Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in again. Oh that's just you.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Gilmore Girls Gazette with Amy Sugarman and Danielle Romo an
iHeart radio podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Guys. It's like, it's crazy how much we have to
talk about. I know, is happy anniversary, Gilworker.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
I mean, we have so much to discuss. First of all,
for those that don't know, Danielle had a baby, Jackie
is here, Emma is here.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
And I must say, you guys, are.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
You guys are holme it down pretty well?

Speaker 1 (00:48):
We are? Yeah, Oh my goodness, that's good news to hear.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
We had a great time last week, and I think
we're gonna have a I know we're gonna have a
great time today.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
It's the perfect time to be a co host.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Oh my gosh. I hate the sound of my voice.

Speaker 5 (01:02):
And I originally want to be on air for my
broadcast journalism degree, and then when I watched myself in college,
I was like, Nope.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
First of all, never watch yourself. Never. There are times
when I'm like I look crazy, crazy and.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
I don't care, Like right now, I have my massage stick.
Oh which, by the way, guys, I know we're gonna
get to all the news and there's so much it's crazy,
but I got mine, so I use a slightly different
one from Jackie.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Now, Jackie, I notice you rocket and roll it. I press. Oh, okay,
just different style massages.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
So mine, I think is from Target and yours was
from Amazon. Yeah, Farricane, I did get that one too.
I'm going to try it. But the orange ball one.
Gotta love my orange balls.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Okay, let's get to it. Seriously.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
We're gonna talk about the anniversary, but I think first
I need to talk about the star. Let me say this.
I have never seen so many celebrities come out to
support someone getting a star. Ever, honestly, wow, Ever, Lauren
Graham is getting her star. Scott was there, which don't

(02:13):
miss in like a day or two. Scott's gonna give
all the behind the scenes so you're gonna want to
tune in for that episode that's coming soon. Scott was there,
Matt Aka Logan, Matt Zukri was there, yanniek Michelle was there.
Uh ke Kelly Bishop was there?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Then? Oh, I think Rose ab Do.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
I think I saw.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Gypsy there too.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
All right, then not only that, the Parenthood cast was there, Yes, yes,
so May Whitman was there. That Hunky Hunky Sam Jaeger.
Jaeger Jager was so good.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
I watched the ceremony, so I was doing Instagram photos
for my computer. I was logging watching the Street dot Com. Yeah,
so I was watching the stream.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Amy Sherman Palladino spoke at her ceremony, and then she's
best friends with that guy. I think his name is
Sam Pancake.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
I can't.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
I want to say Pancake, but I don't know if
that's just it is Pancakes, it is Sam pan Clearly
their best friends because he's everywhere with her and he
always like moderates her book stuff, and like they're obviously
best friends. So that is a massive star turnout in
my opinions.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
And when Amy Sherman Palladino spoke, it was very Laura.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
I ask like she had a speech, and she like,
I've written on her phone and then she like puts
her phone away, and it's like, yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
A little sidebar tidbit that I'd learned because Lauren said
it in one of her interviews. I didn't realize that
Amy Sherman Palladino did in fact write the gilmart the
script they did at the Yes, yes, I did not
know that. So That little witty banter back and forth
was written by Amy Sherman Palladino.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yes, so I just thought there's so much press coverage
for that.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Star, Like, think about it, people get a star like
every week, and you know, I ever see it maybe
every other, like.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Multiple times a week.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
And Scott also mentions, and he'll say this in his
podcast that it was like bigger than rock stars and
the fan was crazy great.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
It was great, So yay to her.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Totally deserved way too long to get it, but cool
that they did it on the twenty fifth anniversary. Yeah,
I think that's really cool.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
It's also just was weird for her probably to reflect on,
you know, being back and it just being such a
tiny little show and it just still continues to mean
so much to Everyone's.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Such a great point, because you're right, it was a
tiny show, like it as shows go. This was not friends,
you know what I mean? And it is bigger than
ever and people are here for the twenty fifth anniversary
because the amount of things I am seeing everywhere is nutsy.
We'll get to that, but first, so Jackie, you watched

(04:51):
the Star, what did you think of like the speeches
and the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
And she's very red. She looked very largeous.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Yeah, very similar to what she wore in the Fashion
Show episode.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Yes, when she twinned with Emily.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Oh, that's right. I didn't even put those two together.
Connie Britain was also there. That's something to note. Connie
Britton was there. Oh, she was there. They're best friends.
Did Connor speak or she was just there? She just
posed with her. She was wearing a red pants. Am
I right?

