Speaker 1 (00:00):
There he is paying to the drink. I only have
one question. What you trying to get into a day? Yeah?
We have so much to catch up on. I don't
(00:20):
even know where to begin. I love that you're up.
Make sure your settings are right? Are you recording on
your appropriate been recording? Dude? I started recording before y'all
let me in the meeting. Okay, Hi everyone, high listeners.
We missed you, We don't. We have not seen each
(00:40):
other in so long. We have something. This is gonna
be called what's it gonna be called? You catch up episode? Yeah? Yeah,
because we don't. We don't even we didn't. We're not
even reviewing an episode today because we just wanted to
say hi to you. Are loyal listeners. Apologize to you
for being gone for so long and making you listen
to reruns. If they were good, Joel, were they good? Oh?
(01:02):
I picked some of our most awesome interviews to they
were heaters? Okay? And then how many weeks too? So
I'm clear. How many weeks have our amazing listeners been
forced to listen to reruns? I think four or five.
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, guys. I should be purged.
It is my fault. I will take the blame. What
(01:24):
happened the entire time within Donald's house while we weren't
on the air. You're absolutely right, there's not trying. How
about five minutes before we started the podcast hit the
button again? Oh boy? Even I even texted this morning.
I was like, because I knew he'd be like anxious,
(01:46):
maybe you're nervous to hop back in, and he'd go
he'd go too hard on the Ganja. So I even
texted him, don't be too high today. Once I found
out that Ganja fights the micron and the COVID bot.
I'm sorry. I haven't watched the news. That's that's one
(02:07):
I haven't heard. O't there you unite? That's right? Wait
they told you that. But yet let's go, doll we start.
I got it from Gail King, Nate and freaking uh
Anthony on the CBS Morning Show. This is real news.
It's not some b alright, Joel, give us the real
(02:29):
real So it does work. I don't know all the
science stuff, but apparently you have to smoke like so
like it's not possible to smoke enough to make can
do it? Do me? Snoop? Who else? Uh? Seth Like
Hank forever. That's right. My goal is is to use
every every path during this catchup episode. You're three in,
(02:53):
you're three in. Well, just give me a chance, okaynor
me now? Alright. So you're saying that someone is reported
that smoking ganja is good for fighting omicron, But you
have to smoke so much that you have to be
like a Snoop Dogg level person. I don't know if
I remember correctly. You no human can physically, It's not
(03:16):
possible because it's smoking up. I'm going for it. What
was it like in your house, Donald, when you told
your wife that you weren't just getting high for for pleasure,
you were getting high to fight. I'm sure that went
over well. Uh she she she wasn't that happy about it.
But but somewhere it's sad. I feel like she understood
(03:43):
what's good with you? Man? You tell me what's good?
What's good? Daniel? What's good? I haven't Donald and I
neither one of us have our fancy cameras set up,
so we don't look at Look how good Daniel's camera.
It's crisp, you know what it is? Thank you? Yeah?
Speaking of YouTube, dude, during this break, I caught my
(04:07):
daughter muck banging my six year old daughter sitting down
at the table recording herself eating the pancakes and bacon
that I made her right like one of those videos
like I'm going to take a nice little bite right here.
(04:28):
Let's so she was imitating the muck Bangers. Yes, I
don't know I posted on YouTube or any Hell no, man,
she thinks she okay. So she has all of these
videos that she's done or for YouTube or for her
social media that she thinks are being posted. It's like
her dance and stuff, and you know, trying to you know,
(04:52):
she has all of these videos that she thinks that
she thinks is up, but they're not up obviously. And
let me see my muang video with how well she's not.
Come on, man, nothing about my numbers. I just go
right into the photos and I'm like, look chack at
see oh I see. Well, I just want to again
(05:14):
just start off by six I know, okay. I just
wanted to start off by thanking all you loyal listeners
for for hanging in there. Um Irena, we're gonna go
around the room and talk about what we all went
up to. Um. I made a movie which I'll go
into detail, but that's that was the impetus. Both Donald
and I had a project to do that that we
(05:34):
both created independently of each other, and we'll talk about
and tell you about, but that both of those things
happening was sort of the impetus for saying, hey, we
gotta take some time off because we just can't do
it all. And then it went into the holiday and
so we had backlog a lot of those episodes for you.
I think now we can, um at least for the
(05:55):
time being, be more current, um, which I like, I
do like it. Yeah, I prefer if we go back
to the Thursday record. You well, it happened, but I
think that can make it work. We'll see, we'll get
it done. I think you're not done with your project yet.
You have like a kind of right, No I'm not,
(06:17):
by no means I'm in post but um but but well, anyway, anyway,
I just wanted to say, in all sincerity, thank you
for being patient with us, and for those of you
who actually listen to the replayers, thank you. Um, what's
been a note. I just you know. The first thing
on my mind is that Joel and Daniel have signed
up yet another rewatch show. This one is are they
(06:39):
are you guys? You guys are not on the show?
Are you? Because if if if she stole our sidekicks,
I would be pissed, Donald, wouldn't you? Oh, there would
be so much beef when you and the announcement, Donald,
did it cross your mind that are these mo fos
on their show too? Right away? Because we had this
(07:01):
conversation before, because we knew that you two were very
involved in the right we weren't allowed to tell the
audience we were about to tell you listeners because they
were trying my heart and these two were trying to
close the deal on New Girl, we weren't allowed to
talk about it and sorry, dog ahead, and so we
knew that it was in the works. So when I
saw that it popped up, the first thing I thought
(07:24):
of was they better not have crossed over, Like you know,
this isn't the Jefferson's and all in the family. No,
this is not that, and this isn't this. Heud not
have done be unthinkable, And I'm happy to hear that
you haven't. No, No, it's its own unique show. It's
(07:47):
three hosts, which makes it you know, you don't want
like five hosts on Mike to me, that's very confusing. Uh,
and so you know it's it's the three of them.
