Speaker 1 (00:15):
Everyone, Welcome into the Finnis Bro's Football Podcast. I'm Bobby
Sylvester and Mike Tagli are still out this week, but
we've got Kyle Yates with us. Any great guest. We've
got a mock draft episode. Gates, you're gonna take this
bed boy down. Oh, let's go. I won last one
while you were out, so I gotta I gotta continue
the street. So the champions are going against each other.
And our guest is a great guest. It's Chris Harris
(00:35):
of the Harris Football Podcast. You can give us all
of follow on Twitter if you don't already. We're at
Bobby finnsy Pro at Kyle y NFL, and Chris is
at Harris Football and Harris Football dot Com. Chris, your
almanac comes out this weekend. Baby excited. I'm exhausted, but
I'm excited. Thank you for mentioning it. I think you've
seen it every year. Yeah, you're you're on that select
list of people who just miraculously just shows up in
(00:58):
your inbox. But yeah, it's I've been writing it since
May third or something. Every single day since then. I
haven't probably had a single day off from writing it.
But it's like two hundred and fifty player profiles and
film grades and lots and lots of snark, and you know,
I think you can testify it's pretty fun. It's a
lot of fun. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. Always
(01:19):
have a blast having you come on the show, being
able to come on your show. And today we're doing
a mock draft, which just kicks it up a notch.
Always going to be a lot of fun. And we're
using a multi user draft, which I'll explain here in
just a second. But first, we have a whopper of
a giveaway going on right now. We are giving away
a sign to Vante Adams helmet and a two hundred
dollars gift card to Pristine Auction, and a two hundred
dollars gift card to Port Rhode Butcher, and a package
(01:42):
of fantasy football goods for your league's champion and last
place loser from Trophy Smack, and a one month subscription
to Fubo TV. All of this is going to go
to one lucky listener once we hit seven thousand reviews
on Apple Podcasts, And in addition, we're gonna be giving
a bonus to the winner if they subscribe to our
YouTube channel YouTube dot com slash Fantasy Pros, and the
bonus prize is we're going to be doing a zoom
(02:03):
call with all of us fantasy analysts. It is going
to be an absolute blast, so make sure to get
your entries in. All you have to do is to
leave an honest review on Apple Podcasts, take a screenshot
of that review, and also take a screenshot show and
that you subscribe to our YouTube channel to qualify for
the bonus prize and send those to contest at Fantasy
pros dot com. Guys, when you leave these reviews, we
really really appreciate them. First of all, it really helps
(02:25):
show support for the show and helps more people learn
about the show. But it also helps us to be
able to do more giveaways. And we read every single
review that you guys do. We want to know what
you guys think about the show. That way, if we're
doing anything wrong, we can fix it. If we're doing
anything right, we can keep doing it. We just want
to give you guys the best show. We read every
single one of them. You guys ready to do this
mock draft? Let's go, man, surely. Although I have to
(02:46):
say though, like the grading about who wins, that's all,
you're the people who make the system that decides who wins, Like,
I don't abide by the results of this who wins nonsense.
You drive lawyers, you want that. We don't care about
the grades or whatever. I'm gonna talk trash regardless, even
if I get last place. I'm gonna talk trash. Like.
The people just want to know who we want to draft.
(03:08):
So yeah, we're all gonna draft honestly based on our rankings,
and we'll see what happens here. So I hate the
start draft button. And this is the multi user draft.
You can see it on our YouTube channel YouTube dot
com slash Fantasy pros. Oh wow, would you look at that?
So it gave us random draft order every single time.
Oh I'm sorry. I thought I had the number one pick,
and I was about to say, if you get the
number one overall pick again, I'm walking out. Well, it
(03:30):
says it happens almost every time, Chris. I have no
idea why this year I keep getting the number one pick,
but it says team one on the clock and it's highlighted.
So I was like, oh man, I got the number
one pick again, just because I'm used to seeing it
that way. But Chris, you have the fifth pick, I
pick sixth, and Yates you pick eighth. So Christian McCaffrey
came off the board, sae Quon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Ezekiel, Elliott, Chris,
(03:52):
who are you gonna grab a pick number five? All right?
So we had McCaffrey, Barkley, Henry Henry. I'm not gonna
take Derek Henry. I'm glad to hear you say that.
I agree, I'll take up. So what's the format here
as a standard? It's half PPR, and so you know
your top options as recommended right now, Alvin Kimara, it's
(04:13):
got I totally agree. And that's really disappointed to me
because I would have loved to have Kimara. Now, Yates,
if you were here, it's not gonna matter because I'm
taking one of the guys that's going to be gone
by your pick. But would you grab Michael Thomas or
would you go with one of the elite running backs
I mean second tier running backs? Yeah? Yeah, I want
one of the second tier running backs. And I actually
I mean the first tier is McCaffrey and Barkley. In
my opinion, Zeke's kind of into tier on his own.
(04:35):
But as far as the guys who are going to
put up those elite numbers, it's McCaffrey and Barkley. And
then you're kind of in this this third tier here
with guys like Kimara, Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, you know,
those kind of guys. I would be looking at one
of these these running backs. You disagree with something there,
Chris Sure. I mean to say that Kimara is in
some dramatically different tier than Elliott I think is wrong.
(04:57):
I think we're basically yeah, yeah, nothing, we're basing it
on a guy playing within Yeah no, it touched on
right and highcles brain. I mean Kmaro's Kamaro. I he's great.
I have Camara number two. Do you have, say, Kwon
Barkley number two or Kamara? I have Barkley one, I
have McCaffrey two. Interesting, WHOA, Okay, yeah, I mean this
is this is entirely about not last year. Clearly Barkley
(05:20):
also that was hurt. And sure, you know McCaffrey has
proven me wrong all the way through. He's awfully small
to be doing what he's doing. I've always said, if
he's Barry Sanders, then I've just been wrong about his career.
But we'll see what you know, the curse of four hundred,
We'll see you know. I have Clyde Edwards Hilaria is
the next running back on my board, just because I
think that he has a very low bust rate as
(05:42):
being the clear cut starting three down bell cow back
for the Kansas City Chiefs in that offense. However, I'm
taking Michael Thomas here now he's still available for you,
and it says, Ceh, no matter what is your team names,
are you taking him? At one away. I did a
little tribute here to draft day. Yeah, I'm I'm gonna
take Clyde Edwards Hlayer. It's probably not going to work
out the best for my draft grade in the end,
but that's not what we're here for. We're not here
(06:03):
to to try to get the best draft grade right
here and nobody's game in the system. We're here to
educate the people. So at this point, we know that
Damian Williams has opted out for the twenty twenty season.
So yeah, at this point, I am taking Clyde Edwards
Hilary above guys like Joe Mix and Kenyan Drake, Nick Chubb.
His potential in this offense is outstanding, and so to
(06:26):
get him here at the one away is someone as
my RB one. I'm excited about it. Now, before we
hit the draft button, I want to know who are
you hoping comes back to you at the two or
five pick? Well, sorry, I hit the draft button. So
I'm really hoping. I'm I'm really hoping Kenyan Drake is there. Yeah. Yeah,
I'm really hoping Kenyan Drake comes. I'll look at that.
Oh man, he actually is there. Kenyan Drake, Nick Chubb,
(06:47):
Aaron Jones are the top running backs that are on
the board. I'm looking at my rankings here in a
half PPR, I do have Kenyan Drake above Aaron Jones
and Nick Chubb. I have Drake at nine and then
Jones at eleven Chubb at twelve. So looking at these guys,
Drake is the top running back that I want if
I am going to go running back. I'm looking at
the wide receivers though. I've got Travis Kelsey at tight
(07:10):
end obviously, but then Kenny Galladay and Alan Robinson Juju
at wide receiver. I don't know if I want to
take these guys yet, because Alan Robinson has been going
in the third round consistently, and I think I can
get him later on. So I am going to take
Kenyan Drake here to pair with Clyde Edwards Hilaire. I
feel like that's a good start to a draft. I
like the pick. Now, Chris, you said you don't like
Kenyan Drake. I mean, I like him, fine, But you
(07:31):
gotta take Chubb there? You think so absolutely? I mean
I understood, we all understand the drawback, of course, but
I think at some point you just take the best player.
