Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in again.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Oh that's just you Gilmore Girls Gazette with Amy Sugarman
and Danielle Romo, an iHeartRadio podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
And we're back with the afternoon evening condition of the
Gilmore Girls Gazette. Yeah, and we just have too much
news and we gotta, like, you know, we go back
to the stars Hollow newsroom. We gather up the stories,
we do our research, we do our interviews, and then
we come back with the you know, another edition. Sometimes
we have to have more breaking news.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
There's just so much out there.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
It's so fun, especially this correct I know it's it's
quite a time. It's quite a time for Gilmore Girls, right. Yeah,
so I teased it in the last episode, but I've
got two shows that I will recommend three actually three,
so we'll start with some Gilmour headlines and then we'll
get to those. So okay, we're gonna have to probably

(01:07):
read this get the audio book. I think we teased
this before, but it's now out that Keiko did the
audio narrated a book called Meet Me at Luke's Lessons
in Life and Love from Gilmore Girls. The author is
Christine Eckhart, who is Eckhart I think that's right. Aaron Eckhart,
Christine Eckhart, I think I'm saying it right. Who is

(01:27):
the founder of the Gilmour Book Club. It's a celebration
of the show and it's life lessons. I think we're
going to need to do a couple of things. Number One,
let's see if Kiko will come on to talk about it.
Number Two, let's all listen to it. Maybe that's another
homework assignment. We can have one or two weeks to
listen to it so that we can review it. Tell
Tara and Suzanne to do it too, so they can

(01:49):
do their own review too.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Oh go, yeah, because we do our book clubs with
them anyway.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
So exactly they just did Lauren's book. Okay, this we
have to find. And here's my problem. I do not
know where a magazine stand is and I do not
know if they have this in like Safe Way, Ralphs whatever.
What are grocery stores called them?

Speaker 4 (02:06):
The East Coast Wegmans?

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Oh, Wegmans. It's British, isn't it is it?

Speaker 4 (02:12):
It's a beautiful, huge market. It's better than Safe Way.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
It's more like Bristol Farms, yes, but not as fancy
as airwon correct, Okay, okay, got it? Anyway, in the
yeld days, they had magazine stands. There was like a
couple of really great magazine stands and you can get
every magazine and now they don't have that. But we
are trying to find Country Living the Gilmore Girls addition,
so in honor of the twenty fifth, obviously, they created

(02:41):
a Country Living Gilmore Girls And we don't even really
know what's in it because we don't have it. Did
you find one?

Speaker 4 (02:49):
We can see online that they've curated some sections and
talked about paint colors for every Gilmore Girls fan.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Kitchens, coffee stations.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Okay, the gazebo is on the cover. We have to
get this, So how do we can we order it? Like,
I don't know how to get this. We're gonna have
to hunt this down. We have a week to find
it before next week.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
This special digital issue is available on Apple News.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Plus I don't even have that. I don't know any
of that. I don't even know what that meant what
you just said.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
So it's a digital issue.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Is this not also a regular magazine or is it
only digital?

Speaker 4 (03:24):
It says it's a special digital issue, but Apple News
on your phone.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
I guess I do subscribe to it.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Then you can access it. I don't subscribe.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
I have Apple News Plus.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
I'll look at it, yeah and see. I mean, I'll
need some time to really read it to do a
good review. But I'll try to figure it out. Can
I do it on my iPad? I can't see anything
on my phone?

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yea, yeah, because your iPad is logged into your account.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
So I need to go get my hook. My neck's
getting them. I'm getting that muscly thing in my neck.
I need my massage hook. Has anyone else tried the
massage hook? Anyone needs to tell I'm going to do
get one yet?

Speaker 4 (04:01):
I didn't. No, I don't quite experience.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Oh, how is it to be twenty? Okay, how's that?
How's that going for you? To be twenty?

