Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey there, everybody. Welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ.
It's Thursday, December eleventh, and we are Rocking and Roland
on our holiday gift guide.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
We are up to gift number nine.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
We're hoping that these holiday gift ideas might spark at
least some ideas or help you check off or check
out some gifts for folks you're trying to figure out.
Today's gift is for the athletic enthusiast.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
If she's a woman. Only if she's a woman.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
I did look on this website and I only see
women modeling these clothes.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
It's okay, it's fine.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
This is a female friendly gift guide. This is actually,
if you think about it, this gift guide is for
the men. Because this is for the men choosing gifts
for their the women in their lives.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Its correct, Male friendly gift guide. Is this a female
friendly podcast? Though? Is that what we are? Because we
talking to women about gifts they want for themselves instead
of talking to men about the gifts they should give
women in their lives.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
That great?

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Yes, So men aren't hearing this right now? Welcome me.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Well, the women could be whispering in the men's ears. Also,
I have to buy gifts for you know, lots of women.
So yes, it's just women supporting women in general, and
we love having men contributed to that.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Do you know what this is how we could expand
our listenership is by all the women listening. Go whisper
in your guy's ear. Hey, you should check out this podcast.
It's awesome, especially their gift guide.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Take a listen, especially to gift number nine.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
So gift number nine is Newport Knitz Sweaters. So they
send a Georgia Bulldogs sweater understandably so, so it's very cool.
You can show off your basically your college even some
high school spirit.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Hold up, go back to the understandably So, no, they
don't make the Arkansas sweater. Now, when we first were
doing this, are users reached out and said what sizes
do you all wear? And they were confirming the schools, Georgia, Arkansas.
But then what shows up just the Georgia sweater, no
Arkansas sweater. Okay, you get this. So this is my
beef with the company already. I'm not going to recommend

(02:14):
this product. I don't care what because I know I
saw the update, but it's after the fact.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
But maybe you spurred the update, which is really cool.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
So we got a note from our producers that said this,
and I'm going to read the note exactly. Arkansas razorback
sweaters are currently not available, but Newport Knits is actively
expanding their inventory. Our producers reached out to the brand
and we're told that style will be added soon. I
can report as of this morning, on Thursday, December tenth,
of December eleventh, there is now an Arkansas Razorbacks sweater.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
So if Tish isn't listening, yes, but.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Now your mom, Tish, I can smell a Christmas present.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
You know what you can spell. I don't forget easily.
The company upset me at the very beginning by not
having a razorback sweater available. I don't know when I'm
going to let.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
That go, but I actually think that's pretty cool that
they listened, responded, and now there is one available.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
That's actually extra cool.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Just a coincidence. We tell peop about this sweater. Please
get this over with company.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I don't like DAP, that's not no. This is a
classic one Cotton crew next sweater. It features the logo
of your school in the sweater that they sent us
it's got a big old G on the front and
a go dogs along a varsity striped detail on the back.
It's really nice. I have to say it's a it's
a lightweight. It's cotton, so it doesn't itch. And I

(03:39):
know sometimes especially US SEC lovers, go to games when
it's kind of hot outside.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
This really is lightweight and breathable.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
So if it's cold, you could wear a long sleeve
shirt underneath it if it's if it's a warmer day,
I really think it's breezy. It's kind of a relaxed fit,
so that is kind of cool. You always have to
think about where you're sitting in the stands and how
hot it's going to be.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
So I actually appreciated this.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
And they say Newport Nitz designs premium nitwear made for comfort,
style and everyday versatility. This is a company that was
founded just three years ago in twenty twenty two, and
it began with local schools spiritwar So they started out
with high schools, like their local high schools in California,
but now it's grown into they call it a leader

(04:23):
in elevated sustainable knit essentials.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
They have a commitment to sustainability.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
It includes recycled materials, restricted chemical standards, and community focused initiatives.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
So this is why this is again a brand.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
I went on their website where they really do teut
their environmentally friendly stance and the fact that they do
give back to local charities. So this is a company
that is entrenched in the community and is about providing comfortable,
fashionable sweaters with school spirit to women.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Do they give back to each other in Arkansas?

