Speaker 1 (00:02):
I don't even know why I'm hosting. I forgot to
ask you this the other day, but I'm not gonna
forget twice this student called a postseason game.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah, for about forty five seconds, you did check it
off the list.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
I'm there.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
I got a lot of a lot of good feedback
from ESPN and then the boys there and uh, the
only thing I did wrong I forgot who was hitting.
That's you know it it's hard.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
You know.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
When I got there, They're like, all right, well he's
not back, go ahead, and I said, all right, here
we go. And I'm not mentally, you know, I just
started rambling some shit off excuse me stuff and the
way it went, man, it was a lot of fun.
It's something you know, to think about. I think that'd
be pretty cool to try. And you know, call be
the play by play guy and it's it's a it's
I tell you what. It's a lot more work. Don't

(00:48):
get me wrong, I do all my homework. I do
a lot. But I understand if you're the top dog
like Scott has been, you know, his whole career, it's
it's a different ballgame. So it was fun for the
forty five seconds to a minute, I had it, but
I was relieved when Sean got back in there for.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Sure what happened? Are you allowed to share?

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yeah, I mean I think the door when he left
to go get something real quick, locked behind him. That's
what he told us. And no, he was banging on
the door. I guess the crowd was too loud you
couldn't hear him. And finally, I guess the security guy
that was there had something to open the door up.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
But we have a code red national broadcaster for ESPN
for this game. Cannot get into the broadcast with code red.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
I guess rule thumb don't ever lock the door any
or don't ever shut the door, just in case. So
security was tight there, which is good.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah, we like that. We like that. But Todd father
was a play by play guy for game one. Yeah,
towards the beginning of Game one. Ye, So there you go.
If you want to look back, I'm sure you can
find it somewhere.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Later today we are going to do a postgame show
on the Mariners and the Tigers. We are crossing fingers
that will start on time. That'd be cool. I know
that it's a little wet out in Detroit. Hopefully not
too Cray, but Mariners Tiger's Game three series is tied
at one. We've been doing postgame shows. We had one
late on Monday night. We did the Cubs Brewers follow up,

(02:12):
and then we also broke down the Phillies and Dodgers.
We'll talk more about those series throughout the show here,
but just letting you know that we did do live
shows and post videos in case you missed them for
postgame thoughts. Now, let's charge charge, all right, Todd father,
we haven't had Yawn since the Blue Jays smacked the Yankees.

(02:34):
I know you like to virtually smack Aeric Kratz. This
was in person here two games tons of offense from Toronto.
Yankee showed some fight in game two, but overall for
a team that you've covered all year, really you've seen
both the Yankees and the Blue Jays quite frequently. Your
thoughts on these two so far.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Well, not very good if you want.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
The truth, Well, not very good for the Yankees.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Right, Yeah, that's what I'm meant. If people know me,
they understand where I'm coming from. To give up that
many runs. I remember I was watching I was at
my sister and lost her little birthday party. I'm sitting
there watching the game, and you know, we're all rooting
for the Yankees. Bases loaded, and you got Aaron Judge
up with nobody out here. We go the time to
come and he swung at ball four. It was just

(03:21):
you could feel it. After that, it's like, oh yeah,
you got the run in from Bellinger and then it
was just you get one run with bases loaded and
you're still down two to one, and the wheels fell off.
I I you know, I don't know if Toronto just
has their number this year, and it's it's kind of amazing,
you know. I think it's I'm not saying Blue Jays
aren't a good team, but it just seems like it

(03:41):
shouldn't be this far of a disconnect of run scored
and everything else goes to show you that Toronto is
one of the best places to play in, one of
the toughest places to win in. In a playoff atmosphere,
Vlad Guerrero, I mean, holy cow, Junior, he's taking off,
you know, no, Bobashett and guy says, you know what,

(04:01):
I got this, I'll take the reins, give me, give
me the reins.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
I got it.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
I mean, you look at his numbers, absolutely silly right
now and he MVP right now status for him. And
the pitching has been absolutely phenomenal. Kevin Gosman. I mean,
we knew how good of a pitcher he was. He's
just stepping up that.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
I think.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
It's a split change that he throws is absolutely filthy.
Looks like a fastball falls off the planet Earth. I mean,
got to swing at it because it looks so tasty.
But yeah, I mean there's so much more you can
say about this team. They are just getting pushed in.
They are just getting absolutely crushing. That's the Yankees and
they got to figure it out. Been a part of
both of them. Been with the Yankees when we're down,

(04:40):
oh two against the Guardians and now you're gonna have
to step up and win two at home.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
You guys won that serious.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yeah, Yeah, we came back in one three in a row.
And I've been on the other end two you know,
we beat We were up against the Giants in two
thousand and fourteen, thirteen maybe and.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Twelve or fourteen, yeah, one twelve, excuse me.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
And we go to San France and we want two
in a row and we're flying home fielding really good,
and then you know an error in the in the
top of the ninth. They won three two, and you
see it. It's that one game. It's that momentum shift.
If you can win game three in best out of five,
it just turns it just a little bit more to
be like, oh the other like Toronto. If the Yankees

