She's now the fastest player in NWSL history to score
thirty goals in the regular season. She hit that benchmark
in just forty games, shattering the previous record held by

LIFE so i went with my Husband to canada and

National PARK as, i said so. Jelly, hiking yeah definitely.
Recommend it just beautiful nature. Out, there yeah. So serene
the lakes are this just blue that you've never. Seen
before it's.

second most points as of today when we, Record this

been the secret to staying near the top of.

know who was going to show up on, game day
if it was going to be a good team or a.
Bad team but we've put the right pieces in place
where now we kind of know what to expect and
it's a sustainable model and we've only continued to. Get
BETTER so i think it's, taken time but progressively we've

all learned how to play cohesively and just created a
better brand.

Of football it's especially Impressive With trinity rodman missing so
much time to be able to find that consistency. Without
her but we loved seeing her come back game, winning
goal storybook stuff in. Closing minutes so what does it
mean for the team to have?

Her back, Oh, man yeah that was the, perfect. Reintroduction
right trend's a, great player obviously everyone, knows that but
you may. NOT know, i mean you can, probably guess
but she's a great teammate and a great personality to
have in the. Locker room, she's funny, she's bubbly so.
In trends at, her best she just makes everyone else around.

Her better so it's been great to. Have her we
were definitely, missed her but, we're just, you know glad
that she could get back. On track as Long as
i've been teammates, with her she's had the lingering back
issues and has pushed through so much and has dealt
with adversity and every aspect of. Her life so for
her to come, back renewed refreshed and be able, to

recommit we're just really excited to have. Her back and
obviously she's off to a great.

home crowd at the beginning of. The season your team
Won The challenge cup Defeating The orlando pride and penalties
a little bit of revenge for last year's championship, game
defeat but obviously doesn't feel as good as winning the whole.

go from runners up to winners?

Year yeah the main thing to win the playoffs is
honestly just peaking at the. Right time like the season
is such, a grind it's, a marathon so just you
got to put yourself in a. Good position, of course
it helps to finish in the top two or four
so you can get those home. Playoff games, but yeah

when it comes down to, the final it's really just
who has, the grint the better game plan and can
execute on. That day so there wasn't much separating Us
between orlando and last year's final or in This Year's
challenge cup going to, penalty kicks but it's just who
can make the big plays in the. Big moments so

hopefully when it comes down, to it you know we
can execute in.

and that very same day you were benched in Favor

The bench so how do you sort of handle those
highs and lows or maybe sort of the irony of
that moment of goalkeeper of the month and then you're
not Playing.

Right yeah that was. Pretty ironic, you know we want
to develop the, entire team and AT times i haven't
necessarily been challenged as a. Starting keeper so It's like
i've played at times with like two, broken FINGERS and
I wish i could have maybe not, played her that
we had someone that they felt confident. Putting in but it, Was,

Like okay aubrey will take you at fifty. Percent today
but as we look to progress our team and bringing
other people to raise just the level of our, Goalkeeping
corps We've Signed sandy mackaiver this year, and yeah she's a.
Great goalkeeper she's young and has definitely a promising, career
ahead and the coaches had communicated with me in advance

that they wanted to get her. Some time And although
i'm a competitor and never want to miss, A minute
i could understand their reasoning, and, say yeah it hurt
a little bit to sit on, the bench but YOU
know i was there to support my teammates and DO
whatever i could in the ROLE that i was asked
to play for.

That, game yeah for the good of, the team and like,
you said in case of injury or something, coming up
to have those minutes for her to feel comfortable having been.
In there you've been a pro since, twenty fourteen your
five hundred and twenty saves and counting our fourth most in.
League history what's the biggest difference Between the aubrey between
the pipes now and back in, twenty fourteen either physically

or mentally.

OR both.

I made some really crazy saves in my first years in,
the league and they look, you know spectacular or Just,
LIKE lettock i don't. Know, Whatever uh BUT then i
watch them Now and, i'm like oh, my gosh what shocking?
Decision making LIKE so.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
I was out of possession, and yeah something crazy. To
me yeah It.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Looked no that's exactly what. It Is and, i'll like
WHAT was? I doing so just, like Appalled but, I'm,
like okay you bailed. Yourself out good, For you but
that's kind of what it. Is goalkeepers the longer, you
play the more scenarios. You've seen that increases your ability
(22:17):
to read the game. And ANTICIPATE and i don't rely
on my athleticism as. Much ANYMORE usually i make. Better
decisions i'm in, better POSITIONS so i don't have to
really bail. Myself out so some people may, think, like,
oh yeah we haven't seen the you know world, these
saves but That's because i'm not making some ridiculous mistakes in.
(22:39):
My positioning, BUT yeah i think just consistency has been
the key to my game and developing over. The years what?
Speaker 1 (22:48):
About mentally goalkeeper is such a tough position because you
have to be so confident in there and you can't
let it get to you if you do make. A
mistake even if you make every, single save if you
miss one that could be. The game when you, were
younger did you struggle more With that and is that
something you've worked on as you've.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
Gotten, older yeah it's something you always have to continue to.
Work on but, you know goalkeepers are wired a little,
bit DIFFERENTLY and I think i've always enjoyed the pressure
and had this BELIEF that i rise in. The pressure
and so that's. One THING like i love penali shootouts
because they totally favor. The kickers but it's your one
(23:26):
moment to really shine and to be the hero as.
The keeper, but yeah. It's tough you're kind of alone,
out there and like, you said if you make, a
mistake there's really no one behind you to bail. You,
out yeah it usually results in, A goal so you
kind of like build up that mental muscle as you
(23:47):
get older and make mistakes and learn. From it it's
just how quickly can you learn the lesson whatever it
may be and put it, behind you because if you're dwelling,
on it you're just gonna make more mistakes and can't
be present to help your team.

