Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in again. Oh that's just you.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Gilmore Girls Gazette with Amy Sugarman and Danielle Romo, an
iHeartRadio podcast.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
It's the Gilmore Girls Gazzett. Emma's here, Jackie's here. Hello,
We're ready to rock. I mean again, there's so much
going on in Gilmore world. Yeah, like it just doesn't stop.
So let's start with though, the Gilmore connection to an icon,
(00:44):
which is Diane Keaton.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
That was tough, unexpected. Did we Did we know that
she was sick in any way?
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Like?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
No, But here's the thing. I think this is because
she is so fun, fun, loving, spirited, beautiful. You would
never know she's almost eighty. Yeah, right, Like what happened
for me was our group text. All I saw was
(01:15):
that's awful. This is so sad. I'm so upset. But
I didn't I missed, you know, I saw all that
going but didn't know what everyone was talking about. So
of course you have that pit in your stomach and
you're like, oh no, yeah, what am I going to
open up? And then when I saw it, I was
like what? And I think it's because first of all,
it's something's got to give. I always want to say
It's complicated. By the way, those two movies Amazing are
(01:38):
so very similar though, yeah, similar movies, So I often
blur the titles, but I actually prefer Something's Got to Give.
I think it's even better. That seems like yesterday, guess
how many years ago that movie was Tawny twenty two
years ago? It seemed to me like I was like,
wasn't my movie only ten years ago? Still I still
(01:59):
on that movie. I get that she had to pick
Jack Nicholson, but Keanu reeves like, are you kidding me?
I literally might have been like, uh, Keanu is Keanu
and he loves you and he's a doctor and he
loves you.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Like, but I love the chemistry between her and Jack Nicholson.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
So that was like the poll for me.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Yeah, for me, it was like, uh, you might want
to think about Keanu. Is It's complicated? One with Alec
Baldwin and Meryl Street? Okay, very interchangeable, So it's complicated?
Is the one with Meryl Streep and Steve Martin and
Alec Baldwin and is divorced from Alcal You've never seen
Something's Gotta Give? No, immediately watch it tonight. I will
(02:48):
you know what I was wanted to watch you know
own me. Oh yesis Club? You know that on It's
either Netflix or Amazon one of them that shows uh
First Wives Club And something's got to give, I think.
But maybe Father of the Bride are all in the
top ten. It just means everybody just went immediately and
started watching I mean Father of the Bride right now?
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Was she not in Family Stone too?
Speaker 5 (03:13):
No?
Speaker 1 (03:13):
She is. Everyone's like on Instagram is like, uh, I
can't watch this now this holiday season. It's already hardy though,
But think of our age, like people older than us
are like Annie Hall, like she's a true icon. And
also her line at Hudson Grace is amazing. That's like
(03:34):
one of the last like things she did, because that
collab came out not that long ago. And even it's
like kind of weird even right now on my because
I do shop at Hudson and Grace a lot, and
so I think I get their ads. What is it
is a clothing line or is it a department store
or Hudson Grace is like a home store but like
very high end, Like I like their soaps and she
(03:56):
did She's got her books with them now. I'm sure
you can get her books in Amazon also, but she
definitely had her books that are very black and white
like her, like her, you know, her style, black and
white dish towels and these beautiful red matches. It's like
that kind of thing Christmas ornament of Diane Keaton, which
I'm kind of like, I think I might need to
(04:16):
buy that, like really cute stuff. But we say this
to everybody because Lauren co starred with Diane Keaton in
that movie. Because I said so, I think was that
the one with Mandy Moore? Also, yeah, and you know
I've seen it. It wasn't as like well known. Maybe
we need to go back and do a rewatch. So
(04:39):
Lauren posted tell me if I'm getting this right that
Diane wrote to Lauren, please don't be a stranger. Please
invite me to one of your dinners. And finally, please
hug yourself in the morning and remember to write your
book and don't let yourself get anxious. You big winner,
you love die. Oh my gosh, can you have so special?
(05:00):
I've seen many a letter like that.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
I think.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Molly Shannon posted her text exchange with Diane Keaton and
you just must imagine the like heartache for Steve Martin
and Martin Short who then had to do a live show.
They had a live show like either Saturday Night or
Sunday Night, and they showed a picture of Diane Keaton
and Kimberly Williams Paisley, who played her daughter. And I
(05:23):
mean it could go on and on and on. Almost
every celebrity somehow has a connection. Yeah, Reese Witherspoon, I
saw the studio.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Yeah, spoke about it, and she said meeting her and
she was like straight from Nashville with her Nashville accents.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
I'm rache Withtherspoon, you know, like doing her Nashville accent.
