move on. In WNBA news, the champs are here. The
Las Vegas Aces took care of business and completed a
sweep of the Phoenix Mercury with a ninety seven eighty
six win Friday night in Game four of the league's
first best of seven WNBA Finals. Asia Wilson really said
seven games. That's cute. We'll do it in four. This
marks the Ace's third title in four seasons and solidifies
(02:11):
their dynasty. Vegas is now the only team to win
at least three titles in a four year span since
the Houston Comets won four straight at the league's inception
from ninety seven to two thousand. The m Apostrophe VP
was unstoppable yet again, stuff in the stat sheet with
thirty one points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.

Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray put up numbers as well.
Both finished with eighteen points. Colia Kopper led the Merk
with thirty points, her highest scoring total of the playoffs
this season, and Alyssa Thomas contributed in true at fashion

it wasn't enough to keep the Mercury season alive. The
game was pretty much out of reach for most of

the first half, and Phoenix trailed by as many as
twenty points, but they fought back in the third and
closed the gap to twelve. Unfortunately, their momentum was stifled
when head coach Nate Tibbets picked up two quick technical
fouls late in the third and was ejected from the game.
Per ESPN, the head official for the contest told a
reporter that Tibbets earned his first tech for saying quote,

that's terrible end quote after a foul call on guard
Monique a Cola Mokhanni. The head officials said Tibbets then
stepped in closer toward the ref on the court and
yelled that's sing terrible again to draw the second tech.
Tibbets addressed his ejection in the postgame presser here he is.

when Asia Wilson was handed the Finals MVP trophy, her

than deserved it. She averaged twenty eight point five points,
eleven point eight rebounds, and two blocks, and is now
the first player in WNBA history to win a Championship,
Finals MVP, League MVP, and Defensive Player of the Year
in the same season. The Aces were up to their

usual shenanigans again in the postgame press conference, including Wilson
in full uniform and goggles, sitting next to front of
the show Ben Pickman and other reporters while waiting for
her turn to speak, and then later letting off a
few well timed burps and giggles. It also got a

when head coach Becky Hammond's words had Wilson, Gray and

Young all looking down at their laps, presumably to cover
up their tears. Wilson even held the championship towel over
her face to high for emotion. Here's a bit of
Hammond's comments to the press during that moment.

their disliking a little bit, but I'm invested in their

The celebrations continue for the aces. They were recognized at
Allegiant Field ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders Tennessee Titans
NFL game on Sunday, and they'll really let loose with
a parade in Sin City on Friday. The finals weren't
just good to Asia Wilson in company, though, they were
also good to TV network's advertisers, the league, and every

fan rooting for the growth of women's sport. As I
mentioned last week. The ratings for Game one on ESPN
averaged one point nine million viewers and peaked at two
and a half million, making it the most watched WNBA
Finals game one in twenty eight years. And even though
ratings dipped in games two and three as the potential
for an ACES sweep grew through the first three games,
this year's Finals were still the most viewed in twenty

five years. Some more w News Today got to send
a shout out to all the players who made all
WNBA First and second teams. The first team includes Asia Wilson,
Alyssa Thomas, the Minnesota Lynx's Defista Collier at the Atlanta Dreams,

Berman's original contract was set to expire in the coming months,
and many wondered whether she'd retain her position as negotiations
around her future with the league had gone on for months.
Decisions about the commissioner are made by a board of
people led by a four person executive committee and per

opinion on how to move forward, per that same report,
once they'd approved her extension, the Executive Committee also finalized
Berman's deal without a final vote from the full board.
During Berman's tenure, the NWSL agreed to a new and

approval of a number of expansion franchises, and saw team

sure we'll have more on her extension and her plans

Kansas City already assured the number one seed in the playoffs,
already owners of the NWSL Shield defeated Gotham FC two

nil on Saturday to amass a new NWSL record sixty
two points on the season. Ridiculously good and right behind
them producer Misches Washington Spirit. The Spirit played to a
one to one draw with the North Carolina Courage on Saturday,
after having already clinched the number two seed and home

that back when The aces were, losing it wasn't, like,

they doing? Better and that's a much more hopeful place

just wasn't, clicking and they made it, work and they
made it work when it mattered most at the end

really do hope he learned from, this BECAUSE i don't
know what happens to The Phoenix mercury this. OFFSEASON i

to the, finals and SO i think he's gonna have
a lot of learning to. DO i hope he does

Las Vegas Aces took care of business and completed a
sweep of the Phoenix Mercury with a ninety seven eighty
six win Friday night in Game four of the league's
first best of seven WNBA Finals. Asia Wilson really said
seven games. That's cute. We'll do it in four. This
marks the Ace's third title in four seasons and solidifies

their dynasty. Vegas is now the only team to win
at least three titles in a four year span since
the Houston Comets won four straight at the league's inception
from ninety seven to two thousand. The m Apostrophe VP
was unstoppable yet again, stuff in the stat sheet with
thirty one points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.

Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray put up numbers as well.
Both finished with eighteen points. Colia Kopper led the Merk
with thirty points, her highest scoring total of the playoffs
this season, and Alyssa Thomas contributed in true at fashion

it wasn't enough to keep the Mercury season alive. The

the first player in WNBA history to win a Championship,

this year's Finals were still the most viewed in twenty

people led by a four person executive committee and per

once they'd approved her extension, the Executive Committee also finalized

that back when The aces were, losing it wasn't, like,

now and out of the normal regular sports discourse space

was such a retread over and over of complete and

utter ignorance to, reality and it just made me reinvigorated
to have these conversations using data and facts and to
help educate people on professional sports revenue versus profit valuations versus.
Reality how much money is reported as. Lost i've said

it in a previous, show just a couple of years.
Ago the, end a third of teams reported a. Loss
that does not mean that THE nba is bad business
and no one wants. In that means sports teams work
differently than other business, models and there are also other
business models that operate in the red for a long
time with a belief that there will be profit in the.
Future the idea that we only talk about women's sports

as a space where they should shut it all down
and they're not deserving of, anything and their whiny, YadA
YadA YadA is such a tell for the misogyny that

would love for women's sports to have as many dedicated
