Speaker 1 (00:01):
Yeah, let's go shut out the mountain a fish, I
got it. Give what's doing right for the coach if
you just see it with them using a lection, just
putting that.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Mike you approach.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
You didn't let me down with the paths, Didy, didn't
let me down with a switch did it.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Didn't let me down with the PRESDD this is your boy.

Hit me the goofy line. Man, I'm gonna call you
Donald duck.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Real time and they know Goofy's over here.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Yeah and shout out, shout out to the distant cousins
man title league. You know, this is what it is, man,
So let's get it man. And of course, you know,
get on the website h H hoops dot com. You
know you're gonna see all the phenomenal stuff there and uh,
you know the merge. My guys decked out. We got
the deck out stuff here. So that's what it is.
But we're gonna get into the show. We got a
(01:37):
good show today. We got a really really good show
and I'm going to you know, today we're gonna start
off talking about Western Conference teams. Yeah, living two completely identities, man,
true identities. You know. So I want to talk about
the two coaches that got fired. We got Jenkins and
we got Malone. Yes, and we'll start off with the Grizzlies.
(02:01):
You know, you got a GrITT and grind coach. He
was opposed Apparently he was supposed to be the guy
that was supposed to help bring that you know, that
GrITT and grind back to the grindhouse, right, you know. Uh,
but that the identity that they they have now they
(02:23):
went they went from basically their identity being tough, nose right,
defensive team, you know, always in the top five. As
far as defensive ratings to you know, shooting up to
double digits, I think they're at twelve, I want to say.
Now as far as defensive ratings like twelve, I want
to say, still decent team, middle of the pack almost yeah,
(02:45):
but they don't have that wing they tried. They started
off with Marcus Smart or what they had Dylan Brooks
traded him off. He was the scapegoat and they tried
the smartest smart. It just didn't work. And you know
they are where they are now, right, So, uh, you
got you got Taylor Jenkins who's fired not too long ago.
Now you got Michael Malone, isn't flashy, not a flashy
(03:07):
guy at all, built a drama free team, no issues
at all, none, and he gets fired. Right. My question
though that I want to ask what kind of coach
wins in the NBA today? Are we talking about a
culture builder like Malone who keeps, you know, the same
(03:29):
tone you know when whether they're winning or losing, or
a young coach like Jenkins who you know, sometimes he
gets swallowed in the storm. Like, what kind of coach
wins in the NBA to day, I.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Think a coach, a coach that has a great relationship
in partnership with their GM, then GM. Yes, the GM
plays a major role when it comes to They're the
ones that are putting the team together, you know what
I mean. And the coach basically has to work with
the ingredients that the GM provided him to make this
ultimate meal.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
You feel me.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
So on the Memphis side, first off, you get rid
of five of coach Jenkson, Coach Jenkins assistant coaches. Five
of them are gone, five new ones are in. All right,
So right then and there you're starting from Graham's ground zero.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
You feel me.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
You take the ball out maybe because John Morant was
away for a bit.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
And he was fair enough, like we gotta be fair.
Like John Moran's been in and out of the lineup, right,
He's been in and out of lineup a lot. Has
been in and out of the lineup a lot. So
it's not like they've been consistent with their team like
in case, he's been consistent with their team. Guys play
basketball all the time. So Houston as well, like the
guys are always in there. So I get that part.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
But at the same time, like you get rid of Jenkins'
coaching staff that he probably handpicked, you know what I mean,
you give him something totally different. Boom, Now you gotta
deal with all right. Now you're taking the ball out
of Jaw's hands the majority of the time. So that's
some adjusting that Jah got to get used to, you
(05:12):
feel me. And then I just felt like, you guys
are just well, the media, we're just really harping on
jazz you know issues, but it's not even how could
it be an offward issue if you never really got
charged with having like for a bust and a gun
or anything along those lines of homicide.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
You feel me.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
I feel like they're treating this, they're treating Jaw like
that he's that guy that's just you know, a menace
to society, when really that's far from the truth.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
The man could actually hoop.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
No, but I don't think anybody is denying that he
can actually hoop or not. But the question is is,
like we're talking about professionalism, correct. You know, Isaiah Thomas
had an issue with Lebron come into the game with
no shirt even though he's been doing this like for
the longest time, shooting around and do rag before anybody
gets there, he's on the floor shooting. Right, we have
(06:11):
John Moran. Professionalism doesn't exist when it comes to him.
You're coming to the game on the sideline and you
have a pool shisty on your face. But like that's
dumb ass ship, Like are we are we focusing on
the actual game of basketball or the other things? And
that's what I think a lot of people have issues
with with him.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
That's I mean, that has nothing to do with what
he brings on the basketball court.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
But clearly what he's doing, what he's bringing, is more
of a distraction. They did, they lost. They lost to
look just look at their record now, like they're they're
fighting for their lives in the playing They are a
playing team.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
And that was because the injuries and all that compiled
with the antics of jos so be it. But I
think the record is the way it is because one
they lost a bunch of coaches on their coaching staff.
