Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Good Calls with Dean Blandina, a production about Hardway.
What's up, Dean Blandino? Another episode of Good Calls? As always,
I'm joined by the man in the mydth the legend
the Caucasian Rattlesnake himself getting thrown up symbols. I don't
(00:22):
know what those handiestues are. It's three three, it's week
thirty three already, Oh good show. Thirty three of the
show Travis Hansen, Sha Roughty by Larry Bird, Oh nice,
famous thirty three's we can do that? The problem that
actually so I think this is episode thirty four. It's shock,
(00:48):
it's not Larry byrd. You know what, that's a good idea.
Let's let's label each episode by a famous athlete with
that number. Basically, once we get to ninety nine, we're
not gonna be able to do it, but we can
at least get to ninety nine. I know who's obviously
we we can get to Wayne Gretzky. All right, let's
(01:11):
let's make it the goal is to get to Wayne Gretzky.
Al right, So this is episode on the Tew years
of the show. Who's Your Who's Your Most Famous? Thirty
four looking, I'm looking it up shout before right, you're
showing not three, right, Yeah, but I think we might
have skipped one. Joe might be right. It's not just
(01:31):
the audio guy. He can count too. I'm so good accounting.
I love the optimistic message behind you, Jail. Better days
are coming. Speaking of better days are coming, let's talk
about the current situation, the current environment, Travis updates, cancelations, Hopefully,
hopefully pretty soon we'll be talking about and I know
(01:54):
we've got a couple of updates, will be talking about
when things are going to start up again. That's the goal,
all right. So what's happening around the world of sports
right now? Yeah? I feel free to jump in here
at any time. UM. The first one we talked about
a few weeks ago, the Spelling Bees canceled first time
since nineteen UM at the sporting event. And then something
that a lot of people watch and disappointing, UM one
(02:18):
that was here in l A. I'm just that is
it feels very draconian. It's my spelling words. Don't ask
Joe or I to spell anything that's obviously could put
The Spelling Bees could put World Series of Poker's postponed
(02:41):
um from May July fifteenth. I know Joe is a
big online poker player, right, Joe, you played a lot.
I guess they couldn't figure out a way to do
that online. Obviously people play online poker all the time,
but I guess that's not something that they could, you know, reasonably,
you know, do It wasn't feasible. I guess another story
(03:01):
that caught my Taylor Swift concert at so Far, which
is supposed to be the the kickoff event is uh
has been canceled. That was set for July. So it's
getting closer to that NFL season that we'll talk about later. Um.
A Japanese disease expert was I was talking about the
Olympics next summer, saying the very pessimistic that he thinks
(03:23):
that would happen. And then I saw another story that
people are having a conflict the IOC and and Japan
are having a little uh dispute over who's gonna pay
for all the postponent They saying it's gonna be like
two billions, two to six billions and postponed it for
a year. So yeah, pretty wild stuff going on there.
Sad one uh. The baseball back company Louisville Sluggers closing
(03:48):
down the factory for loan employees because no baseball. There
could be baseball coming up. We're gonna talk about that later.
Maybe possible. UM three cities going to be hosting hosting
baseball games. We hope that will happen. And uh, interesting
one year with the draft coming up here this week,
the w n b A with the most draft, most
watch draft in the sixteen years and the second most
(04:10):
watch ever on ESPN. Yeah, I mean that makes sense.
I mean people are home there their star for sports. Obviously,
the w NBA draft, I would imagine that that is
not a ratings bonanza. Nothing against w n b A,
It's just not something that right that that people are
gonna are gonna watch, um, you know, in large numbers.
(04:30):
And and that obviously makes sense. And I was excited
by New York Liberty getting the uh, the first pick
and getting um, what's her name, Caruscoe or and she
she was the first pick. She played at Oregon. She's
his absolute stud. And uh, I feel like the Liberty
are gonna, you know, at least one New York basketball
team is going to be successful in the near future.
(04:54):
Thinking of the New York basketball team. Um, I feel
like you didn't want to watched The Last Dance. That
was the most viewed doc on the at the N
and the history. They're like, I want to talk about
that a little bit mean, I want to hear why
you don't want to watch it. So obviously, the Last Dance,
this has been hyped, even before coronavirus. This was hyped.
(05:17):
This was gonna be, you know, one of the ESPN's
bigger productions and an unbelievable and I'm sure it was
one of the highest rating things. Like you said, it
was the highest rated dot on on ESPN All about right,
A ten part series about Michael Jordan and the Bulls
during that that run of championships. So here's the thing
(05:37):
I have. I have made peace with Michael Jordan's recently.
And then we're I'm talking about years, We're talking about months. Okay,
I hated Michael Jordan. There was a time when I
hated Michael Jordan more than anyone on the planet or
the history of the Earth. He hated him with a passion.
(05:57):
This was obviously I was younger, I'm a Nicks and um,
the Nicks during that time, you know, late eighties or
early nineties, they were They were an up and coming team.
They put together a good core. Obviously with Patrick Ewing
draft lottery. Winning that lottery and getting you Ing, that
was kind of the kickstart. And they put together a
really good team that it felt like every year the
(06:20):
Bulls were the ones that were beating them and knocking
them out of the playoffs. And and I had such
a hatred for Michael Jordan. And let me preface that
by saying, he's the greatest basketball player of all time.
I don't care who you know, Mr Lakers guy over there. Uh,
and we'll talk about the game that was on the
other day. But Kobe, no Lebron, no Wilt, Kareem, Magic,
(06:43):
Larry Bird, They're all up there. But Michael Jordan is
at the top. He's the greatest player to ever play.
So I'll give him that. But I hated him with
such a passion. I thought he was a despicable human being.
Maybe that was all on my head. I created that
because of what he did to the Knicks. And I've
recently come to peace with Michael Jordan's and I even
(07:07):
got my first pair of Jordan's. Joe helped me purchase those.
That was what Joe a couple of months ago. I
never I've refused to give anything to that. That whole
industry I hate with a passion. So I am. I'm
a much better Kindler Jetler right now, and I'm in
(07:29):
a better place, you know, through therapy and and everything else.
And I was the place. Yeah, I was gonna say,
how much have you spent in therapy getting about Michael
Jordan's Like can you say any of the self self evaluation,
self therapy and just going through it, And I think
it may have helped just having a child as son
(07:49):
that is interested in plays basketball and wanted to learn
about Michael Jordan in the history. Look, that was that
was my time, you know, growing up watching the NBA
are in the eighties and the nineties, and that was
what I fell in love with the n B A
was during that time. And he was obviously, um the
greatest player, like I said, but I hated, hated, hated him,
(08:11):
and I don't want to go back to a place
of hate. I'm all about love and peace and harmony.
