Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Games of Names.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
I'm Julian Edelman, and we got a brand new compilation,
Highlight Real starting now.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Next Heidi Gardner. I'm eating everything Patrick Mahomes eats in
a day.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Looks it like being Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
Okay, well, So Mahomes eats a lot in a day.
I was served like so I did a day as
Patrick Mahomes Narrowhead this summer, and like his breakfast. I'm
I'm maybe you eat like this as well. But it
was like twelve eggs and sausage and like a muscle
protein max shake. And then I feel like he had

(00:36):
like steak fish and chicken at lunch, and then steakfish
and chicken again at dinner. I mean, it was an
incredible amount of food.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
I went to ketchup.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Oh I hate ketchup, so it and then oh, okay,
So I took a snap from Tim groundhard, which was awesome,
and it was under it was like where I had
I got my to get up in there, and so
I was already a little nervous about getting up in there,

(01:06):
and then just the sheer force of the snap sent
me flying backwards.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
I have a video of it.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
It looks like I take the snap in the face,
but I don't really, It's just I fall back because
I've never felt.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Keep them hands together, Yeah, got to keep them together. Yeah. Yeah.
You know what when I was a.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Quarterback in high school, the worst was he wearing football
pants when you took the snap.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
No, just shorts.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Oh, I see that's tough because then you feel you
can feel balls. Well, he told me, like.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
I think he said something there was I was also
nervous because there was some hand placement where he was
like he was just letting me know I could really
damage you know if I did, if I snapped back
or so. I don't know, there's something I was just so.
I was so I was so tense when it was
like coming in and then I like just he like
threw me back the field.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
How would you use Andy Reid in snell skit?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I mean, he's pretty good, he's good.

Speaker 6 (02:05):
He's really good.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Shows nuggies over here, whatever, he's a little nuggy.

Speaker 7 (02:09):
I got got by Andy Reid impersonator yesterday. I know red, Wait,
why is no one here?

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (02:15):
Someone he dressed like he's on the sidelines. But in
the hotel.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Someone sent me that too. And I was like, oh
my god. And then I was like, why is he
like walking around a commission center right now?

Speaker 6 (02:24):
Slightly off putting, You'll admit.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Yeah, it was really good. He's so good in those
commercials I would just make I would just cut to
him in a sketch for reactions now.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Eric stone Street on Joe Montana's last minute drive against
the Broncos on Monday Night Football.

Speaker 6 (02:39):
Monday Night Show.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
Yeah, it was everything it was build up to be.

Speaker 8 (02:42):
Montana Lway combined for six hundred and fifty passing yards
five tds. It was a little slow starting out, nothing,
nothing after the first feeling each other out in mile high.
Then we get on the board fourteen fourteen and a half.
L Way is slinging one, Montana slinging one. They trade
TD passes in the third. Then it comes down to
the fourth minute twenty five. It's the same old story.

(03:04):
Lay does the drive. Ten men on the field, he
runs it in himself. They take the lead with a
minute twenty nine left. Now it's Joe Joe magic time.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
And it really when you watch that drive, it really is.

Speaker 9 (03:19):
You know, people talk about Tom Brady with ten yard
three yard four yard dump off passes.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
I mean he did just down, check, check down, check
down the whole.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
Field, and well, so interesting. I'm rewatching it the other day.

Speaker 8 (03:30):
You see guys in this situation today, it's it's from
the shotgun, empty backfield, spread them out back then Joe's
under center every single Yeah, with two tight ends. They
got a minute twenty nine left, two timeouts and he's
still marching down the field under center.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
You look at the Chiefs now with this year. Yep,
you know they've been a lot more under the center. Yeah,
because you know you got you gotta incorporate that run.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
Game, helping the tackles out of little bills.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
You know, it's it's a big thing, and there's something
to be said, like when people say, oh, it's a
dink dunk this that To have the discipline as a
quarterback to not take the food's goal because there's there's
spots where it opened up and it closes quick, and
to be able to not make a mistake in a
high pressure situation and take what the defense gives you.

(04:18):
It seems easy for the regular person, but it's so
hard because you feel that pressure, you feel the time,
you feel where you are in the game and you
know that that's why you like Patrick Mahomes. This year
he's been like that. He hasn't turned the ball over
in six goddamn playoff games and it hasn't been razzle dazzle,

(04:39):
but he's had the humility and he's had that kind
of confidence to like, know what his team is. No
that we have a really good defense right now. We know,
you know, defenses are playing us probably a little different.
We don't have what we had on in the past
on the outside and and to just take what the defense,

(05:00):
excuse you is that's a skill.

