Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, y'all, welcome into Go Fight Win, the show with

(00:02):
all the high school football stories you love. My name
is Wes Blankenship and on this week's episode, we will
take a look at what Baker Mayfield did to rescue
a high school football team. An amazing story that you
may have missed during the Thanksgiving holiday. I'll catch you
up to speed on it. A state championship drought broken
decades in the making, great story for Brownsburg. We'll talk

(00:26):
about them. And it is National Signing Day week. The
all name team Hot off the presses will dive through
the best names I saw. Maybe I miss some. If
I did, let me know about it. We'll get them
on next week's show. Tag me at Go Coffee Town.
It's all coming up on Go Fight Win. Put that
pen to paper less, get to work. Welcome to get

(00:50):
the Bob of Donnie Tugs.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
And let that puzg.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
You know I love Coach Dooley's List. Man if I
ran a high school football team, if I ran a
high school football program or a high school sports program,
I would turn to this site all the time. Coach

(01:14):
Dooley's List run by my former high school football coach,
Coach Billy Dooley. It is the Angie's list of high
school equipment gear, all the things you need to make
your program run smoothly. And not only is it links
to good gear you need, it's vetted, it's tested, it's trusted.
It's a network of guys, gals, coaches, people who know

(01:37):
how to run high school football programs and all the
things that they need. And Coach Dooley worked in high
school football, he worked in baseball, worked in softball for decades.
He has gotten to know the best of the best,
and he knows what works what doesn't. And Coach Dooley's
list certainly works. Hope you give it a try. It
is the partner of Go Fight Win. Check out a

(01:59):
link to it description. All Right, the best high school
football stories from around the country. I hope you had
a great Thanksgiving. Hope your team won its playoff game
or state championship, wherever you're at in the postseason. Let's
start with the first story that I love. Baker Mayfield.
This is a couple weeks ago, but we did take
a break off for Thanksgiving. Baker Mayfield helped the Space

(02:21):
Coast Vipers high school football team in Coco Florida. Now, look,
Baker Mayfield is a guy. He's kind of divisive, kind
of sounded like Chris collins Worth there. Now here's a
guy that's kind of divisive. But you know, if he
has to get his hooks and ya, he's gonna do
the right thing. Well, Baker Mayfield certainly did the right
thing for the Space Coast Vipers high school football team,

(02:45):
and he helped him out. They went one to eight
last year, fourteen total wins in the past six seasons,
and they were struggling, and Baker Mayfield steps up. He
and his wife a seventeen nine hundred dollar donation worth
of equipment, including seventy ride elf Speedflex helmets and Matt
Black with shiny purple decals and pads as well. And

(03:12):
that's just an amazing thing. Their coach chiming in here,
Coach Owens for the Space Coast Vipers, Jake Owens says
that Baker and Emily have made lifelong fans. These guys
are so appreciative of it. We talk about on a
daily basis being humble and being appreciative and understanding how
blessed we are, and that is something I think that

(03:33):
gets lost in today's world, not enough of this stuff.
And look, a lot of it does happen, not all
of it gets documented. But a lot of people out there,
you know, in high school football, coach Lingo, a lot
of me guys, a lot of me guys out there. Well,
Baker Mayfield, a lot of people might think he's a
me guy by the way he brings energy and juice

(03:54):
to the football field, but definitely not a me guy
when it comes to the com unity. Coach Owens also says,
you can hear them all now. They always talk about
what Baker does on Sundays. He called Mayfield a rallying
tool for the program. When we've had all the success
we've had this year for many different reasons, we never
try to forget what people have done to help with this.

(04:16):
Baker and Emily a big part of that. And I'm
just I'm happy, happy to read this, happy to hear it.
Jenna Laine wrote this for ESPN. I know a lot
of local outlets covered it as well. But what a surprise,
what a gift, what a moment for the Space Coast Vipers.

