Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now that I'm year three, I'm gonna make sure the
rookies bring donuts to the when we're going to that.
When we're going to the airplane Saturday morning, we got
walkthroughs I want. Maybe I'm like, now that we're in California,
go get an Airwon smoothie red like Airwon dude.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah see, I didn't even think about that.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
You could.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
You could live so with the bullying. You could live
so healthy in LA. You know, we used to go
send the kids the red Robin, got a murder and
sac of fries. Go to five guys. Go out here,
get a Justin Bieber smoothie for thirty five dollars. Have
a rookie pay for it. Yeah, exactly. Welcome to Games

We're about to throw me the ball of twenty times
in one game, retiring by the age at thirty, I
want to go play overseas basketball.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
That sounds like the dopest retirement plan of all time.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Bro his best Sean McVay story, his passion for not
only the game of football, but to be like a
good person.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
A rookie from Sindon City is about to rewrite the
history books. This is well, we get the dub, but
we did later game. Pooka Nakua, Welcome to Games with Names.
(02:12):
We are going to look at forty nine Ers versus
the Rams week to twenty twenty three historical game with
historical player. In one sentence, Pooka. Why this game? It's
the Niners versus the Rams. It's the Niners versus the Rams.
Did he wait, did he listen? What one sentence?
Speaker 3 (02:34):
That's right?
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Pro move, pro move, pro move, pro move, because I
sit here and I say that, and guys will go
on ramp.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
How was our whole.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Episode for day to Vito?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yeah, yeah, whole episode.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
One question.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
That's all? Now, poop, Is this the greatest game of
all time?
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Is this the greatest game? Ooh of all time?
Speaker 2 (02:54):
No?
Speaker 1 (02:54):
No, no, no, twenty I mean you are a part
of the greatest game of a part of all time twenty sixteen.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
First the falcons there it is eight to three. One opinion, spoiler,
one opinion.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
I mean, not only obviously you're catch across the middle,
you double clasps that there were centimeters in between the
U and the ground. And then freaking Julio had a sidelink,
a couple of sideline catches of oh my gosh, like
Matt Ryan's just standing up, Hey, number eleven's over there,
I'm gonna throw the ball, and he would find a
way to get it down. I was like, holy cow,
that was that was a wild game. I could only
(03:27):
imagine the rush when you your White was a running back.
He gets in there, they run the toss, he ends
up getting the end zone and being like, holy cow.
Because the Garrett Blint was there back there was like
played yeah a little bit at the beginning, and then.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Like he wasn't. I don't think he was playing that much.
Mumbled yeah, and then yeah you get that. You get
putting that dog house in the Patriots, buddy, the vibe
is way different. He can't even get a paw out
during the game. Let me just tell you that dog house,
especially in that game. No, but that was a great
That was a fun game. But let's let's talk about
(04:00):
this game and we'll jump into it. But what's the
off season been looking like? This is going into your well,
this is your third third year. Yeah, third year, and
you always refine your routine in the off season. What's
this off season been like for you?
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Shoot, it's been a little bit of a weight change.
I think I've slimmed down a little bit. It's still
been spending the off season with Coop and Shoot, right
after we watch the Super Bowl and be like, all right,
now it's time to get back to work. So of
like the acclimation week and then getting back into it,
and now we were getting ready to start OTAs have
guys coming back. So it's been fun trying to get
some basketball out there, I mean, play my video games,
but also try to explore some of the things that
I've been trying to go to as many Laker games
(04:35):
as possible, just just enjoy what it's like to live
out here in LA and like being out here full time.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I mean, this is one of the most beautiful places
in the world.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
There's so much going on, and you can go downtown
and nobody will recognize you because they're looking for Leonardo
DiCaprio or they're.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Looking for somebody else, and I'm like, oh, this is perfect.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
I'm just slide right by.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Excuse me, sir, living in LA. What's the coolest thing
you've done this offseason. What's the coolest thing you've done? Street.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
I had to be one hundred percent of meeting Lebron James,
like Lebron James. Lebron James right after the Luca trade.
His first home or the first home game is against
the Jazz, and I'm supposed to do like a jersey
swap with Luca. I'm so excited. I'm playing my best
music on my way down to Crypto. I'm having a
good time. My high school buddy calls me. He's like, Yo,
what are you doing. I'm like, I'm about to go
meet Luca. I'm like, we're about to do a jersey swap.
(05:22):
As soon as I say jersey swap, I realized I
forgot my jersey.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Oh fuck.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
I'm like, oh my gosh, I blew it. Like it's
where'd you go to the dicks? Right down the street?
Your jerseys everywhere I wear. So I was like, I
told him, like I don't he's about to give me
like a like a game jersey, Like I'm about to
give him one of my game ers.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Like so I'm like, we got it. We're traded, like
for real.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
For I don't want to give him like a something
off of like fanatis that's not like one of the
real ones. So I'm like, holy cow, what am I
about to do? Lucky Lee the freaking we do it
after game. So after game we got get we get
a jersey, my actual jersey. He gives me a pair
of shoes and we're sitting there taking photos by the tunnel,
and then ten seconds after we're done taking a photo.
Lebron James walks out of like their locker room. He's
(06:05):
like the media is kind of right there, and he
kind of he sees me. He's like, yo, I didn't
know you were coming into that. I'm like you, I
only come to watch you, bro, And then he's like, oh,
let me drop my yo. He's like, let me put
away in my yo.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Yo.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
He's like postgames call this stuff going on. He's like
and I'm like, I got this long sleeve like hoodie
and I'm like, I need to pull my sleeves up.
This needs to be the best dapth of my life.
Like it's Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Like, so I will wind up for clean clean smack tap.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
I'm like, oh well, He's like, what's up?
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Man? Like I was like, man, how to come watch
you and Luca? They won that game and then we
got to chop it up for a little bit. There's
kind of media around. He's like, man, you like you know,
I'm always rocking with you. And I was like, bro,
like every ounce and every cell in my body was
just screaming because like I I'm born in two thousand
and one. I've been watching Lebron James my entire life
ever since I remember watching basketball. He's been there. Now
(06:54):
I'm living in LA and he's like, yo, like I'm
rocking with you.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
I was, it was unreal, unreal. I got a quick question, though,
what's how you shoot? Is Luca ware?
Speaker 1 (07:04):
I think he's like a fourteen or fifteen because yeah,
because when i I'm assize thirteen and a half, I
wear some fourteens. He was like, yo, like, you got
good sized feet too, And I was like, I'm not
six six, but I'm like, I do got a big foot.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
So you gave him cleats?
Speaker 3 (07:16):
No?
Speaker 2 (07:16):
No, no, no, he said, what if Luca put on the cleats?
He's like on the hardwood? Oh my man, Lebron James
getting me. I've never met him. I've done a bunch
of stuff with his production company, Maverick. Yeah, and I've
met mav a few times. He's been real cool.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
He's bigger than you think too, right.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Oh yeah, they're all dude.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
I mean, other than rich Rich Paul is the only
like kind of small one. But maver Card, I'm like,
I have's big. Yeah, that looks like a basketball player.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
But you know, with Lebron now, that he's kind of
an underdog because of his age. I've jumped on his
wagon even harder because I I went to college at
Kent State and the year he got drafted, I was
in Northeast, Ohio, right down the street from where he
grew up an Akron. Really, I remember going to Chapel
Hill mom buying his first his first shoe, thinking it
(08:04):
was so cool being in Ohio with you know, Lebron
at the university. And I mean, it's been so remarkable
to see the longevity of this guy. Like he's forty
years old and he's punkin dudes. Still, it's unreal. It's
it's really a testament to how how hard he takes
his craft, his dedication to his body, and he's never
(08:29):
been in trouble. It's fucking nuts. Yeah, Like he's he's
the epitome of what a professional athlete should want to
be in his life. Regardless of what you think of
Lebron James, he is a fucking he's our generation's Jordan. Yeah,
set the standard for sure. It's been unreal.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I can't imagine being inaccurate at that time. Like while like, yeah,
it's the prime hype. Everybody waiting to see what Lebron
James was going to look like in the NBA, and
you're right there in the heat of it.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
In the heat. It was so crazy. They used to
have this big mural of like Josh Cribs on the
of the like it was like a Nike ad on
the side of the buildings in Cleveland, and as soon
as uh, I don't know, it was Lebron. And then
when Lebron left, they put Josh Cribs up there. But
Lebron owned that city man in that area. It was
so cool to be a part of What do you
like about Lebron?
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Well, I think that like the mental toughness of being
like man ever since I've walked in, even before I
was the number one pick in the NBA draft, of
like everybody was looking at me to be to be
the one to lead the way, to be the great one,
and like he's only surpassed everybody's expectations. Everybody's like, are
you going to be Michael Jordan? Are you going to
be Magda Johnson? And he just went out and became
Lebron James to everybody who now we know is the
(09:38):
fifty thousand leading the NBA. And as a basketball fan.
I'm like, I just I just love watching the game.
There's something that the fluidness and like the elusiveness that
is in the game of basketball that you don't get
in football in the exact same way that I'm like,
I could watch basketball all day, every day, Like there's
there's something about it.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
This is so soothing to the brain. Yeah, basketball, I've
I was never a basketball junkie. I played a little
aau that was always a football guy playing basketball. I
was always an athletic guy that could, you know, defend,
I could get to the hoop, But I was never
a basketball guy. It never came to me natural like
when you you cut and when you throw, you know,
(10:17):
like I was never a natural vision like I always
wanted to be, Like I wanted my basketball game to
feel like how I ran with the football, like that
vision on that field. Yeah, I see what I mean.
I never had that. That wasn't my gifts. But I've
the athleticism is unreal and you could see a lot
of the carryover from basketball guys. I've played with a
(10:39):
lot of guys. Aaron Hernandez was a phenomenal basketball player, really,
and you saw it in his route running. That's what
made him such a crazy route runner, like that elusiveness
and like the shoulder turn and also over at the
top of a route, yeah, one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
And then also like, man, like you're getting a second
level release, and like, man, that shoulder dip of when
like you do it in and out crossover or you're
like you're going through and like some was getting ready
to take a charge and you do a eurostep around
I'm like, those are all football movements, Like, yeah, they're
not maybe not in the same exact direction or the
same time of fluidness, but man, when when I when
I'm yeah, like I was saying, like you work a
second level release, So like I'm getting to the top
(11:14):
of the round, I'm like, all right, I'm about to
go one two right here, Like that's a euro step.
It may not be as fast and like the weight
shift might not be the same, but of like, man,
I'm going one two. That's exactly what I would do
in the basketball court as well.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Yeah, I mean, LA sports culture is at a pinnacle
right now. If you think about it, you got oh
Tani wearing your fucking jersey. How fucking cool is that?
That was?
Speaker 4 (11:35):
I went to my first Dodger gave the other day.
He hit the opening day, he hit home run.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
That course, that's all he does, right, but it is Yeah,
it's it's a pinnacle right now.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
The Rams Lakers are gonna have done this year and
then we're up next after him, like we're about to
do it two years back to back. I'm calling it
out because twenty six after they playing San Fran this year, yeah,
back back at your home, and then we come back
to so Far the year after so well, so fire,
people are gonna start saying the NFL is for sure, Brick.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
If we went it back at.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
So Far, that'd be sick. That would be sick. So
I saw some of these headlines. Bro, we got to
talk about it. We were retiring at thirty. Uh, first off,
first off, one player to another. This is between you
and I. No one's listening to this. Yeah, don't ever
tell the other side any age. Okay, we're talking negotiations.
(12:26):
I'll get you a couple more. Shekels. If it's there,
it's there, you don't say it.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Yeah, true, I mean I don't really think about it.
Like it was like they asked her the question, but
I was like, man, I know I want to I
want to go play overseas basketball. That's why I'm like,
I want I want to play football, and I want
to take that money. I want to go to some
LaMelo ball went to Lithuania, Like I'm sure I could
go to another country that only twenty five percent of
the world's ever heard before. Get ownership in the team
(12:52):
and go do the Michael Jordan roud. I'm get twenty
five shots up at night. I'm gonna be the coach.
I'm stub my own minuticin and then I'm gonna make
sure that we're getting ticket sales at the end of
like try to work some actual business.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Do it the right way.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
But in order to go buy that team, they don't
need to know that you're going to retire at thirty.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
Yeah, because we're trying to get them exactly. You're trying
to get them after we win that Super Bowl, hopefully.