It's really cute. They play a true American game at
the end of every episode. I think people will like it. Um,
it's been fun to see. As we announced, a lot
of people are like, scrubb is my number one favorite show,
with New Girls number two, Like, I can't believe those
(08:08):
crossover Now, Daniel, will you be editing the episodes? I
will be editing? Okay, So that feels a bit donald,
a bit like he's gonna bring the editing magic that
we enjoy to their Well, I'm not gonna what if.
What if what if fans are like, oh that is
such a Daniel edit, I'll be shocked if they notice.
(08:32):
You know, I want everyone to succeed. And you know, yeah,
I'm very happy for the three hosts of the New
Girl podcast. That's a reward. We're giving you a free
plug here on Fake Yeah. Well they're they're they're part
of the I Heart family now. And uh and hey,
that Zoe Decianelle, who I haven't seen in years, but
(08:52):
she's a lovely, lovely person. And uh, I think you
guys are gonna have a great time. Are they doing
the same sort of thing where they watch before and
then discuss the episode. Yes, it's still a recap show.
Also like Office Ladies, you know, so they watched the episode,
then they recap it. Um, they're doing more frequent interviews,
so we have like a lot of really cool So
(09:14):
you guys, are you guys are overproducing over there? Is
that what's going on? It seems you guys, it's like
you're overchieving. It seems like you're overachieving. It seems like
you're overachieving over there. And you and you and you're
like they're often running on fake doctor's real friends. You
guys are like my agents, you know what I mean.
I get on the show all of a sudden, they're like,
(09:35):
you know what, I need to just fall back a
little bit. Donald's working. I don't have to hustle as hard.
Running accusation is accurate to well that that you that
you've reached this far into our show, and you're like, oh,
I can't wait to book exciting guests for the Zoe
(09:55):
Deschanel program. I'm not going to give a funk about
booking guest for well, you know, fans certainly were concerned.
They had very similar attitudes. They were like, does this
mean you're leaving fake doctors? And what it is like?
Nothing is really changing, all the same energy and love
that I've always brought. We just you know, they do
have advantage of two additional years of my experience as
(10:17):
an executive producer, so that might help them a little bit,
just you know, straight out thin on the show it
says that might help him a little bit. Just additional
education and experience might be beneficial to any project that
you feel that you'll be taking the knowledge that you've
gleaned from this program doing so well and bringing it
over there. And that's sure. We have copyrighted some of
(10:40):
our things, like Joel, are they going to have a
soundboard at this time? I bet they won't get as
racy as we get because they seem like wholesome people.
It's a much cleaner show. Because we've talked about the
girth of Donald shaft on here. I don't think that's
going to come up talk is to be sure, I
(11:05):
don't think they're going to talk about my mean they
bring up your particular penis. Can you imagine a New Girl?
The New Girl recap show has a whole segment on
the girth of Donald. Hi, Heart, you're welcome for the
free advertising. Yeah, there you go, high heart. Um is
(11:28):
I heart mad at us because we were gone so long? Joel?
Is there some secret meeting where they're like fun those guys. No, No,
not at all. They understand people need rest and breaks.
And that's why I mean every show does like a
short run of like here's some classic episodes or here's
some guest hosted episodes. People have to take time off.
We can't be doing this. You know what I love
is that nobody sees this coming. Everybody still thinks we're down.
(11:52):
We haven't promoted this that hard or anything like that.
There's only one person that knows this, and I didn't
trade in any information for it. But you know, there's
one person who knows that we're coming back right now,
and that's the that's uh Maria from the Mandalorian. But
do you know sometimes I try to trade some of
(12:13):
our little secrets for some Mando secret or some uh
or some or some Boba Fette secrets or anything. I
expressed some things. Let's just say I expressed some things.
And are you not going to speak openly about um
(12:37):
Boba fet Um. Is that something I'll speaking very openly
about Boba Fett. I have no problem doing that, okay
because I haven't seen an episode. But my sense is
a non Star Wars obsessive person, is that the fans
are not responding to it like they um did Mandalorian.
Do you guys want to speak to them? Okay? So
here's how I'm without like a half hour, like the
(12:59):
won't be half left, it won't be a half hour.
Mandalorian is who we thought Boba Fett was. That's the Mandalorian, right.
We thought the character of the Mandalorian is exactly what
Boba Fett should be. Now they've done They've done that already,
and they've now reintroduced Boba Fett, and it's like, how
do we make this story unique? We can't go the
(13:22):
Mandalorian route. So a lot of the things that we
as fans expected Boba Fette to be doing, he's not
doing because the Mandalorian has already done it, you know
what I mean, And so we can't really So Boba
Fette's walking his own path. I'm trying to be that
of of of a Jedi right now, and let go
(13:42):
of the things that you know concerned me or the
things that I worried about. Let go of my fear
in all of this, and just see how this all
plays out, Joel, your thoughts, Yeah, listen, this is a
show that's really trying to expand the world of Star Wars.
Have the Tuscan Raiders, who were often referred to as
quote sand people, and they were like, maybe that's not cool.
(14:05):
Maybe we make these people individuals, and maybe we have
a bunch of indigenous people involved in crafting the show
and we explore that side. Maybe we get into like
the whole backstory of tattooing, how to go from like
an ocean planet to a desert planet. I'm really excited
if you're like into Star Wars. Lord, It's hard for
me to figure out why people aren't like very there's
constantly expanding what we know and making it richer and
(14:26):
more contextual, and I know a lot of fun ever.
Hear um in people raving about it, though, so I don't.
