Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hello everybody, Welcome back into another episode of the cycle.
I am your host, Mike Maher. I am joined once
again by Kelly Kirby and Kelly. Football has begun, but
we are still here talking about baseball. We are still here.
And so it's a pretty crazy time of the year
when the two sports overlap for those of us who

(00:26):
work in the industry. But that's okay. No one will
feel about feel bad for us about that, so we
will not feel bad for ourselves. And we are here
to bring it home, to bring fantasy championships to the people,
help you out, to close strong in your rental leagues,
and to not get eliminated in the playoffs, and your
head to add leagues. And so with that intro, I

(00:46):
ask you how you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I'm doing pretty well. No one has spit on me.
I haven't spit on anyone, so I feel like, you know,
I'm doing better than some people. But I'm also didn't
even talk about that. This was like, I'm so tired
of hearing about it.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Okay, has anyone spit at you?

Speaker 2 (01:03):
No one has not at me. In the last you know,
a little bit that's important ten to fifteen years somewhere
important detail. Yeah, but no, I'm super excited to be
here talking about baseball just because you know, it's a
nice change of pace.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
So I have been spit on somewhat recently, but I
have very young children. Yeah, oh, that's why you have
kids young. For those who have no idea what we're
talking about, that's a jail and Carter Dak Prescott reference,
which is again football. Well, we're here to talk about baseball,
and so let's dive right in. I wanted to talk
about a few different things, but as we've talked about

(01:40):
in recent weeks, I want to kind of narrow the
focus a little bit, and so we're not really talking
about macro fantas at baseball anymore. We are talking about
micro lineup decisions, taking it week to week because a
lot of you are in weekly leagues, daily leagues, and
whether it's roto or head to head, you have lineup
decisions to make. And now that we're getting down close
to the end, a lot of these decisions will make

(02:01):
or break what happens. And so even though we're not
going to talk about spitting anymore, we will talk about
someone who might be a jerk, which is something that
jerks too and so I ask you, is franburvald as
a jerk and to bring it in and kind of
explain why I'm asking that. By this point many of
you have seen the maybe you haven't, because it was

(02:21):
like a, I feel like it was a decent size story,
but it was not as big as I expected it
to be. I feel like those of us who work
in the space and or like really like dialed into
fantasy baseball were like, whoa that was? You know, that
was wild, but I don't think it really made a
huge splash like nationally. So maybe you don't know what happened.

(02:42):
But the spark Notes version, a cliff Notes version of
what happened is there was a weird sequence when in
favor of Valdes his recent start where he was almost
about to start his wind up and it seemed like,
you know, he and the ketcher were not on the
same page, and the catcher kind of waved him off,
like get you know, step off the mound, you know,

(03:03):
let's reset here. Franbravaldez ignored him and proceeded to go
into his wind up and throw a pitch that was
immediately hit for a home run. And so in that case,
it seemed like the catcher was correct. Maybe we should
have not thrown that pitch, But for some reason, Valdez
was mad at his catcher and so in the following

(03:23):
it bat he it looked like it, you know, the
catcher had called for a breaking pitch and he just
like threw a fastball that crossed up the ketcher and
like basically hit him directly, which you know, in the
PitchCom era, it's kind of hard for that to happen.
Like you know, in the past, it's like, you know,
you put down one for a fastball, two for you know,
a breaking pitch, and you know, maybe you know, you

(03:44):
get confused, but like now, when like the pitch is
being told to you in your ear, it's kind of
hard to get that wrong. And so it seemed pretty
obviously he did that intentionally because he was mad, which
I'm not really sure why he would be. But what's
your take on that, is Franber Valdez jerk? Is this
a big deal or were you just making too much
of it? Like, what's what's your take there?

Speaker 2 (04:04):
I mean, last week we talked about whether or not
we wanted him on our team, Like are we trusting
him anymore, and and I'm like to follow that up
immediately with something like this. I was like, no, no,
I'm we're we officially cannot trust him anymore at this point.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
It both as a person and a player.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Well yeah, I mean in the body language of the
catcher and him was awful. Like anyone who watched the video,
he absolutely intentionally threw the wrong pitch and then he,
like the catcher just kind of looked at him like
what are you doing? And Frans just like angry and
like stomping around a little bit, and I was just

(04:43):
kind of going, what is happening? And that's that start
was terrible. He struck out eight guys, but he gave
up six n runs and two home runs, including the
Grand Slam because he was pouting or whatever he did.
So no, I don't want anything to do with him
if I'm in the championship at this point.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Yeah, And that's the other that's the other reason I
wanted to kind of bring it up, because not only
is this a big story, but also he we talked
about like you said, we talked about him last week.
He's a big name, you know. It's it's it's kind
of hard to drop him in fantasy, but you know,
now that we're this late in the season, like you
probably have to or you should consider it. In he
has a in the second half. He has a five
inn e RA over five in v Granted it's only

(05:23):
one start, but you know, in one start in September
ten point eight ERA, you know, based on just the
one bad start, but also through August five point six
four ERA. So he's just like not been good for
a pretty lengthy stretch now after having a really good
first half two point seventy five RA in the first half,
but it just seems like the wheels have come off

(05:45):
a bit, and you know, it's it's one of those
things wherever we're having this conversation in May, No, you
don't drop Vamber about this, but like we're into September now,
and like you said, if you're in a head to head,
you know, if you're in a head to head playoff matchup,
you you can't trust him in your lineup. It's one
thing if it's in rodo and maybe you can bench
him for a week and see if you think gets
turned around, or if you know, if you have a

(06:06):
deep enough rosters, maybe you just you know, the volume
is okay, and you take the chance he's pissing pitching,
not that pitching this week against the Braves, only one start.
That's why I made the literative literative mistake there. I
was gonna say he's not a two star pitcher, he's

(06:27):
only one star pitcher. Against the Braves. It was like,
not the best offense, but not the worst offense at
this point. But also it might not matter with Ramberveldez.
So yeah, I agree, I don't think it head to head.
I'm definitely not starting him because he could just cost
you your matchup in Rodo. I'm probably benching him if
I can. But also, you know, if I you know,

(06:47):
we've talked in recent weeks, but all these really good
young pitchers, most of them are probably not on waivers anymore.
But in an upcoming segment, we're going to talk about
a bunch of two star pitchers, and I think there
are a lot of them that are interesting enough candidates
that if you know, it really came down to a
roster corunch and it's like, do I want to drop
Framberbaldez for somebody's names. I think the answer is probably yes. Yeah.