And if I watched that documentary, I'm gonna become a bitter,
bitter person. I don't want to do it, So that's
why I'm not watching. That's fair enough. I watched the
first two episodes and I thought they were great. I
was a huge Michael Jordan fan as a kid. Um
(08:32):
they I think he saved the NBA. Like for me,
I did. I stopped watching the NBA after that ninety
eight season when Jordan left, I left the NBA too,
And and to me, he's definitely the greatest player, and
there's no question about it. He changed the game. He
made it what the game is today. He made it
so these guys are making these huge guaranteed salons. Let's
not get crazy. Let's not get crazy that Michael Jordan
(08:55):
made the game what it is today because there was
a bunch of guys before Jordan came into the lead.
And many people will say that it was magic like
that that made the NBA the modern NBA what it is,
and those Celtics teams and those Lakers teams while Jordan
was still you know, getting cut from his see your
brain out the hate. You're bringing out the hate. We
(09:17):
don't have a debate show. I don't want to want
to do it. Here. You said you liked it. You
started blowing smoke up his ass and now I'm starting
to hate again, and this is why I won't watch it.
Now I'm now I'm fired up, and I don't want
to do that. I like it. I decided, being in
a while, this is good. So but the thing about it, though,
which I think is good for everyone, is it felt
(09:40):
like the last Dance. Um. It was it was like
a big sporting event that everybody could watch. Because now
people are watching. Everybody's on Netflix or Hulu or Amazon
Prime and they're not watching at the same time and
just being on social media, it felt like everybody was watching.
It was like like sixteen million people watching. Yeah, and
it was like this, you know, it's that common. You know,
(10:02):
everybody watches a big playoff game. You know, everybody watches
Thursday night football, or everybody watches a bowl game, and
everybody can come in and and and exchange on social media.
So from that aspect, I thought it was really cool. Um,
but again I don't I don't need to. I don't
need to go back to a dark place. It's like
it's like if you if you got me, you know,
(10:23):
gave me a wife beater and a gold chain and
played some freestyle music that would take me back to
a dark place of my past and my you know,
we can we talk about that more, what happened there,
and if you if you did that to me, I
would absolutely fall back into an abyss. And and I
(10:45):
don't mean an abyss as like a chasm of despair.
It's actually a club in Jersey. It's Guido Club called
the Abyss, and they play amazing music and that's where
I would go back to. So I don't want to
do that. So Guido Michael Jordan's that's the nineties for me,
and I don't want to go back there. Can I
(11:07):
get on record that we're we are taking a trip
to the Jersey Shore when all this is done, Like,
I just want to experience it, you know what I'm
going to them? I did, I did agree to that
and I will. I will follow through on that. So
when this is all over, hopefully we have one weekend
in the summer, because the Jersey Shore is a summer thing,
(11:29):
and I will take you to Belmart, New Jersey, UM
Point Plus in New Jersey. That's those are our hangouts
and we we got houses every summer and we'll hit
DJ's and we'll go to Jenkinson's on the boardwalk and
and there's a whole bunch of places. It is amazing.
It you will, Travis. I would pay a million dollars
(11:55):
to watch you in one of these clubs. It is
amazing and we're gonna have an amazing time. Single trap
probably have been better than married with children. Dad, It's yeah,
but still it's a good time. Will come out. It
is good. Like, yeah, I don't know if you you know,
(12:16):
dropkicking dudes on the boardwalk and flip flops is the
way to go, but you know it. Yeah, Um, I'm
so excited that we got I'm just so excited that
we have this on record, Like I'm just I'm thrilled.
I'm excited. I'm gonna keep it on my phone. Let's
go back to so the news broke um this week
(12:40):
and the whole thing. Honestly, it just sucks. The XFL
stuff stocks it was. It was so much fun to
be a part of, and it was really doing well
and it was refreshing and it showed that spring football
could work. And obviously everything with Corona and it just
(13:01):
Vince McMahon and I get it's a business decision, but
then the news dropped at Oliver Luck who was the
commissioner of the XFL, is suing Vince McMahon and um,
you know, just to see how this is gonna play out.
And I didn't realize Oliver had a contract guaranteed for
twenty million dollars and that's a big, big number and
(13:21):
you know, a huge and the way you know, I
don't know. Look, I don't know all the details. I
don't know what happened, but it sounds like, you know,
the XFL they let Oliver go the day before, they
informed Oliver on a Thursday, and then that Friday morning,
they had a conference call with the entire staff and
(13:44):
they let them know. So Oliver they actually let go
before that. And so I don't know if they were
setting that up to, you know, for some kind of
breach of contracts so they wouldn't have to pay it
out if he had guaranteed money, and there was some
clauses and there. It's gonna be interesting to see how
that plays out. But again, it just makes me. It's
just so sad. It's so sad that it came to that.
Whereas a little more than a month ago, you know,
(14:07):
we were you know, wrapping up the first half of
the season and thinking about the second half and thinking
about the postseason and the championship game, and everything was great,
and in such a short time, it just all it
all went down the drain, and it just kind of sucks.
Totally different. Pointing um major League Baseball. You mentioned Travis
(14:31):
you know, I was reading, and this is an interesting concept.
I think baseball is really and I like, I'm a
big fan. I've never met him, but just from watching
him publicly and some of the things he said, I
like Rob Manfred. He seems like just like kind of
like a down to earth regular guy, and he seems
(14:51):
to be pretty transparent and open. And at this point
he said, look, we don't right now. We have ideas,
we don't necessarily necessarily have concrete plans. And I think
that's real. That's you know, because who knows when it's
gonna be safe and these restrictions are going to be lifted.
But one of the plans or ideas that has now
been floated is a three state set up where you
(15:16):
divide the league into these three states, the three states
being Arizona, Florida, and Texas, and you play in the
stadiums in those states. All of those states have retractable
roof stadiums, so you can play you know, weather is
not an issue, and you keep the teams you know,
in those areas, and then you play the games, you know,
(15:37):
a shortened season at this point. And uh, you know,
so that's been floated. And and obviously I've heard you know,
players like Mike Trapped play and Kershaw other guys have said,
you know, they're not necessarily looking forward to being in
essence quarantined or quarantine away from their families and sequestered,
you know, in some state, in some location away from
(15:58):
there there you know, the spouses and their children and
their loved ones. And I can understand that. But but
you know, the economics reality is is that these leagues, baseball,
they got to start playing because it is going to
be a real hardship on on a lot of people
if they're not playing games. And that goes for the
other sports too. And again this is this is unlike
(16:21):
anything we've ever experienced in our lifetime, and um, it'll
be it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. Hopefully,
you know, you just hope for the best, and like
Joe says, better days are coming. Speaking of baseball, though,
I would like to introduce a new segment. I don't
know if you guys remember back in the day, it
was This Weekend Baseball. You remember This Weekend Baseball, the
(16:42):
show on Saturdays, the voice Bob Yucker. Yeah, there was
Joe Garrazola, there was others, but it used to be
This Weekend Baseball and they would do like around the league.
