Hunting for Answers is a production of the Black Effect
Podcast Network and iHeartRadio. Welcome to Hunting for Answers, a
true crime podcast. I'm your host, Hunter, and today we
dive into the disturbing discip parents of a woman who
vanished one fateful night in nineteen ninety two, and she
(01:06):
was never seen again. This story centers around a dark
pattern of tragedy that would strike her family not once,
but twice. This is the story of Roseanne Pleasant. Roseanne's
life had unfortunately been one of pain and uncertainty. On
(01:27):
September twenty ninth, nineteen ninety two, she was last seen
at a corner store in Spokane, Washington. The last person
to see her alive her boyfriend, William Bradley Brad Jackson,
But what happened after that remains a mystery. Roseanne, caught
(01:48):
in the relentless grip of addiction, had been trying to
escape her turbulent life. Just days before vanishing, she confided
in her brother, expressing fear for her safety and contemplating
leaving with her three or four children. Unfortunately, those plans
would never happen. Suspicion quickly turned to her boyfriend, Brad Jackson,
(02:12):
an abuser with a dark pass. Domestic violence reports and
Roseanne's brother's own concerns painted a very troubling picture. Was
he responsible for her disappearance or did something else unfold
that night. Seven years later, in nineteen ninety nine, the
(02:33):
nightmare took an even more twisted turn. Roseanne's youngest daughter,
Valerie Brianna Jackson, disappeared under highly mysterious circumstances. The little
girl would later be found dead, and once again, the
man at the center of it all was Jackson. Was
(02:57):
this a coincidence or was a deadly pattern brewing. Jackson,
a construction worker, was awarded custody of Valerie after her birth.
He claims Valerie was playing outside when she disappeared, but
according to reports, the police were not convinced. They tracked
(03:20):
Jackson's every move and the evidence that surfaced was enough
to cast Jackson as the prime suspect. Eventually, authorities found
Valerie's burial site after following Jackson directly to it. As
investigators dug deeper into his past, a chilling pattern of
(03:41):
deceit and violence began to emerge. Jackson's refusal to cooperate
with investigators, his deflection of responsibility, and a startling confession
all sealed his fate. He admitted to killing his daughter,
but according to him, Valerie's death was an accident. He
(04:03):
claims she was taking a medication called paxel or behavioral problems,
and this led to an alleged overdose. He told investigators
he was so distressed by the situation he decided to
just cover up her death. But his actions and his
cover up speak to something far worse. Valerie was described
(04:28):
as a bright, sweet child who had been labeled a
problem and an obstacle in Jackson's path to a new
life with his girlfriend, Danette Stroeder. Authority speculate that Jackson
smothered his daughter to eliminate her and start fresh with Schroeder.
In two thousand, Jackson was convicted of Valerie's murder and
(04:50):
sentenced to fifty six years in prison. His conviction was
upheld in two thousand and three. And yet, through all
of this heartbreak, one haunting question still hangs in the balance.
Where is Roseanne pleasant? Did the same man who killed
(05:12):
his daughter also silence Roseanne? Her body was never found,
and no criminal charges were ever brought against Jackson for
her disappearance. Roseanne's brother believes her remains lie buried under
the foundation of a construction site Jackson once worked at.
When she vanished, Roseanne was five feet nine inches tall,
(05:35):
weighed one hundred and fifty pounds and had brown hair
and brown eyes. Her ears were pierced, and she typically
wore a size large in tops thirty four by thirty
pounds and a size nine and a half shoes. Roseanne
may also use the last names Stone or Jackson. Anyone
with information regarding Roseanne's case should contact the Spokane Police Department.
(06:00):
Their details can be found in the description box below.
