(00:00):
Hi. I'm Jenny. Hi,I'm Carrie. We're best friends and new
moms. We're also the ogs ofHallmark Christmas Movies. That's right. We've
been watching these movies since long beforethey became a Christmas juggernaut. And now
we're here to talk all things Hallmarkwith you because we know you're watching too.
Sit back, relax and get yourHallmark on. We are the Hallmark
(00:23):
Junkies. Ho ho ho, TheHallmark Junkies are back. This is Carrie
(00:44):
and this is Jenny. And weare also joined by our producer, Harry
aka my Dog, who is withus and awake this week. That is
big. Yeah, that is prettybig. He's awake for two reasons.
Number one, he thinks I'm eatingsomething, which I'm not, so he's
staring at me as if I'm aboutto give him food. And number two,
(01:06):
he loves the movie that we're goingto talk about. Like he loves
it. He always curls up nextto me when I watch it. So
this is an old one everyone, but we love it. It's Snowbride.
Yeah, yeah, this is whatwe've been looking for to this one.
Yeah, and this is one ofthose movies that we will text each other
like, oh, Snowbride's on?Yeah, yeah, and it's It's they
(01:30):
still play it like they've stopped playingsome Yeah, because they have so many
movies every year, but this onestill gets played not enough, of course.
No, there were a lot ofmovies this year that I missed seeing.
Maybe we should do a pod onthat we should Yeah, yeah,
there are all movies yeah that Iwish. Well, maybe I'll save it
for the pod. Yeah. Iknow I have a lot to say actually
(01:53):
on that subject. But should wejump in? Yes? Do we want
to go really quick through who itstars? Yeah, let's do that.
Okay. So we have Katrina lawI love her me too, and she's
been She's not been in a ton, but she's did in some other good
ones I think, like three maybe. Yeah, she's beautiful. She is
(02:13):
Patricia Richardson play the Matriarch. Yeah, I love her from Home Improvement.
But she's been in a bunch ofother stuff too. Yeah. And then
Jordan Belfy playing Band Tannehill. Ibent sorry Ben Tannehill or Band Tannehill?
You know whatever? Has he beenin anything else? I don't believe he
has. Now there's this one guythat shows up a homework movies sometimes and
(02:36):
I always think it's him, butthen it's not, so I don't know.
And then we have Claire Sinclair lovethat name, yeah, and she's
played by Susie No, that's herlast name, like Susie. And you
know, she was in oh,what is that movie called A Perfect Christmas
(02:57):
something like that where she's married andit's like her husband's family is coming for
Christmas and her family ends up comingfor Christmas and she wants everything to be
perfect, but then she finds outshe's pregnant. But her husband finds out,
he loses his job, and it'slike this whole thing. But she
plays like a nice person, likeshe's like the main person. She's really
sweet, and it's completely different thanclaireson Claire Claire s and Claire. Yeah,
(03:22):
but I do kind of like ClaireSinclair. I thought you would actually,
I always like that that character.Yeah, all right, jump in
the picture, itte, let's doit? Named after who Carrie Sophia Trilla.
That's right from The Golden Girls, which is now back on homework.
Yay, now that our movies haveended, which we should also say,
you know, even though the officialcountdown to Christmas has ended on homework and
(03:46):
they've switched back to their normal programmingexcept for Friday nights when they do play
Christmas movies and Thursday Night on HallmarkMovies and Mysteries when they play Christmas movies.
I am still watching Christmas movie, taking a little break IDVR at a
bunch because I didn't have a lotof time. Yeah, yeah, I
haven't batch of TVR two. Ijust haven't watched them. Yeah, we'll
(04:09):
see how fast I get through that. I still have some from last year.
I haven't gotten too so yeah, one day. But we're still here.
It's January and we are here tostill talk with all of your talking
Christmas. That's great, all right? Picture it Christmas time. In Los
Angeles twenty thirteen, taboid reporter GretaKane has a friend Dria, that is
(04:30):
one getting married on Christmas, twowearing a very heinous wedding dress, and
then three gets a smudge on saidheinous wedding dress. I mean that wedding
dress is disgusting, so bad.I have a lot of like thoughts on
that dress. And it doesn't fit. No, it doesn't, but that
was it was supposed to be fitted, right, That was one of my
(04:54):
thoughts. Okay, so the dressis going to get cleaned. It'll be
ready the next day, and Doria, guess would never have no, cannot
pick up the dress that day,so Greta kindly offers to pick it up
after her gym session. Cut towork, our tabloid reporter. Greta also
has a new assignment from her bossat the Gossip Rag. This assignment will
(05:14):
determine whether or not she or hercoworker Wes, will get a big promotion.
It goes to whoever gets the gossipfirst. What's that assignment? It's
to find out what is going onwith the tanna Hills, which is a
famous Kennedy esque political family the WestCoast Kennedy's Yes, yes, you see.
