Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome in, Friends of Fantasy Pros. This is the Fantasy
Football Podcast. I'm Chris Welsh, Pat Fitzmorris, Andrew Erickson. Quarterbacks,
tight ends, we got them for you. We are going
to be going through the top twelve, the starters, and
maybe a few more on both of these positions. For
Week fourteen. We got the full breakdowns. Whether it is
going to be streaming. There's actually quite a few really
(00:21):
interesting discussion points at quarterbacks fits, like in the eight
to twelve range, which in the world of quarterbacks, that
does start to justify some of the streamers. There's going
to be some tough decisions people are making, but we
also had, you know, a couple of nice re editions.
Joe Burrow is back, but I think the back end
of quarterback is going to be highly discussed this week.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Who would have thought before the season, Welsh, that Lamar
Jackson versus Jacoby Brissett might get a debate we're having
in Week fourteen.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
That is literally the debate that's going to be. Yeah,
I mean, like to that point, it's like, who would
have thought that Lamar Jackson would be as big of
a question The market ericson it's relatively chalk. We do
also have a new name, Brenton Strange. Actually, just as
a preview, is going to fly up boards for this week.
But the back end of tight end is continuously becoming
(01:14):
a little bit of a question, and you are one
hundred percent going to travel back down a road the
last tight end we're going to talk about in this show.
We're going to travel back down the road of dicey
tight ends, which I don't like to do. And you're
going to try to bring Darren Waller back.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Just as a preview, he is facing the Jets and
he was checking out tight end two the last time
you face the Jets, so I think this was the layup.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
All right, Well, well we'll get into all of those
before we do start. It's giveaway time. We've partnered with

(02:21):
positional from defense and you can even go further into
like season long stuff with Dynasty, but you can follow
long at fantasypros dot com slash rankings. Let's look at quarterbacks.
Our top twelve quarterbacks for the week on the Big
Board starts with Josh Allen going against the Cincinnati Bengals
at one, Dak Prescott at two, Matthew Stafford, Jalen Hurts,
Jared Goff, Joe Burrow. That's your top six bottom half,
(02:45):
Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, Jacoby Brissett, Jordan Love
and Bo Nicks. Now, before we started the episode a
couple hours ago, Lamar Jackson was actually a spot lower,
and he was low Baker Mayfield and he was right
next to Jacoby Brissette. He had moved up one spot
that as the rankings will kind of adjust here he
(03:07):
is ECR eight. He doesn't look healthy. This offense doesn't
look healthy, and there is going to be a barrage
of people that started last week that are saying, should
I even bother starting Lamar Jackson. Now he's going up
against Pittsburgh's defense, which is a little toast right now
QB eight. Fitz has got him at eight, but Ericson,
(03:28):
you've got him at six. So let's start with you. Ericson,
you are even higher. You not worried about him not rushing,
not worried about the offense being putrid. You are going
in and saying this is a Lamar Jackson week.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yes I am. He was one of my predictions this week.
He's gonna be a QB one. He's going to score
more than ten Fantasy points this week. That is one
of my Bowl predictions for Lamar Jackson, because yeah, it's
been really.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Tough variable for him.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
But look the injuries aside, because we all kind of
can acknowledge that doesn't look nearly as healthy. It's not
a lack of rushing attempts, like he's still running six
or seven times per game. But I'm I'm not trying
to play doctor here, especially when he has ten days off,
so this is the longest extended rest that he's had.
He was playing with an injury against the Jets. Then
(04:09):
he comes back short week, okay, doesn't have much time
to rest, has to play the Bengals again, doesn't play
necessarily super great, But aside from that, he's really kind
of running in like this one percent tel type of
outcome where he doesn't have just one passing touchdown last,
but he has two passing touchdowns that get called off
because Isaiah likely fumbles at the one yard line, and
Zay Flowers has a thirty five yard touchdown that's called
(04:30):
back on offensive pass interference. So if those actually end
up being touchdowns, are we as freaked out about Lamar Jackson?
Probably not so. I think everything's kind of being a
tad bit overblown with right, this guy's garbage, Jacoby were
set against the Rams. He's a much better Like I'm
not there yet, and if you disagree with me, that's
totally fine. Willing to take the out when we talk
(04:51):
about Lamar Jackson next week with Jacobey Prissett throws for
three hundred yards on fifty drop backs like he does
every single week, but something that gets lost in the
sauce is he threw for two hundred and forty six
passing yards last week. That was his second highest passing
yards total of the season. And if that Zay Flowers
touchdown converts, well, he's almost matching his season high for
passing yards. But nobody's talking about that. Are we just
(05:13):
talking about? Oh, what was me? Lamar Jackson, He's trash now.
