Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Hey It's Delilah.
You know why I love doing these podcasts because we

(00:23):
can mash up some of the best calls that I've
taken recently and share them back with you. So come
on in and enjoy today's edition of Hey It's Delilah. Hello,
good evening, Welcome to the Delilah Show. Who is this?

Speaker 2 (00:43):
This is Sarah calling?

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Hi Sarah. What can I do for you tonight?

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I was just calling to Sarah little bit of my
story because right now I miss my boyfriend a lot,
a ton His name is John.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
And why do you miss John so much?

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I miss him because right now he's in Ireland. Actually
he's from Ireland, so we're a whole ocean away and
I hardly ever get to see him, like every couple months.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Well, how did you meet him if he's from Ireland?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
I know this is a crazy part. We're both cheaping
in Thailand like two years ago, and we were at
the same school cheaping and that's where I met him.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
You were teaching what in Thailand?

Speaker 2 (01:21):
I was actually student teaching grade six and he was
teaching high school maths and an international school. So and
we lived across the street from each other, and then
we met and he took me on his motorbike everywhere
and we fell in love. So, so you had.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
To go to Thailand to meet the love of your
life from Ireland?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
I did.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
And how are you going to reconcile this? How are
you going to bring your lives together?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Oh? It will hopefully happen soon. It's a little confusing
right now, but we both know we want to get married,
so that's not now.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Are you going to get married and move to Ireland?
Are you going to get married and he's going to
move here? Are you guys going to find another country
that you both mutually can agree on?

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Well, we both want to teach overseas, so that's our plan.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
What's his name?

Speaker 3 (02:06):
John?

Speaker 1 (02:06):
And does John have that famous Irish temper?

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Actually he's very mellow, surprisingly, but I had seen his
temper a few times, but not directly.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Truth me, was it as bad as my Irish background's temper?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
No. Good good because because those in my family that
are Irish, not me, of course, but my ancestors and
my siblings can hold a grudge for ever.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
No, he's not that way good.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
It's it's not a good it's not an attractive quality. No,
and I'm so glad that it completely skipped over me.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Oh of course, of course Irish background too, so I
know some other stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
You have a good night, sweetie, Thanks for calling, Thank you,
bye bye. Hi is this gem?

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
It is. I understand you're a single dad with teenage girls.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yes, I have four children, two boys twenty six and
twenty and two daughters seventeen and fifteen. But my two daughters,
those are the ones that.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Have given dad gray hair.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Oh yes, you know, Delilah, I can do many things
with my life, but.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
But you can't figure out teenage girls exactly.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Been there, done that, that's what I hear.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Yeah, so seventeen and fifteen.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yes, it's if you could apply logic to teenagers. But
that doesn't seem to work now.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
There is no logic, especially to apply to fifteen year
old girls.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
It's so difficult to discipline. But you have to discipline
or you know, you want to give them everything. You
want to protect them, you want to, you know, make
their life as easy as possible and get them over
the bumps that you had in the road. But you
just can't do it because they appreciated because they've never
experienced how bad things can get many.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Times a day. To you here, that's not fair.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
At least a couple doesn't.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, and why not everyone else gets too?

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Oh yeah, exactly, you know, And Terry explained them their
responsibilities in life. You have to work and gain knowledge,
get a syllable commodity, and then you're going to be
productive in life. You can't sit down and talk on
the phone. You have to know how to get your
check books. You have to have chores. You have to
have responsibilities, and if you don't do responsibilities, there's consequences

(04:29):
and they hate you.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
For those old fashioned things.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I know, but still it's hard.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
But you know what, if you took the easy way out,
your kids would end up losers. You can't do that.
You got to do the hard work. You can't take
the easy way out, and someday, hopefully they will learn
these lessons and be productive citizens.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
I do pray that first so many times.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Let me find a song for your family, especially your girls,
and for all the single moms and dads out there
who hears that's not fair every day.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Oh, thank you very much, Telila.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
All right, bye bye, sweetie.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Bye bye.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Hi, good evening. Who is this? This is Linda, Linda welcome.
What can I do for you?

Speaker 5 (05:22):
Well? I would I'd like you to play a song
for somebody that was very special in my life many
years ago. Today is his forty fifth birthday and I
haven't seen him for over twenty years, so I was
just wanted to wish him a happy birthday if he's
out there and just wondering what he's up to at

(05:42):
this time in his life.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
This has been so long, So Linda, you still carry
a torch for someone you haven't seen in twenty years?

Speaker 5 (05:50):
Well, just because he was such an inspiration to me.
We dated for three years way back when I was
in high school and just got out of high school,
and it was just a wonderful three years. I know
I wouldn't be as happy as I am right now
as things had gone differently and we had ended up
together indefinitely, but he definitely was an inspiration to me

(06:17):
back then. I've been happily married for seventeen years and
have three beautiful children to somebody that he even knows,
and so I'm sure that he would be very happy
for me knowing that.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
So this isn't I love you, I miss you. I
can't stop thinking about you. This is a thank you
for impacting my life in such a positive way, and
you have helped me to become the wonderful person that
I am kind of called absolutely awesome. And what's his name, Linda?

Speaker 5 (06:47):
His well, we all knew him as Butch, but his
proper name is Harold.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Oh, let's go with Butch. Okay, Harold just sounds so bookish,
doesn't it. I will play a song for you. You have
a great night.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
Okay, Thanks bye bye, Jim High, thank you for calling
the Delilah Show.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Who are you thinking of tonight? Oh?

Speaker 4 (07:15):
My wife's Debbie. She's just one of the most amazing
people that I have ever met. And when she's thirty
five that she has a rare form, a muscular dystrophree.
She's probably lost about sixty percent of her muscular strength.
She's now forty nine years old, but she doesn't let
her get her down. She does a ton of volunteer work.

(07:38):
You know, it's just amazing because she's busy from the
time she gets up to the time she goes to bed.
She makes quilts for some women's homeless shelters. She sends
out cards to everybody. Every month, she sends out probably
about fifty cards to everybody's that's sick and that she knows,
just to let them know that, you know, somebody's thinking

(08:00):
of them. And she never complains, you know, she never
asks for anything. And it's just amazing that people like that.
And I know there's a lot of people up there
who you know, are physically challenged to do stuff day
in and day out. You know, never complain and never
ask for anything. And I respect her and I looked
up to her. You know, she really is. She's my

(08:22):
inspiration and she keeps me going.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
So instead of feeling sorry for herself and sitting around
and letting her body atrophy, she's she doesn't let it
slower down at all.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
It doesn't sound like we really rely on each other
a tremendous a lot. You know, it's a love that
I can't tell you how deep it goes, because it's
just bottomless and endless. You know, I really think I
got lucky, and I know a lot of people do.
But you know, I know I made the right choice.
And we've been married, we're going on our thirty first year,

(08:51):
and we got married young, and I don't regret a
minute of it.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey, It's Delilah
