Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Each of us
can look back on yesteryear, look back on the years

(00:23):
gone by, maybe on our childhood or our teenage years,
and identify someone who made a huge impact in our life.
Someone whose wisdom, someone who's caring attitude, someone whose kindness
towards us made an impression upon us. In reality, those

(00:48):
people may have changed the very trajectory of our lives.
And it's probable that that person didn't do it to
be recognized. They didn't do it to get a pat
on the back, They didn't do it for any accolades.
They didn't do it for any reason other than the
joy that it brought them to love you, to help you,

(01:12):
to nurture you, to mentor you, to direct you on
a good path. Who changed your life by their kindness.
Think about writing them a letter, writing them a note,
put it in the mail, put an old fashioned stamp
on it, send it to that person, and say thank you,

(01:35):
thank you for being there when I didn't even know
I needed you. Hi, Kim, Welcome to the Delilah Show.
What can I do for you?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I was hoping that you could play a song for
me for three people.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Three people in your family.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Three people who three people in my family?

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Okay, who are these people?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
My mom, my dad, and my son?

Speaker 3 (01:57):
And what do you want to tell them?

Speaker 2 (01:59):
My mom and my dad took care of my son seventh.
They've been taking care of him for basically seven years.
When I had him, he was very sick and it
was really hard for me to deal with that. So
they stepped in and they took over. Yet we all
still lived together, so.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
You weren't quite at a point in your life where
you could commit to all the special needs your son had. Right,
But grandma and grandpa said, daughter, we love you, we
love our grand baby.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
We're here for both of you.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Right.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
You know, up until two generations ago, that's the way
the world was.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Did you know that?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
No, I didn't.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Until two generations ago. In this world, in this country,
families lived together, they helped each other. The grandparents were
the primary caretaker while the parents worked.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Oh, I have no clue about that.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
I know, and now it's like a foreign concept. But
your your family's doing it, right. That's that's what love is.
It's being there.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yes, they did, and it's I know it's been a
lot on them and I try.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
To help them as what's your son's name, Timothy? How
old is Timothy?

Speaker 2 (02:59):
He's seven?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
And is he getting better or is he still?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Yeah, he's been better for a long time, probably thanks
to their love that you know, he.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Had a lot of times where he had to go.
He was in and out of the hospital a lot
because he was born prematurely.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Let me find a song for your whole family, Kim.
Thank you for calling, and thank you for recognizing the
good that they've done for you.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
And your baby.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
You go give him hubs uh huh bye bye bye.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
Hi Deliah. Peter, how are you, Peter?

Speaker 1 (03:34):
I'm wonderful.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
How are you hanging in there? I found your station
about a month ago.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
I love you, Thank you. I've been here all these
years and you just found me about a month ago.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Yeah, I had a radio, but I've been so deprepped
over the years, and I looked really I was a
little d game way back when the disco era and
the didn't do much of anything. And now unfortunately I'm
in the shelter system and met a person a guy

(04:09):
who became family to me, and he's been very inspirational.
He lifted my spirits up. He told me I was
depressed one next thingking about my passing of my mother, father,
and brother, and how my sister just threw me out
of the house and didn't care what happened to me.
And this person had the same situation more or less.

(04:31):
We have family, but we don't have family. And he
said to me, why are you insulting me? I am
your family. And he's been a wonderful help to me.
I was overweight and maybe start walking again and has
bed legs and authriters and he's been a motivational person
to me. And now he's a very good friend. But

(04:53):
he's in a different shelter now and we don't speak
that much any longer. But I wanted to know that
I'm here for him, you get for me.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
And what's your friend's name, Albert?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
You need to find out how to get in touch
with Albert, because a friend like that is the kind
of friend you want in your life for your whole life.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
Absolutely, you have to write, Alilah, well.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
I will play a song for your best friend, and
I'm glad you've got somebody like that in your corner,
and it sounds to me like just like he's been
a blessing to you. I would guess you have been
a blessing in your friend's life.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
I agree with you. You have a new listener for
the rest of my life.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Hi, Emily, what can I do for you?

Speaker 6 (05:45):
I was wanting to know if you could play a
song for my mom, my dad, and my best friend.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Okay, what can I play for mom, dad, and best friend?

Speaker 6 (05:55):
Well, I was hoping you could pick something. I have
been trying to get through to you for like three years,
so I can't believe I finally got through.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Now during those three years, was it always for mom, dad,
and best friend? Or was it for boyfriend and best
friend and other friend and new boyfriend?

Speaker 6 (06:12):
It was just for my mom, dad and best friends.
They've been there for me throughout the years and they
are still today and they haven't given up on me.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
So all right, give me some names here, Emily.

Speaker 6 (06:24):
Okay. My best friend's name is James, and we met
probably about a year and a half ago, and I've
been through a lot of stuff and he hasn't He
hasn't given up on me, And of course my mom
and dad, which are Dennis and Kathy. And they haven't
given up on me either, even though I've been through

(06:45):
a whole lot of stuff, and they they've been with
me because I hadn't eating disorder. I was diagnosed at
ten with an eating disorder at ten. Yeah, yeah, wow.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
So you how old are you now?

Speaker 6 (07:00):
I'm twenty three now.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
And are you able to live fairly free from obsessive thoughts, healthy,
taking care of yourself, honoring your body, living fully life
or is it still a daily struggle?

Speaker 6 (07:12):
It's still there a little, but I'm doing so much
better than I used to because they didn't give up
on me.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Let me find a song for those that you love.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
Honey, Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
You have a great night.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
Thank you too.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Hi, you've called the Delilah Show.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Who is this?

Speaker 7 (07:36):
Hi?

Speaker 1 (07:36):
I'm Gina, Gina, pick up the phone. I can't be
on a speakerphone.

Speaker 7 (07:41):
Sorry. I was painting.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
That's okay, painting a picture or painting a.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Wall, painting a floor, actually painting a floor. Yes, that's
quite an endeavor.

Speaker 7 (07:52):
It sure is. One of the reasons I called, other
than to thank you for being such an inspiration, is
because I'd like you to play a song for John.
We call him Doc. He and I have been on again,
off again for the past twenty five years, so for
a quarter of a century. John and I have been
on and off. And when I was young, I had

(08:13):
two daughters when I met him, my youngest one was
just a couple of months old. And shortly there after
my grandmother who raised me, had a stroke and I
was going through a divorce, and which I know now
wasn't a friend. A girl that I thought was a
friend said here, try this, she'll feel better. Almost a
year later, at a full blown cocaine addiction, I met John,

(08:37):
and he helped me through that drug addiction, helped me
get clean, was a wonderful father to my daughters while
I was getting clean. Ultimately we ended up ending our relationship,
but John remained a wonderful father figure to my daughters,
and now he and I are still friends, maybe a

(08:58):
little bit more, And I'm just so thankful that my
daughters and I still have him in our life. And
I just wanted to if you could play a song
you thank him for being such a wonderful man and
a wonderful father.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Call him knucklehead.

Speaker 7 (09:14):
I think I will all right.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Good luck, God bless you. I so hope you have
enjoyed these radio moments as much as I enjoy bringing
them to you. I'll share more with you each weekday