I don't think it's not my favorite. It's not my
favorite of the Star Wars And I saw a memely
other day that I sent to you. Donal they forgot
I don't. I don't think I sent it to Jowell,
but it had those four people on those wacky looking
scooter bikes and and someone wrote like this doesn't look
(14:49):
like anything in the Star Wars universe. Do you know
what I'm talking? Y, Yeah, but that's incorrect. It's a
direct homage to George Lucas and his love of like
old school cars and be a polls. And I think
that's what was some uh European crew, the mod crew something, Yeah,
the mods and the rockers. Yeah, it's a reference to that,
(15:11):
how they used to ride the scooters with all the
lights on them. Yeah, totally. Well, I don't know anything
about any of that, but I just I just I
noticed that Donald, you don't seem as lit up by
it as you are Mandalorian. You're not humming the theme song.
I want to see how it all plays out. I
think the theme song is dope. Uh, it's kind of
a you know what I mean, don't don't do. I
(15:32):
think it's kind of dope. One of the first themes
the feature like heavy um choral performance. Yeah, so you're
gonna get a lot more. They're making more and you're
gonna get obi one coming soon. We're excited. I'm excited
about all of it. I just want to see how
it all plays out. You know what I mean. I
highly recommend the show's Search Party. Have you guys watched
Search Party? No, but I've heard great things. Listen as
(15:55):
I keep meaning to turn on and just listen. You listener.
There Donald doesn't take my recommend nations, but you listener. Um,
I you're looking for a show, right, Well, I'm telling
you this Show's Search Party on HBO Max is so
entertaining and um it's about five seasons and every season
(16:16):
is different, and it's funny and it's surreal and it's
well acted. And I I binged it over the holiday break.
I really recommend it. Okay, now we're watching um Cheer
Season two Cheers Classic Cheer. Do you remember the Netflix?
Oh yeah, I thought you were watching Sam and Diane.
(16:38):
So Cheer was that Netflix documentary series about the cheer
the cheer little little, little tiny school in Texas that
almost always wins the n C Double A cheerleading championship
and it was their story and they got into a
lot of controversy, um because one of the students was
found um uh soliciting sex from miners and from and exchanging, um,
(17:05):
trying to get photos out of them, all all that,
all that ship. He's facing fifteen years in jail, minimum sentence,
minimum fifteen years, and he was the likable star of
the show. So it's bizarres. Been watching season two, you
can see that that he's there and the news hasn't
come out yet, he hasn't been arrested yet, but they've
made him like an extra and then all of a
(17:28):
sudden they have to deal with it. And there's a
whole episode where they deal with how this news broke
and it's um. So it's fascinating. But but that aside
that tragedy, aside of of of what happened, what what
happened to those children? Uh, and the show about the
struggles and the pain that these college kids go through
(17:51):
to try and go to these cheerleading um to win
these cheerleading things, and you cannot believe what they do
with the buddy. There's this one kid this season. They say,
you can't the human eye can't clock it. You have
to watch it in SlowMo. He leaps into the air
Donald and he rotates five times. Oh wow, while flipping
(18:13):
he's he's I mean, it's it's it's I've never seen
anything like it. And then they all they're all injured
and they're all working theirs what's it sounds like they're
probably all in pain. They're all in pain, and you know,
there's not they're none of them have any money. They're
(18:33):
all they're all people. Um seems to me most most
of them are from poor households. There's not doesn't seem
to be a lot of money in the future of this.
They're doing it for the love of the sport. You know.
It's not like it's not like they're gonna go. Where
do they go? I don't even know what they I
guess they a lot of them become teachers of cheerleading
and stuff, but but um, I don't know. I highly
(18:55):
recommend Cheer season two because it explains what happened with
um with that star Jerry from season one. And also
it's just you know, I'm I'm just the sucker for
these stories of these kids who I mean, who are
triumphant and they you know, they tossed these girls in
the air and you're like, oh my god, if they
don't catch her, she's going to become a quadriplegic. It's
(19:16):
so scary, and and sometimes they drop them and they
become quadriplegics. No, but they make them, they make them.
Do they get punished? They have to do like a
hundred push ups? If a hundred push ups with dropping
somebody the punishment literally think it should be more than that.
I think the person that you dropped should be able
to throw you off of some Listen. I think if
(19:40):
you're willing to be tossed thirty ft in the air,
you have to know that occasionally you're gonna get jobs.
And the person that and the person that drops me
I should be able to deal out the punishment. If
that's the case, that would thement. What do you think
is the right punishment for for accidentally there's three? Don't
a lot of hundred push ups? I don't think a
(20:01):
hundred push ups is it? But what can I? What
can I? What can a coach do? Like get a paddle,
you get a spanking? Very interesting practice. Let's take a break.
We'll be right back after these fine words. Daniel, how's
(20:24):
the twitch are you have? This? Has it increased since
we blew you up? It has been great. It's been
a lot of fun. I've been putting more work into
it to make it. You know, they talk about you,
did they talk about you on the New Girl the
Girl podcast talk about you? Not at all? Not at all.
They don't talk about your twitch. They there remember that
(20:48):
when you added in, Daniel, don't talk about your twitch. No,
they don't. That's very sweet. I appreciate that a lot
of Um, it's going great. Hey, Joel, we should have
Zoe Dishnell come on and we'll give her a promo.
I will certainly ask my crossover, not not for a
whole not for a whole thing. We'll just say, hey,
Congrabs on your show, tell us how it's going. If
(21:09):
you want some lessons on how to deal with Daniel
and Joel, we can. Yeah. So sorry, sorry, sorry jumping
around because I'm just aren't excited the twitch. Let's let's
get back to Oh, you're very sweet. It's going great. Um,
it's a lot of fun doing new all sorts of
new segments and um have a lot of fun. I'm
learning Spanish, I'm reading stories online, I'm you learned Spanish
(21:35):
on Twitch. I'm learning I'm taking I'm doing babble and
doing lessons every stream to just like keep my keep
my practice of that sounds like really few people in contact.