And she was like, you're hot. Diane Keaton was doing it.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Yeah, No, no's Reese Witherspoon was her first job.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
She was like fifteen and it was her first job.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
And she made and she had her access and Keaton
was like, you're hired, you're a I want to get
to know you because she Reese had her Nashville accent
talking to Diane.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
So yeah, Rees Witherspoon had speaking up. Had some pretty
intense movies early in her career. Did you ever see that,
Mark Wahlberg, It's almost like a horror movie. It's not
quite a horror movie, but it's like Mark Wahlberg plays
this kind of like crazy psycho boyfriend. And then I
can't think of what it's called, but it's Reese Witherspoon
(06:24):
and she's very young. I mean she's literally like I
remember interviewing Reese Witherspoon when we were both must have
been twenty because she was still at Stamford and she
was like doing movies. So anyway, this movie is Theear
Wahlberg from nineteen ninety six.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
What's it called Fear?
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Yeah, it's scary, and Mark Wahlberg plays this creepy guy
and then he tries to kill everybody. Basically he tries
to kill. William Peterson plays Reese's dad, you know, the
guy from CSI. And then there's like a stepmom and
I think she's played by like either Kim Delaney or
the other actress that looks a lot like Kim Delaney,
Alyssa Milana and Amy Brett Amy Brenneman. For some reason,
(07:01):
I always want to get Amy Brennman and Kim delaneysed up.
That's like Dylan McDermott and Dermott mulrooney. But anyway, so
we digress very we went real tangenty there. But somebody
should watch because I said so. The cast has getting
Mandy Moore, Gabrielle Mock, you know from Suits, Tom Everett
Scott from You Know That Thing You Do, Piper Paramo
(07:24):
Ugly and Tony Hale, a bunch of others. All right, Well,
moving on with the headlines. Uh okay, I love her.
Sally's drouthers. I guess didn't interview recently where she talked
about an on set accident during a topless scene with
Jack Nicholson, which is a nice segue from Diane Keaton
(07:45):
to Jack Nicholson. People spoke with Sally about her upcoming
role as Missus Peck in an Old Fashioned Family Murder?
Do we know anything about that? This is this her
play she's doing. Yes, I think it's a play. And
she said theater holds a special place for me because
that's where I started out. I started out on the
stage of my high school and it goes on and on.
(08:05):
I chose to take a theater class because I've never
been afraid to get up on a table and entertain everyone.
I've been doing that since the second grade. But it
goes on, and it says in her second film, five
five Easy Pieces, which is like a very famous movie
which probably none of us have seen, which we should.
But she's talking about Jack Nicholson. He was kind and fun,
serious about his work, and it was nineteen sixty nine.
(08:26):
I was very young. He's a perfect example for me
of a movie star where you get the best. She said,
I had to do a very sexual scene with him
with no clothes on the top, glued against him, with
my arms around him, so my breasts or smashed into
his chest, and then he's twirling me around and around
in a room. The film does include a brief glimpse
of nudity, which shocked her and her family when they
(08:49):
became aware of it. My mother didn't talk to me
after she went to see the movie, and I don't
blame her. I never did anything like that again. Oh
my goodness. Now I don't really see the accident part.
Is it just like because she was like glued to him.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
I guess he lost balance while doing that.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Oh where do you see that part?
Speaker 4 (09:06):
I don't see that clicked on the article.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Oh, tell me about it.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
So the medic came in and Butterfly taped his arms
and his hands shut, and they cleaned the blood off
in and they did it again, wait till he.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Fell whoa while she was topless.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
I guess all right, Okay, well, wow, that is a
good story Jack Nicholson. Okay, speaking of I don't I've
gone down like so many wormholes this weekend because of
all this. So somehow, I, you know, sixtygrees of Kevin Bacon.
I decided to watch a Few good Men. Guess how
old Jack Nicholson was when he made a Few good Men?