Two they kind of changed the whole scheme of how
they're gonna approach offensively and maybe defensively. And and three okay,
(07:16):
they got rid of they got rid of coach Jenkins,
who was my preseason Coach of the Year. If everything
would have remained, not knowing that they got rid of
the coaches, the coaching staff. But the last eight games,
you know what I mean, John has been averaging even
though they won three and five, that twenty eight point
four points to game man four point three rebounds, six
(07:38):
point three assists, and forty eight from the field and
basically thirty eight from three. His three point shooting has
gone up since the fire, since since his coach being
let go, you know what I mean. I'm not saying
it has to do anything with the coach, but now
the balls in his hands a lot more, you know
what I mean, And that's how it should have been
(07:59):
from the jump. I'm not saying, you know, the coaching
staff they came up with a strategy because he's not
around that much. Cool, but when he is around, put
the ball in his hand and let him lead. That's
all I'm saying, you know what I mean. And then
on the can he lead though, that's the question we
don't know.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Is he a good Is he a good leader? They
went from the number two seed. Now they're playing team right,
so he is he a lead? Or do they need
that that that coaching or do they need that Dylan
Brooks guy who is a glue guy. Do they like that?
That's the thing. No one's ever denying his talent and
what he can do offensively, But we're talking about loose balls,
(08:39):
getting to loose balls, fifty to fifty balls, Like, does
he make those type of players that win games? Because,
like you said, in those stats that you gave us,
they're three and five in that time, So it's not
translating to actual wins.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
I mean two games under five hundred or three games
on two three games, two games on five hundred.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
This is the West. This is not the West, That's
what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
And there's such a crazy there's such a small margin
between what four and ten, you know what I mean,
or three and ten or four and ten, I should say,
but that's the West though, it is the West. So
at the end of the day, all I'm saying was
on the Memphis side, the GM, he knew what he
(09:24):
knew what he was doing in regards to maybe they
can't afford jaw so maybe this is their way of
getting rid of John the offseason.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Who knows getting rid of this coach, you know?
Speaker 4 (09:32):
But now this is to me, it's a win win situation,
because now Jock can really show showcase what he's about
and it's at the right time going into the playing
great watch what he does.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
You know what I mean, it could transfer. I know
you you've you've been you know you've been advocated for Joe.
I haven't really you know I have just the antics
for me alone is too much. But I still want
you to answer this question. You know what kind of
coach today, Like, what kind of coach today wins basketball games? First?
Speaker 4 (10:03):
A coach that can adapt with his players, that's adaptable,
that's relatable to his players. But on a bigger scale,
the GM and the coach got to be on the
same page.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
That's just that's just you got it. Like, first off,
you got a colleagues that's first and foremost, Like you
guys worked together so to not be on the same
page and not speaking like that don't And that's.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
What happened on the Denver side, you know what I mean.
I think coach Malone's been there ten years, his coach in.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Denver history like two years ago.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
A hip then but then guess what you get you
get rid of Bruce Bowen, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Or you don't you don't. You don't.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
Sorry, you get rid of Patavious, right, you guys choose
not to pay him. That Calvin Booth as a GM
making those decisions bringing in younger talent who knows, you
know what I mean, maybe some money.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Thing you pay Jamal, you pay.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
Porter?
Speaker 2 (10:57):
You know.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Was that was too much right, too much money at
the same time, that was too much money at the
same time.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
You know, their their defense went down because their best defender,
your man, Aaron Gordon.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
He's been away for how many games?
Speaker 3 (11:12):
It's been hurt. He's been hurt. He's been hurt, know
what I mean?
Speaker 2 (11:14):
So who's there to back up Aaron Gordon?
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Who?
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Why couldn't mister Calvin Booth make sure he found a
backup towards that instead of getting rid of Brown and
getting rid of Pope like guys that they needed glue
guys to.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Me, I don't understand. My thing is I don't I
never understand is when when you win a championship with
a certain squad, why can't we the NBA is like
one of the one teams that I mean sports that
it's hard to like bring everybody back with the same
formula like you just won Bruce Brown, Bruce Brown, he
(11:49):
gotta go. He goes and takes a few more, a
couple extra dollars, and he's with Indiana. Then bounces around
to Toronto and goes here and goes there. But it's like,
why does why can't NBA teams when you win a
championship bring the same team that you won. I think
Boston might be the only team like in recent years.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
And if they do win, if Boston does go back
to back, it proves my point. If Kawi never left,
Toronto would have went back to back. But anyway, I know,
guys hate me talking about Toronto all the time, but
it is what it is.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Raptors would have went back to back if.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
They go to keep their team together, right, That's not
I think on a player standpoint, or from a player
standpoint as a fan looking in, it's the money and
whoever's representing these guys, maybe these agents. That's why you
see Jalen Brown and Shay getting rid of their agents,
like you know what I mean, giving these bad idea,
giving these bad advice and stuff.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Bro, the money ain't going nowhere.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
You guys got collective bargain agreements TV deals like the
money's gonna be solid.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
You just go out and produce. And I think winning teams.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Guys takes lesser pay, but they figure out ways to
get it back. Real agents will help them find ways
to get their money, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Stay in a winning situation.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
That's what I would say. So on the Denver side,
deserve or not deserved, Well, they're staying on the Denver side.