(07:09):
So before we get to that segment, I want to
hit on a bunch of injuries because there were a
lot of them. There's a bunch of people going down,
a bunch of people coming back. And this is also
kind of that weird part of the season where it
can be frustrating a fantasy because we're getting towards the
end of the season. Teams that are not contending are
more inclined to kind of shut their players down. If
it's a pitcher, maybe they start dialing back the innings,

(07:32):
if it's a position player who's banged up or you know,
just had a long season, that they can consider shutting
them down or you know, resting them more often. And
so it starts to get really frustrating. But they're also
legitimate injuries. And the biggest one in the last you know,
week or so is Roman Anthony who has an oblique injury,
which is, you know, one of the worst injuries you

(07:53):
can have as a hitter because it's like it takes
a while to recover. It's also kind of hard to
know when you're recovered. It's kind of like a hamstring
injury for you know, for base stealers, it's kind of
like you feel like maybe you're back and then you
swing aback and you're like, Nope, still very hurt. Can't
can't do it. And it's probably like a month at least.
And that one's a real dagger because he was really

(08:16):
doing well, looking like the top prospect of baseball. And
I don't know how much it's going to affect the
other hitters in that lineup, but I feel like the
it like a little bit. It's like at least a
little bit because he kind of like not to spend
the whole time talking about like Roman Anthony, but he
kind of like completely revamped that lineup because once he
came up started hitting well, they moved him into light

(08:36):
up up to lead off. They moved Jaron Durant to third,
and it kind of like everything clicked and it seemed
like he was like the perfect fit is the lead off.
And so now like I don't know, if Duran goes
back to leading off, I should probably look because they
have played since he got hurt.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Yeah, but Rester resource has him leading off again.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, which is like it's ideal for him and that
he can fly. But also it didn't seem like leading
off was like the best fit for him and he
he really heated up batting third, and so it's one
of those things where it's a bummer if you have
romananthe but it's also like someone concerning if you have
Darren Durant, if you have Alex pregnant, if you have
Trevor Story because he and he affected that whole lineup,

(09:19):
So that one's a bummer, especially because you know such
a young hitter who looked really good. That's that one stings.
Kyle Tucker is day to day with calf tightness. It
seems like he's going to avoid the il. He's not
We're recording Friday this week. He is not in the
lineup on Friday, but it sounds like it might not
be a long term issue. He could be back soon.
Mike Trout, just to add to his lengthy list of elopments,

(09:39):
had a skin infection and missed some time, but he
is back in the lineup, so he is okay for now.
Michael King could be activated this week, but he is.
He has another SIM game coming up, and it seems
like he's gonna throw another SIM game and not going
to rehab assignment. But in his most recent SIM game,
he only threw forty four pitches. And so we don't
know what the what the workload is going to look

(10:01):
like when he's back. Kyle Stowers, kind of a surprising
superstar this year, is starting a rehabit time and he
could be back in your line up soon. This is
kind of an interesting one as of last night. Jazz
Chisholm injured both of his knees in the field and
but they're optimistic about it, which you know, they injured
both knees. He went for testing and they say they're optimistic,
but I don't know. I feel like if you injured

(10:23):
both knees, I'm a little concerned. Max Munsey the Dodgers.
Max months he's beginning a rehabit time and he could
be back soon. New Eyes and all Spencer Arraghetti likely
done for the regular season. Seth Lugo to the IL
Cole Reagan's is tossing batting practice, but also it feels
like the calendar is starting to work against Cole Reagan's,
Like is he going to make it all the way back?

(10:45):
That remains to be seen. He could be in one
of those categories where it's like he works his way
all the way back, but you know, it depends on
where the Royals are in the standings whether or not
they unleash him. Anthony Santander, who's been missing all season,
has a rehabit sign on tap, So he's potential intriguing
name if he's available in your league or if you've
been stashing him in the entire season. And then Esta Parades,

(11:08):
who has been out with a hamstring injury, did some
field work recently. It doesn't sound like a return is imminent,
but he is at least showing signs of doing things
on a baseball field. And so I talked for a
very long time there. I did not let you chime in,
but we can just start the top. Is there anyone
who obviously Roman Anthony already spent a bunch of time

(11:29):
on like he's that one's a bummer. It seems pretty clear.
Not a whole lot of takeaways there, Like you're not
going to replace Roman Anthony in your lineup, but any
of these other ones, like Michael King, for example. What's
your level of confidence with Michael King coming back given
the strange season he's had.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Yeah, I mean I really I drafted him everywhere. I
kept him in a couple of leagues. I was really
high on him. Before the season started, and I still
kind of am. But my concern there is and this
is where it kind of becomes a you have to
find the sweet spot of teams that are either like
just kind of good enough to keep playing, but not

(12:06):
like absolutely locked into a playoff spot, which kind of
takes out everyone in that nationally because I mean, the
Giants are making a little bit of noise, but otherwise
those six teams are set. So I don't think the
Padres are gonna let him do a ton. I think
they'll bring him back up, but in terms of fantasy,
I don't. I don't think they're gonna risk him because
they're they're in. Although you know, as long as they

(12:28):
stay with the Dodgers, that two of those two teams
fight over who wants it less are you know, I
think he could be useful, So I'm okay with him.
I smile at Mike Trout just because I mean, I
just I don't even know what to do with him.
Just it's like the weirdest collection of injuries that just
pop up, and and I feel bad for the guy

(12:50):
because I'm just like, really seriously a skin infection now,
But as long as he's in the lineup. I'm fine
playing him. I don't want anything to do with two
bad knees, but Stours is good. I'll keep him, Muncie,
I'm good with him. I agree with you entirely in
Reagan's I don't think that. I don't. I don't think
they're going to rush him back at all. And I

(13:10):
feel like we're kind of past that point where he
needs to come back, unless the Royals make a run
here and then Santander, you know, I wrote all all preseason,
over and over and over again that like, a guy
signs a contract like that and you should not like
just leave him off your team. And then I kept
him an hour Roatal League because I had no one

