Speaker 1 (00:05):
What's going on? Everybody. Welcome into Fantasy pros.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
This is leading off live the Fantasy Baseball Podcast. I'm
your host, Joe Rico, and today I'm joined by my
good friend Casey Bubba. As usual here in September, we
talk to you through all the fantasy baseball headlines, news
and notes, injuries, and all the rest of the good
East Bubba great, be back with you, my friend.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
How you doing today?

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Doing well? The Friday, heading into another weekend. Got three
weeks of baseball left. There's some other sport being played
on another feed. We have so all that great stuff,
but baseball is still going strong in my world and
I'm guessing yours as well.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah, this is this is a crazy time of year
right now.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Man.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
As soon as the Thursday night football game started yesterday
and my brain was like, okay, now it's crunch time.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Now.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
We only have a couple of weeks left. We do
have some.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Football questions in the chat, as we did the other day.
I'm not again, like I'll say the other day, I'm
not gonna be the one who can answer these. I'm
picking Ricky Paul probably in that first one, and probably
put Checko for the second one, but I'm not the guys.
Go over to the football feed, Go over to Fantasy
Pros on Discord, get your questions answered over there. On
the football side, we're talking baseball here, folks. We only
have a handful of shows left on the baseball calendar

(01:10):
and we are going to be focusing in on MLB.
But I want to give something away first. We've been
talking about the Billy Wagner jersey for quite a while
and we are going to be given that away today.
The winner is Robbie RTU seventeen. Congratulations Robbie, be in
contact with us at mailbag at Fantasypros dot com with
your mailing address and a screenshot of your YouTube account

(01:32):
well logged in. Once we confirm, we'll get your prize
shipped out. And congrats again to Robbie BURRTWU seventeen. But
you're probably thinking, man, I wanted to win some Billy
Wagner merge. What's going on here? I really wanted to win?
Well you still can, because the next giveaway is a
Billy Wagner signed baseball courtesy of our friends at Pristine
Auction dot com. All you have to do to enter
is subscribe to the Fantasy Pros MLB YouTube channel right now,

(01:54):
drop a comment below on any video and that's it.
We announced in a one lucky winner right here on
the channel. So turn the with K so you can
know when new videos are up and to claim your
prize if you haven't done so already. Guys would really
appreciate anybody subscribing to the channel, whether it's on the
YouTube feed, audio feed, however you can help us out,
that would be much appreciated. And we really appreciate Michael,

(02:14):
who just resubbed with Prime. He says he almost feels
out of touch having a bye this week. Someone dropped
Keishel in his league worth grabbing him and dropping Simpson Bubba.
What are your initial thoughts on that one?

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Honestly, if I'm guessing bye week means he has a
head to head format for the playoffs, I would lean
Keishel because he's going to be more category Simpsons, primarily
as steals. Maybe some bad and average er Keishel's could
help in all five categories. So I'm just off of
what I think his league format is. I would go
Keishel pretty quickly.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, I think I agree, unless you're super super desperate
for speed.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
I think Keishall is a more well rounded player, but
we are going to dive into some of the headlines.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
We'll get to some of your questions later.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
So fill up the chat and we will do a
little segment later to answer your questions. Well, let's start
off with Paul Skeins. I don't even know what to
do with this guy anymore. He's just so good. Six
innings yesterday with eight strikeouts against the Dodgers, two run balls,
two hits, one hundred and seventy three innings this year.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
It's one hundred.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
It's a one ninety eight ERA, a point nine to
four whip, is a twenty three point one strike up
minus walk craton. We're at the point where Skeens has
a good number of innings under his belt. It's over
three hundred, three hundred and six innings and it's a
one nine to seven ERA and a point nine to
four whip. I don't even know how to categorize as
anymore like this. He might be the best pitcher in baseball.

(03:29):
He might not be, but I don't know that I
remember seeing a pitcher start their career on fire to
this degree. I don't know what to make of him, Babba.
I think that he's the best picture in the league, probably,
But what are.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Your thoughts on Paul Skeens.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
I'll still get Scooble that nod, but it's nothing against
Paul Skeens. Skeens has been awesome. He's got that pedro
esque stat line that you're reading off there that we've seen.
He's a beast. If he was on a better team,
we'd talk about him even more. To put it that way,
he's pretty darn good. It's actually impressive. Last night we
found we've taking in on him. He's got ten wins

(04:01):
on the year, so that's come quick after he seems
like he had none forever. But yeah, he's one of
the best. I'll say that much. He's pretty darn good.
He's super young, He's built like a horse, so hopefully
that longevity sticks there and hopefully gets out of Pittsburgh
where he can be appreciated more.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
So you think it's I don't have any real argument
of Scooble over schemes. Do you think we'll see scooball
go over skiins pretty consistently in drafts next year?

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Do you think there'll be some mixing and matching there.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
I still think it's Scoble over Skins. We've seen it
back to back years and he's probably gonna win the
Alsa Young for the second straight season. Deconsistency that he's shown,
not that Skeins hasn't. Obviously, I think there will still
be a little bump there for sure.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Yeah, I like be saying here in the chat it's
a better team context, more win probability. I think it's
still Scoobale. But Paul Skins man just unbelievable every time out.
It seems like he's doing amazing things. But let's keep
it going here with Rangers Suarez, another strong day for him.
This one came against the Brewer short slate yesterday. We
do have a pretty full list of headlines anyway. Six innings,

(05:03):
six heads nowhere and runs, two walks and four strikeouts.
Rangers Suarez is somebody that I think was relatively cheap
in draft season. From what I remember, he's giving you
a two eighty nine ERA and a one eighteen whip,
but importantly for fantasy managers as well, eleven wins in
his twenty two starts. What do you make a Ranger Suarez?
We've seen some pretty consistent production from him over the years,
but he still doesn't feel like a safe pick necessarily.

