Cam thought he met “the one” when he flirted with Elena in the grocery store checkout line. Their first date? A romantic picnic in the back of his truck—with pillows, pizza, and wine under the stars. The vibes were off the charts, and the texting didn’t stop… until it suddenly did.

When we got Elena on the phone, she revealed why: a woman claiming to be Cam’s girlfriend messaged her, warning her to stay away. Turns out it was Cam’s ex—and she’s not taking the breakup well. Is Cam telling the truth about being single? Is Elena willing to risk the drama for a second date?

It’s a cinematic love story that hit a messy plot twist. You’ve got to hear how this one ends.

First Date follow Up powered by the Advocates Injury Attorneys
online at Advocates Law dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Tim is on the phone today for a first day
follow up and he's getting ghosted by a woman named Elena.
They went on a date and now he's hearing nothing.
So we're going to try to get her on the
phone in a minute and see why she's ghosting him
and maybe get him another date. But before that, Caim,
how long has it been since you heard from Elena?

Speaker 3 (00:22):
It's in about four days.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
How did you meet Elena?

Speaker 5 (00:27):
Well, so we we actually met at a grocery store
check outline.

Speaker 6 (00:31):
Oh cool, Yeah, how'd that work?

Speaker 3 (00:35):
No Hallmark movie? That's perfect. Well, that's what I was saying.
So I saw her.

Speaker 5 (00:41):
I thought she was extremely pretty that high, and then
you know, I ended up following.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Her out to her car.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
We were chatting to send it and I got her
number and she was like totally into it.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
It was really He's like so cute. You know.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
We were like flirting and talking to each other and
exchange numbers. So I thought it was going really well,
and I didn't expect that at all. So I was thinking,
you know, for our first date, I was like oh man,
this would be funny and kind of cute, like let's
meet at the grocery store, parking a lot and like
have like an outdoor picnic in the back of.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
My truck, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
And I bought like pillows and blankets, and I had
like pizzas and wine and fifty cuffs.

Speaker 6 (01:22):
Who are you you?

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah? I think thought it'd been really cute. It almost
maybe that whole Starring Born kind of vibe, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
Yeah. I just sort of felt like, I don't know.
The only thing I could say is like felt like
really meant to be. And so I know it's more
than four days, but you know, it went really well,
and we were talking a lot afterwards and texting, you
know that, like texting a lot between each other, and
all of a sudden, it just communications stops.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
I'm thinking, like, what's what happened?

Speaker 5 (01:54):
It seems bigger to me because it was going so good,
you know, so I really would like.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
To find out texting after your date and everything.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Yeah, I know, she hit me up said good night.
I think good night.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
We were like that entire next day, like all day
we were just texting back and forth. It was just
it was just wonderful, and I was going, oh my god,
this is like this is like romantic dream come true,
you know what I mean, Like, what's going on here?
And then it just stopped. I'm just a little worried.
I don't know why.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
I'm just in the dark bit and I'm like, why
would she respond to any of my texts. I'm hoping
that you can.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
Help me get in touch with her and maybe she'll
let me know what's going on. Maybe it's just she
got busy or something, or who knows, that's my hope.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Anyway, Well, if you think back on the date, was
there any moment I guess if she was talking to
you the day after, or maybe she was being a
polite talking to you the day after and then knew
she was going to go to you, and then you know,
if something happened on the date, like, is there anything
that you can think of that would have been weird?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Nothing?

