Speaker 1 (00:01):
From My Art Radio, Common Enemy and Tender with TV's
They Pal podcast Hey Pala with Jared and Davon. Alright,
we're back with part two of our great interview with
the amazing Tiffany Hattish. By the way, that's right. You

(00:24):
were out gambling. Kids, Do not gamble um your parents
will lose a lot of it was you and the
other cho and our our our intern um slash Craigslist
find uh. Jared, we did the interview together, and you know,
I forgot to mention it. But it's pretty huge because

(00:45):
Tiffany won her first Grammy. She's the first African American
women to win a Grammy since six whoop be Goldberg.
So it's a huge saying is I leave the show
for one episode? Yeah, and we interviewed Grammy and you
forget no, no, no, no, trying reverse. Yeah, you forget
to mention that your friend want a Grammy. Yeah. Well,
you know, there's just so much there's so much great

(01:06):
stuff to talk about with Tiffany that you know, it
was one of those things that slipped my mind. Okay,
that makes absolutely no sense, but nothing you say makes
sense anyways, What what what? What? What did she win
for you? Dave, she want for Best Comedy Album for
her comedy album called black Mitzvah, Black Mitzvah. That's right,

(01:28):
and we're both Jewish and we know what it's we are.
And uh, you know, she threw an amazing party at
the SLS Hotel, if memory serves me correctly. Are you
allowed to give away that location? Sure? I mean it
was a year ago. Yeah, it was over a year ago,
and um, she threw the party and she actually had

(01:49):
a bar Abot Mitzvah ceremony there, which was awesome, and uh,
it was all her closest family and friends. So you
weren't there, and um, it was it was David, Why
don't you tell the people? I'm sure you didn't go
solo to the party. Who did you bring to the party?
You know, I actually brought a mutual friend of Tiffany,
I Gian Carlos standing that regular place for the New

(02:12):
York Yankees, former m v P of Major League Baseball.
And it was really really cool because one of Tiffany's
good friends and future co stars, Billy Crystal, whose legend,
was there. And as you know, Billy's a massive New
York Yankees fan, so he was super excited to uh
to meet gian Carlo and hang out. So Dave, did
you guys did you listen it? Was it like an

(02:33):
album released party or was it a was it a no?
It was an actual it was it was a birthday
party bar mitzvah ceremony for but four tip. It was
Tiffany her birthday, okay, And so did you get to
hear the album though? Uh? Well, I had heard parts
of the album prior to that, but not at that event.
So when you're listening to this album, are you going this? Like?

(02:53):
I guess what I'm getting to is like, do you
know when you hear something if it has like that
it factor, like do you know like, Okay, you're gonna
be nominated and possibly even win a Grammy in a
year from now. Yeah. I mean, I think when you're
in the presence of a talent like Tiffany's, and you know,
I've been lucky enough to be in rooms with people
when they're creating, you kind of get that. You definitely
get that feeling that something special is happening. Um and

(03:17):
with her. You know, the great thing is, she didn't
do that album, you know, seeking Grammy. She just did
it because her creative self, and you know she reaped
the benefits of that. No, I get that. I'm just
wondering from you because you've been in You've been in
l A, You've been in Hollywood for forever, right, and
you've been in rooms with the Jamie Foxes and the

(03:38):
Tiffany Hatishes and all these people that were you know,
we're lucky enough to be in the room. So when
you listen to something, whether or not it's music or
or you watch a movie before it comes out, do
you think you have a good grasp on, like you know,
what is the it factor? And what you know? It's
just because everyone's talent. You know, there's a lot of
talent in this town. Yeah, I what separates that talent
from then being able to win a Grammy? I definitely

(03:59):
think that, uh, you know, knowing her abilities and knowing
the opportunities that could come from it, potentially, I definitely
think I was hoping, you know, and wishing that that
would be the end result of her winning something. But again,
like everything else, comedy subjective and what some person might
think is amazing, other people might not. Well, right, just
like a lot of people think that, you know, I'm funny,