From afar how different does it feel when you start
a game at home and you take position and look
around and feel that energy versus when you're on.

Feeling ever. You know, It's like i'll compare it to
like your wedding when you're just surrounded by all your
people and you know they all believe, in you they're cheering,
for you and it's like it's. About you so if
you go to, another stadium it may, be full but

She's now the fastest player in NWSL history to score
thirty goals in the regular season. She hit that benchmark
in just forty games, shattering the previous record held by
Kristin Press, who netted thirty and fifty one games Showinga's

weeks off which is very rare for people who don't
understand the sports world, in season like you have. No
LIFE so i went with my Husband to canada and
visited my Cousin In, vancouver island which was a beautiful

National PARK as, i said so. Jelly, hiking yeah definitely.
Recommend it just beautiful nature. Out, there yeah. So serene
the lakes are this just blue that you've never. Seen
before it's.

Really pretty y'all are enjoying a great season so far
eight two and four tied With The orlando pride for
second most points as of today when we, Record this
plus you just earned save of. The week so what's
been the secret to staying near the top of.

Years we've just kind of had a bit of, a
rebrand like off the, field obviously but even on a
mongst the club with our staff just bringing in, new
coaches new, performance staff bring in a ton of, new
players and we've kind of elevated our game in all.

spirit were very much all over. The place you didn't
know who was going to show up on, game day
if it was going to be a good team or a.
Bad team but we've put the right pieces in place
where now we kind of know what to expect and
it's a sustainable model and we've only continued to. Get
BETTER so i think it's, taken time but progressively we've

all learned how to play cohesively and just created a
better brand.

Of football it's especially Impressive With trinity rodman missing so
much time to be able to find that consistency. Without
her but we loved seeing her come back game, winning
goal storybook stuff in. Closing minutes so what does it
mean for the team to have?

Her back, Oh, man yeah that was the, perfect. Reintroduction
right trend's a, great player obviously everyone, knows that but
you may. NOT know, i mean you can, probably guess
but she's a great teammate and a great personality to
have in the. Locker room, she's funny, she's bubbly so.
In trends at, her best she just makes everyone else around.

Her better so it's been great to. Have her we
were definitely, missed her but, we're just, you know glad
that she could get back. On track as Long as
i've been teammates, with her she's had the lingering back
issues and has pushed through so much and has dealt
with adversity and every aspect of. Her life so for
her to come, back renewed refreshed and be able, to

recommit we're just really excited to have. Her back and
obviously she's off to a great.

Start, again yeah quite a moment in front of the
home crowd at the beginning of. The season your team
Won The challenge cup Defeating The orlando pride and penalties
a little bit of revenge for last year's championship, game
defeat but obviously doesn't feel as good as winning the whole.
Damn thing so what needs to improve or change to
go from runners up to winners?

Year yeah the main thing to win the playoffs is
honestly just peaking at the. Right time like the season
is such, a grind it's, a marathon so just you
got to put yourself in a. Good position, of course
it helps to finish in the top two or four
so you can get those home. Playoff games, but yeah

when it comes down to, the final it's really just
who has, the grint the better game plan and can
execute on. That day so there wasn't much separating Us
between orlando and last year's final or in This Year's
challenge cup going to, penalty kicks but it's just who
can make the big plays in the. Big moments so

hopefully when it comes down, to it you know we
can execute in.

this is sort of a rare occasion for you watching from,
The bench so how do you sort of handle those
highs and lows or maybe sort of the irony of
that moment of goalkeeper of the month and then you're
not Playing.

