Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast, Hey It's Delilah.
Every night I talk to people from all walks of
(00:22):
life in all sorts of different situations, and today we
are going to mash some of those phone calls up
and serve them back to you on Hey It's Delilah. Hi,
good evening. You've called the Delilah Show. Who is this?
Speaker 2 (00:39):
This is Sarah calling?
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Hi Sarah? What can I do for you this evening?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I had a special birthday on Tuesday and tried to
get through, but luckily we got through today. And we
have a couple milestones this year.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
It was your birthday or someone you love.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
My eightieth and our anniversary. This year was fifty eight
years when you mentioned a couple of days ago, somebody
you know with fifty.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Fifty eight years this year?
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Wow, what is that like to wake up and know
somebody on a cellular level you've been together, loving one
another so long. I mean, you've got to have his
DNA imprinted in yours in your soul.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Or he's got mine. One of the two.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Who's the more stubborn of the two, Sarah.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
We both have stubbornness.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
At least you're honest about it.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Here's he's never forgotten a birthday card, an anniversary card,
of Valentine's stay card, and Annie holiday card.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
So he's thoughtful. He's stubborn, a little stubborn, but very thoughtful.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
And he gives me my coffee, an espresso coffee in
the morning, not that it's specially made every day, but
every morning coffee with a little kiss.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
He's thoughtful and kind and has a servant. I'm liking
this man more every minute. How's he on the dance floor?
Speaker 2 (02:05):
He used to teach dancing one time, so he can
do the chatcha and the whatever. But now that we're older,
the knees don't work so fast.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
The knees don't work so fast. But the heart, it
sounds like his heart is going strong. Yes, I love
this story. So two more years, you're gonna have to
have a big bash for your anniversary.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
You know that, hopefully with all the kids and grandkids,
would be nice.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
How many kids, how many grandkids? How many great grandkids?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Two children and four grandchildren, but no great grandchildren and
no grandchildren.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Married yet what a sweet story, Sarah. I'm going to
find the sweetest love song for you too. And when
he brings you your coffee tomorrow morning, give him a
kiss from you, and then give him another one and
say that's from Delilah because she loves your very thoughtful heart.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Okay, appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Hi, good evening. You've called the Delilah Show. Who is
with me on the phone line?
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Hi, this is Valerie. I'm calling from my work. I
just wanted to let you know that we play your
We play your radio station every single night here, and
we love it so much.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Where do you work, Valerie? Who can I give a
shout out to you?
Speaker 3 (03:28):
I work at Charlie's ice Cream.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Charlie's ice Cream? Do you sell black liquors ice cream?
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Ah? No, I don't believe we do.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Ah, that's my favorite. Nobody else likes it in my
family but me. You want to know something funny, My
son and his wife own a little ice cream parlor.
Really yep, it's an ice cream parlor candy shop called
Sweet Necessities.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Oh that's cool.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
And they bought it so that all their kids could
have summer jobs.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Oh that's so cool.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
If I worked there, I would be fat because I
would eat ice cream all day, every day, mostly the
black licorice. What's your favorite flavor?
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Uh? My favorite flavor is probably cookies and cream.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Do you guys have like caramel or caramel ice cream
cone or salted caramel?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yeah, we have like a salted caramel pretzel and it's
really good.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
All right, I'll take a scoop of that and I
will play a song for you.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Thank you so much, Slilah.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Thank you have a great rest of your summer.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Thank you you too.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Hi, good evening, Welcome to the Delilah Show. Who is this?
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Hi? This is Katie.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Hi Katie? Are you you having a good summer? You
sound like it?
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Yes, ma'am. I absolutely am absolutely a dream.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Your summer is a dream? Or getting through on the
radio show is a dream?
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Getting through on the radio.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
This is supposed to My mother used to listen to
you as a little girl, and I grew up listening
to you.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
It's so amazing.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Well, welcome aboard. What can I do for you tonight?
Speaker 4 (05:22):
I am so happy to see you with my family
and my husband, and I'm just so thankful for them,
and I know you are the woman of love.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
So this is a great, big gratitude dedication.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
I saw a study the other day that I think
it was New England Journal of Medicine or of Health.
One of those talked about people who adapt an attitude
of gratitude every day live on the average seven to
ten years longer than their grumpy counterparts. Oh my goodness,
let me play a song for you, Katie and your
(06:00):
beautiful family. Go love on him and I will find
that song tonight. Thank you for calling, Thank you, good night,
good evening. You've called Delilah? Who is with me on
the phone line.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
My name is Leo.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Hi Leo? Are you a lion?
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Yes? I am.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
What can I do for you tonight?
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (06:28):
I wanted to make a request for a song for
my deceased spouse. He passed away. This passed December twenty second,
and I always wonder to know if you can find
a song for me because I'm still in a grieving process,
you know, since since her dad.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
So you are recently widowed as I am, man, and
do you have people that love you around you, that
are supporting you, that are understanding, that are giving you
a place to bring some of that pain and talk
about it.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
I have my son, you know, he lives real close
to me, and he knows, you know, what happened, and
he's very understanding and very sympathetic with me. And then
I have a sister too that lives right nearby as well,
who understands. So I'm glad to have them two around.
Just finding it hard at times to kind of grasp
(07:24):
the reality of it.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Was she sick or was it a surprise?
Speaker 5 (07:30):
It was actually a surprise.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
So you didn't have time to prepare. You didn't have
time to prepare your heart nothing. No, I did not
How long had you been together?
Speaker 5 (07:39):
We were together for eight years.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
I am so sorry. I wish I could reach through
the year waves and give you a big hug, but
I will play a song and say a prayer that
God will comfort your heart.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Thank you very much. I listened to you just as
much as I can, and I'm just glad to finally
get a hold of you.
Speaker 1 (07:58):

enjoyed these radio moments as much as I enjoy bringing
them to you. I'll share more with you each weekday
on Hey It's Delilah.