Mike Malone was gonna get fired regardless. They were gonna
fire him from time. But they won the chip, you
know what I mean. They had the winning formula. Even
though they can go Booth play play through Joker play
(13:19):
too joker. I just think Booth and and Malone they
just kept button heads. So the owner, so he said,
and that was stupid. But anyway, right before the play
right before the playoffs, I was super dumbest thing you
can do.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
That was the dumbest thing you could do.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
And it then it puts it puts a lot of
pressure on Alman the new coach, you know what I mean,
because now, sure you won two games, but at the
same time, they're going in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Bro, They're going in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
The playoffs is a different breed and your coach. Coaches,
coaches that have that experience about what the playoffs is
all about, they're the ones that kind of go farther.
That's why I always say Golden State's gonna be scary,
you know what I mean. Golden State's gonna be Houston
may be scary because coaching.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
What's the last name, Adoka.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
He has that championship experience, you know what I mean.
So it's like coaches play a huge role. Coaches with
experience play a huge role. We're keeping the guys in
check going into the playoffs and adjusting on the fly.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Moving on to the next segment, though, we're talking about
you said that Golden State is going to be scary,
So I want to ask you about give me your
top five NBA contenders right now who have an opportunity
to win the championship.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
And this is and this is my order. Okay, We're
going to go with Boston.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
That's one.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Okay, see Cleveland, Okay, Golden State in Denver.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Mmm, Okay, I I got similar, you know, I got
Okay see one, Boston to Cleveland, three, Golden State four,
and I got the Lakers at five.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Well, you know, if Lakers, if Golden State does what
they do at three thirty because three thirty is the
time tonight today, because everybody's playing in the West. You
know what I mean, right now five thirty six o'clock,
we're gonna know where everybody stands.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
But I think and Draymond Green might win defensive play.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
The Golden State gonna beat Clippers today, which means.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
That's the tough which it means is everybody playing. This
is a question.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Everybody has to play.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
This is so this game has to deal with your ranking. Well, Houston,
their guys didn't play on Friday because they already they're
already submit already locked in. Okay, they're already locked in.
At the end of the day.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
If Lakers end up meeting Golden State.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
I want to see that first round matchup.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
Deuce is king, Nakers are done. Let them try and
go small ball? Please please, who they're going to try
and pick on on the small ball?
Speaker 3 (15:47):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (15:47):
When Draymond played the five and you got Butler there, Bro,
Jimmy Buckets playoff.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Jimmy told you that already.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Bro.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
You'll see you already know what Steph does. Oh My
and Steve Crety knows his team. I'm just saying, man,
Golden States can be scary.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Bro. Okay, anyways, let's move along. Let's talk about I
know we talked about Draymond Green, we mentioned Dylan Brooks,
you mentioned Ja Moran. Those guys, A lot of those
guys have been in the headlines for a lot of
off the court issues. You know. Obviously John Morant, you
(16:23):
know he has the celebration you know where he throws
name We're dope. It is actually actually like that. Super
guys that are being petty with jah Oh saying he's
throwing the grenade in the crowd.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
You know how many innocent civilians are.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
In the crowd. Stop stop stop stop stop stop stop
stop stop.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
So I see all the kids a you junior, e
y b all is going on right now, shout out
locked and I see you guys doing your thing yo,
fam and can ely bro the kids are doing it
right now.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
It looks like that is one of the I didn't,
I didn't, I don't. The one I hate the most
is in the Vein ship. But that is classic ship
drives me. I hate that classic shadow. I hate that ship.
So I want to ask you guys, what is the
best celebration after shot in the NBA that you've seen
who you know, we have like we said, we have
(17:14):
step go to sleep with.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
That's classic.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
That's to go to sleep bridges with you know with
the you know.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
The situation that you got.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Job with the grenade, trade with the you know with
the ice tray, uh and then you got d lo
with the ice in your vein the whole things grenade.
Apparently he's saying he's blocking up the noise.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
So he's throwing off, throwing off the garbage, throwing.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Out the garbage, and then he boss up the noise.
That's what he says. He's lying.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
We know the grenades like that he's doing that.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
I like, what does that mean? You're pulling the pin
from the grenade and spinning it and throwing it.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
I like that cover, but like good cover, but like
like that cover.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
But what what do you think is the best celebration
after jump shot in the NBA?