(04:21):
and that you're not. Well, it's quite the contrary. That's
in maybe I had to beat you too, because I
knew you were getting I knew, yeah, I knew maybe
maybe in Twilight Zone Land. Some people think you're funnier
than I am, but yeah, I'm definitely not. Let me well,
let me ask you the same question. When when you
produce Cutthroat City, did you have any idea that would
maybe be number one on Netflix at some point? Because

(04:41):
that's pretty cool. I mean, I just think that that's
different than when you're listening to an album or when
you see somebody's you know, singular talent on on screen.
You know what I mean. Kyle and I are having
to watch a movie as a whole, and there's so
many different pieces. Um. You know, we we made a
short film like three or four years ago. I didn't
think it was gonna be special at all, and then

(05:02):
it ended up being super special. So I think I
just think it's that's a weird one for me, you know, movies.
That's why I was asking you. You know, it's like
when you hear but but but when you go and
you watch someone, I have been able to like watch
you know, someone on screen and go, oh, that person
is going to get attention, you know what I mean,
Like when Kyle and I went and did you know
we summon the Darkness and we're and we're sitting there

(05:23):
watching you know, Tanner Beer play the sheriff or even
Austin Swift, you know who who got murdered first. I'm forgetta.
Do you remember Austin's character's name Ivan? Yeah, that's right.
Uh was it Ivan? Yeah? Yeah, you know you're going, oh, yeah,
he's singularly doing something special and there's something pouring, you know,
out from from the screen that is a little bit

(05:44):
different than other people, but as a whole, that's that's
you know, there's just so many factors on, like you know,
music choices and just everything. So yeah, I don't know,
it's hard, but it's interesting, right, But kudos to Tiffany.
I mean, this is we've got We've got a Grammy
winner on our show. Dave, we do we do on
your show because of your selfishness, you weren't there and uh,

(06:06):
you know, we had to use our our our number
one seeded, Jared, you would be the number two seeds
at least something to sea. I thought you're gonna say,
on the eighth and the West Regional bracket, you'd be
the number two at this point, at least something number two.
I can, I can. I can live with that. That's fine.
But you know you you missed out and you were
counting your winnings in Vegas or you know or whatever. Yeah,

(06:28):
it was more likely that I was crying. Yes, but
that's true. That is very true. But all kidding aside,
I believe it is time for one of your favorite segments.
Who upset that you went and got a Jared to
replace a Jared? I mean that's called symmetry, and that's
called karma. Bitch. Okay, continue, sorry, but let's go to

(06:51):
one of your favorite segments. Pal, I think we I
think we're gonna call Ry Guy right now, Katie Kyle,
can we can we get ry Guy on the line? Please?
Let's get him on Let's let's get rye guy. We
did them dirty last week, we did we did. I
think he went with a ring of ding day with
and we clicked and we and we and we clicked
on here right right? Doesn't look thrilled to see his pals,

(07:14):
right guy? Hey pals? Wow? A little condest Can we
get a little bit more excitement. Please, Hey, it's it's okay.
I came on hot. I was throwing that pedro. Suppose
heat you guys couldn't handle it? All right? Before we
have to hang before we have to hang up on you?
Right guy? Can you give us a nine? Best picture?

(07:36):
Go was the best movie? I mean it's Are you
even allowed to mention his name? Yeah, that's that's very true.
And by his you meet you mean Mel Gibbs, You
mean Mel Gibson. Well he's probably available, okay. In that
In that same year, do you know who won the

(07:57):
national championship men's basketball? Go was? It? Was? It easy?
At O'Bannon. It was. I only know that. I think
I bought a car from him. So this is a
cool thing, all right, right guy, we appreciate you. We
will look we made it through a whole thing. But
thank you for your time. Ry Guy and Rye Guy.
We trust all right? Once again we've been graced with

(08:22):
the wisdom of Rye Guy. Jared, do you feel like
you're a better person now? I I feel like we
need to replace him with another Ryan. I think we should.
That's fine. Are there any other Ryan's out there that
we can replace guy. If I can be replaced Ry
Guy can be replaced. I concur we finally agree on something.