I appreciate that. That's well. I only do it for
about ten minutes. But do people join you in these lessons?
Is are you doing it so that you could teach
a bunch of people. No, I'm doing it for myself.
(21:55):
But I made a new segment that's just called Daniel
Learns where I'm trying to like learn new things, and
fully the viewers can learn along with me, but I'm
most just trying it out. I have like a bunch
of new segments that I'm doing that are just like
I wish I could see a graph. I wish I
could see a graph I Donald, I would like to
pay for a test audience. You know when they help.
You can get these people and they have a dial
(22:17):
and when they're enjoying Daniel's twitch, they turn it up,
and when they are not, they turn it down, and
then you we get to watch the graph And I
would like to see when they're most entertained, whether it's
muck bang do you think it would be learning? Something
tells me I've only been in the business for a
few years, but something tells me the learning French segment
(22:38):
the graph goes to the bottom. That might be the case,
and you know what, as we as we progress, maybe
maybe that'll be what happens. But I didn't want Okay,
I appreciate that's that's that's a one second Donald. Is
there a game game are you playing that people are liking?
The most exciting game that you're about to laugh again,
(23:00):
But the most exciting game that's happening on my stream
right now is marble racing. And what that means is, well,
what happens is I start a race and people in
the chat can type play in the chat, and they
have a marble added to the race, and then I
broadcasted like it's a horse race, and people that's dope.
(23:21):
That's dope. So you do a marble racing. Can they
win anything with the marble racing? No, just pride and
like maybe further down the line, I might make a
big prize out of it. I wonder, I wonder if
that's I wonder if you could. I'm sure there's so
many laws against this, but it would be great to
be able to do marble racing, but have people betting
on other people's marvels and trying to make that money
like that. I mean they there are things on Twitch
(23:43):
called channel points. It may not be legal, but there
are things in my Twitch called channel points that you
just a crew by being in the chat and people
will bet channel points, so like they're not betting actual money,
but they're betting this like fake currency that Twitch has. Okay,
are you are you so let's get into it. Are
you into all of this metaverse? Are you going going deep?
Are you? Are you opening the matrix rabbit hole? Uh?
(24:04):
Not necessarily, I mean, like we'll see where it goes
per se. But also like I've been a big VR
guy for a while, and there's things that have been
very metaversey that have happened in VR for years now,
like VR chat and even like Fortnite is its own
kind of like metaverse or whatever. So yeah, but nobody's
buying properly, like people are buying property. Now that's I mean,
you know, hey, go off by your property. But I
wouldn't really understand. I'm happy, I'm happy to be the
(24:27):
idiot who didn't get in on it, but I just
cannot believe people are spending money on virtual property. Until
you made a million on a n F t shoot, Yeah,
I don't know. That's really returns on the whole thing.
I don't understand too old. I think I've reached the
two old to understand it, Marker. I think I think
it's it's like there's like half of our audience, or
(24:49):
there's there's a fraction of our audience right now. That's
like yo, y'all are fucking sleeping and they all just
don't understand. They all got apes in their avatars, all
know what they all they all understand that I don't
understand it. All right, So that's that's Daniel Joel. What's
happening with you? You you've signed on It sounds like
you're you're signing lots of shows on my heart and
(25:12):
what else is it? Are you on Fuego Joel? Yes, truly,
there's a lot of things I can't talk about because
they are not announced yet. But what I can share
is the most rewarding thing I've done while we're on
break is helped co create a diversity, equity and inclusion
initiative I heart called Next up UM. We brought in
(25:32):
eight young podcasters from underserved communities, got them thousands of
dollars of equipment and basically helped produce their first you know,
professional podcasts. UM. We are working on getting all of
their shows picked up to network right now. We're really
excited some of the cool projects we did. UM. We
(25:52):
have this wonderful human name Honey. He lives in Alaska.
He's Indigenous and he's yes, Honey is the best. And
what's He's conserving his indigenous language, his native tongue through podcasting.
So he's talking to other, um, thank you, other like
people who are trying to preserve their language from like
(26:15):
Hawaii and all over the continental US, and they speak
in their native tongues and they talk about like why
it's important and like all kinds of things. It's like
such a beautiful podcast. We have another girl named Yah
who is a victim's rights advocate, so UM, when somebody
has been victimized, she shows up and helps guide them
through the process of like do you want to file
charges or not? How can I help you emotionally? UM.
(26:37):
She's been through a ton of trauma herself, and she
tells her story and how she came through all of
that and like how she's helping other people and what
does justice reform look like? And it's so so good.
She's so talented. I can't wait to share her work
with the world. And there's many many others and I'll
be sharing all of them on my social and we'll
be sharing them across the I heart, um, you know,
(27:00):
broadcast space. So there's a lot of good things coming.
But it's just really rewarding to like work with the
community and help these people who you know, they just sorry,
I gets lestered, but they're like, they work so hard
and they care so much. Um, and the stories they're
telling are often not heard, and UM, I'm just really
(27:20):
excited to bring them to congratulations. Thank you. You can
tell you can you can tell how happy it makes you.
I mean, your whole face is lit up, so you
can you can really see that it's it's making a
difference in your life because you've got the audience can't see.
But Joelity beaming ear to ear when she talks about it.
(27:41):
You can hear it in her voice too. You can
hear the passion in her voice right now too. Behind
all of it. Yeah, and that's that's a that's a
that's a wonderful thing, Joel to have something that you
freaking not only did you you championed. Also you help
bring to the forefront, you know what I mean. That's
making a difference right there, making that change right there. Uh.