(13:30):
but and then he'sa ot on my eye all year.
So I don't want anything to do with him either.
Coming back. I think he might be a good boost
for the Blue Jays as a real life player, but
fantasy I'm not willing to kind of ride that out.
So so it's kind of it's a kind of a
sad list. The run a lot of people that I'm like,
make sure you have them.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
So yeah, yeah, I don't have any shares of Santander
this year. Kind of for the reason the reasons that
you man for me, he keeps coming off a great year,
a sign a big contract, but the price tag was
a little too high. You know. I always talk in
the off season or coming in season about like drafting
someone out their ceiling, which I try to avoid. It
seems like he was being drafted at a ceiling and

(14:13):
then lo and behold, we got his floor because he
missed the whole season. And so not that you ever
want to victory lap an injury or anything, but I
do feel very fortunate that I don't have any Santanta
or shares, but I do agree missing the whole season,
not having spring you know, like a full spring training
traditional ramp up, like starting in April. We've seen that
do weird things the hitters who are coming back. So

(14:34):
who knows what he looks like when he does come back,
but I do think he's gonna he'll help the Blue Jays,
but he'll be a question mark for a fantasy And
then Predes is the interesting one. Ideally he comes back
sooner rather than later. But just the fact that he
plays third base. We've talked all season about what their
base looks like. So yes, Pardes is out there and
has a pulse, like he said last week, like maybe

(14:54):
I don't have to start Ryan McMahon anymore, although he's
heating up. Yeah, now I wanted to move over. And
since we're, like I said, narrowing the focus and we're
talking about weekly lineup decisions, I wanted to talk about
lineup streamers and some start sick questions. And these are
players who are like should be available in a bunch

(15:17):
of leagues or have been picked up in the recent
future and are doing some things, but it's just, you know,
can you trust him? And I had to head I
had to head matchup or you know, in a Rodo
lineup this week, probably the most interesting one that I
put at the top here is CALLSA Montgomery because he's
got a really weird profile, but he also has seven

(15:37):
home runs in the last two weeks. But he also
feels it feels like the kind of guy who like
who could just next week hit one fifty for your
team and just bomb some of your some of your categories.
He has six games this upcoming week, which is important
to pay attention to, and had to head six games
against Tampa and Cleveland, And if I look at the
pitchers he's projected to face. If I filibuster here for

(16:01):
a second, it's not like the biggest names. It's Howser,
Pepio Seymour who we love TBD against the Guardians and
then Messic and CHICONI. So it's not a terrible a
terrible uh rotation he's going up against. In terms of

(16:22):
the Fantasy Cypros Hitcher hitter matchup braidings, that's not a
word hitcher. I guess maybe it is.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
That right, he's a hitcher.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Yeah, yeah, that's true. But I was looking at the
Fantasypros hitter matchup bratings and they kind of rank it
by team for the upcoming week of who they're facing.
Like in terms of pitching, the White Sox are fifteen,
so right in the middle. So what do you think
about couldt On Montgomery as someone like starter? Like are

(16:53):
you starting them six games not terrible pitching staff or
are you too afraid of the bottom falling out in
something like let's assume it's head to head.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Yeah, I mean I I'm starting him. I think less
like unless he was like scheduled to just face nothing
but left handers, I'm willing to give that a shot
for him because his power is just very it's very real.
And mostly the other thing is it's like, who am
I starting in place of him? And what kind of
power potential is there? So yeah, he could bat one fifty,

(17:26):
but he could also hit three home runs well batting
one fifty, and so it's like you're just kind of rolling,
you're rolling that dice. He's not gonna stay. He's not
gonna stay as hot as he is right now. But
I really don't have a much problem rolling him out
again just because of if you look at all the
other injuries and what does my team look like. Yeah,
give me the guy who has seven home runs in
the last two weeks, I'll take it.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Yeah, that is a good point because he is, like
I said, six games, he's facing two lefties, So two
of his six games are against lefties. And not a
large sample size this, but in forty nine of bats,
batting one to eighty four against lefties with three home
runs but against right easy, you only need in two
forty two, which is much better but not great. It's

(18:09):
not you know, it's much better than one eighty four,
but you have to hope that maybe those lefties don't
stay in the game long enough. Yeah for me. Obviously,
it depends on the league and how deep it is,
but chances are if you were starting him recently, you
probably need to continue starting him because you probably don't
have anyone much better. What about Ramone Loreano, who in

(18:32):
terms of our projections coming up VBR you know, we
we you know, we track the statistical value of players
in Fantasy, but then we also project the future, you know,
value based on projections, and so for the upcoming week,
he's fourth among hitters, is Ramone Loreano, and he has
a full seven games slate, which is good against the

(18:53):
Reds and the Rockies. So Ramone Loreano, are you starting
him or sitting him?

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Do you know without looking what you might be looking
right at his page? How many home runs he has
this year?

Speaker 1 (19:05):
I don't, I'm not. I don't have his page up.
I have the Fantasy Bros. Hitter matchup ratings page up,
but I can pull it up.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Oh no, no, I've got to tell you I've got it.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
You got it.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Yeah, No, He's hit twenty two home runs this year
and his slash line is absurd, like he's at two
ninety ninety three sixty one five forty three. So yeah,
I'm starting him. I don't there's nothing about that that
concerns me. And I'm not even really all that surprise
that his VBR is that high. When he gets to
go to Colorado, right, does he go there or he hosts?

(19:37):
Either way he gets Colorado pitching for three games. So yeah, no,
Loreano is on my team. I'm starting him, that's not
that's not a question.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah. And the other good thing talking about the all
seven games are at home, not that you know they
have a great home ballpark for hitters, but all seven
games are at home, and in terms of the matchup ratings,
number one, the best matchups for hitters next week are
players on the padres. So yeah, I think I'm more

(20:06):
confident in starting him than Calsa Montgomery. Yeah, I think
I think I'm starting him. What about Austin Hayes, who's
had kind of a I guess roller coaster season is
what you would call it. He was had He's always
had trouble staying on the field, but this season he
was really hot. When he was on the field, he
kept missing time. He's been cold recently, but very recently.