(08:44):
This is great. You know what we should get into
the interview symmetry. Let's do it. Don't go anywhere, Hey,
Pam will be right back after a word for our sponsors. Now,
you've had the opportunity to work with a lot of
amazing actors and actresses. Um, I want to ask you

(09:05):
the same thing I did with the shaved head question,
who's your NBA team of actors and actresses that you've
worked with? And we'll talk a little bit about like
the point guards, the floor general. So who's your point guard? Nice,
I could see that absolutely, all right? Who's your shooting guard.
Who's the person that when you need a big moment

(09:28):
you can trust to pass them the ball and they're
gonna come through? Jada Jada? Wow, alright, you'll come through
in the clutch, in the clutch, Okay, all right? Now,
who are you counting on? Two? Make that big rebound?

(09:50):
You know when maybe there's been a little bit of
a lull on set and somebody needs to come pick
it up again and bring it and unfortunately, there you go. Okay,
I can see that, And uh, who do you have
that you need somebody to defend the ball, defend the
scene and make sure that it doesn't go off track

(10:10):
because sometimes it can with all the improv and comedy.
Who can bring it back? Melissa McCarthy, Melissa McCarty nice,
I love it all right? And who is the person
that you've worked with as a comic that you think
would become a great director and that that's already directed
or hasn't directed yet, that hasn't directed yet. Wow, Yeah,

(10:37):
that would be amazing. He's incredible what he wants and
he's very clear about that. Yeah, okay, awesome. Alright, So
right now I'm gonna do a little something called the
Time Out Penalty Box. I'm gonna ask you a series
of questions or rapid fire, super easy, super simple, um,
and you just give me one answer. Wonder woman or batwoman?

(11:01):
Wonder Woman. What is one destination on earth that you
want to visit that you haven't visited yet? Poppiette, Nice Nagusta.
If you Papiette, it's near Brabatanka. Yes, my Gusta, it's not,
but it's a different places. But hey, it's po listen

(11:24):
to me. I'm on antibiotics. I'm a mask. He's barely
holding it together. You guys gotta give me a freaking break.
I got it for Calenesian islands. You want to make,
I may have. I'm here to help you. I don't
want them to be like, oh my gooster, but you
don't know what. I respect the polynesia. I respect that.
The what's that mean? What's that mean? It's what they

(11:49):
do before a game. Oh is that like near like
New Zealand? Like, oh yeah, near New Zealand? Yeah? The hawkay? Yeah,
gotta go with the yes. I love it. Nice. Good job, Craigslist,
good job. All right. Um, let's see, if you could
only listen to one musical artist the rest of your life,

(12:11):
who would it be? You can only listen to one?
You probably want an expansive library of songs. Who would have? Prince? Prince?
It's a good one. You would never get tired of prints,
never get tired of print. He got, he got a
super big catalog. He does. He does even songs. Y'all
haven't heard before that. I've heard yep. I believe it.

(12:31):
I believe it. Tiffany, Can I trade you my hair
for those unreleased print songs. Okay, it was worth a shot,
all right. Um, let's see the people want to know
silk sheets or cotton sheets. Cotton sheets, cotton sheets? Why

(12:53):
is that? Because they absorbed sweat better, and when you
get moist on the sheets, they absorb the moisture better.
And silk you slip and you get hot and all that. Like,
it's just and it gets if you get moisture, it
gets a little cresty. I mean, it's just you're talking

(13:13):
about when you're bam chicken bowman, I'm talking about fucking yeah,
all right, And I like the fun. I like the funk,
and I'm gonna I'm gonna craymage to my answers. Okay, okay, okay,
it's better for my couch. All right. Now, final question,