(05:26):
I'm like, thinking forward to twenty twenty six, I don't
think of Suarez is like, oh, I'll take him as
MYSP three, and it's you know, I'm good to go there.
I think there's still some worry in the back of
my head, but maybe that's not justified anymore.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
But but what do you think.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
He's going to have his hiccups? That's for sure. We
saw him absolutely dominate to start the season once he
came off the il, of course, and then he like
I said, the hiccups were there, but he's back to
being that guy. He's always been a pretty strong strikeout
arm when he's rocking and rolling and ratios of honestly,
he's been a very solid pitcher. He's not quite a
fantasy too, probably, but at least a three pretty religiously

(06:00):
win healthy and like he said, we're seeing that again
that he's just PC down. It's from two and runds
or less in four straight starts after he had like
a four to five star hiccup in the middle there,
but prior to that was three year in runs or
less every single start. So I think it's who he is.
You roll with them. But fact, like you said, he
went into Milwaukee, which is definitely one of the best
teams in baseball right now, and took care of business.
It's good. It's a good arm to have for the

(06:21):
final three weeks of the season.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Absolutely. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
I think he's the kind of guy where maybe he's
just a boring player that will return value and he's
just somebody that will get passed up in drafts because
people want to shoot for the upside and shoot for
the moon.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
But good team context, He's been.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Performing for the majority of his career at this point,
so maybe I need to give him a little bit
more respect than I am. Rangers Suarez on the other
side of that matchup, though, Freddy Peralta another great start
his season as a whole, I think it may have
flown under the radar to some degree a little bit.
He's a two to five to zero era, a one
zero seven whip and sixteen wins, which to lead Major
League Baseball, and he's actually the sp if you look

(07:01):
at the Fangrafts player raider behind Crochet.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
If all these schemes Intererique.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Schooble, are we not respecting Freddy Parlta enough should he
be somebody that is in that like third round mix
next year in the top ten starting pitchers for you.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Well, as I refer to him, it's Frederick Peralta, and
that's the respect I put on him there. But yes,
he's absolutely outstanding. I think he always falls out the
top ten because a and he's even doing it this year.
He doesn't go past five six innings like ever, so
he doesn't go deep into games. He still has a
bit of a walk issue that's been a thing as
whip so it's not the you know, he gets you
a little whipsawd from time to time. But one reason

(07:35):
I've always loved him is the strikeouts are as legit
as they come. Like he's one of the few guys
that gets you one ninety two hundred plus strikeouts potentially
year and year out. So top ten loose term, I could,
I won't argue if someone wants to put him in
the back end of the top ten. He's definitely like
a top fifteen for me. I love him, like even
this past season. If you can go into a draft
and somehow Freddy's your sp two outstanding. I did an

(07:58):
online Championship. He was my first pitcher. I took him
in round nine. He fell that far happy as could be.
So I love Freddy what he's doing, I believe in
it's just he's I don't think he gets the love
because he doesn't go deep into games.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Yeah, I think that that's pretty fair. But Peralta, what
he's done throughout his whole career has been pretty consistent.
Like there have been some ups and downs. It's probably
the best we've ever seen of him. But I've never
really looked at him as anything less than maybe an
SP two for fantasy.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
And the price this year was so good.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
I made the decision a couple of times between him
and Zach Allen in drafts a couple times this year
and could not have been more of a binary choice
there between having a good season and having a bad season.
Gallan turned around a little bit recently, which is good
to see, But man, I wish I picked p Alta
every single time. Ryan BCFB first time chatter, is this
who I think it is?

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Bubba?

Speaker 3 (08:48):
It is exactly who you think he is because it
is on his second shift of the day. He's a
die hard college football NCAA player, so that is who
you think it is, and just saying he's not bad
at what he does. He does his show called Bubba
the bloom just throwing it out there.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Yeah, you know, he might have a whole shelf full
of FSWA awards and whatnot, and I might as well
just say it now, Ryan Bloomfield from who will be
my co on Monday for the show sitting in for
Bubba who will not be able to make it. But
we can't get Bubba, we might as well get bloom
That one will be a lot of fun. You got me,
We do, indeed gotcha, Ryan. I didn't get it at first, BCFB,

(09:27):
and I'm off my game today. I should have figured
that one out a little bit sooner. Let's talk to
Jordan Alvarez, who is back and he has actually really
been performing well. He hit a second home run since
returning from the injured list, and I think I got
like several messages that were not even a question.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Yesterday was just thank God, thank God.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
I've waited around for ord On and he is finally
here for the Fantasy playoffs. And what he's done is
he's come back fourteen for twenty eight seven runs to
home or seven ribbys. The question here really for me
is what do we do with him next year? Because
if you have him this year, obviously you're starting him.
He was isn't dropped anywhere, or if he was, then
you picked him up already. I don't know what the
what the price am ASTs for next year. Is he

(10:06):
a second rounder? Is he a potential end of the
first rounder.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
I don't think so. Is he into the third round?

Speaker 2 (10:11):
I have no idea, But but where are you at right
now on jord Nolverez's evaluation.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
I usually avoid him because of the injury concerns. I
know it's a bad like he plait one hundred and
forty seven games last year, but then it was one fourteen,
one thirty five, one forty four, so he's all over
the board. He saw thirty home runs in four straight seasons.
He had two ninety or better over three hundred for
two of the last three. Like the tools are amazing.
I should maybe be more interested. He's played thirty six
games this year, so that's been a big bummer. If

(10:35):
you avoided that. I think he'll still go in the
second round because people will see that batting average. And
we talked about how it. You know, it's a rodostat
that seems to get overlooked from time time to time,
but it's one of those that when the league average
is hitting like two forty, to get a guy hitting
three hundred is more than tremendous, not to mention the
power he brings to the table. Not a big run
producer though, if you want to, like, if I want

(10:57):
to throw a grain of salt there, he's never had
one hundred rb ice well anyone, Sorry, it's been a
while because he's had one hundred RV guys, you'd think
a guy with his power would just destroy things. So
someone will take him in the second round. It will
not be me. Now, if you filled the third round,
I'd have a hard time saying no. But I am
always concerned with these injury guys. It's just who I am.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah, I think this profile is one that I really
like in the last couple of years, with the way
that steels are easier to get. If you can get
a guy who's going to hit three hundred, who's going
to hit you thirty thirty five homers, that's the whole
argument for taking Vlad at the end of the first round. Now,
Vlad has been completely opposite in terms of jord On
in terms of durability in his career. But that type

(11:37):
of profile where you're getting a high batting average with power,
I think, like you said, that'll keep people interested in
him in the second round, and if he falls to
the third, I'm going to be clicking draft quite a bit,
and I'll probably slip it on the banana peel again
because's the astros and who really knows with them what
to make of anybody. But let's talk about another guy
who's been disappointing this year. Not to the same level
as Yard and Alvarez, but Mookie Betts went Yard yesterday

(11:58):
and started to turn his season around a little bit
as of late. Over the last thirty days, he's hitting
three twenty six, twenty runs scored, four homers, and thirteen ribies.
But overall for Muki, it has still been a really
disappointing season. I feel for those who might have paired
Jordan Alvarezen Mooki Bets at the first and second round,
but I mean ninety six WRC plus for Mookie, He's
hitting two fifty, only fifteen homers, single digits, steals for

(12:20):
the first time since twenty fourteen.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
I feel like I'm gonna be a fade on.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Mooki next year. I think he's gonna be a guy
where the name value still keeps him too expensive for me.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Bubb what do you think?