(20:28):
He has two home runs in his last four games,
and this week he has six games at at San
Diego and at the Athletics who play in Sacramento. But
they don't like to say that. They just like to
say Athletics. They don't want to give Sacramento any any
credit despite graciously hosting them. They I don't know, I
don't know why you do that. Maybe they're jerks too,

(20:48):
like Ramber Beeldez. But what about Austin Hayes. His his
VBR projected VBR forty six. Yeah, so top fifty, but
not fourth like Ramon Mareano.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
If it's a if it's weekly league, I'm not starting him.
If it is a daily league, I'm going I'll start
him in Sacramento. So that's that's why I'm looking at it.
I feel like it's just even coming right off of
what we just said about Loreno. I'm like, San Diego
is not exactly the best ballpark for hitting, and the

(21:18):
Padres pitching is decent or better than decent. But I'll
throw pretty much anyone if they're going to spend time
at the Athletics field. So yeah, I if you can
split it, i'd start in the second half. If you can't,
i'd bench him.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Yeah, he kind of feels like that. Like I've had
like the Taylor Ward problem this year where I don't
know how many home runs he has, it's like thirty,
but I think twenty four of them have been on
my bench just because he's been like so cold, and
I'm like, oh, I gotta sit this guy for a week.
And then he hits six on rounds in my card,
I'll put him back on my lineup. Then he hits zero,
and so I've been doing that all year and just
like if I just left him in my lineup, that

(21:55):
would be okay, but you know, it was so bad
for a while that I had to bench him and
then he goes hot and then he goes cold.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
We should kind of, Oh sorry, I was just gonna say,
we should really have like the Tailor Ward All Stars,
like in the in preseason next year, just be like, Okay,
here are the guys that, yeah, you can ruster them,
but good luck, Like, because yeah, I agree with you,
I think that I think Hayes isn't that same bunch.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
I've been thinking about that a lot recently, with like
kind of like a consistency rating, because there are also
players like Julio Rodriguez who was like borderline unstartable in
the first half, but then is an all star in
the second half, and it's like, yeah, at the end
of the season, the numbers look great, but you buried
me for three months, and so now your second half
like it's too late, you know in Rodo or you

(22:41):
know in head to Dead if you know, I lost
all my previous matchups, and so it's kind of one
of those things where it's like, yeah, at the end
of the season, you got all those stats and it
looks great, but if it's if it's not consistent like
it can kind of it's like not the same production
like it is, but it isn't right. But the fact
that he's heated up with two home runs recently makes
me more excited the pitch he's facing. He's there. The

(23:02):
Reds matchup rating is eighteenth, so not terrible, but bottom half.
And it's you Darvish, Nest Cortez, Nick Pavetta, and then
J T. Gin, Luis Saverino and Morales the you know,
one of those young pictures we like, so decent crop
of pictures, you know, some some you know, Cortez is
a good matchup for him. Gin and Saverinore not terrible matchups,

(23:23):
but like Darvas is you know darbish. You know he
can do things, but he's he can also be you darbish.
That has been really good. Morales has been really good.
So that one's tough. And now I wanted to ask
you about a bunch of two star pictures because one
thing I love doing is streaming pictures. But that gets
a little dangerous towards the end of the season, especially
you know if you're like really in rodo, like really

(23:46):
tight up against it with you know, ratios and counting
stats against other other managers. And then it had to
have like we like we just talked about, like one
blow up can just end your season. But also two
starts very attractive, especially in points formats. So I think
a lot of these are fringe starters who could be

(24:07):
available or could be on your bench in a lot
of leagues. And so I included a bunch of them.
And so the first one I'll toss out to you
is a weird one, Sean Maniah, who has a two
start week versus the Phillies and the Rangers. Are you
starting Sean Maniah?

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Am I starting Sean Manyah? Maybe I'm just looking for zero. Yeah,
I'm just looking at how he's done against the Phillies
in his career. I mean, they tend to run him
out of games pretty pretty early, so that one makes me.
That one makes me really nervous. So no, I'm not.

(24:45):
If again, if it's a I have to start for both,
I'm not because I really don't want Texas either for him.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
So yeah, it just it hasn't been very good this season,
especially recently because that ERA about five and a half.
A lot of that is more recently than when he
first came back. His first month in July, he had

(25:13):
an ERA around two, and then August seven, and then
the very beginning obviously it's only one start, but twelve
in September and for the second half of the season,
which again is like most of his season five point
eight three ERA over forty one two thirds innings. But
that's even worse, you know, more recently. So kind of

(25:33):
hard to trust someone trending in the wrong way, especially
with it's not like some of these other pitchers who
are going to have good matchups. But yeah, as enticing
as it is to get a two star pitcher, I
don't think I'm going with seum and I this week,
what about Slade CHACONI was not a huge name, but
he has two decent matchups, two start pitcher against the

(25:56):
Royals and the White Sox. The white Hot White Sox, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
White Hot because they got to play the Twins a
whole lot in the last couple of weeks. I think, Yeah, yeah,
he's interesting. I like his matchups. Is he a lefty?
I can't remember. I'm sorry, I know he's already. I
would have liked him better if he's a lefty anyway, Sorry,

(26:22):
I yeah, I mean I would still. I guess I
would still start him if I needed like counting and stats.
So because I think the Royals and the White Sox
are still going to give you, like a little bit
more help in that area. The Worlds don't strike out
a ton, but they're also not They're not gonna beat
you like to a pulp most of the time. But yeah,

(26:42):
so I think i'd be more willing to start him
than Manya. He doesn't excite me in any way, but
I would be willing to.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Again, we want to announce again our sponsor of the show,

Speaker 1 (28:08):
You made me doubt myself for a second there because
I was like, no, he's not a lefty. And I
was like, wait, is he Slade? Sounds like a lefty name?
But I knew he was a righty. Yeah, But I
was like, am I thinking of Like? Am I thinking
of someone else here? I thinking? Because I was like, well,
Parker Messig is a lefty, and I'm like, am I
mixing him up with Slade CHACONI right? Because like God forbid,

(28:28):
I miss you know, Shane Baz and TODs Brawley all
over again. So I just let you figure it out
on your own. Thanks, But uh, Slade, that would be
a great lefty reliever name like Slade something Chaconi isn't
a great believer name, but Slade would be a great
like lefty specialist name. I think I would start him