Word on the street is that oneof the Tannehill suns has bought an
engagement ring and is bringing it withhim to the Tannehill Christmas at their big
(05:39):
Bear estate. Now the Tannehills. It was the dad was a senator?
Was that the Yeah, Senator EvanTannahill. He died the year before dead.
Yeah, first Christmas without him.Yeah, there we go. Next,
there's a trope right there. Okay, next day Greta notices that her
co worker Wes, who is herTannehill competition, is not in and it
(05:59):
is on, but not before Gretagoes to the gym, finishes her gym
session, picks up the heinous weddingdress, and then heads straight to Big
Bear in her tank and shorts andshe has to get all that perking space
that is running me Austin powers.Yeah, she dates a three hundred point
turn and she apparently has no ideawhere she's going and no GPS, just
(06:25):
a cell phone and a call toher work sidekick I think it was,
or maybe assistant Jules, who isdirecting her via cell phone. However,
as she's arriving, it's cold,it's dark, it's snowy, there's no
cell reception and uh oh, hercar gets stuck in a ditch and the
(06:46):
only way our poor Gretta can surviveis to put on Dria's long sleeve heinous
wedding dress and go into the bivatepop property that's beside her car. It
seems this can't get worse, butit does, because she takes many tumbles
during the walk and rolls down ahill and is consciousness was so stressed out
(07:09):
during the scene because all I'm thinkingabout is that wedding dress. Like the
wedding dress is ripped, its muddy. Yeah, the sleeves rip off,
right. I don't know if theythe sleeves too, But she is a
huge tire in the front that doesn'teven look like it's on a seam,
and I know it's not at all. The friends getting married, I don't
know, like in a week. And do you know how long it takes
(07:31):
to alter her wedding dress? Andhow many times did she fall? I
don't know. The other thing wasit kind of fit her better than it
fit the friend? Well, yeah, and she was much taller than the
front. Yeah, she sure was. So you know, Greta's falling down
the hill and she's lost consciousness, consciousness, but she's saved by a local
(07:54):
man and taken to his rugged yetcozy big bear cabin, his dog and
another favorite favorite Hallmark dog. Onceshe comes to she starts talking to her
savior, and she immediately realizes thatthis is none other than her gossip fodder
Ben Tannehill. Just of course, yes, just Ben tries to hide his
(08:15):
identity and she of course goes withit and He also thinks that, you
know, she's a runaway bride, and she of course goes up with that
too, and she ends up snowedin and staying the night with just Ben.
The next morning, Peter's the sortof butler, stops by to summon
(08:35):
Ben for brunch, so off tothe main estate, Ben and Greta go
where their brother Jared and his mysteryguests are about to arrive, and the
mystery guest turns out to be noneother than Ben's ex girlfriend, almost fiance,
Claire Sinclaire Claire Awkward. Yeah, and you know what what happens when
(08:58):
you see your almost fiance ex girlfriendwith your brother at Christmas and you've found
a snowbride the right night before, you pretend that the snowbride is your girlfriend.
Love it. And this works perfectlyfor gretecause since she needs to get
the gossip for her job. Yeah, bake dating story, here we go.
I love that scene when they arelike discussing it really quickly. They're
(09:22):
in like a wine cellar kit huntor something, and she's like, Okay,
you know, let's let's get somedetails really quick. I think that
scene has such like great writing andtheir chemistry is so good, and she's
like, did she say she wasan heiress? At some point? I
thought I heard that. I knowshe since she went to Stanford and she
was an orphan and she was raisedby her nana and like all this interesting
stuff and he went to Harvard.I think she was like, of course,
(09:43):
yeah, and he rode. Idon't think she's must think about an
heiress, but I don't think it'sshe's not the heiress, okay, And
then they kissed too, which wasI thought was smart. Yeah, all
right into it. Well, Gretta'scar is actually pretty messed up from being
stuck in the snow, so nobodyever has trouble a in these movies.
(10:03):
No one and nobody can ever gettheir cell to work. The phone lines
were down. She is stuck inBig Bear for a while, so you
know, she has got to goget some clothes since she brought none with
her. So the next day shegoes shopping with Tannahillriarch Matriarch Maggie and Claire
to get some clothes. Bretta alsohelps to make some gingerbread cookies that the
(10:26):
Tanna Hills donate every year to thelocal charity Holiday Festival and all of these
activities make it very clear that ClaireSinclair is not okay with Ben having a
new woman in his life. Sheis super jelly belly, very jealous.