(05:22):
win today, all of a sudden, Toronto's gonna be on
their heels. The Yankees got nothing to lose. They got
to go out and dominate. Toronto's like, all right, we
still have two games, but we'd like to win here.
So it's that psyche and that mentality of we don't
want to get it to a game five.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
So game three is very very important.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Todd, we played the Indians in twenty seventeen.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
And.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Big thing.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
I remember a grand Slam kind of broke our back
in that in that game, kind of like a grand
Slam broke the Yankees back by by Vladdie. Kind of
wasn't even that close when we were in Cleveland, and
I remember sitting in a bullpen like really like these
guys are beating us. And then and then we went

(06:03):
back home, took game three, and then you had the
Andrew Miller Greg Bird game. When you go back home,
you have the exact same ability to dominate the team
that you dominated at home during the regular season. I
think the Blue Jays correct me if I'm wrong, are
one in eight in their last nine games at Yankee Stadium,

(06:27):
So to me, I think it kind of shifts to
the Yankees a little bit. But the Yankees got to
come out and they got to get on top here
because you can't keep playing from behind, especially from behind
two or three runs.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
This episode is presented by Fox One are presenting sponsor
for the next few weeks. Here the playoff coverage is
brought to you by Fox one on foul Territory because
we want to keep reminding everyone that all Alds and
Alcs games, playoff games, and the World Series can be
found on a Fox one and if you want to
try it out, you've got a seven day free trial
that you can go to foxwe dot com for We

(07:02):
post the description uh the link to the description in
the episode with our FT links. If you want to
click that and give us a little love, that would
be cool. We're working our asses off all postseason long,
and you can see that Tigers Mariners game that Prazinski
and Wayne Right and Adam Amin are going to be
calling again. If you're like, ah, I don't have an
option here. Fox one seven day free trial, go check

(07:24):
it out. They have live goats. Like you like that
he does? He does. It's a great headshot for him anyway,
stream all your Fox favorites together in one place at
the Fox one app. Don't you think this is going
to be a tough team to beat three in a
row regardless, just based on some of the standout pitching

(07:48):
that they have. And I know that could be looked
at it as the weaker point of the team, right
maybe parts of the bullpen, But I think there are
enough talented arms, there's enough contact in the offense. It's
about who's clicking at the right times. This is a
Boba sheetless offense too, by the way, that looks really
damn good right now. But like you said, Blady has

(08:08):
the ability to be a top five hitter in the sport.
He's doing that right now. He's tough to strike out,
he'll take a walk, and he's got crazy pop the
dream bat.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
And he's not afraid of the moment. And I think
that's the biggest thing. You see him stepping up in
these moments. There's not much more you can say about
the guy. He's absolutely phenomenal. You know, you say, oh,
he had a bad year. You know, I remember two
years ago he didn't hit a home run at home
until halfway during the season. Something like that. The dude
can freaking flat out play and that's the issue. There's

(08:41):
not one pitch you can get by him. You get
O two, don't make a mistake. He's looking for that
pitch and he's been absolutely filthy with it. And you know,
I always talk about riding that wavescooter and next thing,
you know, it's like, God, how can the Yankees do this?
But they can. They do have the firepower. They have
to find a win to win this one. In Game four,
we don't know if it's a bullpen game for the

(09:02):
for the Blue Jays or not, but if it is
with Cam Schlitzler, who's riding really high right now, we
could see this calling back to Toronto. But again, this
is the most important game. Win the day and move forward.
Stop worrying about where you're at in the in placement.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Mm hm, Hey, I thought the Blue Jays made a
brilliant trade and pick up with the Shane Bieber acquisition
at the deadline, and this is his time to shine.
Biaber's been around for a while. I know he hasn't
had a ton of starts yet since coming back from
the surgery, but he's not going to be phased at
Yankee Stadium.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
At all, not at all.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Reddan's good, But to me, this matchup is kind of
a wash. I mean, I feel like they're both number
two ish yeah starters.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Shane b reminds me of that Dylan see is kind
of attitude, just like, give we go a grippet of
repidies my best pitches. You can hit it, go ahead,
but most of the time you're really not gonna hit it.
What do you think, go ahead?

Speaker 3 (09:54):
No, You're fine?

Speaker 1 (09:55):
No, No. About the pitching matchup, Kratz, I mean, do
you think there's an edge?

Speaker 4 (10:00):
I mean, I think Rodan's had a little bit of
trouble against the Blue Jays because he's been walking guys
and obviously they're not going to strike out a ton,
So that's where I see the issue there. But I
think Bieber has the edge if and I'm going back
to twenty twenty and I said this to Bieber when
he was on the show here he was tipping in

(10:21):
twenty twenty in Cleveland, they were the home team because
COVID you had to go the first round to the
home team, and we went in there and I think
that was Cy Young Shae Shane Bieber, and it was
basically a separation between his glove coming up and his
leg coming up. There was more separation, less separation somewhere
in there, and they had him g went to write

(10:46):
center off of them, I think maybe twice. But so
if he can eliminate that, if he can avoid that,
this is his first start against them this season. To me,
I think the advantage is with the Jays pitching matchup
if they don't have something else on them.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Okay, if Aaron Judge doesn't have a big home run
in Game three and the Yankees fall, how do you
look at this postseason and his postseason legacy so far.
I know he has to win a World Series to
solidify things as a legend in New York. He hasn't
done that yet. He's getting knocks. He doesn't look as