Speaker 3 (05:19):
They were roommates.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
I think yes, they were roommates back in the day.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
And listen in a couple of days to see what
Scott Passion's you know, link to Connie Britton is as well.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Oh funny, juicy, juicy.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
What was your sort of thoughts on the uh, the
whole thing. I loved it. I think she looked amazing.
I think she's well deserved. You can tell in.

Speaker 5 (05:44):
The stream that there's like screaming fans, like when they
were like transitioning from you know, like the next person
coming in to talk in the next person. You can
hear people in the background love good Oh no way people,
I love ye.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
The thing that I'm loving about the twenty fifth anniversary
is obviously all these press outlets have been sort of
gathering content, you know, over the year to lead up
to this. So one of the things I saw did
you see the one? And I think I sent it?
Why did you drop out of Yale? And then there
were all all the celebrities from Gilmore Girls.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Why did you drop out of Yale? Why did you
drop out of the Wow?

Speaker 4 (06:23):
So iconic?

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Pop out of Yale?

Speaker 3 (06:25):
I mean still, why did she drop out of Yale?

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Finn with the gorgeous accent? Yeah, why did you drop
out of Yale?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Snake? Hey, there you go? Wait, do it again? I'm
so everybody can hear you do the accent? It's pretty glick?

Speaker 4 (06:39):
Did you drop out of Yale?

Speaker 1 (06:41):
He was so cute? Oh, it's really good about it.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Now I need to rewatch and figure out why I
never looked at him twice?

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Yeah, he's cute. I thought all those Logan friends were
pretty cute.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
I never really paid attention to them.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
My front and center is Logan. Yeah, hold on, I
have fried Rice and my teeth. We're gonna all have
to hold on.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
You need to hit this out.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
The people can know that I shoved fried rice into
my mouth before we started, and then one rice colonel.
I don't know what you call it, rice rice grain,
rice grain.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
It was just floating around and I was like, I'm
gonna have to catch this. So, uh, it is Gilmore, Gilmore, Gilmore, Gilmore,
Gilmore everywhere. And also it also happens to be October,
and I'm seeing all the Halloween costumes starting, so we're
gonna put start putting up like if you if you
are dressed dressing Gilmore, or if you have send us

(07:38):
the photo so we can start putting it.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Up on oh yeah, Instagram, so everybody can.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
Every year we repost like all the Luke and Louri
cost tubes and yeah, I love put them all. Last
year it was like, great, everybody went hard those last
two weekends in October, so please went hard.

Speaker 6 (07:55):
Is that bad?

Speaker 1 (07:57):
No, It's amazingly true.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
It's like the perfect way to say it. Okay, so
let's talk about the twenty fifth anniversary and sort of
uh thoughts, right, So, I think one of the things
I think is fascinating is the continual debate about Rory's boyfriend.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
It is just ongoing. It will never stop.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
It is is as much a debate now as I
believe it was then yeah, where do we land on it?

Speaker 2 (08:34):
I love the fact that they it's continued to be
a debate because it shows the evolving norms of society
and how boys should act and how a seventeen year
old should be treated. So it's really interesting because it
kind of is in line with the world. It's kind
of evergreen.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
So who are who is? Who is not your personal favorite?
But who do you think is the best boyfriend for Rory?
And who should she be with today? If we're assuming
she's with one of them?

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Well, there's a few things.

Speaker 5 (09:08):
I am team Jess, but I don't think he was
a great boyfriend for her in the show. I am
team Jess because of a revival and because he has
grown up to be the person who she matches with
the best.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
I don't think you can discredit though, why did you
drop out of Yale? Like we talked about this a
week or two ago, that he is mainly could be
the primary reason she went back. So even though he
wasn't great originally, once he started to return, he was
pretty great.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
Yes, So that's my argument for Jess. I do not
like team Dean.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
It's very handsome, he's childish, He's just childish.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
He was just like, well, yeah, and right flags childish,
but he was seventeen years old.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
I think the problem with Dean and Logan, and I
can say this is they're both cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater,
and once a cheater, always a cheater. Is an ongoing
debate that we could have that conversation, but clearly, first
of all, Dean was young. I have to really make
peace with the fact that Logan was a cheater, cheater,
pumpkin eater, because I am team Logan, and I do

(10:17):
think that they would be. I do think there's some
sort of pull with them and they're drawn back to
each other. And even that many years later they're together
in the in the movies as we call them, he's
still cheating on That's what I'm saying. He wasn't a cheater.
That's when he was cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater. I don't
think he was really cheater cheater in the show.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
Yes, So whenever they were, they got an argument and
they broke up, and then it's the whole friends thing
where we are on a break.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Yeah, which I say he was fine on that, but
he's definitely engaged and like sleeping with Rory. It's like
kind of unhinged almost.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Yep, I'm not a fan. I'm not a fan. I
like Jess.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
I think that he always had a space for Rory
in his heart and had her best interests and wanted
the best for her. And I think Dean was selfish
with this time with her, and Logan was careless with
this time.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Emma again for the people that were on the treadmill,
give that again.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Well, I think that Jess just always has loved her,
and regardless of if he showed up to date her
or marry her like other boys did, he had the
better intentions whereas everyone else didn't. And I'm pretty anti