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Yeah, I've been fading him for a little while now,
like it kind of backfired in twenty two and twenty three,
to be fair, but the other years, like he always
gets massive hype and he's, like I said, outside of
two years, has he really met that first or second
round value? Probably not. We don't play in a WRC
plus league unfortunately, so that that ruins that for us.

(12:49):
But with Mooki, I guess the question for people is
do you believe the early illness that made him lose
all the way? Do you think that's the reason. I
don't think so, because I figured that would be fixed
by now, just my assumption with all the money the
Dodgers have, So I'm out. I've always been out on Mooki.
Heck of a talent, but I think he's gonna be
thirty three next year. We might be looking towards a
different path here.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah, we mentioned it on the show the other day.
Age thirty two to age thirty three. There's a lot
of data that shows that can be the time when
players kind of fall off. While his barrel rates at
four point four percent, hard hit rate at thirty four,
average EV at eighty eight, max EV at one oh seven,
these are all the lowest numbers I believe in his career.
Just doing a quick glance, certainly the worst he's been

(13:30):
in a long time, especially in terms of the barrels.
Four and a half percent barrel rate is pretty terrible.
So I think Mooki is probably gonna have to be
a fade at this point, unfortunately, unless he starts to fall.
But like I said, the fact that he's mookie best,
he probably won't fall that much. But you know, just
coming you said, we don't play in WRC plus league,
wouldn't be fun. If there was a league that was
just advanced stats x fIF WRC plus stuff plus about

(13:51):
that would be kind of a fun little league to play.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
And I think we.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Lose ninety percent of the NPC audience, so it'll be entertaining.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Might be worth it, might be worth it.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
At that point, let's talk VINNP who I know you
have no problem talking about Bubba twenty ninth home run
of the season yesterday. He's hit ten in the last
thirty days. He and Bryce Terrang have been eating their
weedies in the month of August and into September because
they have been just hitting the cover off the ball.
First base is a very deep position, and because of that,
Vinnip is still eleventh for the season. But I feel

(14:24):
like he's probably somebody I'm going to rank as a
top ten first baseman next year. He's giving you tons
of power. He's giving you the RBI. The batting average
isn't quite as high as I was hoping, necessarily at
two fifty eight, but like we talk about all the time,
the league average is like two thirty three or something,
So two fifty eight you're still taking it. I love Vinp.
I've really fallen in love with him this season. But
but is he a top ten first basement heading in

(14:45):
the next year.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
I think so. Like I'm looking at the meatball draft,
he was like the seventh or eighth first basement on
the board, and yours truly took him with that. I
love Vinip. He's helping me tremendously in an auction league
this year because he was so cheap. Because people kind
of overlooked him because of recent performances between the shoulder injuries.
He's healthy this year. The power's there. He's still driving

(15:08):
in a ton of runs, hit in the middle of
that order. He'still hitting for the same average. Like, the
skills are awesome and he's only twenty seven. Like, I
love everything about VNP as long as those shoulders stay intach.
I don't see why he can't do this or maybe
more for the next three four years least.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Yeah, it's surprising that, like looking at wins above replacement,
not that we really care about that for fantasy, but
he's only at one point two, And I guess it's
because the defensive adjustments really really hurt you there.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
At first, you look at his defensive numbers. That's bad.
He's bad at defense.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
It looks like negative three defensive runs save negative three
holts have average. Yeah, that's not exactly anything too right.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Now you feel like at defensive war it's minus twelve
point eight.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Man, I feel like first basement, get the first baseman
get hit a little bit too much, I think, But
I'm not. I'm actually not that familiar with vnp's defensive
active and off the top of my head. But the
DRS and OIA is not amazing from him, But we
don't really care about that.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
As long as he's hitting thirty, we're driving in one hundred.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
And he's the type of guy I think it's spike
a three hundred season pretty easily given his profile, or
even into the two eighties two nineties, it wouldn't really
surprise me. Let's talk PCA. He's been benched the last
couple of games. The Cubs are trying to give him
a little bit of a mental rest. I feel like
if you have PCA, it would be very hard to
actually bench him, but it would have been the correct
call for the last couple of months at this point.
Let's say he gets back in the lineup over the

(16:22):
weekend after this bit of a mental reset where you
have him, would you be sticking him back in there
in there or would you be leaving him on the
bench for a while.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
He's on the bench until otherwise, like since the All
Star break, two twelve three homers, four steals. That is horrific.
He's crushing your team. I've told people in our discord
for Bubb and the Bloom that ten teams you should
drop him twelve teams, I wouldn't stop you fifteams. You
hold in bench like he's were three weeks left in
the year. Especially if you're in like a head to head,
like a playoff format, you can't afford to hope he

(16:50):
figures it out, like you need to play guys that
are producing. And yeah, it was a phenomenal first half
of the season, but we talked twenty twenty six a
lot shoe. He is going to be a very difficult
one to figure out because the skills we saw, the
results we saw in the first half. We all kept saying, like,
the skills that are being showcased are still like tough

(17:10):
to believe. Now he's doing this in the second half,
so the analysis for twenty twenty six be really tricky.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Yeah, Beck, who's a friend who covers the minor leagues
and prospects. He tweeted a couple I think it was
a couple months ago he said Pete Armstrong was breaking
everything I thought I knew about player evaluation, and then
he quoted that a few weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
He's like, oh, maybe not maybe not. Things do even out.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
But even with things evening out for the season, PCA
is a twenty six dollars player, twenty first ranked player overall,
still ahead of guys like Corbyn Carroll, ahead of Yelich,
ahead of Terrang, ahead of Kyle Talker like he still
had overall a very good season. I think that'll be
what people need to figure out heading into drafts. I
thought that he could potentially get into the first round.