(11:26):
lost as he did last year, but you do have
to deliver in the big moments and Also, he doesn't
look like the same guy. I mean, the expectations are
sky high. They should be. He's the best hitter in
our generation, but he's not the same hitter in the postseason.
And it's not like we're getting a game or two
here or there. I mean, he's locked some pretty serious
postseason time.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Listen, when you talk about legend, he's gonna be a
legend either way in my book, whether he wins a
World Series or not. He's just gonna go down as
a person that hasn't won a World Series for the Yankees.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
And that's it. There's been a bunch of them.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Don Maddingly the name one who isn't absolutely phenomenal who
he was an absolutely phenomenal baseball player and manager. You
shouldn't think of this guy any different. He's an absolute stud.
He's hitting the ball. It's a totally different Aaron Judge. Yeah,
he hasn't pop one out, and eventually that will come
with more games if it happens. But there's no doubt
in my mind he's one of the most prolific hitters

(12:17):
we're ever going to see in our time. And there's
no other way you should think about him like that.
Everybody talks about the playoffs. I remember when we were
in there in seventeen Cratzy, how good was he? He was
absolutely filthy. So you know it's hit or miss. But
this year he's doing just fine. The power numbers just
aren't there.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
What are you going to do if he hits eight
hundred for the rest of the postseason, he hits five
more dingers and they lose in Game seven of the
World Series, it won't matter. It won't matter if you want.
If he wants to be legend status like is Don
Mattingly legend status like the guys who won all those

(12:59):
championship I would say he's probably a tier below if
he wants that legend status. I don't think he wants
that legend status. I think he just wants the World
Series ring. But if he wants that does not matter
what he does. It only matters what the team does.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
You're talking Jeter Posada, Mo, anybody was Babe, we're.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
Talking Yankee history. We're not talking baseball history. Baseball history.
He's going to go down as an unbelievable hitter. I'm
talking Yankee history. How he's going to be remembered.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Let me ask you this question, if you had to
pick a right fielder the most Yankees from when they
first started to now, who's going.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
To be your right fielder?

Speaker 4 (13:43):
You mean best ones?

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Yeah, if you're going with the all time Yankee lineup,
is Aaron Judge in that lineup?

Speaker 3 (13:49):
How about that? Sorry? Yeah, okay, that's a legend of me.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Though, No, okay, he's done first base.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
I'm thinking back to all the first basemen. I can't
I can't think. I think it would have to be
no who else.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
I'm trying to simplify it here for me, Like, here's
the thing. He's in one thousand o ps guy, and
in the playoffs in the last several years, he's more
like a seven to fifty.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Yeah, sure, sure that power numbers have dropped ye in
the playoffs. Of course, you know nobody's denying that. But
the team is.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Built for him to look like he did in the
regular season, and if he doesn't, the team is not
the same. Last year they had the gian Carlos stan
Is on another planet card this year not yet. So
if you don't get that, they're waiting for Judge bases
loaded that opportunity. You watch Judge all year, you're like
walk minimum, maybe double or a Grand Slam, and he

(14:47):
doesn't come through. And I know it's just one ab,
but my point is, overall Kratz, if he doesn't look
like a beast as he does in the regular season,
it does cost the Yankees. They're built for him to
be a one thousand oh ps guy playoffs regular season.
I know it's tougher pitching in the playoffs, but still
I would say when you look at his abs, they're
nice abs. It's just not what we usually see from

(15:07):
him exactly.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Yeah, but we can't meld like the conversations into like
does it matter to the Yankees. Yeah, it matters, like
it definitely matters, But we're talking about his legacy. To me,
I think it's a little different and one at bat.
One at bat doesn't change people's minds because Emmanuel Clausse
would say Judge had a pretty decent at bat against

(15:29):
him last year, kind of a big spot went apo
rocket down the right field line, Like there's it's not
one at bat. To me, it's not the results. It's
about does he get a ring or does he not
get a ring? If we're talking about legacy, does the
team need him to do well for them to get
a ring. Yes, but I think they're two different arguments

(15:51):
or discussions, and.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
I don't I don't want to keep going at you,
which we don't.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
I'm just from my opinion.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
I think his legacy is always going to be there,
no matter if he wins a World Series with that help,
of course, but he's got sixty two home runs, you know,
besides Barry Bonds, he's the only one to ever reach
that plateau. So he's the home run leader in a
single season. He's a guy that has feared all over
the land. We might never see a guy of this stature,

(16:18):
you know. Show Hao Tani. I feel like he's in
a different world because he pitches. But for me, he's
my number one pick overall after Show Hao Tani, pretty
much everybody so and last thing, I had a brain fart.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Lou Garrick was a first baseman. I just had a
brain fart there.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
He would be my pick at first base, Scott.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
It's a good pick, all right. Pinstripe Territory will go
over this. I think Derek's been, you know, a little
bit critical because he's like Judge has to show up
in those spots. That's how this team's built. I'm sure
trying to bring the message over from Derek. You can
listen more to Derek. He's posting pregame shows. He's got
postgame shows like he does all season long, and he'll
have one after the Yankees and the Blue Jays. Reminder,