And Nick Chubb is one of the five best running
backs in the league. Well, I've got good news for you.
I agree. I think Nick Chubby is one of the
best five running backs in the league. However, I'm not
so sure that they're going to use him with the
same volume as some of these other guys, just because
(07:53):
Kareem Humpt was so dang good when he came back
in Week eleven last year. See, you're I got good
news for you, Chris. You're gonna get Nick Chub because
I'm not taking him. Now. This is really weird for
me because I would very rarely leave round one and
two without a running back. But Travis Kelsey still sitting there,
I would have taken him with the one to turn.
It's just such an advantage having that tight end. So
I've get the best wide receiver, the best tight end.
(08:15):
I'll figure running back out later. Now, this is why
we do the mock drafts, is because we want to
practice and we want to see if stuff like this
bites us in the butt. Maybe it will. I'm gonna
find out, and you guys will get to laugh at
me if if it doesn't. So I get Michael Thomas
and Travis Kelsey. Yates says, Clyde Edwards Hilary and Kenyan
Drake and Chris. How do you feel about having Alvin
Kamara and Nick Chubb to start your team? Yeah, I
(08:36):
just don't feel like that's going to be a realistic
As we get it further in a draft season, I
think people are going to come to their senses on Chubb.
I guess the Edwards Hilaire thing, it's defense. It's defensible
to say Edwards Hilaire over Chubb. I don't think that's
an outrageous statement. I actually think Drake over Chub is
a worst statement. So I wouldn't like haras. I just
think as we go people are gonna start to realize it.
(08:58):
We don't know about volume. We always think we know
about volume, and we just don't good players touch the ball.
I'm gonna be really, really what what number pick overall
is this? I don't I've never seen this before. I've
done fifty drafts and the draftways, and I've never seen
Chubb fall this far. If you get to pick twenty
and Nick Chubb is there, America and world, please take him.
(09:20):
I'm not a big believer in Nick Chobb. I understand
obviously why you would pick him. I like Kenyan Drake Moore.
I agree with Yates on that one. Now we saw
Lamar Jackson come off the board, Patrick Mahomes come off
the board. You've got some wide receivers at the top
of the recommendation, Jujus, Misshuster, Amari Cooper, DJ Moore? Are
you going with one of them? Are you grabbing your
third running back? Here? Did Beckham go? Yes? Beckham would
(09:42):
have been the I sort of I know it would
have been Brown heavy, but I sort of would have
hoped that I would have gotten Beckham as us as
a sort of sweet steal right there. I would have
loved that too. I would have loved to get Beckham. Sure,
so we've seen Evans go. Yep, we've seen Evans go.
Have we seen theland go flings on the board. Thelan
is on the board. So are you are you a
feeling fan, Chris Well, I guess you. You haven't looked
(10:04):
at I just want to clarify to everyone listening. Chris
has not looked at ADP, which I think is awesome.
He doesn't know what the general republic thinks because he
wants to give his opinion on the rankings, and so
he doesn't know that most people Adam feeling right now
is going as like the wide receiver fifteen, right, I
get him in my top ten, Chris, he is numb.
He's actually not highest on my list. I have theealand twelve,
(10:25):
but I actually am am Mariy. Cooper's the answer, Mark
Cooper's the answer. I'm gonna take Cooper. I'm gonna take
him here, and then you'll you'll go with your pick.
But I gotta go. He's He's the highest rank receiver
that I have left. And you know, I feel pretty
well said at running back. I don't feel the need
to take a tight end here, So I'm just gonna
take my highest receiver left on the board, and Cooper
definitely doesn't belong to the list of receivers that I
(10:48):
feel great about. There's about six of those, So I,
by no means like I understand what's wrong with Mariy Cooper.
I understand there are gonna be four games. I'm really
happy to have him in twelve, I'm not, but I
still think I like him here, Yeah, I mean, I
think it's this stage in the draft. I'd be fine
take him. He's one player I won't have many shares of,
but at this point, yeah, I think he might be
the best available. I've got the eel in a little
bit higher. Now, if you guys want to do this,
(11:09):
uh this kind of multi user draft and you can
check it out at fantasypros dot com slush draft Wizard.
So this is the same exact thing as the Draft Wizard.
In fact, you can watch it on YouTube and see
what we're all looking at. Same exact things Draft Wizard,
except instead of drafting against eleven AI teams, you can
draft against as many human teams as you want. Getting
here with your friends and compete. Now's the time to
get some practice drafts in again. You can check it
(11:31):
out at fantasypros dot com slush draft Wizard. I heard
he said, I'm taking a running back for me. The
top player on my board is Todd Gurley. Really big
fan of Todd Gurley this year moving to a better
offensive line. I don't see any competition for touches and
so he's the pick for me, having already Michael Thomas
and Travis Kelcey. I need that running back Todd Gurley
in the third round. Todd Gurley. See great. Are you
(11:54):
saying that's too high or too low? Too low? It's great.
I mean the number one, two or three pick. Year.
Like I, of course we know what the risks are,
but I love the reward. Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
Some people are like, man, Bobby, you just have Todd
Gurley in the third You idiot? What do you think? Man?
Is that who you would have taken? I mean, if
I started my roster the way that you had, yes,
(12:14):
I would have taken Todd Gurley. Because you're looking at
these guys you need, you need a running back and
if you're wanting upside, Todd Gurley's got it. Obviously. He
comes with incredible risk where we're talking about is he
going to be, you know, a shell of his former
self and what we saw in Los Angeles, or is
he gonna be, you know, a dynamic option in this offense.
So I think he certainly can be. I think he's
(12:35):
going to be phenomenal when he's healthy. He's gonna get
the workload. He's gonna get the work out of the
backfield in the receiving game. But you know, it's just
a question of is he gonna be fully healthy are
they going to utilize him as much as he needs to.
Since he's joined the league, he's played the third most
games among all running backs in the NFL. Like, I
get it, he's got the knee concerns, but he's been
pretty dang durable. Yeah, it's just been a quite like
(12:56):
he's been on the field. They haven't given him the
same workload obviously. That it what he was when he
got back to back wide receiver running back one finishes. Yeah,
I mean, I guess if he did, he'd be like
a top three pick. So I'm kind of drafting mattis
value yeates, who are you grabbing here your first wide receiver? Yep,
I'm gonna go wide receiver here, I'm gonna go with
DJ Moore. He's the highest guy on my list here.
I don't expect this offense to be a very high
(13:17):
scoring offense as far as putting up incredible, you know,
touchdown numbers, but they're gonna be throwing the ball a ton,
especially with that defense, and I think if that's the case, man,
he's gonna be featured. DJ Moore is going to be
featured in this game. One hundred and fifty targets is
not out of the realm of possibility. So to get
him here in the third round as my wide receiver one,
I know he's going to give me a safe floor
(13:37):
week in and week out, and especially in a PPR form.
At any form of PPR, he's gonna be phenomenal. Yeates,
I'm really bothered that somebody dropped you. I think maybe
instead of picking a wide receiver, you should just go
with a third running back. Here, man, take a kicker
right here, I'm taking. I am taking my guy right man.
I thought you might pick him last round. I know
(13:59):
I was thinking about it. I also Robert Woods went
the pick before mine, and that was going to be
a very tough decision. If I had Woods and Ridley
both on the board. It's Calvin Ridley guys to pair with,
you know, the two running backs that I've got, and
then Dj Moore. I have Calvin Ridley as a top
twelve wide receiver this year, and so to get him
here at the fourth round. I've said it all offseason,
(14:21):
it's a steal. Chris. Where do you have Calvin Ridley
ranked right now? This is a player that some people
have very low and some people have extraordinarily high. Now
I'm excited about Ridley. It depends on if he gets
the volume. I'm guessing he will. He's been an extremely
efficient player. Yates obviously is quite high in him. That's
who I would have taken if he would have fallen
to me instead. I'm looking at the running backs right now.