Speaker 4 (04:08):
It's all right.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Mine's always under my desk.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
I know I should keep one in here. Yeah, I'm
going to start doing that. I'm gonna start doing that.
I can just keep it. Okay, let's talk about.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Why Gilmot Girls works twenty five years later.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I want to talk about that, but first I want
to talk about how you can go to UCLA and
do the Gilmore Girls Tour. Yeah, so UCLA is in
fact Harvard Harvor. That was kind of cool. So like
when you're in LA and you want to see uh
parts of Gilmore Girls, all you have to do is
go to Westwood. Yeah, and that was kind of cool.

(04:44):
I think the girl showed it in the on Instagram.
She would show the building and then you see it
in Gilmore Girls and then back to the building. That's fun.
We should do that adventure one of these days and
take fire.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
Yeah, it was Harvard, it was Yale. It was everything
because you know, they just such a beautiful camp.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
It's gorgeous.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Yeah, and not limited to just Gilmore Girls, but also
legally blonde modern family in Oppenheimer.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
A couple other things that we noticed this week, and
we're going to try and get her on Let's reach
out to her. This girl wrote this really cool article
for People. I think she wrote it for People magazine.
Her name is Carly, and I think she wrote like
an article about how Gilmour Girls makes it cool to
read books.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
You don't have that right. Yeah, it's fascinating because she
was talking about how she always been someone that read
books and this is the author is the article. It's
an opinion editorial. Yeah, she was someone that read books
and to have it, to have Rory be this bookworm
and thrive in society, her stars follow society. It just

(05:48):
made her feel like she could do that.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
And also got the cutest boyfriends ever, right, and go
to Yale and be cool at Yale.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Yeah, yeah, she said. Rory showed me that it was
cool to even have said comfort zone in the first place.
When I started watching Gilmore Girls as a teenager, Rory
was the first time that I saw shy bookworm like
myself as the main character.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Yeah, she would be really interesting to talk to because
I'm also curious to know if she read books that
Rory was reading, Like if people are inspired to read
certain books because Rory read them, which I'm gonna have
to assume. Yes, Yeah, I mean I think that Gilmore
Girls inspires you to watch TV, Like nobody was watching

(06:32):
cop Rock until Lorly and Rory were talking about it.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
You know.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
I think there's a lot of pop culture things too
in Gilmore Girls that you go, oh, you know what,
check that out. Speaking of I'll tell you the show
I'm super into right now. First of all, Morning show
is good. I'm going to give you morning show. Wayward
is definitely interesting, but the one I started it last

(06:57):
night and it was insane. It's on Apple and it's
called The Last Frontier it is, and it was like
high up. I was like, oh, this is number two
on Apple. I guess because I was going to go
to watch the Matthew McConaughey America Ferreira tied to Rory
Gilmour from the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I was

(07:19):
going to watch that.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Bus Lost the Bus.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
So which I still will watch that, but I was
going to watch that and then I thought, no, this
show is like what is the show so good? It's
so crazy. This plane it's very con air ish, like
if you've ever seen have you ever seen conn Air?

Speaker 1 (07:36):
I have seen that.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Think of con Air and the plane crashing in Alaska
and these criminals are bad and so it's the story
all about this plane that crashed and the police and
the it's crazy and there's some sort of CIA thing
going on. The plane crash scene is like intense, Like

(07:57):
I think the gnarliest plane crashes ever is like castaway,
how gnarly plane crash?

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Yeah, that one. I remember that one.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Person who doesn't aply. That is a I'll keep you
on the.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Ground, Grey's anatomy gnarley playing class.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Oh yeah, that was rough, but this this was gnarly.
There's a few alive. That movie Alive had a really
gnarly playing crash.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
It looks really good.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
It's really good. I got hooked, so I luckily there
was two episodes. But then I had the screeners. So
I think I've watched four, but two are out. Not
to brag, sorry to be braggy, but I had the screeners.
Pardon my bragginess, but highly recommend I.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Will say I'm a huge rotten tomatoes girl.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Oh see, I don't even pay attention.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
It has forty two Is that a lot? No?

Speaker 3 (08:42):
No, no way, now could it wait? It has forty
two percent or some.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
Proval rating because it goes my approval rating. So only
forty two percent approve of the show.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
So how many people disapprove fifty eight percent?