(17:02):
we're doing hours after that first game, the Tigers and
the Mariners, a Philly special. That's NBC Philly reporter John Clark,
who's a who. I'd been around him plenty of times.
He's always got his phone on with video. But he
did capture the Duran entrance and we talked about this

(17:25):
a little little bit last night with Kratz. They were booing,
not Duran, they were booing life. They lost both.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Games at home.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
They've lost a lot of playoff games at home lately.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
What was the score of that thing? They were down
right when he came.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Yeah, they were down by a few.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
See, I think all closers, if you're not up in
the game, they shouldn't have the lights in it. They
could have the music. You don't want the pumping cert don't.
I don't want that, especially when you're down, when you
could play your favorite song, you know, for Edwin, go ahead,
but you don't have to the lights and everything else.
In my opinion, if it's the fans for okay, you
want to do it for the fans. But when you're

(18:01):
losing coming in a game, play the music, try and
get everything going and work from there.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
I like that.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
I like that. I think this is why Philly fans
booed Santa Claus because when they're mad, that's what they do.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
They boo about Josh Naylor having a kid. Oh man,
that's a baseball fan.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
But he's back, so we don't need to talk about
any bs with the with the kid at this time.
And is he going to miss the game? He's back,
you need to make the trip initially. He's in the
starting lineup for Game three. And if he wasn't then
missed the game. He's having a kid.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
Listen, life comes me for anything else. I don't care
what you say. You cannot plan of the time. There's
stuff you could do to plan things. Have children.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Some can't.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Yeah, you want to bring you want to bring beautiful
children into the world.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Any day, anytime. Game seven. I don't really care children.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
First, Yep, you don't miss.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
You don't miss the birth of your child unless something,
unless you can't get there for some reason, like he
had the chance to be there. It's awesome in the
off day, like, yeah, you missed the game. Sorry, sorry
fans may Daby fan should look at it too and
be like it's okay. It's okay.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Unless you're a Kratz and you have five kids a
fifth one you can miss.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Right right eventually, Yeah, tell one of them.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
We got a girl, we got a boy. Just let
me know, make sure, just call me, send me a picture.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
It looks like me. Yeah. But but but good for
Josh and the fam. And yes, if that delivery was
happening during game three, you would not be there, but
he will be there ft fam. Let's talk about Superpower.
Eric Kratz is a proud Superpower customer, and he's going
to give us more of the personal experience. But I'll

(19:49):
just start it with this. You ever go to the
doctor and Doc's just like, oh, drink more water. Are
you looking for more data, more of a game plan?
Superpower does that for you. They give you the experience
that athletes get with teams.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
The lab results came back for me. Now it's streamlines
everything that I kind of had an idea of but
now it really lets me focus on the things that
I'm deficient in, the things that I that I have good,
good lab test results from, and I could go in
that direction.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
I want to go nutritional guidance, supplement suggestions, you name it.
There's so much more info to check out at superpower
dot com and you can lock in the special one
hundred and ninety nine dollars price while at lasts after
you sign up, they're gonna ask you how you heard
about them, mention ft to support the show. Your biology decoded,
your blueprint activated with Superpower, let's say better than box scores.

(20:51):
We had a great live postgame show recap reactions to
the Brewers and the Cubs. We have that on our
YouTube channel. We did that right after the game with
Craft and Kevin Pillar. Are going to give you more. Now,
here is the aftermath the day after the hangover for
the Chicago Cubs right now, because they're one loss away.
I was riding their being done.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
So man, I was riding high.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
What did you expect? And then what did you see?

Speaker 3 (21:18):
I expected them to not give up that many runs in.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
The first inning of the first game, and I expected
them I expect to be a low scoring game. I said, yeah,
I did, just because of what I saw before against
the Padres, a nasty, nasty team meaning good. I expected
a love scoring game. I expected the cub to find
a way to win one of those games you go
three to nothing. I was watching like, oh my god,
Suzuki just had an absolute missile, and then mister ol'