(17:51):
That was a few weeks ago. Now I'm thinking it's
been bad enough where you'll get him in the second,
potentially even into the third round in some rooms.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
But it'll be an interesting one to follow.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
If PCA has a smoke in hot September, you might
go back in the first round.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Right.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
So this is gonna be a very volatile price to
pay attention to over the next couple months. But that's
why we do it. This is why we do it.
We love That's why I do it anyway. I love
following these market trends heading into draft season. Where guy's
going in November versus where he's going in March. I
eat that stuff up. Is Parker Messic a good streamer
for today? I personally don't like it. Against the Rays
at home, he's been pretty good. I feel like if

(18:25):
you have better options and you want to sit him,
then that's fine. But I like Parker Messick quite a bit.
I wouldn't have any problem starting him. But but what
about you.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Not knowing the format if it's twelve team or shallow
or I probably wouldn't because of the Tampa Bay Ballpark.
They do hit lefties, Okay, is what I'll say. That
just scares me. Messic out lit up in his last start.
So our outlet up got hit harder in his last start,
I should say, so I be cautious.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Okay, you guys done with Yuri now ten teamer? Usually
I would say probably, But it's a keyper for so.
I think it depends on how many keepers you have.
If it's like two keepers, probably not. If you have
five or six keepers, I think you got to probably
keep ery there. But it really depends on how many
so big dance. If you can follow that up, I will.

(19:14):
I think a little bit more contacts would really help
with that one. What to do with Tucker and at
least for Friday starts, both of their statuses are super sketchy.
I think you just got to check back in right
before game time. If you're in a daily lineup league.
If you're setting your lineup for Friday through Sunday like
you would on the NFBC, Bubba, and we don't have
much clarity. Or let's say they're sitting out Friday, would
that make them a sit for the weekend for you?

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Yeah, I'm already put Adelease on my bench. I'd be
surprised if he plays a full weekend. Good thing with Tucker.
They have the early game today and Wrigley, so we'll
have a good idea. If he's out on Friday, I'd
probably mention him, even though I feel like he's back
at least Saturday or Sunday. But still that's not going
to do you much. So most are like Tucker. If
he's out, you're good. I don't think atleast plays much
of the weekend.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
I think that's that's the right call, Van Rod. Who
would you rather pick up? No, Bill chris Maatt k
Cavali or Joey Cantillo. I kind of like Kate Cavali,
But Bubbo, what do.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
You think here?

Speaker 3 (20:03):
It's a good one because I get made fun of
on my show with Ryan that I like to Bill
chris Man in deeper formats. But Kate Cavali has a
two step coming up next week at Miami and Pittsburgh.
So go pick up cage FUIVALI please and roll with
that one.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
That is good information, that is U. I think I'm
gonna have to make that pick up myself in a
couple of cases. Would you start Pavetta tonight at Colorado?

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Absolutely for me. Pavetta has been great this season.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Or even think about it.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
I wouldn't think about it.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
I understand it.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Trust me. With Pavetta's history with the Homers in Colorado,
I get the question. But I'm starting him. He's been
brilliant this year.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Finally the year that I essentially kind of tap out
a little bit on Pavetta, this is the year it happens.
Of course, where do you guys think Carol will go
in drafts next year? I have him as a keeper
for round three, thinking I might go another direction round three.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Calm, thank you.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
He's a top five pick right now. I think I
would say, at best top ten, but I would not
be surprised if he's like the fourth or fifth pick
in some drafts. The way he's playing.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Yeah, he's the twenty seventh player as a whole for
the season. And I talked about this. I don't know
if it was on this show or if it was
on Sleeper in the Bus, but Corbyn Carroll's had his
best season of his career this year and it's kind
of fallen under the radar. One forty WRC plus is
the best he's had, five point seven war, twenty nine homers. Yeah,
he doesn't steal as much as he used to, but
it's gonna be another year of one hundred and fifteen runs.

(21:18):
He's gonna hit thirty homers, maybe get up to thirty steals.
If you get him in the third round, you should
be licking your chops because that is a phenomenal, phenomenal
third round keeper a hundred. Goodman dropped my head to
head league yesterday for whatever reason. Should I drop Jeremiah Jackson?
I think it depends on who you're trotting out to
catcher right now, personally, because I'd want to have Goodman
in the catcher slot. If you're putting him the outfield,
I guess it's fine. But but but what are your

(21:40):
thoughts on this one?

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Yeah, for Ketch, if you need a catcher, sure, if
you're just using him in the afflet, I'd actually keep
Jeremiah Jackson. Colorado's on the road next week. Jackson's been hot,
he's hitting second and as long as he's swinging it,
well you roll with it.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
It's the time of year where there's no more like well,
there's some time to turn it around, like it's whoever's
performing today and tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
So you've got to be focusing in on. Is CAGs
a drop?

Speaker 2 (22:01):
I don't see him having an impact considering he's sharing
time now, he's been back for three games, he's sat
for two of them. I don't love it, Babba. I
gotta be honest. I think in most of leagues people
can probably move on.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Yeah, I think he can. Like I was telling people
on our show is the Royals, he could have come
off the IL like a week or two ago and
they fled out and said we're not calling him up
until he has regular playing time. Well he got called
up after the roster's expanded, thus still in a regular
playing time. So I'm concerned.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Man.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
I thought CAGs would be would be Nick Kurtz, Like,
I thought it'd be the same thing, honestly, And for
next year, I really like buying into Caags.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
But for this season, for the rest of the way.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Like we just said, if you're not performing right now,
you're on the chopping block. Jason, I picked up Nick
Kurts on April second. On one side, I had seen
Jim Tomay coms those who look a pretty decent right
now a little too early, But I love what I've
seen with the ex with the exception of Kurtz and Vladi,
it seems like first base our power but low average guys.
Kurtz is currently hitting three to zero eight with a
ten thirty seven OPS. Can he maintain the on base

(22:55):
skills long term? I think there is a chance that
Nick Kurtz continues to grow, But there's also a chance
that Nick Kurtz never has another season quite to this level,
which I don't think anybody wants to hear. But he
has a one to seventy seven WRC plus with a
fourteen percent walk rate. There's a chance that this is
the peak. Now He's probably going to put together a very,
very very good career, but I don't know that we

(23:18):
can expect a four oh one on base rate from him.
I think he's probably more of a three fifty to
three seventy OBP guy going forward, who hits thirty homers,
But I don't know that this is going to be
replicated year in and year out from Nick Kurtz.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
But what do you think. I think the obp he's
got those skills pretty pretty solid. The badnverage what I'd
be concerned with. To your point, I think he's still
gonna be an absolute monster, but i'd be I'd be cautious.
This could be one of the best seasons we'll ever
see from Nick Kurtz. Unfortunately.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Yeah, people were saying with PCA after the first half,
like this might be the best first half of what
he ever has And there's a chance the same thing
with Nick Kurts, like a one to seventy seven WRC
plus the only player who has a better mark this
year is Aaron Judge. So just to put into context,
it's higher than Hey, It's higher than even my guy,
George Springer, Kyle Schuber, Rawley, all the rest of them.
It's very hard to replicate that kind of thing unless