I'm like, once we win them, I hopefully it will
be a done deal. There's no questions about it. Like
they want me to stay here, hopefully make La my home,
Like we'll take over Hell.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Yeah, that sounds like the dopest retirement playing of all time.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Just go to Latvia and be the man balling.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
The joker guy wants to just retire, right Donkeys, he
wants to retire, go to his hometown and buy a
team and play maybe and coach.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
It player coach, owner, coach. Oh, I got that would rule.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Work it all out. Yeah. Now let's jump into this
spring part of your offseason. Like, what's a point of
emphasis that you're trying to add to your game that
you've learned over the last couple of years, through your
first two years in the league. What if you wanted
to focus on going into like OTAs in many camps,
(13:57):
what's one thing for you individually that you've been wanting
to work on. How do you work on it?
Speaker 1 (14:03):
I think like my short area quickness is definitely something
that we've been working like with Coop, And when we
do some of our conditioning stuff, it's not necessarily Yeah,
we have our sprint days where we're doing some of
that stuff, but also being like all right on Tuesdays
when we do some more conditioning stuff, it's like, oh,
we're hear in our box, we're working our releases, like
we got the cones, this is your cut off marks
quick fee or it's working a one two release, get skinny,
(14:25):
and then this is our box. It can only work
in this area because I feel like I with our offense,
we do a lot of motions. I'm going across the field,
so some of that stuff is like okay, endurance and
like all right, now I'm getting ready to break leverage
and stuff like that. But now we'd be like all
right to be able to be lined up one on
one on the back side and be like, all right,
whatever route it is is short area quickness. I'm like,
(14:45):
I just got one guy to be like Matthew. I
trust him with every ounce of my body. I know
he's going to put the ball wherever it needs to be.
Of like, all right, I got an out route and
on backside and we just motioned away. We're in one
by three now and it's me up and I got
the outrun, Like you know, this is our U's gonna
get thrown ten times out of ten because in the
short aira quickness when I get when I get to
my shoulder here and I'm at the top of the rout,
I'm one two and I'm winning. So short air quickness,
(15:07):
I think, because that also involves like being at the
light of scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
But I think especially like once we once we get
into the.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Top of the road of being like all right, I
need to separate at the top instead of just be
like ah, I like the job as a receiver, catch
the ball no matter what, but also being like all right, now,
if I can make my our quarterbacks job even easier,
I'm like, man, the success we could have of being
like all right, he doesn't have to pinpoint it to
put it in one spot, throw it in the area.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
I'll come down with it. Yeah, So you're about to report,
So do you break down these drills top routes and
you just redo those a bunch of times, And that's
what you're doing. You're specializing in one particular route or
the top of a route, an incut or not necessarily
just like one specific route.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
I mean, we work our crow breaks, we work our nineties,
but what's the ninety sure like our incuts and like outcuts,
like well when we have a bench route and stuff
like that.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
So yeah, in six up, what is it eighteen twenty?
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yeah, and then we have like quar yep, we have
and then we have like our true like because I mean,
some of our stuff is inside the numbers, so like
when we run a bench round, it's not always outside
of the numbers, which is something hopefully, I mean with
DeVante Adams, like, it'll be a little bit of a
different look I think, hopefully, I.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Mean, or the game's always evolving.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Coach me Fay steaking faster and I think than any
most of these offensive coaches out here, So I'm excited
to see what the new the new thing is going
to look like for us in the Rams offense. But yeah,
kind of just breaking it down and say, all right,
we're doing our release right here, then we're working at
the middle of the route right here, our drive phase,
and then we'll work at the top of the route decelerating. Well, yeah,
I like one thing, like a phrase that I come
(16:38):
up with me and Coople I kind of came up
with while we're talking about some of this stuff, is
like there's always everybody talks about acceleration and deceleration, especially
at our position.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
That's what you got to do.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
And I was like, man like, yeah, you want to.
Coach always says you want to run out of your
brakes like that, you never want to. Just I'll get
to my break and now I kind of ooze back
to the ball and stuff like that. So I was like, man,
this changed like my my thought my thought process of like, Man,
I'm accelerating down.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
I'm not decelerating.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
I'm accelerating down because at the top of the route,
I'm like, Okay, I gotta continue to I want to
keep that energy that I have into the break out
of the break. So I being like, yo, I don't
want to tell myself that I'm slowing down. I'll be like, yo,
I'm accelerating down. Because when you're good at the top
of the route, whether it's a crow route or you're
breaking an incut or an outcut, your body language should
go down. So that's when something I'm like trying to
(17:22):
completely change my mindset be like, Yo, I'm accelerating down
because I need to keep this energy out of the
break because then I'm like, you are to have to
catch easy money after that.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
You create more separation the tighter you come back and
when you come back, so then you can get that rack.
DeVante Adams, that's a big addition. I think he's gonna
be a huge help for you guys, being able to
be a guy that could win on the backside. Outside
the numbers consistently, something you guys kind of lack last year,
(17:51):
like or red area target. You guys would do all that, Hey,
and then you get in the red area and Higgsby
was a little banged up. So having Davante there, that's
gonna be huge. What what are you gonna have? You
guys talked a little bit when he came out of
science contract. I think he's still been out in Vegas,
but I wanted one first.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
I want to hit him on the basketball court too,
because I'm like, I feel like I always see it
like yeah, as a wide receiver, I feel like that
you see it, like how they kind of.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Moved through that on the basketball court.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
But I know he's a big basketball fan too, and
I'm like, we'll get up what I'm for sure he's
gonna show up to OTAs.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
We're gonna get a lot of routes and we're gonna
talk about him.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
Like, once I can see you on the basketball court,
I think I can understand how you think about football too,
Like you got that similar movement pattern is gonna come out.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
I think, yeah, so what what did would you do
for seventeen?
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Like what did he that's a man. So it was
so fun.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
I would the number you give you a couple Uh,
I wish he got it for the free ski free
Did you play Pig?
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Were you gonna play Pig? No?
Speaker 1 (18:49):
No, he definitely didn't beat me in Pig, No chance,
so that that didn't happen. But I was already planning
to switch to twelve, so you know, you gotta fire
file the paperwork and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
They got to buy out your jerseys and stuff like that.
I'm like, still a fifth round pick.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
I'm like they asked like how, They're like, uh, it's
will be five hundred thousand to switch your jersey. I'm like,
I think you forgot When I got drafted, I was
like I don't got that type of money.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
I was like for a jersey number, doll, that's time.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
I'm like, no, so you fail out. The paperwork had
to wait a whole year.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
So this year was like I was getting ready to
like the springtime, once that official season March or whatever
it is they switch over, I was gonna be going
to number twelve. And it's like we signed Davante Adams
and everybody's like, yo, what are you about to do?
Speaker 2 (19:27):
And I'm like man.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
If I would have waited, I would have waited like
three more weeks, Like I would have.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Came up five hundred.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
I know.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
That's what I'm saying, mil You go five hundred. There,
you get a couple here, and then then we got
a fun trip in the off season.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Know, that's why I could took the guys out. But
now Davante's got to do. I'm make sure.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Hold. I think you need a couple more Jewish people
in your life. I'm just letting you know. But you
can't be talking about age and you can't be getting
impatient with number changes a couple of bill Yeah exactly.
You know. So you talk so much about your relationship
with Cooper Cup and I've heard you say he's been
(20:10):
a huge help and he took that role of helping you. Like,
can you talk about your relationship with Cooper Cup and
what he's meant and what you guys have learned, and
how it's gonna be, how you're gonna feel when he leaves. Yeah,
when he's gone.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yeah, he is gone now, except I'm gonna see him
two times a year, so that'll be exciting.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
I told him.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
I'm like, well, I'm like if you're I'm gonna make
sure somebody's going for one fifty.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I'm like, we're pushing each other. I'm gonna be out there.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
I never really talk back, and I know Cooper Cup,
out of all people, doesn't talk smack either, So I'm like,
that might be the only day I come out there.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Yeah, and I'll be like, I know that guy.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
I'm like, we spend the off season together, and it's
it's been it's been a true blessing to be around
him the first two years of my career and absolutely
be everywhere with him in the facility, get to learn
from him, spend the off season together, workout, learn what
it's like to be a professional athlete and a wide
receiver who's doing at the top of his game right
(21:06):
now and it's been at the top of the league,
who's won a Super Bowl, MVP like.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
And just to watch it and I feel like I was.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Stealing, Like I didn't like now that he's like realizing
that it's gone and being like, oh cow, Like I
was right next to this guy. I was in the
breakfast club with Matthew Stafford, Cooper Cup, and Coach mcvaghiam.
Like some of the best football minds currently right now
in the NFL and like to hang it, like to
where the to where the jersey with him? I'm like,
I think about man, the Eagles game, his first game back,
(21:35):
and we got to line up information next to each
other and being like.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Yo, like this is real, Like Cooper Cup's out here.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
I'm playing football with Cooper Cup right now and like
what it felt like when I got called out before
him and then they call it Cooper Cup number ten.
He has a song play and the whole stadium is
like Coo and being like.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
What it's happening like all through like training camp.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Oh he got hurt during trade camp rookie year, and
like he came back and I was like everybody you
could feel like the leadership and then also like the
football player of being like he controls, he knows what's
going on.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
It made it so fun. Yeah, he's a pro. I
remember when as a young Buck we used to work
out together at Golden West, the hot Spot. I remember
he was coming off an injury. I threw with Matthew
a couple of times. Oh man, he can light it up.
What do you gotta do to get in this goddamn
breakfast club? I mean the cool name, you got McVeigh,
(22:31):
you got with, you got Stafford Cup. That's it. Exclusivity.
Soho home membership. How do you get in this thing? Hopefully?
Speaker 1 (22:40):
I'm like, they didn't ask me for any membership for you,
so but shoot, you got to get up there earlier.
Like That's one of the things I was like that helped.
I was watching Cooper and I changed my routine of like, man,
during season, I'm normally in bed at least by nine thirty, like,
if not, like going to bed by nine thirty, so
I could wake up and be up at thirty five
(23:00):
forty five, so I could get to the facility at
six o'clock.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
And they've already and I would be the almost the
last one there.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
They've already been there, like they're watching and they've probably
gone through the last practice, and now we're about to
start watching the explosive from all the other teams across
the league. And I'm like, so I come in for
the back half and then we rerun the tape. Me
and Cooper back all right, now we're going to watch
the receivers at the end while either Matthew's going to
grab coffee, they grabbing breakfast and then like, can we
kind of sit there, Yeah, watch all the tape and
it be like all right, I keep them updating on
like the newest slang terms because I'm like those two guys,
(23:28):
I'm like, boo, yeah, one coup probably never actually have
gone on social media. And then Matthew, I don't think
he even knows he has an Instagram.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Damn April fools yesterday that he has.
Speaker 5 (23:42):
He's all tanned up.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Do you see that Stafford has a full sleeve?
Speaker 5 (23:45):
That was the news yesterday April.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
If I ever seen that, that's a boot. That's such
a dad joke right there, he is. Matt's cool freaking Uh.
You know I, when I hear you talk about it,
I was in the same similar situation, you know. I
we had Wes Welker when I got drafted, and uh,
it's so good for a young player to get to
(24:11):
learn from a guy who's a buck. Like you got
to learn the routine of Cooper Cup. I got to
learn the routine of West Walker. I got to learn
the practice habits of Wes Woker, Randy Moss, Like when
you're around certain players, that's so good for the development
of a young football player, if that young football player
(24:33):
wants to learn and is in that back pocket. I
was in West's back pocket all the time. He didn't
always want to help me, but I was. Anytime he
could go, I go right behind him because I knew
he was the best at doing it, and I wanted
to do what he did, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Like, Yeah, when you're there, you're run at Indie drills
and like everybody's getting ready to line up, and I'm like, yo,
I'm gonna make my way to the front, right behind. Yeah,
I'm gonna make my way to the front to be
number two, just so I can watch him. Go watch
his whole rap. Watch how he' like doing everything, whether
it's routes on air, it was the cone drills, or
he were going up in one on ones, like like yeah,
(25:06):
And then when I got to go run the reps
with him, I'm like, all right, Coop, like hey, we
got this, or like we're lined up two by two
and we're going to wear in a stack and it's
me and Coop would be like, all right, what are
you about to do right here? I'm like and he'd
be like, all right, I think I'm about to get
inside leverage and then I'm gonna work in I'm a
cross face and then I'm a one two at the
top and be like all right, and we're like we're
as we're going out, like we're still kind of talking
and be like oh, and then you watch him say
(25:26):
exactly do exactly what he said was gonna happen to
be like, holy cow, Like this is how football should
feel like. Man, there's a different type of feeling when
you get to go and watch somebody because they're giving
all these cues that man, you're like, oh, I just
have my I have my cornder route right here.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
I'm gonna go.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
I'm gonna find a way. And he's like, all right, No,
it's gonna look like this. He's gonna roll down, he's
gonna play outside leverage. I'm gonna get to his inside shoulder.
