Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. You know, there's
a topic we don't talk much about, but I think
(00:22):
we need to, and that is the topic of kids
bullying other kids at school. It can be subtle, or
it can be outright, it can be verbal, it can
be physical. But when somebody is unkind or hurtful to
another student, that leaves scars that can last forever. If
(00:42):
you've got kids that think that it's okay to be rude,
to be sassy, to be bossy, please talk to them,
Please help them to understand that it's not okay. It's
not ever, ever, ever, ever okay to be rude or
hurtful or unkind. It's so much better to be uplifting,
(01:08):
to say a positive word, to reach out in love.
I'm so thankful I'm not a teenager today. I don't
think I would make it through the public school system today,
or any school system today, not just public schools. I
know that private schools are just as bad. I'm so
proud of my kids who are teenagers today and who
(01:31):
are doing their very best to navigate in a world
that can be pretty cruel. In just a moment, I'm
going to talk with a young lady who is trying
so hard to keep her head up even though the
darts of gossip are flying behind her back. That story
coming up next. Hello, good evening, you've called de Lai
(01:55):
La who is on the phone.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Evelyn Smart?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Hi, Evelyn Smart? What can I do for you tonight?
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I just wanted to say thank you to my mom
and I was wondering if you could play a song
for her.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
All right?
Speaker 1 (02:07):
What's your mom's name and what are we thanking her
for besides everything?
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Her name is Heather, and I've just been going through
some tough times with like my friends and just at school.
I'm a freshman this year in high school and she
just helped me and she's always there to talk for
me to talk to her.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
So are your friends being kind of jerky? Are there
mean girls at your school?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah? We're kind of working it out, but they're just
I can tell they talk behind my back and stuff.
But my mom's always there to comfort me.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
My daughter. I have a daughter who's your age, who's
a freshman this year, and she used to have a
group of friends, and last year they turned really ugly.
They just got mean and said rude things, yeah, and
hurtful things. And I kept saying, just hang in there,
just hang in there, Just hang in there, and you'll
find new friends in high school because the high school's big.
(03:00):
And she's already made two good friends who are so sweet,
and I thank God that she's not being bullied like
she was last year. Yeah, have you made some new friends?
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah? I played volleyball and so I've kind of got
closer with some of my teammates.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
So stay away from the mean girls. Don't try to
fix it, don't try to work through it if they're
being rude or mean or bullying. Just walk away with
your head held high. Yeah, and nobody got time for
that nonsense. No. I don't think a lot of people
realize how tough it is to be a teenager today.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
I don't either. I think it's a lot harder than.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
People think it is. It is a whole lot harder
than it was even twenty years ago. Mm hm. I
am proud of you, and I'm really glad you got
a mama that listens and honors you and cheers you on,
And is there for you. Give her a big hug
from me. Okay, okay, going to play a sweet song
for you and everybody who's ever been bullied.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Thank you?
Speaker 1 (04:04):
All right? God bless you. Honey. Hi, you've called the
Delilah Sholl Who is this is Stasha? Hi? Stasia? What
can I do for you tonight?
Speaker 4 (04:24):
I was wondering if I could request the song?
Speaker 1 (04:27):
So you got to tell me who's on your heart?
Speaker 4 (04:30):
My boyfriend Dayton?
Speaker 1 (04:32):
And what do you want to tell the world about Dayton?
Speaker 4 (04:35):
We have been together promos a year and he has
helped me through some of the hardest times in my
life and I can't thank him enough.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Okay, without violating your heart or bringing up pain. What's
one of the toughest things you've had to go through
this year?
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Bullying at school? Mainly he has showed me self calmed,
fence in myself and not to care what other people
have to say about Stasha.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
How old are you? I'm seventeen and the bullying continues.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
Yes, it has been here since I was in fourth grade.
And he has shown me the good things in life.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
So what are people doing to try to steal your joy?
Speaker 4 (05:23):
It's rumors that start about me at pool, like name
calling and thoughts that I have apparently done in my
life that people like to make up. And he just
showed me like don't care what they have to say,
Like you know the truth and that's all that matters.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Well, I'm glad you have somebody in your corner who
believes in you. But Stasia, even if Dayton wasn't in
your life, you need to know that you are wonderful.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Everybody that exists is an on purpose and you are
wonderful just the way you are. Okay, So when those
people start saying cruel things because you don't look this way,
you don't look that way, or you don't dress this way,
or you did this or you didn't do this or
blah blah blah blah blah, walk away with your head
(06:14):
held high. Don't engage in conversation with them because they're
they're just they're broken inside and they're hurting, so they're
trying to bring you down so they'll feel superior. So
just walk away and know that you are perfect just
the way God made you. Thank you, And I'm glad
you got Dayton in your life. So let me play
a sweet song for you too.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
All right, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Hi, Welcome to the Delilah Show. Who is this Katie?
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Hi?
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Katie?
Speaker 4 (06:49):
How are you good?
Speaker 3 (06:53):
I was wondering if maybe you could tell your fans
that I've been bullied since little kid, and I know
there's still hope.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
You know what I think. I think we're spending far
too much time talking about the bullies and not nearly
as much time as we should be talking about love. Yeah.
When you talk about love and when you put love
out into the universe, and when you share your heart
with others and when you reach out in compassion, that
(07:24):
is the solution to the haters. Yeah. The bullying is
just a symptom of the real problem, and the real
problem is they do not have love in their heart.
And reaching out in love instead of continuing the cycle
of bullying, I think that's the solution.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
There's a kid in fifth grade and she'd gotten sent
to the office so many times because of the fact
that he's taken on kids. In one day, my friends
and I went up to him and we told him,
you know what, we're here for you. We want to
be your friends, and we can't do that if you're
not going to accept us in se quit picking on people.
(08:10):
He didn't go to the office again. He just needed
somebody to listen to him.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
That's usually the case when somebody is being unkind and
hurtful and hateful, it's because their hearts are so broken
and they're so filled with hatred they're spilling it out
on everyone else.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Yeah. I just want people to know that in the end,
something that is going to come out of it. Either
you're going to be stronger or there's going to be
something that you can work on with it, because I mean,
that's what's happened for me.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Well, you stay strong and keep sharing the love, and
I will play a song for you. I so hope
you have enjoyed these radio moments as much as I
enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share more with you
each weekday on Hey It's Delilah. Did you buy