All right. The next day isthe children's charity fundraiser. Wait, can
(10:46):
we talk about how Claire said?Claire goes to the bakery and she's like,
I need to buy this gingerbread housethat you have as a display,
and this guy's like, we don'treally do that. It's just like,
well, how much is it?He's like fifty dollars and I'm like,
fifty dollars. That's it for afull ginger ras Christmas. But also,
if you look up close at thatgingerbread house, it really wasn't that good,
(11:07):
the one that she bought. Yeah, well, you know, I
was supposed to be kind of likeprofessional made out of cement, but I
did like that little detail. Yeah, all right. The next day is
the children's charity fundraiser, and thatBen Tannehill not only does he read to
kids, but he takes them outto play football in a we get a
(11:28):
glorious football montage. Yeah, whichis you know a little different, Yeah,
Hollmark, that's a different kind ofmontage is, Yeah, did you
notice that they had just had thishuge snowstorm but there was a zero snow
on the football field and no oneis wearing a coat or hat of gloves.
That's a good point. And alsoin the background it says that they
are the big Bear Bears. Oh, that's like they're the Bears, the
(11:52):
Big Bear Bears. The one didn'thave a lot of creativity there, but
almost is making Greta realize that Benis actually a nice guy. And Greta
also realizes that she's got a bookat out of the festival a little early
because Ben and her are staying inPeter's the sort of butler's cabin, and
(12:13):
he might find her wedding dress, but spoil alert. She gets there,
the dress is gone, but sherandomly finds some letters that Peters wrote to
Maggie right years ago. Yeah,so they both end up divulging some info
to each other. Greta that sheand Ben are fake dating, and Peters
is basically that he's been in lovewith Maggie his whole life, but he's
(12:33):
kind of stuck in the friend zone. Right. I have more to say
about that, lawyer. Yeah,Peters was very confusing. Peters also sent
the dress away to get it cleanedfor Greta. He's a nice guy.
Yeah, he is a nice guy. Yeah. So now there's this growing
attraction between Greta and Ben, andshe's even found out that Ben's true dream
is to be an author and nota politician. And he let her read
(12:56):
his manuscript. Yeah, big deal. And again I'll be talking about that
kinder Okay. So now Greta's startingto feel a little bad about this ulterior
motive that she has to get thegossip on the Tannehills. And that night
is the local Christmas bo big Bear. So Ben buys Greta a bunch of
dresses and one of them just happensto fit perfectly. So he brings in
(13:20):
like three shopping bags, which youknow, for homework or not really shopping
bags, they're actually gift bags.Yeah, and all I kept thinking is
there is no way that a ballgown. And he says he's gotten her
multiple sizes for her to triumph yus. She is, there's no way they're
fitting in those three bags. That'sthat's another point. The dress that she
ends up wearing is sort of amermaid. Yes, he could floor length
(13:43):
ball gown. It's like just likea dress that you can throw in a
bag, right, like that dressgetting in a dress bag. Yeah yeah,
but whatever, my mineor detail, because it works out. Ben and
Greta go together to the ball andshe gets her Hallmark walk down the stairs
entrance in the beautiful mermaid red ballgown. Yeah she looks beautiful, Yeah
(14:07):
she does. And Ben and Clairehave a great I'm not sorry. Ben
and Gretta have a great time. And this does not make Claires and Claire
happy, No, And they havea pretty hot kiss they do. Yeah,
and you know what, it's okaythat Claire's not happy because brother Jared
proposes to her at the ball, right, yeah, and she accepts and
(14:28):
Ben books it out of there, and rather than staying to get snaps of
the engagement for the gossip Rag,Gretta decides to follow him and he basically
tells her how awful his relationship withClaire was and that he realized she was
feeding gossip to the gossip rags.Yep, which you know, another conundrum
here, it's just growing. Andlike Carrie said, we got a very
(14:50):
passionate kiss between Greta and then She'sin a tough situation here. She's really
just not sure what to do,except for the fact that she should.
She decides sub Ben's manuscript to apublisher. And you know what what,
Greta's situation is about to get worsebecause our friend Claire Sinclaire does some online
(15:13):
stocking and realizes just who Greta is, and she dramatically tells the whole family
that Greta is actually a gossip reporter, and Greta tries to explain, but
Ben's like, now get out please. While they were watching the bowl game,
which I was like, wait,I thought those football bowl games were
(15:33):
on after Christmas. But then Idid look it up and some of them
are before Christmas. Yeah. Ithink it's like the better you are,
the later you play. See.I'm not really that into college football either,
you know. I love the Steelers. Yeah, and I am a
what are you, jed, I'ma fan of the bad since nineteen ninety
(15:58):
one, Washington now Commanders. It'sbeen a tough thirty years after all.