I'm a one to them at the top and I'm
gonna win. And then he would go one to them
at the top and he would win and be like damn, Coop.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Reps time on task. Cooper Cup has a lot of them,
and you're building a lot of them right now. Yeah.
You know, I watch a lot of your film. I
seeing you on that backside as necks hit that slant route,
great release, cross face, get him running up field, flip
his hips, getting cut his face. You're done really good
with that. You're really great with the ball in your hands.
You're strong through contact, you make contested catches a bunch,
(26:15):
and you're one of the one things that I was
really impressed with, which is probably from your basketball, is
the way you stack guys. So like when you have
a bow route and the guy plays outside leverage and
you bend it on him, you kind of lean on
him and leave the quarterback a spot up field for
him to throw in that bucket. It's kind of like
a basketball stack. So you have a lot of great
(26:37):
tools and I'm excited to watch. You know, you going
into your second, your second real go around, because last
year were banged up at the first. This is your
first healthy offseason. This is your first healthy you know
you're the buck. They're gonna be building around you. You
know this is gonna be a fun year. Yeah, I'm excited.
I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
I'm like, like, after you get it, you get a vacation,
you start, you start getting back on the football field.
You're like, Okay, I'm ready for the off season kind
of be over. I'm like, I want to be by
the guys. Let's get back in the facility. I'm like,
we were talking about golf earlier. I'm like, I need
If that's what it If that's what it takes to
get everybody to hang out, I'll be out there on
the golf course.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
I mean it may not look good, but I'll be
out there. You know what. Hey, as long as you
have that energy. Yeah, good things will always happen. Good
things always happen. Now, how was it growing up in Vegas?
Speaker 1 (27:23):
There's there's nothing like it. It's the best place in
the world, for sure. I believe that it was hot.
It was hot. I think that's where it definitely, so.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
This is easy for you. Then when it's one ten
over there.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
Yeah, it's way different over there.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Yeah, but like that's why I'm like, man, the tar,
the tar outside all of the streets, like when we
used to be running outside or hot like hot like
burn your socks right off. So like, but it was
it was so fun. I loved it out there. And
that's where I mean I first started playing football. That's
where my memories are. I and then everything kind of
took off from there.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Who were your sports teams growing up? If you're from Vegas.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
I was a Packers fan and and Hackers.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Who's Aaron Rodgers Jesus?
Speaker 1 (28:07):
But so my family, uh and my mom's full saw
more and my dad like grew up in Hawaii, so
like one of the Polynesian team, the Steelers. Everybody, yeah,
Troy palm mall. Everybody loves him. So I was like, okay,
they were fans. So I was like, oh, being the youngest,
we didn't have any team. I was like, I kind
of want to choose against everybody. So I remember in
when they played the Packers and they won, and I'll
be like, man, I'm glad I chose the right team.
(28:29):
And then the Steelers won it the year after, and
then like so and then most of my family they
grew up like your fans, because both my parents were
from California. And then I had gone to a Thunder
game with little Dana. We had gone to a football
camp out there in Oklahoma, and then we went to
a Thunder game and I was like, Yo, that was unreal.
I don't think anybody in the stadium sat down for
(28:49):
forty eight minutes straight, like wide out people are rocking.
They beat the Spurs in a playoff game they got
the Young Thunder. I was like, yo, this is my
new favorite team.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
That was hard and durant like Ibaka, like they had home.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
It was a crazy and like this is two thousand
and thirteen Spurs. So like they like Tony Parker, Tim Duncan,
those guys aren't that old, Like I mean they get
ready to win a championship like in a year and
a half two years later and it was wild geez.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
So like are all the people now that grow up
in Vegas, are they all like adopting the new Vegas teams?
Speaker 1 (29:20):
I think so one hundred percent, especially like the I
think the Raiders has been a little bit different because
I mean I feel like a lot of people out here,
like in the southern California, they got it.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
They have a I think they have a Southwest like
region that follows them because of Oakland, LA. And then
there's Raiders fans everywhere.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Yeah that is true one hundred percent, but I know
like they'd love Everybody loves the Knights out there, especially
like you come in your first season.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
And you win it, Like I feel like that's you.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
Gonna write it any better for that and yeah that
they've been rocking with the hockey team over.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
There for sure.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
So you grew up with little Dana, Little Dana and
then Aid and too. So we played me and both.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Of the Dana Little Dana White, Yeah, little.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Dana White and then Aid and two like he was
number twelve.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
He was our quarterback.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
That was a guy on the show.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
He was great.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
We didn't really throw the ball.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
I mean I think maybe our second year we started
throwing the ball. But our coach had coached at Oklahoma
and was and he had coached DeMarco Murray at Bishop Gorman.
So we weren't just our little league team. Like we
had to hurry up offense like we were doing like
we had rocket like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Get up there the bar in Oklahoma for the Pop
Order team were come on, we were working.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
We were trying to win. I mean, I don't think
we ever we won.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
A Pop Warner. Yeah this is did you win a
super Bowl? Yep? We won a Super Bowl? How many
three of them? We then Orlando?
Speaker 1 (30:37):
No no no, no, I wish oh we didn't go to Orlando,
No no no.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
But the baby.
Speaker 7 (30:44):
Redwood City team No redw City shout out Frank Edelman.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
We beat the Naperville Redskins. Thank god for that field
goal kick, that bit right in Chris Reese the middle
screen touchdown. Dude, those are some of the funnest times
when you got to we got to go miss a
week of school right before Christmas break to go to
Disney World to play two football games. We're twelve years old. Yeah,
(31:10):
that's unbeatable right there. Unbeatable.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Yeah, staying up late, going to like hang out with
the friends, just running around the hotel being a menace
to everybody else, staying there like that was the best time.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Did late little Dana did he throw like the sickest
parties in high school? Like he had the sick house. Sure,
I can't we when I want to remember, No.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Man, no parties, no fu fucking bro coach.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
The pool, the pool used to like basketball pool games
like with those were always the most hectic. I feel
like they always ended with somebody getting drowned or somebody
having a broken nose, like they got they got intense.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Everybody was trying to win.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
So fucking gaylord fokker over here, remember that bloody knows
meet the parents. So what you got two bros in
the UFO. They both scored this last weekend.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
Yeah, opened a weekend or sweet tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
So who do they play for? The Michigan Panthers, both
of them, both of them?
Speaker 3 (32:05):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
My brother Samson plays wide receiver and then my brother
Kai plays safety. He was the he's the bigger body.
He's a little bit slow now he's Yeah, I saw him.
He was a little big, gas on his pig six.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
He's running.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
He's at the twenty yards and I'm like, oh, you
still got a ways to go, budd, you better.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
Not slow that on that much.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
So how many how many of the Nikouas are there
in the house?
Speaker 4 (32:24):
I got five brothers and one sister.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
She's tough.
Speaker 4 (32:28):
She probably beat me up.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
More than my brothers, and honestly, and there's like she.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Knew at what age like we would be able to
like beat her up or like fight back and be like,
all right, you can't win anymore. Like my sister used
to just like pin us down and like punch you
in the lake until she like she knew she gets
you with the Charlie horse, like she find the spot
and just like keep that and then it was probably
like seventh or eighth grade, where was like, all right,
she tried to pin me to the ground.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
I was like and I got up and I was like,
all right, it's over.
Speaker 4 (32:54):
This is my turn. I've been waiting for this moment.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
So you got four brothers, four of you guys. Everyone
balls in football.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Yeah, my younger brother, he's a he's a red shirt
freshman at b YU right now.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
He's a wide receiver too. He's a giant.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
And then my two older brothers, all my three older brothers, Kai, Isaiah,
and Samson, we all. Kai was at b YU and
then Isaiah was there after him. He ended up tearing
his achilles and kind of ended his football career. And
then Samson, Me and Samson played together at b YU,
and then my younger brother there is right.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Now, how's b YU.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
It's a special place.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
It's a special place, so I think there's there's it's
beautiful back there.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
But yeah, I've been to I've been to Park City,
and I've been to Salt Lake for a UFC fight.
They've only had knockouts in Salt Lake for the UFC.
Right who was Yeah, I was there for the Luke
Rock Hole.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Yeah, and Costa fight yeah, oh my, how nasty and
bloody was that one.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
That was he was getting he was letting him hit him,
and he was just fucking brude because then he was like, see, Luke,
he's crazy.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
It was a wild one. But it's beautiful, the mountains,
the backdrop. B r U, Like there's there's nothing like
that alumni base. No, no, no, not I Yu for
sure not.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
It's it's like what do you guys do on the weekend,
Like everyone goes on hikes.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Yes, that's that's true Saturday Saturday morning at the Propo
Rec Center. That's pick up basketball obviously not doing football seasons.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
But like, so who's the bad kid on the team
that like remember like in Heavyweight save you're seen that
movie Heavyweights? No, I haven't were they they're the fat
camp where they they'd go to this one area where
all the fat kids would they would hide their candy
at the camp. Was there anyone like that had booze
on on campus? No?
Speaker 1 (34:35):
Oh no, I mean b YU is like you would
get in do you get in so much trouble? Like
people would rat you out, like yeah you mcdaddy, Yeah,
there are some snakes over there for sure, Like.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
What about our Jake Reds laugh. Yeah, that's our guy.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
I'm like rocking them twelve right now, by g Yeah,
you were taking over.
Speaker 4 (34:54):
We need it the time.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Exactly slowly, slowly. He's a good kid. He can sling
it really well. They got they've played, they played really
well last year.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
They got a couple of whiteouts. Hopefully on my little brother.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
I think now he's he's finally started to lift some
weights and actually listen to the advice I think I've
given him, So I think hopefully maybe I'll see the receiver.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Yeah, tall, he's run, bro, don't ever get tired. Just say,
if you can run like the wind, if you could
be the same player in the first quarter that you
are in the set of the fourth quarter. Yeah, Like
he'd be surprised on how many how many wins you'll
get from that, just how your winloadage. We'll go up
forty five percentage on just on your plays like plus
(35:34):
plus negative system. Yeah, if you can outrun people all
the time.
Speaker 7 (35:40):
Sounds like a guy that Ransom Hills in his day
ran a lot of them, ran a lot of them.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
What about the big ten twelve? Are we gonna make
this jump? Are we gonna be all right, b Yu.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
I think so.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
I mean last year wasn't too bad. It's the whole
recruiting game. I think that'll be interesting. I think, being
now that boy has been independent for so long. Now
they got to go against all these guys who've been
recruiting these kids.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
For a long time.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
So like everybody knows, so I think a little bit.
But he's got we got the nil funds too, so
we're working.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
We're working Mormons. They got some sacks now they got
they got in and out and in and out prints money.
We'll be right back after this quick break, Let's go
into a segment where we go back into time around
where the game took place. Now we've done a lot
of old, old cool games. This game took place what
two years ago? Number one movie, Equalizer three love shoutout Denzel,
(36:27):
Shout out Denzel Undefeated right there. I remember everything by
Zach Bryant and Casey Musgraves, you country guy.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
I actually do know this song because I went to
go see Zach Bryant out here at Crypto and we
got on stage with him.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
It was how was it?
Speaker 4 (36:40):
It was unreal?
Speaker 1 (36:41):
The Okay, Now I'm like, I sound like the total
fraud because I can't think of the song.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
What's it's not this song? What's his most famous? Like Omono,
I don't know what is. I love Zach Bryant too,
I just don't know him by like names like that.
I know I like his ship.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
They sing the song like five times.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
I'm telling like Crypto, everybody is seeing it word for
word and we're up there on stage.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
Something in the orange.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Not something that's a little bit of a slower solid
for pinks, guys. Not another one going down South? Maybe
I remember everything going down South. It is a good one.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
Oklahoma Smoke Show. That's a good one.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
I remember Motorcycle.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Oh man, he's.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Got a lot of what's on the pregame playlist?
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Oh I'm a I listened to Drake. I got some
little Baby in there, some future. I like, that's hype
songs for sure, like when you pull up. We pulled
it so far. I'm into like the Little Players a lot.