(11:41):
Deane and fairly anti Logan. I have to say, I
just have such strong beliefs about cheating, Like I just
think that there's far better people that will love you
harder and better and provide you a better life.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
There's I mean, truthfully, I'm team Rory.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Right.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Well, that's fair.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Were you this way about Logan during the show because
he wasn't a cheater during the show. He was a
cheater in the movies. Dean, we cannot make an argument
for he was a cheater and look Rory participates in
that always multiple times. Rory has participated in that with

(12:31):
Dean and Logan. She doesn't have that thing to say, no,
this isn't right, So that's interesting to analyze.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
I think also just just didn't know how to go
about it.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
He had the right intentions, but he just didn't know
how to go about it because he was immature.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
But he always loved her in soft spot for her
and had the right intentions and they were equally matched.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Yeah, and he's just got such a good face, like, oh.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
My god, not want.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
To So what's weird for me is back then I
think I'm Zugri was hotter to me, but now it
might be my low. I mean, not that that's not
totally handsome, but like it's it's also just like really
shades of shades of perfect, you know what I mean,
Like I can't be like and was that this one's
so not handsome, like they're all.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Zugri was at the Star ceremony too, and I'm so
cute that he was there. Lauren Graham called out Pedalaki
and called out Melia, wait.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
I miss this, okay, tell me, tell me what what
did she said?

Speaker 5 (13:37):
She said she was Team Logan because she's on a
Team Logan. Paedilaki bent to Meilia, where are you at?

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Come on? She called him out, and so it's so cute.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
That he went out.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
I think, yeah, it was great, But can I also
say the Panera ad I went to Panera?

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Oh yes, oh my god, oh my god, thank you,
thank you Jackie for being such a good post end producer,
tell us everything.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
So I am team Logan when it comes to this.
So that's the squash or the.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Autumnal squash whatever, it's fine on a tumnal or no.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
The butternut squash butternuts, yeah, which I like.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
And that was the most soup like soup of the three.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Yes, the black Bean was supposed to be Yes, and
then the Fireside Chili is Jared and how we're.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Give me give me your reviews of those.

Speaker 5 (14:34):
The Fireside Chili is actually spicy, so it's like if
you finish the whole bowl, yeah, you're just wanting like
you're yes, and my partner mighty, My partner Eddie is
cubid and bask Eddie.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
He was even spicy afterwards, Oh my god. And the
black bean, for sure, it was it was okay, it
was okay.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
I was a lot of beans.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
I don't do bean soup.

Speaker 5 (14:58):
The butternut squash was my number one. The fireside chili
was my number two, and then the black bean was
my number three.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Yeah, because I get that. Did you eat the bowl?
So I didn't get a bread bowl? What do you
have to specially order that?

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (15:12):
I think you have to request the bread.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
But they have, like the the tablets.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
I can't.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
I didn't get face to face with somebody in ordering.
I had the tablets, so I didn't realize.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
You don't order with a person there anymore.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
No, I mean you can. Which is your Panera? Where
do you go to? Panera? Grossmont Center in San Diego?
Oh my Panera? This is so weird. But and I
it might be gone, might still be there.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
I used to drive down the one oh one when
I was going from San Francisco to La and there
is a or was a Panera. It might still be there.
I think it's still there in San Luis Obispo. And
so it's directly in the middle of the drive.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Yeah, pull off.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
I think it's the same exit as like the Madonna
in and I would.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Hit that Panera.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Oh yeah, yeah, And once we went to a drive
in movie. There's like an iconic old movie theater drive
in movie theater there, and we picked up Panera and
took it to the drive in. And that's how I
learned that in Saint Louis, my nieces swear they call
it breadcoat.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Oh nice.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
I did look it up the other day while you
were talking about it, and it didn't come as far
to say where else is called that, but it said
Saint Louis next to it is called breadcoat.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Yeah, so they were correct.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Yeah, I wonder why they couldn't call it.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
I went to this.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
I went to Panera right after a dentist appointment where
I had to get a crowd.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Oh no, it popped out on the sour dough. No.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
I didn't eat the sourdough hard part.

