Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. If you are
blessed in life to have a friend, a true friend,
(00:22):
maybe you've got two or three really good friends. Your
friends are more important than you think. There was just
a study done. It was released in a medical journal,
and they found the one thing that people who live
long had in common. You would think it would be
don't smoke, or don't eat gluten or exercise every day. No,
(00:45):
the one factor that predicts whether you will have a long, good,
healthy life is if you have close friends that you
talk to. Cherish your true friends as if they because
they're more precious than gold, more precious than silver, more
precious than gold. Reach out to them, let them know
(01:08):
how much you love them. Tell them say I love you,
I cherish you, I appreciate you. Cherish those friendships. Hi,
Holly K. Welcome to the Delilah Show. Hi, how are
you tonight?
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Fine?
Speaker 1 (01:24):
You want to play a song for some sister friends.
I understand.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
I have a group of co workers that I've worked
with in the last year, and I have spent the
last eighteen years working with children, and I was a
center director for a large corporation and I just recently
asked for personal reasons. But doesn't make it any easier
to leave. But these group of directors that I worked
(01:49):
with and then as well as my boss, became very
close to me this last year, and they have been
so supportive, so wonderful. We call each other's sisters, and
you know, I miss them like crazy, and they think
of them every day, and I just really want to
dedicate a song to them, just to let them know
how much I enjoyed working with all of them and
how much they meant to me. And as I go
(02:11):
about my life and move forward to different things, I'll
always remember, you know, the difference they made in my life.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Doesn't that just feel like your heart and your guts
are being ripped out when you have to physically move
on or you have to move to a different area
and you leave friendships.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, And I had some closure with some of the
departure and some I did not, And that's the most
civilical part about it. And I've worked with children for
so long and children are my passion and working with
families is a passion. I've had all my life. It's
something that I'll always have a special bond to Until
you've done it all these years. This is hard to
(02:48):
describe what it's like to be working with children and
families every day.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Well, I will play a song Holly k for you
and for the wonderful friends you've made along the journey.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Thank you you.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Have recently Hello, you've called the Delilah Show. Who is this? Hey?
Speaker 4 (03:11):
This is Josh, Hi Josh.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
What can I do for you tonight?
Speaker 3 (03:15):
I just wanted to say that I've been reconnecting with
a lot of old friends here recently, and it's been
really nice to see old friends and then have my
current friends know.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
That I care a lot about them, and I really
really am glad that I have people that I can
look to and say with full confidence.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
That I love completely.
Speaker 5 (03:44):
How old are you? I'm twenty one man, So you've
still got friends from high school from your childhood, but
you're maturing into new relationships and the two worlds are
merging or colliding.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
I would say merging.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Because when I went through that phase, I remember it
was so weird to introduce, you know, the new friends
that I made when I was in college or working
with old friends from childhood, and then somehow it just
jelled and came together in this most wonderful hodgepodge of
(04:24):
unique characters. I am so fortunate to have the most
wonderfully unique and creative and off the beaten path friends
old and new, and for the most part, they all
get along, which is amazing.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yeah, I'm really blissed, and I'm growing like a like
a whole army of beloved people.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
It's just it's really nice.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
I will play a wonderful song for you. Thank you
for calling, and thank you for sharing your friends with us.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Yes, thank you for answering.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
All right, you have a great night. Everybody getting ready
for back to school, buying the perfect book bag, buying
the new clothes, getting the new shoes. I got this
(05:19):
letter from a listener who wanted to share a great story,
and I thought it was such a wonderful idea. So
all seniors, all of those of you who are going
to be seniors this coming year, listen up. This listener says,
at the beginning of our senior year together, my best
friend and I sat down and created a list of
things we swore we would do together before we parted
for college next fall. Now it's only a couple of
(05:42):
weeks before I move away from her and she moves
away from our hometown, and just a few things remain
on our to do list. One of them was we
promised to have a song played for the two of us,
so we might add one more memory to our long
list of recollections. We're hoping you might be able to
say satisfy our request. Kristin and I became inseparable this
(06:03):
summer following our sophomore year, the year I moved to
this area. Although our personalities are completely different, we share
an unshakable dedication to country music, an appreciation for each other,
and a terrific friendship. I'm terrified of the thought of
being without her in college, but I know her friendship
has been one of the greatest and most precious gifts.
(06:24):
That we've helped each other to grow up and become
a little more of what we want to be when
we finally grow up. I'm so thankful for the time
we've had together, and I hope that while we will
no longer be in the same city or even the
same state, we will still be able to take part
in each other's lives. Play the perfect song for the
two of us. We're so very lucky to have shared
(06:45):
this time together. Thanks so much from Anna and Kristen.
Anna and Kristin, thank you for listening. Thank you for
giving us just a great idea. I'm going to pass
that on to other seniors. God bless you, and please keep.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
In touch with each other.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Sarah, what can I do for you on this summer night?
Speaker 6 (07:10):
I just like to play a song for my three
best friends. Well, we're all in high school right now,
and we're all going through a lot of changes and
becoming different people as we grow up, and I just
want to let them know that even though we're all
changing and becoming different people, that always love them and
I always want to stay best friends.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Now, what do you mean, give me an example, how
are you becoming a different person?
Speaker 6 (07:34):
Well, I mean we're all we're all focusing on different
things in our life now. Our goals are different, the
things that we want out of life are different. And
even though we may have different views, sometimes I think
it's important that we understand that about each other and
we respect each other for it.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
And is that something that's been hard to get to?
That point of respect and acceptance yeah, you know.
Speaker 6 (07:58):
I mean, we've gone through a couple of our argument,
but I think it's a maturity thing and we're all
definitely getting to the point where we can accept each
other for our differences.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Well, you want to know something, honey. If you can't,
then you're not really friends. Because true friends, people that
truly love each other, accept each other unconditionally. It doesn't
matter what choices you make, it doesn't matter what direction
you go, it doesn't matter your belief systems or your
value systems. When you truly love somebody, truly love them,
(08:29):
you love them just the way they are, and you
love them unconditionally. Now that doesn't always mean you can
stay in a relationship with them, because sometimes somebody you
love decides, you know that smoking crack is a really
good idea, and you have to say, you know what,
I love you unconditionally and I will be here for you,
but I'm not going to go hang out in the
parking lot with you while you do that. So sometimes
(08:49):
you got to make tough choices. But if you love somebody,
you love them no matter what. What are your girlfriend's.
Speaker 6 (08:55):
Names, Amanda, Courtney and Helen, And I hope.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
That in twenty years, call me back, and you play
a song for them again. I so hope you have
enjoyed these radio moments as much as I enjoy bringing
them to you. I'll share more with you each weekday
on Hey It's Delilah Do