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Not that I saw. I don't know that they have
a focus in Arkansas. In fact, California, that's not shocking either.
They yes, they're school high school, but you can get
You can also ask and actually request a like a
specific the word I'm looking for a You can ask

(05:24):
them to do a specific design, a custom design. Thank
you couldn't think of the word custom. So they're open
to doing custom orders as well. So if they hadn't had,
if they hadn't responded so quickly and amazingly to your
Arkansas razorbacks request, you could have asked for one and
they would have accommodated you.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Wow, how long would it with enough time?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
I don't know. I can't answer that.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
By football season twenty twenty eight maybe.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
But the funny thing is that when you go onto
their new yeah by twenty twenty eight, Yes, no, I
would think it would be within a period of a
few weeks.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
That's what custom orders typically are.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
I can't speak for the company, but when you go
on to Newport Knits, Arkansas is the second to last
you see, Davis is the last. So I don't know
if they put it in the order they made it available,
but it kind of looks like it. So anyway, recently
Arkansas razorbacks featured in Newport Nets.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
You saw me put it on, what did you think?

Speaker 3 (06:19):
I didn't, you know, you know, my first impression was
just we wear a lot and we own a lot
of athletic gear. Right, so it looks the part. It
looks fine. I was more curious about how it felt
when you put it on. But it looks fine, looks cute,

(06:39):
But it kind of looks like a lot of stuff
I see from a Georgia bulldog standpoint. It does red
sweater with the gene.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
I think what I like about it is typically when
you have the Georgia stuff, it's either a T shirt
or it's a sweatshirt. This is kind of an elevated
look You could wear it with leather pants and it.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Looks the part. It's kind of like a loose loungey.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
It's a little bit of a boat neck crew neck,
which I like, which creates a cool look if you
want to put a tank top underneath it or a
little sports bra underneath it.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
What's a boat neck?

Speaker 1 (07:10):
A boat neck is basically an elongated crew neck, so
it it kind of mimics the shape of a boat
around your neck.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Man normally wears I know, no, no, I did. I've
heard the term, but I couldn't define it if I
needed to do.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
I just laughed out loud thinking about a man wearing
a boat neck sweater.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Do I have one? A boat neck shirt of any kind?
I don't know. I would.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
I would start laughing if you wore it.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
I never recognized or realized that boat necks are essentially
like they're female.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
It's a female design. I think I shouldn't.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Maybe men out there love boat necks, and I'm going
to get railed for it, But I cannot imagine you
in a boat neck shirt or sweat when.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
You go out with me and Charles and the fellas.
Do any of the fellas s my dudes? Any of
us wearing boat necks.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
No, seriously, I wouldn't know, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I mean I think like a man who likes a
mesh shirt or a mesh sweater might like a boat neck.
That would be like the type of man who would
like a.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Boat neck, said, we can see that.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Actually, if Harry styles kind of a guy, he probably
has a boat neck sweater. Yes, but they say crew neck,
but it definitely felt a little bit more like a
boat neck for me anyway.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
I actually really.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Did like its breeziness, the feel of the cotton, and
the fact that you could pretty much wear it in
all weather. And they gave me the red with the
g but I actually saw online they have a white one.
I like that even better. So they and for certain
really popular universities, they have multiple options, not just sweaters.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
They have t shirts as well.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
So it looks like right now Razorbacks just has the sweater,
but I'm sure more items are in.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Com key chains next.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Maybe all right, when we come back, we're gonna tell
you where you can buy it, how much this sweat is,
and we'll give you a look ahead to tomorrow's gift.

(09:13):
Welcome back to our holiday gift guide. We are at
gift number nine on this Thursday, and we're talking Newport
Knits sweaters. It is a way to show some fandom,
some support for your team, whether it's a college team,
maybe even a high school team. Maybe you'd like to
have a custom sweater to celebrate whatever organization you're supporting.

(09:37):
But it's a brand out of California, two women who
started it. It's a relatively new company. It's just three
years old. And the price it's a little pricey, I
have to say, a lot more than you would pay
for probably a hoodie.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Well I've been guessing these, yes, so keeping continue with
your clues.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Though more than a hoodie. I didn't check to see
how much the T shirts are. I'll have to check this.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
But this particular sweater they gave us, or they gave me,
is you can tell.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
It's a higher quality. It's a tight cotton.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
It's not gonna itch you, it's gonna it feels nice on.
It's lightweight, it's breezy, and it's stylish because it's got
that kind of relaxed fit to it.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
All right, let me go with one nineteen ninety nine.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Okay, you're close. It's one hundred and thirty dollars. Do
you think that's a little pricey for.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Any sweater, any sweater. Yeah, but looking at it, when
I see a price like that, I need to see
a product that wows me a little more. I'm not
it's a good looking sweater. Yeah, I'm not criticized. And
again I've been having fun with him about the Arkansas thing.
I understand Arkansas might not be the most prominent football
team in the country right now, but but no, it's
a good looking sweater. The price is that's a that's