I'll sit in the car for maybe five minutes and
let like a couple of my songs, like my go
to songs go through. Like there's nothing like musically, Like
headphones are cool when you're in the car and you
can turn it all the way up and just absolutely
jam out. That's top tier for me. So like I'll
(37:49):
pull up and sit there. I'm like full blast and
like people are walking by, They're like, what do you do?
I'm like, I just gotta listen to my last couple
of songs before I get out.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
I loved driving to the game, and like I usually
drove it in a coop car, you know, small fast
car we can drive. Yeah, some cool car, feeling like
Batman with my fucking music blaring, like I'm about to
go in storm the beaches of Normandy.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Hell yeah, there's that. Yeah, the same thing. I got
a little Toyota Super. We pull up right next to
so Far. I'm like that first three lights, I'm hitting it.
I got to hit at least one hundred miles per hour. Like, yeah,
it's not I tell you man, it's it's a new wave.
It's a new wave.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
They are.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
No but I got I'm telling you that Super is rare.
I'm like, some people pull up to me and they
give me a little thumbs up because Super it's a
it's an exclusive, exclusive car.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
I had the little Coop. That's why I'm like a
little too.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
Was a portion of eleven turbo ash. But I mean definitely,
I don't like that. You don't like that? Yea revival?
Speaker 1 (38:54):
Is that the shout out Billy, thank you Billy.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl. Lamar Jackson, MVP Michigan,
Natty Heisman, Jaden Daniels. What the fuck? How good was
his rookie? That's unreal. He defied a lot of shit.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Everything changed around him, like they made it work for him,
and he looked like he was in a smooth, comfortable
spot all the time.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
New owner, new quarterback, new identity. Like people don't realize.
When I was a kid, when they were the Redskins,
that stadium was like the biggest stadium in the National
Football League. It held like over ninety eight thousand people.
They were huge. They had the Gibbs days where they
(39:39):
were winning Super Bowls in the eighties. This was like
one of the most loved franchises and it went to
like the absolute dog shit gutters for a long time,
and now they're like on their way up. I got
to meet the owners before the Super Bowl and talk
to them and see how excited they were. The Harris family,
I believe, and they loved having Jay like, that's that's
(40:03):
like hitting lottery getting this kid. I love, I love
Cliff Kingsbury, their offensive coordinator. I love Dan Quinn, their
head coach. But that's a lottery ticket. That's a lottery too.
That's that's gonna make that organization so prominent and good
for a long time if he continues to stay healthy
and continues to be on the trajectory that he's doing. Man,
(40:26):
I was excited for him. They got to run through
us in the NFC, so he yea make it all
the way.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
He's gonna make it all the way to uh the
championship game that's not the Super Bowl, and then luck
ones out right there.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
I like that. I like it. Hey let them know,
let them know, let the boys watch. All right, Let's
jump into the San Francisco forty nine ers and get
into this game.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
Breaking on this team, these Niners real quick.
Speaker 7 (40:53):
Twenty twenty three nine ers twelve and five season went
to the Super Bowl. Kyle Shanahan John Lynch, seventh year old,
that duo GM head coach Combo first full season with
Rock Purty at the helm. You remember the year before
was when he took over and then got knocked out
in the NFC title game, and quarterback right a brutal,
brutal got out to a hot start five and zero
(41:15):
drop three straight, won six straight.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (41:18):
This was a loaded offense debo. Kittle, McCaffrey, ayuk All
going for over one thousand yards, led the league interceptions
with twenty two, second in total offense almost four hundred
yards a game.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
This was. This was a good Niners team.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
It's a good Niners team. This is Week two, though,
and this is a early Guys know very well, very
well rock perty Is he gonna get a five? I
don't think so. Do you think he's gonna go with
a four? It's gonna start with a four? Yeah? High four?
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Mm No, I think mid for forty five, I think so.
I mean, I think if he does that, that'd be
smart for him and them. Yeah, I mean, I think
he's he seems like a smart guy. I don't think
he like They're still they have a chance to still
be in their window. And I think if he goes
for a five, then the window closes.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
Right coming from division rival.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
I mean, yeah, as long as they got Fred on
the other side, I think they'll be able to figure
some things out.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
So Fred Warner, how fucking how is it competing against
together like him? I saw him doing a tribal dance
when when they were doing a joint practice with the Raiders,
he was sniffing grass and doing stuff, and I got
scared before the practice started when I saw him doing that. Shit.
How is it competing against him over the middle when
(42:36):
you are eating over there? No, it's a wild place.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
I remember when we played them just this past year
where we ran like a dagger concept and he's opening
up to the field and then like he completely like
he meets me at the inside edge of the numbers,
like I make my in cut and he's right their
way from we run into each other and he kind
of steps on my foot and he kind of falls over,
and I was like, oh, like hopefully they get the
clip or like a photo of just this at the
end where it's like friends on the floor and I'm
(43:00):
standing up because I'm like, I'm just gonna tell him, like, oh,
this was a run play and I've blocked him twenty
five yards down the field, but he he takes up
so much space, like and he can run, he can,
and then he fits so well in the run game
like he's it's it's something about BYU man the Kuks.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
We produced some good guys, Kylevinoy.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
That's right baby.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Now when you like I remember playing against you know,
my division opponents and you knew that, like the guys
that you were going against, who's the guy that you
have to go against a lot from this gen this
team this year? And then like who are some of
the guys that you know it's gonna be a long day?
They talk shit? Their confidence got like which which of
these guys you know that it's gonna be a long day? Talk?
Speaker 4 (43:44):
Shoot Greenlaw? Greenlaw was talking.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
I remember that for Swift like it's been my rookie year,
like this is only game two, Like yeah, I'm like
we had a good first game and we won. But
of being like yo, like I'm still figuring a lot
of this out, like I'm scar like I need to
focus everything on me because if I focus on somebody else,
I'm gonna mess up my job.
Speaker 2 (44:01):
Now, how is what's his what's his ship talking? Like
is he talking to you pre snap? Like no, nothing
pre snap.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
But it was like when he tackled me, No, I
definitely can't let that happen but I remember like he
tackled me a couple of times and like, man, you
know linebackers, I got exert dominance, Like.
Speaker 4 (44:21):
He punched at the ball for no reason.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
We're already down and like the whistles being blown and
he's like he's getting his extra punching and he's like, yeah,
you better stay down, like I'm tackling you again, like
and then once once that one. It was one early
in the game, and then that got Fred talking because
then I remember how went over the middle of Fred
and Hufonga and the corner ended up all hitting me
at the same time, and I ended up at the
bottom of the pile and Fred was like, yeah, Pook,
(44:43):
it's just getting started.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
And I was like, oh, we're in for a long
one today. Now. When you see whu funga, do you
guys give a little leo?
Speaker 1 (44:50):
No, no, we could have Like no, it wasn't like that.
Speaker 2 (44:55):
Man, he can't.
Speaker 1 (44:59):
I remember, we we're running freaking duo were I got,
I got my push, crack the corners off, I'm going
to get him.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
I'm like safety something like the same thing. I'm like,
there was no head no.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
So I'm like this means we're going full go right now.
So I load up and he loaded up and hit me.
I'm is this stalemate We've both stood each other up
And I was like, all right, I think the run's
over by now. And I was like, all right, hopefully
I don't have to do that again, because like, I
don't know if I can do that. Was like just
straight downhill. I was like, holy cow, there's no gather.
He just like went full speed into I was like.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Oh, Jamal Adams used to do that. He used to
He wouldn't even get He didn't even care about the
goddamn run play. He literally would take that play and
just knock me out every time. He knocked me out
the club four or five times in one game we
were running thirty yards right.
Speaker 4 (45:44):
By him knocked me out.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
The fucking gag because I would go ahead of one
hundred mile an hour. He can come at me a
hundred mole and that motherfucker get hit. Yeah, Holy yeah,
I hate having to dig out that force. What about
Christian McCaffrey, Like what a stud? Are we go?
Speaker 3 (45:58):
Is he gonna?
Speaker 2 (45:59):
Is he gonna get healthy? This sh I think? So?
Speaker 1 (46:01):
I mean shoot the workout, like I mean, he looks
jacked all the time. So I mean his workout plans
got to be great, right. I'm like, there's nobody I've
never seen somebody who's like a calf like calves like his,
Like he's got tremendous calves, And I'm like, I think
that's got to be a part of the speed.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
I'm like, I wasn't built with like that. I'm like,
change direction is usually a calf thing. Deon Sanders used
to say, you ain't never seen calves on a race horse.
That's what Dion said, because he didn't. Deon had the
high bird calves. Some the real fast fast guys. He's
got that, like generational his grandpa was fast ship. But
like the real fast guys they have those high bird calves. Yeah,
(46:39):
where they're small, but they're up there. Those are burners.
Yeah go look at But yeah, he's he's a baller.
Speaker 1 (46:49):
He is he's at his contact balance and like his
ability to like transition out of out of the second.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
Level to run by everybody. It's hard to get like that.
So what's your mindset going into this week when you're
when you're playing this team San Francisco forty nine ers,
you know it's this is a two game win. Yeah,
because if you beat them, you're putting them down a game,
and you're joining you're going up a game. This is
a two win game. And this is a division rival
where this team probably dominated the Rams for a long
(47:18):
time eighties, nineties, early two thousands, then the Rams started
getting good with Bulger, and then then it went back
to the Niners. Now you guys have been kind of
taking this is there's a lot of historic rivalry here.
One hundred percent. So what is it like? Is the
intensity kicked up a little more? Is McVeigh got a
little pep in his step because he gets to go
against his fucking boy Shanahan? Like is there is there?
(47:41):
There's got to be some kind of juju going on
in that facility one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
You feel like as soon as we flew back from
Seattle that week before, it is like, all right, everybody
knew it was nineer week. Like, no, don't don't show
up to the facility wearing a red outfit, like we're
having our our The team meeting is happening on Monday
when we show up. It's not waiting till Wednesday. Like
they're like, all right, this is the mindset for the
week we're coming in. This is a game plan. Is
(48:05):
like I'm sure there is like an energy boost from
coach McVay because he is going against Shanahan. But he tries,
he keeps he keeps it nice and cool. He does
he does show a lot of emotion and he gets rolling.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
In the team meetings.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
But I remember thinking of, like this is our first
home game, Like I'm a little nervous, like what is
it gonna look like? And I freaking Bobby Wagner the
week before and I thought broke one of my ribs.
So I'm like, uh, like during practice, like I got
this big old pad and like, guys aren't hitting me.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
So I'm like I'm trying to make sure.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
I'm like I know I'm about to go up against
Fred Warder, so I'm like, I gotta at least got
to hit one day. I at least got to get
hit one day during the week because if I don't
go in there, I'm during I get hit.
Speaker 2 (48:41):
By Fred the first play of the game, Like it's
gonna hurt and it might take me out. Yeah, But
I just remember like.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
Still just being kind of like in in like shock
of like this is what's going on for me right now?
Like first week went so well, second week now, like
and then when you come out to the pregame, like
everybody's wearing red, Like the lower bulls already filled up
and everybody in the stadiums were in red.
Speaker 2 (49:04):
I'm like, yo, it's supposed to be our first home game,
like and everybody's like get used to it. When we
play the Niners, everybody shows up.
Speaker 4 (49:10):
Like wearing red.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
Bang bang, just like a sea of red. It was.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
It was crazy and like come out and do the
intros and it's like, am I are people cheering?
Speaker 4 (49:19):
Or is everybody booing?
Speaker 2 (49:20):
Like it's like it's like just random noise and just
was like boo, And I'm like, what the heck?
Speaker 1 (49:24):
Like it doesn't feel right because I'm like in high school,
I mean college b or you home games like you
like you go to some crazy teams like this is
our field, this is our home feeling everybody is wearing
the opposite color of what we're supposed to be wearing.
Like but uh yeah, I just the intro I remember,
like took me for like a world where of being
like yo, they just called my name and every we
just got booed as as like our whole our whole intro,
everybody got booed and like this can't be real, right.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
Those Niner fans they travel, It's not just here, they
travel everywhere. It's people don't realize there's got a lot
of history over there in the nation. Yeah, is that
your team growing up? How's my team growing up? Ricky Waters,
Steve Young, Steve Young?
Speaker 4 (50:07):
B YU guy, you just can't get rid of the
b YU.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
Can't due, can't b YU dudes are everywhere. My agent,
Carter Chow, his dad was the head coach of b YU.
Wasn't he Norm? Wasn't Norm the head coach of BYU? Oh? Yeah? Nor?