Speaker 4 (17:55):
The best celebration, Man, it's all about timing right as well.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
And I go to sleep. That goes hard, you know
what I mean?
Speaker 5 (18:04):
Because it's like you hit a three rockaby that is
that is to that rock A baby is like, I like,
that's super disrespectful.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
But you're too little little boy.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
I don't like that.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Still because the small guards always get that ship. I
hate that ship, to tell you the truth, you know
what I mean. I do like that stuff one though.
That stuff stuff though, because because Steph has done it
in some clutch stuff do it exactly with the Olympics.
When he did the Olympic, I was pissed. And he's
doing this the whole world. I noticed, like everybody's going
to be oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, yes yes, and
(18:42):
people try to mock him and do it, but it's
just not the same Beasley a little shimmy.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
That ship was funny though, when when when when you're
blocking he ain't like that ship and then and then
trying to get out gangs like if you don't know him,
like you're.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Not you were here a few years ago, sir, you
were not. But who who you're gonna go with? You're
gonna go with.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
I'm gonna go with Steph, man, I'm gonna go Steph.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
I like stuph I like stuff, man, but I don't know, man,
that is tough. That's tough. That's tough. I think I'm
I think I'm a rock with stuff too, man, I
think I'm a rock with stuff too.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
But a hard second control out the Lakers is job Moran. Man,
that grenade I never gade is tough and you and
you cut your ear.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Oh my god, you just dropped the grenade on.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Yeah. I like that bombs. He's hitting bombs. I think, yeah, yeah,
I think I'm gonna go. I don't really like the
shooting and I hate I hate the ice in your
vein ship. It drives me crazy because now you had
all the Lakers doing and ship. When was there and
they hit one three, they never hit a three and
four or five games and doing that ship, it was
just drive me crazy, like get the hell out of
(19:57):
here with that ship.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Was cold like the.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Broken team when he was All Star All Star Dalo Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then we brought to the Lakers. We had then
a shoulder doing this ship. I was like, listen, man,
don't come to Toronto with that bullshit.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
Yeah no, and you know who are a classic one
And he didn't. He got entered into the Hall of Fame.
Carmelo Anthony, Yeah yeah, Anthony. That that that that went viral. Yes, yes,
in the in the Olympics.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Yeah, yes, okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Curry.
I like Curry man, because it's like, it's so crazy
at certain times of the game, clutch times of the
game when you hit a shot best like go to bed.
I like that one. So talk to us in the comments, man,
let us know what is the best celebration after jump shot?
Talked to us in the comments. I want to move
(20:52):
along to NBA villains again. We're talking about John Morant,
Dylan Brooks, all these guys, and I want to ask you, uh,
who are your top five villains in the NBA two
day because we got a bunch of villains. You know,
we got Vernon Max Well Mad Max. You know, you
got Charles Barkley, guys who you know he didn't never
(21:12):
want to be.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
I would like to pay homage from a history standpoint.
We didn't mention history at the beginning. Dennis Rodman. Dennis Rodman.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Dennis Rodman to.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Me, he's the reason, one of the main reasons they
secured those three chips because if you look at it,
they played Seattle and Sean Kemp.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Yes, they played YouTube twice that Karl Malone really and truly,
if you were to look on paper skill for skill,
that four spot should have should have went to the opposition,
because I was a Bulls fan and I was like, ship.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Who's gonna guard Sean Kemp, Who's gonna guard Karl Malone?
Speaker 3 (21:48):
Right?
Speaker 4 (21:49):
And and what Dennis Rodman did it. He may have
not have slowed them down statistically, but.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
He was like gold Dust.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
You remember, he made them work.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Remember in wrestling old Dust when I was a kid,
gold just used to scare the ship out of me,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
He used to do.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Used to play with your head, bro the league, you
know what I mean. But there were some moments in
those games, timely moments when Seattle or Utah had a
chance to really take over the game and really shock
the world by beating the Bulls. Rodman came in with
some Shenanigans.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
And and one of the years, I can't remember which year,
Dennis my I mean, Carmelo was MVP, so that had
hell of it. They had those teams, That's what I'm saying.
But Rodman used to feel you up, fondle you a bit,
and stare at you right, no, no, no, like to
me ultimate villain right there, that's the ultimate.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Villain because he was winning, he was taking chips, you
know what I mean. So I'm from a history standpoint,
I'm gonna go with Rodman. But right now, fans.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Top five villains in the NBA to date, my top five,
my top five, Okay, I'll go while you get your
top five villains in the NBA today. I'm gonna go
with Lebron James. He is he is. You know what,
Sometimes Lebron James can't get out of his own way, right,
Like I don't believe he is a bad person or
(23:15):
I don't even think he wants to be a villain,
but I think just the things that he says and
the things that he does, and just a he's always
there and he's always talked about. Now, I don't think
it's hate, right. I think the way he left and went,
you know, from Cleveland to Miami, that's when everything started
for him to be a villain. I think if he
stayed in Cleveland all these years, I think he could
(23:36):
be beloved. Right. So it's just like same thing with
Kevin Durant and Kevin Durant's on my list to Kevin Durant.
