Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in again.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
It's just you Gilmore Girls Gazette with Amy Sugarman and
Danielle Romo, an iHeart radio podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
This is the Gilmore Girls. Cas said, it's a big week.
Two days, two days, Jackie, We're heading to Stars Hollow.
I know. I'm so excited. It is crazy. It is
finally here.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
We were talking about it.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
For a while, excited because it's gonna be like eighty degrees.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
I know.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
I'm sure it'll make it excited. No, I want it
to be cold. I wanted to be freezing. It's freezing
where I am. So I'm pretty excited about eighty degrees.
But it's gonna be funny. I think they do make
it snow. Question for you, did you start your advent calendar?

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Because yes, it's some on Instagram, so I'm totally horrible.
I thought I was gonna be able to Is.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
It a twelve day one or twenty four day one?
It's a twelve day one.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
So I posted on the stories after the first like
eight days, but not daily.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
I kind of like, did it in one day?

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Is this efer lights up? Yes? It likes? Do I
make it light up? Do you have to put a battery.
It shouldn't it should definitely, mind's not lighting up. But
sure's some really good stuff in here. Well I'm happy
about that. But how do I make the lights go on?
I'm wondering. Everyone's listening while we do this.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
But in the.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Is there a switch? Yes?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Hold on, let me unblur my.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Oh, so there's definitely not a switch on mine. No,
I think mine has just a completely dead battery. All right, guys,
we'll worry about this later. I'm going to do my
best to focus, although now all I want.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
To do is fix it.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
But okay, I'm gonna do my best. Deep breath, Happy
birthday out, I'm brody. Yes, hes birthday Monday.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yes, I know, I know.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
I didn't realize.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I didn't realize either.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
I'm obsessed with this advent calendar. Let me just see
what day one is. Let me just see what Day
one is. No, I'm gonna wait. I wanta wait till
I get the light's going on. I gotta put this
thing away, Okay, coming soon. I was gonna do it today,
but crazily, Emma got to vacuuate. This is why we're
so populated, you guys. Emma just texted us like four
seconds ago, and she's like, guys, there's a ghas leak

(02:28):
in my apartment. I'm being evacuated. And we're just like, yeah,
obviously just go.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Like okay, she was like, I can't go to a
coffee shop because they're they're shut down too.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
I was like, oh, my, should go to her grandparents,
her amazing grandparents. She always thinks. So So anyway, we're
a little discombobulated, but it's totally fine. Nothing stops us,
nothing will stop us from bring you the news. So
I have to talk about I know I always have
to talk about it, but I just do. Hugh Jackman
and Sutton Foster, oh my, I don't know why we

(03:01):
always have to talk about it, but we do. And
there's actually something set and Foster breaking news that I
want to talk about that seems like we need to
send Emma. But okay, first of all, we need to
remind Emma she's not here to get tickets to Chess.
I have not seen her do that yet. Didn't we
say we're gonna send her to Chess?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Yes, because of Danny Danny Boyle or not Danny boy
Daddy Boyle, The Trade whatever that movie.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Danny's Strong who played Doyle really barely kind of just
blurred all that. Okay, so there's this video of Huge
Jackman and Settin Foster on like a red carpet. They're
very cute. I'm not gonna lie. They're very cute. They're
very in love. But he's like, I cannot figure out
what's happening? Can you please we figure out how to

(03:46):
put this on Instagram. Basically, it's like they're holding hands
behind and kind of like huddling hands, but it looks
like she's got nine arms. I can't figure out how
her arm is doing that. Yeah, I can't, No, said
the video, and tell me I'm not wrong. It's so confusing.
It's like they're one of those couples who always have

(04:06):
to be touching like fine, which is fine, fine, but
it's how is she doing that with her How does
she have to do seven arms? Like I'm like, she's
a dunce. Because I remember looking and being like, all right,
I see the one arm and the other arms going around,
but then another arms touching his. It was I was like,
I don't know, it was straight. My brain could not know.
Are you going to see songs sung? Blue Sing song Blue.