And I used to live for that, you know, as
a little kid. And uh, and so what I want
to do is, since they're playing, and we talked about
them last week, and there's something newsworthy this week, it's
(17:04):
this week entire Neese Baseball. So that's gonna be the
new sentiment. So last week we talked about they were
gonna play with cardboard cutouts. This week they had a
bench clearing brawl. And did you watch the video of
the brawl? Oh my god, we could spend a whole
episode talking about that ten minutes or whatever. It was. Yes,
(17:25):
it was as far as baseball brawls go, it was bad.
It was not a good brawl, but we are starved
for something. It was the most exciting thing I've ever seen.
And even the announcers were like this is exciting, they
were saying. And what was fascinating is that? So it
(17:47):
was it was It revolved around they had a protest
about a back. The one team protested the other team
was using an illegal back. I don't know what the
rule is, but obviously it probably has to do with
you remember the famous George Brett pine right. So the
bat didn't have pinet are on it, so I would
(18:08):
imagine it's something to do with the diameter or the
type of wood. I don't know, but they they protested
this bat. The umpires looked at it. They were communicating
with someone outside of the umpiring group, and they determined
that the bat was legal. So I guess the guy
(18:31):
that was protesting the bat. The next time he gets
up the picture, just threw four straight balls, and like
each one got increasingly and it was like, Okay, this
one's inside, this one's more inside, this one's more inside
than the catcher and the bench. The dugout and the
(18:52):
batter started getting into it. And then the last one
he just hit him perfectly right in the pocket, like
right in the right in the mind, right in the pocket.
And then it wasn't that you should hit a guy
if you're a guy. It's if you hit him, you
hit him below the neck. You don't go anywhere near
the head, and you aim for the middle of the body,
(19:14):
you know, And and that's what you do. Even it's tough.
You don't want to hit somebody in the ribs. You
can break a rip knock somebody out, But if you're
gonna hit somebody the good meaty part of the thigh
or the butt, that's gonna be the best best way
to do it. So it was a perfect bean ball.
And then it kind of it wasn't It wasn't like
to throw your helmet charge him. Yeah, there was no charge,
(19:35):
and they just kind of got together. But it was
very like it was very like sophisticated and and civilized,
and there wasn't There was one push the picture pushed
the one guy, but that was it. And what was
fascinating the announcers are like, this doesn't happen in Taiwanese baseball.
They don't, he said, they don't argue with the umpires.
(19:57):
He said, they don't. They don't. They have bench clearing stuff.
And what was so funny is that that's happening. And
then you're watching the cardboard cutouts in the stands and
you're just seeing the people. And they didn't even they
didn't even put like there was literally, from what I saw,
like maybe eight cardboard cutouts in the entire stadium. Right,
(20:20):
they showed the whole white shot the stadium EMPY, so
it just looks crazy and weird. And they put our
three behind the backstop and there's just these three random
people cardboard cutouts. So that's what's happening this week, and
Time with These Baseball will be back next week, Travis,
and we're gonna go through the teams. We're gonna do
a whole one on one the teams. One of the
(20:42):
teams was the Monkeys, right, the Monkeys, I don't know
what the other team was, but we're gonna do The
mascots were going, we're doing it. They had a guy
like zip lining. So next week we're gonna do a
full rundown and for all the listeners, you're gonna you're
gonna get into Time with These Baseball. And then lastly, positive, positive, positive,
(21:03):
um the PGA Tour is going to start in June,
and and so you know, I looked at the schedule
and it's gonna be obviously a condensed schedule. I don't
think that the majors. It looks like the p G
A Championship is the only major on the schedule. And
I don't know if they're if they're using other tournaments
(21:23):
for majors, but um, look it makes sense. I know,
you know, I was talking to Mike Prayer the other
day and the golf course Mike is a big golfer,
and the golf course at the club that he goes
to in Sacramento, it's open. And he says, you know,
the club shop the club, the club isn't open. The
shop isn't open. Um, you have to you know, you
have to be six ft away from from the nearest person.
(21:46):
But you can go out and play, and it makes sense.
The golf is, you know, you're not in large groups,
you don't you know, there's obviously gonna gonna be no spectators.
And I really I've never been to a professional golf mean,
you know, Joe, you you went to UH Waste Management
in January. I always felt like golf was more of
(22:07):
a TV sport anyway. But you know, you guys might disagree,
but I think it'll be it'll be good to have
something back Joe, you raped about Wate many but you
said it a lot of fun. I've never gone to
golf live barely. It wasn't really actual golf tournament. It
was just but waste. That's the one in Phoenix that's
(22:28):
super Bowl weekend. It's not about the golf necessarily. People
get dressed up. There's what is it the sixteen Green
or whatever it is, like everybody there's a grand stand. Um,
it's a big party. And I've never been to that event,
but I've been to the Super Bowl in Phoenix, and
(22:49):
so I've been to after parties where people from the
from the golf tournament were there, and obviously people for
the super Bowl were there. And you see these people
in these colorful outfits. And I know that you know,
Joe was raving. Um, the sites are very there's there's
quite a lot of good sites, if you know what
I mean. At the point, there's a lot of stuff
(23:10):
to look at. There's a lot of attractive people at
the at the golf course. Is why they ask you
what else you got? What else we got? I'm gonna
take a break. What do you what do you guys? Well,
I just wanted to talk more about Jordan's how he's
gonna donate all the pro seeds that he makes from
from the dock. Now, you know what's interesting about million?
(23:34):
You know what's interesting about Michael Jordan during his playing career.
He didn't give a ship about charity. He didn't be
about anybody else but winning. Okay, all right? Never stand
up like lebron of ahamadad Ali for social injustice? Did
he ever? No? Thanks for bringing back. Let's go to break.
(23:57):
I'll handle this one up. After we'll be talking about
Jed social distancing tips and Travis's next edition next on
Good Calls. All right, we're back on Good Calls Dean
Blandino and Joe because I was on a ramp, Joe
(24:20):
took us to break, and I gotta say that is
the first and last time he will ever take something
because it was awful. You didn't even you didn't even
plug the right segment, so you know you said, actually
segment three is what you said was coming up, and
that's obviously not the case. Well, the good thing about
(24:40):
being the audio guys, I could switch those around. So
it's fine now that you're ruining it for you, So listen,
I'm trying to save my friend. I don't want Michael
Jordan's hearing this and coming, you know, getting upset with you,
because I'm sure Michael Jordan cares what I think about him.