(14:44):
I don't love what I see. Melvin Gordon, James Connor,
Levian Bell. I might plug my nose and pick one
of them, but I also, yeah, I gotta do it.
I'm a big Keenan Alan guy, and he's still available
to me. And when we're talking about someone in the
past three years, he's number four behind Julio Jones, Michael Thomas,
and Deandrew Hopkins. In terms of fantasy points. I get it,
Tyrod Taylor's there, But Keenan Allen's an extraordinary football player,
(15:07):
and I'm getting him as the wide receiver twenty two
off the board. I gotta do it. Yates has Clyde
Edwards Hilary and Kenny Drake, and then he went Dj
Moore and Calvin Ridley. I started off wide receiver tight
end with Michael Thomas and Travis Kelsey. Then I grabbed
Girly and Keenan Allen and Chris right now was on
the clock in the fourth round. He's got Alvin Kamara,
Nick Chubb and Amari Cooper. I like all three of
our starts. Who are you going with here in round four? Chris?
(15:29):
Or who would decide a twin? Yeah? Just a bunch
of names. You're thrown out, and I don't know. Do
not have a pick for you until I have it.
I guess I could see my way through to taking
Gordon Melvin Gordon. Yeah, yeah, we got four seconds here, Chris,
Let's see who it auto drafted. You got Melvin Gordon regardless,
so it works out? Yeah? No, I got him, I
(15:49):
picked it right, Okay, good deal? Yeah, Jonathan Taylor came
off the board, lay them Bell, James Conner, a couple
wide receivers. One of them I was hoping would fall
back to me. Now, let's see you've got through. Are
you running back? So I imagine you're probably not taking
a fourth. Let's see, Sutton, I assume went lock at
Juju Keenan Yep, that's right. Yeah, those guys are off
the board. A J. Brown is gone right. AJ Brown's
(16:12):
off the board. The top wide receivers listed are Terry McLaurin, Stefond, Diggs,
Jarvis Landry. I'll take Diggs, You'll take Diggs. Yeah, it
would be close between Diggs and McLaurin for me. Yeah,
I clearly don't particularly love the idea of Josh Allen,
but I don't know. I mean, we've talked about it
on my show a little bit that I certainly never
loved the idea of Kirk Cousins. And to be honest,
(16:33):
there are some things that Diggs wants to do that
Allen is better suited for. You know, he's much more
likely to take chances down the field. So I've certainly
am signing up with Diggs for a little more boom bust.
But I mean, let's face it, at this point among receivers,
unless I want to take Jarvis Landry, there's you pretty
much are signing up for boom bust. So I'll take
a really, really good player. That was going to be
a difficult decision from me, between Diggs and Terry McLaurin.
(16:54):
I get it. I only have one running back right now.
I'm probably the only team in the league with I'm
looking right now. No, there's one other team that has
zero running backs Team Team twelve. So we'll see what
they end up doing. But I don't want to take
David Johnson. I don't want to take mark Ingram, David
Montgomery and Raheem Mostered. It would be close for me,
but I'm not reaching for either of those guys. Maybe
one drops to me, but I'm taking the best player
(17:16):
on my board, and it's really not even close. It's
Terry McLaurin. I get it, it's not a great offense,
but this is a special football player, and I think
he's got no competition for targets. I love this to
find Diggs pick. However, and Yates, it is back to you.
Are you going with your third running back, third wide receiver? Quarterback.
Now I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go with my
third running back, and I just gotta say I love
that pick Bobby of Terry McLaurin there at that spot
(17:38):
to get him in the fifth round. I have him
as I'm just outside my top twenty wide receivers, so
I have him ranked above Adp. I know that. You know,
Chris hasn't looked at that a bunch this year, but man,
he's going super late in drafts and if you can
get him here in the fifth round, sometimes even into
the sixth round, Yeah, the offense isn't fantastic, but he's
the main guy there. You know, you have Antonio Gainey
Golden now as the outside receiver. Steven Sims will factor in,
(18:01):
I think in some specific touches, and then Antonio Gibson's
going to be involved, but outside of that, man, it's
really going to be him as far as the main guy.
He should see a ton of targets this year. So
I love that pick. I just realize who you're picking
because he's still available to you. Yeah, it's David Montgomery.
It's David Montgomery. I mean, sitting here at the five
O eight for him, to still be on the clock.
I mean, and I've talked about this before, a lot
(18:23):
of people are not going to be excited about drafting
David Montgomery. The hype on him was extremely high last year,
and people it got out of control and he burned
a lot of people last year. I'm not going to
pretend that that didn't happen, but that's reflected in his
ADP right now, the part where you're getting him in
your drafts, the investment is not, you know, that high,
(18:43):
and he's easily going to return value simply based on
his workload. So to get him here at the back
towards the back of the fifth round to be my
running back three, that's incredible. Yeah, you don't think so,
you don't you don't like him? Not incredible? I mean,
it's not incredible as he's not a good player. Like
in the end, the problem is why shouldn't why won't
(19:04):
he just produce the same season, the same wet fart
as he did last year, Like it's priced fairly. I'm
not saying it's ridiculous, but I don't think it's incredible.
I don't know, man, Melvin Gordon was awful his rookie year.
As well. You remember when Todd Gurley was a single
least efficient running back in football. I think it was
a product of the offensive problems. I could watch Melvin
Gordon and Todd Gurley play and noticed that they were
good at football and just not getting blocks. And what
(19:25):
I watched with Dave Montgomery was gaping. Do you remember
the opening game Thursday night? I know we gotta go,
but do you remember that game when I think it
was Troy Aikman watching Dave Montgomery try to cut into
like a twenty foot hole, going wow, he just had
to hit to place his foot down on the ground
like six times before he could turn around. That should
have been a hundred yard game. I've never seen that before.
I feel I feel like unfortunately. I mean, you're right.
(19:46):
If he proves to be a better player than he
showed last year, great, but you know, until further notices.
For me, he's Jordan Howard, I'll take the two hundred
and fifty touches. I mean, Jordan Howard was a useful
fantasy football running back, a solid RB two just because
he was until until he wasn't. I mean he was
until his team went. This guy stinks, I mean so
I'm not I'm not making fun of Kyle for the
pick at all. I'm just I don't think it's incredible.
(20:07):
We want to hear what you have to say about
the players, So glad you brought it up, Yates. Who
are you taking in the sixth round here? Yeah, it's
between Jarvis Landry and Tyler Boyd for me, and I'm
gonna go with Jarvis Landry, who was a little bit
higher in my rankings to be my wide receiver three.
He's not necessarily going to have consistent top end production.
I think you know, he doesn't have it an enormous
ceiling in this offense with them being primarily run heavy.
(20:28):
But for him to be my wide receiver three, I
know he's going to give me a safe floor week
in and week out. And you know, this is obviously
on the basis that we don't know what his full
health is right now. There's been reports that he might
not be ready to start the season, so that obviously
plays a factor in you know, if we were around
draft season, right where people are actually drafting, then I
might be a little bit more hesitant to draft Jarvis
Landry here. But in the sixth round right now, where
(20:51):
we're sitting. I'll take him, all right, guys, we're gonna
move on to the next pick here in just a second.
But first, if you guys haven't checked out Prist Team Auction,

So I was thinking about taking Dak Prescott if he fell,
because you know, you get him in the sixth round.
I don't like to grab a quarterback early, but in
the sixth round I would have taken Dak. Who do
you have as your number three quarterback on your board?