(04:28):
I have a song sung song sing Blue song song
Blue got Jaggie. It's a song. I am discombobulated.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
I am trying to pack for our trip because I'm
going up to La tomorrow and then I'm going to
Shasta Lake right afterwards, and I'm going to my parents
after that.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Everyone. Here's here's what I can tell you. I cannot
take credit for this line, but someone said I'm limping
to the finish line, and I was.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Like, accurate.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Do you want to Okay, guys, sorry, but so I
have the ultimate menopausem in it. Don't let me forget. Okay,
here's why I'm discombobulated. So yesterday being healthy eating a BlackBerry.
Oh no, the seed from the BlackBerry. This has happened
to me before. But normally I eat a chip or
a nut or like a piece of gum and it
comes out. The seed from the BlackBerry went literally into

(05:21):
this one little hole I have in my tooth on
the top. So like my Dad's like, use flaws and
I'm like, that's it's not in between, it's in the tooth.
It was making me so crazy. Like here's what I
could tell you. I could feel it in my tooth,
even when my tongue wasn't touching it and it was
not in between my teeth. It was on the top

(05:42):
on my tooth and I could just feel it and
I'm like going crazy. So I had to call my
dentist run over there. Of course, my point was at ten.
Guess what happened at nine forty five? It fell out?
Hundred percent the seed came out in the show, I
feel like the seed came out. Still went to the dentist,
even when you go to the dentist and you're kind
of like, oh my mouth is a little funky.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Yeah, oh no, I've been doing intense dental work the
past month and a half, even doing the demail idea. Yeah,
I I've gotten two. I've got two crowns. I have
one more to go next month. Intense dental work. It's
just so, it's a lot.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
It's a lot. It's a lot.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
It's a lot, lot lot.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Okay, we digress, Sutton Foster and Huge Jackman have nine arms.
But Sutton Foster is doing something that actually sounds super cool.
Do we know how much it costs? So basically she
put on her Instagram that it's it reminds me of
dirty dancing, Like, yes, you can go to a dirty
we have Emma has to go to this. You can
go to a dirty dancing thing. It's in Massachusetts, Canyon Ranch, Massachusetts,

(06:43):
January twenty sixth to the twenty ninth for the weekend
and it is danced out.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
No, yeah, I just clicked.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
I'm so no. We should have bought at the minute
we heard about it. Join the waitlist, go on the waitlist, immediately,
on the waitlist immediately. Can you put us on the waitlist?
It says you get three transformative days of dance, strength training, meditation,
soulful connection and self expression with like minded women. It

(07:18):
sounds great. I'm not gonna lie. This sounds working great.
Tip of the hat to use Sutton Foster. It says,
uplifting sessions with Sutton Foster Movement workshops. I mean, should
might be a genius, Like, yeah, how much is it?
Fifteen to fifty per person per night excludes taxes?

Speaker 3 (07:38):
That's a lot. That's like five grand probably.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Fifteen night, no three nights. It's one to correct five grand.
That's a lot. I don't know if we can afford that. Actually, whoa?
But still put us on the waitlist. Put us on
the weight list. I'm doing it right now.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Now.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
My question for you is would you want to go
to that? I think so in the new year.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
I feel like my I'm putting twenty twenty five away
gladly because I think it was one of the worst
of my life. And not to say any thing bad,
but like it's just it was a lot. So it
was gladly to start twenty twenty six on a clean
slate gladly, So this would be nice, but I wouldn't
pay I don't think i'd pay them a lot.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
That's a lot, but I think if it was in California,
I would do it. Yeah, I'm not going to Massachusetts
for it, but if it was in California, if it
was close to my house, even like I don't know
that sounds weird, but like I don't want to go
all the way to La like it was in Carmel.
I'd been. I've been. Five thousand is a lot.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
So there's a lot of things I'm sure that are
in Carmel too. I just put us on the way.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Lest all, right, But I wanted the Sutton Foster dance, Yeah, dance, cardio,
strength and meditation in the Berkshires. It's like, who we
need to call Drenda Medley because five thousand times, how
many people do we think are going let's say fifty
quarter of a million dollars? Whoa, whoa, Wow, that's a lot.
But she's she is smart to Sutton Foster.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Yeah, oh yeah, it's nice. I wouldn't mind a weekend.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Okay, we're gonna get to some Lauren Graham stuff. But
first sidebar I was today years old when I realized
Elvis was so hot. I know I texted you that,
and I know this is a little bit. Listen if
you want to coming in January, we're working on the
logo Elvis is Hot. Did you see that video I
sent you in the brown suit with no shirt?