(24:07):
you are a true generational stud And if he is
Jim Tomey, then maybe we do see that. But Jim
Tommey had six hundred homer so that's a high bar
for sure. Twelve, real real quick, real quick, Cubs lineup
came out. Kyle Tucker is not in it, so okay,
help you folks. So that makes your decision a lot easier.
I think Tucker is riding the pine for you this
weekend are certainly for tonight. In those daily leagues, twelve

(24:30):
team head to head points Von Kagliow or Ben Rice.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
This one is Ben Rice with a bullet for me.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Bubba, yeah, baby boy, Like he's got that short portune right,
he's swinging it. Well, you're going Ben Rice for sure.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Uncle Ben.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
He's been getting it done, especially in the second half
of the year. Let's talk about a couple of transactions.
Alexis Diaz was DFAD by the Dodgers. Now there's a
part of me that thinks, in drafts next season he'll
just be essentially free and you might end up getting
twenty saved somewhere next year if he signs on. I
also think, again, this might be slipping over the banana peel.

(25:01):
But any interest in Alexis Diaz is like a late
round flyer next year in DC's Bubba.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Yeah, you said the magic were there in DC's Maybe
I could see like rounds forty to fifty because like
some team might get desperate and it might not even
be a closing gig out the gate, but you know,
the White Sox sign him in second half of the season.
He says, ten, like there's a window for that. It's
a we're asking for a lot, but I could see
it as a as a flyer late for sure.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Big Dance followed up on that Yari question, ten keepers,
So I think you erry, yeah, to keep Gary unless
your team is just completely stacked.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
I think I think you got to be keeping YERI there.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
The other thing on the transaction list, Cal Quantrell released
by the Braves. A bit of a tough season for
Cala Quantrell. Do you think he catches on anywhere? Do
you think this could potentially maybe not the end of him,
but I mean it's been pretty rough six oh four
ERA five last year, five twenty four of the year before.
Does somebody take a chance on Cal?

Speaker 3 (25:57):
You think, oh, yeah, there's so many bad teams in
baseball and they want to expand two more teams. So
Cal Quantrill, we'll get a shot somewhere. He'll be invited
to spring training and who knows what actually comes of it,
but he will get a shot somewhere for sure.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
Yeah, you know, I'll always be partial to cal but
it's pretty rough. It's been pretty rough this year.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
There were some streaming opportunities earlier in the year, but
right now things are pretty dark. Rooky luckie time, Brandon
Sproute will be called up by the Mets and start
Sunday at Great American Ballpark.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
What's your interest level, Bobba. You've thrown him into the
fire right away.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
That's tough. I know people will He wasn't as good
as people think in the miners this year. Big time prospect,
no doubt about it, but skills were lacking a bit.
I'd actually probably sit this one out, but I'm always
really cautious with the young guns.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Yeah, you're right. Actually I hadn't dug into him so much.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
But for twenty four era okay, one twenty four web
eleven percent strikeout to walk. That's nothing to write home about.
It really isn't. Great American Ballpark is a little bit worrisome.
Now he doesn't give up a ton of homers, which
is a good thing going into Great American Ballpark, only
nine in one hundred and twenty one innings. But I
think If you're looking at McLean and Tong, they are

(27:08):
much better. Maybe not maybe not miles ahead, but there
there definitely better. If you're looking at sprote as, somebody
who's gonna do what they've done might be asking a
little bit too much. Let's get to the three up
and three down. Andrew Vaughn three for four yesterday. Nice
to see him bounce back after he'd been pretty cool
for the last couple of weeks. Chris Morel three for
four with two runs and a ribby, and Kyle Teal
plus's hard three for five triple shy of the cycle,

(27:30):
three runs, four ribbys, and a stolen base to top
it all off. I think Kyle Teal is gonna be
my catcher two on half of my team's probably next year.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Bubba. I've completely fallen in love with him and what
he's done so far this season.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
He won't rank terribly high on Player Raiders because he
hasn't played a ton only sixty games. He's hitting two
ninety three, six homers and three steals, and even in
a bad lineup, fifty seven runs and RBIs combined in
sixty games.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
I'm in love, Bubba.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
Yep, he's a stud I haven't as a catcher too
in a lot of leagues. Are a few leagues right
now he will be definitely, Dude, there's a window where
he could be a catcher one if you wait on
catching like he is that good. And this White Sox
team we make fun of them, but the second half,
as they've let these young kids develop offensively, they're much
better than they were in the first half of the season.
So if they keep doing this and you have tealing

(28:17):
company like, he could be in for a pretty nice season.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
I have him in a couple of leagues. The main
one that I really need him in is the Bubba
and the Bloom Auction Championship League, where I am in
second right now. First is becoming a little bit tough.
I got eleven points to catch up on so that
might be a little bit tough. But Kyle Tiel Plus
is hired doing everything you can to get me back
in that one. On the downs, Blake Snell shelled by

(28:40):
the Pirates five earn runs on nine hits and three walks,
Christian Javier just four and a third against the Yankees
four and runs on six hits and three walks. I
think Christian Xavier is somebody that I'm not really trusting
rest of season, Bubba. I don't know about rolling him
out in fantasy playoffs. Next start is at Toronto. I
think I don't think I can do it.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
He's a streamer at best in the right matchups. That's
kind of how weirdly enough, Christian Hobbyer has always been
like there's been like the high expectations for Hobbyer. He
had the three ninety ARA last year, but again thirty
four innings if almost a four to sixty IRA the
year before. He's always had a walk issue. That's been
his biggest problem. It's been a heavy, heavy dose of walks.
Like we're talking twelve point seven, nine nine, twelve point five.