(28:48):
against the White Sox and Royals, but again it would
depend on the match, like the league. Like I have
a couple of leagues where pitching is deep in the
sense that it's not deep like there are a ton
of pictures available, but like you can start a lot
of pitchers and a lot of players. Managers in that
league start for volume and kind of just let the

(29:09):
law of large numbers, you know, work work everything out.
Where as long as you don't have like multiple blow ups,
if you throw out a ton of volume, we will
get the quality starts. We've got the strikeouts. You just
have to hope you're pitching is good enough that the
average of like your ear A and whip is good
enough while like locking in like the counting stats categories
like strikeouts in quarts. So I think it was like

(29:33):
in a league like that where I need the volume,
I'm starting him, But like if in tighter leagues where
you're only starting like six, he's probably not making the
cut for me. If I'm you know, if I have
a playoff pitching roster that got me to the playoffs,
I'm probably not fighting to put Chacni in there. What
about Noah Cameron at the Guardians and at the Phillies.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
Got those are tough matchups because I've I liked Cameron,
I had him on my team.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
I pretty much lefty.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Yeah, well, you know I tend to hunt down the lefties. Yeah,
I mean, I think, why did you pick such hard ones?
I think I would. I think I would. I think
I would still do it for him, just because I
don't like I mean, his strikeout percentage is not is
not high, but his walk percentage is also pretty low.

(30:26):
His whip is good. Yeah, he has the chance to
just get blown up by the Phillies. But I don't
have any problems starting against Cleveland, So it's a that's yeah,
it's fifty to fifty. But I would I would be
willing to start him more than the first two. So
I guess if that's the direction we're going to go here,
then each one is just better. But I just looked

(30:48):
at the rest of the names and that's not true.
So I would start no Cameron.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Yeah, I hate I hate the matchups. But I've really
been intrigued by him all season long. And it's the
one thing that you mentioned that's interesting is the strikeout right,
because it's around seven bran, but in the miners it
was above ten consistently, and so it's interesting that he's
kind of just been different at the major league level.
And maybe, you know, this is his first season in
the majors, so maybe that's coming and he's just kind of,

(31:14):
you know, like he's pitching very well without a ton
of strikeouts. If he can kind of take another step
up in the strikeout area, he could be really good.
It is tough to start against the Phillies given the
what they can do to pitchers, especially it's at Philly
at Citizens Bank Park, which is a very hitter friendly venue. Yeah,
I agree, I'm more likely to start him than the

(31:36):
other two, but given the lack of strikeouts and given
the tough matchup against the Phillies, I don't really want
to start him confidently. But he has been pretty good
at limiting the damages here despite some of his expected numbers.
Because Zra is three h three, his FIP, ex fIF
and Sierra are all around the mid fours, So I

(31:57):
also don't want to be holding the potato when that
regression comes, and so I am a little bit worried
about that. What about Will Warren versus the Tigers and
at the Red Sox, the Roman Anthony less Red Sox.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Yeah, I don't know I would start him. I mean,
I don't really even have to look too hard at that.
I think he has done well this year. Again, his
home rud splits used to be really dramatic, but I
don't think they're as dramatic as they were when I
was looking to start him the one time. He's he
is who he is right like, I mean, he is

(32:31):
Urra and expected Ra, his FIP and expect. They're kind
of like right next to each other. So like, you
know exactly what you're getting with him, and you're getting
almost a strikeout per inning. His walk rates a little
higher than I would like it to be, but I'm
I'm okay with that, especially the Roman Anthony Ellis Jared
Duran leading off Red Sox.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Yeah, and unlike Cameron, you will probably get strikeouts Will Warren,
Will Warren. What about Aaron Nola.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
I don't want anything to do with Aeronola ever, Yeah,
I don't think.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
So, I just I had to including with Star Pitcher
and he's such a big name. But I didn't even
mention the matchups. It might not matter, but versus the Mets,
versus the Royals, both at home. But yeah, six point
seven to eight ERA just another dud. And you know,
I I'm a Red Sox fan, but I follow the

(33:26):
Phillies very closely, you know, as someone who loves all
things Philly and lived in Philly for a while. You know,
I follow a lot of Philly people. And the thing
that they've been talking about for a while now is
like what do we do when we get to the playoffs,
especially without Zach Wheeler. Now they're like, we can't run
aaronola out there in a playoff game. And if the
Phillies don't want to run Aaron Nolau in the playoff game,
I don't want to run him out of my playoff matchup.

(33:46):
So I think I'm going to stay away too.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
Yeah, I mean, I was just looking at it, like,
and his is kind of the opposite where he's got
the six seven eight ERA right, and I'm like, oh,
his XCRA is way lower, but it's at four point
nine two. So like this isn't a like you're not
gaining a lot of even if even if fagression comes in,
you're not gaining a ton. He's still sitting in an
area that I don't want anything to do with him.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
So this last one might be the most interesting one,
but maybe you disagree. Caide Cavali first round pick at
the Marlins and versus the Pirates, So two pretty good matchups,
although the Marlins are sneaky like not terrible, and the
Pirates are a good matchup. But his era for the

(34:28):
season is not great, but he is coming off a
pretty good start five innings tour in rounds six strikeouts,
but that was on the heels of a dud against
the Yankees where he allowed seven are in runs. But
before that he had thrown two consecutive quality starts, one
of the box really, both of them against the Phillies,
and so he's shown some things. He has good matchups.
He's a you know, a top prospect, a first round

(34:52):
pick in twenty twenty, so not like you know, not
like shiny brand new top prospect, but a former top prospect,
former first round pick. Any interest in cape Cavali is
a two star pitcher at the Marlins or versus the
Pirates and versus the Pirates.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Yeah, I mean he faced him faced the Marlins like
three days ago, right, and he had a really good outing,
didn't give up any home runs, which was a giant
problem the two starts before that, but that was the
Yankees and the Phillies. So yeah, I don't have any
problem with my with with him starting against Miami, and
at this point, I don't have any issue with starting

(35:28):
anyone against the Pirates. You're only concerned there is if
you're facing Schmes and his microscopic or a like. You know,
that's tough for start. That's tough for an opposing starter
to get the win sometimes because usually it's what one
to one and then the Pirates give it up later.
So yeah, so yeah, so I bet I do like

(35:48):
him for the purposes of what we're talking about. Those
are two matchups that I wouldn't mind seeing what he
can do.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
Yeah, it's really only the Yankees that he had home
run issues with. And it's worth noting that start came
in Yankee Stadium, which is not a real ballpark, so
I don't even know if those count. In his previous
four starts, he only allowed two home runs combined over
four starts, and that includes one home run allowed across
thirteen innings against the Phillies, So not bad. Yeah, I

(36:17):
think it was really the Yankees. It just kind of
like lit him up and took him deep. Better than
that only and if you include this most recent start,
two runs in five of his last six starts. It
is tough to trust him because granted, he's not like
a young prospect anymore, but like, there's not a ton
of track record here and it could blow up in
your face, but I feel like the upside is there

(36:42):
enough to make me intrigued. I don't want to rank
these guys, but I feel like I will. Actually, it's
really hard to rank him because I don't even know
what I don't even know which one like Noah, Cameron
or TRACONI like Cameron more, but Cooni has the better matchups.