Speaker 5 (05:02):
You know, discipline.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, it's just but there's gonna be that one time
where you hit that check down, you hit that option route,
option route, there's gonna be that one time where you
have to put that that fourteen yard in cut in there,
you know.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
And that's what these guys do.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Yeah, And that's what you saw with you know, Joe Montana,
and that's what you saw a lot with Tom Brady,
and that's what you're seeing right now with Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
It's been impressive.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Jack.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
What's was this last? This last drive? Can you last
drive through it?

Speaker 5 (05:31):
Do you remember the last well?

Speaker 9 (05:32):
I remember we are tight end. Keith Cash was out.
He was injured, so we had I believe his name
was Tracy Green or something like that. It was his
rookie year from Grambling State, Grambling State, Grambling State Biggs.
He was a former offensive lineman, six sixty five to
seventy five, big old tight end. He had a crucial
catch down at the end of the game to get
us close to the goal line. And then Willie Davis,

(05:55):
I mean the great Willie Davis again still a Kansas
City chief, gets that that touchdown and where Montana put
it very mahomes aesque, I mean Mahomes would say, my
passes are very Joe Montana asked right where it needed
to be, right right? Lead him to the pylon. Was
rowing outside only where he could get it. So a

(06:15):
lot of what you're coached in the National Football League
on that the back line, everything's high so no one
can catch it. When you're on the goal line, everything
has to be low because there's less space. You know,
how about that pass from Josh Allen against US that
was so low and down at the pylon in that game.
And then Patrick Mahomes returns a favor against the Ravens

(06:37):
with an equally great pass.

Speaker 8 (06:38):
Like oh my man, and shot great recall Eric shout
out to Tracy Green. He only had six career receptions
in the NFL. Yeah, Joe's leading on him and crunches
the French times.

Speaker 9 (06:47):
Yeah, and I don't think. I don't think he I
don't think. I think he played one more year, and he.

Speaker 8 (06:51):
Did one more year for the Steelers Grambling State, Grambling State.
And this one ends up thirty one, twenty eight in
the House of Horrors.

Speaker 6 (07:01):
Kansas City goes in there and gets to win. Boom
and Boomy Night Football.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
Yeah, yeah, Marty gets his.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
First one in there. Yeah, at mile High.

Speaker 5 (07:10):
That's awesome, right. I love Marty Shott and I'm a
Marty ball baby Marty Now.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Rob Wriggle talks about watching the twenty eighteen AFC Championship
game from a glacier with Bear Grills.

Speaker 10 (07:21):
Things are turning around, We've got red, you know, just
all of a sudden, Harry Hill. Yeah, it felt like
we're knock knock knocking on Heaven's door here. And I
was so excited. But Bear Grills called and said, hey,
will you come do running Wild with me?

Speaker 5 (07:38):
In Iceland?

Speaker 10 (07:40):
And I said yes because there was a chance to
do running Wild with Bear Grill Barr Grills. Who would
so I said yes, and he goes, okay, great. Then
I looked at the schedule and it was during the
AFC Championship game. So cut to I'm in Iceland on
a glacier in the middle of the night. On the
far aside. Raykovic is down here and we were way

(08:02):
out in the middle of nowhere and we had these
little shelter halves and I'm I'm laying there freezing my
ass off, but I have my phone and no Wi Fi.
Just somehow there was a signal that I could connect
to because there was a highway that goes all the
way around Iceland or whatever they I guess they have hours.
So I got a very weak, like one two bar

(08:23):
signal and I was able to You couldn't get a
I couldn't watch it, okay, but I could get updates.
Right there was on the you know how the little
football field and it just shows the lines going back whatever.
So I'm I'm sitting there in my tent. The game starts.
It's like one am.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Right now.

Speaker 10 (08:41):
I had just done this thing where you know, we
we repelled out a helicopter as we were climbing up
the ice glacier. We were doing all this stuff all
da i'n exhausted. I got to get a big sleep
because tomorrow we're hitting it again and we're going seven
miles across this glacier. But it's the g the AMC Championship.
We got a chance to go to the super Bowl

(09:02):
in my lifetime. So I'm like, this is so I'm
watching or watching. I'm I'm getting feeds every five minutes
and it's slow, and it's you know, and I and
I can't figure. I'm like, what what the fuck does
that mean? You know, what's going on here? What what
happened here? What does that mean?

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Well?

Speaker 5 (09:16):
A field goal field is not gonna win a game.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
You know.

Speaker 10 (09:17):
I'm getting all mad and you know, all this stuff,
and I'm in my little shelter half on this glacier
and I keep screaming, motherfucker. You know, I'm just cursing
find bears, like everything.

Speaker 5 (09:28):
All right, mate, everything, okay?

Speaker 10 (09:29):
You know, I'm like, oh yeah, sorry, sorry, sorry, you know,
but I kept him up all night. The game finally
ends at like four in the morning, you know, ice
Iceland time.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
Yeah, and we lost.

Speaker 6 (09:40):
But I didn't understand what happened.