Right, So, now that Greta'sout of the way and back in La
Claire sin Claire comes to the gazeboto confess to Ben that she actually doesn't
want to be with Jared. Shewants to be with Ben. She misses
(16:19):
him, and Ben's like, uhno, you're awful. You're engaged to
my brother and you proposition to myfather at one point. Yes, that's
so gross, and he's like,I'm about to go tell Jared, but
Jared's actually right there, but Ilove like Claire's and Claire's just like a
Yeah. Clara throws a fit, throws the engagement ring into the snow because
(16:44):
it's now back in Big Bearry eventhough it was out for the for the
football game, and she storms off. Claire's gone back in La Greta has
quit her job or else got fired, I wasn't sure which one. Rather
than divulge any of the information aboutthe Tannehill clan that she got while she
was in Big Bear, and whilecleaning out of her stuff from her desk,
she notices none other that a Oreher favorite Claire's and Claire at the
(17:08):
gossip Rag giving up info on thefamily. So it was her all along.
Yeah, So Greta dries back outto Big Bear to warn the Tannehills.
But you know what what In anodd twist, of events. It's
not a big deal because matriarch MaggieOne hadn't bought the magazine. Sure,
she said, she can just goahead and stop the story from being published.
(17:30):
You see. What happened was Maggiehad Peters, the sort of butler,
to a background check on Kreta, and she knew the whole time who
Greta was, but was like,eh, I kind of want to see
what happens between her and Ben,so let's just plant the story. And
then she yeah, was like givingher information, Yeah, to see if
(17:52):
she goes to the rag with it. If she does, we'll know,
you know, we'll see Greta's foodtrue colors. If not, we'll just
let her keep this ruse up becausemaybe her and Ben have a future.
Very odd, but I guess itworked. Yeah, I mean, I
guess things work like that when youhave the kind of money to just buy
a gossip magazine. Yeah, exactly, so Greta Lee's for a second time,
but not before giving Ben an envelopethat contained a I guess it was
(18:15):
like a letter from the publisher sayingthey were ready to talk to him about
a contract because she had submitted hismanuscripts made me wonder how did she submit
it because she was reading hard poppyhe ragged it out, So did she
just take the whole thing or didshe scan it? Maybe that's you know
what Peter's probably scanned it for,but he did. I bet Peters has
(18:38):
it, and then Maggie knew aboutit, but it was like, go
do it. Yeah. Yeah,So she had submitted it to an agency
and in a matter of days, right before Christmas, they read it and
they are ready to give him acontract. So that's good. Go Ben,
Yeah, those Tannehills. So nextscene, we're at Doria's wedding and
(19:02):
Gret is there alone and the uglywedding dress is a slightly less ugly sleeves
got taken off. Yeah, andit actually got altered to fit her.
And guess who shows up at thewedding who our almost published author Ben Tannahill.
I love that black dress that Iknow. We're so pretty. I
have to go to a wedding, not even soon, but I was like,
(19:23):
I want to wear that dress toit. Yeah, it's gorgeous.
Anyway, we get a happy endingbetween because Doria actually invited him. Yes,
yes, so we get a happyending we get a Christmas kiss,
we get Ben Tannehill and Greta Caanetogether for maybe ever. I love the
ending. And also I didn't realizeit until this viewing that Doria sent that
(19:45):
invitation, but she put it thatit was from the wedding dress. Yeah,
it was from Doria's dress. That'scute. It is cute. I
really that dress, though I couldn'tfigure it out. And what was it
about the dress, like you hadto wear it for love or something?
A woman in that family and thegroom's family had worn that dress. Mmm.
(20:06):
I love when I was like,yeah, that's love. Yeah.
Also I noticed that the gazebo whereClaire said Claire had her big fit,
which I loved. That gazebo wasdecorated. And then it made me realize
that I want a gazebo and Iwould decorate my casibo as well, obviously
with Twinkly. Do you think youwould use a gazebo or you just want
it for I would use a gazeboto take photos of my daughter goes to
(20:30):
the problem, you know, soyou need Yeah, okay, okay,
we can make that happen. Ithink, yeah, okay, I mean
you know. My backyard's a hill, so it'll be an interesting one.
But you can make a platform gazebo. Yeah yeah, words, yeah,
so should we talk CCBs, let'srate it. Let's rate it. What
are you thinking? One to fiveCCBs, I give it a five.
(20:52):
Whoa Yeah, I love Snowbride.I love this movie. I don't have
many instructive crit things to say aboutit. I've always liked this movie from
the very beginning. It came outin twenty thirteen. I watch it every
year. Yeah, and I justI like it. I like everything about
it. Yeah, I would giveit a four. Okay, I do
(21:15):
love it. I love Katrina Law. It's just not in my top tier.
It's like in my nextier. ButI do love the absurdity. I
love the absurdity of the storylines. That's just my favorite Hallmark thing is fake
relationship. Yeah yeah, I loveabsurd stories. So that's what makes this
good. And I do like therustic big Bear Christmas Yeah, I need
(21:40):
too. And that house looks likeit would belong to that kind of family.