(37:04):
Why don't you rank him?

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Oh? Sure, yeah, throw it to me. Yeah, I mean
I think I was just.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
I would at the bottom.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
You can do that, Yeah, just again, toss him out entirely,
and Manaia's right above him just because of who he's facing. Uh, Okay,
so we.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
Got four left? Yeah, I think left four.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Left, Like, honestly, I think I would go Warren Cameron
to Coney Cavalley. And I know that that's kind of
backwards in terms of matchup, but that's in terms of
how I like them as pictures. So and you know,
I love what you said about like it's super risky
and I'm like, well, yeah, that's why people listen to us,
so we can tell them the super risky things that
they should be doing. And yeah, I think that I

(37:48):
think all of them have risk. But that's the order
i'd put.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Him in, Okay, I won't argue with him. Warren is
like I feel like he probably has the most upside,
but also like really tough man, Like I get like
you said, Roman Anthey is out there with the Red Sox,
but it's at Boston against Detroit. That's a tough one.
Like there's there's some blow up potential there. I almost

(38:12):
feel like Noah camera is probably the safest one. But
I do worry about that regression, you know, coming Like
I said, I don't want to be the one holding
the potato and the regression comes.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Yeah, and also his his lack of strike odes I
would rather roll the dice, not on a blow up obviously,
but I'll give up a couple more runs if I
can get more shrike ouds.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Okay. So we've talked a lot about those let's jump
over to waivers. Some of those players might be on waivers,
but let's talk about our you know, this is the
segment we call Waiver Central. Let's talk about our favorite
hitters and pictures of the week, and we'll start with
you your with your favorite waiver wire hitter.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
So I was just looking and again, like right now,
it's hard when we're going to recommend these names to
just check and see if they're rostered kids, like for like,
my choice, my first choice for waivers is Joe Adell,
just based on where our VBR has him thirty eighth
overall for the rest of the for the rest of season,
and I think I feel like he's available because people

(39:12):
have dropped him, picked him up, and dropped him so
many times. So it's like, just take a look if
he's out there. If it's a deeper league, I'm sure
he's not. I also threw Tyler Freeman on there rest
of the season. Our VBR weirdly likes a lot of
Rockies and most of them are totally available, So I
would kind of go down that path if you look ahead,

(39:34):
and again that's just rest of season. If we're looking
at just next week, Adele would be more of my pick,
I think. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
And the one thing I want to mention that we
were talking about this a little bit before the show,
but it can it's a little difficult to recommend names
right now because roster percentages it just means nothing at
this point, Like they're all if you look at the
different sites, they're wildly different. ESPN is a shallower format,
so it's always going to be lower. But even like
Yahoo versus CBS, there are so many leagues where you know,

(40:03):
like I said, we're into September, football has started, and
as much as we don't want to admit it, a
lot of managers have checked out. Sometimes entire leagues have
checked out. You know, if like if one manager, one
or two managers have really you know, taken off and
are you know, the two juggernauts in their league, it's
a good chance like half of that league isn't paying
attention anymore, and so roster percentage might be all over

(40:24):
the place, and so we might be recommending players who
already rostered in your league. But just know there are
a ton of leagues where these guys are not rostered,
and so if you're in one of them, you can
pick them up. We don't have to spend a ton
of time on it because we already talked about them.
But my favorite hitter for this week is Ramon Loreano, who,
like I said, roster percentage are all over the place. But
he's very available according to the numbers that I have,

(40:47):
and then Dalton Vorschrow even more available he does. He
has six games this week. He does have two lefties,
but he's been very good since coming back. What about
your favorite pitcher, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
My favorite pittuer just came back. He's only got one star,
Luis Garcia for Houston. He actually has two starts next week.
According to our probable pictures tool. He gets the Angels
at home. We've talked about facing them anytime we can. Uh,
he has to go to Texas later in the in
the week, but I would still feel pretty I'm okay

(41:18):
rolling him out there. I think that he looked good
in his first startback.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
He might end up as only one start. I was
looking at three different projections and maybe three or three
or four, but there was some disagreement on whether or
not he would have two starts attend to and he's
only going to get one based on what they're doing.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
But we'll as long as it's against the Angels, as
long as it's the first one, then.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
It might be against the Braves.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
Yeah, well either way, I'll still take him.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Yeah, it's looking like it's going to be against the Braves.
My favorite picture is someone we've alread talked about the
last few weeks. Luis Morales. Still very available, extremely available
on Yahoo and ESPN and even on CBS, which is
you know, kind of this time of year, like those
are more realistic, and you know, a lot of those

(42:08):
leagues are more active because a lot of you have
to pay for and so those leagues are more active.
But even then sixty percent roster dow on CBS, which
means he's still available on a lot of you know,
CBS leagues. And then he has a two step who
is he facing filibuster Red Sox and reds both at
home in that Sacramento ballpark. So two starts. But I

(42:36):
like him. I think he's good and I think he'll
be okay. And then Slaye Koney we already talked about.
And then as for some deep LEA targets, has Young
Kim is now the shorts off for the Braves. Seems
like he's going to get some run as the every
day shorts up there if you need some speed. Tyler
Wells is back with the Orioles. Jason Alexander is a
name who pitches for the Astros, and it looks like

(42:58):
he and not Luis Cartia could be the two star pictures.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
Yeah, can we can? I just add that I refreshed
that page and it went back to this week, so
I was looking at the I was looking at the
wrong week, so nobody has to comment on it. I
know that I screwed that up.

