Hunting for Answers is a production of the Black Effect
Podcast Network and iHeartRadio. Welcome to Hunting for Answers, a
true crime podcast. I'm your host, Hunter and today's episode
takes us into a hunting mystery that has chilled the
hearts of many for over a decade. A devoted mother,

(01:06):
a desperate search, and a case that remains unsolved to
this day. This is the story of LaTrece Armstead. It
was July twenty twelve, a day that began just like
any other for LaTrece, but by the end everything would
change forever. Her sister, Brenda, remembers LaTrece as a woman

(01:31):
whose heart was as big as her dream. She would
give anything for her family, no questions asked. At thirty eight,
LaTrece was the mother of two with a hope for
a fresh start, ready to escape the chaos of her past.
But as fate would have it, her dreams would soon

(01:52):
be overshadowed by tragedy. Latrice was seen twice that day
with her strange husband, Tony bled Soap, a man whose
presence was synonymous with pain, at least for LaTrece. Their marriage,
plagued by domestic violence, was in the throes of a
bitter divorce. Just weeks before her disappearance, Tony had assaulted

(02:17):
LaTrece so violently that he broke her jaw. As a result,
she had to have her jaw wired shut. Yet Latrese,
despite the bruises, the fear, and the scars, was determined
to break free. But before she could leave Memphis for
Saint Louis, where she hoped for a better future, she vanished.

(02:41):
Days later into the investigation, the searge took a dark turn.
Her black accurate TL was discovered, abandoned and burned beyond
recognition and the isolated feels of Clarksdale, Mississippi. LaTrece was
no stranger to Clarksdale, just an hour drive from Memphis
and only miles from her hometown of Frenshawn, Mississippi. It

(03:05):
was a place she knew well. But this was no
ordinary car accident. This was deliberate, a cruel attempt to
erase any trace of what happened that night. As investigators
scrambled to piece together the puzzle, all eyes turned to

(03:25):
Tony Bloodsoe. Witnesses reported seeing them together on the day
LaTrece disappeared, which was a violation of the order of
protection she had against him. Yet, despite the mounting evidence,
Ledsoe denied knowing where LaTrece was. He was arrested for
violating the protection order, but the silence around her disappearance continued.

(03:48):
No charges were ever filed, and no answers were ever given.
Lateresa's family could feel it. The pain of losing her
was un bearable, but the silence around her case was
even worse. Latrice had been a mother who checked in constantly,

(04:09):
who was always there for her children. When they couldn't
reach her that day, they knew something was terribly wrong.
They knew she wouldn't just vanish, but what happened to her?
As the months stretched into years, Lateresa's case grew cold.
The investigation was eventually moved into the cold case files

(04:33):
in Memphis. But for Lateresa's family, the search has never stopped.
They've continued holding on to hope that someone somewhere might
know something that could help bring Latrice back home. When
Latrice disappeared, she stood five foot four inches tall and

(04:53):
weighed between one hundred and fifty and one hundred and
sixty pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a gold tooth.
Her right lateral incisor LaTrece also had many tattoos, including
three bears on her left shoulder blade, a rosary on
her left arm, a blue rose on her right arm,
a panther on her leg and a heart on the

(05:14):
left side of her chest. She had very noticeable deep
set dimples in her cheeks and was also known to
go by the name Shay Theterce had diabetes and at
the time of her disappearance, her jaw was still wired shut.
My thoughts and prayers are with Literesa's family as they

(05:36):
continued to search for the truth. Anyone with information about
Lateresa's case should contact the Coahoma County Sheriff's Office or
their local authorities. Their contact information can be found in
the description box below. As we wrap up this episode,