It would be I'm trying to think about, top my head, Watson, right, yeah,
Deshaun Watson. Okay, Watson and Wilson. I don't have Dak
(22:18):
until like eight Okay, yeah, Watson is still available. My
running back fell where heem Mostert, So I'm taking him
for sure. It's it's risky. We have no idea what
Shanahan's gonna do with his backfield because it's Shanahan. But
I think there's a lot of upside here. Now He's
not going to get a lot of work in the
passing game just because he's not a great bass catcher,
but when he was the clear cut starter for the
forty nine ers last year, he was excellent. And I
(22:39):
love this offense from a running perspective. So where he
Mostart's my number two running back with Todd Gurley's my
number one. Now, Chris, it's back to you and what
position are you? Are you grabbing DeShawn Watson? Oh no, okay,
I mean this is again standard standard league. I'm just
gonna wait forever for a quarterback, so I'll probably say
wide receiver. Again. I think I'm at three running backs
(22:59):
and to wide receivers, and it feels like just unless
there's an extraordinary running back value on the board, the
best guys mark Ingram apparently guys, I would you know,
Ronald Jones, I think these are fairly priced players, right,
so I don't I wouldn't think, oh, terrible pick. But
given the roster construction, and given that frankly at wide
(23:20):
receiver this year, I think it makes a lot of
sense to just fire a lot of bullets. Given the
season we just had, it makes sense to fire a
lot of bullets. So at wide receiver, we're looking at
Tyler Boyd, Michael Gallop, Marquis Brown, Marvin Jones, Brandon Cooks,
Will Fuller. Yeah, I'll probably take Cooks again. I'm just
gonna fire like maybe bullets, you know, So I think
(23:41):
I'll There's a tier of wide receivers from about twelve
to about fifty that are all the same to me
to some degree. I just kind of want a lot
of them, and so Cooks is fine, like even if
you if you tell me no, it should be Fuller,
dummy like no, I'll you know, I agree everyone in
this range is about the same. I like to avoid
a little bit more. But that's kind of nit thinking.
Brandon Cooks is my number two of that group. He's
(24:03):
much much much safer, right, Like, that's the the issue
is always going to be what do you what else
do you have? What have you taken to that point?
And you know, so I'll take I'll take the upside
risk guy, all right, back to you. Deshaun Watson's gone,
Matt Ryan off the board. A couple of tight ends
came off the board, Darren Waller and Hunter Henry. So
it's getting a little ugly at the position besides Evan Ingram.
(24:24):
But I don't really like Evan Ingram. So, nah, I'm
not gonna take a tight end or quarterback for a while.
I don't think that's gonna be usually gonna be my strategy,
So I'll probably look for best available. You mentioned Darius
Guys Ronald Jones, right already, he's gone. Unfortunately, I would
have loved to have him as my RB three. Yeah,
I probably would have taken Hunt here, and like Taylor
(24:45):
and Swift have gone, Yeah, yep, yep, they're both gone,
and Carson has gone long time Agoway, So yeah, Carson
was taken I think three rounds ago. Yeah, I think
I would probably. I think I'm in best available mode.
What are we in round seven right now? So I'm
gonna go running back, I'm gonna go wide receiver, whichever
looks best. I'll take the shot on guys. Of course,
(25:05):
I know everything can go wrong. I know what the
problem is with the situation. We know all of it.
But I thought, in the brief window that we got
to see him, he had the traits of a special player.
He had the traits of sort of a little bit
slower Nick Chubb, like he could be one of those
big guys who can cut. I think if Washington does
anything other than baby him to try to get him
through the season, they're crazy. But I don't know. Ron
(25:25):
Vera sometimes crazy. I haven't been a big fan of
watching Darius Guys him, and I know he had some
breakaway plays, but well, you haven't watched him much because
he hasn't played much. Well, yeah, that's right, I haven't
watched him much. But I don't see any difference between
the Eric Darius Guys and David Montgomery on tape. Oh
you're crazy, Yeah, go watch him film, Bobby, I haven't
watched all the film. I disagree. You're crazy, man, You're crazy. No,
(25:49):
Montgomery can't get to the hole and Guys definitely can
get to the hole when he's right. I mean, Montgomery
deserves to go higher, you know, ish in the third
for me, kind of in the same neighborhood, I might
take Guys first, but like I understand the argument that
says in the Standard League, especially like no Montgomery, I
just know I'm gonna get a lot of work out
of him. But because Guys has been hurt for two years,
all right, I've got two running backs here, and I
(26:12):
really don't love my options. However, it's probably time to
take number three before my number three running back is
just awful, So Ronald Jones, time for me. I like
Tyler Boyd the best. But here you go, Gates, you
can have a president and get Tyler Boyd as your flex.
He already has Jarvis Landry though doesn't he does have Jarvis.
Tyler Boyd went, I thought you were gonna grab now
(26:33):
I was gonna take Tyler Boyd. Well, let me ask
you before you say your pick, Kyle, like, do you
worry about roster construction when you when you're already basic
or already have Tyler Boyd and his name is Jarvis Landry.
I mean, I think Tyler Boyd possesses a little bit
more upside in this offense, particularly now with Joe Burrow.
I think he might get off to a slower start
as Joe Burrow acclament. I'm just talking about slot guys
who aren't going to kiss the ball down the field,
(26:53):
who are fine, They're gonna be like safe, nice floor.
I like having Boyd on a team. I just don't
know if I want Boyd and Lander on the same No,
I'm fine with it. I'm fine with it because I've
seen what Tyler Boyd can do. I think he has
a little bit of a higher ceiling, but yeah, he's
gonna give me a safe floor, and especially in a
league where I have to we also have to start. Wait,
you're saying Boyd as a higher ceiling than Landry. Landry
just finished like wide receiver. I know Boyd has also
(27:16):
finished like phenomenally well in previous seasons. And we saw
one hundred and forty eight targartself top of my head
last year. So I think Boyd in this offense particularly,
we saw what Joe Burrow did with the slot receiver
with Justin Jefferson, and so I think AJ Green obviously,
like this is why he's in the seventh round. Tyler
Boyd's going in the seventh round because you do have
AJ Green coming in or coming back, you have T
(27:37):
Higgins coming in, So those definitely that definitely affects it.
But as far as him here at this spot, I
like it. Okay, So I've got twelve seconds left, I'm
gonna take I'm gonna take JK. Dobbins here and to
go as my r before. So yeah, we're going from
you know, I was gonna look at Tyler Boyd who
was a safe option. You know, we talked about in
comparison to A Jarvis Landry, JK. Dobbins, I think is
(28:01):
going to have some standalone value in some matchups, right.
I don't think he's going to be someone that you
can roll out consistently week in and week out. But
if we're talking about an upside pick here in the
seventh round, JK. Dobbins is the guy that I want
to leave this round with. I would absolutely take him
above Darius Guys like ten times out of ten because
I think he has the league winning upside, whereas Darius
(28:22):
Guys might not even be the starter on this Washington team.
I think AP is going to be the guy sure,
And you're right, Dobbins probably isn't going to be the
starter guys does Guys does have league winning upside? I
just think you're both wrong about it. You think so,
I can't see it in this offense, and now we'll
find out. No, I don't think so in this offense. Okay,
you're talking situation, and we were doing this draft last year,
(28:42):
you'd have been like Ravens Okay, you know, like, I
don't know, it's the run game. Good as lamar Jackson
good like things change from year to year. I'm just
saying in terms of ability, Dobbins has better ability than
guys does, no question about it. But guys does have
size that Dobbins doesn't have and does have that combo
of power. And so I think just in terms of
all But if Washington suddenly is a good offense, which
I'm not predicting, but I can't tell you that it
(29:04):
isn't going to happen because I wouldn't have told you
the Ravens are gonna be the best offensive football last year.