I think that he bounces back here again. I'm betting
against the Steelers in this situation. I want to bet
on the Ravens offense to bounce back in a spot
where the Steelers defense is kind of reeling right now,
not right against really anything they can't get out of
their own way. Twenty six and passing touchdown rate allowed.
I think Lamar Jackson can throw two touchdowns in this game.
(05:35):
Ten days off. I think this is the healthiest we
see Lamar Jackson since he came back from that hamstring
injury originally. So I'm back in again. I'm still being
kind of modest with my projection of him in ranking
I still have in QB six, So you're still starting
all the other elite options who have been more consistent
producers over the last month or so, but I'm not
(05:56):
going to the waiver wire to replace Lamar Jackson this week.
That's just how I'm playing it.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
We've kind of had a theme of like these Titanic
players and if you've only listened to this episode, not
the others, these players that you're just going to go
down the ship with. In the Wide Receiver episode, it
was kind of justin Jefferson and going down with the ship.
In the Running Back episode, it's kind of the Saquon
Barkley situation. You're kind of going down with the ship
regardless of what's being played and not trying to be
cute with it. Lamar Jackson is kind of the tryad here,
(06:24):
the third piece of our Titanic here, where it's just
like it's hard to not go down with the ship
and to get too cute with the with the streaming quarterbacks,
but fits maybe you can tell us different. I mean,
it is not. It doesn't take a doesn't take an
analyst to just look at Lamar Jackson and be like,
this is not right and things don't seem well. So
you understand why people are going to be asking a
(06:44):
lot of questions about streaming, But are you going to
Titanic with him, based on your rank, which is ECR
or do you have a lot more more pessimistic view
on Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
No, I'm going to Titanic with him. Well, I will
play on the deck, play my trombone on the deck
while the ship goes down. If it goes down, he
could absolutely snap out of it this week with a
big game against the Steelers at home. But man, things
have not looked good lately. Erickson's right to point out
that he could have had a couple touchdown passes, but
(07:15):
instead he's gone three straight games without one, and Lamar
hasn't run for a touchdown since Week one. Over the
last four weeks, he's QB thirty one in Fantasy points
per game. It has been ugly. But no, I'm not
starting Jacoby Brissette over him. I'm not starting Trevor Lawrence
over him, not starting Baker Mayfield over him, and Baker
Mayfield's kind of been in a slump himself. So look,
(07:38):
I don't think he looks that unhealthy. And maybe the
extra ten the ten days rest, nine days rest, whatever
it is, that's going to help. But like, I think
he looks healthier than Daniel Jones. So I think the
Lamar Jackson we know in Love is still there somewhere
and maybe we'll see him and we fourteen. But I
(08:01):
just I don't think it's going to keep going this
badly for Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
A quarterback that falls just outside of the top twelve
here but not in your guys' ranks is Justin Herbert. Now,
Justin Herbert had like a fractured bone in his non
throwing hand. He had surgery on it, but he expects
to play, which is I don't know, a little bit
of a surprise across the board. He comes in at
ECR thirteen. You guys both have him at twelve and eleven, respectively,
(08:28):
which is right in that range where Jacoby Brissett, Jordan Love,
bo Nicks is at Love and Nis maybe specifically have
like really good matchups fits. Why don't we start with you?
What do you think about Justin Herbert. I'm a little
tiny bit worried with that fractured that they want to
maybe lean on running the ball a tiny bit more
taking the ball out of his hand. But you tell
me you've got him as a QB one this week?
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah, I mean, or do they want to lean on
him running the ball, because like he was having trouble
with handoffs last week. I think he was using his
opposite hand to hand the ball off. It was just
kind of weird, and they were putting him in a
lot of like shotgun and not playing him at all
under center. And I'm still really worried about his offensive line.
(09:11):
And the Eagles are not the easiest matchup. They've allowed
the fourth lowest opponent passer rating this season. They've only
given up twelve touchdown passes. Only the Broncos have allowed fewer.
So I liked it much more Welsh when I was
a little behind ECR with Justin Herbert, and now I'm
ahead of ECR, and I'm not sure that's where I
want to be. I'm very nervous about him.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Erickson, you are, I think, give him at eleven, so
you got him a tiny bit higher. Are you nervous
at all about Herbert?