It does, yeah yeah, andthen it made me wonder where they
live the rest of like in Yeah, I know, I know because I
you know, I wondered the samething because I was like, a political
dynasty family really should live on theEast coast because the West coast is Hollywood.
Like a gossip rug isn't going tobe following a political family on the
(22:00):
West coast, right, I would? I don't know. I don't feel
like we ever hear about political peopleon the West coast. Right, So
like when Schwarzenegger was governor, thegovernator, the dominator. Yeah, well,
and I think Jared lived in NewYork. He was a stocker,
was a stockbroker, right with that? No? No, yeah, Well,
(22:25):
while we ponder this, I thinkwe should take a break. Let's
take a break. We'll be backin a minute. All right, we
are back and we're going to startour free for all segment. Okay,
(22:45):
let's do it. Any thoughts wehad on the movie, Carrie, do
you want to start us off?I do? Okay. My biggest takeaway
from this movie is that there area lot of layers of clothing this movie.
There's there's so many men wearing sweaterslayer over flannel type shirts, blouses
(23:11):
for men what would call that?Scarves and jackets? And it makes me
laugh because my husband he always pointsthat out. He hates. Yeah,
he made us make it a Bengosquare. He was sure did wearing too
many layers? Yeah, And I'malways like, no, they don't,
but in this movie they actually do. Maybe this was the first movie I
(23:32):
showed him. I don't know, but he's just like, oh my god,
look they have like four layers onand they're inside the house. Which
is also a problem for me becauseI am hot all the time. I
would love that in your puffy coata scarf, but I like, I
like a layered look. But Ilike when like the blouse is actually just
(23:55):
attached to a sweater, like it'snot two things. Like I'm really into
the fake out layer like a dicky. Is that what it's called, Like
the fake cairl neck thing. Yeah, but like one that is actually attached.
Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, and it just looks
like you've layered, but you haveit because I'm hot. But yeah,
this movie, I was like,oh my god, well, if you're
hot, maybe you should try thelacey off the shoulder sweater. Look.
(24:19):
Oh, I was watching something else, a different lacy movie, not the
Scottish one. It may have beenhaul Out the Holly too, and she'd
get another off the shoulder sweater. What are you doing this year? Lazy?
Yeah, she's big into them.I'm gonna get you one, I
think, since you're hot, Well, they give me a strapless brawl.
That's comfortable. Okay, I'm onit, all right, I'm on.
But yeah, so I really noticedit. Peter's always every scene. Peters
(24:45):
has the latest look, but allthe guys do, and the girls just
wear a lot of sweaters with scarvesyes inside, definite claires. And Claire
showed up in a sweater with ascar. Yeah, she sure did.
So that's my f I have myfirst thought, and I love this about
the movie, but is I reallyquestion every single one of the Tannehill's decisions
(25:11):
in this movie, from mother toson and mostly Maggie, because like,
you're one, your son Jared isdating a woman who you know proposition to
your husband and you don't mention itto him. And you also know that
he dated your other son, likemaybe mention it to him. Yeah too,
you know that a tabloid reporter isis with your other son. You've
(25:34):
done a background. You know she'snot who she says she is because she
said she's Greta Kane Abelsteinsky exactly. And you know they've talked about how they're
tired of the paparazzi and being thepolitical or the gossip fodder and stuff like
that, And so you're not goingto mention to him like, hey,
we did a little back of Petersor short of Butler, did a background
(25:55):
check and this is a gossip reporter. Instead you're like, know what I
should do. I should buy theactual gossip magazine. That just makes it.
And then and then you're Jared andyou're okay with proposing to the woman
that your brother broke up with lessthan a year ago and almost was married
too. Yeah, and it wasa messy breakup. I think it sounds
(26:18):
like it was a messy breakup. And then Ben just takes this random woman
that he finds and that has falleninto the snow he thinks literally walked out
on her wedding that day. Yes, yes, And also he walks in
on her multiple times reading his stuffthat he didn't want her to read.
(26:40):
And to me, that's very private, Like you, I would be very
upset if I saw that. Sure, And he's just like, let's be
fake dating for the weekend, staywith me in the caretaker's cabin, even
though that's Peter's cabin. And whydidn't he tell his brother Jared that,
Hey, I realized Claire was givinghim pholks to the gossip like, and
(27:00):
just all of them love Claire becauseliterally every scene with him and Claire,
like, he looks like he's stillin love with her, like when Jared
proposes it and looks like he's upsetbecause he loves her. Yeah, maybe
he's supposed to be upset because he'slike, you know, this chick is
giving info to the tabloids. Andeven when she came to the gazebo,
(27:23):
he held her hands for a while, and like, every time I watch
the movie, I'm like, ishe gonna it? Looks kind of like
he wants to get back with her, but he doesn't. So yeah,
those Tannehills, I mean, well, and also Maggie. So it's actually
a scene that I really like. It's after I believe it's after the Fancy
Ball and then or maybe we shouldcall it the Swinky the Swinky Party,
(27:47):
So what's her name? Gretta cannotsleep, so she goes outside and sits
with Maggie and they have like thisconversation it's really sweet. But that's when
Maggie gives her the info that ClaireSinclair proposition and her husband, and then
she's like, well, I knewI could trust you because I gave you
this info and you didn't publish it. It's like the next day. And
(28:11):
the other thing I thought about thatwas she calls up Lou who is Greta's
boss or X boss at that point, and she's like, yeah, we
shouldn't publish. That's that's just wouldn'tbe the direction we want to go.