(28:05):
You know, it's really interesting. My Heart has done a
lot of that recently, if I if I'm correct, with
the whole unionizing and all of that with writers and
stuff like that. So you know, and I don't, I
don't do you guys know of any other company that
that jumped on these initiatives that fast. It's like, you know,
(28:25):
this is a this in my opinion, these are all
really big deals and to and to you know, I
don't know, no real quick, you know what I mean,
it's one of the left and right. And see a
whole bunch of people doing like really incredible things. Um
Like we have my Cultura, which is like a network
(28:46):
of Latin A podcasts and they're so like diverse and
um some are bilingual and some are in Spanish. And
you know, it's nice to see a lot of those
coworkers who have been championing and trying to you know again,
just get their stories out there, finally do it and
sort of break that glass ceiling. So thank you. Well,
you know, how like when people have a successful podcast
(29:08):
like this one. They sometimes then UM get you know
other podcasts underneath them? They like develop Um, other I
would like to I'd like to develop what's it called
a slate? Yeah, I would, Donald and I would like
to develop a slate. Okay, yeah. And the first guest
I'd like a person I'd like to develop is that
(29:30):
guy Dr Penis. I think he should have Dr Penis
should have a regular podcast. Was wondering where this was going.
I agree with you, listen, Donald, wouldn't. I would tune
into a weekly ask Penis questions. I have so many
Penis questions. I know we gotta have him back on duel.
(29:50):
Can you please book him? Um? Audience loves him and
UM like is there such thing as too much penis?
You know what I mean? Yes, I think the audience.
I have a feeling our audience would say, okay, guys,
enough of Dr Penis. But there's a subset who would
be like, give me all of the penis. Yes, I agree,
(30:14):
we should give me the whole thing. Yes, and we
should serve them Mr Penis, that they should serve them
all the penis they need. You're right, we should fill
them up. Yes, Now you get sew them up with penis. Yes, Joel,
so can you ask Dr Penis? Let's have him back on.
(30:38):
Let's get more penis questions out because I feel I
only the into like a tenth of my penis. Oh
my gosh. And you know I know that, Yeah, I
know that. Your oother your new show, the New Girl
Show is what's it called, by the way, Welcome to
our Show. Well, I'm sure that Welcome to Our Show
(31:00):
is going to have lots of exciting segments, but they
will have nothing as exciting as me and Donald talking
to a urologist about cock Oh gosh. Well jeez, now,
but man, oh man, so Donald, now let's go to
(31:28):
you tell everyone what's happening. I mean, this is a
whole life transformation. For I've known this guy for a
very very long time, and there's two things about him.
He's an incredible actor and hilarious comedic actor. We all
know that, um and he of course is obsessed with
stop motion animation. He loves it, and he finally so impressive.
(31:54):
I talk you up first, he's so impressively finally made
that should happen, and has a show that combines his
comedic skills with stop motion animation. And that's what he's
been working on. Donald's Go. Yeah. You know, I'd love
(32:14):
stop Motion forever. If you listen to the podcast. I'm
very passionate about it. I talked about it all the time.
It's all you post on Instagram. That's pretty much all
I post on Instagram. Now. I talked about my one
of my uh great friends, Seth Green and his company
Stupid Buddy Studios a lot um and how when I
(32:35):
got out to l A, uh or not even when
I got out to l A. He well, when I
got out to l A, he's one of the first
people I met and we've been friends, you know ever since. Um,
and he had a he you know, like we do
this zoom. They did something similar but for Comic Con,
and I off the cuff pitched the idea of the
(32:56):
Black Indiana Jones, calling it Alabama Jackson. They've body was like,
you know, Donald Faison, if you had the opportunity to
run Stupid Buddy Studios for a day, what would you do?
And I said, I create this show Alabama Jackson, and
the head of Adults Swim was on on the Zoom
(33:16):
with us and he asked for a pitch for that
uh in the next couple of weeks go on. I
have never pitched anything in my life. I've never I've
never written anything in my life, you know, not even
in school. In high school. I you know, when it
came to writing things, I tried to find the quickest
(33:37):
way out of it and you know, just throw up
whatever words I needed to and to move on. And
they asked me to pitch something and write something down,
like write a little Bible down. And I did, with
the help of stupid Buddy Studios. I did it. And
then they said, yo, we liked the idea. Let's make
it a Let's make it, uh, you know, a ten
episode webisode type thing. And I was like, yeah, alright,
(33:59):
bet it. They were like, and you're gonna write it.
And I was like, wait a second, what, Yeah, now
you write it? And I got together, you know, for
really awesome people. I got uh, this young lady Ashley Ray,
I got my buddy Lee House um, and myself uh.
(34:19):
And then my mom wrote only yeah, and I got
my mom And so the four of us for a
month sat on zoom and wrote out these you know
episodes for this uh, these webisodes that we're doing for
adult swim and we finished it. Since then, my buddy
(34:45):
Seth has gotten on board. He's written on it as well. Uh, Chris,
my buddy, Chris Waters has written on it as well. Um.
We animated the whole series. Now that's done. We did
the voice. We got Wanda Sykes to play Harriet Tubman.
Let me give me yo, let me just give you
a breakdown of what the show is. It's a fast
(35:06):
pace animated action comedy, sorry, stop motion animated action comedy
show about a man named Alabama Jackson who's saving black
history with Harriet Tubman through time travel. That's the show.
And you guys, I saw. I was lucky enough to
(35:26):
see the first episode animated, and you cannot believe how
good the animation is. It is. It is incredible, and
I laughed my ass off, of course, but I was
just like, bro that there's no difference from what that
looks like and like what a Hollywood studio would put out.
It was incredible. Oh, we worked so hard on it,
(35:48):
Like dude, and tell them how many, like when you
actually got into production, how many different animators were executing
that it looks we had about six. We had about
six animators, seven animators total. Sometimes people came in guests animated.