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Yes, I am extremely nervous about Justin Herbert. I'm probably
going to move him down closer to ECR. I don't
feel confident just starting him, and I don't think anybody
really knows what's going to happen with Justin Herbert. In
this offense. I think that conventional thinking would assume that
we got to protect our quarterback. Let's run the ball
against a teamage got absolutely destroyed by two Bears running
(10:02):
backs last week in their own house. I think Greg Roman,
I know this year has been much more of a
pass happy approach with this Chargers offense. But we know
Greg Roman. He likes to run the football when the
opportunity arises, Omaron Hampton back in the lineup. We have
one guy, we're so banged up everywhere on offense. Let's
get the one guy we have that's fresh off of
(10:24):
his injury. Let's get O'maron Hampton going protect our quarterback
run the football. What are the Eagles so terrible against
play action? You have to make things easier for Justin Herbert.
You need to slow down this pass rush. How do
you do that? You have to establish to run in
some way, shape or form. So I think that I
think they have to lean on the run a little
bit more. So. That's going to take pass attempts out
of the offense. And I don't think we're going to
(10:44):
see a lot of the design rushes for Justin Herbert.
I mean, he's playing with a broken hand right, I
don't think they want to expose him to more hits.
So although Herbert has been a monster for Fantasy this
year for the most part, because he's throwing a ton
and he's also adding value with his legs, similar to
Daniel Jones. We see him in his first game back
from his injury or his injury announcement, and he has
one carry. Like so Herbert, I'm just going to probably
(11:05):
just ride with where ECR has him because I think
there's a lot of outcomes where this just doesn't work
out well, and I think you're probably trying to again
with Lamar Jacks. I'm not going to the waiver wire,
I think this week. I think I'm just too afraid
to start. Justin herberting at the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Is there any fear with Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones is
ECR fourteen also dealing with some injuries that you've got
him at eighteen, Ericson, you've got him at fifteen. He's
going up against the Jags presumably could seem like a
decent matchup, but he's not ranked very high and you
guys are both ranking him outside, So you or more
comfortable with Herbert over him ericson why don't we start
(11:41):
with you? You're a little bit more optimistic about Daniel Jones,
but you're still lower than ECR.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Yeah, probably another quarterback. I probably have to move down
just because I'm I think I'm lagging behind the ECR.
With Daniel Jones, it's just about he's probably going to
attempt a decent amount of passes in this game. Like really,
that's like the upside case with him, because you know,
the Jaguars are one of the pass funnel defenses number
one pass rate face this season. Now does that change
with Daniel Jones. He's baling an injury. Obviously, the Colts
(12:08):
want to establish a run with Jonathan Taylor, so maybe
that's more of the game plan. But Daniel Jones has
kind of been in that sixteen to seventeen point range
over four straight weeks QB thirteen to seventeen range, so
he's kind of been on that fringe of outside the
QB one territory mid range QB two four teams are
on bye week, so that's kind of where I've settled
on him as that QB thirteen to seventeen range. But
(12:29):
like I mentioned before, just one carry against the Houston Texans,
they actually had Tyler Warren and they're doing the tush pushing,
so we don't even get bailed out by like a
potential rushing touchdown with Daniel Jones. So I think that
he's another quarterback where I don't think he's the guy
that you want to go for on waivers this week
or someone that you're feeling confident starting, even if he
has a lot of passing volume. I think that's more indicative. Okay,
(12:53):
the Colts receivers have a chance to be successful in
this game, whether it's Pittman or Alec Pierce, Tyler Warren
of course, but for him, he needs to be really
efficient and he has to do without the rushing equity,
which is a tough bet to make with Daniel Jones
battling this injury. So he's another player that I've got
to move closer to where fits has ranked.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Yeah, FITZI, you actually kind of you off handedly had
mentioned like your uncomfortability with Daniel Jones and you're really
burying him here at eighteen. He is a no go
for you this week.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Yep, he's hurt, he's got this fibular fracture and seventeen
rushing yards in his last two games, and it seems
like maybe they're trying to protect him. He's only averaged
twenty eight pass attempts over his last three games, so
I don't know if they wind up throwing a lot
against this pass funnel defense or if they think that's
(13:42):
just too risky, because really, things were going south for
Daniel Jones even before the injury. Maybe not so so
much in fantasy, but just as far as turnovers, fumbles, interception, sacks,
all of those things were starting to go bad with
Daniel Jones. So maybe that sort of influences the play
calling with Shane Steichen and he just figures the way
(14:03):
to kind of avoid the worst of this is to
run the ball, even though the Jaguars are much better
against the run than they are against the pass on defense.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
All right, let's go to tight ends. Those are our quarterbacks.
