First date of follow up powered by the Advocates Injury
Attorneys online at Advocateslaw dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Ruby is on the phone today for a first date
follow up and she's getting ghosted by a dude named Jordan.
So in a few minutes we'll call him and see
if he'll tell us why he's ghostinger and maybe get
her another date. But first, Ruby, how long has it
been since you heard from Jordan?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Hi, it's been nine days?

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Okay, oh, okay.

Speaker 5 (00:23):
How many times have you tried to reach out to him?
So I did a double text and I sent one
Instagram reel?

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Okay, yeah, that last text was two days ago.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
So you didn't make the reel.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
I just sent like a top gun, like real, like
a jet reel. So I said, like, oh, still feeling
the need for speed.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
So well, I'm sure that's an inside joke somewhere. So questions, well,
don't you tell us about your date? Ruby?

Speaker 5 (00:52):
Yeah, it was an incredible date.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
We went to an aviation museum. Uh oh and big
top gun fan so oh okay, yeah, it was my idea.
And he even did that quote.

Speaker 5 (01:05):
He said, like I feel the need for speed in
front of me with the jets and it felt perfect.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
It's like the fantasy.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yeah, it was like kind of my dream day, honestly.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Like we grabbed burgers after two and then we talked
about our childhoods for like two hours maybe, and he
told me about how he built model planes with his grandpa.
I guess I'm confused why, Like, I don't know why
he's not talking like texting me. But we also kissed
in the parking lot and he really kissed me.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Okay, yeah, so it's like a good kiss, but you
don't know why he's ghosting.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yes, Like why would you kiss me and start to
ghost me? It doesn't make sense to me.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Is there anything you can think of that would be
something that happened on the date that was awkward?

Speaker 3 (02:00):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (02:01):
Maybe I like talked about like my hedgehog that passed
away during COVID.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
I'm so sorry.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
I showed him a.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Picture, right, it's the earn of my hedgehog. She's a
little tiny pick, like a tiny and pink. Or maybe
I asked him any questions about his grandpa.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I don't know. I was just curious, Like I didn't
mean to make a therapy or anything.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
What why do you think the hedgehog would be a
reason he wouldn't call you back.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
I just felt pretty emotional when I showed it to him,
Like I started to cry because it really was a
good she was really a good emotional support for me,
Like stem.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Yeah, maybe this was a hymn thing. You know how
some people get really overwhelmed by other people's emotions and
if you're somebody that can't really like carry your emotions,
like well or you's too much, I don't know, like
maybe he really liked you. But then it was like
I don't know how to express myself.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
I hope he's like in an act, like he gone
to an accident and he's in the hospital, you.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Know, like.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
He's doing okay. He just had a really good reason.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
I get where you're go all right, And.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
If you're just joining us, Ruby is on the phone
and she's getting ghosted by Jordan. So we're about to
call Jordan and see if he'll tell us why he's
a ghostinger and maybe get her a second date. But
before we do that, Ruby, why don't you break down
your situation again for us real quick?

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Hi?

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Yeah, so I went on an amazing day and it's
been nine days since he hasn't texted me back, and
we went to an aviation museum.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
We had a great time.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
He kissed me like really hard, and oh yeah, I
think I overshared about bubbles my hedgehogs who passed away.
And yeah, maybe I scared him by having like big emotions.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
I'm not sure.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
I think he might be in the hospital or an action,
because I honestly he really led me on.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Okay, well I hope not. Are you ready for us
to call him?

Speaker 3 (03:57):
No, but I guess we have to do it all right?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Here we go.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Hello, Hi, man, speak to Jordan.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Please, uh speaking?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Hey Jordan, how are you? This is a radio show.
It's called The Jebel Show.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Hi Jordan, I'm Nina.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Hi, I'm Victoria and my name is Jebel.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Is how many people? What is this?

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yeah, there's three people on the phone. It's a radio
show called The Jebel Show. Have you ever listened to us?

Speaker 3 (04:35):
I think I have. Actually, I just don't know why
you're calling me now.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Well, we're calling you because we do a segment on
the show called the First Date follow Up. And what
that is is if you go on a date with
somebody and then end up ghosting them. That person can
email us to get you on the phone and ask
why you're ghosting them. So we got an email about you.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Oh now, okay, it's Ruby, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yes, it is Ruby. Congratulations. Do you mind telling us
why you're a ghostinger?