Speaker 3 (50:19):
He was on the staff in a lot of different capacities.
I love by from seventy three all the way up
to ninety nine.
Speaker 8 (50:25):
He might have been on the Heisman? Was it Ti
Deppner when the Heisman? Maybe he might have been like
in there because he was.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
In USC ninety nine. I mean he had to be
there for when they won the national championships. Yeah he was,
and then he went to USC. That's when he started
going U C l A and all that. He went
to the PAC twelve because that's when by U was
in the Mountain West, but they were still getting packed
ten talent. And then they go beat up on all
the mount West teams and then they play like a
(50:51):
pack ten school and knock them off. Yeah, that's the
b YU way.
Speaker 3 (50:55):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (50:55):
Maybe you get put up with the sleeper game and
then everybody's like, ah, b A, he's not that good.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
And then they come out and what's up, Jackue, Let's
jump over to these Rams.
Speaker 7 (51:03):
Let's get into these Rams real quick. Ten and seven
This year Sean mcvay's seventh season in LA. All the
talk before the season, coming off his first losing season
as a head coach, which is crazy, was retirement, Oh
he might go to media. Pooka's rookie season, of course,
fifth round pick won seventy seven. Aaron Donald's final season crazy.
(51:23):
Jalen Ramsey was dealt me off season and to start
this season.
Speaker 3 (51:27):
We mentioned it earlier. Coop was on IR up until week.
Speaker 7 (51:29):
Five with a little nagging hammy, this is this is
what's crazy for me.
Speaker 5 (51:34):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (51:35):
The Rams mortgage their future. They mortgage their future to
win a super Bowl. Got that super Bowl? The only
way you can get out of that rut is by
drafting good players. Now they hit on Kyron Williams, who
is it what sixth seventh? He was, he's a fifth fifth,
(52:00):
and they hit on Pooka Nakua. So talk to me
if boys, I'm telling you three that's that's the reason
why you guys are viable now, is because you guys
are building. When you do that and you bring those
free agents in and stuff like that, Yeah, you got
to hit that window, you guys did, but then you
have to rebuild your team through the draft. And that's
what you guys have done the last few years, including
(52:23):
having a guy like you get you in the fifth,
steal you in the fifth, and then get the production
that you had. How what what makes Less Snead and
Sean McVay so special? Do they are they? Are they
real buddy buddy at work? Do they finish each other's
sentences or are they like you don't see them together
and one's doing one and.
Speaker 4 (52:43):
No, I definitely do see them together.
Speaker 1 (52:45):
I think uh Less Sneed is definitely like the super
I mean not to say that coach mcvays and like
a critical thinker, but like you can take away he
doesn't talk as much as coach McVay. So you're like,
you know, he's thinking about every word that's about to
come out of his mouth, and it has a reason.
He thought of about all the five different avenues where
the conversation could go and what are the different impacts
of it where coach McVeigh, he's thinking about that. But
(53:06):
like the football, like how the person's gonna interact because
like coach he could.
Speaker 2 (53:11):
I mean he talks to everybody. He has them by name,
he knows.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
Where they got kids, or where their family is, where
they're back home from. Like every time I seen him,
he asked about my little brother he talks about He
asked me how my mom.
Speaker 2 (53:23):
Q through the roof, like Q through the roof.
Speaker 4 (53:26):
Just just it's so fun to talk.
Speaker 1 (53:28):
To him, and you see, it's like his energy is
as contagious as could be, like his passion for not
only the game of football, but to be like a
good person. It helps get everybody excited to go play
football for him because you feel like that real authentic energy.
So it makes it super fun. But I think those
two are as, it's a it's a it's a very
good dynamic duo.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
You know, with Sean it has to be authentic, Like
the high energy ship is authentic with Sean. He loves football.
That guy is football. I mean I played against him college.
We played against each other. Shout out of the man
who was shot out Mac. I think we uh. I
think he won one year and I won one year
at that I don't remember him, but I know he
(54:08):
remembered me.
Speaker 3 (54:11):
H No.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
But with the authenticity of that high energy is something
that you see through Coach McVeigh. I mean, it's been
so fun to watch you guys from you know, closer
distance now that I've retired and moved out here and
seeing your development, you know building, you know with Verse
and all the defensive guys that you brought in through
(54:32):
the draft and you and Kyron, like it's so fun.
When did you realize that, like this is week two,
you already what did you crack him for? In the
first week you had ten catches or something ten for one,
ten for one, twenty Okay, so you kind of you
kind of knew before that game that there was chemistry
(54:53):
between you and Matthew Stafford. When did you feel that
chemistry actually ignite and like you knew you were gonna
have this ten catch game going into the week two
where you're gonna have the performance you have So.
Speaker 1 (55:05):
Rookie mini camp, we come, we get drafted, we show up,
and then.
Speaker 2 (55:09):
There's like two weeks after that.
Speaker 1 (55:12):
The rookies got to stay after everybody else goes and
everybody's leaving, but except me and my roommate Davis Allen.
He was the I was one seventy seven, he was
one seventy five, two picks in front of me. We're
at the hotel together. We're both rookie. So we're staying
and everybody's going. We're like, oh, we're gonna stay. And
we get a text of like yo from one of
our strength coaches, like yo, Matthew wants you to come
(55:32):
out and catch for like Higgs is going to be there,
our other wide receiver Van Jefferson is going to be there,
and they're like he wants you to come out and
be like yo for real, like out of all the
guys on the team, Like he asked me and like
my roommates to come out, and I was like, yo,
I got to run the best routes of my life
if I cannot drop a ball, like it's got to
be as good or it's got to be the best
(55:52):
route run I've ever had in my life. And the
first day and like you've thrown with him, like you
see when like you're coming out of breaks and like
the balls in the perfect spot every time, and be
like yo, if I keep my feet and like I
as long as I can see the ball spin for
a second, I'm like this is I'm like, he is
not missing. Like no, whether it's upfield, we're running an
out route, puts on your front shoulder, you could turn,
(56:12):
tap and turn to get out the side. And you're
running out of a crow break, it's on your inside
paths so you can drop step and turn over your
inside shoulder.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
And that was like, holy colch. So you're basically telling
me that you guys had instinct chemistry. I mean, low
ki I felt I felt like first Yeah, I was like, honestly,
I'm I'm not gonna I'm not even gonna second guess
that because I went with him once to Golden West. Yeah,
we threw together. I think we threw forty five balls.
I think we went forty five for forty five. We
(56:40):
never even met each other. That's how elite his arm
talent is. He like like Puka was saying, the ball
come right out there, right out. That break is right
on your forehead, literally right up on your forehead, and
he just over here slings it.
Speaker 1 (56:53):
Oh man, he got the little half white arm sleeper. Yeah,
wo dot him up.
Speaker 2 (56:57):
What do you think makes him so special? Is it
the arm string? What? What do you see from his
day to day that makes him special?
Speaker 1 (57:04):
I mean, I think his attention to detail like man
like he just like I mean, I think of him
and less neither like somebody man he does. He's not
the guy who's going to go out and have the
most conversation. He's going to talk to everybody, but man
like you see, he's got the big old like year
calendar like notebook where he's like he's got he's got
an old pen and paper. It's like the yellow pages
still like you know, where it's not like the little
brown spot at the top and you fold it over.
(57:25):
So it's like that's him, like he's got it and
he's taking notes. He's got it all.
Speaker 2 (57:29):
That's how we used to do it in the NFL. Yeah, yeah,
I know you're so used to iPads and fucking devices
and stuff. You probably didn't ever read a book. You
used to get a big ass binder with all the plays. No, yeah,
hell no, they definitely don't do that anymore. Three inch
are inch save some trees.
Speaker 4 (57:47):
Man, it's not using the iPad. Man.
Speaker 2 (57:49):
I guess we are. I guess we are.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
But yeah, I think his toughness, I think is the
one thing that's like, man, you have to cut off
both arm and legs off for that guy to leave
the football for And I think as that quarterback position,
you don't always get that. And I think that separates
him from almost every other guy out there.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
Now, when the guys in the locker room see and
know about Matthew Stafford's toughness, does it bring does it
have like an energy in the room where if a
guy gets kind of banged up, they're like, oh, well,
our fucking star quarterback will just played with broken ribs
(58:28):
or whatever. He's he's always playing banged up. Yeah, I
gotta play. Is there that energy with Matthew Stafford in
that locker room?
Speaker 1 (58:36):
It's like it's definitely led into the identity of our
team and stuff like that. How guys operate and be like, Yo,
this is the most prized possession we have is our quarterback.
You know how the locker room isn't like how the
football like the whole football team operates through this guy.
And he, yeah, he will never take himself out of
the game. And so it's like if unless you're unless
(58:56):
your ankle is facing the opposite way or the ligaments
that are completely torn there, you can't run anymore.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
You got to get back out there. I just remember
that one video of him like going and doing the
two point conversion when he like he fucked up his
other shoulder when he's back in the Detroit early in
his career, because we were drafting the same year, I
think two thousand and nine really, and man, he's been playing.
I was like crying. I remember because I've I've I've
(59:24):
gotten crunched where a guy falls on you and you
crunch your shoulder and you knock it out of place. Yeah,
and the pain is I remember him going, oh, and
I motherfucker sacked up through that two point conversion with
a broken show. I was like, I'm a Matthew Stafford guy.
Ever since then then he got with you guys. It's
been fun to watch his story. Who's the unsung hero
(59:44):
of this this year's team twenty twenty three, La Rams
Unsung Hero. I want to say either Kobe Durant or
Quintin Lake one of our DB's maybe Quinn Lake. I'll
give it.
Speaker 1 (59:56):
I'll give it a q Lake kind of had him
playing at the st our position. Was that corner too,
got moved to plane. Safety was kind of in and
out of all those positions, but like somebody on the
back end who was like taking control and also like
who wasn't scared to come fit the box.
Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
And he's like, there are some of those guys.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
You're like, all right, I mean I didn't I never
got to play with it, like a Jalen Ramsey, but
of like some not that he was. I don't think
he's ever scared to tackle anybody, but of like their corners, like, yeah,
they're not. I'm a guard the corner. I'm gonna go
get a pick. But other than that, don't.
Speaker 4 (01:00:26):
Ask me to be involved in anything else.
Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
And we're like, when you have somebody on now on
the defensive side of the ball and in that position group,
I think it breeds. It breeds toughness for all of
those dbs, not only just like the safety group.
Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
But it breeds for everybody. It is. That's is it did.
The La Rams have a theme of toughness, low key shoot.
Speaker 4 (01:00:49):
It all comes from number nine.
Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Who's the team asshole of this twenty twenty three.
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
Team, Rob Hanstein, for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (01:01:01):
Big Rob has been in the league for uh maybe
going on ten years, maybe a little after that. He
was in the Rams when they were in Saint Louis
still just our veteran guy. Like, you're not gonna ever
tell Big Rob anything. Big Rob is gonna tell the
rookies you better go pick up my damn towels. There
better be three towels at my locker. I need a
pack of ins. Go get the pack of ins and
put him on the on the in the lineman room.
Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
He's just a vet.
Speaker 1 (01:01:22):
Yeah, he's just a vet. But it's like you need
a vet like that, and like everybody all. I mean,
now that I'm year three, I'm gonna make sure the
rookies bring donuts to the when we're going to that
when we're going to the airplane, Uh Saturday morning, we got.
Speaker 4 (01:01:36):
Walk throughs I want.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
Maybe I'm like, now that we're in California, go get
an Airwan Smoothie red like.
Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
Airwan see I didn't even think about that. You could
you could live so with the bullying, you could live
so healthy in La. You know, we used to go
send the kids a red robin. You got a burger
and sack of fries, go to five guys. You can
go out here get a Justin Bieber smoothie for thirty
five dollars. Rookie fucking paid for it. Yeah, exactly, Jesus,
(01:02:03):
who's the funny guy?
Speaker 5 (01:02:04):
Mm?
Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
The funny guy? Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:02:07):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
Brian Allen for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
BA, he was one.
Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
He's one of our setters. He was the center for
the super Bowl team. But kind of another another veteran guy.
He's a Chicago kid, so he's kind of got that
uh Chicago. Yeah, he's kind of like everything he says
kind of feels like, Yo, are you talking shit to
me right now?
Speaker 4 (01:02:23):
For no reason, They're like what.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
What did I do?
Speaker 4 (01:02:25):
And that's everything?
Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
Everything he's whether he was or he wasn't, that's always
what it kind of felt like.
Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
Now, how good was Aaron Donald? This is you got
to play with probably a generational great player on defense
of our generation my generation? Like was he just a monster?
It was like you still have like five years too.
Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
It was like terrifying and so exciting at the same time,
Like terrifying during training camp because you're like, you know,
he just absolutely wants to beat your head into the
ground like you're on the other technically on the other
side right now. Neverybody's like just going out there competing,
and then when you get to season being.
Speaker 4 (01:03:03):
Like, yo, this guy's on our team.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
Like now that the other team has to stop this
guy from ruining practice or ruining the game, because that's
what he does to us every day.
Speaker 4 (01:03:11):
We're like, all right, we know these reps are AD.
Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
We're gonna Matthew's gonna slide the protection, We're gonna make
sure we get at least four hands on Ad and
like figure things out where It's like now the other
team has.
Speaker 4 (01:03:21):
To do it, like we can watch it now. I'm
just celebrated.
Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
Like when you see Ad do the quickest like swim
move at the line of scrimmage and now he's waiting
for to pick up and body slam the running back,
You're like, holy cow, like I've been waiting for this
moment to happen to the other team.
Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
Oh my god, he I couldn't even imagine. I mean, shoot,
you guys had to play against him too. Yeah, we did.
Scary guy he was, I mean we had we The
game plan was block Aaron Donald. If we block him,
will win record. It was a low scoring game.
Speaker 5 (01:03:54):
Shout out David Andrews.
Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
Shout out David Andrews. What's hip a Carson went? He
was on this team? Is he just straight? Like? Is
he dork in the locker room or what? No? Guy,
he got forced out of a couple places, Like, I
just feel like he's like the guy that like gives
max effort and tries hard. Things just don't go his way. Yeah,
(01:04:18):
I think that.
Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
I mean that was how he showed up to our
facility for sure, and like like high energy, like hey
his what's up?
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:04:23):
I was wearing his camera hat talking about going to
shoot guns, going to fishing and going duck hunting and
stuff like that. And I was like, I don't I
don't mind that. I'm like, I'm from Uta, some we
can go shoot guns out there. But he was super cool.
He was he would be in the breakfast club as well.
He had to be there right just as early as
Matthew and them, and no.
Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
Need the breakfast now is Jimmy Garoppolo in this breakfast club.
Now they don't, Yeah, Jimmy, Jimmy, He's no.
Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
I wouldn't say.
Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
He's in the breakfast club. Jimmy G.
Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
He's there, He's there.
Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
He's there, just not maybe as early as everybody else.
How's Jimmy G.
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
He's got.
Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
Ever, like when they huge chill, maybe something chilly. I
think that like the modern phrases like aura, like somebody's got,
or like Jimmy G's got, or like whether it's out,
whether it's at practice facility or I've never seen him outside.
But I can only imagine like that, the aura when
somebody notices that Jimmy G's in there. He's got the
Travis Matthews always walking in the nice little freshly kind
(01:05:24):
of shaved face with a little bit of hair in
it too.
Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
Shadow.
Speaker 4 (01:05:27):
Yeah, Like it's just he's always looking nice.
Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
Joker is handsome. I remember Tom got a little mad.
He knew he's better looking enough for both of us.
I said, I was a Tom guy. But you know,
there's some insecurities when you see Jimmy G.
Speaker 7 (01:05:45):
He's pretty.
Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
Let's jump into this game. What's the game? Lead up? All?
Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
Right?
Speaker 7 (01:05:52):
Leading up this as we mentioned this week two. Early
on in the season, Pooka's second game ever, first.
Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
Game hits him over, first first start ever, first.
Speaker 7 (01:06:00):
Start ever ten in Seattle, baby ten, catching one nineteen.
Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
Easy easy uh.
Speaker 7 (01:06:06):
Week the week one, the Rams were coming off of
thirty to thirteen win. San Fran also put up thirty
in Week one, thirty to seven over the Steelers, so
to one to oh teams coming into this division battle.
Speaker 2 (01:06:17):
So you're still on like honeymoon phase year of your
of your rookie year. So you're still like excited, you
don't feel pain, You're we had a great Week one.
How confident were you going into Week two?
Speaker 1 (01:06:31):
I felt really good, especially like Cooper's heard at this
time and be like we're going through all the meetings
and like just like we were talking about like do you.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
Know you're getting fed? Like going when did you know
you were gonna start getting the rock a lot?
Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
Cooper's after this game, like it it's still never registered
in my head because I'm like I'm going through. I'm
like we're going through. I'm still trying to remember my place.
I still got to line up. I still got to
remember like where I gotta line up inside edge, Where
I gotta line up outside edge?
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Am I am? I here in the split? Am I
at the alley? Do I do?
Speaker 4 (01:06:57):
I got a push crack on this one?
Speaker 1 (01:06:59):
Or I just got the corner this So I'm like
all of the football stuff was the only thing I
could think about, Like I never even processed, Like I
was like, yo, We're about to throw me the ball
twenty times in one game. Like that never occurred in
my head. Like I even Saturday, We're going through walk
throughs at the hotel targets and I'm like, yo, I
didn't realize that any of these players were coming to me,
Like I knew the first play, like we had lined
(01:07:19):
up the first play the game.
Speaker 2 (01:07:20):
I'm pretty sure our first offensive play was.
Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
To me, it was like we got me lined up
one of the very few times, probably the first couple
of weeks, like I lined up outside the numbers, like
I'm out there, sold up. We motioned somebody away quick
five yard hits, first catch him, like all right. Kind
of got the jitters out when you first get that,
when the first play comes to you, like all right,
especially when it goes well, everything starts to cool down, signing.
Speaker 2 (01:07:41):
A free access hitch. First play to rookie, Oh, you're
getting the ball. You're getting. They just want him, they
know they're going to give him the ball game, so
they want him to get confident right away. So hit
give him some easy, Let him get his little nerves
because he's playing against the fucking Niners. Four steed this
joker all God, damn Dad, No, I'd never even realized.
Speaker 1 (01:08:04):
And then like after the first one, like after the
nerves get calm and you catch one, you kind of
get hit by somebody, move out of the bounds and
be like, all right, everything's everything feels feels good.
Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
Yeah, it feels good. Now. How many how many catches
you have in the first half? This was six? I
believe six? So when did you know it was like,
did you did you feel like you were in the
zone in this game? Because I remember there's how many
you had twenty targets? How many fifteen catches? Was there
(01:08:36):
was there like a zone thing where like you felt
like you were in the zone because I remember high
catch games. For me, when you're catching a lot of balls,
you feel like a lot of shit's working. Yeah, you
feel like you're making the right reads. The quarterbacks on
the page with you you're everything's going right if you're
catching fucking fifteen balls and getting twenty damn targets. Yeah,
so when did you know, Like all right, when did
(01:08:57):
you did you feel a zone? Were you in the zone?
When did you feel that zone? I definitely, I definitely
knew I was in the zone, like I think there was.
We had like a kind of like a.
Speaker 4 (01:09:06):
Quicker choice route line.
Speaker 1 (01:09:08):
I was out on the slot where on the I'm
on the right, like the right split, and we go
and I get and like Matthew puts it on. I'm like, yo,
he probably thinks the outbreak is here, but I'm like,
I'm going to take this inbreak Like I'm like the inbreak,
that's where the money's at. I'm like, so I go
up there once in the middlefield, I'm like, I take
the inbreak and I'm like, yeah, he puts it on
me like rocket in the middle of my chest and
I catch it and then I drake greenlawer. Somebody hits
(01:09:29):
me and I get to run through and I end
up getting tackled and being like he's thinking the exact
same way I am. And we didn't miss at all,
Like no no hesitation, no no fall step, no movement,
Like as soon as I was ready to catch the ball,
it was right in my it was right there in
the hard on.
Speaker 4 (01:09:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
I love that. There's nothing like it.
Speaker 4 (01:09:47):
Yeah, especially for the quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
When you feel that with your quarterback, there's like when
you're saying you're getting a lot of balls, obviously feeling
your zone, but love being like, yo, the exact same
thought process is going through his head right now and
being like, Yo, we're We're on the.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
Exact same page, same words, same line, Like we're ready
to roll. Wow, there's nothing like that feeling. Yeah. Now
when CMC breaks that fifty yard one yard run, are
you like this guy's fucking what are you guys thinking
on another sideline?
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
Oh my gosh, Like he just kept right like he
was just that speed. I'm telling you, we're talking about
the Cavs and like this guy can just roll like
literally in the in the light of scripers out of
there like get out.
Speaker 2 (01:10:23):
And he's got pristine like sprinting mechanics. If you watch
him though, he's very efficient the way he strikes the
ground and like his knee drive. Yeah, he's like he
looks like he should be on the blocks. I mean
that would help us all out, help us. Now, what's
McVeigh say at halftime? It's fourteen ten, we're up at halftime.
Speaker 7 (01:10:45):
Right seventeen on this one, or you guys are up
climbed out of a ten three hole early, got up
seventeen ten and let Purdy punch one in right at
the end of the half.
Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
There.
Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
I know that was I remember the thing was like,
you know, you feel like the game's going good and
then the other team scores right before half and that
kind of kills all of your momentum, Like no matter
how good the game is going for you guys, and
being like, yeah, that kind of hurt us, and especially
like being on the offensive side, like you just watched
them most thirty seconds is going down and they march
and kind of score quickly, and being like, yo, if
(01:11:15):
we get the ball next and we score and they
haven't scored, like.
Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
The game is way different.
Speaker 1 (01:11:19):
The whole the energy, all the Raiders all, I mean,
not the Raiders, that all the forty nine er fans
who showed up. And the score is fourteen to seven
at the or twenty one to seven where we come
out of the third quarter after our first series is
like everybody kind of shuts up, starts to feel like
we're at home again. We can go, we can have
a normal third down call without being on the silent
and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
And then it just didn't happen out like that way. Yeah,
you know, you guys were You guys are still learning
your team. You guys were banged up. Yeah, I could
tell you right now. I know McVeigh loves to throw
the football, but he never wants to see Matt Stafford
go back and throw the ball fifty five times. That's
not a recipe for winning. You know. That's just because
(01:12:01):
it's new in the season. They're banged up, they're still
learning their goddamn team. They don't even know what their
team is yet. They got a fifth round guy, he's
got twenty five catches in two games. So now that
game plans changing. And then this year, like once you
guys get back into that running phase and you guys
start building off a kirn and then you get back
into that equal formula, that's when you guys are thriving.
(01:12:24):
But these are these division games. Early, they're fucking hard.
Jack break us through this game real quick.
Speaker 7 (01:12:30):
Yeah, we mentioned earlier that got into a ten to
three hole. Early, had that big CMC run, traded some
field goals Early then got up seventeen to ten, two
Kien Williams touchdowns. He had a big game. He was
starting in place of Cam Akers this week and seventeen seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:12:45):
At the half, his first start.
Speaker 3 (01:12:47):
Yeah, crazy right, his first thousand yard season. He was
bowling out that fifth round. Man, is that your guy?
Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
That's my guy? Two three man.
Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
That's why that's why I allowed to run duo because
he always makes me right. So when you say, like
the our wide receiver coach always says, a good runner
makes every block right.
Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Yeah, shoes your feet and play like that quote. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:13:07):
And then.
Speaker 7 (01:13:10):
The story of the second half, unfortunately, two Stafford interceptions
would kind of be the thing that sank the Rams
in this one. Got outscored thirteen to six, end up
losing thirty to twenty three. But as we mentioned, Pook
of fifteen catches one hundred and forty seven yards two
carries four yards, sets the record your receptions in the game.
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
Can you walk us through the moment you broke the record?
Did you know you were getting close to the record,
Did you know there was the record No, I.
Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
Didn't know there was a record.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
I sort of like just feel like you're in the
zone and be like, yo, I gotta go run my
route because he's he's count on me being the guy
like to throw the ball, and like I never even realized.
I just remember like Fred every time I was like
I we're catching balls over the middle of the Fred's
like yeah, pook, and I'm like, gosh, damn.
Speaker 4 (01:13:53):
Fred, like, well, you can not be on the field
while I'm out here. I'm like, he's not letting get
hit by you.
Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
One play, leave me alone, Go go guard the left
left hash or something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
Now, fifteen catches a lot of catches.
Speaker 8 (01:14:04):
Are you keeping that tally in your head or like
after like twelve years, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
I've had a lot of catches today. No, definitely, I'm
like I'm going back to the side of exact jokers
over You're like, man, I'm about to get hit the kid, No, Coop.
Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
I remember going to the sideline one like we got one,
feeling exhausted and being like, yo, I'm getting hit every time.