You want to check more quarterbacks, obviously, go to Fantasy
ros dot complace rankings our top twelve tight ends.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
For the week.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Looking at the big board, we've got Trey McBride coming
in at number one. Nothing crazy. At the top end
of this brock Bowers at number two, Tyler Warren at three,
Travis Kelsey comes in at four, and Brinton Strange at five,
Jake Ferguson at six. Our bottom half here is Kyle Pitts,
Mark Andrews, Duwan Johnson, Aronde, Gadsten, Harold Fannon, and Colston Lovelin.
I got to ask you, guys, we didn't originally have
this on the sheet, but I need to get your
(14:41):
take on Britain Strange and not only where you have him,
but are you buying this? This is a very highly
aggressive rank on a guy that just returned. Obviously, this
is a good matchup against the Colts. He's above Jake Ferguson,
He's above Kyle Pitts, right below Kelsey. Here, we do
have a couple of tight ends that are out, FITZI
buy buy your self Well, Briton Strange is a top
(15:01):
five tight end this week because people are going to
be plugging him in over some pretty big names.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Oh Man, well sell for me, I guess because I
have him behind Jake Ferguson, But I've been debating that.
I think it's kind of like a tie with those
two guys, so especially if Parker Washington doesn't play this week,
and Erickson talked about this a little bit on our
Wide Receiver show about how it just seems like Trevor
Lawrence is much more comfortable throwing in the middle of
(15:28):
the field than he is out wide. Like we saw
this when Evan Ingram had more than one hundred catches
a couple of years ago, and he just seems to
be much more comfortable throwing to his tight ends and
his slot receivers.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Ericson a buy or sell. Briton Strange is a top
five tight end in Week fourteen.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
I think I'm going to buy it, So I got
to move him up. My ranking is I'm slacking here
against ECR and Strange. I thought I was going to
come on, here'll be like, yeah, got it seven, really
high on Brenton Strange this week. Nope, not the case.
So I'll have to move him ahead of Kyle Pittson,
and honestly, I might move him out of Travis Kelcey.
Against the Texans, like they're another defense, it's really tough
(16:08):
on tight ends, and I just feel like one of
these Chiefs playmakers is going to be left holding the
bag if they get held to fourteen or seventeen points
against this really strong Houston Texans defense, So I'm not
concerned about that with Breton Strange. I know we didn't
talk about Trev Lawrence on The Quarterback Show. Last eight
games he has won finish outside the top fifteen quarterbacks,
and it was against the Houston Texans. So Lawrence is
(16:30):
going to probably be a top twelve quarterback this week.
And if he's gonna take guys along for the ride's
probably gona be Britten Strange in a really plus matchup.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
What about Strange versus Ferguson Ericson, Since you're mister Vegas
Total and Lions Cowboys as a Vegas total of fifty
four and a half last night.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Checks, I feel so confident Ferguson is going to catch
a touchdown because he didn't catch them on last week,
despite just he just didn't get his feet and bounds
on Thanksgiving and people were tilting their faces off with
any time touchdown bets on Jake Ferguson from experience, so
I think he's probably gonna score against the Lions, and
I think that's going to obviously put him in a
pretty good spot to outdo Brenton Strange. So I would
(17:08):
put Ferguson slightly ahead, but Strange, I mean checks out
all the boxes. He's got Trevor Lwrence his trust, he's
seeing targets, he's beneficient. The matchup is there, So yeah,
wheels up for Strange.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
You mentioned Kyle Pitts. That's what we're going to talk about.
He comes in at number seven on ECR four star
graded matchup on Fantasy Pros on the rank site. You
guys are in a general vicinity fits his one spot lower. Ericson,
you're one spot higher. You just were kind of indicating
maybe Pits might fall down to ECR level if you're
going to move Strange up. What's your take on Kyle
(17:40):
Pitts this week?
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Ericson, Well, he's been Kirk cousins number one target. And
I pushed back against Darnah Mooney last week because I
just didn't trust him after he only saw three targets
in a game and then of course he puts up
another dud, just because that's been the season for Darnah Mooney.
But Kyle Pitts put up actually a really strong game
last week. Seven of his eight targets for eighty two
yards against the New York Jets. It was good. The
Seattle Seahawks are another good matchup for tight ends and
(18:04):
T J. Hawkinson had a career game for the season
against the Seattle Seahawks with Mac Brosmer as his quarterback
last week, so clearly the Seahawks can be had against
fantasy tight ends. My only concern is obviously, if Drake
London plays, then that obviously takes a big chunk of
the targets out of Kyle Pitts. But he has been
Kirk Cousins guy and should be at least somewhat efficient
(18:26):
in a pretty positive matchup. It's top five for tight ends,
so I like Pits this week. Obviously he'll get downgraded
though if Drake London suits up.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Do you believe that Pitch should get even more downgrade?