I'm sure he's a listener. I'm sure that's an issue.
So let's let's go. NFL Draft. Obviously, the draft is
(25:01):
this week, and this is this is a big deal.
The draft is always it's probably it's the biggest event
in the NFL offseason. It's I would imagine, you know,
I haven't checked the ratings, but the NFL Draft, at
least the first round usually outrgs UM other live sports
and you know, other than maybe NBA Finals and things
(25:24):
like that, but it's definitely one of the higher watch
So I would imagine this draft is going to be
it is probably gonna break records because of everything that
that we've been dealing with and no live sports and
things like that. That being said, you know, how is
it gonna work? And what's interesting is they had a
mock draft and it was reported that there were you know,
(25:47):
several gms complained and there were glitches and look, it
wasn't perfect, but for what they're trying to do, the
people that I talked to said if it worked pretty well,
and there were certainly worth some issues to work through.
And what they did is they had a mock draft
and they try to test you know, trades and things
(26:07):
like that. And the one thing that came out was
that there was an issue with the trade Dallas was
and they they scripted it so Dallas was supposed to
trade with Cincinnati and and there was some mix up
with the trade and and that didn't go through. So
that created some issues. But here's the deal. Here's here's
how it's gonna work. So there there's gonna be a
there's gonna be a WebEx that is going to be
(26:29):
set up and all thirty two teams are going to
log into that web x and the three representatives from
each team on that WebEx and that will stay open
throughout the entire draft, and that is for the league
to communicate with all thirty two clubs and that will
be information like, okay, with the second pick in the
(26:51):
NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins take Chase Young, defensive ent o.
How State Detroit is now on the clock, so that
anytime the league wants to communicate things to the entire
thirty two they'll do it via that web x. Okay,
So one of the issues with the mock draft if
you've ever experienced a conference call or a zoom meeting
(27:13):
like we've been doing the last couple of weeks, is
people couldn't figure out how to mute their microphones, so
they were kicking up background noise. So that was the
first issue. The second issue was they were doing kind
of a roll call and they were having a hard
time communicating who was on the call because people either
(27:34):
weren't listening, they couldn't access their mike, those types of things.
So there was just some some growing pains there. And
believe me, I deal with this. I have conference calls
with replay officials during the season, I'm doing zoom meetings,
and I have to remind them every time too mute
their microphones because the amount of times I've heard somebody's
wife talking about things I don't want to hear about,
(27:55):
or the guys on the golf course and he's not
supposed to be or whatever it is, and they're not
meeting their microphones. So that's the first part. So you
have that part, and then there's then there's Microsoft Teams,
which is which is a service that Microsoft provides where
you can kind of like Zoom where you can communicate.
So Microsoft see Teams. There will be a secure log
(28:17):
in for each team. So you logging into Microsoft Teams
and you get a code. You have to enter in
that code when you're gonna make your pick. So you enter,
you log in and you enter, then you get a
code you get You enter the code, and then you
make your pick. Okay, every time your pick is up,
(28:38):
your next pick, you get a new code, so you
don't have to log in again, but you get a
code every time. So it's so it's secure. You can't
just if somebody logs in and somebody hacks into that
that system, they would have to get that code to
actually send it a pick. So so that's that's the
pick line. Okay. Then there's a trade line, so there's
(29:01):
a dedicated line where the two teams can communicate. However
they communicate. They can communicate like normal, they can communicate
the text, phone, call, email, however they communicate. So if
the lions and the packers not the lines of packers
probably wouldn't make a trade they're in the same division.
But let's say the lines in the chiefs want to
make a trade, they communicate the trade, they agree upon
(29:23):
it with each other. Then they go to this secure
line and they talked to the league. Together two communicate
the details of the trade, and then the League will
look at it, make sure it makes sense, it complies
to all the rules, and then the league then can
make the announcement to all thirty two via that WebEx
(29:44):
and say, you know, with the eighteen pick the Chiefs
has traded um with, you know, with the Detroit Lions
or whatever. So so that's how it's all gonna work.
And there is a very last backup is cell phone
and land lines to the League office. So there's designated
people at the League office that if for whatever reason,
(30:04):
your connection you know, falters, whatever it may be, you
can there's a landline and cell phones that you can
communicate directly to the League office. So so that's how
it's all gonna work. This is a big undertaking and
the I T guys, you see people at the NFL.
I've been working on this um for for a long
(30:24):
time and it's a lot of work and it's gonna
be hopefully everything goes well and there's no glitches. But
you know, we saw some stories I send you guys,
the story teams are not going to take any chances.
The Lions have their are gonna have their I T guy,
you know, win a bagel outside g M. Bob Quinn's house.
(30:45):
So that imagine that guy's like on a steak out
and he's just waiting for Bob to like notify him that,
you know, the router needs to be like this. I
saw that and I was like, this is really smart.
All the teams need to do that. Well, no question,
I would think that the the I T support. I
mean you probably have. I mean they rely on their
(31:06):
I T people and their video people um to begin with.
But this is this is taken it to the next level.
And I think again a lot of moving parts. This
is unprecedented. But remember you know the draft years and
years ago. It wasn't it was a phone call. It wasn't.
It wasn't all all of the bells and whistles that
(31:28):
we see today. You know, if I if I'm like
Anonymous or you know, Kevin Mitnick, one of these famous hackers,
like this is just a fastball down the middle, and
I'm just people, look, I remember, okay, so I remember
being on a Competition Committee call. UM. This is probably
two thousand and fifteen. So we have our Competition Committee
(31:50):
meetings at UM before the lead meeting, and we'd meet
for a couple of days and we go through everything
and then Rich McKay who's the chairman of the Competition Committee, myself, UM,
we would call the Commissioner and go through the rules
changes with him. So we would do that, and then
(32:10):
we would have a conference call with the media where
they could ask questions. And it was kind of like
a group conference call the media. You would call into
a number and then you could ask a question. You
could you could press a button that you want to
ask a question. So we're doing this and we're getting
questions from you know, Kevin Sefort and ESPN about a
particular rule change, or you know this this reporter, you know,
(32:33):
Mike Flouria, whoever it may be, And all of a sudden,
this person gets on the line and they start asking
a serious question. They don't identify themselves, and they started
asking a serious question about the the extra point and
whatever year it was, we were moving the extra point
to the fifteen And he said, well, have you ever
thought of a better alternative for the extra point where
(32:56):
a half naked grease up Andy Reid slide down the
goal post. Right. So I'm sitting there and I'm going,
what the who the heck is this and end up
being somebody from barstool that that hacked into the line,
that got on the line, got the number and asked
this ridiculous question. And so the Mike Signoro, who's in
(33:20):
the PR department at the NFL is one of the
best people in the world. He's running the call and
Mike is like frantic and he's like trying to like
get that that line disconnected, and he's like, Okay, well
we got So I was this close, this close. I
didn't do it, but I was this close to When
the next question was asked, I was like, I want
(33:40):
to go back to that previous because I have some
questions of my own. So that's that I agree. There
are going to be people out there that are gonna
try to that are going to try to get into this,
and um, but it is you know, from what I've
been told and the people I know that worked on it,
(34:00):
it's very secure. Uh. It's not as simple as just
you know, breaking into uh you know, a chat room
or you know, an online video conference and there are
layers and there is security, but again, that doesn't it's
not the first time somebody's you know, broken in and uh,
(34:22):
give me, give me a conference call number. I won't
tell anybody you want the conference call number. I don't
have the conference called number. So I'm not I'm I'm
obviously not drafting UM, but other NFL news breaking. And
let me say this. I want to take an opportunity
to say this that our colleague and one of my
(34:42):
good friends, Jay Glazer Um last week took a lot
of ship because I don't know if you were following it,
but Jay was you know, made a comment that he
was gonna break some news and it kind of blew up.