I'm like, well, Also, how they had Chase Young At
the time, they had a Chase the Bosa and then
they had Drake Jackson who was like another another.
Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
Defensive end for them.
Speaker 1 (01:14:33):
He was a usc kur and being like yo, like
they were still asking me to like I would be
mixing the run game.
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
We line up on the inside edge of the hash.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
And be like, yo, you got the one block right here,
or you got to sift block the defensive end and
be like all right, And whenever they see somebody who's
under or who's not a tight end, they're like, all right,
this is my chance to wreck this guy's days. And
definitely luckily I didn't get hit too bad. But of
being like after we ran one crack tak, every time
(01:15:01):
I lined up.
Speaker 4 (01:15:01):
They'd be like, all right, alert, alert, cracked toss.
Speaker 1 (01:15:03):
And then now they just start hitting you for fun
because they know if they get you off the play
and the whole thing will be wrecked.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
And then what you guys do is you guys run zone. Yeah,
either you wipe them out or then you've done the
double down flat and you fake it. You fake toss.
You come here, you run the return out, you got
the spin over the top and you read the fucking
back or I mean it's or then you do a
little the little you motion a guy over and you're
the only guy out there in a nasty split. You
(01:15:30):
run three up, you come back and you throw a
screen to you. I mean, what do we want to do?
We are all options open once we establish the run.
Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
We gotta get there establish the.
Speaker 3 (01:15:42):
Run to put a bow on this game.
Speaker 7 (01:15:44):
We got to mention single game receptions and it's single
game receptions by.
Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
A rookie fifteen.
Speaker 7 (01:15:48):
Pucaset's record most receptions through first two career games twenty
five also around. So we're two games in and we're
breaking records. Baby, final score, final score.
Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
Thirty to twenty three. Nine ers.
Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
Now, you guys beat them the second time we did. Yeah,
it was Week eighteen. Yeah, but it's always it's always, yeah,
you gotta hit that at first. I mean, I hate
when the NFL does that. You guys had two division openers. Yeah,
that's tough. Usually give you something, you know what I mean,
somebody in between you. I remember we always used to
have those weird Thursday night games against the Jets early
(01:16:24):
in the season. You just want to get out healthy
with win. It's like, oh my god. And but it's
it's a team that knows you.
Speaker 5 (01:16:31):
You know them.
Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
It's really so you go, I just barely learned that
there are there there are divisions in the game of football.
Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
You didn't know. I mean I feel like I did,
but I never really paid attention.
Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
I didn't really know.
Speaker 1 (01:16:44):
I'm like, I'm showing up on Sunday. I don't give
a damn who we played against. It there's no reason
I should play different for the forty nine ers or
the Seahawks or the Cardinals that I should play when
we play the Eagles or the Bills, like, oh, I'm
going out there to beat everybody's ass. You're not on
my team, Like my job is to beat you. I
don't give a damn if I see you twice or yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
I'll tell you. You know, you start playing these teams and
it's like your eighth ninth time playing them. You gotta
fucking fabricate shit in your head ye to like, you know,
make you go another level. And then also when you play,
you know, when you know you're playing the Vision, you
(01:17:22):
know you know if you sneak a game on them,
you go up two games. And then you also know
that like you're probably gonna the second time. You can
use a lot of that film. There's a lot I
don't know, but I do understand as a young football
player being you know, let's just learn my system, let's
just play the right way. And that's a great mindset
to fucking have. Fuck the divisions. If you go out
(01:17:44):
and do your job and do it consistently every fucking play,
it don't matter what division you.
Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
And collectively the unit does it. Yeah, that's how you
win exactly. So eleven to be on the same page.
Speaker 2 (01:17:55):
All eleven to be on the same page. Well, you
were on the same fucking page this season with the
one hundred and five fucking receptions, fourteen hundred and eighty
six yards and six touchdowns for an well, that's those
are all rookie records. I think you surpassed Jalen Waddle
with one hundred and four and then also Bill Groman
(01:18:18):
for fourteen seventy three back in nineteen sixty. Damn was
that in fourteen games?
Speaker 3 (01:18:23):
The fourteen games Houston Wheelers Bill Groman shoutout that.
Speaker 2 (01:18:27):
Was probably one of those run and shoot teams where
they was the only team runt throwing. They're running the
bare defense is this guy was? You know? You guys
made the playoffs this year, which you guys got super
hot at the back end of the year, once again,
very similar to this year. You guys went further this year.
But you know this is this was a start of
(01:18:48):
something that could be really great for where you guys
are going in twenty twenty five. It's these types of
seasons and these types of games that you know, guys
lean on in those high I stress pressured situations that
you pull from and it's you know, it's it's it's
absolute pleasure to have you on on the show. That's
(01:19:08):
that's that's a that's an all time rookie receiving season.
That's all time incredible. That's crazy. You didn't get Offensive
Player of the Year.
Speaker 3 (01:19:19):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
Stroud got it though, Right, it's a quarterback thing, you know,
quarterback thing.
Speaker 4 (01:19:22):
He did ball though, he balld he.
Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
I can't imagine the quarterback position as much as I
think what we do is pretty damn hard too. When
you got to tell everybody where to go, and you
got to think for a lot of other people on
the field, who yeah, I could raly think for myself.
Speaker 4 (01:19:36):
That's why I coop out there.
Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
We're lighting up.
Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
I'm like, yo, what I got right?
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
Here, let's let's let's let's dissect this defense together. Now,
what do you think about CJ. Stroud's second season. It's
a line.
Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
Yeah, I think there was definitely and then I think
it's i mean, not only on him, but like the
coaches to be like, yo, we gotta evolve our game
plan as well, being like yeah, we're we have especially
with they're White House. I mean they had Stefan Diggs,
they had Nicoll, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
Collins was banged up, they were I mean, they had
a lot of Everyone keeps on saying sophomore slump, but
I think he just had a tough situation where his
offensive line wasn't playing particularly well. He had his best
playmakers were in and out of the lineup like all
year long. It's hard for a guy to get comfortable
(01:20:21):
when he's got guys in his lap trying to read
the defense, and that's what he likes to do.
Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
So it's also hard to get comfortable when, like, you
don't know any of those guys running.
Speaker 2 (01:20:30):
Out there, especially they haven't been practicing. They ain't gonna
be the same guy that was in training camp when
they come back. That's what people don't realize. Practice time
is extremely important.
Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
Yeah, like all the reps, especially like we're talking about
this time right now, of like all the times you're
just gonna there's no coaches out there, you're not really
running in places, you're just.
Speaker 2 (01:20:48):
Throwing the ball. You're watching him run and be like,
all right, he breaking it.
Speaker 1 (01:20:50):
He gets out of a break like this, or he's
running like this, and yeah, reps are important.
Speaker 2 (01:20:55):
He don't get a lot of them. Yeah. Now you
said you you were a Steelers fan, packs fans, No,
but you said Steelers because of Troy. Yeah. Who's the
Mount Rushmore of Paly football players? Oh, Junior Seao got
to play with them? Really, I played with.
Speaker 1 (01:21:11):
Them, Lucky Troy Palmalu Jessel another forty.
Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
Nine Ers guy, and Helosi Helodi Nada got Bahama.
Speaker 1 (01:21:27):
Yeah, I got that's a that's four scary guys right there, Hellodi.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
Nicely, after ray Lewis knocked me out of a game,
I got banged, concussed and walking towards the Ravens, Hellodi goes, hey, buddy,
your sideline is that way.
Speaker 4 (01:21:46):
That's what I remember.
Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
It could have been someone else, but that's that's what
I want to remember. We'll be right back after this
quick break, let's grade the game.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (01:21:59):
Name the game. Uh, we have. We came up with
some names. If you have a name for this specific game,
that'll it'll be remembered for forever existence. You can go
out and throw it. But this is what we came
up with. The Puka party fifteen catches, so easy and
so far the rookie record breaker. Go easy on me, Fred,
(01:22:24):
but we didn't get the dub or else something that's
or something else or something else or something else.
Speaker 1 (01:22:34):
A man, because I'm a team guy. It's like, but
we didn't get the dub. For sure, it's not it's not.
It's not a one that. But when I tell my
son that story, I'll be like, Yo. We bounced back
and we played them in week eighteen.
Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
We beat them.
Speaker 1 (01:22:50):
Yeah, Fred and Num were still in the game. They're
trying to stop me from getting the rookie record that.
I had a couple of plays against them, score a
touchdown Chard Davis Ward was guarded me hit a little
slot fade against them.
Speaker 4 (01:22:59):
We didn't get the do but we did later.
Speaker 2 (01:23:02):
Hey, I like that he made the playoffs. We did
make the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:23:05):
That was one of the craziest I'm sure you've had
crazy playoff games playing in Detroit.
Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
Plays goes off. What was it like for Stafford because
that was you know, that was the story in that game.
Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
Going going back to.
Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
Detroit, everybody is booing him like what, instantly assumeing he
came out of the field.
Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
Rightfully, So you got it. Yeah, they love him, but
you got it. You can't get that's more for golf. Yeah,
I think that's more for golf. They love Matthew Stafford.
Matthew Stafford did a lot for that organization. But you know,
you can't go in there and start cheering and giving
standy no and fucking got Jared Goff over here trying
to fucking beat him. Yeah, the city of Detroit desperately
needed that way, they needed that win. Yeah, that would
(01:23:41):
have been bad. Yeah, that would have been bad. All right,
Score the game? Is this the greatest game of all time?
Let's score it. Pooka steaks zero to ten decimals? Okay,
the stakes of this week two division.
Speaker 1 (01:23:53):
Game to ten, I'd say it's like a five, you
know what for we didn't get the dub, but we
did later game very very.
Speaker 2 (01:24:05):
Integrity type scores like Puka just on the first one.
I know the name, the name that he picked. I
can tell he's an integrity guy, team guy, team guy.
I'm gonna go with the five and with a four
to eight. We're in the same ballpark out at four
point six. Star power of this game, both sidelines. One
of the generational greats was on defense for your team.
Matthew Stafford maybe first, he's probably first batle Hall of
(01:24:28):
Famer Pooka Nakua rookie record was in this game. Of
a lot of them, a bunch of guys. Sean McVay, Yeah,
I think we gotta be at like Shanahan so fine
that maybe some Sarah Donald someplace, Aaron Donald's there.
Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
Am I crazy if I say like a nine nine
nine two, let a rip.
Speaker 4 (01:24:48):
I mean we got we got CMC.
Speaker 1 (01:24:50):
They got Deebo, they got George Kittle like a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:24:54):
I got, Yeah, Debo, we had.
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
We're star studyed on our side too, star study. It's
a lot of stars. I'm gonna go with the that way.
I like that I was losing.
Speaker 4 (01:25:04):
I'm crazy for giving a nine.
Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
You guys. Just hype me up, lit me like crazy.
That is cool and wild. You got a six eight.
We didn't even get a seven.
Speaker 3 (01:25:22):
Bad man, bro I had a seven sandbagging.
Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
The gameplay of this week two Division game between the
San Francisco forty nine ers and the Los Angeles Rams
zero to ten decimals. Okay, the gameplay back and forth.
You guys are up at halftime, somehow snuck it out,
records being broken.
Speaker 4 (01:25:42):
Let me I'll go seven, seven seven.
Speaker 3 (01:25:46):
I like that shout out Andrew Whitworth's shout out with
I'm gonna go with a seven two nice six seven.
I'm in there with you, six high way all right?
Speaker 2 (01:26:00):
The name, now, Pooka, you gotta score the name of
the game. We actually score the name that you picked
for this game. I mean I thought it was good.
I picked it so and this game is called the
But we didn't get the dub but we did later game.
Speaker 4 (01:26:18):
Yeah, give that a.
Speaker 2 (01:26:20):
I'll give that a seven five. I'll give that an
eight seven. Kyler had a one point seven one in
honor of your your old mom. Okay, okay.
Speaker 8 (01:26:31):
The cultural relevance of this game, I don't know what
are you talking about to rookie record.
Speaker 2 (01:26:35):
I've had too many red bulls and got mean, where's
his stand up to all the games that we've done
Kyler calculate soup Nazi Kyler score Nazi Kyler six point four.
Speaker 1 (01:26:48):
That puts us do we make the top at least
top seventy.
Speaker 2 (01:26:55):
Fi with the nineteen ninety eight Pop Warner National Chip. No,
you didn't have to say that.
Speaker 1 (01:27:02):
You should have said we were tied for seventy five, bro,
because well.
Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
You talked about that's a that's a that's a ring
right there? Dog? Who is who is this city? Forty
nine ers versus Naperville Redskins? Oh way, you mean you
haven't heard about this history game where it bounced off
the field goal post went in by Christopher Reese, Steven
Aros took a middle screen all the way seventy yards
(01:27:25):
for the win. Wait this is the game you were
talking about earlier? Yeah, oh way, legendary game. I'm war
Shadow crazy, bro. Crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:27:35):
Couldn't have scripted that better?
Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
Oh man, you mentioned the greatest game of all time?
Look who what our score is for the number one
game here?
Speaker 5 (01:27:42):
Twenty eight to three.
Speaker 2 (01:27:43):
But this is not biased? Knows no that that's a
crazy game? Was insane, dude. I watched it like a
few years after, like the first time, like a TV copy,
like copy, I was like, how did we win this game?
It was wild?
Speaker 4 (01:27:57):
I don't do you watch a lot of the games
that you've played in your.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
Retire now now when you're tired. I'll watch them now
because I got to talk about shit on TV. So
what I do is anytime it'll be like what is
a divisional round week or this that, I'll watch a
lot of the replays of when you guys are playing.
Then I'll watch a lot of the replays they'll throw
in our old replays, like when it's divisional round this
that because it helps me like bring back memories that
(01:28:22):
I can reference when I speak on TV about it. Okay,
that makes a lot of sense. So like sometimes in
the off seasons, like I will go through a season
that we played through to try to rehash some of
the memories of when we lost to Super Bowl or
some of the memories when we were going for our
second or the or when we got bounced out of
you know, my rookie year in the first round. Yeah,
(01:28:44):
like when you rewatch it, I don't remember a lot
of shit. And then you're like, oh I remember this
one fucking thing.
Speaker 1 (01:28:49):
Yeah, you see a plane, You're like, wait, that happens
this game.
Speaker 2 (01:28:53):
That happened in this game. I remember we were stalling
that fucking play and we had fucking this guy doing that,
you know what I mean, It's just it's fun to
do because I mean, I've been out now, this is
five years, so you know when when you're in it,
I'm not watching that ship. Yeah, because you're on to
the next. Like you said, you're doing everything you can
to make your fucking craft the best it could possibly
be every year, and it's hard to do that while
(01:29:15):
you're evolving. You got to redo it every year. You
got to bring something new to your game every year,
because there's a guy, some fucking slob sitting in a
goddamn office literally watching every catch that you did from
all the other teams, to say, how the fuck do
we stop this guy? All Right, we're gonna do this,
We're gonna do that, We're gonna do this. They've got
(01:29:36):
guys trying to scheme against you now because you got
tape and you're that good Good luck. Did we miss anything?
I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (01:29:45):
I think we I mean we covered the whole spectrum
of fun. We had Vegas, we had everything, we I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
I love talking about football.
Speaker 1 (01:29:53):
We're talking about basketball the Red City here really.
Speaker 2 (01:29:58):
Recently he's he's a hooper. He was bad. He brought
my college to lead eight. No way back in like
two thousand and four or something or four. You were like, three, yeah,
we gotta plug you on Instagram? What is it? Puoka
is dead? Puka is dead. Yeah, I didn't really I
follow you. I didn't know that was your name. I
just saw Pookah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:30:18):
No, Pooka is so I mean, funny story. My mom
my maybe my eighth grade year, didn't know I had
met Instagram. I make Instagram and it's like I don't
know some random other name, but it's not this. Yeah,
and my mom my mom finds my Instagram and changes it,
and she made it Puka is dead, like to let
me know I was in trouble. I've never changed my
Instagram after that.
Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
That's too funny.
Speaker 1 (01:30:38):
Just like how it spelled izded That's exactly how she
did it, like to the que and I was like,
oh my gosh, that is hilarious.
Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
Moll.
Speaker 1 (01:30:45):
I'm like now every time, like kids are always like Pooka
is dead, I'm like, that's me.
Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
Man, asat Pooka on X Now, how we get that one?
That's just our rap name. Yeah, I was man growing
up like loved Asap Rocky in the group.
Speaker 1 (01:30:58):
I mean those are like when I first really started
playing football and like I need hype music Asap rocking
and num we're killing it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:04):
So I was like, I want to be a part
of them. You're part of Jordan Brand, Yes, sir, there's
nothing like it. It's fire. I was.
Speaker 1 (01:31:11):
That was my I was why I could have potentially
been late because I was like, I don't know what
Jay's to wear, Like that's the only thing I was
like I got.
Speaker 2 (01:31:17):
I got some fours on you have a you have
a favorite pair? Space ship? Really eleven number eleven bubs.
Speaker 1 (01:31:25):
I was actually gonna wear some I was gonna wear
the black the black loaves today, but I switched.
Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
Them because I don't like I like, I like all
the real shoes. Yeah, okay, that's so I don't like
the hybrid ship. I mean you saw the loads right
see look at he He even remembers he's gonna be
a good football player. We appreciate you coming on games
and name it was fucking a blash bro check them
(01:31:51):
out on Instagram at Pooka is Dead. I z d

him out anywhere in Los Ange. I see him on
billboards everywhere for l a ram shit. So if you're
in LA you'll see him everywhere by football b Yu
shout out to my jew and then thanks for coming
(01:32:11):
on bro A man, that was awesome. Pooka. He's got
that young he's got young energy. Aura, Baby, you got
that Aura.
Speaker 3 (01:32:25):
He's the man.
Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
He's got He's got like a fun like work hard,
play hard energy. He just reminds me of the group
of guys that we hung out with in New England.
Like we used to have this group called the fuk
I don't know if I said it, but uh, it
was like me Dane Fletcher, Nico Kudo, Viti's Gronk, Shane Veren.
(01:32:46):
There's like this house where we were all a bunch
of young guys and we were the core of the team.
We were the future of the team and we love
to work hard and then after you go play hard.
And that's kind of the the vibe you get from Puka.
Speaker 3 (01:32:59):
Just a guy you want to hang out with.
Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Want to hang out with maybe maybe he saw some
messy goals. Oh yeah, there was no goal though, No,
it's one nothing. They lost nothing.
Speaker 5 (01:33:09):
We're kind of burying the lead.
Speaker 2 (01:33:10):
Here. Jack's back. Jack's back like I never left.
Speaker 3 (01:33:14):
Baby, See, I don't even seamlessly. We're back.
Speaker 2 (01:33:17):
Jacks always with me. We are bad. So I didn't
even feel like he was gone.
Speaker 7 (01:33:21):
Hey, I'm just one macho man. Meet my way, you know,
in order, not me. Plus, he's on the river side,
always here.
Speaker 3 (01:33:28):

Hit us in the comments section. We're recognizing these. First
up from William Haven two three five to two. Why
does julians laugh sound like someone stuck an empty beer
can in a garbage disposal?
Speaker 2 (01:34:41):
What is that?
Speaker 5 (01:34:41):
Bro an empty course like?
Speaker 3 (01:34:43):
Oh, an empty core. That's what he means.
Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
It's the same laugh as my dad. It's weird.
Speaker 3 (01:34:47):
The frank laugh.
Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
Frank laugh.
Speaker 5 (01:34:48):
And if you spend too much time with you guys,
you start to pick it up too.
Speaker 3 (01:34:52):
Go there, it's a good laugh. It's a good laugh.
Speaker 7 (01:34:55):
And from the uh the Antonio Gates episode Shout Out
the Flashes, Baby shrub Chucker commented, need rivers on here,
need rivers all right, only if we can do it
from the rialsmobile. Yeah, gosh darn it, get on the
gosh darn't couch Bill, bring all your kids.
Speaker 2 (01:35:11):
Well, we got a backyard, the back out of trampoline
kit you can put maybe may have a seventy seven
tournament out there with all his kids.
Speaker 7 (01:35:18):
Oh, man, easy, here is a particularly good one that
is near and dear to our heart. Gray seven four
nine five said, anyone know the name of that intro
outro song that plays?
Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
So I'll ges we do.
Speaker 5 (01:35:30):
I'll cover this one.
Speaker 2 (01:35:31):
So which one?
Speaker 5 (01:35:32):
This intro song to the.
Speaker 8 (01:35:36):
Everyone always asks what that song is and the answer
is it's not named. We had a composer, his name
was Andre Azizov. I think check him out on Instagram
here probably put it here, totally original. It was fun
developing that song too, a bunch of years ago. We're
going to post it on YouTube soon so you have
(01:35:57):
access to the full thing, so be on the lookout
for that. Also, did the dudes the dudes on Dudes'
song too?
Speaker 3 (01:36:03):
Guys?
Speaker 7 (01:36:03):
Talented? Yeah, talented. We got another good one here, Jeweles,
this one's for you man. Nick Fleetwood twenty one forty
six said, Jewles, What is one lift slash workout you
will never do again?
Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
I e.
Speaker 3 (01:36:15):
Hill springs, tire flips, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (01:36:17):
Bout runs, Oh, I've heard of those. I'm never doing
bout runs again?
Speaker 5 (01:36:21):
What is about run?
Speaker 2 (01:36:22):
A bout run is where you have to run hunter.
So you start on one goal line and you run
to the other goal line for three straight minutes, and
you have to get seven hundred and eighty five yards,
so you have to go touch the line, go back,
and it's just a constant run. But the slowing and
(01:36:44):
stopping down I think you have to average like sixteen
miles an hour. It's fucking it's hard.
Speaker 5 (01:36:48):
So you said it's three minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
Three minutes to do like seven hundred and eighty five yards.
Speaker 5 (01:36:53):
So then like that's down and back like seven and more.
Speaker 2 (01:36:56):
And a half times, so that half three times, it's
like back stop, and it's like if you haven't reached here,
if you don't if you don't stop, you don't make it.
Speaker 5 (01:37:05):
What's the ramifications for someone who doesn't get there?
Speaker 2 (01:37:08):
Uh, you may have to go and do more extra sprints,
like you may have to like come in. There's like
an earth there's fat camp, and then there's like non
conditioning camp. And so sometimes guys that aren't in conditioning
or don't make the conditioning test, like this is off
season usually, but if you don't make the conditioning test,
you have to wake up at five am or you
(01:37:30):
have to be at the facility at five am and
do conditioning before the day starts until you pass the
conditioning test.
Speaker 3 (01:37:38):
More like, huh, how about we never do these again?
Speaker 2 (01:37:41):
How about we never do these again?
Speaker 5 (01:37:43):
I've missed you.
Speaker 7 (01:37:44):
Yeah, I just renamed them for your coach. Let's do
more than here that jump out to you, guys, do
like one more.
Speaker 2 (01:37:52):
Soccer shit though, Like we're not soccer. We're fucking lineup.
We're like dragsters.
Speaker 7 (01:37:57):
Perfect segue, okay, peract see fit segue from Darren Shields eighteen.
Would be great to get a football soccer player on
here to do the best game ever. So he's referring
to football.
Speaker 2 (01:38:13):
Yeah, we got beautiful game. We gotta get some some football.
Speaker 7 (01:38:16):
We've only had Brandy so far. Yeah, that's wild. We
gotta get our numbers up.
Speaker 2 (01:38:20):
We gotta get Harry Kane on this bitch. You got
to man Byron Munich.
Speaker 7 (01:38:24):
Maybe we gotta fly over to Germany games with names Deutschland.
Speaker 2 (01:38:27):
I know that'd be tight. That'd be tight.
Speaker 5 (01:38:30):
Let's see this one here, Jules.
Speaker 7 (01:38:32):
This is from the Stavvi episode, a recent fan favorite.
Man I wish I was here for that one. In
perse This is from c. Donk fifty seven thirty. As
a diehard Pats fan, I love Edelman, but ranch with
Greek food is a disgrace.
Speaker 2 (01:38:45):
It's when I order Greek. I'm not like going to
a fucking Greek restaurant bringing a hidden valley little pocket
ranch with me.
Speaker 3 (01:38:53):
You know, I keep that thing on me.
Speaker 2 (01:38:55):
Who's gonna like a good ranch with like a kebab
chicken kebob and shit? It's I think it's good.
Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Say a note of that. I'm with you. Okay, I'm
gonna take.
Speaker 2 (01:39:04):
The kid out of the jailor, but you can't take
the jailer out the kid at his core.
Speaker 3 (01:39:08):
It's a creamy sauce with some zazz. Baby, what cover
I mean? I'm with you on this one. I'll defend
your tooth and nail.
Speaker 2 (01:39:14):
Sorry. I'm also a guy who loves a one on
everything too, So judge me.