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Google, everybody sitting at home right now, that's what I said.
But it's not Elvis brown. No, it's not Elvis brown suit,
no shirt. It's not that is real. Now. They enhanced
it a bit to make him look more ridiculously handsome,

(09:49):
but even the real one. Google it Elvis brown suit,
no shirt. First of all, what in the Austin Butler?
He's rocking a suit with no shirt? And let me
tell you so good. I never knew how hot Elvis
was until like, just now, I'm sorry, I didn't know.

(10:10):
I always thought he was very handsome.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
I always thought like his Boston.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Butler became Elvis, Like, can I just say, oh, yeah,
that move was great. Wow, it's a little long, it
moves a little. I liked him and The Carrie Diaries.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
Did you watch that the CW show? Someone told me
that the show's okay. It was like, it's like a
TD bopper show. But like I did, I do remember
him in that show.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Well, it's the same reason you remember Michael B. Jordan
on Parenthood. You're like, I think you're a movie star. Yeah, exactly.
All right, let's get to Lauren Graham. So Lauren Graham

(10:54):
has posted on her Instagram, which we always like get excited,
a cookbook. What is she posting?

Speaker 4 (11:02):
She just posted it with caption treats from Santa. So
it's just showing off like what she has, pictures.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
What she's using to cook.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Maybe yeah, cookbook from Alice in Roman, some courage bagels,
a flamingo flamingo estate, anchovy.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
So it's like a little like she had a jar
of anchovies. Basket. Yeah, it's basket of like eggs and vegetables.
I don't like anchovies, but my niece who's ten, will
just like eat anchovies like gol I used to eat
them when I lived in Madrid during college.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
You would put them like you just open the can
put them on. Yeah, you'd put them on bread. And
you would have a party in the middle of a park.
It's called a b and you have a party in
the middle of the park and you have all these snacks,
and anchovis was one of them.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
What about sardines.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Sardines, Yes, that too, I would do that too. I
don't eat them anymore though, strangely so it's just a
college thing. Well, I mean the things I could eat
in college that I cannot eat know same same.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
I'm like, no, I can't do that.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
I could just it's like crush in the Ultimate cheeseberg
from Jack in the Box and like go out for
a run like it was nothing.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
I know, a double double or something.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Whoa, I just saw this horrible story we have to
report on that is so not like good for the holidays.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
An actress from The Marvelousness Mazel got hit by a
car in New York.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
Why not I know, crossing the street. She was sixty.
Her name Alton Davis. Yeah, she was a cop in
season five of The Marvelousness is masl Oh my god, wow,
I know, isn't that sad. It's like you're just walking
the street and I always say.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
I guess we'll just say you have to be so
appreciative of life. Yeah, and it's like generally trying. That's
kind of like my twenty twenty sixth thing is like
a little less anxiety, a little less stressy, a little
more just like having some fun something non holiday related
to that.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
I know everybody's talking about this week and it's action
to gil mcgirls is because of all our family Sally.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
It's so it's so it's so bad insane.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Right, Okay, I don't want to like, fine, let's just
huddle up and talk about it if we're gonna talk
about it the minute. So first I get the breaking
news alert, I was like, something's not right with this,
Like I was like, this doesn't seem like like immediately
I was like, oh, yeah, me too.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Now.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I did not immediately think it was the sun. I know.
I didn't know that. I didn't know the situation there.
I didn't know the history. I didn't looking back now,
I we did interview Rob Ryiner on a show I
work on where he was when he made the movie
with the Sun. I my mind cannot comprehend the whole