There were a lot of animators that I reached out
to to try and get them on board, uh through
because you know, like, Okay, so you write it and
(36:10):
you create all of this, but it's art, man, It's
not just you know, you know, I look at Okay,
it's weird because I look at my acting and stuff
like that. Yeah, it's an art form and it's a
craft and everything like that, but I look at this
more as like fine art in a lot of ways,
because it's there's so much more to just you know,
my body creates the the my illusions and stuff like that,
(36:32):
and I have a crew that creates the illusions. I
need way more people to create uh what we did,
and we did it with a small group of people,
and they all worked really really, really really hard because
they believed in what we were making. And I'm just
so excited. We're now when we get to hear you
(36:52):
tell everyone when we get to see them. We're now
in the process of doing uh final mix on sound
and final special and the special effects and everything like that. Um,
I'm not exactly sure uh when it's coming out, but
we have to deliver it by February. Okay, all right, well, uh,
you will be keeping you posted fans here on all that,
(37:15):
Oh I forgot. There's so many other things, like I
got my brother, uh and my nephew UH wrote on Uh.
He did a lot of the music on this. My
nephew is this amazing rapper. His name is Mizel and
he helped me with a few things. Let's just say
in this uh, in this series, I'm really excited about it.
(37:39):
I mean, you should be you should be you you
It's incredible. You know when your friend shows you like, hey,
here's that thing I've been working so hard on. You're
always like, oh, please be good. And it was fucking awesome. Dude,
you saw I know, if I saw Ruff, the mouths
weren't fully animated yet. But but but dude, what I
(38:01):
saw was incredible and I was so impressed by your arm.
So that was one one of the Pykes. It's it's
Donald and Wanda Psykes is the two main characters, which
you know, what more do you need to know? Oh?
And then you know, uh, we have Seth on the show,
like just the fact that you know Seth is very
invested in the show as well, and so it's really
(38:21):
cool to have him on board and have the whole
stupid buddy team on board. Like you know, I'm I
don't know, man, I'm over the moon about it. I
I could go on anyway. That was the first thing
I did. And then the second thing I did. I
did something that I can't really talk about. But there's
a project coming soon. And it's not Star Wars, but
there's a project coming soon. Even though Danny Trejo was
(38:43):
in Star Wars as the Machete, it's not Star Wars.
But there's a project coming soon that, uh, you guys
should all look out for. I can't talk about it.
It's secretive, but it's real in the field. When will
we know about When will we be able to know
more about that one in a cup? In a few
weeks and a few weeks it will air on television.
I'm just gonna put it out there. It'll be something
(39:05):
out there that you know you didn't expect to see. Oh,
so you're gonna keep it as a surprise. I think
on the show, we should let our amazing listeners know
what to look out for because they might not watch
said show. But as you get closer, but as I
can't do that right now? Are you have to be
a reveal or like the week before, could you say, hey, guys,
(39:28):
watch you can't even do it. I can't even dal
and so I can't say I have one of those
two as you as you three know, I have one
of those two. I'm a secret. I'm a secret reveal
I'm not allowed to talk about, but I'm probably gonna
talk about mine before the week of I'm gonna I
(39:49):
think I'm gonna give our listeners, who we love so much,
heads up for our secret reveal. Okay, well, I like that,
I like I like I like that that's your strategy.
I don't know if the people that you were going
to that you worked for like that strategy, but I
like that. I don't think that the people that I
(40:09):
worked for are listening to our podcast and will care
that much. It's proof that they do. All right, Listen,
I want to I want to give myself a shout
out before I say about my film, and that is
that I just got an email saying, Um, Timpanie, please dale, Um.
Cheaper by the Dozen will be on Disney Plus March. Listen,
(40:35):
you guys, I never made a family anything other than
chicken little as you know. And I'm finally for those
of you know Cheaper by the dozen, the Steve Martin
version or there's an old classic version. Um, I yeah,
there's there's a there's there was an older I don't know,
maybe jewel you can look up when it came out.
(40:57):
But I believe there's a book initially, and I believe
it was based on a true family. And then um,
they made the first film and then has a book
from So the book was from that's the original novel
by Ernestine Gilbert carry uh. And then yeah, in the
(41:18):
nineteen fifties there was a movie. Yeah, and then of
course the Steve Martin one. And ours is a mixed
race family, um with a gabby union and myself are
raising all these kids, yes, Donald Further, I just want
to put it out there. They made a Star is
Born several times. Yes, every time. Yes, this is my
(41:38):
turn to be the Bradley Cooper. Let's go, No, I
I I think listen, I it is great family fair.
I promise you your kids will love it. It is
so it's got something for every every age kid. And
I think it's it's very sweet. I hope you love
(42:00):
it and it's obviously something you can watch with your
children because they're gonna laugh at stuff, and you're gonna
laugh at stuff. And I'm really proud of it. And
it's on Disney Plus March eighteenth, So putting your eykel, guys,
of course I'll bring it up again. But there you go.
You get to see me. I haven't. I haven't acted,
um in a second, um, and I'm I'm yeah, you have.
(42:21):
You've been acting, dude, You just haven't. You've been working.
You haven't listened, dude. Well the pandemic wise, I did
a little. I did some more directing than I did acting. Um,
but but I did like three movies, dude, I all,
but they're small parts anyway, irrelevant. The point is segue
into the director. I kind of and I kind of
(42:44):
messed that up for you my bed. No, I just
want to say anythink I'm most proud of. I spoke
about it on here. Um, but I made him. I
made my fourth film. Um, it's called A Good Person.