(13:36):
What would you be if you weren't who you are?
What profession? I'd be a sexual education teacher? Wow? If
he had it? Amazing? All right, you were out of
the time out penalty box. And hey, pal, great job.
And we're gonna wrap up our show with our final
movie seatings A. Hopefully our craig'slister doesn't screw this up,

(13:58):
hopefully approaches the semi this is a semifinals. I probably okay,
don't go anywhere. Hey, Pam will be right bad after
a work for our sponsors. I'm reading what is here? Okay, um, okay,

(14:20):
so we've got what see do we in? I'm gonna
need you. Well, this is the semifinals. Okay, So semifinals
there should be. We should be picking between two categories.
All right, So we have dumb and dumber and something
about Mary. I thought we got rid of something about Mary.
Oh no, no, I deleted Bridesmaid's bridesmaid dub dumber and
Bridesmaid's good jobs. There was too much pressure on, too

(14:44):
much pressure, always coming to in the club. I'll smell weed,
but I don't play games. I remember seeing If I'm
ann play a game, I'm gonna play to win. And
I'm gonna tell you right now, as bride'smaid. You just
jaded him. You just got jaded Jerry, all right, he
he just got read, just read you did. I'm gonna

(15:05):
go look for another job on Crazis after this last one,
last one. Um, we got coming to America versus ace
Ventura coming to America. Yeah, we go, all right, so
now we have Now we have the final. Now we
have the finals. Okay, so this is it. It comes
down to two movies for the greatest comedy of all

(15:28):
time in in our seating picks, go ahead. Okay. So
we've got Bridesmaids and we've got Coming to America. Now,
I'm gonna tell you right now, this would have been
really difficult to have job put girls tripping there. Well,
we we what she did. We're smart. I mean we can't,
but you did. But you could have. You could have.

(15:48):
I'm humble enough to know what's funny you're did something else.
But it's gonna be coming to America. Wow. There it
is the champion coming to America. Well, Tiffany, this has
been incredible. I can't thank you enough. I know it
was a little awkward with the possibility of me passing
out with me literally meeting this guy like six hours ago. Uh,

(16:08):
you are literally I I don't say it lightly, or
one of my favorite people on the planet. You inspire people.
You have stayed true to who you are. You haven't
changed one bit. You eat at the same restaurants you
ate out before you made it. You and you lost weight.
You were the same dress. If you want to fucking
wear the same dress on a carpet. So you're a

(16:30):
true original and I think that you're just an amazing
inspiration and somebody that you know, this world definitely needs
right now. So I love you, and I thank you
and uh, thanks so much. I love you and I'm
praying for your health and swift recovery. Thank you. But
we can get back in the streets and run a round. Okay,
all right, thank you. It's a nice meeting. Definitely. Okay,

(16:52):
you'll never see her again probably wow poal Yeah, right
by the way, Yeah, Kyle, Now, I now I understand
why Kyle wouldn't send me that episode for me to
listen to. Yeah, that's a good episode. It was a
great episode. And even though I was on my deathbed
because during my entire illness, that was probably the day

(17:13):
that I was the worst, the worst that I had been.
And um, I mean, you're lucky. You're lucky I wasn't
there because if I was there, I would have picked
a fight with you or something. You probably would have
picked a fight with me. As insensitive as you are,
you probably would have picked this is the perfect time
to go after him. Yeah, I know exactly. Yeah, it
would have been what I would have done. And uh,
you know, but Tiffany had my back. You saw by

(17:36):
the way that we had a stranger in the room.
She's a real friend, she's a real pal. That's big time, Dave. Honestly, no,
I'm getting you proferate. That's a big time to have
to have a pal on the show. A lit by
the way, that's a list. Yeah, that's a list Tiffany has. Anyways,
No that that that was great. That was awesome. She
had your back. You guys had my back. Yes, I
appreciate it. So Tiffany Haddish, thank you for coming on

(18:00):
the hay Peal podcast. And uh, and I guess, I mean,
what else do you have to say, daf That's it.
Love you, tiff We appreciate it. See you next time.