Right yeah that was. Pretty ironic, you know we want
to develop the, entire team and AT times i haven't
necessarily been challenged as a. Starting keeper so It's like
i've played at times with like two, broken FINGERS and
I wish i could have maybe not, played her that
we had someone that they felt confident. Putting in but it, Was,

Like okay aubrey will take you at fifty. Percent today
but as we look to progress our team and bringing
other people to raise just the level of our, Goalkeeping
corps We've Signed sandy mackaiver this year, and yeah she's a.
Great goalkeeper she's young and has definitely a promising, career
ahead and the coaches had communicated with me in advance

that they wanted to get her. Some time And although
i'm a competitor and never want to miss, A minute
i could understand their reasoning, and, say yeah it hurt
a little bit to sit on, the bench but YOU
know i was there to support my teammates and DO
whatever i could in the ROLE that i was asked
to play for.

That, game yeah for the good of, the team and like,
you said in case of injury or something, coming up
to have those minutes for her to feel comfortable having been.
In there you've been a pro since, twenty fourteen your
five hundred and twenty saves and counting our fourth most in.
League history what's the biggest difference Between the aubrey between
the pipes now and back in, twenty fourteen either physically

or mentally.

I made some really crazy saves in my first years in,
the league and they look, you know spectacular or Just,
LIKE lettock i don't. Know, Whatever uh BUT then i
watch them Now and, i'm like oh, my gosh what shocking?
Decision making LIKE so.

I was out of possession, and yeah something crazy. To
me yeah It.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Looked no that's exactly what. It Is and, i'll like
WHAT was? I doing so just, like Appalled but, I'm,
like okay you bailed. Yourself out good, For you but
that's kind of what it. Is goalkeepers the longer, you
play the more scenarios. You've seen that increases your ability

to read the game. And ANTICIPATE and i don't rely
on my athleticism as. Much ANYMORE usually i make. Better
decisions i'm in, better POSITIONS so i don't have to
really bail. Myself out so some people may, think, like,
oh yeah we haven't seen the you know world, these
saves but That's because i'm not making some ridiculous mistakes in.
(22:39):
My positioning, BUT yeah i think just consistency has been
the key to my game and developing over. The years what?
Speaker 1 (22:48):
About mentally goalkeeper is such a tough position because you
have to be so confident in there and you can't
let it get to you if you do make. A
mistake even if you make every, single save if you
miss one that could be. The game when you, were
younger did you struggle more With that and is that
something you've worked on as you've.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
Gotten, older yeah it's something you always have to continue to.
Work on but, you know goalkeepers are wired a little,
bit DIFFERENTLY and I think i've always enjoyed the pressure
and had this BELIEF that i rise in. The pressure
and so that's. One THING like i love penali shootouts
because they totally favor. The kickers but it's your one
(23:26):
moment to really shine and to be the hero as.
The keeper, but yeah. It's tough you're kind of alone,
out there and like, you said if you make, a
mistake there's really no one behind you to bail. You,
out yeah it usually results in, A goal so you
kind of like build up that mental muscle as you
(23:47):
get older and make mistakes and learn. From it it's
just how quickly can you learn the lesson whatever it
may be and put it, behind you because if you're dwelling,
on it you're just gonna make more mistakes and can't
be present to help your team.

At all there's an incredible game day Vibe At.

Audi field it's just like crazy to see.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
From afar how different does it feel when you start
a game at home and you take position and look
around and feel that energy versus when you're on.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
The road, oh yeah like, you said it's it's the best.
Feeling ever. You know, It's like i'll compare it to
like your wedding when you're just surrounded by all your
people and you know they all believe, in you they're cheering,
for you and it's like it's. About you so if
you go to, another stadium it may, be full but
they're not there. For you they're there for the. Other

teams so it still feels exciting to have a full
stadium and just that energy and really feel like this is, you,
know entertaining this, Is important like, you know we're about
to go, to battle so ANY crowd, I welcome but like,
you said we call It, Rowdy audi, and yeah it
definitely brings us to a new level and really yeah motivates.

Us PLAYERS and i can see the difference in. MY
teammates i don't have to run, as MUCH so i
don't need that extra like. Physical oomph but especially, this
summer it's it's hot, over here so having the fans teer,
US on i think it really gives the team the
extra legs to keep going when.

It's hard there's a lot of different theme days at.

The park i'm wondering about which one's the best from your.
Vantage point like there's, you know bark at.

you shouldn't be letting your. Mind wander you're focusing on
the game and what's developing in front. Of you but
maybe there's a break and you're. Looking around which one
do you enjoy?

GOOD question i like when all the fans are like
wearing the, same thing whether that's a wide out, OR
blackout i think that's. The coolest pops At the park
is a fun one because you get to see all.
The puppies but they've definitely gotten better with that one
in the past years because there used to be like
fireworks and all the dogs would just, be marking not

during the whole time or, but Yeah they're they're all
a lot. Of FUN but i think it's cool when
the whole stadium looks united in.