If London is going to be active, he wasn't practicing
on Wednesday, and then what's your overall take on starting
him this week?
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Yeah, I'll have Pits at like tight end eleven if
London plays. And that's the thing. London has missed two
games and we were kind of hoping that Pitts would
have this big usage spike. We kind of saw it
in his last game with seven catches eighty two yards
on eight targets against the Jets. We didn't really get
(19:03):
it in the first game that London missed when Pitt's
had two catches for twenty five yards on five targets
against the Saints, and man, we're just we're not getting
any touchdown juice from Kyle Pitts at all. One touchdown
in twelve games this year, eleven touchdowns in seventy three
career games. So yeah, I just I don't want to
(19:24):
be any higher than tight end eight on Kyle Pitts.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
All right, the final tight end we teased, we're going
to talk about Darren Waller. Darren Waller comes in at
ECR thirteen. Both of you find gentlemen have him at twelve. Now,
I will say, looking at the list of the next
couple guys, I do see it's like a similar tier.
I think you can ask the question, can you even
start Gadsden anymore? And he comes in at ten versus Philly,
(19:48):
that seems that seems incorrect about ECR. That won't be
how my ranks are. Fannin in Tennessee versus Tennessee. We'll
see Lovelin against Green Bay. We'll see Waller is kind
of an all or nothing type of guy, it feels like.
And FITZI will start with you. You got him at twelve.
I'm surprised you guys are both in commitment there. He
just returned. You guys are both going in saying Darren Waller,
(20:11):
But do you think there's even an argument to say
you take his upside over? Like I said, like the Goadstins,
who's got a horrible matchup, not getting targets anymore? What's
you take? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:20):
I have been having a great internal debate about Darren Waller,
and now that Erickson refers to him as a layup,
I just dropped Waller three spots in my rankings because
Ericson and I have had our Darren Waller debates before. No,
He's he's such an interesting guy to try to evaluate
(20:42):
because he's not really a full time player. He's not
even really a tight end for that matter. He's basically
the dolphins number two wide receiver right now. He's averaging
thirteen point seven yards per catch, which is really high
for a tight end. His average depth of target is
like around eleven yards, which is insanely high for a
tight end. Like he is a boom bosst big play
(21:04):
tight end. With a wide range of weekly outcomes, so
it's just really hard to peg him in any given week.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Andrew Erickson, how do you not have him higher? You're
almost like you're almost obligated to have him as to
be the highest on Darren Waller. When you go Waller week,
you go all in. So talk to us about Darren Waller.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Yeah, I mean looking at where I have Gadsden ranked.
To your point, he was a player that I talked
about the Prediction Show with worm about just being really
concerned about his outlook. Brutal matchup against Philadelphia Eagles, target competition,
quarterback injury just doesn't seem like a good spot for Gadsden.
Whereas Darren Waller, we've seen him in this exact spot
before already the season against the New York Jets, and
(21:44):
he scored two touchdowns. He led the team in receiving
yards last week on two catches three targets. He also
had a red zone target where to have missed him.
I just think that he's a player that they love
to use in the red zone. We expect them to
be able to move the football against the New York Jets.
That's why Devon e Chan is the number one running
back in the Fantasy football rankings this week because they're
gonna be able to run the ball all over the
New York Jets, and when they getting close to it
(22:07):
looks for Darren Waller. So yeah, I think the thing
with Waller too, And we've had so much pushback with
Waller in just Myself fits Dee Brawl, the analysts, hera
Fantasy pros. But the thing that I've always held true
with Waller is it's never been ability, it's availability with him,
like he is always hurt, which has been even true
this year. Right this is like his fourth game played,
but when he was healthy and playing, he was scoring
(22:29):
touchdowns left and right. And even last week in his
first game back, he was relatively productive based on the
role that he had that was pretty limited. Mike McDaniel
even said that they were kind of conservative with him
in his first game back. Look, I'll never know why
he decided to come out of retirement and play for
the Miami Dolphins this season. Just a very very weird
career arc for Darren Waller, but obviously doing it for
the money as well as indicating but I think he
(22:52):
was put on this universe to catch touchdowns, and I
think he's gonna do that against New York Jets two
weeks in a row, two games in a row. So
gimme Waller.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Would you see would you say Darren Waller's musical career
is more about ability or availabilityable?
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Probably some big similarities there for sure. Well get Darren
I guess, get Britain Strange and Darren Waller, Darren Waller
in your lineups, just like you all expected in Week
fourteen that you're going to have to do to win
your your week's all right, that's gonna do it. You