Like, wouldn't Blue know that youknow that the Tannehills bought this magazine in
your Stone to publish a story andhe apparently knew her. Blue and Maggie
had known each other for like yearsand years and years. And Greta does
(28:33):
say at one point like, okay, so he got engaged. That's really
not even that big of a story. It's not yeah, wonder what celebrities
do I know? Yeah, itwas. The gossip brag buying thing was
one a very weird twist in thestory, and two like what yeah,
maybe really questioned Maggie. Maybe Maggiealso buys the publisher Grenas his manuscript too.
(29:00):
No, this is these are verygood points. I read somewhere that
every person or almost every person inthis movie lies at some point. Yeah.
Yeah, and I read too becauselike Ben was so upset that Greta
had lied to him, but itwas like you were also living a pretty
big lie. Yeah. And thenthere is a point too where Claire Sainclair
she says something to Jared like youonly proposed to me to get back at
(29:22):
your brother, and was like, for what what was that story? I
think feeling like they need to dolike a second movie, but about Jared
now, like now, oh yeah, they're broken up, Like that would
be a good movie, sing andhe could start at Greta and Ben's wedding.
That's a good one. Yeah, they're not going to do it,
but it would be great. Yeah, it would be random thought plus a
(29:45):
question. Uh huh. Random thoughtis I have never made a gingerbread house.
If I talked about that before,I don't think you have. No,
No, I haven't. And Iasked my mom about it. She
was just like, I don't know, you know my mom Cheeter McGee.
Yeah, and so I don't know, why did you ever make a gingerbread
house. I have, yeah, not like from a kit, not from
(30:08):
scratch, you know what I mean. But yeah, I've made a few
interesting And they did have some gingerbreadcookies which I did think looked good.
But when crunch, yeah, I'dthought about it the same thing. They
looked decent. And even when hedid piped the frosting on him, it
was really nice piping. But no, yeah, cookies are meant to be
(30:32):
soft. Yeah, and there weretwo secret ingredients and it was part of
mom and black pepper or something.Oh yeah, weird. Yeah, what
else do you have? Oh?This was something I could not get over
in the movie. So you knowhow when we watched a Merry Scottish Christmas,
you said that max teeth were likeso straight, super straight. Yeah,
(30:57):
that's all you know. I didnot notice that in this movie.
Ben Tannehill's teeth were so straight.I think they could give Max a run
for his money. They were sostraight and so white, and it was
like that was almost all I couldsee when I was watching him in the
movie. I'll have to pull upside by side. We need to do
(31:18):
a side by side of both ofthem and see whose teeth are one straighter
and two whiter. Okay, butboth of them are like seventy shades whiter
than mine and much straighter than mine. Yeah. I couldn't stop thinking about
that. Oh okay, yeah,I gotta go back and look at that.
Yeah, I think Peters is awesome. I need you to explain Peters
(31:41):
to me. I don't get Peters. Okay, Well, so I think
the deal is that him and Maggiedated there are okay, when they were
like in high school age or something, and then somehow they lose touch.
Yeah, I guess because it's beforeFacebook. And then Peters gets a job
working for Evan Tannan Hill. Butdid he do that on purpose to get
(32:04):
into Maggie's Like, oh, okay, so he just started working for Evan
for his campaign for whatever. Andthen one day he's like, oh,
my wife's here today to visit, and she walks in and he's like,
oh snap, Like that's a girlI loved when I was younger. But
then it's like he somehow ends upworking like and you're right, is he
a butler or is he like becauseit sounds like he would have been maybe
(32:28):
like the right hand man to Evan? Right, Yeah, like chief of
staff, but then they're also justlike then they're just also like really good
friends, but he's in love withher. I just kept thinking, like,
man, that would suck, Likewould you be able to be like
a sort of butler to someone likethat you were in love with and watch
them be in love with someone else? And I kept thinking about Victor,
(32:52):
Poor Victor and the doctor Quinn SlashLacey schmer Fordney a movie like that was.
Victor's situation was way worse because Victorwas, like, you know,
with Royalty, he was the butlerand he had to be like right in
the same house where the love ofhis life was, you know, having
(33:14):
relations with her king husband. Likehow hard is that? That's awful?