(04:42):
And by the way, even if Baker Mayfield did not
make this donation, what a name the Space Coast Vipers.
They secured the program's first playoff wins in team history
and the most wins in school history, defense produced the
most shutouts in team history. Not only did they set

(05:04):
all those records, by the way, they won the state championship.
That team that had one win, struggling over the past
several seasons on their deathbed, just clinging to life as
a program. And what does Baker Mayfield do? Gives them
the tools they need to go out there and win

(05:25):
the whole dang thing. Way to go Baker Mayfield and
way to go Space Coast. And I won't say it's
all because of Baker Mayfield. The guy's got to go
out there and do it. But Baker Mayfield definitely helped.
These are the kinds of things might not get written
down in his stat sheet. You can't really record these
kinds of things as statistics, of course, but they do

(05:45):
show you what kind of guy he is. Maybe you
hate him on the football field, maybe he rubbed you
the wrong way and had a moment where you didn't
enjoy what he did. But Space Coast the Vipers. Congrats
to them and best of luck to them as they
move forward. Speaking of state championships. It is that time

(06:07):
of year and the Brownsburg foot ball Bulldogs believe they're
the Bulldogs they are. They won the program's first state
championship since nineteen eighty five. This is from wishtv dot

(06:27):
com local outlet out of Indianapolis, where the Brownsburg Bulldogs
beat Westfield twenty two to seventeen. Brownsburg was up by
that score and Westfield had the ball with under ten
seconds to play on Brownsburg's thirty two yard line. Westburg
quarterback Carson Melvin knew he had to score a touchdown

(06:48):
on the play, a touchdown as they might say out there.
After buying some time, he threw the ball toward the
end zone, but Brownsburg's Drew Bostick picked it off at
the one in did the game. The Bulldogs outscored the
Shamrocks twelve to seven in the fourth quarter, and that
proved to be the difference. Brownsburg's two touchdowns in the

(07:10):
fourth quarter, a twenty yard touchdown pass from Eusa Stevens
to Brandon Sharp and a Jamiir Pendleton blocked punt return
touchdown got him to win. So for Brownsburg. Not only
is the state championship a huge deal, here. It breaks

(07:32):
a drought almost forty years in the making. And I'll
tell you I saw a drought broken in that same
stadium that they played in there in Indy my Georgia
Bulldogs and broke a forty year drought themselves more than
forty years, but hey, who's counting once you passed a
couple decades. So congratulations to the Brownsburg Bulldogs getting that

(07:57):
win over the Shamrocks who did not have have the
luck that they needed in Indianapolis. Hey, you got any
state championship stories you want me to know about here
and want to share here on Go Fight Win at
me at Go Coffee Town. That's where we take submissions

(08:18):
here on this show. And appreciate y'all listening, Appreciate you interacting, engaging,
and I know you've tagged me in some of these.
Coming up here. The all name team for high school
Football Signing Day twenty twenty five class got a handful
of good ones, a repeat name, a return name that

(08:40):
you've heard on this show before. It's all coming up
next on Go Fight Win. The best thing about National
Signing Day any given year is the memories you make,
the moments that you celebrate with your family, your coaches,
your team, your community. As you close the book, close

(09:04):
the chapter on your career, move on to the next chapter,
move on to the next book where whatever you want
to however you want to look at it, you're moving
on right. Well, some things that are etched in stone forever.
When you make your name as a high school football standout,

(09:24):
get to sign with a college. Maybe it's D one,
maybe it's D three. But if you have a great name,
you have landed it yourself on the go fight win
twenty twenty five class All Name team, and we have
to start with Noah Kenega. It is spelled Noah Noah.

(09:50):
Last name is k n i gga. I'm not making
that up. You've probably seen it on the internet, but
I'm here to tell you how to pronounce it. Noah
Kanega out of Lawrenceburg High School in Illinois sign with
Eastern Michigan, and announcers across the country are sweating bullets.

(10:11):
They're going to have entire seminars on how to pronounce
this guy's name. If you're covering Eastern Michigan football at
any level. They might show up on an SEC team schedule,
they might show up on a Big Ten team schedule,
or if you're covering Eastern Michigan game in and game out,
you're already studying up. You're doing those vocal exercises, you're

(10:34):
getting your tongue, your tongue twisters, you're doing those warm ups.
The human Torch was denied a bank loan, Noah Kanaga.
Do not trust how it's spelled, trust how it sounds.
And sometimes that's a lesson in life. You can't judge

(10:55):
someone by the way that their name is spelled. Sometimes
you just got to judge him by the sound that
they make when their shoulder pads get on you. And
from Noah Knega, that's how it said. I couldn't dodge
the bullet. If I didn't say his name on here,
I knew that somebody would say the all name list

(11:18):
was incomplete. He's the captain of this team, all right.
Next up, Blake Hogshooter from Bixby High School actually had
him in the playoff Spotlight last year. Here on Go Fight, Win,
Blake Hogshooter signs with Houston and Blake Hogshooter, I'm sure