(13:52):
thing like it truly. First of all, it's such a
weird thing, as I am heartbroken for every single person,
including controversial thing the Sun.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Yeah, and they were saying at Conan O'Brien party, first
of all.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Yeah, the fact that like Conan O'Brien got dragged into it,
and you see Bill Hater got dragged into it. Now, no,
that the son was talking to Bill Hayter, Like, I
don't even This is the kind of story that I'm
just like, whoa, I guess he was talking to Bill
Hater at Conan's.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Party, just acting erradically.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
I know. It's just awful, just literally, there's nothing to
say other than this is so awful.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
It's insane.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Sally Struthers gave a quote, right, what did she say?
Like we have to talk about it because it's completely
directly connected to what this whole show is, which is
Gilmore News about the people that were in Gilmour Girls.
So forgive us, we're talking about it. I'm sorry because
it's not normally the kind of story. I mean, normally
we do a lot of fun stories. We're talking about,
you know, Sudden Foster holding hands with Hugh Jackman. That's

(14:55):
the kind of story we like.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
She said, it's there are no words. This is beyond
dev stay and my heart is with their family. Yeah,
that's what Sally starts said, and she told Deadline that
as horrible.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Yeah, that's true. There are no words. And then in
the awkward pivot, then we have to go to another story.
It's just like now that we're news people, I feel
for like David.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
Muhr, Yeah, I relate to David Murror. Now they would
take a commercial break and then they would.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Come back smart, smart Jackie, right, because you can how
you pivot from that story too? Well, Kenny Ortega hasn't
watched his Thanksgiving episode, Like, how do you do that?

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Yeah, we're just doing it.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
So, first of all, I love Kenny Ortega. Yeah, like
the fact that he directed so many Gilmore Girls episodes
is just simply iconic. The Thanksgiving episode deep Fried. I
always call it a deep Fried Thanksgiving, but it's actually
a deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving. Yeah, so he says, I've
never had the chance to watch. My sister watched it
not too long ago, and my great nieces are huge fans,

(15:57):
and we're just talking to me about it, so they're
all watch it together. He was asked how he got involved,
and he said that Amy Sherman Palladino wanted to, you know,
invited him to come in for an interview. She said
she was a big fan of his choreography and choreographers
as directors, so that was that's pretty cool because she

(16:20):
understood that, and she wanted him to take part in
the show. And he said, Amy didn't like you to rush.
She loved elongated shots. Let the words live and the
performances carry the scene, and have trust that the audience
doesn't need you to be cutting back and forth. Totally agree.
As a choreographer, I loved that. I agreed with that,
and so it was really about me finding ways to

(16:40):
stage these scenes that served its necessities. Let me tell
you what this makes me think. This makes me think
that Derek Huff is going to become Kenny Ortega. Oh
my gosh.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
I love Derek Huff's stuff, like I will go on
YouTube and watch his stuff.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
A thousand percent agree. My hot take is that like
Derek Huff is going to become like the director of
like you know, Mulan Rouge or like those kind of movies.
Totally yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
So Kenny Ortega's first episode was they shoot Gilmour's, don't they?
And that is the dance marathon, So I think that's
why she seeked out somebody with that experience. And then
then a few episodes later it's a deep fried Korean Thanksgiving,
and then he did twelve episodes total, so I think
a lot, you know.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Yeah, to know what, I watched twenty times this past weekend,
twenty times. Yes, Derek Cuff's like choreography for Disney. I
don't know what the song is like, move your elbows,
Move your elbows. And then they go to the door
and they open it and Dick van Dyke walks out,
and the entire crowd, I don't know how to say

(17:48):
this anymore, Claire, the whole crowd goes ah. They lose
their minds. The crowd is standing, they are going crazy.
They cannot believe that Dick van Dyke has just walked out,
because he's doing a Dick van Dyke like. I don't
know if it's the music Man or Mary Poppins or
what the song is from Mary and Dick Van Dyke
at the time was step in Time, Thank You Eavy,
step in Time. Step. It's like they opened this door

(18:09):
and this first of all, Dick Van Dyke comes out
and he's dancing. He's ninety eight at the time, now
he's a hundred. I'm so obsessed with Dick Van Dyke.
I've never been this obsessed with Dick Van Dyke. Yeah,
Like I remember the Dick Van Dyke show. I'm older
than you even and like it was on reruns, but
I still remember it and would watch it from time
to time. I wasn't as much of a Diagnosis murder fan,

(18:30):
but love that he did.

