Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. And I met
a couple this past week and I went to a
screening and I met a couple and one of the

(00:25):
one of the halves of the couple said, my wife
has been listening to you since she was like four
or five years I don't know how old a kid,
and she is so smitten she can barely talk. You
got to come and say hi, and we took pictures
and said hi. And it was so fun to meet
somebody who grew up listening to me in the back

(00:47):
seat of her mama's car, and now her kids are
listening to me in the back seat of the car
while they're driving around running errand's, going to events. And
I just touched my heart, touched my heart to know
that I get to be a part of your life
and get to talk to your kids and tuck them
into bed at night. So if you have just joined

(01:08):
us and you've missed out on all this goodness, it's
not too late. Hopefully, prayerfully I will be around for
a long long time.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Hi Deliah, this is Lewis calling from Grand Arpats, Michigan. Hi, Louis,
I just want to tell you. I'm forty three years old, Julilah.
I've been listening to you since I've been a little boy,
and I finally got My heart is beating, like I'm
so scared right now. I finally got through to you.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
So you've been listening to me all these years, and
tonight was the night that God said, Louis, Tonight's night
You're going to get to talk to her. Who is
on your heart? There's got to be somebody really special.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
I would have to say my mom. My mom is
not only my mom, she's my best friend as well.
I cherish every moment with her.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
What's mama's name.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
My mom's name is Mary Jel.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
So when you were younger, like say fifteen, sixteen seventeen,
would you have said your mom was your best friend
back then? Or weld you perhaps a teeny tiny bit
hard headed?

Speaker 2 (02:26):
You know, I wasn't a hard had. I'm the youngest
of five, so I was more spoiled. So I was
more always the MoMA's boy, you know, So I was
still s I was a little stubborn back then, but
I always had the attitude that she was not only
my mother, and she was my best friend as well,

(02:46):
and I had to cherish her every moment I got
with her, you know. And she'll be sixty nine this year.
So and one more thing, Delilah. I know you're on
a time schedule here, but I got.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
All the time of the world.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Han.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
My whole job is talking to you, and you don't
have to rush. I'm not on a time schedule. I
am in no hurry. I'm sitting in my studio sketching
sunflowers as I talk to you, So you take all
the time you want. We don't have to.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Hurry, Okay, but yeah, I just I'm like mind bottled here.
But anyways, I can remember as a young man, I'm
my mom getting into my mom's car and you'd always say, okay, Lewis,
it's Delilah's time, and she would turn the station on.
And I'm telling you, I'm forty three this year, and
I've been listening to you since then, and you have

(03:39):
done so much just for me personally, and I know
people call in and say how much of an inspiration
you are to them, and I just thank you so much. Delilah.
For being there for me, you know, and just my
dark times and my sad times, and you just have
been like a light at the end of the tunnel.
And it's like finally, I all these years I've tried

(04:00):
to get through to you, and I tried and I tried,
and it never worked, and then tonight I'm like talking
to you and it's just like a dream come true.
I don't know, I'm just I'm lost for words, I guess,
but I'm just very thankful.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
I'm very flattered, and I'm not trying to pat myself
on the back. But is there a time that you
can remember when you were going through something? And I'm
only asking because we're all going through stuff. We're all
going through stuff, Robin Robert says, everybody has something. We're
all going through something. Is there a time when you

(04:32):
were going through something and you heard something on the
show that was like an arrow straight into your heart?
It just spoke to your.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Soul, you know. Well, there are several times I can
remember you telling people about the serenity prayer. I can
remember those days and just something, Delilah, you are a
gift from God, and I know people tell you this
all the time. But like your voice is so calming,
like literally like I do. I'm just getting off work now,

(05:04):
but you do not believe. Like Monday through Friday and
I see it's getting around ten o'clock and I'm like, great,
the line that's coming on. And I drive for a living,
so it's like you really just ease my day. Like
the minute you come on, everything is just like a Okay.
I don't know what it is about you, but you know,

(05:26):
just bless your heart, and I just I'm just thankful
for you and for what you have done for the world,
you know. And I've heard many stories throughout the years,
and I'm just glass for words right now. I mean,
I just I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
I'm just you're making me smile from ear to ear.
So you're doing fine, right.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
I listened to Mac and Schmidt and the morning I'm
hearing granappit's Michigan. And I always call them every now
and then till we cress the song. And they're great
people too, and I always tell them my dilemma about
and by the way, I love your dilemmas that you
do too as well. And I call them and I'm like,
you know, I try to Delilah, but I just can't

(06:18):
get through, and they're like, you just got to keep trying,
You got to keep trying. And they were telling me
about how many stations that you do, and then like,
I've heard you down like in Florida, I've heard you
down in Georgia. So I've heard you in different places,
and I just get so excited when I hear you,
and I just want to thank you, Delilah so much

(06:38):
for everything you do and just keep shining that light.
I don't know if it's your voice, your personality. I
think it may be like a combination, you know, But.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Do you want to know what it is. I'll tell
you exactly what it is. It's the fact that every
night I pray, Lord, if there's somebody who needs to
hear something, borrow my voice, because Louis, I'll be honest
with you. Sometimes I'll open my mouth and I'll, you know,
think about talking about I don't know, the kids at school,
or something that happened during my day, and instead my

(07:12):
mouth will open up and something that will come out
that I hadn't even planned on saying. You know, I'll
start talking about the serenity prayer, talking about you, know
how taking that first step when you are struggling with something,
that first step of saying I'm powerless. I can't fix this,
I don't have the tools in my tool belt to

(07:33):
control this. I need help and crying out to a
higher power to give you that help. And I'll think,
where did that come from? I was going to talk
about my baby goat in the barn, and all of
a sudden, I'm talking about the serenity prayer, and one
hundred percent of the time when that happens, I know

(07:56):
that is my higher power just taking the wheel and saying,
I'm just gonna borrow your voice here for a minute, Delilah,
because somebody is hurting and needs to hear.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
This, right right, absolutely, Wow, Delilah. I finally got through
after all these years. And I would often tell myself,
I'm one day I'm going to talk to her. One day,
I'm going to talk to her. And tonight was the night.
This is gonna go down in my memory, like like
literally in my memory. I'm serious. I'm just so excited

(08:26):
that I got through to you. And I'm a little
calmer now that we've spent a minute or two on
the phone, so I'm not really like racing now, you know.
But Delilah again a pleasure, and you have a wonderful week,
and just thank you for all you do. And God
bless you. Okay, God bless you. Bye bye, honey, Okay,
bye bye now.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey It's Delilah by