Speaker 5 (08:54):
Or combine the reviews? Right, Emma, and just like regular
people too, like metacritic, I.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Don't know that far. I just look at the number.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
I don't listen to that stuff. You guys, just listen
to me. If I tell you to watch a show.
Watch it. Come on, wait till my show in twenty
twenty six called Listen if you want to Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Nat is going to really tell you the shows to watch.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Have you heard of Task with Mark Ruffalo?

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Yeah, everyone's talking about it, but I haven't watched it
watching it, I haven't watched the Sunday's episode, So don't
tell me. Is it too smart? Though? It's not like
this because this is kind of action me.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
It's it's not too smart at all.

Speaker 5 (09:38):
It's it's regular people, biker gang Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Yeah, I love these movies that take place in Philly. Randomly.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Give the Last Frontier a chance. It was It's good.
I'm hooked.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
I'm hooked.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
What else do I want to tell you guys about?
You know, we've got a lot of twenty five years
of gil Mergirl's There was an article on the sanfor
Just Goo Chronicle which I did read through, and I
think it talked about I hope you guys read it too.
It talks about how this person would be interesting to
talk to. Also, we've got a lot of people we
got to talk to. At the heart, it's really about

(10:14):
Rory and lore Lie and how really cool they were,
and even with Luke, it's true that it was better
to keep that relationship drag it out a little bit
more because I think one of the reasons we love
Gilmargirl is we really got to see Rory and lore
Lie together for the most part. You know, it would

(10:36):
have been weird if there would have been a man
in the house the whole time. I wouldn't have had
all the things that we got to see.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
They said that you can actually like because it does
take a while for luc and Laura like you could together.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Yeah, it takes a long time.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
When we watch shows, it's it's it's it's.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
Like, oh a montage And she points out that you
actually watch him fall in love, and I think that
works out.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Well.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
That's a good formula for TV shows because I feel
like that's what it's like for the Summery turn pretty
as well.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
It's like you really see have to watch that. I
still need Alli and.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Conrad for three seasons like go back and Forth.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
I think for Gilmore Girls, yes, of course Luke is
a major part of it, but it's the town, it's
the kind of you know, I think it does hold
up other than like the awkward cell phones yeah, it's
it doesn't feel dated, right because the town is sort
of so small town that that.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
Town would be the same now, you know, yeah, community family,
Like that's a small town I grew up in. It's
like the small community family that like you all know
each other. It's like you don't act out because a
few hours later, your mom's.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Gonna know about it.

Speaker 5 (11:44):
So it's like it's and then you're gonna get that
reputation of that girl who you know partied at a party.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
And I never partied a party, but.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Like I always think about the one where Dean and
Jess get into the fight and was like.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
And then the whole town no on your mind because
she's like, but that was a good article.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
I liked how they.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Yeah, it's interesting. There's some really interesting like and I
guess we do the same just talk about Gilmore girls.
But you really can talk about why and you know,
even in this article they talk about like if you're conservative,
you like it, if you're liberal you like it. Like, yeah,
there's something for every everybody in it and it's really

(12:29):
just easy.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
They the author also made a really interesting point that
I never put together myself. But in terms of Luke
and lorarelized relationship. They weren't together for as long as
they weren't, and they had the chance to talk to
each other and to get to know each other all
throughout this time to slowly fall in love. So like
that's the special part of it too.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Yeah, you love their ping pongy as I always say it,
or they're sort of back and forth and the funniness
and speaking of because if it's October, it's October. This
is not totally related to Gilmore Girls, but I can
stretch it because Scott was in Saw four. I read
this article and I knew this was true, and I
just I don't think i'd ever seen it. Maybe I've
seen it in you know, some psychology today or whatever,

(13:12):
is that horror movies are actually good for us. It's
actually good to be scared like that, No, because it's
like a safe scare hard. So do you not like
horror movies at all?