Speaker 4 (18:32):
It was that for a wonderful World of Disney, like
that Christmas show that they did.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Yeah, it was some hunt. I don't know what it was.
Watch the crowds just crazy and it's just like, oh
my god.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
I remember Dick Van I think very vividly. And Mary
Poppins when I was little, so.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
I never really saw all of Mary Poppins, but I
saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang like a million times. For
some reason, every time we do on my grandparents. We'd
watch Chitty Chitty Ban Bang. Somehow my grandpad, like this
was before VCRs, he had it on like a I
don't know how we would watch it because he must
have had it on some sort of movie reel. Yeah,
I don't know that. Yeah, like we watched movie reels
at my dad cool so actual film, yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
And then.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
My other Dick Van Dyke story that I think I've
told before, it's my favorite of late Chris Martin is
on Jimmy Kimmel with Dick Van Dyke. First of all,
again freaking iconic, right, So he's telling this story about
making this music video with Dick Van Dyke. Dick Vandyke's
in one of cold plays like newer songs, and they're

(19:33):
making the video at Dick Van Dyke's house. And he says,
Dick Van Dyke is ninety nine at the time, I think,
and maybe ninety eight, but I think ninety nine, and
his son is seventy four. And Chris Martin says his
favorite moment is, and this video is like viral on
TikTok or Instagram, is that the seventy four year old
son goes up to Dick van Dyke and says, hey, dad,

(19:55):
can I turn the pool slide on? And Dick Van
Dyke's like yeah, and Chris Martin's just like, can't even
handle that. They're combined ages one hundred and seventy six
years or whatever, and uh, he's asking a dad just
like any son would like, hey, you cant turn the
pool slide on. I did not tell it. I told
the story I think on this show before. I do
not tell it as well as Chris Martin.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
I'll look it up. I'll look it up.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
So I did not tell it. Well, you're saying I
did not tell it, Well.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
I don't know. I don't know what's a pool side?
What is the pool side? Like you don't know what
a pool slide is? Like the slide on your pool.
I'm totally thinking like a thing to open the pool.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
I thought you like the kids or something like that, Like, okay,
got it.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Let's turn the whole storytelling moment.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
I practice.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
I pride myself on repeating stories in a good way.
But guys, do yourself a favor. Watch that there was
something else we wanted them to watch. The hands, the hands,
the hands behind nine hand is strange so today we

(20:59):
were also going to do our gift segment. I've been
working very hard on this, but we don't have Emma,
so we'll have to figure out somehow to get that
done because I have our gift guide.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Okay, we can do it at Holidays made here.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
That means I have to love all this stuff down.
I can do it. I can do it. I'll back it.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
I can maybe do that.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
Yeah, there's some great stuff in the Advent calendar, like
I've only opened up.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Don't talk about it because my light won't work, and
I don't think there's any Okay, now now we're going
back to it. Okay, I don't think there's any way.
It's not like you can change the battery there. So
if I turn the switch, should the light go on?
It should? It's like a double A or it's like
those disc batteries that. Oh, I'm absolutely there's zero chance
I can find one of those. All right, So let

(21:44):
me just get number one. I'm just gonna are the
lights on the inside or the outside. I have no lights.
There's no lights. This is not for real. Okay. I
can't get number one out, so I'm just gonna get
number three out. Oh, my gosh, you guys, Jackie's is
lit up like Christmas. You got to open it and

(22:06):
you gotta what do you mean you got to pull
this little thing out?

Speaker 4 (22:09):
You gottah, where is that you gotta you gotta unload
the stuff inside.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
No, you have to take all the things out out. Well,
that's crazy. And then at least we're helping people because,
by the way, I just got this new toothbrush. I
got it from Amy Robot and TJ. Holmes. They did
their gift guide and there was something called a Oh no,
it's like a Surrey toothbrush or something, and I can't
make it work. So I'm literally gonna have to like