The same thing when he left OKAC. Before that, he
was beloved. Remember he won the MVP. He was, you know,
shotting out his teammates and trying and mom, you're the
real MVP and all that shit. Right, they all loved him.
What happened when he went to Golden State, right, you know,
(23:59):
they started one of the most hated They start talking
about everything with him, you know, and he can't win,
which he hasn't. But I'm gonna go with Draymond Green.
And we all know what Draymond Green is. Man. He
he's out there wrestling with people. He got so much
technicals it's crazy. You know, he costs Golden State the championship.
He did, you know, I forget your twenties. What is it,
(24:22):
twenty sixteen, twenty twenty sixteen. Yeah, he fregaking kicks or
whatever he does to Lebron James, even though he shouldn't
have been suspended. But still he can't get out of
his own way, right, mouth is crazy. He talks the
most just very disrespectful. On the court. He's out there hitting,
He's out there doing the Steph Curry celebration after he
hits one three out of like seventeen tries. Right, but
(24:44):
it's at a cutch moment, right, So I got him.
I got Westbrook, right like, and that's trade where Westbrook goes.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
But before that, remember.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
When Batman when he's won two Face said or joker,
I forgot who said it. But you become your You're
a hero until you become a villain. When when when Garnett,
I mean when Katie left. Okay, see, he was the
ultimate hero.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
And then he became m VP and all that stuff.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
But then went to Washington and then the other five
teams becomes a villain.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
That's crazy. But I got I got Westbrook. Obviously, he
goes to all these teams and you know he's always
the guy and the reason why they lose. So he
goes to Washington. You know, it does well. Whatever goes
to the Lakers, it's his fault, you know.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Even though it wasn't.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
But yeah, he was his fault noice in Denver. You know,
the coaches favored him, his fault, right, they call him
west Brook. He's ready to crash out on people, He
ready to fight, right. So, and then I got John Moran,
you know, fearless attitude. This guy can't stand his own
way he comes to the games of the pou Shisty's,
he's stung grenades in the crowd. He's firing rifles and
(26:01):
ship like you know. So you know, he's becoming the
guy where we're overlooking his actual talent and we're looking
at the off court antics and like, nigga, shut up, right.
So that that's my five. That's my my five.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
My five are a little bit more role player ish.
The theme.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
I got some superstars in it. I got some stars
in it. But anyway, I got Isaiah Stewart from Detroit.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Oh you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
They may shot the next I think they may shot that,
I think, right, but I got Isaiah Stewart. He's fighting everybody.
But I think that's that's the that's the cloth, that's
the culture of Detroit.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Right, yes, yes, And I think the moment he became
the villain is when Lebron James hit him in the
face and the blood was leaking and he found out
he was bleeding. He's trying to run to get heart.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
But he may he may play for Jamaica's national team
with Norman.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
You never know, don't know.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
I mean a Vibes Cartell, you know that concert two
days in Brooklyn.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Shut it down.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
But anyway, you need to come to Toronto, you know
what I mean. You need to bring that ship to Toronto.
Dylan Brooks okay, uh, Draymond Green. I got Halliburton man
and he and he and he's a and he's a wrestler,
you know what I mean. So he brings that wrestling
bad guy provado, that heel type of mentality to the NBA.
I think I've seen Tim Hardaway just want to come
(27:26):
out of retirement just to.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Fight the man, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
So you know, the man gets in your head, bro,
you know, then to a lot of guys, and I
see how he does, and I see how he gets
with the Knicks and and and Milwaukee.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
So it's always a good series.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
And I don't like him. He comes clubs man, he
puts everybody. I notice why he was selected on that
USA team. He talks when he's up. I don't like that.
I don't like that ship talk when you're down and
saying yes, it's easy to talk.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
They had the baseball bat tell him a man, bj Armstrong,
I remember that.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Come on.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
And lastly, I'm gonna go with.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Jayleen Brown and I think that's just more from a
woke standpoint. I seen him on a podcast day us
A Team Nike, the n B A, you know what
I mean. He's still talking about creating a Black Wall Street,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
And lastly I heard him praising Shade for not having
an agent.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
An agent he represents himself as well, So he's onto
something in regards to maybe guys should start doing a
little bit more homework or coming to him for advice
on representing themselves, you know what I mean. So I
look at you, as you know, from an NBA standpoint,
that's that's very villain.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
That's some villain ship right there.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Isaiah Stewart, Dylan Brooks, Draymond Green, No, no, yeah, Draymond Green,
Tyres Haliburton, Jalen.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Brown, mine Is Lebron, James Draymond Green, Russell Westbrook trying
to say that five times fast. Kevin Durant and John Rant.