It wasn't and the way Ja communicated it was different
than how was presented. And it was presented as Jay
(35:02):
Glazer has this national breaking scoop and he's gonna break
it on Fox is doing Fox Football Now and they're
doing you know, they're doing online stuff and it was
gonna break during Jay's segment, and everybody was up in
arms because Jay's track record is usually when Jay says
he's gonna he has a big scoop it's bit and
(35:24):
it ended up being that the and his name escapes me,
but Brian, he's he's the center for the RAMS tested
positive for coronavirus and that that was Brian Anderson, I
think his names. So that was the news and people
were obviously like let down that this was your national
(35:45):
breaking news and this is what we get. And he
got a lot of like nasty messages Twitter, you know
how Twitter can be, and just a lot of hate
for really not a good reason. So what I've is
this week is there is a pretty big not that
the coronavirus and someone testing positive for in the NFL
(36:08):
isn't big news. I think what people were expecting was
something transactional, right, something's related to the draft. So what
drops this week? And who who drops it? Our friend
Ja Glazer Gronk, he's gonna play and he's getting traded
from the Paths to the box and he's gonna rejoin
(36:28):
with Tom and he's gonna play for be A and
Tampa is going to Super Bowl. You know what this
says to me, Tom Brady think doesn't think he can
do it on his own? Well, you know it will
hot take. Well, Tom, I mean he's got better weapons
in Tampa than he had in New England. Um and so,
(36:49):
but obviously, and it's interesting they're give they've given up
o J. Howard. I know he hasn't he hasn't really
put up the numbers that they expected, but he still would.
He just finished his second year and he was the
first round pick out of Alabama and they've kind of
given up on him, and you know, taking a chance. Look,
Gronk is one of the greatest tite Ends to ever played.
(37:10):
But the old Bill hasn't played in in what two years.
He was banged up, He's had a history of injury.
This is not a gimme by any stretch of the imagination.
M but it is. Look, it's fun. It's exciting to
think of Brady and Gronk back together in Tampa, and uh,
you know, it'll be it'll be fun. And I think
(37:31):
Gronk so an opportunity to uh, you know, maybe get
out of under the shadow of of Bill Belichick and
maybe you know, because look, both great coaches, but very
different approaches. And gron is gonna have you know, I
think he's gonna have more fun with Bruce Harrians than
he did with Bill Belichick. But a ton of respect
(37:51):
from Bill Belichick because Gronk, you know, Grount really could
have he could have unretired and been hit the Patriots
cap and forced them to cut him. And instead, he
you know, communicated, said he was thinking about coming back,
wanted to go to Tampa, and they were able to
work out a deal, so he passed the physical. I
think that, you know, I don't know if it's finalized
(38:13):
yet as we're recording, but it's definitely close and I
know he passed the physical, and I think it's a
Gronk and a seventh round pick for a fourth round
of fourth rounder from Tampa. So you know, I'm so
I love Gronk. I'm so excited for this. Well Joe
and Gronk party. You know, Joe Joe parties with Gronk
after Super Bowl victories. He does shot with the dances,
(38:36):
he does all that stuff. Gron came into the news
room once when I was booking guests of the NFL
Network and he was playing catch with with us in
the news room and I said, hey, watch out, you
don't want to hit that sprinkle in the ceiling, and
he just like looked like this dumbfound and looked up
at the ceilings like they're sprinklers in the ceiling, and
it was just like just so confused by it. It
(38:57):
was amazing. He's, uh, you know, he's pretty much he
well he sees what you get. Like. He's down to earth,
good guy, loves football, loves to have fun. Um, bigg
at hand I've ever seen big like when when when
he was on the set and you'd see him standing
next to and they're big guys, like straight hand how
(39:19):
he Um, even Bradshaw you know, is a big guy.
Tony Gonzalez, Gronk dwarf them you know, big remember you
laying that that day and dud Yeah, and just a
good dude. Um. You know, all my interactions with him
have been positive. I haven't partied with him like Joe,
but you know, might have been more professional settings and
(39:40):
talking about rules and and he was always you know,
offensive beast and parents nice to talk to him. Um
the tight ends coach at the time when I was
at the league office, and how he could avoid offensive
best and parents calls and things like that. So good
for gron I'm ext to see what that's gonna look
look like. I have to think glades are probably had
that last week, but it just wasn't quite ready, so
(40:03):
he just had to go with something else. And in
the Brian Allen and Brian Allen's name was the story
like I'll just go I'll just go with this story
because they only had the biggest story. He only has
the biggest stories. He's not And that's where I think
the way it was presented was that Jay Glazer is
gonna break this big story and everybody expects big stories,
and and that's and like I said, obviously coronavirus is
(40:27):
a big story, and Brian Allen having it is a
big story, but people people aren't thinking like that. They're
thinking some scoop about the draft or some scoop draft.
You think it's transaction for sure. UM. And then lastly,
in terms of just switching gears to college college football,
the Playing Rule UM Oversight panel met yesterday and that's
(40:49):
the last stage of their rules change process and they
approved all of the rules change proposals. So we've been
through so no surprises. They're so going into the season.
You know, the big ones work. A player that gets
called photogeting doesn't have to leave the field. They can
stay on the bench. Here it's stay in the bench area,
and uh, you know some other things. Officials. Jurisdiction starts
(41:12):
ninety minutes prior instant replay two minute time time limit,
not a not a hard time limit, but the recommendation
is two minutes. And so we're working with I've been
having weekly zoom calls, um every week. I'm doing I
think eleven eleven Division one conferences. Uh, there is an
(41:36):
FCS group that has replay. So we're doing our long
calls with each group and we're talking about these rules
changes and process and what's reviewable. And I think I'm
gonna invite you guys. I want you guys to be
on these calls too, so you can learn and study out.
