Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Do you ever
take time to slow down and appreciate the minuscule, the tiny,
(00:29):
the delicate expressions of beauty that swirl about us every day,
like fallen leaves from a maple tree, like rain when
the ground is thirsty and dry. I saw a little
video the other day explaining that they have discovered that
(00:51):
the frequency of birds song early in the morning activates
flowers to open their petals, activates the molecules in the
trees to make food out of sunshine and rainwater. The
(01:11):
frequency of birds song in the morning activates things to
wake up and come to life. How amazing is that?
How miraculous is that? How incredibly cool that God said,
you know what, I'm going to wake you up world
with a song. I'm going to send a fifty bazillion
birds to sing beautiful songs every morning. Look for the
(01:37):
little miracles of life around you every day, and I
promise you you will have a much better attitude.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Hi, Delilah, I wanted to tell you a wonderful story
about my beautiful wife and my little girl.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Okay, tell me about your family.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
What's your wife's name.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
My wife is Jessica, and my little girl is fifteen months.
She's Morgan Elizabeth, and she is truly a blessing. And
I wanted to share with you how your program has
been truly a part of our relationship.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Okay, tell me how have I impacted your family life.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
My wife and I had gotten together, I'm shortly thereafter
we came into what we weren't as blessed as we
are today as financially and we could sit and make
a better part of a night just listening to your show.
And we could sit in the evenings and listen to
your show and talk about the stories and all the
(02:36):
wonderfulness in the world and some of the heartbreak, and
we can relate it to our lives and that things
would get would be better. And you really weren't enough
inspiration for us as we moved through those times, and
it was just so positive and wonderful. And fifteen months
ago we were blessed with Morgan Elizabeth. And now I
(02:57):
can make the better part of the night in the
living room, singing with her and dancing and just having
a great time listening to your program, and it's just
been fantastic. It's not the material things, but it's truly
the love and the support you have to one another
in the companionship. And I can't possibly even begin to
explain how thrilled I am with my life, my world today,
(03:20):
and how truly blessed I feel, and how fortunate. It's
just fantastic.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Hi, who's this? This is Lisa? Lisa? What can I
do for you?
Speaker 5 (03:36):
Well? I think I emailed you a couple of weeks
ago about my son Curtis, and about a funny story
in church, and he was quite it was quite comical.
When the pastor was preaching and at prayer time he said,
if you had any problems or relationship problems, you know,
you could talk to God. And he leaned over to
my niece and he said, well, we could just call
(03:56):
it Delilah and she'd play a nice song and fix everything.
We thought it was pretty funny, and he later in
the car on the way home, my mom had said, well, Curtis,
you know that you could always talk to God about anything,
and he said, yeah, but I don't know his number.
What is it? One eight hundred Heaven? So we had
a pretty good laugh over it, and we really enjoy
(04:18):
your show.
Speaker 6 (04:19):
So did you explain to him that he may never
get through on my crazy phone lines, but God's lines
are always open.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
Always open, always open, always open. Yeah, you don't have
to worry about call waiting or anything like that.
Speaker 6 (04:31):
Anything, and you don't get stuck on hold for that
right that I enjoys that is.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
And how old is he?
Speaker 6 (04:37):
He's nine, So Curtis who's nine, has a good understanding
of where to take your problems.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
Yeah, and it's a good age to know that.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
One eight hundred heaven. I'll have to remember that. God
bless you.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
Okay, you too.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
You have a good night, you two, Delilah, Bye bye bye.
Speaker 7 (05:05):
Hi Ruth, Hi, Delilah.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
How are you?
Speaker 7 (05:08):
I'm doing great?
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Tell me your story.
Speaker 7 (05:11):
Well, about nine years ago, we had a little buffalo
calf that was born on our farm and it was very,
very tiny. He only weighed about twenty six pounds, but
he was really much tinier than the other calves, much
tiner than he should have been. We knew that he
was not going to make it out there, and we
decided that we needed to take him away from her
(05:33):
in order that he might have any chance of survival.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Quick question, Okay, how does one take a baby calf
away from a buffalo? I mean it's not like you know,
you can just walk up and push her out of
the way and say, I know you don't understand this,
but I need to save your child's life.
Speaker 7 (05:49):
Well as you can imagine being a mother. I've heard
how you speak about your children, and it's hard getting
babies away from their mother, no matter what species they are.
But buffalo so powerful, and I really believed that there
was divine intervention that inspired me to come up with
a very creative idea how to get that baby from
(06:10):
his mother. I had some simple green, and I was
inspired that mothers and baby animals tell each other apart
by their odor, and so I got to thinking that
if the baby no longer smelled right, that the mother
would not think it was her baby anymore. So anyway,
we went out there with some diluted simple green in
(06:31):
a spray bottle, and I reached out the truck window
and just sprayed this on the baby calf, and then
sprayed the mother's nose a couple times for good measure.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
And then we drove away, and we waited.
Speaker 7 (06:41):
She sniffed her baby and licked it and it kind
of shook her head like ooh yeah. And then we
just waited, and then pretty soon the mother started wandering
off because she was grazing, and the baby would call
to her, and the mother would come back and sniff
the baby and kind of like ooh no. And she
walked on by it. And she did this about three
or four times, and finally when she went past the
(07:03):
little calf who was making this noise calling her, she
just kind of looked and said, yeah, I've checked you
out before. You're not mine, and she walked right on by.
So then we went and we drove up real quickly,
and I jumped out, grabbed the calf and threw him
in the track, but anyway got him. We wrapped him
in an afghan that I had a blanket, and he
was so tiny and so weak. I decided we needed
(07:23):
to take him to the vet. There was no chance
we could do this on our own. He looked at
me and he says, well, how much can you spend?
And I must have been fairly convincing. I told him
if he could tell me what to do, I would
do whatever he said. And I'm a nurse. I used
to work with premature babies, and I knew how to
do ivs. So we got home and carried him in,
laid him on the kitchen floor, and hung the ivy
(07:45):
on the kitchen cabinet, and he was just so weak. Well,
I have to kind of backtrail here a little bit
because the night that the calf was born, we also
we had a foster son that had been living with
us for about six months. He's a little ten year
old hid his name's Jacob, and the night that this
calf was born, we read him a bedtime story and
(08:05):
it just so happened that the bedtime story was how
God answers children's prayers because he wants their faith to grow.
And then the next morning, Jacob went off and went
to school, and my husband and I did this rescue
thing with the calf. And when Jacob came home from school,
he was so excited to see this little baby calf,
but the calf was so sick. But I said, if
(08:26):
you would pray, I believe with all my heart that
God would answer your prayer because he wants you to
believe in him so much. So Jacob went over, he
put his arm around that little tiny calf and shut
his eyes tight like kids can do, and his little
mouth was moving, and I couldn't hear what he said,
but I knew he was praying and he made it.
(08:46):
And I really believe that he's my angel, because it
was such a miracle that he lived, and that he's
here to demonstrate and to remind us how his prayers
can be answered.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey it's Delilah