It stars um Florence. There's your do it down here,
(43:04):
quick turnaround, Danneline did it for you, Although you're gonna
have to pull out that tympani Um. Listen I had
this glorious experience. Um, Florence Pugh, Morgan Freeman, Molly Shannon,
UM incredible actress named Zoey Lester Jones, an amazing actor
named chan Nazach, a young lady named Celeste O'Connor. For
(43:25):
those of you who saw the latest Ghostbusters, she was
in in that, I believe is is love interest. I
don't know. I didn't see it, but man, is she
an actress. And um, it was really a very hard shoot.
We shot it the whole film in twenty six days,
if you know production, that's pretty darn fast. And um,
and it's pretty magical. I think I'm really proud of it.
(43:48):
I'm here at my at my house cutting it, and uh,
it's a it's it's a dark drama, but like um,
a lot of my other films, it also has moments
where you laugh her ass off. And uh, Florence, I'm
sure most people aren't surprised to know that her performance
is just unbelievable. I just think she's an extraordinary actress.
(44:09):
And of course her her her scene partner is Morgan Freeman,
who's a living legend. And um, and I'm I'm editing
it right now and I'm really really proud of it,
and um and uh and actually, Donald, you're gonna see it. Um,
we are. We My wife is very excited. I'm very excited.
(44:29):
I sent out an email. I wanted to know how
much I love your wife. I sent out an email too.
You know, you start in the business, you do these
things called friends and family. Screening is kind of early
on when you're like, okay, I gotta cut. You know,
we're at the point where it's you know, we're two
people in a room. You know, you you kind of
at a certain point you need feedback. Um, you're not
ready to show it to large audiences or anything like that,
(44:50):
but you know you need you need thirty random friends
of yours and family members of yours too, to say, hey,
I think it's a little slow here, or hey, that
Joe could be funnier if this happened. You know, you
just need some feedback anyway. So I sent an email,
mass email and the like. Within seconds, Casey replied, babysitter
booked We'll be there, And that just makes me love her.
(45:16):
I know I love you too, And the fact that
you were the very first to reply, and men's a
lot to me. So you guys will be there. You
all remember the fame. I think if you for an
avid listener of this podcast, you'll remember the Garden State
story involving Donald. But I'll remind you that we did
one of these for Garden State, and I was battling
with my producers because they kept saying, you have to
(45:39):
cut out one of these endings. The film has too
many endings. It's it's lose this one. And I kept saying, no,
I want to leave that. I really like that. I
think I think you're wrong. And Danny DeVito, who was
one of the producers, exact producers of Garden State, we
do the friends and family screening. It's probably I don't
know people there. He goes, how many of you? He
(46:03):
was leading sort of like Q and A after how
many of you feel the movie has too many endings?
One hand shoots up one hand. I have defense, of course,
of all one one. It's Danny DeVito, dude. So part
of me is like, dude, Danny DeVito is asking for
my my true specifically, not specifically, it felt like it
(46:28):
felt like that. It felt like he was talking to
me like Donald helped me out here. And I was
like Danny, I got you. Danny, I got you. Let
me neget that. I never forget that. First of all,
I don't ever want a yes man. And I'm happy
that you uh spoke out. And I think I probably
eventually cut whatever I didn't think I did couver we
(46:48):
were arguing about. Anyway, there's that old expression, if enough
people tell you you're drunk, maybe you should sit down
and uh. And the same goes with editing. If people
keep saying the same note over and over and again,
you have to diagnose the note and and and do
something about it. Otherwise you're just looking for people to
agree with you, which is which is ludicrous. But anyway,
I just thought it was funny that this was like
(47:09):
a bone of contention with me and my producers at
the time, and everyone else was sort of being two
polite in Donald's defense. But the only hand that shot
up was Donald. And then he had a long monologue
about why there were too many endings. I did it.
Just listen, man, It just what I had suggested, was I.
I suggested, you know, maybe add something in between, because
(47:31):
it seems like he's leaving and there's no out of nowhere.
He just shows up and we did kind of weird
you know what, and we did you know that if
you're if you're a Garden State UM aficionano and you
know the film, UM that that section of of of
Large getting on the plane at the end and you
think he's actually going and there's a cool, a timeless
(47:54):
shot of flying over the seats that was all created
after the film had been So we sold the film
and Sundance and and uh Fox Searchlight who bought it,
said we love it. Is there anything you want to
do to it? And I was like, what, like, yeah,
if you if you if you feel like you can
fix a certain note that's bothering you with a day
(48:16):
of photography, or that it is so that we will
will pay for it. And I was like okay, and
one of them and one of the things we did
was address a note that you had and others had,
was that you needed more even though we're talking about seconds,
you still needed more time between Large leaving um Sam
at the airport and then coming back and uh sorry,
(48:39):
not just that you got to you got to shoot
a bunch of other shots, like one time you shot
uh that shot of your boy who created the velcrow
and yes, oh, my god, your memory. God, that's true.
I I have to be honest. I don't even remember
if that's in the movie. It is in the movie.
(49:00):
Is in the movie? It is? And then you and
you use the crew from Scrubs actually to keep this
about the Scrubs rewatch podcast. You use I think calviy Ethan.
I think Sean worked on because you had a little
miniature crane and all of that stuff, and you use
that all in the backyard, in my backyard and the
pool that I had at the time with your boy
(49:23):
on a floaty. Yeah, that's right. Oh my god, good
memory for a stoner anyway, So I'll be keeping you
guys posted on that. It's called I'm only on I'm
only doing wheat for to fight. Oh my crown must
be anyway, So I'll keep you guys posted about that.
(49:45):
I'm very proud of it. Um, even though I made
four films obviously, um um going in salad and write.
But so this is the third one I've written. Um.
The middle one I wrote with my brother Garden Stata
or alone, and this one I wrote alone. And um,
you know it came out of the pandemic and sitting
(50:05):
here and and the grief I had for for losing
Nick and for you know, losing my sister and my
father and even my little dog, all within a couple
of years. So um, but I don't want anyone to
think it's it's this super modelin film, and it is.