Because I see two future replay officials in my midst
right now. Yeah, take the confidence. Where do you want
(41:59):
to work? Avis, big Sky? Right here? I want to stay.
I know they're Mountain West, but I want to stay. Yeah,
I want to stay in California. Get back twelve, Yeah,
back twelve. I'll take the Wyoming mission Mountain West. You know,
good looking will be out there. Oh wow, Joe's saying
(42:22):
that people in Wyoming are not that good looking. I
want to know I'm when this all is all over,
We're going two very different places. We're going Jersey Shore
and then we're going to Jackson Hall. Did I'll take
my bow or do some hunting. I'm game officiate a
(42:44):
game on Saturday. I'm come down. I'm in for that.
I'm in for that. I'd rather just do some fishing,
get on a boat, get some beers or some trules
like like Joe likes, and we can we can all
go out fishing. I'm in for that. Let's do it,
all right. We got a couple of trips planned that note,
Let's go to Travis. Travis, you take us to break.
(43:04):
Let's see how you do. Alright, let's go to break. Now,
coming up after the break, we're gonna hear about Joe's
social distancing tip. We're gonna hear the brain of Landino.
Now I'm gonna Dickens yet again for another role. I
don't know how I keep getting anything, but you got
a great agent. That's not good. That all right, we're
(43:27):
back on good calls, and I can honestly say that
Travis crushed going to break. He had a new voice.
It was amazing. He got all the information in whereas
Joe bumped and ensemble. Joe. Actually, Joe actually sounded like
Travis during those auditions, and Travis sounded amazing, So I
(43:48):
don't know what did they get to auditions? But speaking
of auditions, you mentioned that going to break, we're not
gonna do an audition this week, but I come up,
came up with a new thing. So Travis, what we're
gonna do and we'll start next week. Since we have
video afability, I'm gonna pick a famous moment in sports
history and you're gonna do the play by play, So
you're gonna you're gonna have the call. So let did
(44:09):
I let the fans in on my radio voice on this? Yeah,
let's hear alright, good calls that the led Zeno and
Joe talking about social distancing m C the DJ at
a strip club or is that radio next on the
(44:31):
main State? In a man and gonna be exactly, don't
forget to tip your waitresses? Exactly. Wow, he just gets
better and better. Man, let's get back he does, we'll
bring him out of his show. Let's get back to you.
This is this, This is a podcast about rules, and
I've got some I've got some rules discussions for us.
(44:54):
First rule proposal, I'm disappointed in you guys that we
have a group text. We have a couple of group
text but the main one is the three of us
and our friends Scott, and I feel like I want
to I want to propose a new rule in the
group text that when someone sends something, we have to
(45:16):
acknowledge it and respond to it before we can send
something else. Okay, because I've been sending too many funny
things and you guys are just sending stuff right over
the top and not responding to my thing. Every Scott
does it, Joe does it. So Joe, you're actually the
best at responding, but you're still not. So. The new
(45:39):
rule proposal is, anytime somebody sends something, uh it might
you know whatever it is, a tweet, a video, that
at least one of us has to acknowledge it and
respond before you can just send something else. Does a
ha ha count just one of the little like you
know you just click acknowledge what I am saying? Okay,
(46:03):
ha ha is fine. A reaction is fine, But you
can't just if I send a funny video, you can't
just send another one unless and here's an exception. The
rulebook has exceptions unless your text is related to mine somehow. Okay,
that's a good rule. It's a good rule. So that's
(46:24):
the one exception. I think you should tweet that out
and or we'll do with this video and see what
the public says. Okay, because everybody's doing this, everyone's so
we need a two thirds vote to pass that rule.
So all in favor would raise your hand. I mean,
I love that because you send something out and you
you're like, you're sharing it with your friends and you
(46:44):
want to hear what they have to say about it.
So I'm with that. By the way, thanks for saying
I'm the best. Um, I'm gonna go ahead and counter
and say you're the worst. So I'm right up there.
I'm really bad too. I'm always too busy with my
eight kids and now I'm working from home again and
doing live programming, and you know, see, here's an example.
(47:06):
So here's good, a good one. I sent my favorite,
my favorite Corona related video of the week. I sent
it to you guys, and Scott replied, that's good, thank you.
That's all I need. That's all I need. But then
I sent last night, and you know you did. But
last night I sent the Vin Diesel video and no
(47:29):
one responded, and then Travis just text another video about
us weightlifting working out from home. No one responded to
my my Vin Diesel comment. He needs I'm awful, So
the Vin Diesel Have you seen that video? No, that
was the whole point. See if you can't. If you
(47:51):
don't respond to me, you're not watching them. We can't
discuss it on the podcast. But apparently this is years
old and Vin Diesel basically did like uh an online
video of him to a Beyonce song. I guess the
song is drunk at Home or that's maybe what it was.
The video was titled, and it's him singing to a
(48:12):
Beyonce song in a very provocative way. And my beef
with you guys is how how is this the first
time I'm seeing this? Especially Scott is not here to
defend himself. But that's the type of ship that Scott
should know about and should share in our twenty six
hours together over the weekend during football season, when we're
(48:33):
together for right usually has the total nuggets. So the
other rule, when there is something viral like that, okay,
we share it and we make sure that we share
it with me that's that's the rule, so that I'm aware, okay, okay,
(48:53):
so that's the second rule. Maybe we should rate it
instead of just commenting, we should say, hey, that's a seven.
I'm with that for the rating system. Yeah, I mean
one through ten seems pretty standard, just your standard one
through ten rating system. Okay, Well, you guys need to
watch the vin Diesel video. Um, I'm playing it right
now as we're talking about this, like, I don't have
(49:13):
the audio up, but you need you need the audio,
but just let it down. Not the time now, it's
not last rule. Last rule. Um vocabulary and words. So
I'm of an age and I feel like like, and
I think I don't know how it all works, but
I think we're all in the same generation or or Travis,
(49:36):
are you a millennial? Uh? Yeah? According to ye, it's
like night. So I fall into that. Okay, And so
when and I'm right, I'm before eight and millennial And
what's that Generation X? Yeah, that's yeah. So Joe and
I are Generation X, and I felt Generation X is
the best generation because we we in millennials older millennials,
(50:01):
but we know both worlds. We know growing up without
the Internet and without cell phones, and we remember rotary phones,
and we remember pay phones, and we remember we remember no,
you know, the video game that was the handheld video
game with the dots, the lights and things like that.