Speaker 10 (09:41):
You know, I was like, what hap we were? Things
were going well, I thought we had to you know,
we went to overtime and and I was I just
couldn't get any information and it made me insane. All
I saw was the final score, and you know, obviously
I was heartbroken by that, so I thought maybe I
could get some perspective on that since I didn't see it.
And even when I got back, I didn't get back

(10:03):
until like midweek of the next week, right, So when
I did get back, all the clips were gone, all
the highlights were gone. They were focused on other things.
They were moving on to the Super Bowl, and I
was just I felt like that game slipped by me.
And I saw a couple of clips or like whatever,
somebody's off side at the last penalties and weird things
like that always happen.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
There was a whole ship ton of those. Yes, so
have you seen it? Since?

Speaker 5 (10:26):
No?

Speaker 1 (10:27):
So I'm I never watched the game. I literally just
watched the game. I want to run through the fucking
wall right now. I'm not joking.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
So it was the most epic two minutes of an
AFC championship in their history.

Speaker 5 (10:39):
That's actually me. That's me and my shelter hat.

Speaker 10 (10:43):
Oh my god, watching the game on the glacier. It's
a little windy up here on the glacier tonight and
it's a blowing up kind of storm.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
And and for you, for you people that don't know,
Rob was a marine. So the mental toughness he's showing
right now on a glacier in a Chiefs beanie taking
a video of himself after or during the AFC Championship
in twenty eighteen is that's an insane.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Next up, Eric Stonestreet explains his love for the Kansas
City Chiefs O line.

Speaker 9 (11:24):
So I'm in college ninety four Joe Montana, John Elway.
The other reason I picked this game is because, so
we have a suite at Arrowhead and when I got
the sweet they asked me what pictures I wanted in
our suite and I said, I want offensive line themed
pictures and they said, well, do you have any favorite memories?
And I'm like, well, we had a tackle named Joe
Valario who caught tackle eligible touchdowns Joe Montana, and he

(11:47):
caught one right in front of me at Arrowhead in
my seats and so motherfucker types it in.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
He's like, oh right here. I'm like, yes, hold on,
I'm going to be in this picture. So sure enough.

Speaker 9 (11:58):
On in this picture, Jove got his hands up in
the air and there's a young me in the background
wearing a green polo for some reason. Still have no
idea why I wore green polo to a chief's name,
but there I am cheering.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
So that's up. Those pictures are up in my suite
right above where that touchdown happened.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Well.

Speaker 9 (12:13):
Joe Valario scored a touchdown tackle eligible touchdown in this
game against John ol Way on Monday Night Football.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
Also, John Alt was a tackle this favorite player. John
Alt was my favorite favorite offensive lineman. Have you seen him?

Speaker 6 (12:26):
I mean, what do you think you bring up?

Speaker 5 (12:28):
Jo?

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (12:28):
Joe's gonna. I wish we were bad enough to get
Joe Walt. My dream is that we have John All
and Joe Walt. Love Joe, I love him. He's he's
ten eleven. I would guess is where he'll go.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
Maybe even earlier.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
I've heard like five or six, Well leaves the wide
receiver for us at thirty two.

Speaker 7 (12:45):
I'm so happy we're doing like we're doing like line
love I Love Whitworth.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Yeah, oh big line love him love love you must
love light Matt Light, Oh love Matt Light.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
How fucking funny is he?

Speaker 9 (12:57):
He's hilarious And I've heard some of the pranks that
he did on on Coach on your Coach mo yeah,
and then the shock one, Yes, the shock one, and
then Coach send him a letter or something. I remember
some story about him sending him a letter and got
Thatt like back and.

Speaker 5 (13:12):
Matt was like, oh shit, I'm in trouble. And then
it was like, gotch you what that letter didn't?

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (13:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Love offensive line love Joe Toney, You played with Joe
Tune he is. He's a fucking badass he was. I
love that kid.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Man.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
He's really brilliant too, so smart, smart guy and being
his locker reading the goddamn like romance fiction book or something.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
Yeah, well just look at it this way.

Speaker 9 (13:33):
Torres pe Well, I don't know if toars Peck he
heard his pe he's outed out. But my point is
is he wanted to still play, and you know what
an injury that is, and they just ruled him out.
I think today, Yeah, I saw that great kid awesome guy.
I love my offensive lineman, Nicky Allegretti's going to go
in for him. Nicki two rings. I gave him that
or NICKI two kids. I gave him that nickname after

(13:53):
the last super Bowl because he had twins on the
super Bowl the day of the Super.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
Bowl last time. Yeah, in Arizona.

Speaker 9 (13:57):
Like, you're fucking Nicky two kids now, Nikki ready.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
We gotta get you. We gotta have a we gotta
get you just a nickname things.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
Yeah, what do you want?

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Who needs nicknames?