(21:45):
vaughn said time out.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
I'm just gonna pop fly to left.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
My wait, oh my god, it's gone three run Jimmy jacket.
Next thing you know, I'm like, this game's over. That's it.
You can't give up the three run homer in the
first and then another three run home in the bottom
of the first and think like you're in You're the Cubs.
You're like, god, we just gave him our best punch
and they just went bang bang bang.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
That It is this.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Shutdown in your mind. You know, when you hit that
three run homer, even though it's in the first inning,
if you get past that bottom one, does that mean anything?
It does, dude. Yeah, the reaction right after the next at.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
Least a momentum, at least of momentum.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
I'm not saying it's game over, but that's that's like, okay,
all right, we're here, all right, let's go.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
So sorry Cratzy jumped.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
I don't know the whole the whole shutdown anything. I'm
kind of it's kind of like home field advantage. Is
there a momentum thing, yes, but the shutdown inning if
you need, if you need to be like, oh, I
gotta get up as a pitcher, I gotta get up
for this inning. The boys need me.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
To shut it down.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
You're cooked.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
You're cooked. It's not gonna happen. Like you better. You
better be going out there to shut every one of
them dudes down, every single pit you're throwing. So is
it big for the hitters? Yeah, it's big for the hitters.
If you go one, two, three, boys are like, man,
I just took my batting gloves off. I'm ready to
get my second at bat already here it's like seven
minutes ago we were just hitting that. That's helpful.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
I think having the Maze throwing enough strikes, he's going
to be helpful for Milwaukee.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
That was nasty and where there we all talked about
his second half. I mean, his fastball was electric, it
was just absolutely by you. And then a slider at
ninety five.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
What is that? Why does anybody want to play anymore?
When it's got a ninety five mile hour slider. It's
not a slider, it's just a cut fastball. That's filthy.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
God, ninety five, that's five mile an hour difference, and
it will get you out in front. How How are
you out in front of a ninety five mile an
hour cut slide? Yankee, doodle dandy, don't. I don't know.
I'm just he was nasty, and you know he drew
upwards of forty something pitches, but god, two walks, four strikeouts,
I don't care. You go walk the whole side. You're

(24:05):
still not getting anybody. Then that was really good showing
by him.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
He's got to throw enough strikes though, That is the key, right,
I mean, he threw just enough. There were times you're
looking and you're like, okay, is he gonna find the
zone enough? And I don't remember if it was like
second or third av maybe he's facing someone. He falls
behind three to zero and I'm like, oh, are we
just gonna get a string of misses here? But he
corralled it.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
He did. Carrell. If you watched Contraras just stayed in
the middle of the plate. He would back up some sliders,
he would throw the fastball up above his zone. By accident,
he just stayed in the middle of the plate. And
it was like, let's just let's just throw heaters, which
is a which is also like, that's scary to do.
You had a one run lead after the Contrera's home run,

(24:49):
and you're like, all right, I guess you know he's
you know, we can't give up a run here. We
don't want him to tie the ball game up. They
were like, I think our stuff plays the whole zone.
He hung a he hung an indoor curveball. He hung
a curveball inside for strike three to Dansby Swanson. That
was eighty nine. But Todd, You're going, oh my gosh,

(25:12):
this guy's nasty. This guy's so nasty. You're looking at
the numbers. My thing is, I don't see the swings
coinciding with the numbers. Maybe I'm wrong, and it was
a great outing. I don't know how much confidence Pat
Murphy has going forward. I wonder if he's like, all right,

(25:34):
did it, got it. It's out of the way. I'm
wondering what I'm wondering, what's gonna be what his next
outing will look like.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
H Okay, I mean he might not have one. I'm
they in this series pretty quickly, but yeah, going forward, say,
if he's taken on the Dodgers will be interesting. It's
a pretty patient team too, all right, So Bridge ROLLI
just put out this big manager carousel update. A few
of the notable notes. Former Big League catchered Nick Hunley
the favorite for the opening with the Giants. You spoke

(26:04):
about that the other day. Albert is the favorite for
the Angels gig, but Tory Hunter and Kurt Suzuki are
also in the mix. She said. Rocoball Deli, Brandon Hyde,
and Davey Martinez want to manage again. Colorado's waiting to
hire their front office leader first, then they'll figure out manager.
Lots of other notes on here, anything stick out so

(26:25):
far to you guys in terms of the openings.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
Not the openings, but the guys who are free agents.
I love that for Rockoball Deli, I love that he
got out of there because the ORG wasn't behind him,
especially like what I've heard from his players about him,
what I've heard from people have talked to him about it.
Like to me, I think he can slide into one
of the few jobs that they need a winner right away,

(26:52):
and people in misso it'll be like, oh, he's not
a winner. He created a bad environment for them to lose.
No to me, I think I don't know if he
has those connections with alex Anthopolis, but going down to Atlanta,
somebody with experience like that knows how to deal with
a team, but also knows, Hey, you know what, We're
just gonna kind of go and put those boys out there,

(27:13):
let him play.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
And a chip on your shoulder manager, I think is
a thing too. Obviously he's gonna do what he does.
But does Rocco Balldli want to win? And I know
he can't control the game, right but if he goes
to the Braves, for example Kratz, I mean, he could
have a very good team from the jump. I don't
know if that's going to happen, but I like the call.
Derek Falvey, who's the head of the front office for

(27:36):
the Twins, said something along the lines of this is
on me, and I'm like, you're a nice guy, but
it's not on you. You just put it on Roco. It's
not at all. If it was on you, you wouldn't have.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
You put it on rock All baby, it's.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
On me, but we fired him. That's not how it works.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
Listen, there's two names right here. I'm a little biased
because I really like these two guys. I want my
boy lash Ryan Flaherty to get a managerial job. I've
come up with the ranks with him. We had the
same agency together, we actually roomed together. He's a clown,
but he's a smart human being and he really knows
the game of baseball.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
He's been coaching for a long time now. He knows
ins and outs.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
He's a computer whiz now, maybe not back in the day,
but he knows his stuff. And George Lombard, man, this
guy is a truly remarkable dude. His wife went the Rutgers,
so I got to give him the upper hand too.
Just putting it out there. Yeah, I'd love to see
those two guys get a shot a big stut Flarity

(28:38):
Rockies my call, Oh that would be lobbly.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
Ft fam. Another reason why you should love Arena Club
is the grading system. So you recently pulled a slap
pack and then you said, hey, it's not great. Great
it for me? They gave you an eight point five
out of ten on your Auto whitey Ford card and
then they show you all the details of the grading system.
It's very interactive within the app, and then you're done.