We remember that. But we're also you know, we're also
(50:25):
versed in today's culture and the internet and social media
and everything else. So I feel like and I'm a
good illustration of the best of the best. Right, So
that's that's that. Thanks. So, but at what point can we,
like somebody like, let's take the word dope for example,
(50:47):
can I reasonably use the word dope anymore? And I
think I can, Yeah, because it was in your vocabulary
when you were young, and what you can't say, you
cannot say it, though, I like where you're going with this. Yeah, okay,
So so to me, dope has been around many years.
(51:09):
We were saying dope back in the eighties. It's made,
it's it's it's kind of hung around and it's made
to come back. So now it's like kids are saying dope, right,
So I can still say dope. I agree, I can't
say lit. I don't feel comfortable saying it. I would
never want to say that. I would much want to
see you say that No, I don't say I don't
(51:31):
say lit, I don't say fire. What are? What are?
So let's come up with words that we can't that
us the lower the older end of generation of millennials
and generation next words. We cannot use one KK on
your texts. You can't do it doesn't make any sense
to me. And so there's a lot of in in texting.
(51:56):
There's a lot of like shortened stuff too, like like
are right now? Are? I think you could do RN tonight?
I don't know what RN is right now? Like each HPU?
How about you? You know those type of things? And
why isn't h au? How about you? Why are? If
we're abbreviating, can't we at least use proper grammar? M?
(52:17):
I don't know, but but so lit, fire, KK? Is
there anything else that jumps out? I'm not I'm not
cool enough for in touch with anything. Millennials. I mean,
I've got a nine year old what Joey's what eight? Eight?
So so they're getting into those ages, they're starting to
say these words. Um, I'm just I'm just googling words
(52:40):
kids used today. I have a friend who's twenty three,
and it's like speaking a different language. So how about
shade and shade on someone? Yeah, I think we're past
that fire. Definitely one FAM now a lot of people.
(53:03):
Using family a person's group of friends, but can also
sometimes be used to reference just one member of the
tight inner circle. What's up? Fam? If I ever say that,
shoot me between the eyes? Um, definitely cannot say no
excessive state of excitement hype now, but you can't say crunk.
(53:25):
I think around has been around. Um, you're gonna look
like a fool. But you can say crunk. Wait a minute,
I haven't heard this one. Goals. This one is actually
super easy. It literally means the same as goals normally
would something to strive for, but it's used as an
(53:45):
adjective rather than a Now you can think of it
as meaning the same as desirable in most cases, like
hashtag goals. People say that all the time, Like that
we shouldn't say ashtag no, like like you know, Dean's
got a sweet range rover goals like I want to
(54:06):
get a sweet range over two, I think is the one.
That's how you would say Okay, um a F I
don't I don't feel comfortable using a F. But but
as F as f U c K has been around forever, okay,
and we've been using that forever. But I will never
I don't type a F, but I will say the
(54:28):
words out loud because that's been around. Um, clap back.
Never heard of a snappy comeback? God, there's more. I
know there's more. He kept teasing me, but he wasn't
expecting me to clap back, not not alloud. Thirsty. Definitely
can't say thirsty. I can't say thirsty. Savage, this this one,
(54:56):
this one's been around, that's been around. I used that
long before any of the way they're using in wrap songs. Savage, woke?
What about woke? Woke? Yeah, I definitely can't say woke.
I'm not saying woke. Old guys talking about words they
can't use that. The kids use salt, they have salty
(55:20):
around for Are you on best life? Are you on
best life? Is that? I think we're on the same one. Um, basic,
there's one we absolutely cannot say. Bay. You cannot say
bab bay. Do you know that's an acronym? Yes? But
(55:45):
what about boo? I Booe's been around for a long time,
But I will not say boo. You know, you know,
I know I'm actually, Joe, I'm actually getting I am
getting tired of social distancing. I am nice. You know
how I know that because I called my Alexa babe.
(56:07):
I literally said thanks, babe, and it just rolled off
my tongue. And I'm definitely, I definitely gotta get out.
I'm definitely gotta get out. All right, good rules discussion.
Um Tiger King, new episode, you guys see it. I'm
(56:27):
done with Tiger King. Okay, I watched it and it's basically, um,
Joel McHale, who I like, Joel mccal uh interviewing certain
people from Tiger King. And now I've done it. I've
watched it all and I will not. I don't want
to talk about Tiger King unless it's we're talking about
(56:50):
Joe's tattoo or Carole Baskan admits to killing her husband.
That's it. So those are the only two times I'll
talk about Tiger King, going what about it? Joe is
not to get out of jail. I guess trying to
have to. It's gonna be newsworthy if he gets out
of jail. But um, the more and more it sounds
like it doesn't sound like he's gonna be getting out
(57:10):
of jail anytime soon. Um, but King, I've got one more,
and we should have. I don't know if this is
a rule, but let's pick a a jersey, a famous
athlete for our thirty four episode. Now there's a lot
of pressure to that. This is thirty four, by the way, Okay,
list list I've got so I think the famous thirty four.
(57:31):
I think it comes down to two, but I'm gonna
throw out some big ones. Franco Harris, Earl Campbell, Thurman, Thomas,
Paul Pierce, a chimalized one. O Harris was thirty four.
I thought Frank Harris was thirty two. Was thirty two?
I thought he was thirty four. I thought thirty two
as well. I think what about Charles Barkley. Charles Barkley
was my next one. But I think the two big
ones are Walter, Walter Payton, and Shock. Yeah, you know what,
(57:57):
I Walter, I'm going Walter, me too. You're right. Franco
Harris was two. M I got, I go Shock. So
I think we need to Travis two out of three.
I go Walter, I go Walter as well. Walter then Charles. Yeah,
so this episode is the Walter Payton episode. If it is,
(58:22):
so we'll start thinking about everybody. Come up with your
thirty fives next week and we'll and we'll and we'll
name it best COVID nineteen Internet content. The most recent
thing you've seen go, it's not recent, but the one
that I love the most is when the guy goes,
you're in quarantine. You could either a stay inside home
(58:46):
with your wife for the next six weeks or bake.
Yeah good, that's probably my favorite. I saw one that's
just kind of I saw one that was just kind
of living with some girls in Italy playing tennis across
the roofs of are like apartments or whatever. Did you
guys see that one volley and the ball back and
forth over their rooftop? That's pretty cool. I also thought
(59:07):
one that was funny with uh with a grocery store
manager in Australia. Did you hear about this one? A
guy came back to try to return like rolls, the
toilet paper and forty gallons of pants and and the
guy just gave him the finger and told him to leave. Well,
that's the people that are hoarding that stuff. Shame on you,
(59:28):
because that's that's how we end up with this artificial
demand and you know, take what you need and and
then we won't have these issues. So you know, everybody
gets into that mentality. The one for me I sent
it to you guys is the guy playing Billy Billy
Jean by Michael Jackson, and it's you know, it's the
(59:49):
beginning where Michael Jackson making all those noise and he's
and he's drinking hot coffee and every time he touches
the cup, he's like hey, and he puts it and
it's perfect to the music. So you gotta watch it.