(11:41):
he's down to hog or two in his day. In
our entire countryside runs rampant with the potential influx of
wild hogs. Lord knows on the football field at Coffeetown.
When you go play Root Creek, you never know when

(12:02):
a hog may run out on the field. By God,
Blake Hogshooter, we needed you when Ashley Holt went down,
when that wild boar took a gash out of his
grave digger tattoo. Blake Hogshooter, best of luck to you, sir,
as you go on to play for the Houston Wildcats

(12:24):
Houston Cougars. I beg your pardon, the Houston Cougars, not
the Houston Wildcats. This is a high school football show. Please,
I beg your pardon on the mispronunciation the miss allocation
of the Houston Cougar's team mascot. But Blake hog Shooter

(12:48):
is gonna get you settled. Blake Hogshooter is gonna make
things right playing.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Out there for coach really friends. The man with the
least amount of vocal court strength I ever heard in
my life, Willie Fritz Hogshooter, Duck Comet, what are you there?
We're out there go kidding, Blake hog Shooter. Come on,
I didn't just sign you for your name, son, I

(13:14):
signed you cause you could play ball.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
So Blake Hogshooter is gonna go get it done out
there for Houston. All right. Up next, Anthony Turbo Rogers
out of Carver High School in Alabama. Anthony Turbo Rogers
is going to play for the Ohio State buck Eyes.

(13:38):
He's gonna play for the buck guys, and he's gonna
be the quickest guy out there in the field. I
tell you, Anthony Turbo Rogers, give me a pop. I
want to have a pipe to celebrate Anthony Turbo Rogers.
Anthony Turbo Rogers, great name. Going from the South to

(13:59):
the North. Will he be able to handle the cold
after growing up playing ball in Alabama? I think you will.
He's fast enough to do it. You get those feet
chopping that running back. Anthony Turbo Rogers, great name. I'm
scoring him not just for the name, but for the

(14:20):
appropriate position he plays. If his name was Turbo Rogers
and he was a defensive lineman zero tech, that would
be funny, but it wouldn't be as good because you
don't have to be quite as fast on your feet.
But when you're Turbo Rogers and you're running back five
nine hundred ninety pounds. Previously committed to Alabama. The tide

(14:42):
turned and he is a Backeye Terbo Rogers gotta left
that all right, rounding out the all name team. Here
a late edition that I learned about today. Jamie French
Atamander in high school. He's going to Texas. Now, Jamie French.

(15:07):
You might think, why is that a funny name? Because
he's French. No, because French is spelled with two f's
j A I M E, which is kind of a
French spelling, I believe, or Haime Spanish a Spaniel you'll
go by HAIMI. But his name is Jamie French with

(15:28):
two f's f f R E n c H. And
I am told that the second f is actually silent
Jamie French, not for for French, not for French. There's
no stutter. Maybe he's got a mean stutter step. But
this five star wide receiver is gonna be a long

(15:51):
horn Jamie for French, Jamie French. I thought that was unique.
Maybe it's not that absurd of a name like Turbo
or Canega or hog Shooter. But Jamie French is also

(16:12):
going to Texas, just like hog Shooter. Imagine if these
two ended up playing each other one way or another
down the line through the transfer portal. I don't know
if Houston and Texas or on each other's schedules. Maybe
in the playoffs one day, hog Shooter in for French
and Turbo Rogers awaits in the next round. This is

(16:33):
a good name team here, and I think we're gonna
hear these guys' names. At least one of these guys
is going to be a household name, not just because
of what their names may be, but because of the
names that they make for themselves on the football field.
Congratulations to the all named team. Congratulations to everybody today

(16:56):
on National signing Day, as the ink is dry and
we enter a new era of revenue sharing in college football,
and what national signing days to come? Will hold who
knows a lot of flips at the last minute here
today with nil deals, it's all out on the table,
no bagmen. You can just admit excuse me, you can

(17:20):
just admit it. Got a little a little excited there.
You can just admit it. In il stole our commitment away,
in il landed our best player of the class. We
didn't expect to get.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
So.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Best of luck to everybody as you make that transition
from the HIGHSCU football field to the college football field
Terribau Rogers's got to be a heck of a back eye.
Hope you all have a great week. Best of luck
in your playoffs, best of luck in your state championships,

(17:57):
and best of luck if you didn't make any of
them and you're preparing for your next season. Go fight
when you know how to find it. Hit light, hit subscribe,
leave a comment, follow at go Coffeetown, and have yourself
a week nd. God bless