Speaker 5 (14:07):
We got all we need.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
We need hell over here, we need help name in games.
We're like at bottom barrel, like naming some of these games.
We after trouble with that.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
So next, Heidi Gardner and Jeweles discuss where's super Bowl
fifty four REGs among the greatest games ever?

Speaker 2 (14:23):
So this is a segment where we name the game
and we score it. So what's the name of this game?

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (14:28):
I know what the name is? The Tornadoes versus the earthquakes.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Tornadoes versus the earthquake.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
Yes, that's a great name.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
That is this the greatest game of all time? Let's
score it.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
The stakes of the game one to ten, ten being
the highest decimals.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Okay, the stakes of this game.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
Can it be just personal?

Speaker 1 (14:52):
This is this is this is your show?

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Okay it was It was a ten. This was the
first time I'd ever been in the super.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Bowl ten and this is this a big game?

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Yeah, anytime you're at the super Bowl or a World
Cup or we've done Randy Chash like when the.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Stakes are this high, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
To be world champ, that's a ten star power so
many Kansas City Chiefs stars Before.

Speaker 5 (15:14):
We move on from stakes.

Speaker 7 (15:15):
I think it's interesting to note here that had the
Chiefs lost this game, there was like that season Mahomes
has the MVP year and then they lose at home
to the Patriots. If they come and lose this game
and not, it starts getting that little bit of does
Patrick Mahomes not a winner? Is he that your mentality?
So I think that there was a big thing with
the Chiefs here this last quarter. If it goes a
different way, is the whole chief narrative ever gets so

(15:38):
early on in their career. It was his second year starting.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
He was also on the cover of Madden that season,
and they had always said that.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
No, usually the Madden curse used to be get hurt.
Oh right, yeah, first, oh god, and then who's who's
the last one that didn't get hurt? The first one
didn't get hurt?

Speaker 6 (15:58):
Josh Shadow seeing me.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
A little over as broke at Yeah, all right, star
power one to ten decimals, okay.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Jlo Shakira. I'm trying to think of who would have
been the Niners fans.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
I would count players do deep.

Speaker 6 (16:16):
I mean, they've got some big names on there.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Some big names read yeah, Debo, Tyron Matthews.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
We haven't even said Tyron Matthew.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
Yeah, Honey Badger. I loved I loved it when we
had a Honey Badger and a cheetah.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
It was so fun.

Speaker 7 (16:32):
The conversation here though, is like they there's a lot
of stars in this matchup that became bigger stars now, right,
Like that whole like forty nine ers offense now they're
all stars. Yeah, Like Patrick Mahomes wasn't quite Kelsey wasn't
quite at this level that they are now. So they
were like there's a you know, seventy five percent of
what they are now star wise.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
I'm going to give it at a nine star power.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Nine yep integrity score right there.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Gameplay gameplay well, the third takes the gameplay down a bit.
For me, was brings that back up. So I will
give the gameplay.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Eight that the name of the game tornadoes versus the
earthquakes one to ten.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
That'st okay, Oh that's a that's a ten name. Yeah,
because I brought it back. We were talking about where
we're from tornadoes, earthquakes.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
So yeah.

Speaker 7 (17:28):
Also the way that we view name, it's like the
cultural impact that this game has, so like immaculate reception.
Great name has stuck around for fifty years, So like
what's the staying power on a game like this too?
So like not just like the name of the thing,
but also like the cultural staying power.

Speaker 6 (17:45):
Is that a ten for this game?

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Just shitting her cornflakes?

Speaker 4 (17:49):
But don't you know, as far as the Super Bowl goes,
I think it's a good question. Yeah, you know what,
I actually think this is a big game, really bigger
than even the game play because it's Mahome's first Super Bowl.
So I'm giving it a nine.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Nine. Ok Hey, let's see where this what's our average
straight nine? Nine?

Speaker 6 (18:14):
Where does that strack up as of now?

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Do we have the chart right here? You put it
on the thing it's.

Speaker 6 (18:20):
A dead tie with immaculate reception.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
We had Terry Bradshaw.

Speaker 6 (18:23):
I wanted to talk about that one we've done. Oh cool, nine, I.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
Like it hard.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Nine. We had Mark Cuban and who's fucked up the
curve because he's a marketing genius and wants us to
be wants his game to be on top, so he
gave everything a ten.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
We you respect it, but.

Speaker 8 (18:40):
It got beat by the Then Rob Wriggle comes in
and did the same thing.

Speaker 6 (18:44):
Our first propose score, and that one I actually agree with,
though your.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
Have you guys done thirteen seconds?

Speaker 6 (18:51):
We got it's high on the list.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
Okay, who should we get for that?

Speaker 6 (18:55):
You think?

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Just have me back, come back?

Speaker 1 (18:59):
I think.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
Thanks for listening.