Talk to us in the comments. Let us know your
top five villains in the NBA to day talk to
us in the comments. But I'm moving along. We're on
the same theme as talking about villains, and I want
to do this. This is Canada watch Canadian Watch. I
(29:16):
always want to talk about one of our Canadians were
doing well in the NBA, and this week's we gotta
talk abou Dylan Brooks. Dylan Brooks and the question I
have for you and everybody else, was Dylan Brooks the
most important player when he played for Memphis Grizzlies And
before we go, before you answer that, uh, the villain
(29:37):
who became the heartbeat of Memphis. He was the heartbeat
you know they again when when when they lost, he
was the scapegoat and the reason why they lost. We
had guys like Shaquillo who came out publicly and other
players were saying that this guy will never play in
the NBA again. Why. I don't even think it was
more and so of his bad play. I think it
was more so of just because he was getting into
(30:00):
a trash talking battle with Lebron James. Right. I want
to talk about Memphis. I want to talk about Dylan Brooks.
To most fans, Dylan Brooks is a villain. He's the
villain right, one hundred percent, he is the villain trash
talk Dylan. Dylan the villain right, trash talker, the guy
gets under your skin, plays with a chip on his shoulder.
(30:22):
All of those things that he has is what Memphis
stands by the grindhouse, right, and they let him go.
And when they let him go, I'm talking about defensive ratings.
Let's talk about defensive ratings with Memphis. Memphis defensive rating
right now is one hundred and twelve point eight to
(30:43):
twelve without Dylan Brooks right now forty seven and thirty four.
I believe the record is right now and they are
fighting for their lives in the play the plane right
this year, we're going to talk about. Houston's defensive rating
is at one hundred and ten. They are fourth in
the league. Fourth, just pay attention, fourth. They cleanched the
(31:08):
second place seed in the West. Second place. We're talking
about Houston. Young Houston, Young Houston. Their fourth. Their defensive
rating is fourth, their second. The record is fifty two
and twenty nine. Clinch the second they clinched the second.
(31:30):
And again, he might not be a star, he might
not be an NBA star, but guess what he is.
He is the glue to the team. And he was
a glue to Memphis, and I think it was wrong
how they did him. Like this year, he's shooting at
an all time high three. We'll go to offense. Now
we did defense, We'll go to offense. Right now, he's
averaging fourteen, he's averaging fourteen. Fourteen, sorry, fourteen. Yeah, let's
(31:58):
mooneen three and and and to assist. Right now, he's
shooting thirty nine percent from three thirty nine, which is
his best year.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
I would say forty. It's thirty nine point seven. Okay,
let's do forty. Let's do forty.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
But he's shooting forty percent if you look down in
all of his years in the NBA, all years, and
this is his highest percentage that he's shooting from three.
He has the most rebounds he ever had in all
of his years playing in the league. So we got
a shout out to Tindale forgetting that jump shot.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Happy belated, my boy.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
Yeah. So my question was Dylan Brooks the most important
player to Memphis the Grindhouse. That's my question for you, guys,
my question for you. I think I think he was
one of the most important players.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
Like I said, you got rid of a whole coaching
staff basic with Dylan Brooks, you know what I mean.
Of course, that's that's just a recipe for disaster, you know,
and they kind of on the Memphis side, they kind
of used them as a scapegoat.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Yes, the writing was on the roll. You were calling
out John Morant from two episodes ago, I mean two seasons. Yeah,
you feel me?
Speaker 4 (33:15):
What is antics? And they kind of utilized which was
very messed up. They utilized they used Dylan Brooks as
a scapegoat. But the last six years that he was
there with the Grizzlies, you know, he was only averaging
fourteen point five three point one rebounds.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
Get a couple years we averaged eighteen I'm believed eighteen.
But like you said, you were shooting shot only thirty
four percent from the three actually guarding the best players
every single night, every single night, night and night. And
that's what I think an issue is with Memphis this
year as far as who guards perimeter guys, Yeah, Bane
and you have joh Jah is not the greatest defender,
(33:54):
he's not. And Dylan Brooks, Yes, you have Jaron Jackson,
who is the clean up man. Yeah, he's the cleanup man.
Have Zach Edy, both Phoenix guys, rebound and rim protectors, right,
but who but who do you have to contain? And
that was Dylan Brooks. Brooks again. They tried with Marcus Smart.
He was always you know, he wasn't healthy ever, and
it just didn't work. That got rid of him. So
(34:15):
who was that guy? Baines is not that guy? You know?