I would have. I think Isis has more upside than
you're giving a credit for. All Right, Yates, which way
he going? Seconds? Yeah? Ten seconds left? I want looking
at the wide receivers, I'm not a huge fan of
any of that are in this range. So I'm going
to continue to load up on running back. I'm gonna
take treat Cohen. Now. I'm not necessarily as excited as
(29:26):
what you know. I'm not projecting anywhere close to his
twenty eighteen finish as the running back thirteen, but for
him to be going as the RB forty four off
the board right now is way too low. I think
he is this offense is going to bounce back. I
do have David Montgomery and Treat Cohen, so I'm not
super excited about that. But I'm also looking at Tree
Cohen as my RB five, so I don't have to
(29:46):
consistently rely on him. So that, especially in a half PPR,
I think at the eighth round. In the eighth round,
it's a good value, all right. It is to me now,
and I'm with you, guys. I'm not picking a quarterback
until much later. I already know the exact guy I'm
to pick that Nobody else is even considering picking him,
but I'm picking him tight end. I'm probably gonna wait
as well. I might need to jump a little bit
(30:08):
ahead of Yates to make sure I get Johnny Smith
instead of him. I'm going running back or wide receiver
for a while. I don't love the wide receivers on
the board right now. Will Fuller, Christian Kirk, John Brown,
Jamison Crowder. I feel like if I wait two rounds,
I'm gonna get the same level of players. So I'm
just gonna wait. I'm gonna go out. This is the
range in the draft where I go out and I reach,
quote unquote reach for Latavius Murray. I'm not taking any
(30:28):
chances that somebody jumps ahead of me and grabs Latavious Murray.
So he's my guy. Okay, So I'm with you, Bobby.
I think you laid it out right. I think we're
just still continually looking for roster construction among running back
and wide receiver for I think still a good long while.
There are plenty of quarterback solutions who are going to
be fine. There are plenty of tight in solutions that
are going to be like diarrhea in our hands, so
we can we can wait for all of them. And
(30:49):
I'm with you also that I probably not gonna take
a receiver here. I'm gonna take a chance on a
running back, and yeah, I'll take James White. I'll just say, like,
let's let's see if it's a if it's a triple
option kind of you know, completely horizontal, almost Carolina esque
for McCaffrey's first couple of years sort of offense. So
(31:11):
just give you know, give me a hundred catches James White, please,
And in this league format, I think I take him
ahead of Sony Michelle, even if Michelle's you know, didn't
have surgery. So there you go. Now, Chris, Uh, I
know you probably don't want me to tell the whole
world this, but you are a Patriots fan. Now you're
gonna get a lot of hate, but you're a lot
closer to the situation. So I want to ask, is
(31:31):
there any chance that Damien Harris ends up being the
starting running back? If Sony Michelle just maybe he isn't
ready for the preseason because he had foot surgery in
the spring. I think they probably just don't have a
starting running back. I think, no matter what, I think,
they probably don't have a starting running back. It's probably
just a bunch of guys. Damian Harris as a prospect
never made sense on the Patriots to me because I
(31:52):
feel like he's I feel like they already had what
Damien Harris is upside might be someday, which is like
the Sony Michelle that we got as opposed to Tony
Michelle that we were promised. You know, we we thought
first round pick Sony Michelle was Alan Kamara was like
a dynamic player, and he's just he's not. He's Edgar Bennett,
you know. And I feel like kind of that's what
Damian Harris is too. So I guess I'm not excited
(32:14):
about really anybody there. Do you think the Patriots are
gonna win this year? Because everyone's talking about, hey, they've
got a chance in Trevor Lawrence, there's no way man
getting at least eight games. Sure, I mean, they're gonna
win at least six games. I mean, they're certainly. You know,
I'm not gonna be anywhere close to number one pick.
They would need to trade up, and they would probably
trade up and then take a long snapper from Rutgers.
(32:37):
I'll take a wide receiver here. Have we seen Judy go?
You know I'm not seeing Judy was taken right before you,
that picked before you. Boo. Yeah, so I'll take up
Mike Williams. That's really rough. That's what I was gonna take.
Really yeah, yeah, I mean if it's like a fair price, right,
I don't think we look at it and think wow, Mike, wait, wow,
(32:58):
Like he's a fantasy bench player, which is kind of
what he should be until we know about the Chargers
quarterback situation. It's fine, We're in the ninth round. It's fine,
all right, guys, we're gonna move on to the next
pick here in just a second. But first, talking about
erectile dysfunction isn't easy. Usually guys just brush it off
and blame themselves, saying stuff like I lost my mojo,
or they avoid it all together with excuses like I
had a long day at work or sorry, honey, I'm

you ready to be mad? Dude? Are you gonna? Are
you gonna take him? I'm taking him, man, I'm taking him,
and it's Chris's fall actually being mad at Chris. I'm
(34:21):
taking Anthony Miller. Oh I thought it was. That's fine.
That's not who I was gonna take, because Anthony Miller
I have already have David Montgomery and Treat Cohen. I'm
not loading nuck on. Yeah, I'm not happy that happy
about the Bears offense. No, the guy that I wanted
to fall it did fall. I was considering him last
round and he's still here. Jamison Crowder in the ninth round.
(34:43):
Is the he didn't go with Tyler boy last time.
I didn't. I'm actually with Yates. I like getting these
safe guys as my wide receiver three, wide receiver four
because then if no one gets hurt, I've got the
fantasy lack of points Rye. It's the it's the it's
the laxative. It's like the oh boy, Michael Gallup turned
out to be garbage, you know, right right, Jameson Crowder,
(35:04):
It's fine. Yeah, I like this, Yates. I mean, in
the stretch last year, we saw Jamison Crowder be a
consistent wide receiver, one like he was dominant obviously, then
the wheels fell off and that whole Jets offense was atrocious,
and I'm not projecting it to be any anywhere close
to good this season. But if you're looking at guys
like Denzel Mims and Bershad Perryman are his main competition
for targets and this offense, Mims with no preseason, very
(35:27):
little chance to adjust to the NFL, Bershad Perryman, I
think it's just a guy. We haven't seen anything outside
of his little stretch in Tampa Bay last year to
be confident. So Jamison Crowder could see a ton a
ton of targets this year and that's always been consistent
with Adam Gase's offense, Jarvis Landry obviously in Miami there.
So yeah, Jamison Crowder here in the ninth round, I'll
(35:48):
take that. I want to ask you about Jerry Judy
because that's the guy that you wanted. Are you pretty
excited about him this year? No, it's it's just a
good price form. It's about where I have. Okay, Okay,
I'm okay. I really love Sutton as a player. I
don't think there's a great, huge, giant duplication of effort
between Judy and Sutton. I think in a functional offense
that supports two fantasy receivers, they're actually pretty complimentary and
(36:09):
they could both be pretty good. It would have been
a fair price for him. All right, Yate, it's back
to you man. Tenth round. Is this where you finally
go tight end or quarterback? No, I'm going to continue
to load up on wide receivers because this is why
I went with terk Cohen. Where I did was because
I didn't like any of the wide receivers there, and
I like some of the wide receivers that are on
the board right now. I'm looking at guys like Jalen Raiger,
(36:31):
Deshaun Jackson, Robbie Anderson. These are all guys that I'm
pretty high on. If we're talking about Philadelphia and the potential,
I mean, Alshan Jeffrey's not starting the season. J j
Arthaka Whiteside looks like he's going to be the starting
X receiver, and he showed us nothing last year that
he was going to be competent or demand a ton
of targets. Jalen Rager could be a star immediately out
(36:51):
of the gate, and he's sitting here in the tenth round. However,
looking at my roster, I want the big play. I
want the guy right now. This is where I start
to take my shots, and these guys with incredible upside
and DeShawn Jackson's fully healthy again, Guys, I'm taking him
here and his potential in this offense is incredible. If
I can start him as my flex, I'm happy with that.
Otherwise you can just sit on my bench. I mean,
(37:12):
I'll just say I think Ragor has every bit of
the big play upside Deshan Jackson does. Yeah, no, it was.
It was a very tough for me. It was a
decision for me as far as like which one to
take between Deshn Jackson or Jalen Ragor. The lack of
a preseason maybe it's completely defensible. I just want people
to realize that rag Speed is what he's being drafted for.
He's essentially the Deshan Jackson replacement at some point. But
(37:33):
I think your your point is really super well made.