(29:04):
If you want to sell the card or you want
to know what it's worth, you've got it.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
It's like getting taken a school on cards. And I
think that's the coolest part of it. If you're young
or old, you understand, hey, this is how it gets
deciphered all the way through. It shows you the numbers
and how they went through it. I think that's the
coolest part about this whole thing. And then you can
keep it traded or sell it or whatever you want.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
And it's so much more efficient to do this through
Arena Club. Whether you're ripping a pack, there's the slab packs,
buying a card, selling a card, grading a card, it's
all there for you. We talk about it all season long.
Arena club dot com slash foul is where you can
go to give it a shot. Twenty percent off your
first card purchase arenaclub dot com slash foul. Use the
code foul at checkout and get twenty percent off Hot Corner. Literally,

(29:48):
we're talking about the play that changed the Dodgers Phillies series.
The wheel play, Tell me about it. You're a third baseman.
How often does this happen? How does this get drawn up?
This way? Was the bunt the right move? Give me everything?

Speaker 2 (30:03):
This is going to be maybe maybe one time out
of the whole year that you get that opportunity and
do it right.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
Cratzy.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
It's got to be put on either by the bench
coach or a player. You talk about it, you go
over this in spring training and you I don't know
about you, Kratzy, but you barely do it during the year.
And if you do, you do it half assed. You're
going through the motions. You just want to get it
over with. They ran it to perfection. Maximuntsey crashes, Mookie

(30:33):
Betts breaks late, Castianos doesn't get off the bag more.
He needed to get off more there. I thought his
momentum was stuck at second. It was a perfect throw.
Freddie Freeman get in the second base so Stott couldn't
get to second.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Everything was perfect. Once he threw the third I'm like,
oh my god, it's not a force. What is he doing?

Speaker 2 (30:54):
Boom got him. It was a monster play. It was gutsy.
It was ballsy and it worked perfect. The bunt was great.
You can't blame him for bunting a third base. That's
what you're taught to do. You want the third basement
a crash because nobody's ever at third base unless it's
a tie game first and second and you're trying to
get the out of third. Phenomenal job. And this is

(31:15):
why this is a World Series caliber team. They've done
it before and they took a chance. Guess what what happens?
They don't get the guy out a third Oh boy,
they could tie the game and then you go to
extra innings. Whatever phenomenal play. As a third baseman, I
get goosebumps. I get fired up for because it never works,
and that worked and it wasn't even a forced play.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
And they have to in this situation. We know that
Mookie called it. He's got to know his personnel. Because
the best bunt play with a runner on second, whether
the first or second or runner on second, it's the
bunt play that we use all the time when I
coach high school is I want the pitcher to crash
the third baseline. The picture has to be athletic, The

(31:57):
pitcher has to be trustworthy, but he has to crash
the third baseline hard Brian Butterfield came up with this.
Third baseman stays home shortstop, I mean the shortstop cover second.
Second baseman goes to first. First basement basically covers the mound,
and you're leaving first base vacant. Because of what Todd said,
you bunt the ball to third. If the first baseman's

(32:20):
crashing the mound and the pitcher's crashing the third baseline,
you're making the pitcher pick that up. They ran it
opposite where Vessia really wasn't even going to be in
this play. Taking the ball out of the pitcher's hand
is genius. I think what's overshadowed here because MOOKI called
to play. Mookie did a great job at disguising it
and making up two steps on Castianos who didn't have

(32:43):
a jump, is how hard that play is for Max
Munsey to come running in plant and turn and fire it.
Todd knows there's plenty of times when you run this
drill and that ball's bunted where stop bunted it. I'm waiting.
I'm waiting until Edmund or whoever was playing second at
that time, gets the first and I just get the

(33:05):
out at first. We're good, nothing hurt. We're just gonna
stay away from a sack fly with a run on
a third.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
We have Max Munty talking about this, so I think
it's worth the thirty seconds here. It is.

Speaker 5 (33:18):
You know, wheel play is not something with that we
traditionally do. But as soon as as soon as we
got in that situation, me move and Tommy immediately started
talking about, hey, we gotta we gotta try something different here.
We can't just play standard bump play. And when when
that came out made the pitching change, we talked to
him about it and he was all on on board,
and you know, I'm gonna credit Mook.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
It was it was his idea.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
We got to go.

Speaker 5 (33:36):
You know, he's saying, we gotta go wheel player. We
got to wheelay, And so we talked about how we
were gonna do it, and uh, you know, we we
get executed it to perfection.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
How big could you feel the momentum change getting that
out at third base?