It just fit perfect? Did it fit perfect for Dylan
Brooks to be there? And he what he represents is
what Memphis is, the grindhouse.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
And the crazy thing.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
People are laughing at Houston for when Houston signed Fred
Van Vliet to that big contract, when they picked up
Dylan Brooks, they picked up you know what I mean,
they were laughing. Now who's laughing? You got Dylan Brooks.
You got a mean time like those the mean those
the mean brothers, the twins. Yeah, amen and a sore
(34:46):
and right, look what they're doing in Detroit and look
what they're doing in Houston.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
You know what I mean? That athletics, that that effect
is real.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
And you mixed that with with Adokah's He's he's a Modulese.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
He's kind of upstairs like because he wants to smoke
like he's still a player.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
I see him, I see him getting at it with Steph,
see him get it at it with leron be ready
to fight.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
You mixed that with Fred van Vliet's mentality with a
meet with one of the Thompson brothers, Thompson twins, Thompson
Twins and Dylan Brooks. Come on, Bro, that's a recipe
for success. I still don't have contender, but they're scary.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
They could. They can shot in the world. With shng Goon,
I just don't think they have that that superstar. And
with Jayalen Green. I think that if they can trade
Jalen Green and maybe some picks to get a bona
fide star, like maybe they should trade Jalen Green and
bringing Kad. I don't know. I don't know, but I
(35:50):
think a lot. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
I think a lot of these young teams and teams
in general need more vets.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
Bro. Yeah, well we'll need more vets. Well, your boys
a vet Fred, he he has and he has experience
exactly obviously winning a championship with the Raptors twenty nineteen.
Let's get it, you are.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
Vets in the locker room instead of these vet women
that you guys are picking up, These women that are
older than you.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
By countless numbers. You know what I mean? Really, and
truly those are the new locker room vets.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
We got to switch that up, though, you gotta switch
that up.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Let's switch it up. But again, talk to us in
the comments. Let us know what was Dylan Brooks, Memphis,
Grizzy's most important player, talked to us in the comments.
Let's let's move along. So again, Luther video. We're moving
on to hip hop. Luther video came out, and what
is your thoughts right away when you see this video?
(36:43):
I watched it every time I watched Luther the video. Yeah,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Disclaimer, You know what I mean, full disclaimer.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
I like the video, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
But the reason why I like the video The Wood.
The Wood was my favorite movie non basketball. Just move
it a watch. I could watch that eighty five million times.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
The Wood.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
And there's a scene where Mike and Alicia. You know,
Mike had came from North Carolina, moved to Inglewood. He
likes Alicia, you know what I mean. He finds out
Luther vandros If this world was mine?
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Track was the track? School dance was happening popped in
the Tic tac. She's brushing off Man's when that song
came on.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
But when Mike asked her, you know what I mean,
she gave him the bubble and it wasn't a real
Toronto daggering. He was face to face arresting each other,
like you know what I mean. And in the Luther
video they kind of did that, you know what I mean.
So the video is tough. It brought back memories for
(37:50):
me in regards to bringing bat memories about the wood.
But yeah, I see what he's doing. I noticed that
he got.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
I forgot the Preimum screena Evans from Toronto. She's done
God's plan nice for what in my feelings, So she's
done a lot of Drake's videos. Yeah, we're not rocking
with you anyway. But the video to me is just lackless.
It's lackless. It's boring. Like I like the song don't
(38:21):
Get It Twisted. I like that song. Luther is a
very good song, but I don't think that's video worthy. Like,
I don't think that song is video. He has other
songs on me and Next that I think would be
better suited for videos. I just think I'm never I'm
not watching that video again. I'm just being on school dances,
you know. I'm watching the last last five minutes, the
(38:42):
last twenty minutes of a school dance.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
It's cool, that's that's that's the time you find your
shorty and just yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
But I want but that type of vibe.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
Man. But one thing that I do want to say,
as far as it's like gn X has been out
for quite some time now, right, and no, Kia is
going crazy the Nokia video right, similar styles, black and white.
It's going crazy. And people feel like by Drake dropping
that music video, it's helping it on the charts top
(39:14):
one hundred charts and it's helping it catapult to you know,
the top right now it's number two, and people felt
like Kendrick was like, shit, I gotta do something. I
don't want this got to be throwing me at number one.
Let me come out and drop this music video. And
in boom, here we come with the Luthor with the
Luther video. Right. I don't know how true it is,
(39:35):
but I know that bitch is that like ten million
views already stop botting my guy, just stop, yo. The
box is crazy, Like I got at.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
Question, I got a question like this whole Kendrick Drake beef.
You know what I mean, It's gonna be forever. It's
kind of bringing me to you know, fifty versus Jah.
But a lot of people try to say Drake is Jah.
You know, they're like, feel like Drake is fifty Hendricks job,
(40:03):
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
But I want to know what everybody else thinks. Do
you see the similarities?