(29:22):
So this is who he is. And that's just kind
of the roller coaster you will have when you pitch him.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Yeah, I don't think it's worth it. Just give in Toronto.
If it was Pittsburgh next or something, I'd maybe take
a chance.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
But Toronto.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Toronto's cooled off a little bit, but it's still a
matchup that's just still.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
Yeah, you still stay away from them, and then if
you just go even deeper down the rabbit hole, he's
got like Texas, which he might be interested in, and
then it looks like possibly at Sacramento, so maybe one
start using the rest of the year.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Yeah, no, thank you, no, thank you. Even in fifteens,
I don't think you can do it. Maybe maybe in fifteen's.
But the last of the downs, Daniel Sheman with a
golden sombrero yesterday. We always like the highlight, the gold
in sombreros. Haven't had a Sinko stinko. I don't even
know if Bubba was here for the Sinco Stinkos zero
for five with five strikeouts.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
I think we've had impressive six or seven of them
this year.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
I think Cherio did it on opening Day, and there
was a couple of others, but I few and far
between on the Sinco Stinkos.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Let's get to the injuries.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Pablo Lopez will make his return from the El tonight,
finally against the Royals. Bubba right in the fire for him.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Yeah, I think you do. This is an ace. You
go with it, but I'm always come off a shoulder
injury like that doesn't make count as you go three
in four innings, so limit your expectations.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Yeah, I haven't followed his rehab I'm not sure where
he's at in terms of the build up, but I
think that's that's pretty sound advice. If you are in
a daily league, you don't really have any reason to
set him unless you know it's had to had season,
it's had to have playoffs. If your ratios are looking
good you don't need a chance it, then maybe don't.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
But Pablo Lopez.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Five and five and two thirds in his last rehab start.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
That's encouraging. Okay, so maybe he gets the five if
things are clean here against Kansas City. Not a team
that scares me off a ton. This one does scare
me a ton. Though Roman Anthony expected the miss four
to six weeks with the oblique strain.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Is there any world where you're holding him and hoping
for a shorter time on here, Bubba?

Speaker 3 (31:09):
Not at all. Alex Cora flat out told him in
a quote that in vision leading off in Game one
of the Alcs, which is October twelfth, which is a
little over about five weeks away. So uh, the way
I look at it, it'd take an absolute miracle, and
miracles can happen. We did beat we did win in
Lake Placid, But I I don't think Roman Anthony is like,

(31:31):
they don't need to rush him back.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Get out.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Michael's on the call here to uh to get Roman
Anthony back. And you know, look, I think it's hilarious
that the Red Sox think are going to the Alcs.
That's adorable. But I'm not gonna I'm not gonna stoke
those fires today. Let's keep it going with Francisco Albert.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
You got what else?

Speaker 3 (31:47):
No, No, I was gonna just stoke your I was
gonna poke the but I'll stop.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Let's talk about something that's close to your heart. Bubba
a catcher. Francisco Alvarez will be activated from the eyel today.
This one's a bit of a shocker to me. Not
that he's back, but I expected he'd be back maybe
the last week or two of the year, which is
a pretty early.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
Timeline for him.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
It's insane. Dude's got like a ligament damage in his
thumb that's require offseason surgery. Then while rehabbing, gets hit
by a pitch, fractures a pinky and the dude has
like missed the limited amount of time for all of this,
all things considered, hit a grand slam in his last
rehab game. He's coming back on Friday, I've made a joke.
I'm like, you know, he's missing his thumb and his pinky.
Is he gonna be a bowler? Now?

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Like?

Speaker 3 (32:25):
What do we got going on here? Like he's he's
so it's a freak and catchers are freaks. This is
part of it. But wow, just impressive stuff from the kid.
I don't know how good he'll be, but that's nuts
from a data perspective. This year, I'll be it in
a shorter sample size than we would have hoped for.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
One twenty five WRC plus seven homers in fifty six games,
twelve percent barrel rate, fifty three hard hit rate.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Is he a top twelve catcher for you next year?
Is he a catcher one?

Speaker 3 (32:52):
I'm much much more intrigued. I've said it forever, like
the hype train was so big from Francisco Alvarez as
a prospect catcher. He never came close to living up
to it, and like even the underlying metrics didn't look good,
got demoted. This year, He's come back and things have
looked a lot better with him before he got hurt again.
I am much more interested in looking at Francisco Alvarez
this year for sure.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Okay, Bubba is the catcher guru.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
By the way, if you need catcher help, if Bubba
does the catcher write ups in the Black Book, like
Bubba is, Bubba is your guy for everything Fantasy Baseball,
but specifically for catchers.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Buba Catchers matter, Folks. Catchers matter.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Remember that catchers matter, and they matter more now than
they ever have before, considering there's like fifteen viable catchers.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
And you know, if you told me that ten years ago,
I would have thought I was having a dream.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Jas Chisholm had to lead early on Thursday do to
a contusion in both knees. I actually did to see
what happened here, but both nees. That's not great weekend lineups.
I guess it's a comes down to whether or not
he plays Friday for you. A.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
Yeah, no, he's got the greg odum disease going on
here both knees. But he they said they pulled him early.
He was working on them early. He expects to be
back on Friday. We'll see how that plays out. I
think he plays at least Saturday on Sunday, and the
way he's swinging it, you might want to still put
him in your lineups.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Yeah, you probably do. We talked to him the other day.
It's like twenty eight homers, twenty some odds steals. It's
been a very good season for him. Max Munsey I
had to specify. Dodgers Max Munsey began a rehab assignment
and could return to the team next week.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Is he worth a couple bucks in fab this weekend?
Bubba as a stash?

Speaker 3 (34:20):
Yeah, you know, Battie and iverage is always questionable. But
since he got the bifocals, he's swinging it well. The
power's been there. Dodgers need every boost they can get
right now because he's got swept when we were beat
that swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates. So yeah, Munsey is
worth a fantasy target.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
I think he is too when he's been out there
this year. It's been few and far between the games,
but he's been very good. More good news for the Dodgers,
not really good news. I'm saying that sarcastically, Will Smith
will likely be out until next week due to a
hand contusion. So if you do have Will Smith, you're
gonna need a look at a short term replacement. Maybe
in a shallow league, you have Kyle Teele sitting on
the waiver wire. Trevor McGill had a successful bullpen session

(34:59):
and is expected to be I committed from the IL
on September sixteenth, So if you saw McGill was dropped anywhere,
probably worth throwing a couple of dollars at him. I
think in deeper leagues for people probably held on. But
I think if you're in a ten or twelve team
league and you really need saves, there's a chance he
might be out there, So take a look at your
waiver wire. Seth Lugo placed on the fifteen day IL