Speaker 5 (33:46):
Yeah, it's huge. You know, you get that, you get
that guy off second base, you get it out there,
and you know it's just that that changes everything in
that ning.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
That took me back to like, I don't know when
you're when you're playing whatever sport you're playing, and there's
that one guy who's like, oh, we got to do
something different. We gotta do the wheel play. Guys, we
gotta do the wheel play. And you're like, I don't know, man,
a little dicey. It's just like, damn, he hasn't been
a shortstop for very long either. He's been doing this
his whole white athlete. Yeah, freaking athlete. That's cool. That's

(34:19):
why you bring on winning players. I mean, obviously the
Dodgers have a lot of money and resources, but so
do many other teams, and they seem to be in
these spots over and over again.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Before you call, tell me I'm wrong. Here was did
it seem like it was home field advantage there?

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Man?

Speaker 2 (34:35):
I felt like just by looking at some of the
bats swarbur and and Harper, it just seemed like they're swinging.
They were trying to hit a you know, eight run
homer instead of just trying to drive the ball. The
opposite way. To me, I felt like if they weren't going,
the crowd wasn't in it as much.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
I mean, if they weren't going, no, no, You're right.
If they weren't going the crowd wasn't in it. Philly
Philly fans are definitely They're not fair weather because they
love their team. But if it ain't going well, they're
not going to be like everybody, here's the turner, the
Trey Turner, like standing ovation, no, no, no, no, like
this is postseason. The fans are panicked. Is it the Philly?

(35:13):
Are the Phillies panicked? I don't think they're panicked. I
think they're trying to do the same thing that they've
done all year. I think they've run into some brutal pitching.
And I agree with bunting there. And I want to
know if Topper called it because they brought Invader to
pinch hit. So if you're bringing invader to pinch hit,

(35:33):
is he a home run guy? Is he driving the
ball with a runner on second to be able to
score a guy? I don't know. I agree with the bunt.
You are giving yourself so many more chances of scoring
a runner from third than you are from second. You
have to get a hit. How many hits did they
have at that point, especially coming off the bench. It's

(35:54):
to me, it's to me, it's a no brainer.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
On the bunt, I think so you had the right
person doing it. He didn't do anything wrong. He bunted
at the perfect time. Maybe if you saw him crashing
a little bit more, you come back and slash. But
at the same token, it's the playoffs. Everything's gonna be
blown up more. They just made better execution. You tip
your cap and you're like, shoot, what could have done different?

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Nothing.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
They made an executional play and they did it to perfection.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
Do you think the Phillies have a chance, I mean
they No.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
I don't think they do. I don't.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
I think the Dodgers are just playing out of their
minds right now. And it's playoff baseball, which they've been doing,
so I shouldn't say they don't have a chance.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
But it's not. It's not going to be.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
It's going to be very hard for them to come
back to Philly and get another win.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
I would say the Phillies have a chance because of
how we thought they were gonna win the series anyway.
They have really good pitching. Their pitching isn't gonna decline.
The Dodgers have only scored in one inning, the seventh
inning in Game one. Everything in Game two so they've
done a good job of keeping them off the basis,
but it's not going to happen at all for Philly

(37:07):
if it doesn't come from postseason legends like Kyle Schwarber,
Bryce Harper, guys who have had those big moments and
can carry their team. If you can't keep those two
guys off the bases, the Dodgers will not win if
they continue to do what they're doing. Game three is
going to be a cinch for him.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Kratz last thought here looking back, is there anything that
you would have done differently as far as deploying your
pitching staff Rangers. Suarez is going to piggyback Aaron Nolan
game three. He's been a big game pitcher for them,
and then also Durand pitching late in this game when
they were already trailing by quite a bit. Would you
be super ballsy and try and pitch them to just

(37:50):
keep the score the way it is, like, give me
anything that you would have done, And I know it's
easy to look back that maybe is a little bit
less traditional than what was going on here.

Speaker 4 (38:00):
Change you mean changing what they've already done or what
they're going forward and going to do going forward? If
you think Aaron, Nola and Ranger Suarez combined have to
give you six innings. I love starting Nola because you
can't go Ranger and an elimination game. You get any
kind of traffic and go poop. No, nope, we're done,

(38:23):
We're done. We're done. Nola's gonna pick up the rest
of the innings. Nola's the wild card.

Speaker 5 (38:27):
To me.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Nola comes out, he gets one or two guys on Bang,
you might go right to You might go right to Kirkering,
you might go right to Strom in that first inning,
and it will be something that Nola could give you four.
But Nola's biggest problem has been he's had one blow
up inning. Is that inn't going to be the first

(38:49):
inning and then the Phillies are down three to nothing.
That's the risk that you take. But to me, I
think you take Nola first and then you go Ranger
and Duran. He's gonna give innings. It might be the
seventh and eighth because he might have to face his
pocket during that time, and then they're gonna get another
inning and they're gonna figure out who's gonna close it out.

(39:10):
It might not be somebody, it might not be somebody
you think that's gonna close the game out if the
Phillies are winning.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
Let's talk about Craig Breslow. At his exit press conference,
he said, quote, We've talked a lot about how this
window of contention is upon us. Other quotes, every team
gets better if you can bring in a starter or
develop a starting pitcher. He can pitch at Crochet's level.
Talking about wanting to get another start of this offseason,
They're going to be as aggressive as they can to

(39:36):
try to chase that down.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
And you can say it, spit all you want, great, We.