I get I get what you're saying the same exact
thought process for me Yates two weeks ago, I would
have taken Ragor over Deshn Jackson. But at this point
Deshun Jackson was the number one wide receiver on my board.
Sammy Watkins was the number two, and he just went, um,
now it's back to me. I wasn't going to take
a wide receiver. I was going to take funny talk
about diarrhea in the hands. What Sammy Watkins? Yeah, I mean,
(37:56):
I mean, I'm not saying Sammy Watkins in the tenth round,
but totally agree. Of course, seventy percent chance it's a
wasted pick. But then again, maybe I've got something that's
what you do in the tenth round, And I'm going
with a guy who's like eighty five percent, eighty percent
chance it's a wasted pick. But if he's not a
wasted pick. If if Zeke was to get injured, Tony Pollard,
(38:17):
I would imagine, if you look at their depth chart,
it is gross. I would imagine Tony Pollard is gonna
get a ton of work beyond a great offensive line
in a very good offense. So I'm taking Tony Pollard
here over Alexander Madison. He's my favorite backup besides Latavius Murray.
I mean, Dallas just cut Jordan Chun the other day too.
So they're literally going into camp with Zeke, Tony Pollard
and I think Ola Walley I think is their fullback
(38:38):
and that's going to be their running back room. So
if you're talking about a guy who could, you know
he's gonna inherit that entire workload. If Zeke goes down,
that's a fine pick here. I'm interested in just one
of these running backs, like did carry On Johnson go already?
He was taken. He was taken at the turn. We
had Brida go, we had Jordan Howard go right, yea,
I assume. Yeah, those guys are gone. Top running backs
(39:00):
aboard Madison, Daryl Henderson, Duke Johnson, Zach Moss. You know,
I'll go with somebody who I think people have been
mocking me for liking. But and I bet he's not
even close. But I'll hit the button and then you
guys can laugh at me. It better not be my guy.
I'm gonna be furious if it's my guy. Oh okay, no, no, no,
I'm not I'm not gonna laugh at you, But I'm
(39:21):
very curious about this one. So why do you like him? So?
I mean, you know, it's it's Darry Okinbowalle. And the
reason I like him is entirely because I just took
James White and Tom Brady has a pretty good history
with Wisconsin running backs who can't run at all. I
grant you, I don't need to take him in the
tenth round probably, but he was the next highest running
back in my PPR ranks, because you know, if we're
(39:41):
gonna make the argument about Jalen Reagor not being able
to which was is fair, then we could make the
same argument about Keshan Vaughan and then cool, I'll get
my James White targets from Oginboala as a as a backup,
as a bye week sort of feeling kind of player.
All right, So it's back to you for round eleven.
And I'm like super nervous that you're gonna take my
guy because he's a must have for me. Really, So
(40:01):
it's John O I guess, Oh no, no, it's not
John who quite yet. No, I probably shouldn't have said
that because now Yates is gonna take him. But it's
all right, Let's see, I can't really see all the players,
so I'll just say, did nahem Hines go? Hines is
still out there. He's all yours, all right, So I'll
take Hines. At this point, clearly the thought is I'm
now filling in with PPR guys, with you know, some
(40:24):
upside potential guys. I love the Yates pick of Tarikohen.
I thought that was incredible value in this league format
because I think the Bears will realize part of what
they did wrong last year was not used Cohen enough.
I'm trying to imitate that sort of value. Just trying
to find some some PPR guys. All right, So I
get my guy. It's Justin Jackson. Chris, you've watched all
the tape. Do you agree that Justin Jackson is just awesome? No?
(40:48):
You don't. Oh no, I was really hoping you were
gonna be on my side. Man. I mean, I don't
think it's a bad pick at all. I think he's
kind of like Eckler light. I think he's he's much
more sad light back then. He has any kind of
real you know, between the tackles, banger or anything. He's
a good player. I actually think that if you switched
uniforms between Jackson and Eckler, people wouldn't notice that much.
(41:11):
And it's funny that Eckler is considered Sacha Sauch a
better fantasy player because of the track record. I think
it's worth taking a chance on him. Do you think
there's a chance that Justin Jackson kind of fills in
Melvin Gordon's touches or that they're all going to Eckler.
I think there's a chance his touches go up. But no,
I don't think he's a feature back. I don't think
it'll work. I think they have to get something out
of the kid Kelly, and then like, let's see, and
(41:33):
Latavius Murray's not on that team, right, I'm not going
to forget that where Lettavius Murray's playing like three years ago. No,
you know, I have to be honest. I think I'm
sort of worried about that running back room because if
Kelly camp run between the tackles, then I don't think
they have anybody who can. All right, Yates, it's to you.
You took a couple of wide receivers back to back,
or you going back to the running back position, or
is this where you begin to go quarterback tight end dst. Yeah,
(41:55):
I'm going to start to look at these guys for
my starting quarterback, my starting tight end defense. I won't
take until the last round. So Carson Wentz still here
on the board, and we saw what he can do
even without you know, the weapons last year. Now he
gets Jalen Rager, he gets Deshaun Jackson back healthy, Dallas
s Gooddard was dealing with a calf issue I think
last year too, so he wasn't even fully healthy. So
(42:17):
we've seen that he can be a dominant fantasy quarterback
even without those weapons. Now that you get the ball,
you know scheme touches like, just get the ball in
Jalen Rager's hands and he'll create those yards for Carson Wentz.
So yeah, him here in the eleventh round to me
on my starting quarterback, I feel pretty good about. I
was gonna take Carson Wentz on the way back around,
had to get Justin Jackson first. He was the last
(42:38):
of that tier of quarterbacks I'd feel decent about. But
I'm just gonna be streaming the position anyway, So I'm
gonna wait until the last round. Now, a bunch of
backup running backs came off the board, third dst, the
Ravens came off the board, Grant came off the board.
Now it's back two yates for round twelve. Yeah, I'm
not messing around here. I'm gonna get john Y Smith. Obviously,
it's well documented that I like him. Unmith draft has
(43:02):
been mentioned several times during this draft. So, yeah, Johnny
Smith here in the twelfth round. You know, at this point,
I've talked about it. I think Johnny Smith has incredible
upside this year. But we're also not drafting him as
a top ten, you know, or top six tight end.
You know, We're drafting him here in the twelfth round.
So even if I'm wrong, even if I you know,
just completely with on the fact that Johnny Smith could
(43:22):
break out this year, It's it's not that huge of
a deal, right, It's not that big of a deal.
Because I'm getting him here in the twelfth round. I
can then, you know, adjust, and I can pick up
someone like a Jack Doyle off the waiver wire or
something like that. So yeah, Johnny Smith here, twelfth round.
I'll take it. Chris, can we get you on the
record saying what you think about Johnny Smith? This year.
I think he belongs to that class of tight ends
who we have no idea if they're good, but they
(43:43):
certainly have a lot of athletic potential. And if you
want to take that sort of last few starting tight
end chants on him, it's fine. I would feel the
same about Hackinson or fant or Ian Thomas, like I've
you know, they're all gasicky. I feel like they're all
kind of in the same boat of sure. I think
what Kyle said is right and doesn't really the investment
just doesn't matter that much, all right, guys, um man,
(44:04):
this is really difficult. I just out on Adrian Peterson.
Oh yeah, he's almost got two thousand rushing yards in
the last two years. I don't think a lot of
people realize that. But obviously I'm not drafted him. Chase
Edmonds is a guy that I would have liked to
get the clear cutback up in that high paced off
like you know, Benjamin, Kay, it's too early, but I
(44:25):
just as a prospect, I like him. I'm interested in
the longer term whether Benjamin might be like a better
version of Edmonds. You're right, it's you know, it's rookie times.
I like Austin Hooper here, But I'm just gonna wait
at the tight end position wide receiver. The guy that
I want is not going to go for a couple
of rounds, So I'm just gonna go out and get
who I think it is, the best backup running back left.