(35:19):
with a lower back sprain. He hadn't been that great
really either, So I think while we're saying goodbye to
Seth Lugo for the year and dropping him, MAYBEBBA.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Yeah, no, he's done. I don't see why they'd bring
him back if for no, there's no reason to bring
him back.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Yeah, I mean, at his age, considering the team's not
playing for anything.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
I think it's extended him for two years. They need
him for next year.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
Like yeah, I think part of them probably wishes they
hadn't extended him after seeing what he's done over the
last couple months.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
But this conversation for another day.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Spencer Raghetty dealing with elbow inflammation and is very unlikely
to return this season. This guy just can't stay healthy.
I don't know what to do with him really. Heading
into next year, he'll be I don't know that that
health really has starting to worry me. With Spencer Araghetty.
Christian Yelich missed both I'm saying in Thursday's games due
to back soreness, but was expected to return on Friday.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
This is the risk with Yellis is always the risk
with him is that his back is awful.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
It's like, if you look at the injury report for
his career, it's like ten different back injuries.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
Will that keep you off of him at all in
twenty twenty six, Not at all.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
He's been doing this forever. This is like the reports
came out and they are actually kind of true reports.
If it is just minor back pain, this is normally.
Dude had back surgery last year. He hasn't missed any
time with it, like, so they decided he's been kind
of banged up for a couple of weeks, it's give
him a couple of days of the rest. The Brewers
are on a playoff push, of course. I'm not. Like
We've dealt with this for years of Yelich and he

(36:37):
still puts up like twenty twenty type seasons.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
Some fine, it's true. You know, some of the stuff
with the games played I think is a little bit
overplayed with him. But back in the discount, yeah, I
think it depends on what the discount is. Like he's
a top five or seven outfielder this year, If he's
a top fifty pick, what would be the top out
range for you?

Speaker 1 (36:57):
If he's a top three rounder, top four rounder.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
I know he's gotta be deeper. And now, like I'm
talking like six seven round and that's he went. He
went pretty late in the meatball and then I was mad.
I thought about taking him like three rounds and I
didn't do it, and someone finally got him. I got's
probably a gift right there.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
Yeah he went mid seventh. Yeah, he went after lou Bob,
after Harris, after Bellinger.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
I take him over Harris, but I have a thing
against Harris, So it's okay.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
Yeah, you should meet Joei's apia. You guys might get along.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
Maybe. Well we're both bald and beautiful, so it works.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Well, that is beautiful.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Let's talk what else we got here. On the injuries,
Jordan Hicks will go on the aisle with a right
shoulder injury. This is really just because he stinks. He's
been awful. One of the centerpieces of the Raffael Devers trade.
Well done in Boston. Mackenzie Gore expects to return from
the aisle when he's first eligible on September twelfth. Things
have been pretty rough for McKenzie gore. If he's out there,
or even if you have him, let's say, in like

(37:49):
a draft and hold format or whatever, are you throwing
him back into the fire there when he's first eligible, Bubba.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
I'm probably not like I love McKenzie Gore. I don't
know what you didn't expect from McKenzie gore right now
is potentially his first start back would be against the
Braves and at home and then at Atlanta. So his
last two starts potentially are against the Braves. I'd probably
say thanks for what you did, not happy with how
you finished. We'll see you next year.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Yeah, if he got activated hypothetically for the Pirates series,
be different, yes, September twelve, thirteen and fourteen, then I
could have a conversation. But if it's Atlanta, if it's Chicago,
even if it's Miami, I think, like you said, you
tip your cap, thank you for the first half, and
we pretty much move on for Mackenzie Gore. But that

(38:37):
will take us into our best Bets of the Day segment. Bubba,
We'll start with you today. I usually go first, but
what do you have for the people to wrap them
up this week?

Speaker 3 (38:46):
Alrighty, we are going with the red hot Philadelphia Phillies offense.
Trey Turner leading things off these days and gets over
three hits runs RBIs at plus one point twenty seems
like quite the nice set up there for mister Trey Turner.
I think the Phillies just have a monster game period.
I didn't want to take, you know, Schwarber and company,
but you get Belazo of Miami pitching take advantage of that.

(39:11):
I'm gonna take Joe Adell at plus one thirty five
for over three hits runs RBIs. He's been nuclear hot
right now, and he gets Barnett of the A's to
make his I believe third start for the team, So
we can go that direction. And then I was shocked
to see over two hits runs and RBI's for Drew Gilbert,
the man, the myth, the legend, who's been absolutely outstanding.

(39:32):
He's on fire and the play given course field, but
he gets Michael McGreevey, who gives up a ton of contact.
So with Gilbert speed and stuff, I think he could
run into a I think he gets to over two
pretty easily. That's my favorite of the three bets, but
that means so probably fade. But I'll be taking those.
Plus one twenty plus one thirty five and plus one thirty.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
Five plus one thirty five is pretty pretty sweet stuff.
So I'll be transparent here. I've been lighting money on
fire for the last week or so, so I am
going with some recommendations from the prop bet cheat cheat,
which you guy should be checking out. Logan Gilbert under
seventeen and a half outs. He's facing Atlanta. He hasn't
been quite Logan Gilbert in the second half of the season.

(40:11):
He's still striking out a lot of guys, but those
ratios have not been great. You can get to him,
so under seventeen and a half outs at minus one fifteen,
like in that one Michael Busch over one and a
half total bases. I don't know if we've talked enough
about what Michael Bush has done this year. He's been very,
very good. But he gets Jake Irvin tonight and you're
getting minus one oh six four over one and a
half total bases. And then this one surprised me, the

(40:32):
line being where it was Ronald Lecunya over one and
a half total bases. I got it at plus one
thirty three. At first, I was like, this has got
to be a mistake, like the book's making a mistake
or something. But he's hitting like a buck eighty eight
over the last month and he is facing Logan Gilbert,
so I understand it. But this one does really stand
out if you're using the tools over at Betting Pros,
so make sure you are checking out the prop bet

(40:52):
cheat cheet. It does really help you out if you're
in a bit of a funk, when you've missed out
on a few days with the picks in a row,
you don't trust yourself us with a prop bet cheat
sheet really is a great service and a great tool.
We have vettingpros dot com slash MLB props. As Joey
p would say, don't be a tool, use the tools.
Do we have an updated home run board? We do,

(41:14):
and Bees has pulled a head here at fifty six,
Positive Grouch at fifty five, Whips at fifty five, and
George at fifty four with the fisher King also at
fifty four. This one is going to come down to
the wire. I love this kind of stuff. This is
like crack for me. I love following this type of thing.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
Babba, where are you going for your home run call tonight,
my friend.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
I'm going to take the cupcake approach potentially of going
to Coors Field. There's a petulant child taking the mound
because he didn't throw that long in his first start
earlier this week, so he gets to come back pretty
quickly because he threw a fit and hopefully he doesn't
throw in here. And Manny Machatto takes indeed, because Manny
Machado is known to look at his home runs too,
so I'm hoping we see that I got Manny Machado

(41:55):
taking Kyle Freeland deep. You could pick a lot of
players from that game if you'd like, because I think
San Diego takes to task. Put nice topa say it.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
I'm liking it, and I'm loving the Kyle Freeland beef,
I am absolutely absolutely here for it. I'm going Pi Alonzo.
He's at Great American Ballpark. He have for taking cours
in Great American Park tonight, Andrew Abbott lefty versus righty.
Pete Alonzo has been beating up as of late. Hit
a couple of home runs earlier this week, so I'm
definitely liking him tonight. Let's take a couple of quick

(42:26):
questions before he send you on your way. Will Vest,
Jose Ferrera or Joe Joe Romero baba?