Just check out the gun back to that one. Good
google uh coffee. Um, So She'sam is working hard again.
Another I sent you guys the screenshot. I'm not bullshitting it.
(01:00:12):
She's Am sent me another notification and I'll pull it
up because I screenshot of it. We found it. We
didn't find your She's Am on the twenties second of March,
so we tried again. I got that on Sunday, April nine. Okay,
they have been looking the Shazam elves have been looking
(01:00:33):
for that song for three weeks, almost a month, and
they finally found it. Well, thank you. I had that
minding when he when he sent that and She's am
the song that was on the last Dance episode that
I was watching, and it didn't pop up. It didn't
pop I'm not I'm not trying to bring it up.
But the song it was like, you know, like the nineties,
(01:00:54):
like early nineties raft song, and I wanted to know
what it was and it didn't come up from wouldn't
be waiting hear till they get back. Actually, you know
what's gonna happen is I'm gonna get I'm gonna gonna
get it. We couldn't find Travis, Travis Shazam, but we
finally found it. Dean. I'll tell you why you didn't
get it, why you're not gonna get it. I'll tell
you why you're not gonna get it. Travis. You don't
(01:01:16):
pay like Dean does. When when Shazam finds a song,
it auto buys it, so they get paid twenty cents
every time. So they're they're on the hunt, like we
gotta find these for Dean. You're you just probably use
the free version. That's right, right, You're absolutely right. I do.
I do. They're not going to get back to me,
so don't don't try to. I I believe that Shazam
has elves and they're working for me. That's it. That's right.
(01:01:38):
Leave it alone. Um, let's do, uh Joe. Any social
distancing tips from the guy that I've got. I've got
three tips for uh parents and three tips for nonparents.
I'm gonna make it quick because we're running the one
time here. Parents. Lists they're huge when you're at home
(01:02:00):
trying to teach your kids things. Make list. I don't
know what it is about kids, they love a list.
It all gets done. Number two, Keep the kids in
a routine, keep them up every day, keep doing homework
at the same times. This is gonna be a kind
of serious you know how serious m about being a
parent and um checking on your kids emotional health, ask
(01:02:21):
them how they're feeling about this and and all that stuff.
So that's the serious stuff. The fun the fun stuff.
If you're single, get an exercise bike. You have time
all the time that we say, oh I should do this.
I should learn to play the guitar, I should learn
Now is your time. Get the weights, get the peloton,
get the fight. Can't learn how to throw a punch,
(01:02:43):
Get on Grace University and learn jiu jitsu, whatever it is.
Do it. Now is your time. We probably will never
get this opportunity for the rest of our lives. Buy
a boat. Buy a boat. You can you can float
down a river. You will be social distancing, practical advice
from You can get a boat for two grounds. You
(01:03:04):
can get a boats and you're just now you're floating
down a lake or a river, and you're you're you're
away from other people, my son, and it's beautiful. Get
yourself a boat or a jet ski. Follow me. I'll
follow that with this. Get a motorcycle. You could just
ride around town. You're away from people. Learn how to
ride that motorcycle. You've been talking about it all these years.
(01:03:26):
Just do it, man, it's great, the winds blowing in
your face. Get yourself a motorcycle. Don't put anyone on
the back. I agree that if if, if everyone look,
I get it. Not talking about essential workers and people
that are out keeping the world running so that we
can all sit at home, but for the people that's
sitting at home. If you don't come out of this
with some new you know, some new whatever interest, some
(01:03:51):
new skill, something um, then shame on you. And we're
all trying to do that now. I you know, I've
got I'm doing more cooking. I'm gonna do a cooking videos. Uh.
You know, I got a jump rope. I'm jump roping.
I got resistance bands. I'm doing all these different things.
And we're never gonna have this time again, hopefully, and
so use it, use it. Use I've been playing guitar
(01:04:15):
more and I tuned up the old Beach Cruiser and
got it out on the road and again. So uh,
and I started working out a little bit more. So
good guys, I wouldn't. I haven't been doing anything, but
I do. Have you mentioned the parenting stuff. It's like
I told my wife. I told my wife about like
we don't want my daughter watching the iPad, but I'm like,
(01:04:37):
she watches us on our computers all day while we're working.
I'm like, of course she wants to sit on the
iPad and take it's so hard it really is. Um
all right, the brain of Bland, you know, before we
get into new Brain of you know, last week we
talked about do cop cars have childlocks or are they
(01:04:58):
great structured that way to where they're just they don't open.
There's no option. And I got a d M from
a listener who's also a police officer, and he confirmed
at least in his in his experience, that they are childlocks.
And he even said that one time he forgot to
put the childlocks on and the guy in the back
(01:05:19):
seat just got out on his own. He's and he
said he wasn't trying to escape, he was just surprised
that it opened. And and so police cars are just
your standard childlocks, so they have to remember to keep
the childlocks on. And he also said that the back seats,
especially when there's a you know, a cage, um a divider,
(01:05:42):
they're so cramped that you wouldn't want like normal you
wouldn't drive around normal people um in the back seat.
So but there you got the question was answered, Joe.
So let's go new new brain of blending determined guy
(01:06:07):
walking whatever ship he is going to do is gonna
get done. Have you ever seen somebody walking down the
street like I saw I started a couple of times
where the guy was walking down the street with such
a purpose. Like normally, when if you just go out
for a walk, you just kind of like just regular.
But every once in a while you'll see somebody that
(01:06:29):
is walking and whatever they're walking to do that ship
is gonna get done. Like there's a there's a walk
like it's a it's a pace, it's an arm swing.
It's like you know what I'm talking about, Like that
person is going to do something and they're gonna get
whatever it is, They're gonna get it. There's a difference
between that and just going for a walk. If you
(01:06:51):
have you seen that, there's there's the guy I worked
with that and that's how he walks every time, and
he is always getting stuff done like and he he
could did and it's walk. There was a guy I
was that way. There was a guy I worked with
at the NFL. Every time you saw him coming towards you,
whatever his issue was was the most important issue in
the world. And it was like, oh here here comes Mitch,
(01:07:14):
here he comes. Let's see what what the super Bowl
is is? You know the stadium is on fire, you
know something, it's whatever it was, it was the most
important thing at that time. It's always walking, walking with purpose,
with purpose everything we do all right, where we got
jokes that in This has been good calls with Dean Glandino.