If anything were to happen to Derrick Henry, sign me
(44:45):
up for all the Darrington Evans shares and I'll probably
end up cutting him within two or three weeks. But
I'll take that five percent chance that I've got myself
a fringe RB one. Yeah. Probably, he wouldn't be a
fringe RB one even if Derrick Henry like decided to
go You don't think so, if you like opted out
for the season, where would you draft Darrington Evans? No, No,
(45:06):
Dereck Henry himself is completely overrated in this offense. The
offense isn't that good. Like the offense was the number
one scoring offense in football once Ryan Tannehill took over.
That's eleven week sample size. Yeah, good luck. All I
can say, all right, I'm all over the Titans this year.
Everybody knows that, all right, So Chris, it's you're picking
round twelve. Did Darryl Henderson, go Darrell Henderson is, uh,
(45:28):
it looks like he's taken. Yeah, he was taking. Yeah,
I think that would have been a pretty good pick
right there. I'm less sanguine about Malcolm Brown, but it's
sort of the same, almost the same theory. It's just
in a PF's out there, Joshua Kelly's out there if
you're talking about him getting touch. Is Damien Harris your
Patriots guy? Oh yeah, no, I'm all over it. It's
just the best, really, it's really just the best. I'll
(45:49):
take Drew Brees. What the hell? I did take a quarterback?
How about that? And you know, I just I know
what I'm gonna get. I assume the cliff isn't quite
here yet. So it's a fourteen round. Yep, that's right,
So DST. You still need a DST. And let's see,
did you get your tight end and a tight end? Oh? Good? Yeah, okay,
well then I will take Yeah that was amazing, good
(46:10):
well done by me for not knowing the format. So
the next best tight end? So I do have to
take a tight end or a defense. So I'm gonna
take a tight end. And my next best tight end
would probably be I think I want to take it.
I liked exactly what Kyle said about just take one
of the athletes, take one of the freaks. I'll take Hawkinson.
I know there's a big question about whether he's even ready,
(46:30):
but if we're gonna draft on July thirtieth, then I'm
just gonna take a player who I like and cut
him Hawkinson. If we could just have gotten Week one
out of Hawkinson, the Arizona game, and then spread that
over the whole season, we'd think he was awesome. Right,
he wasn't awesome after that, and I don't think it
was because he was hurt. But I you know, there's
just so many close opportunities. Lions fans will try to
(46:51):
vaguely not remember the twenty nineteen season, but if they,
if they forced themselves, that they can remember, like goal
line drops or places where he should scored and didn't,
or a bad throw when he was opening before he
got hurt. So there's an argument for five or six
high upside tight ends here, but I'll take Hawkinson. I
think that a pretty high end upside. All right, So
it's back to me. I still don't have a quarterback,
(47:13):
I still don't have a defense. I still don't have
a tight end, and there's only two rounds left, so
I think it's clear I'm not drafting a defense. And
what's going to happen is if Derrick Henry doesn't get hurt,
I'm just gonna cut Darrington Evans and I'll pick up
my defense. I'm streaming anyway, so I might as well
wait until right before a kickoff, and you just wait
these three or four weeks and see what happens. It
seems like you don't have to You don't have to
(47:34):
take a defense. If you don't have to take a defense. Now,
this is something I always do with kicker, I sometimes
do with defense. I might even do it with quarterback
in this draft because the guy that I want to stream,
he's gonna be there right before Week one kickoff. I
just want as many lottery if I'm drafting early, I
want as many lottery tickets as possible because every preseason
some starting running back goes down. Last year it was
(47:54):
Lamar Miller. We've seen it before with Spencer wear and
then Kareem Hunt took over. And if you've got their
back up running back, if it's the right situation, remember
D'Angelo Williams was the RB one after Leavm Bell went down.
James Connor was RB seven, Kareem Hunt was RB three.
This kind of stuff happens, So I'm gonna go ahead
and get my tight end first, just because I don't
think he's gonna be there too much longer. It's Austin Hooper.
(48:15):
Don't love him, but you know, the Brown did go
out and give him the biggest contract for a tight
end in football. He got ninety seven targets last year
in thirteen games. He delivered. It seems like he's always delivered.
He's a quality fringe tight end one, and I guess
that's the way I'll roll. So it's back to Yates.
Which way you're going? Yeah, dang it. I wanted Michael
(48:35):
Pittman and he went at the thirteen oh two. I
thought he was I thought for sure he was going
to be there. So I've got one bench spot left,
and I've got one defense so or my defense spot
to Phil. So I'm just looking at a guy who
could potentially break out, right, Bobby talked about it, These
guys that something breaks their way, and I've got a
you know, I've got a fantasy option here, so I'm
(48:56):
looking at two running backs. Josh Kelly is still available.
I obviously am on the side that thinks that, you know,
like Chris said that Justin Jackson's the satellite back. He's
nothing more than a change of pace. This guy that
you give, you know, minimal touches too. He could be
incredibly efficient with them. But yet I don't think he's
going to be the guy that carries the ball over
two hundred times. Josh Kelly absolutely could be that guy.
(49:16):
I loved his tape at UCLA. And then Carlos Hide.
I mean it's gross, but Carlos Hide is going to
be a starter for the first couple weeks of the season.
If Chris Carson isn't, you know, he's gonna be involved.
He's gonna get touches. So if something happens to one
of these guys in you know, maybe Clyde Edwards, Hilaire
Kenny and Drake, you know, these other running backs that
have got ahead of him, I know that I can
rely on Carlos Hide and then work the waiver wire.
(49:39):
So four seconds, I'm going to take Josh Kelly, though,
I'm going to take him because I think he can
be that starter long term. He's someone who impressed me
with his ability to carry the ball between the tackles.
I think he can be a good fit in this
offense and they need him. I'm an idiot actually have
taken Tom Brady instead of Austin Hooper. Come on, so
(49:59):
are taking the Eagles? I'm taking the Eagles here because
of their starting They're starting. You know, there's a schedule.
I mean, if you're if you're streaming DST, you go
out and you get the guy who gets Dwayne Haskins
in week one, Jared Goff in week two, Joe Burrow
on week three, Jimmy garoppoloin week four, and Big Ben
week especially when you factor in their defensive line and
then the addition of Darius Slay. This is a defense
(50:20):
that I really like. So I am going to take
him here. I'll play this game. I'll let Bobby do
the you know this streaming or the dart throw, which
I do like. I do like that approach, but for
this draft, I will take a defense. You know what,
Tyrod Taylor's my quarterback just because of the opening schedule. Look,
if I'm if I'm doing week one rankings right now,
I'm putting Tyrod Taylor in my top twelve quarterbacks going
(50:41):
up against Cincinnati, and I'm streaming the position, so why
would I not pick him. He's got the best weapons
he's ever had. He's been a QB one before he
gets Cincinnati in Week one. He's not been a QB
one before. What he's not been a QB one before?
When was he ever a QB one in Buffalo? Let
me pull it up there, here's a borderline QB one.
All right, hold on a second before I make my pick.
Tyrod Taylor going all the way down. He was in
(51:04):
twenty sixteen QB eight in Fantasy football in twenty sixteen.
I like. I like the pick of Tyrod Taylor, especially
when you factor in his Week one starting. I'm not
I'm not streaming him. He's streaming. I'm streaming him, but
I'm actually not gonna stream Tyrod Taylor. I'm gonna stream
Cam Newton against the Miami Dolphins just in case we
have something big here. Um, if we get a healthy
Cam Newton, I have no idea what Bell Beljick's gonna
(51:25):
do with him, but I'm gonna take my chance here. Now.
I like Matt Stafford better I like Ryan Tannehill better,
and I know that Chris is cringing because he doesn't
like Tannehill. I love Tannehill, but he goes up in
his Denver in week one. Matthew Stafford in week one
gets the Chicago Bears. I'm not starting either of them.
Here's the thing, I'm so glad you've already decided which
teams are good this year. Why don't we play the season?