Speaker 3 (42:32):
If if I know Kyle Fittinggans actually hurt, it's Will Vest. Otherwise,
go get yourself from Ferrera. Who's been really really good?

Speaker 2 (42:39):
Okay, Haralda. Perdomo grab him off waivers in April. He's
been an un heralded stud completely agree he's been amazing.
So even if this is the best year of his career,
what do you expect I've been average year for Perdomo
going forward. I think that he can be like a
low end shortstop one going forward, like you know, tenth, eleventh, twelve,
maybe thirteenth in shortstop rankings, a solid overall ballplayer. But

(43:00):
I think I agree that this is probably a peak
year for him, where everything's gone right. He's walked more
than he's struck out. He's hitting for power, he's stealing
a lot. Everything is a career high. What do you
think next year, Bubba, I see a fade or a
target for you.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
I still target him if the helium doesn't go too big.
I think he's like a two to seventy five guy.
We'll see it the power and speed sticks. It's only
twenty five, so this could be a new lease on
life for predomance, could be who he's turning into. So
I'd like to kind of still stay on that trade
until proven otherwise.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
Yeah, and he's still very young, Hurlba Perdomo. He's twenty
five years old. They gave him that contract which was
four years, forty five million, so they believe in him,
and I think there's.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
A decent enough reason for us to believe in him
as well. Big Dance. This is a fallo up to
the Yary question. Again.

Speaker 2 (43:42):
These are the ten keepers Jazz Seeger Bregman, Judge, Cheerio Wood, Schwarmer,
j Rod O'Neill, Cruz and Hunter Brown. Maybe it will
be tough to keep yery. This is a pretty stacked group.
If you're taking Yuri, who would you take him?

Speaker 3 (43:54):
Over?

Speaker 1 (43:54):
Here?

Speaker 3 (43:54):
Bubba Corey Sieger?

Speaker 1 (43:57):
Really? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (43:58):
Okay, old and always hurt go get another short step.

Speaker 2 (44:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (44:02):
I think that's fair considering how deep Shortstop is keeping
see her. Yeah, I get it.

Speaker 3 (44:07):
He's only keeping one picture and he needs to keep
another picture most likely.

Speaker 2 (44:12):
Yeah, I think I think you're I think you're on
something there. Bubba is Camerican firm done for the season.
I haven't seen any confirmation, but like we mentioned the
other day, from a fantasy point of view, you can
consider him dead on arrival. I think at this point, Yep,
which catcher are you drafting next year? Bubba, Augustine Ramirez
or Drake Baldwin.

Speaker 3 (44:30):
This is man.

Speaker 1 (44:31):
It's like tofi's choice right here.

Speaker 3 (44:33):
The Goose, Augustine Ramirez. Drake's been great. Not gonna knock
that at all, but I'm a Goose fan, so give
me Augustine Romirez.

Speaker 1 (44:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (44:41):
I don't have any problem there. I haven't really started
to dig in, but I'll probably have teams with both
of them. I really love this catcher classic come up
this year. Brandon spro Worth a pickup. We talked about him, earlier.
Maybe worth a pickup, but probably not worth a start
in that first game against Cincinnati at Great American and
then wrapping up with Van Rod utility spot Polonko, Larnick
or Montgomery probably calls them Montgomery right now.

Speaker 3 (45:02):
Yes, he's only hitting like two thirty, but those seventeen
bombs is only Kyle Schwarber has more since the All
Star break.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
Yeah, him and varshow are doing this thing where they're
having like a two to seventy on base percentage and
yet every get bat it seems like they're hitting an
extra base hit, usually a home run. So fun stuff there,
Fun stuff as always here with my good friend Casey
Bubba as we wrap up the week.

Speaker 1 (45:22):
It's great getting to do the show with you.

Speaker 3 (45:24):
Man.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
We did this last year, we're doing it this year.
Hopefully we get to do it again next year. So
I know we haven't done this in a while. Just
let everybody know what you got going on. Where you
keep up with your work. If they're looking for some
weekend pods after they finished listening to this, where can
they keep up the Bubba content?

Speaker 3 (45:36):
Appreciate it. I'm over on X. I guess at bad
and Trick, but it's the Bubba in the Bloom pod.
We have our Patreon Patriot. I'll comeback slash Bubba Bloom,
but record twice a week. It's like a blue board
type episode on Tuesday, Wednesday, and then like last night,
Thursday night. We always record the FAB previews here week
twenty five FAB Previews out and about right now, so
check that out. And there's written content all over the

(45:57):
place with follow Twitter and most importantly bubb and the
Bloom and I also have benched with Bubba. But yeah,
Buba and Bloom, go check it out. And the Bloom
part be gentle. He's a nice guy, but he's shy.
He'll be the on Monday. He's a really nice guy,
but he puts up with me multiple times a week.
So like this, this is gonna be cupcake. Joe's good
to be like a godsend to him.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
I appreciate it, my friend.

Speaker 2 (46:19):
But seriously, though, I know there's a lot of ass
kissing in the industry, but when I talked about Bubba,
it's legit. He's one of the best there is. I
subscribe to the Patreon. I used to listen to the
podcast live when I was in college. Now that I'm
working all day. I got to catch up on the
audio feed the next day. I can't be staying up
as late as I was.

Speaker 1 (46:35):
But listen to those.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
Podcasts, whether it's on YouTube or whether it's in the
podcast feeds, You've be doing yourself a service listening to
Ryan and Bubba. And Ryan will be here on Monday
sitting in as the co host. That one will be
a lot of fun. Throw him into the fire with
the whole leading off format. I'm not sure if he's
a big betting guy, but we'll see if we can
get a couple of bets that a Ryan, maybe a
home run call or two and run through the weekend update.

(46:56):
But that will do it for us guys, For Joe
Rico and Casey Bubba, we we'll see you again next

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