Speaker 1 (13:24):
I never, never will. I hate them.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
I will not even trailers. I cover my eyes. I
hate October watching regular TV because I cover my eyes
for trailers. I'm like, nope, nope, oh.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Even horror movies. Yeah, like horror movie trailers. Yeah, over
your eyes Okay, So I love horror movies. I especially
love horror movies like today right, Like, I don't typically
watch them at night because it's a little stressful for me,
but during the day I will totally go to like
the horror category and just find some scary movie to
pop on while I'm going around the house doing emails.

(13:57):
And this article this is very sidebar, but this will
be you know, it's good for the gazette. The gazette
can have a lot of news in it.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
It's good for you.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
It says, yeah, like, there's many articles that have been
written kind of explaining why horror movies are actually good
for you, and I kind of agree.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
I would have that. I would have never put that together.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
A safe scare this is from the article. This is
on a substack, so I don't want to not give credit.
I'll figure out where I got this. But a safe
scare acts like an emotional drill. You activate the circuity
of alarm, then let it stand down. Each repetition strengthens
your ability to return to calm faster. The same resilience

(14:43):
looped used in exposure therapy.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
So I was just about to relate.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
You choose a suspense over gore tension you can release.
Sometimes I do watch gory stuff. Fear dissipates faster in
good company. So if you're watching it with something, notice
how quickly you recover. And obviously this is not for kids.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
WHOA.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
A good scare is a rehearsal for courage. It primes
the body, engages the mind, and helps us recover faster
in an anxious age. That might be the healthiest thrill
of all. WHOA. So to give credit, this looks like
this was written by Aileen Dawson and it's a story
adapted from her article she wrote in The La Times.

(15:26):
A Halloween scared can sharpen the brain. So this October,
feel good about a scary movie.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Go see Saw.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
I just watched. I was watching Saw the other day.
I watched Jaws two the other day.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
I've seen Jaws is fine.

Speaker 5 (15:41):
It's like the spiritual stuff like that gets me because
I feel that stuff evil does exist in our life.
I'm a person of faith, but like, I don't want
any of.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
That in my house.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
So you don't want like some sort of haunting. No,
you're more comfortable with.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Jaws, Yes, a jaw scream. I can watch those Jaws.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Three D would bring you a lot of joy, because
first of all, it's such bad three D from like
the eighties that like an arm goes flinging at you.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
I was talking, stuff doesn't bother me, scream doesn't bother
When it's a person killing somebody, that doesn't bother me.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Saw is gnarlely though, Saw is.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Yeah, so you wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Mind, Like, like, I'm trying to think of another horror
movie that you might enjoy, Like, what about if it's
like a killer like Jason or Freddy Krueger.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Look what I did last summer, that's fine.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
I know what you did last summer. Not look what
I did last.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Oh, look.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Look what I did last summer. No, I watched The New,
The New. I know what you did last summer. It
was fine. I feel like I talked about this.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Oh my God podcast.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
I watched a less scary movie actually no scare last night,
and it's my October movie, Practical Magic.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
First of all, please, Emma, everyone loves Practical Magic. I've
never seen it, Emma, what you know they're coming out
number two?

Speaker 4 (17:03):
Are you serious with?

Speaker 3 (17:04):
Yes? Sandravil just finished it.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
I do know that I need to watch it.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Yeah, Practical Magic was not popular when it came out,
and now it's like a cult classic. I watched it
obviously when it came out because I was in first
of all, the fact that Stockard Channing is the one
of the one of the ants or whatever you know,
from Greece and from the Western. No, it's so good.
Mark Foyerstein is so cute in it, and he's the

(17:30):
one that dies her husband. Yes, and then Aiden Quinn
just I wonder if he'll be in the new one.
He's the one with the blue eyes like the you know,
he comes and then they fall in love.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
And I love the kids.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
Who does Nicole Kidman end up with? Nobody?

Speaker 4 (17:44):
I fell asleep?

Speaker 3 (17:45):
What Yeah, I was tired, get back at it. But No,
Practical Magic is a great movie. I'm not a hocus
Pocus girl, but I know people love hocus Pocus.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
I love hocus Pocus. That's good.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Well, and that's the news, guys, And that's the news.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
That's news nuts.
