Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Hey it's Delilah.
When I talk about living your best life, living fully,

(00:24):
living with passion and joy and love, a lot of
people think I'm saying be successful, make a lot of money.
I'm not. You will never hear me say that. I
don't think success equates to making a lot of money.
I think success is knowing what your purpose is. If

(00:48):
your purpose is to be a kindergarten teacher or a
preschool teacher, you are never going to make a lot
of money. That's okay. You are going to be fulfilling
your purpose. Being a good person, a kind person, a
compassionate person, is far more important than making a lot
of money. Taking care of your family, making a positive

(01:12):
impact on your street, in your neighborhood, in your community.
That is a much better definition of success for me.
That means gardening, it means raising animals, it means raising kids,
it means being involved in my community. Go live a

(01:33):
successful life, and if you make money doing it, great,
But make memories, make friends, make lasting relationships. Far more important. Hi, Lauren,
What can I do for you? This evening?

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I was wanting to see if I could dedicate a
song to my mom.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
What's your mama's name?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Her name's Renee, And what do you want to tell her?
I just want to tell her thank you. Graduating college.
She's just been like my support through all no matter
what I've done and my mistakes and my accomplishments. She's
just encouraged me to learn from both of them. And
I just I couldn't have done it. I couldn't have
made it through four years of college without her help.

(02:16):
And what are you graduating with a degree in my
bachelor's and social work?

Speaker 4 (02:20):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (02:20):
My goodness.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah. And I've been all over and I've been to
some scary places in the past few years, and she's
never told me not to go and never discouraged me.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
And now that you're graduating, what are you going to
do with your future?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
My heart is in ministry, in inner city children's ministry,
and I'm just gonna I'm going to follow that with
everything I've got.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Well, have a beautiful graduation. Congratulations for your heart's desire
to work with kids who really need you.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
Thank you so much, and thank you for caring more
about that than than making tons of money.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
I'm okay with that.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Good for you. I love hearing that. I love I
love knowing that people place relationships and life and doing
good things to help others above you know, being rich
and famous.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
It's been a challenge, but I know I can do it.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yes, yes, you can. You just need to learn one
hundred and one ways to make top ramen noodles.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Exactly. It'll work.

Speaker 6 (03:18):
Yeah, if you.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Boil them for a few minutes and then fry them,
throw in some scallions, some frozen peas. You got a
great meal for under fifty cents.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Exactly.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
God bless you have a beautiful graduation. Thank you change
the world girl.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I'm going to try.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
HI.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
Good evening.

Speaker 6 (03:43):
Who's this Deborah?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Deborah? What can I do for you?

Speaker 6 (03:47):
I would like for you to play a song for
my tail. They really joined together and helped me through
an illness that was very serious, and they were just
everybody was just remarkable and I didn't even know, made
sure that I had food, and they'd come walk my
dog and keep you company and they were just wonderful.

(04:09):
And there's no way that I can write thank you
cards to everybody. But this is a wonderful town and
I just want to thank them, and I would love
for you to play a song for.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Them, for the whole community. And what were you going
through that you needed so much help?

Speaker 6 (04:26):
I went completely blind and I was diagnosed with it
eight months ago, and the site went faster than anyone
could expect. And that's the reason. They all gathered around
me and helped me get the things that I needed
to adapt to my blindness. And it's just awesome what

(04:47):
they've done.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
And what caused you to lose your sight?

Speaker 6 (04:51):
Diabetes. It's pretty serious and we didn't expect it to
go so fast, but it did. But I'm adjusting thanks
to the community and my doctors are wonderful.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
Well, let me find a song to say thank you
to the entire community. And while we're at it, let's
just say thank you to everyone who goes out of
their way to bless others.

Speaker 6 (05:14):
Oh, yes, thank you.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
You have a good night.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
I got a poignant letter from Ginny, who wanted to
share some thoughts about her father. She writes, Dear Delilah,
my dad did not teach me how to ride a
bike or how to fish in a stream, or how
to play baseball, or how to fix things. But I

(05:49):
taught him that helping families with children who have disabilities
was to be his destiny.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
See.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
I was born with spina bifida, and when I was
just a few hours old, while holding me in the nicky,
my dad made a vow to help others like me
for the rest of his life. If God would just
let me live, he begged. I'm happy to report that
after ten days in the nicku, eighteen years of numerous surgeries,
and better than average health so far, I'm now a

(06:18):
college freshman. Dad has been helping families who have children
born with disabilities for twelve of those eighteen years. In fact,
he says I've inspired him so much that I've become
the spokesperson for his nonprofit organization. I'm proud of my
dad for not giving up on me. I cannot thank
him for all that he's done in my life and

(06:39):
in the lives of countless other children who needed a champion.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Hi, Kathy, Hi hei doing.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I'm good.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
What can I do for you tonight?

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Well, I just want to I'll let everybody know that
I have some three beautiful little sons. They're mine. Now,
they were a gift from the Lord of God. They
were just given to me as a precious gift.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
So God gave them to you through adoption or God
gave them to you through birth.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
No, my daughter she carried the twins and she gave
them to me. They were the first ones. And about
a couple of years ago I got the two year
old that I have now, So they make three of them.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
So these are your grand babies.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
These are supposed to be my grand babies, but they're
my boys. Now.

Speaker 5 (07:27):
Can I ask how old you are, Kathy?

Speaker 4 (07:29):
I'm forty five.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
And did you ever think at this stage in life
you would be raising small children?

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Again?

Speaker 4 (07:35):
No, but I guess God had something in his hand
that said, okay, woman, you need three more.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
How old is the youngest that you've got two?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
And the twins are five?

Speaker 4 (07:45):
Yes, and you can't tell that I have babies here
and they are so well mannered, they're respectful. And when
I we go to a friend's house, I can't believe
you have three little ones. I don't know how you
do it. I said, well, you just you know, raised
them the right you love you show Molah love and
attention and do the things you have to do and
be like them, you know. And that's what I do.

(08:05):
I play with them. I talk to them, and they
come to tell me that they got a Google here
or something wrong with them, and we're happy. You know.
I love them to death. I mean, I'm happy that
I have three little ones.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
Now, Well, you go kiss them and love them and
hug them, and they will keep you young, Kathy, And
I'll play a song for this family that God is building.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey It's Delilah.