Speaker 1 (43:11):
Cheers, Okay, Okay, So it looks like Luis Garcia one
start and Jason Alexander two starts, but at Toronto and
at Atlanta. So that is why we're talking deep league
name because if you need, you know, in super deep
leagues two starts can be good almost no matter what,
unless they really kill you. I wrote Jose Cantana evergreen

(43:33):
pickup because he's just been someone who's just been like
turned to burn and the rosters all season long. And
for the most part it's gone pretty well. Not a
ton of strikeouts, but he also hasn't really destroyed you.
So I have basically and he's a two star pitcher too.
I feel like in a couple of leagues, I have
basically picked him up every time he was a two
star pitcher and then dropped him and then just like
done that all season long, and no one else has

(43:53):
grabbed him this. Jacob Latz is a very deep name,
and he also like isn't kind of like fully stretched out,
and it's not like one hundred percent he's projected to
be a two star pitcher. It's not like one hundred
percent he's gonna start all of those games, and so
kind of waits ye over the weekend, just make sure
he's locked in for two starts as of right now,

(44:14):
it projects to start against the Brewers and at the Mets,
but he's kind of like just still being stretched out,
but in a deep league two starts again, not the
best matchup still because Brewers are Mets not great. And
then Austin Hayes, we already talked about Ben slumping, but
he is warming up and a VBR of forty six
projected for the upcoming week and now struggling with lineup decisions.

(44:38):
Our lineup assistant recommends optimal lineup suggestions to maximize your
team's performance each day week. Just sink your league for
Taylor guidance based on your roster in league settings. Download
the Fantasy to Baseball on my playbook app or visit
fantaspros dot com slash MLB in my playbook to set
your winning lineup today. And that's closed things out with
some pitching streamers, which you've kind of already talked about
a lot on this show. But we'll go day by

(44:59):
day and our two star picture competition. Take it away, Kelly,
and again, as always, we are going to use our
Fantasy Bros. Streaming tool. As I tossed it to you
and then took it right back. But now now you
can take it, I'll talk toss it to you again.

Speaker 2 (45:12):
Okay. So I was looking and I I don't know
how to pronounce his last name. I'm gonna call him.
Is it Brian Bergert Bert? Okay? You have to understand
that I always, for whatever reason, want to make names French.
So I was like, is it Ryan Burge? Even though
you know that doesn't work at all.

Speaker 1 (45:33):
I actually know someone whose first name is Burge. How
about that?

Speaker 2 (45:36):
Well that's interesting.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
Yeah, do she haven't have my uncle's mistress's son.

Speaker 2 (45:42):
Okay, have him call me and see how he pronounces
all these names anyway. Yeah, So he gets Cleveland at home.
He's been pretty good from what I've seen, and he's
got a two six one the RA one O nine whip,
So I would run him out there, no problem and
see what happened. And it's not like I'm trying to
pick on the Guardians, but they're just you know, they're

(46:04):
they're weighted on base average according to our streamer tools,
just I might be like the lowest aside from the Rockies.
So I'll take it. On Tuesday, Kyle Bradish, who we
talked about a ton last week, gets and.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
He's another one. Sorry not to cut you off, but
he's another one who's like roster percentage all over the place.
So like, yeah, flip a coin if he's available in
your league, for sure.

Speaker 2 (46:26):
But if he is available, pick him up. Because he
gets Pittsburgh at home on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I believe
Ryan Weathers is back and he is going to face Washington,
and I believe at home, So I'll take the I'll
take his return in a Miami ballpark and against Washington,

(46:48):
who doesn't. They don't really scare me at all. On Thursday,
I don't know on Thursday. I mean, I don't know.
Uh Ian Seymour apparently is my new best friend. I
think I should just order a jersey. I have no
idea why, And like tonight he is. He's coming in

(47:09):
in like bulk relief. So they're gonna let Griffin Jackson
pitch the first inning and then he's gonna come in.
But like if he pitches, if he pitched, but why
not if he pitches five innings, even if it starts
in the second and they win, that's an easy win.
Like he he could go for and get the win.
But I like his stats. And again he gets the
white socks. It's in. It's in Chicago. But you know

(47:32):
he's he's one of my lefties. So I'm good with that. Friday,
Jonah Toong, who you talked about. You talked about him
last week, he gets uh Texas at home. Same deal
with the roster percentage. He may be out there and
he may not be out there. We don't have a
ton of we don't have a ton of sample size.

(47:53):
He's going to be going up against a gram, but
that's not as scary now as it was once upon
a time. Saturday, Parker Messic is scheduled to face the
White Sox. His whip is a little ugly, but I again,
well I'm not buying that the White Sox have turned
everything around at this point. And again, Lefty, I'll take it.

(48:15):
And Sunday was a mess. So I didn't see a
ton of people that I really liked there and I
simply wrote down Braxton Ashcraft because he's going against the UH,
he's going against Washington, and they had him fairly high up.
So those are my streamers. If you see somebody else

(48:36):
on Sunday, you should totally jump in, because I it was.
That was not a good day.

Speaker 1 (48:42):
I almost included him in a previous in one of
our earlier segments as like a potential pickup for those reasons.
But I will say another name I wanted to mention
someone we talked about last week is Peyton Toley, who
looked very good. He did eno. We talked about him
and Jonah Toongu, I think last week and their impending

(49:04):
debuts and both looked very good, and so he is
protected to start on Wednesday against the Athletics, and so
I would recommend him as well if he's available in
your league. I was able to pick him up in
one of my daily leagues, the one of the leagues
where I'm still alive, I was able to pick him up,
which I'm trying to change that league away from daily

(49:25):
pickups because I hate, like, because it's just like a
free agent free for all, Like if you just like
see some news, you can just grab him and like
and you know, pick someone up. So I kind of
wish we were doing waivers, but in that at least
in that case, I was able to pick up Peyton
totally and so far it looks very good.

Speaker 2 (49:42):
Cool.

