Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Hi there, How
is your summer going so far? Have you had lots
(00:24):
of cold watermelon?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Check?
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Lots of hot dogs on the grill in my house?
That would be a check check check. Have you gone
to the park of the beach or jumped through the
hose in the front yard. Have you taken time to
take care of you? Are you on vacation? Are you
having a staycation? Is this summer everything you've expected or
(00:53):
hoped for so far? Hi Crystal, Welcome to your summer night.
What can I do for you? I kind of have
a story. I'm currently living with my grandparents and they
do amazing job. My grandpa's not really good with his health,
so he's more like a dad. And so life has
(01:15):
brought you back into your family, back with your grandparents,
and they're giving you a helping hand up. How many
people are living together? How many people are in your family?
There's just four of us swimming here, because it sounds
like there's like forty.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
No, we just have my nephew in them over swimming.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Oh fun?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Fun. So it's a pool party, yeah, kind of. Do
you guys have ice cream trucks in your neighborhood.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
We do not.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
I have not seen an ice cream truck, and I
don't even know how long. Remember when the ice cream
truck would play the song and all the kids would
run out of the street and get ice cream in it.
Remember all melty all over your face, in your hands,
and for some reason it tasted so much better than
the same ice cream that was in the freezer in
(02:04):
your mom's kitchen.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
You know, yes, but.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yes, I have not sew one of them.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
In a while, I will play a summertime song for
Grandpa to let him know how much you love him.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
All right, thank you.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
You have a wonderful rest of your summer with your
family and your nieces and nephews and cousins and whoever.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
You too, have a good summer.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Joe, what can I do for you?
Speaker 4 (02:33):
I wanted to let you know about something the other day.
You were talking about what to do with your little
one during the summer.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Fun things to do with kids to keep them from saying, Mom,
I'm bored, exactly.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
I'm bored exactly. I'll tell you what my mother did ever,
since I was a little one. We had a garden
summer that was Mom's guarden and took care of it,
and she showed us how to plant things, grow things,
when tomatoes were ripe and everything. She showed us how
(03:10):
to make tomato sauce and spaghetti sauce and things like that.
And the most lasting memory of all of this, besides
the fact that she used to make a big deal
whenever she brought it to the dinner table, was the
simple fact that when I was seven, I broke my knee.
(03:31):
And what do you do with a seven year old
all summer long who's in mobile. Well, she taught me
how to cook, and I can tell you that that
is something that lasted my entire lifetime. And she passed
away a little while ago. A matter of fact, this
passed Eastern So at any rate, I thought that might
(03:55):
help you.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Well, it sounds like your mother didn't just leave an inheritance.
She left a legacy.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
She left more than that. She was the second woman
judge in the United States.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Really yeah, good for her.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
What an inspiration.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Incredible when you think about it.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
God, bless you.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Thank you for sharing great memories of Mom and great
things for us to do with our kids this summer.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Try it well.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I'm going to be out in the garden tomorrow. I'll
give my kids some gardening tools to join me. You
have a great night, honey, you too.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Hi, you've called the Delilah Show. Who is this?
Speaker 5 (04:45):
My name's Athena and my cousin Alison's with me.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Athena and Alison, Welcome to the Delilah Show.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Are you having a good summer? Girls?
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Yeah? So what's the most fun thing besides listening to
my radio show? Obviously, what's the most fun thing you've
done this summer?
Speaker 5 (05:06):
We just like to hang out with each other too, Yeah,
and go to the beach.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Beach is fun? Have you like been to any theme parks, amusement.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Parks or Ferris wheels or those big scary rides?
Speaker 5 (05:21):
Not yet, But I wanted to call to request this
song for this guy. I know his name is Blake,
and like we're really good friends and stuff. But I
kind of like him and he kind of likes me
(05:42):
that we're both kind of shy people.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
How old are you?
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Thirteen?
Speaker 1 (05:47):
And this is a big crush? Does mom like this boy?
Or does mom even know there's a crush? On this boy. Yeah,
and is he a nice young man?
Speaker 5 (05:58):
Yeah, he's really nice.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Respectful kind, Yes, all right, So what song can I
play for this guy you've got a crush on?
Speaker 5 (06:10):
I was wondering if you could pick some things?
Speaker 1 (06:12):
All right, hown't I pick something for you two girls
in the fun summer you're having.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
Oh, that'd be awesome.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
And I'll just.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Throw a little twist of a crush in there on
top of it.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Yes, that'd be good.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
All right, you have a good night, Thank you, Thank
you for calling girls. Bye bye.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Hi, you've called Delilah. Who's this?
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Hi, Delilah, This is Debbie. I was just laying here
with my dog Jack. We listened to you every night
and it's just a treat to hear people, hear their
stories that you can relate to and just laughing and
the sadness and all the different people. It's like everybody
relates to everybody else, and it's just like genuine people
that call into your radio station.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
That's why I love doing this show. It really is
an awesome community of friends. So what kind of dog
is Jack?
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Jack is a boxer Springer Spaniel mix. He's just wonderful.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
That's an interesting mix.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
He is, he's beautiful. I get compliments everywhere we go,
or I take him for walks into the parks and there.
What is he? He's just a mix, but he's a great.
He's just great.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
So what can I play for you and Jack and
whoever is on your heart on this hot summer night.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Well let's do just a hope and courage. Maybe looking
for a soulmate.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Okay, yeah, we'll play. Maybe when you're walking the dog
in the park you'll meet some other dog lover, and
who knows what will happen.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Okay, that sounds good.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
You have a good night.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
Thank you you too.