Speaker 3 (40:09):
I can't see it. You can't see it, nah, because
once once like Kendrick's still rolling, and again Drake is
still you know, Drake is not dead like he has.
He has a number one records. His album is still
like top five on Apple Music. I think it's the
song is number one on Apple, number one on Spotify Global.
So it's like he's still No one died like John,
(40:31):
Like once fifty killed him, it was over. He couldn't
he couldn't come back with nothing. And I think he
made a few of the wrong moves trying to start
sound street and things like that. But my question to
you and everybody else, which video do you think is better?
Because now this is not a complete hip hop record.
(40:53):
This Nick Kendrick is singing, he got the melodies. I
told you I like Kendrick better with the melodies, right,
so who has the better video? No Kia or Luther?
Talk to us in the comments, what is your thoughts?
Speaker 2 (41:06):
No Kia, baby girl? Hey taught to us in the comments.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
Let us know, man, But I want to I want
to say a few things before we go, Uh, Drake,
you know they're gonna say we're glazing and all this
other stuff whatever.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
But you guys don't glaze for lebron.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
But but we can't state facts. We can't. We just
can't state the facts right. In fact, Drake becomes the
first artist in history to surpass five hundred million r
i a A certified units across the album singles and features.
That's one h Drake has surpassed the Beatles on Billboard records. Anyways,
(41:46):
He but they said he was a corpse, He said
he was dead. They said it was not era, right,
I don't. It still looks like it's Drake's error to me.
I don't know. You know, guys have a moment as
he should, you know, Kendrick, you know he's fired, right,
should have a moment, right, But when we're talking about
the era, what is an era? Is it ten fifteen years?
I don't know, you know, a decade is ten years.
(42:07):
It was an era. Like when you say that era,
you can't say. You can't say it's his era. When
he has a moment, that's a moment, all right. So
before we go any any things, and I know, I
know Baka had an interview, you know, you know, talking
about you know, I guess Drake gave him the the
(42:29):
go ahead to have this interview. I don't know how
it went, but he said that he was going to respond.
First thing he was going to do. But he's going
to respond, and you know, but it went crazy because
he didn't actually he didn't actually talk about the weird case. Right.
People felt like he went to jail for thirteen or
fourteen years or whatever for you know, a weird case
with the sexual assault stuff was.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
Far from the truth.
Speaker 3 (42:50):
It wasn't. It was more it was you know, murder. Right.
Speaker 4 (42:54):
So but I like how Baca just let it be known, Like, yo,
if you really want to do your re search, which
the internet will do, you'll see the truth come out,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
So he just fell back. That was smart on his part,
you know what I.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
Mean, say too much?
Speaker 2 (43:10):
Yeah, gave it a little just hold that, do your research.
Speaker 3 (43:13):
Yeah, that's what I got from that.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
But Hoop Summit just passed man, Team A Savors the World.
Very good game, shadow ag the Bond staff.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
You know what I mean. He went off.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
He went off. Man. He had he had twenty four
you know what I mean. He could have had more.
He went scoreless in the second quarter, but you know,
the guys got to get there.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
Is I get pro game and had like twenty something
in fifteen sixteen rebounds. I guess he has a record
in the Hoop Summit as far as rebounds.
Speaker 4 (43:43):
He went off, right, So you got you a Savors
the World. I think that theme should carry on into
the NBA as well during All Star weekend. But one
thing I noticed that Kyane Anthony was playing for Team
Puerto Ricot.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
You know what I mean. Trevor Reeze's son with Japan,
and you had another young man. He's from California. He
was with Benin and those guys both. He played in
the Donald's All American Game. He's the top scorer in
California history. I forget. His name is a ZOOI it's
an interesting name, but he's he's going to bail or
heat tough. He's tough.
Speaker 4 (44:19):
But at the end, what I'm what I what I
what I like to bring up is a lot of
these players that are American born, but their parents are
from other countries.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
They're playing for those other countries.
Speaker 4 (44:31):
So I can't I see you see Norman Powell, you know,
committing to Jamaica. There's gonna be a lot more guys
committing to Jamaica. There'll probably be a lot of Canadians
that have that are born out, that are that have
lineage in other countries probably play for that, you know,
because team Canada's booked, USA is booked.
Speaker 3 (44:49):
I played for junior national Jamaican team. I also had
my uh Nigerian passport as well, so.
Speaker 4 (44:57):
That's what I'm saying. So that could be another route
for the Hoopers. And it was kind of dope to see,
you know what I mean. But yeah, that's it, man.
Just continue to support, you know what I mean. Hit
that light button on all social media platforms, hit that
notification button, tell a friend to tell a friend share it,
and YO, we're just gonna keep working, man, We're gonna
keep working, man. Shoot shout out Title League.
Speaker 3 (45:19):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (45:19):
You gotta do your thing all day, every day. Man,
let's get it, let's do it.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
We're out.