It's very It's a sad would bea whole different movie just with like Peters,
Yeah, yeah, Peter's and Maggie, but then they dance, I
know, I know, so therewas kind of like love brewing between the
use. Greta is like, hey, you know who else looks really hot
(33:36):
tonight? Maggie? Why look amazing? Yeah, Greta looked amazing, And
I want to do my hair likethat for something. I know. I
was thinking that too, but minewould be all kinds of messed up with
him five minutes. But I don'tknow. Does that explain Peters? Yes,
that helps me, but it's stillme. It's still icky to me.
(33:57):
It's just icky. Yeah, it'sweird. Yeah. I do like
when Jared comes in and he likekind of puts on this accent and it's
like, oh, Peters, whatelse do you have? There was one
thing that did make me laugh. So this is a political dynasty, right,
Like they're they're they're obviously a veryrich like the Kennedy's, right yeah,
(34:19):
and they go and do this localcharity event. They're philanthropist and you
know, they're just such do goots. And I think it was either like
the bake sale or whatever. Theywere like we raised two thousand dollars.
I'm like, that's like absolutely nothingto this family and seem like it's a
lot of money. They just likegrab some cash, right yeah, like
here, let me give you thespare change I have in my wallet right
(34:42):
well, and then I was soconfused about the bake sale because like I
was like, what how is thisworking like with this gingerbread house because Breta
made cookies, so like it's abake sale, so people are going to
that money and gets cookies. Yeah, and then I was like, what
what would somebody really like on thisgingerbread house? And of course Jared was
the one who ends up hitting onit. I was like, that's such
(35:06):
a weird, odd thing to bringto a bake sale. I know,
I know, they just make somerice Krispy trees and like call it a
day. Did you like when ClaireSinclaire was like like I had to marry
a stockbroker. I know she could. It was because she wanted him to
be a politician, right, yeah, she really wanted to be a political
(35:27):
lay Yeah, who would want that? And I was like, why because
they work long hours or and they'remaking Jillian dollars? They yeah, I
would guess stockbrokers even make more.Yeah oh yeah, yeah, because they're
not on the GS scale or whatever. Uh. Yeah, I don't think
I really have anything else. Ionly have a couple more things for you
(35:49):
to tell me. Okay. Numberone is a fun fact. Did you
know that Doria's husband in the movieis Katrina Law's real life husband. I
read that somewhere recently. Yeah, and then I really I tried to get
like a really good look at him. So I wanted to be like,
who's who you marry? They don'tlike he's kind of background he is,
(36:10):
Yeah, Okay, I had anotherone. So I was confused by Peters.
Two other things, I was alittle confused by who was Jules or
Julia? Was that an assistant orwas that a coworker. I kind of
couldn't figure her out either because Iwas like, is that her personal assistant?
(36:30):
Like is she at that level?Like she didn't seem that high to
have a personal assistant. Yeah. And then and also just because publishing in
terms of like tabloids and magazines andnewspapers are kind of going downhill, like
I don't think they would yeah affordthat. And then I was like and
also when she gets fired slash quits, then would the assistant not have anyone
(36:52):
to work for? Right? Yeah? And then the other thing was Doria.
Did they ever say who Dori wasto Gretta, Like was she a
friend? Was she a f Iassume she was a best friend because I
thought roommate. I had roommate downat first, and then I was like,
is she yeah, I guess justbest friend and she's in Is she
(37:15):
in the wedding? Is she likea bridesmaid? She says something, but
I kind of missed it. Butshe said something about a bridesmaid. Okay,
okay, that's all I had, except for when Greta is sitting at
her desk after she talks to Loufor the first time about her new assignment.
They have some of the Pulse coversabout the Tannehills, and you have
(37:36):
to pause your TV next time andlook at the covers. They're so great.
Oh man, yeah, I sawone of one of the headlines,
but I forget what it was.I don't know. Okay, excellent,
all right. Should we move onthen to romance? When I won?
Yes, so then I guess you, as the romance author of the two
of us, can start out well. I kind of even have two to
(38:00):
writer y things takeaways from this moviethat I want to talk about a little
bit. The first one was hebeen you know, has written this book,
and it seems, while I'm wrong, that he's never had anyone read
his writing before, and he hasa very accurate response to her picking up
(38:24):
his things. I mean, ofcourse he did leave it out, I
will say that, but you know, she just starts reading his book.