It is. It is a drama. But um, there's there's
also moments of levity and it's just, um, I don't know.
(50:27):
I think you're all gonna like it. I hope you
like it. Well, you got my favorite actress in it
right now, man, you know Lawence Pew, you're a fan, huh.
I am a huge fan of Florence Pew. Man. It
seemed to me and not shocking that your your love
of Florence Pew went up even further when you saw
her on Hawkeye. Well, I've only seen a few of
you know. I just knew her as the girl you were, uh,
(50:50):
you know, making a movie with and dating and stuff,
and I was like, okay, you know that's cool. I
hadn't really seen her work because I have a tendency
to this is a problem of mine. Once I see
somebody's work, I am forever a fan, no matter who
it is. Now, this this doesn't This doesn't mean that
(51:10):
I'm not a fan of Florence, but like I saw
her work on Hawkeye, and tell you something right now,
she made that show better than it was, man, you
know what I mean, Like she took the show up.
No disrespect to you and your marvel nous out there,
the people that love Marvel and everything like that. But
until Florence, you've gotten that show. It was I you
(51:31):
know what I mean. But her scenes were fired, dude,
you know, and I really like her scene. There's a
very long scene. Maybe they maybe they cut away and
come back to it so it's not on one chunk,
but that whole scene with her and Haley in the
apartment with the and Florence being Florence, for those you
don't know, is makes up a lot of stuff. And
(51:54):
uh so I I was watching and being like, did
you make that up? Did you make that up? And
she said yeah, yeah, uh so, um so there you go.
Um Donald Hawkeye, Yes, Hawkeye too, Hawkeye. I freaking loved it.
I'm a big Hayley Steinfeld stand. And then like, knowing
(52:14):
what might come out of Hawkeye like a young Justice
sort of vibe is what I'm really hoping for. And
Florence and Haley together even like they're like elevator scene
where they were doing the uh McCauley culkin like pushing
all the buttons and just it's okay, it's hilarious. There's
some do you want to know a funny story. I'm
(52:36):
sorry I took. We were in um Rocket Feller's Center
over Christmas and Carrie Brothers and his wife Jess Weiss
were there visiting, and they said, carry said a sentence
I never ever wanted to be said to me, which was,
guess what I got us all tickets to go ice
(52:58):
skating and Rocket Color Center at the height of Christmas? Right,
And I'm like, you did? Why would you do that?
And he goes because Jess and I think it would
be romantic, and he's like, don't worry, we got you
in Florence tickets. So I'm like, I mean, if you
(53:19):
live in New York, you do not want to go
to Rocket our Son or a Christmas I don't care.
All right, it's Mayhem, it's packed, it's tourism, it's Omicron
all that ship. So we go because I'm trying to
be the best boyfriend in the world and I'm certainly
not going to let her go like be the third
wheel on their date. That would be horrible. But I rally.
We get there in Florence and we're skating on the
(53:41):
we're doing that. You know, you have like forty five
minutes a slot to skater had the experience right, and
Florence is looking around. She's like, do you guys want
to know something funny? I've been on this before, but
it was recreated in in Atlanta on a sound stage.
(54:03):
So that whole epic, epic thing that she has an
hawkeye was that was her first first time at the
Rocket ice rink, was shooting that in Atlanta, and now
she's on the real thing. Uh, that's like going to
the Paris in Vegas. First, that's great. Dull alright, well, Joel,
(54:26):
what are we um? What? I've lost track where we
are in the show. We're gonna pick up next week?
Were number five, six, seven, eight. We're rusty. We're rusty,
all right? Do announce so they can hear that we're ending.
But do it now? Well, you know I do want to. Well,
we'll go out with it. We'll go out with it. Sorry, guys,
We're rusty. We're rusty. Okay, this is this is how
this show is going so far. I'll snake some ad
(54:50):
breaks in there too. We'll figure that out. Let's take
a break. We'll be right back after these fine words.
Can you mention your cock so I can use Deb's
Willie's things. Yeah, just saying anything about your car um, Yes,
(55:14):
misses you Fox saying stop talking about you kind of
about five middle only lamar lamar um yellow jackets. Anybody
watching that? We just started watching too much? Oh my god,
(55:36):
something like play a video game or something. Be out
of here, Donald days on video game. I'm not playing
any video games. So I'm doing right now, to be
honest with you, was working on my stop motion right right.
I'm trying to level up to god level, dude. That's
what I'm trying to do with the stop motion animation.
And it's Hardin't it good for you? You're putting nobody cares.
(55:58):
A lot of people care, Joel, what sorry? I lost
track of what episode are we going to do on
next week? I believe we're going back on twenty episode three,
which means we have two episode five season five. Okay, Well,
I'm glad we slowed down because we were going way
too fast, and we promised to invite all your favorite guests.
(56:18):
We're gonna get back on it and uh and get
Johnny because this new girl freaking I know now that
Joel is like Joell has proven that she can get
really good guests were on the phone. We're not going
to be We're not gonna get Joel on the phone anymore. Dude,
I always answer her. She's a little st Have you
(56:39):
noticed she's a little slower to the group chat? Alright? Donald,
have you noticed she? Oh no, she she got way
too many jobs now too hard. Yeah, she's got Zoe
Deschanelle on speed doll. That's all I know. You'll be
funny if Joel cut bangs, I'm straight hair of bangs.
(57:18):
Oh god. But she comes on the show trying to
have like nothing's different. She's like me and Zel are going,
Me and Zelle are going to spend all right, we
love you all and we're back and we're going to
(57:38):
make you laugh. You know, I want to We're not
gonna do it today, but I do want to play