Speaker 1 (39:43):
Just want to know about the throttle.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
We just want to do the best we can because
we have a team that can win. If I'm the
Red Sox and I just or if I'm a Red
Sox fan and I just got Craig breslo in after
having clearly hein Bloom has done what he's done and
he's kind of built this team, I want to hear
Craig Brusli go, We're gonna bring a winning team to

(40:07):
this city World Series or bust for me. I'm willing
to put my name on the line, and I hope
everybody in the organization front off or front office players.
Everything gets in line. Because I'm the one that leads
this charge. I have backing from ownership. They're gonna make
me spend They're gonna get me to spend money. We're
gonna do this. The World Series is ours.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
Yeah, that's for GM crats, for GM fratz. I'm coming
with you too.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (40:39):
Yeah. I mean no, listen, Steve.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Cohen did it and failed.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
That's true.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
That's a guy that put it to all the chips
in and failed.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
He's gonna be the talk for years to come until
they get back into playoffs and do some sort of dam.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
But they also have a weird approach on starting pitchers
right now with free agency. Right you're a big money team,
and then you're like, I want to dance around starters
because I don't believe in the big boys. Problem. That
is a problem. That's that's that's a foundational issue issue
that they have right now. Right that's coming from their
president of Baseball Operations. And you might have to change that.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
You're going to have to because you're.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Gonna spend on everything else. And then you're like, you're
gonna take lottery ticket risks right with our pitchers and
hopefully that works out.

Speaker 3 (41:22):
You know, and Peter Lions is not coming back anytime soon.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
So look at the Yankees. So they got Max Freed.
The Yanks got Max Freed, and someone came out recently
and said the next option for them was Griffin Canning.
I mean, Gryffin Canning had a nice month and change
and got hurt with the Mets. Look at the difference there, huge.
Where are the Yankees without Max Freed this year?

Speaker 3 (41:43):
It's trouble.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Hey, we've got a postgame show. It's the Mariners and
Tigers facing off for Games three. We'll see you after
that one and we'll talk about what happened. And then
after the Yankees match up with the Blue Jays. Derek
Lewandowski's Pinstripe Territory is the spot. Even if you're a
Blue Jays fan and you're watching right now, I mean,
you clearly don't like the Yankees. Are you gonna be

(42:16):
on that one? Why are you pointing out your sol?

Speaker 4 (42:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (42:19):
Oh okay, I didn't know that. Eric Kratton Pinstripe Territory
tonight to either pump up Yankee fans after a big
Game three win to vault themselves back into the series
or to put them to bed for the twenty twenty
five season and Blue Jays fens will be tuning in
at that point. It's part of the FT Network. Go
check it out. Krats hats, What are you wearing today?

Speaker 4 (42:43):
I mean, I've been wearing it for days and honestly
it's hard to see, but it's the Uh it's a
players Weekend hat. You see the different logo that they
use for Players Weekend. They used to do fun stuff
for Players Weekend. What is my Brewers hat to me?
I don't think there's a hotter team blue Jays right now,
and I didn't pull the Blue Jays hat out.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
So will you get a ring if one of those
teams win? For what you're just you're just in love
with them, and I just think you should get a ring.

Speaker 4 (43:15):
Eight of the ten eight of the ten teams that
were in the playoffs, or ten of the twelve teams
I played for. So I really have a lot of homerism.

Speaker 3 (43:25):
Either every game you have a homerism.

Speaker 4 (43:30):
Except for the Dodgers Dodgers Reds, I didn't have a
I didn't have a dog in the fight, but everybody
knew who was going to win that game. That series
was over before it started. Oh sorry, sorry, Tom.

Speaker 1 (43:41):
I mean there was one inning per night where it
felt a little tight and that was it.

Speaker 4 (43:47):
That was when they brought their bullpen in. That was
that was when the Dodgers brought their bullpen.

Speaker 1 (43:50):
In and kind of treated it like spring training where
they were trying were like, nope, still can't throw, Nope,
can't throw strikes. Yeah, we're gonna go with our crazy plan.

Speaker 3 (43:59):
That actually was for them.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
It was yeah, learning really think about it, learning curve
of who's got the coon is the pitching big game.

Speaker 1 (44:07):
You don't want to do the Wildcard series because you
could get bounced. But if you do an you're the Dodgers.
They did kind of figure some things out and say, yup,
out of the circle of trust. You're out of the
circle of trust. Okay, Roki Sazaki's our new closer. Things
did change a little bit there.

Speaker 4 (44:23):
Just just a little rehab. They rehabbed against the Reds.

Speaker 1 (44:28):
We have, Hey, it happens. We have Dan Wilson on
the chess match with aj Hinch and the aldsh the
first full season for Wilson managing the Mariners, he said, quote,
I don't know how to play chess. So I don't
know how to use that as a metaphor, but he's
right there on every move. There's an experience different tier

(44:50):
ajsment managing for a minute now, Dan's new to the party.
He's a longtime big league catcher and he's been in
organizations for a while. They love him out there, but
