Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
My favorite radio moments here to share with you on
our daily podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Hey it's Delilah.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Today we're going to mash up a bunch of great callers,
some from the past, some new, some old, all.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Of them fabulous.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Hi.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Welcome to the Delilah Show. Who is this?

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Hi? My name is Jan, Hi Jan.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
What can I do for you tonight?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I had I wanted to tell a story about my life.
I was born totally blind and went to school and
always was determined to do anything that anyone said I
couldn't do. I tried harder to do to prove. I
was raised in a home with all sider brothers and sisters,
so anything they did I wanted to do too. I

(00:56):
was over jumping fences and skating and et cetera. Anyway,
I grew up, and I went to a regular high
school and from college, and then I got married and
I have twelve children.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
So you are completely blind, yes, I am.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
You are either a saint and an amazing woman, or
you are a completely nut so but so girlfriend.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Probably a little bit of both. But I love babies.
I love children, it's a challenge. I have a great
support system. I have a wonderful family. I have twenty
one grandchildren. I have four great grandchildren, and so my
kids have They call each other cousins, but you know,
their uncle and their uncles to many, many, many other
other children. So family reunions for us are incredible. I

(01:42):
bet so I would like to I'd like to adopt
one more and then I'm done. You know, maybe a
little girl that needs a home. I don't know, and
if if God's willing, if it doesn't happen, I'm perfectly
content with what I have. We have a lot of love.
We have a good, good size house. My husband's retired
from military, so I'm the military. So we we you know,

(02:02):
we're comfortable. We're not wealthy, but we you know, the
big most important thing I have learned through all my
years of rearing children is just love them. Give them
all the love you can, and that's the most important thing.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Well, you give your baby's kisses and God bless you.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Thank you very much with you.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Thanks for sharing your story, Danis.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I was glad I could.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Hi, Maria, Welcome to the Delilah Show. Hi, So who
are you thinking of tonight. Who did you call me
to brag on?

Speaker 4 (02:34):
I called you to brag on my mom and my boyfriend.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Okay, what's mama's name?

Speaker 4 (02:39):
My mom's name is Lynn, and your honey Mike?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
And do Mike and Mom get along? Well?

Speaker 4 (02:45):
They try, there's effort.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Wow, that was a blatantly honest response.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Yeah, well, I don't like to lie.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
So how old is your boyfriend? How old are you?

Speaker 4 (02:57):
I'm nineteen and your boyfriend he's twenty?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
And why doesn't Mom? Why isn't she thrilled about Mike?
Is it just that nobody's good enough for her little girl?
Or she really doesn't like the guy.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
I think it's a little bit of both, honestly, probably
more on the side no one's good enough for a
little girl.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Okay, what's the dumbest thing Mike has done so far
to hurt his case in Mom's eyes?

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Make jokes to her that isn't funny, but they're not
funny to her, and he just doesn't understand that she
doesn't find them funny, so he doesn't apologize for offunding her.
I guess that would be the worst thing.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Is he that jerky when she's not around? I mean,
do his jokes just fall flat all the time. Does
somebody need to clue him in that he's just not funny?

Speaker 4 (03:39):
No? I think she turns a closed ear.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
So is she being sadly sensitive or is he being
just a jerk?

Speaker 4 (03:45):
It might be a little bit of both. Again.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Oh, ever the diplomat, aren't you?

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Well okay, but you love your mom and you love
Mike and you want a song for them both?

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yeah, and here I am joking around about this.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
No, no, Well, the.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Good news is a lot of moms are that way.
A lot of moms don't think anyone's quite good enough.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Well, it's been nine months, so I think she's had
a little bit of time to get to know over. Yeah,
to the good side.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
But then he does those jerky jokes and it just
shoots everything to piece over again. How about I do
my best to find a song that will bless both
of them?

Speaker 4 (04:23):
That would be great.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Hello?

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Who is this?

Speaker 5 (04:37):
This is George? How are you, Delilah?

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Good evening, George. I'm wonderful. How are you.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
I'm doing great. I got to tell you a little story. Please.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
That's why I'm here, That's why this show is here.
We love your stories.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
Okay, twenty five years ago, I dated a girl being Debbie,
and over the years we've been through a sick and sin, marriages.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Divorces, but not to each other.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
No, not to each other.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Okay, so you dated twenty five years ago than who?

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Eight months?

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Who gave who the boot?

Speaker 5 (05:11):
Actually it was mutual. We fell out of love.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
We fell out of love.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
Yeah, we were young, young, in naive. Anyway, she has
two children that call me Uncle George. And now that
we're both single again, we're you know, we're trying to
think of of what the best describes our lives now.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
You know, are you still out of love or are
you falling back in love?

Speaker 5 (05:34):
Well, we're trying to slowly, but it's kind of like
different love, you know, it's like being against all odds,
you know, like that song from Phil Collins. And I
want to express my love for her, but I know
we're both scared to take that extra.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Step, you know, But are you in love with her?

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Oh? I'm definitely in love, But I just get you
know that the special friendship bond is more than going
beyond you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I do know. I'm just you said you fell out
of love? And I don't hear that you ever fell
out of love. It sounds to me like you've loved
her all along.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Well, now that we're older, has two years progressed, we
know we can love each other.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Well. Let me find a song for you.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
And I hope that whatever it is you guys have,
you're able to define it and grow in love for
years to come.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
And the while I listen to you every night and
I finally got through her to talk to you and
tell you how I really feel.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Let me find that song for you.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Thank you?

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Hi, Don? What can I do for you?

Speaker 5 (06:40):
I'm going through some really hard time.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
Sorry, now, don take a deep breath here, honey, I'll
just put.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
It maybe up for adoptions.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Five weeks ago?

Speaker 1 (06:48):
How old was your baby?

Speaker 4 (06:51):
She was just born?

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Newborn?

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Born?

Speaker 6 (06:55):
Are you getting counseling to help you through the grief
process now?

Speaker 1 (06:59):
I've been trying to do with it all mon. Wait wait, wait,
wait wait.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
If you just got hit by a mac truck, run
over and broke both your legs, would you try to
deal with it on your own or would you go
get some medical help?

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Probably help?

Speaker 6 (07:12):
Okay, what you just did the ultimate sacrifice of love
of going nine months through a pregnancy, carrying a baby,
loving that baby enough to allow that baby to be
placed in another family that can raise It is the hardest,
most painful thing you will ever do in your life.

(07:33):
Don't you think it's kind of important to talk to
somebody and work through that?

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Yeah, it's I'll tell you.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
I know. I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
I've never been in your position, but I've been very
active in the adoption field for years, right, so I
know a lot of birth moms, I know a lot
of adoptive moms and dads, and I know that that
is the ultimate. There is no greater sacrifice that someone
can make to love somebody than to recognize that you

(08:07):
can't provide for a baby, but somebody else can.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
I'm usually a pretty strong person, didn't realize how hard
it would actually be.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
Well, I don't think anyone can prepare themselves for that
kind First off, just going through the pregnancy and labor
and delivery, you're going to have mood swings. But then
to do that and to go through the grief of
placing that baby with another family is.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Overwhelming and very overwhelming. So cut yourself some slack.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Okay, thank you?

Speaker 2 (08:38):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