I mean, are you just gonna go completely blind and
(51:47):
just must have any I just assume maybe Washington's eight
and eight, maybe the Saints are eight and eight. I mean,
I think that it's fair to say that some teams
are likely better than other teams. Right, we are terrible
at predicting which teams are gonna better. I mean, we
shouldn't try, because we tend to We're bad at it.
Take good player, I mean taking Cam Newton over Tyrod Taylor,
good job. I agree with you. Good nice pick. I'm
not criticizing the pick. I'm just saying to then completely
(52:10):
redo your ranks. In Week one. Last year, we didn't
think the Ravens were good and we thought the Rams
were great. Like it happens every single year, we're we're
we're more than three games off the Vegas win total
on more than a third of the league every single year.
It's never happened. Then that's totally fair, But we tend
to be closer on teams than if we were just
say they're all eight and eight. It's also like a
(52:33):
lot of that. The fact that the win totals are
off is because of key injuries, Like these guys get injured.
So we can sit here and we can project that
if everyone stays healthy the full year, Denver's defense is
going to be great because it's got guys like von Miller, Right,
but there's not you know, there's noise. You know there's
already gonna but not noise in Week one when Cam
Newton's going up against the Dolphins. Cam Newton's such a
(52:55):
good pick anyway, Cam Newtons because Camdon is a good player.
I don't want t Taylor screwing me in week one
because it turned out he's awful, which he is throwing
the football. He's awful, all right. So I'm I'm gonna
follow the Bobby method though of not taking a defense here,
and I'll just do that because I don't know, I
don't know who'd who'd you go with? Does it say
(53:16):
it just went to my draft grade? It's DeAndre Washington, okay,
because I don't know, because you know it's I think
Edwards Hilaire should be a borderline first round pick, but
you know, with no Damian Williams, I don't know. I
don't you know. I think Darwin Thompson is draftable in
a sixteen sixteen round draft. I think probably I'm not
(53:36):
gonna draft Daryl Williams, but I don't know. How do
you think of that hot take? Like in a if
this has been a sixteen round draft, do you guys
think that both Darwin Thompson and DeAndre Washington should have
been drafted? I definitely think so. I'm not sure which
one it's going to be. I don't know if they're
gonna go out and sign in r Miller Devanta Freeman,
but as of right now, I think both should be
draft in a sixteen round draft. Yeah, so we've got
(53:58):
the draft grades. It goes at the very top number one.
I finished number five and Yates came in after me.
So all I did was all I did was like
Billy Helps that Nick Chobb fell to you at two eighty,
no doubt about it. So I'm gonna read through the
teams here really quick, and Chris, I'm gonna read three
(54:18):
years first, you got first place. You tell me what
you think about your team, maybe what you would have
done different you went. Alvin Kamara, Nick Chubb, Amari Cooper,
Melvin Gordon, Stefon Diggs, Braining Cooks. I love the Diggs
and Cooks picks, Darius Guys, James White, Mike Williams, Dare
for the Bucks, Nahim Hines, Breeze Hawkinson, and DeAndre Washington.
(54:38):
How do you feel about your team? I feel like
I took a lot of running backs and probably should
have taken another wide receiver. I have three essential non
running back running backs between Ogn Walle, James White, and
Naim Hines. They're all kind of same player. I think
probably one of them will pop, and I'll be happy
that I took him in the way that Yates took
Terry Cohen, which I would have preferred to any of
(54:59):
those guys, frankly, but having three of them probably is
just unnecessary. But there are just there are so many
wide receivers that, as the need arise, I probably feel
fine about the idea, but being be able to add
someone if and when, you know, for example, people think
Cooks is going to get hurt. You know, if if
Cooks is hurt, I'm going to have to do something.
Mike Williams is fine as a plug in, but I
don't think I only have four wide receivers. That was
(55:20):
probably not the best. So Yates, you finished in third
of the group. Now, I think that you would have
beat me if well the Clyde Edwards Hilaarre News. You know,
Damian Williams dropped yesterday, and so we've got one hundred
and nine people in the system who have put in
their rankings and not every single one of them has updated.
I think it's about half have updated since that News dropped,
and so Hilaire is ranked a little bit lower. I
(55:42):
think that hurt. You're great a little bit, quite a
bit actually, but here's your team. Actually, why don't you
go ahead and read it for us? Yeah? For sure.
So I went in, like I said, no matter what.
In the first round, Kenyan Drake, DJ Moore, Calvin Ridley,
David Montgomery, Jarvis Landry, JK. Dabbs, Tarik Cohen, Jamison Crowder,
De Shawn Jackson, Carson Wentz as my quarterback, Johnny Smith
(56:05):
is my starting tight end, then Josh Kelly, and then
I did pick up the Eagles defense in the last round. There,
all right, and here's my team first first though, what
do you think, Yates? How do you feel about your team?
What would you have done differently? I love this team.
I mean, there are a lot of guys that I
have identified that are high, like I'm higher on than
you know, the industry. So and you got a lot
of them, Ridley Montgomery. Sure, for sure, for sure those
(56:27):
are my you know, my guys. So I'm going to
go into a draft and make sure that I get them.
So yeah, with Johnny Smith and Deshan Jackson, like, those
are guys that I'm significantly higher on than the rest
of the industry. So I'm obviously very happy with this draft.
So I did a kind of screwery strategy. I don't
typically do something like this where I go no running
backs in the first two rounds, but I got Michael
Thomas and Travis Kelsey, so I wanted to try it out.
(56:47):
And I don't love the way that the team ended up,
because yeah, I got Todd Gurle in the third. That's fine,
but he's my RB one, and I like where he moster,
but he's my RB two. Ronald Jones is my RB three.
That's gross guys, Latavious Murray, Tony Pollard, Justin Jackson, Darrington Evans.
I'm hoping to strike gold with one of the four.
Probably not going to happen, but you take your chances.
(57:08):
Upside wins championships in fantasy football. My wide receivers behind
Michael Thomas are Keenan Allen, Tara McLaurin, Anthony Miller. That's it.
Only drafted four of them. I feel like that was
a mistake. And then I went out and got Austin
Hooper and Cam Newton is my tight ending quarterback. Don't
love this team, but that's why you do the mock drafts.
You live and you learn. Chris, you got first place. Congratulations.
(57:31):
I was gonna. I was ready to disavow the results
when I get first place, So now I totally accept them.
I absolutely think that this, this metric of who's good
at this is right. So I will say just it
is useful to see what you know. You were picking
mid round, right, so you're picking you were picking that
spot where the running backs make you a little you know,
(57:52):
a little they're they're they're good. There's a chance they're good.
Joe Mixon is good, there's a chance. Whatever. But you
can see your way to taking Michael Thomas. But it's
it was really illustrative for me to see your team
almost more than my team, to see that it does
sort of go you know, you could see Ronald Jones
having an okay year, that it could be a totally
different Tampa offense. It might really rely on Ronald Jones,
so you might wind up looking great. But are we
(58:13):
all betting on it because do we think he's special? Like? So,
it was really illustrative to see the running backs that
you wound up with and make me go, boy, maybe
maybe the lesson isn't so much don't take Michael Thomas
in the first round, but if you do take Michael Thomas,
take a running back in the second right, Travis Kelsey
felt him I had to do it, but at the
same time, I should have gotten looking back if I
(58:34):
hear you were option instead of Kelsey, and then I went, wait,
wait a second, i'man idiot. So I took Kelsey and
I was like, oh, I gotta get Austin Hooper later
because I don't have a tight end yet. Attention now,
when you're hosting a podcast, it's a little bit different,
but it is. I was like, man, why didn't I
get a wide receiver? Five? Like I didn't pick that
many running backs. It's because I took Kelsey and Hooper
like a big fool. Well, okay, I'll trade for Hooper.
(58:56):
You can have Daria uncable nothings. But yeah, if I
would have had Chob instead of Kelsey, or if I
would have had Kmarra instead of Thomas, I would feel
so much better about my team. Right. And I want
