put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Hey it's Delilah.
You know earlier I was thinking about the movie Good

(00:24):
Morning Vietnam.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Have you seen that?

Speaker 1 (00:27):
If you are a young person, do yourself a favor,
do me a favor, do the radio industry a favor.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Watch the Robin.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Williams classic Good Morning Vietnam.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Good Morning Vietnam Best movie ever.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Top ten on my list, Top maybe Top one to No.
Maybe three on my list of great movies. See you
if you are under the age of thirty, did not
grow up with radio being a mainstay in your life,
But when I was growing up, when your folks were
growing up, when your grandparents were growing up, it was a.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Huge part of our life. Huge huge.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
That movie is so well done and so good and
shows you how those of us who are passionate about
our job on the air view ourselves not just as
a voice, a disembodied voice floating around in the night,
but as your friend, your companion, And for me, I

(01:33):
try very hard to be a light in the darkness,
and as the world gets darker, I want this light
to shine brighter.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Hi, welcome to the Delilah Show. What can I do
for you tonight?

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:49):
I was just reminiscing about you, Delilah, looking at an
old picture that I have of you and your children,
you said to me, And it was Sonny's grade school
graduate picture.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Oh my word, that was me, Sonny and Sheila was
Doug in the picture too, That's correct, yep. And I
had on hold on, I had on a red dress,
Sonny had on a suit, Sheila had on a cute
little dress, and Doug was wearing a black jacket, I believe.

Speaker 5 (02:18):
Yeah, something to that affecting. You had a big camera
hanging around your neck.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
M What are you doing?

Speaker 1 (02:24):
What's going on in your life? That's it's been a
long time.

Speaker 5 (02:28):

with a son of my own who is the light
of my life, living my dream job of being a
nurse with very very special children, and I couldn't be happier.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Good for you. What's your husband's name, Mark? And your
son he's MJ.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
It stands for Mark James.

Speaker 2 (02:54):

Speaker 1 (02:56):
I can I'm closing my eyes and looking at your
smile face right now and thinking, oh my gosh, I was.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
The chocolate chip cookie maker when you were in Philadelphia.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
I remember you well. I remember trying to set you
up with somebody.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
A certain radio producer, maybe.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
A certain radio producer.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
But it sounds like you did quite well on your own.

Speaker 5 (03:18):
I did perfectly on my own.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Well, give him my love and tell him that your
chocolate chip cookies were only outdone by the sweetness of
your heart.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
And he is a blessed man, but he knows.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
That, and I'm blessed as well.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Is this my buddy, Renee? Renee who's going to help
me take over the world?

Speaker 6 (03:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:47):
With sappy love songs?

Speaker 7 (03:49):

love Amsterdam.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
So how are you going to help me take over
the world? Renee? We got a partner on this.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
Yeah, I'd like to get your show to Holland. I'm
not sure how to do it, but i'd really like
to do that.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Can you work on that for me?

Speaker 7 (04:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Do you have any relatives or any buddy that you
could get them to pull some strings for me?

Speaker 6 (04:26):
I'm trying. I'm really trying, but it's yeah, it goes
through doing paperwork, and also I'm really working on it.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Okay, how about this, Renee, I will dedicate a song
to you and those that you love here if you
work on getting.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Me on the air there.

Speaker 6 (04:42):

Speaker 2 (04:43):
How many languages do you speak? Four? See perfect? You
can help me out.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
Yeah, I'd love to.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Because I don't even really have a very good command
of the English language, let alone in the others.

Speaker 6 (04:57):
Okay, well, let's sound like a plan.

Speaker 2 (04:59):

kind of like this could be it. I'm facing the
idea I might not survive at C so I don't
know what could happen band anything and surgery, surgery, you know.
And I'm thinking back, it's all the girls I've never
loved before, the ones that got away, the one from
high school that I still would drop dead for. And

(05:44):
I think of her a lot every now and then.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
And what is her name?

Speaker 7 (05:48):
Her name is Lisa?

Speaker 2 (05:49):
And how many.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Years ago was it that Lisa captured your heart and
never let go?

Speaker 7 (05:55):
Boy? We're talking forty.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
And when you were slow dancing with Lisa and the
gym and you're stocking feet, what were you dancing to?

Speaker 7 (06:02):
I've only danced with the one time. On the last
dance of the night. They always played the one, So
that's it.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
One dance and you're still in love with her?

Speaker 7 (06:12):
Man? Is that crazy?

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Or what?

Speaker 7 (06:14):
Am I just the laziest idiot I've ever met in
my life? Honest to god?

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Why have you not like found out if she's out there?

Speaker 7 (06:22):
The shyness is overwhelming. It's unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
You're not shy with me? What's up with that?

Speaker 7 (06:27):
Well, listen, I'll be honest. I did some radio on
the day too, and I've always been how do you
say a character when it comes to meeting people? Because
I put up that wall to hide the shyness, just
the cold feet, the whole sweaty palms was terrible.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
And all these years you've been carrying a torch.

Speaker 7 (06:46):
Yeah, oh Dave, it's really bad. I know.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
I'm going to play a song for you, and I'm
gonna say a prayer that this surgery goes well, which
I already believe it will. And I'm going to say,
when you are recovering, how a teenager help you to
find out how to get in touch with her Holy
moly Man.

Speaker 7 (07:08):
All right, I'm gonna I promise you. I promise you
I will do.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
This, and after you do that, I want you to
get your butt back into radio.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
Be the best, Thank you, great show. By the way
we do bands, I really do mean that you do
a very good job.

Have a good night, sweetie, Have a good night.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Hi is this Brian, Yes, it is so what can
I do for you?

Speaker 8 (07:35):
Well, actually, I was just calling to let you know
that this year in school, I'm taking a class about
women in literature and like in society, and we were
recently just given a project that we had to do
on a woman who has influenced society in any way,
and I chose to do mine on you you're kidding me, No,

(07:56):
thank you.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (07:58):
I just think you're a great inspiration to everyone. And
I thought people who haven't heard of you I should
let them.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Know because so, why do you think I'm a great inspiration.
I've done nothing wonderful.

Speaker 8 (08:08):
Well, I just think you inspired people on your show,
and you comfort them and encourage them for a lot
of things. And I love to respect you. You can
freely talk about God and your faith.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Oh well, thank you.

Speaker 8 (08:22):
Yeah. And well, I was wondering if you could play
a song for my sister. Actually, we were involved in
a car accident about a month ago, and she has
been out of swimming and skiing for the past few
weeks and she'll be out of it for a little longer,
and she's been pretty bummed about that.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
So well, I'm glad you're both okay. Is there anything
I can help you with on your paper? Do you
need any information?

Speaker 7 (08:47):
Well?

Speaker 8 (08:48):
How about a live quote? Anything you would like to
tell I kind of quote?

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Well, I'm serious. I really have not accomplished much in
my life. I didn't finish college, I haven't invented the
cure for the common cold, I haven't climbed a mountain,
I pretty unaccomplished.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I get paid.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Really good money to talk on the radio and play
songs that I love and laugh with people like you.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
That's a great life.

Speaker 8 (09:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
I would say my best accomplishments are loving my children.
Oh definitely, the best things I've ever done. Has had
the privilege in the opportunity to be a mom. Outside
of that, I can't brag on much. I do make
really good pot stickers. Oh really Yeah, Yeah, that's that's
my claim to fame. Huh, and really good sweet potato pie.

Speaker 8 (09:42):
And you are the queen of love song.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