Speaker 5 (02:54):
I mean, honestly, honestly, I can't think of anything. I mean,
we weren't just talking to be polite. We were talking
about meeting again and how wonderful the night was. And yeah,
that's not a person who just going to be nice.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
Anything you could think of there would be a reason
she'd be ghosting you.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
I mean, honestly, I have no idea. I sware, I
don't know. I mean what you was romantic, as she
thought in the parking lot.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
But I mean maybe she should look back and I
don't know, talk about friend or something. They thought it
was corny, but I don't think type. She's being smart
and independent like she could think herself. So I'm just boggled.
I mean, maybe she had.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Another relationship or something and it was more serious than
I mean. I would just like to know that. Okay
that's the case.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, maybe all right, we'll play a song come Back
and then call her and see if she'll tell us
why she's ghosting you and maybe get you another date.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Okay, yeah, that'd be great. Thank you.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Play a song come Back. Can get your first Day follow.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Up, Next first Date follow Up powered by the Advocates
Injury Attorneys online at Advocateslaw dot com.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
If you're just joining us for today's First Day follow up,
Cam is on the phone and he's getting ghosted by Elena.
So we're about to get her on the phone and
see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him, and
maybe get him another date. But before we do that, Cam,
why don't you catch everybody up on your situation.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Yeah, I met this beautiful girl named Lena the checkout
line at the grocery store.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
We had a.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
Wonderful date and uh, everything went well, and then she
just hasn't, you know, hit me back, and just been
a few days and I'm hoping that something is still there.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
And you were texting with her for a while after
your date too, It's not like she didn't ghost you
right after.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
The date, correct, right, Yeah, we did. We followed up
and had tons of communication of the day after, and then.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
It just stopped.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
I could have been our friends rooster blocking and calling
it a corny date.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
Yeah, yeah, you know, maybe one of her friends said
it was corny or something like that in the parking
lot of trying to follow a movie or something.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
But all right, well we'll see. Are you ready for
us to call her?

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yes, I'm ready. Let's talk ahole. Here we go, Cana.

Speaker 6 (05:12):
Hi is this Elena?

Speaker 5 (05:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:14):
There? What's up?

Speaker 6 (05:15):
Elena?

Speaker 5 (05:15):
How are you?

Speaker 6 (05:15):
My name is Jewbell and a host the radio show
it's called The Jebill Show.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Hi, Elena, the whole show's here. My name's Nina.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
Oh, Hi Nam Victoria. How are you Hi?

Speaker 5 (05:25):
Hi?

Speaker 6 (05:26):
Do you ever listen to the show.

Speaker 7 (05:29):
Yeah, it's just it's kind of it's a little Surrey.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
He's calling me right now.

Speaker 6 (05:36):
I feel the way what we'll.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Just cross his arms, sat back and isn't it It's crazy.

Speaker 6 (05:42):
It's crazy how we met this way, Elena.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
We're calling you because we do a segment of the
show called the First Day follow Up, where if you
go out on a date with someone and they end
up ghosting them, they can email us to get you
on the phone and ask what happened and why you're
ghosting them. And we got an email about you from
a dude named Cam.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
All right, all right, wow, all right, that doesn't sound
very good.

Speaker 5 (06:04):
I know.

Speaker 7 (06:05):
I mean he I really liked Kim and there's nothing
we had. We went on a date. I thought it
was really nice. I actually thought it was probably the
most romantic date I've ever had, and it felt really
like special. The whole night was just kind of very romantic,

(06:26):
and I honestly thought something was gonna happen with this.
But the following night, I get a random DM from
this girl named Melissa who just basically was just like,
don't speak to my boyfriend ever again. This than that,
and I'm and I was like, well, I don't believe you, like,

(06:47):
how do you? And she just sends me a picture
of the both of them and it's clearly him, and
I'm just like, I don't know. I don't want to
be a SIPs here, like I don't want to deal
with this, and so I.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Just i'd rather know.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Please, I'm sorry. I didn't want to cut anybody off,
but I have to correct this, please, Lena.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
That's Cam. He's actually on the phone listening.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Nohing, Wow, yeah, no, no, I'm so sorry I had
to do it this way. But but okay, I'm glad
you said that.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
Because look, Melissa is my ex, like we have been
separated for over a year now, and she's been holding
out hope that possibly it still could be reconciled because
I haven't been dating because I talked about you and
our date to one of my coworkers and that's probably.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
How she found out because we still work together. But
no way, no, we are. I'm one hundred percent single,
like there is nothing there.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
I totally thought it was the best day I've ever
been on too, and I don't want to leave that
because of this. I mean, it's total. I swear you
can ask my friends follow up with anything. We are
not together anymore. She is, I don't know what that is,
super spiteful.