Speaker 1 (05:05):
I don't know. It just it's we had one nice
date that it got a little weird.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
What happened.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
The date was awesome actually, but Ruby's awesome. She's smart, funny,
definitely interesting. But then she she told me about her
dead hedgehog within twenty minutes of meeting me and cried,
like real tears.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Right, Yeah, we talked to her about your day. She
did tell us that par she thought that might be
one of the reasons.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
We found that kind of hard to believe because it
just feels a little bit, you know, harsh.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Well, yeah, I mean I didn't want it to be
a big thing, but she kind of made it a
big thing.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Like, I mean, she really cried.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Did you comfort her?

Speaker 3 (05:50):
I tried, but.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
It was just a little overwhelming for me. So we
finished out the date and that seems like enough for me.
It's just a sign that might not be the best
to come.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
The hedgehog thing.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Yeah, well, you know what, it's not even just that.
She She also at one point showed me this, this
little picture on her key chain of an urn for
the hedgehog.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
It was really a lot but the hedgehog.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Okay, so there's a lot of hedgehog.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Memorial for hedgehog. It was a lot of hedgehog, a
lot of here's a lot of hedhog.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
All right, Well, thank you for telling us why you're ghostinger. Now, Jordan,
I'll let you know that Ruby is on the phone
and wants to talk to you.

Speaker 5 (06:42):
Uh yeah, Hi, Drodan, it's Ruby. Hi you Ruby. You've
been ghosting me, haven't you.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Uh yeah, I mean you've been listening in so I
guess you just heard that.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
Wow, you are a jerk and you're ghosting me because
of Bubbles. You seem to have like run away from
commitment or any like issues that requires yet it seems yeah,
it's like you never had a pet, or you've never
felt deep emotion for something for anybody.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Okay, I mean, hold on, this is a lot. This
is what I mean. This is a lot. This was
the first day and it's not even because of Bubbles.
It's because you told me about bubbles being dead within
twenty minutes of meeting me, and then you cried about
it for another twenty minutes, and then it's like you
wanted me to cry too. It's just I mean, come on,
it's a lot on date one.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
So okay, I'm so sorry for having a heart.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
I guess you should have talked about something more superficial,
like crypto or like sports injuries.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
I guess I.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
Really thought you were someone else, but like it seems
like you're showing me that you really are just like shallow.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I mean, you kind of should be a little lighter.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
I'm the first meeting.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
I mean, we're taking the point of dating is like
what marriage? Right, So like we're supposed to jump and
dive in pretty deep.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Not in twenty minutes of meeting someone. And then that
means me saying, well, how much deeper is it gonna go?
Crying about a dog?

Speaker 5 (08:18):
You're counting the time when you meet someone on a date, like, oh,
there's a time where twenty minutes that's when she cried.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Oh yeah, But why did you kiss me after? Why
did you leave me on like that? Huh?

Speaker 1 (08:30):
I mean I guess I just kind of felt bad.
It's I mean, you've been like mourning this hedgehog for
years and oh, oh my.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
God, you are my first kiss. Who Yeah, that was
my first kiss, Jordan. I don't believe like you ruin
my dream of like my first kiss that was supposed
to be with my my soul may or something, but
you did it because of my pet that died.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
I so I didn't know that.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
I mean I would have guessed the first kiss would
have been aheadhog. Honestly.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Oh, I just can't believe it did that.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Oh, it's it's okay, it's all. We all go through things.
It gets better. You'll be You'll be fine. I didn't
know it was your first kiss. Than I am sorry
I ruined that.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Moment for you. You just don't ever do that to
your girl again.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Ruby.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
Thinking about it like this, how many people actually end
up with the person that they kiss for the first time,
like their very first kiss? Like, who's with that person?

Speaker 3 (09:37):
I just wanted mind to be special. I was been
waiting for years for this moment, you know, like I'm three.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Wait, hold on, wait a minute. I thought that you've
had boyfriends before.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Yeah, well I may have cuddled with them, but I've
never kissed them. Well, we talked a little about this.
I thought it was more than just cuddling. I stocked
with six people, but I've never kissed them.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
Oh oh why not?

Speaker 5 (10:04):
Because I was trying to save it for my soulmates
and Jordan kissed me.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
So now I really have to rethink my life is honestly.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Yeah, I mean maybe you should have started with the
kiss and then saved the other stuff for the soulmates.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
Yeah, well that's your opinion, but you really ruined my kiss,
so off Jordan's Oh

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