(10:48):
an expensive sweat.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
It's it's an investment, I would say.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
And if you do have somebody like me who loves
college football, loves your alma mater, this is a fun sweater.
I can see this looking really cute with a pair
of white jeans, a pair of black leather pants, even
cut off jean shorts, so you can you can dress
it up or dress it down.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
You could wear a skirt with it.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
I do like the versatility of it, and again I
think I would actually prefer it in white.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
I think that would be cool. But I like the
back of it too. Did you see that I was.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Going to mention it does have a unique back. It
kind of what has the bulldogs running down the middle
across the side, and it has almost looked like a
racing stripe along right down the center and then on
the left sleeve a black and white racing stripe. So
that adds a little detail. That is cool. I would
say the back of it adds more detail. It makes
it more unique than the front of it.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Yes, the back of it absolutely is unique and all
of would you say, I can't say the boat neck
thing again, that's a boat neck. It's a it's a
crew neck. No, but it's wide. See that's a white accident. No, no, no,
that's a wide crew neck. Otherwise they call it a
crew neck.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
But I always I wanted to point it out because
I think a lot of women are like me. I
don't like the way a crew neck looks on me.
There's just something about it. It looks masculine to me,
and so every time I put on it. No, they
have a lot of crew neck t shirts and long
sleeve shirts, and every time I put one on, I
have to remind myself, I don't like the way this
looks like.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
I don't walk down the street and see a lot
of women wearing crew neck yet, right, it's v neck.
It's off the shoulder, or apparently this new thing called
a boat neck that's all the rage now.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
But this is absolutely a boat neck crew neck that
is way wider.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
And I do, I really do like, I will I
will wear this. I will wear this to a Georgia game.
And I again the back school and all of the
different colleges, they all have that kind of racing stripe
down the back whatever your school colors are. Yeah, and
then they say, actually, let me look up the Arkansas
one because it's pretty, and they have the back of it.
Hold on, I'm going to get to it. It's all

(12:49):
the way on the last page. So it's it's a
pretty sweater.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
It's uh. I actually like it a lot.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
They just have Arkansas on the front, two white stripes
on the back, and then the back.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Of it says.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Hogs and then it's God. But it's just burgundy and white.
You guys don't have another color, right, we're red and black.
And then I guess they just added the white. Yeah,
you guys just have two colors. But I would like
that in white with the burgundy reverse too. Would you
consider purchasing this for the women in your life.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Consider yes, But I think it really is the price
I'll get hung up on because I have so many
options for Arkansas apparel, right, there are so many places
you can go for college stuff. You look at this
and you want to say, well, how can this be
better or different or something like you hadn't seen, and
they arcue they are very very good looking sweaters. They
absolutely are, all right.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
I agree.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
So I think that if you've got a woman in
your life who loves to support her team, this is
a good, good gift. It's again one hundred and thirty bucks.
You can go to Newport knits dot com. So that's
n E W P O R T knits dot com
and whether I think they pretty much have every single

(14:02):
college out there, so that is a good one to
check out.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Now they're adding more every day apparently.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
All Right, tomorrow, tomorrow, babe, this is finally a gift
that was meant for you, and I cannot wait to
try this out. We're gonna try this out tonight. But
here is the teas for tomorrow's gift. Say good night
to your phone and hello to deeper sleep.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Goodbye to your phone and Hello to deeper sleep. You
think this is for me because my phone is the
issue with my sleep.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
It's just one way to try and promote deeper sleep,
which we talk about all the time.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Did you wear your URR ring last night?

Speaker 1 (14:43):
No?

Speaker 3 (14:44):
I did not.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
So your issue a lot of times isn't even the
amount of sleep you get.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
It's how deep your sleep is or the ram sleep.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
So we know this because last year our gift guy,
we got Aura rings and so we've been tracking our sleep.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Yeah, and so this we have to try this out tonight.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
We will come back tomorrow and report about tomorrow's gift. No, no,
it's technology, So we will get to that tomorrow and
tomorrow's gift guide. But in the meantime, everyone, thank you
so much for listening to us. I'm Amy Roboch alongside TJ.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Holmes. Happy shopping everyone,