Speaker 7 (07:56):
He said, you haven't been with her for a year.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
No over a year, like it has been done.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
We were together for a few years, like four years,
and it just didn't work out, and it's been over
and she just hasn't really moved on. I mean I
showed my friend my corker social I was like, oh
my god, this is magic, like so he saw and
you must have said something which is crazy.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah, like believe me, Well, just.

Speaker 6 (08:25):
Tell her not to reach out to me because, like
you know, has she done this before.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
She has done it one time before.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
But I thought it was over, Like that was like
eight months ago when it was like pressure, Like I
thought she got over by now.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
There's nothing that's making her your ex feel like that.
There's a real reason to be holding on. So I
know people are quick to jump to conclusions and be like, oh,
she's crazy, but like you are you sure you're not
giving her mixed signals for her to think that she
has some type of like I don't know say to
who you guys, No.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
No, no, we don't.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
We don't hang out outside. We talk at work, and so,
I mean, it felt like I've blocked her. I don't
have full feelings towards her that way. Yeah, and so yeah,
when she just has she's seen We've mentioned in the hall,
like you haven't you not seen anybody yet? And I'm
like no, no, no, I'm just waiting for the right
moment and dating and but nothing's set right now. And

(09:19):
I've said stuff like that, but it didn't. I never
gave her any indication that I want her back. It
just didn't work out.

Speaker 7 (09:25):
You know, this sounds like I'm just jumping into a
whole big messy now. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
It really a little messy, really, isn't. I mean, I
can't fit any other way. It's like I've moved on.
If she hasn't, it's like she's still not She's all
in my life.

Speaker 7 (09:43):
Though, Like yeah, but how many times can you like
reiterate say that I'm hey, I'm saying like we're not together.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Does she have snapped tendencies? Because honestly, I would be
scared of that.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
She's not crazy, Like I mean I swear. I mean,
it's like I hope that all of y'all understand, like,
sometimes if you have a path, it's not a path
that I.

Speaker 5 (10:02):
Want a part of me. I am moving on. I
have moved on, and someone else doesn't determine who I am.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
I do understand that. I do hope though, that there's
something that I don't know you can do to stop
her from thinking there's anything there.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
Yeah, yeah, well now that knowing this because like I said,
the first time it happened a long time ago, it
was like eight months ago. I know it's fresh, and
I gave her the benefits that we talked, but she's
still like that. I'm definitely gonna confront her and let
her know this is uncalled for. It, Like, you can't
do this anymore.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
So we're done.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, And.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Like she shouldn't be contacting You shouldn't know you I.

Speaker 7 (10:39):
Block her, Elena, you must be really special if she's
still caught.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Something she can't get over. Elena, would you like to
go out with Cam again on another date? We'll pay
for it, give it another chance.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Yes, I have plenty more movie ideas. I swear, I'm
what's the.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Movie that has the girl holding mace in her purse
whatever that movie is, and make sure you're that one. Jesus,
I've had my like I was dating somebody who's ex
showed up at the foot of the bed broke into
his house when I was there. So I'm telling you
just be safe.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
God, don't do what you doing.

Speaker 6 (11:23):
No, I mean, I'm just saying that, like.

Speaker 7 (11:27):
Okay, good I'm having a second.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
I'm not saying good God, I'm sorry, go on the date,
good luck.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Would you still want to go out with me again?

Speaker 7 (11:38):
Oh wow, what a proposal. Yes, but somewhere just you know,
near the police station.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
Congratulations, you will first date.