Speaker 1 (49:42):
So that's the one extra one I would mention. I
don't see anyone that I, you know, definitely would include over.
I like Michael McGreevy, he gets the Seattle Mariners. That's
also on Wednesday, but you know, he would be probably
my third or fourth choice on Wednesday, So you don't
need to go out of your way. Tyler Wells, we
already previously mentioned he is, uh. He has recently you know,

(50:06):
he recently returned, but he is going to start against
the Pirates. Good matchup also on Wednesday, unfortunately, So if
you just want to stack all your starts on Wednesday,
you can do that. But yeah, other than that, I
think you did good job. Thank you for your Grammer
against the Blue Jays. I don't want to do that, Okay,
Kavali Saturday against the Pirates. Like we already mentioned, two

(50:30):
star picture, So if you want to get into bed
with that, you can. Now what did you say?

Speaker 2 (50:38):
It's the best of luck with that. You like Choconi
way more than I do. I think so.

Speaker 1 (50:44):
No, that wasn't CHACONI that was Kavale. Sorry, Kavali against
the against the Pirates.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (50:50):
So now to start picture competition, let's check in on
how the previous what's not where it was Kevin Gossman
for you, Cam Schlittler with no nickname for me, and
it was a bloodbath Cam Slitler forty three points, Kevin
Gosman twenty eight point five points. Pretty clear victory for

(51:13):
you boy, I mean Shutler.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
It's not that much of a blood bath. The points,
I certainly say so, but aside from the earned runs,
it's not awful in comparison.

Speaker 1 (51:25):
Yeah, we forgot to include quality starts in there. Yeah.
So Cam Slitler twelve innings, eight hits, one earned run,
four walks, sixteen strikeouts. Kevin Gossman thirteen namings pitch eleven hits,
five big earned runs, one walk, fifteen strikeouts. Cam Shulter
forty three points, Kevin Gosman twenty eight point five points.

(51:47):
Maybe not a bloodbath, but pretty clear victory, and which
brings us the current standings nine to seven to two.
Me up on you and Worm pretty sing that we
have two time this year though, nine to seven and two,
and then includes the Horme Run derby result which Worm won.
And so let's go to this week who, well, actually

(52:09):
the active week right now? I have Dylan Cs, you
have Drew Rasmussen, and it feels like, for like the
third week in a row, this has been a weird
week for pitching. For picking two start picture names. I
actually didn't look at who you picked and then picked.
I was like, oh, let me see if I've used
this guy already, And I just control ft to find

(52:30):
anim on the sheet, only to realize that you already
had him in as yours. So why don't you go
first and tell everyone who our mutual two star pitcher
pick would have been.

Speaker 2 (52:39):
Yeah, but you've already used him.

Speaker 1 (52:41):
That was gonna be my That's why I was looking
to see.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
If I had Yeah, so you had used him, Worm hadn't.
So I was like, all right, I'll throw it in
because I'm not taking credit again just for reverence, like
I'm not.

Speaker 1 (52:50):
Yeah, I was searching.

Speaker 2 (52:51):
I'm not taking the loss for this at all. Yeah,
so whatever, No, I'm taking on Brian Wu. He's got
two starts, supposedly, both at home against the Cardinals and
the Angels.

Speaker 1 (53:03):
Now if I say, woo woo woo, Kenny woo, do
you know what that reference is?

Speaker 2 (53:07):
No?

Speaker 1 (53:08):
Oh my god, you and wear them both. Woo woo woo,
Kenny woo. Mighty Ducks D two, Come on the second one.
You've never seen Mighty That one is the best one.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
Oh dear, Okay, it's not, but we can talk about
that later.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
It's the best one. Worm. I had never seen Mighty Ducks.
We had no idea what it's talking about.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
We can't do anything off of Worms movies. So I mean, like,
I will forgive you for Cobb as long as we
can talk about the other ones. Worms movie choices are interesting.

Speaker 1 (53:39):
Yeah, brutal, and plus he doesn't watch the Simpsons and
so he doesn't appreciate any of my Simpsons references, although
he made one of his own recently. He had one
of like the three clips in his life he's seen.
He made a he made a reference. So you're going
with Brian wo I am going with Logan Webb against
the He has got two starts at home against Diamondbacks

(54:00):
against the Dodgers, so hopefully that works out well for me.
But there weren't a lot of other great names. Most
of the names we talked about earlier in this episode,
who are kind of like fringe two star pitchers, and
so it was basically one of these two names or
one of those names, and so I decided to go
with the safer, you know, ace level name, despite you know,

(54:22):
not the best matchups but not the worst. It all
depends on what the Dodgers decided to do that day,
But there weren't a lot of other options that we
haven't picked. Garret Crochet was the clear number one option,
but we both are to use them. And then after that,
Slay Chacone, Ryan Bergertonjasetana and Aaron Nola You Darvish, it's

(54:45):
got two starts. But other than that, that's we've already
talked about everyone and getting two stars, and these were
kind of like the clear top two other than Garrett
Garrett Crochet, who we've already used. Anything else before we wrap.

Speaker 2 (54:58):
Up, No, I think I think we're good and good
luck to everyone if you're still in it.

Speaker 1 (55:03):
So yeah, And I will say this is the time
of year where I tried to be as like specific
as I could with like lineup decisions and stuff. But
if you have questions, toss them on YouTube. I'll hop
in there and answer what I can, because I know
it's kind of a you know, you're setting your lineups
and it's kind of a weird time, and we're getting
towards the end of the season, especially, you know, if
you're in head to head, you're in the playoffs, maybe

(55:24):
in the championship already, depending on how early your league lies.
To do that, I try and avoid some of the
silliness at the end of the season. Then in roto
trying to finish strong. We'll see how many more episodes
we have. We definitely have at least one more to
kind of close things out, possibly two more. We'll see
how the schedule goes. But also let us know in
the comments what you want to do with that. You know,
how many more episodes you want? Ten? One? Two?

Speaker 2 (55:46):
What do you want to talk about in the last one?

Speaker 1 (55:49):
Yeah, that's true. We might do one. We might do
like one more, skip a week while Kelli's on vacation,
and then come back and close things out. But we'll
see how it goes. But definitely we'll be back next
week with some more information. But in the meantime, let
us know if you have any comments or questions, and
also if you've liked this podcast this season or you know,

nice about Kelly, and we really appreciate it. And so
for Kelly. I'm Mike Mayor. This has been the cycle
and thank you for stopping by.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