Some Way chicago stars just had dogs at the park
day and there were lots of reports of dogs peeing
on the FIELD and i couldn't get confirmation if it
was before or after. THE game i felt like that
should have been something that they. ACCOUNTED for i don't
think that's the best for the are putting their.

Yeah EXACTLY so i read about you doing an off
season apprenticeship at. A bakery you have dreams of opening
a bakery when your career's done with your. Twin Sisters
so i'm wondering if the apprenticeship affirmed those dreams or
made you maybe. Question, Them sadly i'm questioning.

Them, a BIT but i guess it's a good thing
BECAUSE now I know i'm more like realistically what it
would look like the one of our spirit executives connected
me with a small business owner here in, the COMMUNITY
and i went in bright. And early she starts baking
around LIKE, three AM so i went in and kind
of just got right, to it helping to bake what

she was putting out, that day and then we invited
the community OUT and, I know i helped the cashier
and giving everybody they're, bake goods and we sold out.
Really quick, BUT yeah i just kind of saw how
much work, it is the time, it TAKES but i
still want to. DO it i just definitely SEE that

i would really need my twins help maybe some other
good friends to get, into it, because yeah it's pretty
time consuming in. The hours you definitely are, up early
so this would be all past.

you know you mentioned earlier that goalkeepers are, wired differently
and you do have a twin that apparently is not
only interested in baking like, you are but also is.
A keeper your, Twin, sister amber also played. The position and,
there's actually strangely a number of twins who have made
it to the elite level of, women's soccer whether It's

the Rapinos or Listener Or Emily's sonnets twins, or whatever
but none of them were competing for the, same spot
that goalkeeper spot on.

The field so what was that like? Growing, up yeah.

It wasn't it wasn't, very, Smart right we couldn't choose,
different positions but we were both like very well, rounded
athletes and that was kind of the early DAYS where,
i mean maybe still people don't love to be a,
Goal keeper like it can be pretty boring when you're
young and not very involved in. The PLAY but i
think my mom was smart and realizing if we wanted

to play at a, high level that was our. Best
POSITION so I think i was more interested than. My
twin amber was. True story she was bribed to be
a goalkeeper For One oreo blizzard or like one dairy. Queen,
treat uh that's all, it took, you know this. Simple thing,
and yeah she went off to Play At, brown university

got a, great education and she didn't play PRO like.
I did but, FUN fact i have a younger brother
who did play pro as well as.

A keeper Yeah. She's, louise okay the hands in.

This, family yeah something something in the Water for.

But also and again it sounds like there was parental
guidance there that this was a logical and. Smart move
but to your point about goalkeepers being a little, bit different.

They're usually A little It's. LIKE polville i was a.
Track athlete we're all full vaulters are a little.

Bit different they're throwing their whole ass body on a
giant pole into.

The air that, might snap they might miss. The, pit
like it's kind.

Of crazy and a lot of people feel the same
way about choosing to be. A goalkeeper so would you
describe you and your siblings as a.

Little, Different yeah and.

All goalkeepers are unique, in themselves but also like pretty
unique from. Each other there's like no two that are.
THE same i have Been told i'm one of the
most normal goalkeepers that people, have MET so i have
to take that as. A compliment, BUT yeah i mean
there's something in, the position like you've got to throw

your face into danger and you're, definitely yeah susceptible to
a lot of crazy injuries.

And last line, of defense yeahs. Of criticism.

Yeah yeah tell me about. YOUR twin i want, to,
hear like what ways are you most alike to?

Each other.

We. Look alike we have all the, same interests whether, that's,
books hobbies even like taste, and food. Exact same but then,
Personality wise i'm a little. More introverted she's a little.
MORE extroverted i say she's the. Nicer one she really
is one of the sweetest people you'll. Ever, meet yeah

just like always looking out. For, others yeah she's got,
three kids so we live very different. Lives now but
she's a, great mom, super sweet like. Social butterfly, but
yeah she's one of my best friends and it's.

VERY sweet i can't imagine having twins that have all the.
Same interests that, feels dangerous but you made. It work
what's the goal for the second half here is you're
kind of making this push toward. The postseason either of

Look ahead, right now our main focus is just getting
better game, after game as the second half of the season,
is beginning like the pressure really.

Ramps up we're getting close, to playoffs and as, a
player you're aware like every, point matters every, game matters
and especially if you have aspirations of winning the league or,
making playoffs like, you, really yeah you can't. Drop points
so for us in the season, Right Now kansas city

is ten. Points ahead they're top of the table and
might be pretty hard. To reach hopefully they can lose
a couple. For us, but yeah the emphasis again is
just on us, and IMPROVING and i think if we focus,
on that the wins will come and hopefully we can find,
ourselves second maybe. EVEN first i would love to win.

The league i've never WON The, nwsl shields so it's definitely.
A goal, But yeah i'll just take it one game at.