Speaker 5 (16:39):
I just ate the inside and then but it was perfect,
like soup for my teeth.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Yeah, that's actually there.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
I like the butternut squash.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yeah, it was good.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
All right. Well, okay, so we have so much stuff
that we want to talk about, all the things going
on for the twenty fifth anniverse, but we're gonna do
that in a separate episode. So we're gonna do a
separate episode that's like all the must have purchases, the
different collabse, all the things. So we'll do that in
a minute. Any other thoughts though about the twenty fifth anniversary.

(17:12):
If you could say one word, one word that really
gives you the Gilmore that describes Gilmore Girls.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
For you, what is it? One word comfort? Yeah, that's good,
Emma Special. I was going like home, like it just
feels like home.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
Yeah, because it's just it's nice to turn on and
to escape a little bit into stars hollow, especially like
during these times.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
That clip is going viral again of the Twilight girl
Kristen her last name's out of my Head, Manifestota don't
tell me a steward of her and how one of
her friends told her to watch Gilmore Girls and she's like,
oh my god, like she loved it.

Speaker 5 (17:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Yeah. Milo said in a clip how he's just amazed
at the longevity this show has been out because you know,
they filmed it, like I said earlier, as such a
tiny show, and now he has friends with their seven
year olds that are coming out.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
I saw that.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
I thought that was so cute to hear like this,
not even the younger generation.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
You are the younger generation.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
I know, it's like then there's an entire generation again again.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
No, it's great.

Speaker 5 (18:30):
It just shows you how classic and timeless like the
writing is and the thing is too like you. Like
we mentioned before, it was it as big of a
hit back then, but we have learned to appreciate it
now and I think it's even bigger than it was
when it aired.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
My mom's eighty year old neighbor.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
Yeah, somehow my mom started chatting with her about Gilmore
Girls and she was like, I love Gilmore Girls and
she just lost her husband. So you know, the Vera
Bradley backpack. I told my mom, I'm like, please give
it to her like this over and just leave it
on like the front porch.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Because that's what it is.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
It's like, it's just that good feeling. Like nobody's like
I like Gilmore Girls, you know, lady you know, like no, yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Like nobody's mad about it. Yeah, it's not controversial.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
It's a real show about real relationships. And I love
that because there's a lot of TV on right now
that's like, you know, has some super supernatural element or
scary or is it like about a serial killer?

Speaker 1 (19:34):
You know, it's like I just want to watch good,
real TV.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
And that's not to be gross, but dang Scott when
he was auditioning, dude.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
What so handsome?

Speaker 4 (19:46):
He is so handsome.

Speaker 6 (19:49):
He's so funny you saying, because it's like I've seen
pictures of him, like the playoffs are right now on
MLB and I see like old pictures of him totally
playing baseball and I'm like, oh my god, he's so handsome.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
But it's like talk about our dad. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Thing, It's so true because it's like, we know are Scott,
but then Luke, I'm like, big, the fact that Luke
was supposed to be like a lady is so crazy
that I'm like, that would not have been the same or.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
On for one episode and they it's crazy, right, is
so major on it.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Also that he was kind of older, like he was
in his forties, so it wasn't like a youngster.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
It was no.

Speaker 4 (20:27):
It makes it click a man.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Yeah, yeah, because he was in the MLB before. Yeah,
Oh my god, my god, I love it.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
I love the tiktoks or the like instagrams where the girls,
Like when I've watched Gilmore Girls and it's all like
Dean Jess and logan and now then you know that
girl faints or whatever. There's always faints because it's Luke.
I'm like, all right, well, guys, stay stay tuned to
the I Am all in feed because we are going

(20:57):
to do a full breakdown of all the great stuff
you might want to buy. And look, we are going
to do it at the holidays also, but this is
a great one to prepare for the holidays, like for
that Gilmour fan in your life. So and again not sponsored,
these are like our picks, so stay tuned. Oh wait,
we forgot to say, oh, you know what, we have
to do trivia. Yes, we have to do trivia for
the twenty fifth Okay, first of all, I am not

(21:19):
going to be able to see this at all.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
I'm just gonna let everybody know.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
I now have to turn my flashlight on because I
don't have any kind of glasses whatsoever. Okay, there, all right,
And right now we're using the trivial pursuit Gilmore Girls Edition,
which I think is like, really, it's actually really fun.
Who is the owner of the independence in you can't
ask you guys?

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yep?

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Good Jackie Nice.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
In season four, when confronted by Nicole's divorce lawyer. Which
law firm does Luke say this is little it's do
we cheat him?

Speaker 2 (21:53):
In how?

Speaker 3 (21:54):
I'm pretty sure it's yeah, because it's an old kind
of an old timey joke. Okay, sorry, answer my own question.
I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Would who is the acquaintance?

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Emily says, will read about her big fight with Richard
in the police blotter Constance Betterton or pedal Huffington.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
