I can't remember what happened to kron Is. He must
be selling somewhere. He must be out somewhere, because yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Because they don't. Did you cut his hair too? I
don't think so. Yeah.

And they couldn't have been more opposite as people, you know,
so two different demeanors just but it worked, you know,
they worked well together and they were great tag team.

Yeah, Cronus intimidated the ship out of me, just the
way he looked before he opened his you know, before
he you found out who he was like on air
when he was quiet and didn't really say much.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
He was like he was like Bamban Bigelow, the biggest
teddy bear.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
That he lost. That's all I've ever heard after.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yes, genuinely sweet sweet man.

Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, Yeah, that's that's that's a loss.
He's been gone for a while. That's that's that's very sad.
And that's that's the only thing that I looking back
on some of these these some of these guys that
aren't here. Obviously Anthony no longer here as well, but
the first guys that ever acknowledged me on an indie show,
the really wave to them, they waved back. I was like,

and that had to have been that nobody knew who
they were outside of people who watched ECW, because this
was like ninety five. Yeah, it was a big some
of those Jersey shows back in the day.

He was in the Garden restaurant and it was they
filmed him doing a sit down interview with one of
the Albert brothers, Marv Albert, one of his sons, I
think it was. It was one of the Alberts, all right,

cheat shows.