The first time you, as awriter, have someone else reading your stuff,
no matter what it is you've written, is terrifying. You feel so
vulnerable, like it's just like youjust want to throw up. I mean
(38:46):
even now, I'm I am like, you know, you have read a
lot of my stuff before I've sentit to even like my agent, my
mom has read a ton of mystaff and I'm a lot. I'm fine
with it, but I still inthe back of my mind kind of feel
like, oh, you should gothrow up right now. And I also,
(39:07):
I feel like it's basic manners thatyou don't read other people's things,
no matter what it is. Ifit's somebody else's yeah, I mean,
unless writing, you don't read it. It's that's a for a writer,
that is a tough I would beso upset if I were him, and
I'm not even a writer, butyeah, I would have been very rus
(39:27):
too. Is that you have toat some point have someone read your stuff,
right, Yeah, And a lotof writers, and I know a
lot of writers who have been writingfor years and years and years or their
whole lives, and they desperately wantto be published, but they will not
send their stuff in because they aren'tthat afraid. There is a lot of
vulnerability. Yeah, I think forme, I started submitting writing when I
(39:52):
was like in my early twenties, and I was so stupid and young that
I was just kind of like, you know, well, if I don't
send it in, like, noone's going to ever publish it, so
might as well just do it,like whatever. But it's actually maybe easier
to have someone you don't know readyour stuff. Oh yeah, yeah,
definitely, and it is. Yeah, I felt for him definitely in that
(40:13):
scene. And then the other thingthat came up in this movie is of
course Bretta and the whole you know, sending his manuscript in which number one,
how did she send it in?Whish we've covered And also, you
know, just for all of thoseout there who don't know how the publishing
industry works, there are two speeds. There is a fast speed and then
(40:34):
there's a super slow speed, andthere is no in between. In publishing,
there's no sort of middle ground. It either takes ten thousand years to
hear back from someone or it ispretty fast, but not as fast as
this movie. And that was actually, yeah, it was like two days
and they're like I think they wantedto talk about possibly publishing. Yeah,
(40:55):
yeah, which means they were atleast interested. Yeah not at Christmas time.
Again, for those who don't knowthe publishing industry, and I really
find this with almost everyone, theytend to take off from like the week
before Thanksgiving through the first week ofJanuary. It is very hard to get
any editor on the phone. Theyare all gone. And they also tend
(41:20):
to all think they live in Europeand they take them uth of August off
and you kind of can't get themin the summer either. So I was
like, maybe Greta knew someone andwent to their personal email like something.
I'm not really sure, but yeah, publishing does not happen that fast.
Does not really work that way.And I don't know what kind of publisher
(41:42):
because it was a made up publishinggroup. I believe, you know,
a lot of people would want youto have an agent first as well.
My big takeaway is I need tobe in the publishing industry. Yeah,
so you can like have all thistime. I need August off and November
through the beginning of the year.I can never be an editor, by
the way, because they have toread so much, so to agents,
(42:05):
and I am such a slow reader. I'm a fast reader, but I
don't think I could be an editorbecause my grammar is subpar. Oh yeah,
my n is too. That's whyI have editors. Where did those
stupid commas go? I can neverfigure it out. But yeah, definitely
those two things of like having someonereading your writing and getting someone else published
in two days? Interesting? Yeah, yeah, just make the movie better,
(42:34):
lovey. Last question, Yes,are Ben and Greta gonna make it?
Well? I thought that Greta andBen had great chemistry and I do.
I think they're going to stay together? Yeah, if I may.
What about Peter's the sort of Butlerand Maggie. Oh yeah, they're definitely
getting together. Oh you know what, that would be a great start to
(42:55):
Jared's movie. It could be theirwedding. Yeah yeah, I like that.
Yeah, Maggie and Peters. Ilike that. Yeah, maybe I'll
write that. Oh please do I'llread it. You can give it to
me, I'll read it. ISo here's the thing I would actually say,
(43:15):
I don't know if they're going tomake it, like I'd be on
the fence about it. Oh,and actually think their chemistry is as great
as you did. However, ifBen's willing to look past the fact that
she was basically there to get dirton him, like he's looked past a
lot, and if you're if you'rewilling to give it a go after all
(43:37):
of that, I feel like maybeyou are going to make it. So
I'm going to say yes the caveatthat. I have some questions in the
back of my mind because their entirerelationship is built on lies exactly exactly Peter's
and Maggie. Yes, obviously,And I love your idea. I want
a movie starting with their wedding andthen we go into Jared and who he's
(43:58):
with after the big Clarison Claire breakup. And I also want to know
what's going on with Claire these days. I do too, Yeah, like
who did she try to find afterthat? She really needs to go to?
Like DC? She does? Yeah, yeah, la California. I
mean, of course we don't knowwhere they actually live, but I guess
she was in New York. Butyeah, she needs to move to d
(44:19):
C. Yeah, we'll show youaround, Claire Sinclair. Yeah, come
hang out with us, be ascrazy as you want. We love that.
Well, I think we did itanother movie. Yes, we did
it, all right. We loveSnowbride. It's a great one. Yeah,
all right, Well I think that'sit. We would love it if