(09:43):
And this actually shocked fifty He was fifty six. He
looks okward to me. That's why I think Jack Nicholson
looks good now. He looks the same now because he
kind of looked older when he was young. So then
when you're like eighty or ninety like he is, you
kind of look like, oh, kind of look like you
looked when you were sixty.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Yeah, he's always kind of looked old in my eyes.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Yeah, because in a few like literally in a Few
good Men, he looks the same age as he does
and something's got to give, And the same age he
is in that one with Helen Hutt. I'm like, is
he just the same age and all these but anyway,
that's just my thoughts this.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Okay, I haven't seen a few good men. I've already
got five movies I have to watch.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Okay, I'm sorry, I'm need to process this. You've never
seen a few good men? No, I've This is the thing.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
I watched a lot of TV growing up, and I
still watch a lot of TV now, so like I've
always been a TV gal and so like when and
I've had these conversations at like my past job, people
would be like, well, I'm going to make a list
for you, Jackie, And I'm like, okay, I haven't seen
any of these iconic movies.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
So as you're mentioning.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
Men is really good, I know I've heard.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Let me give you a couple of tidbits. So can
you try watching something's gotta give yes and a few
good men? And next week just at least give us
like a little bit of a review. Yeah, a few
good men. First of all, it's so good all around,
but there's like you'll be like, does that keep a gooding?
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Junior?
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Because I know a Wiley is that Josh Molina is
that you can't handle the truth? Is that that one yeah, okay,
see Tom Cruise is really good in it. Although I
think Tom Cruise is at his hottest in the Top
Guns and in Jerry Maguire, but he is really Have
you seen both the Top Guns? Yes? I had. I
went to the theater for the second one. It's good. Yeah,
(11:34):
it's really good. First one. I loved it, of course. Yeah, yeah,
the Mission Impossibles. Here's my problem with the Mission Impossibles.
They're confusing and like, oh my gosh, I'm like, what's happening. Yeah.
I watched the very this is cool like two months ago,
and then I started to try to watch the newest
one and I turned it off thirty minutes in. I
(11:55):
actually did watch the newest one. It was and I
muddled through it still very confused. Is oh my god.
But the one before that couldn't even figure out it out.
I was like, actually, I have to give up. I
don't understand what's happening.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Yeah, I was like, AI is ruining demanded, I don't
know what it was.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
It was very Yeah, it's confusing. I still just went
through it because I'm like, it's the last one. I
better watch it. Happy anniversary too, are very own Suki
Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone, who've been married
for twenty years. His post to her is so cute
and uh Yaniek was at there, like anniversary party they
(12:32):
threw like a big old anniversary party. I was so cute,
Like how fun.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
I love seeing how close they actually.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Yeah, yeah, it's nice because it's like you have those
friends from the boss that you think like.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Oh, like they're not going to hang out again afterwards,
but they actually do. Oh totally. They stayed friends the
whole time, and I think they've worked together again. But
Ben Falcone wrote, I got hit with a lucky stick.
I married the love of my life and car carrying
hypoo kondriac and so Melissa. First of all, I love
that Melissa McCarthy. It was a hypochondric aren't we all?
Are we all? And yeah, it's just so cute, like
(13:06):
they seem really really cool. And I also have to
commend the idea of an anniversary party. I've only been
to one, like people don't really throw Actually that's not true.
I think I went to my aunt and uncles and
my grandparents fiftieth anniversary.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Yeah, fifty I think is like the one that people do,
but twenty I it's.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
But my friends, I don't know if I should name them.
Dugan Denise had an anniversary party and it was really
cool because nobody really does that. And I think it
was for their you know what I'm gonna say. It
was their twenty fifth Oh that's good.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Maybe like those the twenty five years, like those are
the ones twenty five, fifty seventy five?
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (13:42):
I thought it was really really cool. And are your
parents still married? Amy, No, they were married for twenty
something years and then now my dad's been married again
for thirty something years. My dad's the real marrying Yeah. Yeah,
he's a married kuide. Yeah. But my grandparents, all my
grandparents were married for like fifty years. Wow. Maybe, like
(14:04):
I can't do the math, but maybe more I think
a bit more. Yeah, my parents are forty five years. Yeah,
this is crazy. My aunt and uncle have been married
for over over fifty years and they've been together since
they were like fifteen. What, yeah, do you do that?
I don't know that. Yeah, I mean it's not crazy. Yeah,
(14:27):
so they've been married, like I guess if my cousin's
like they're pushing sixty years. Wow, that's incredible. Kudos to them. Yeah,
they've definitely been together. They need to write a book,
Chris know all stuff to ask them, tricks and how
long have your parents been married?
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Twenty five?
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Long time?
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Yeah, long time. I've seen their ups and down. So
but it's awful.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Yeah, oh same here. I mean they're so happy.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
You just said that.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Would be perfect. No, that's what I was gonna say.
It's like I say that you look, this is we
can talk about Luke and Laurli. I think you make
a choice. It's a choice. Yes, it's a choice. You
make the choice choice. So anyway, that's it. This is
our gilmargirls. Because I love edition. Yeah, we have so
much to talk about. We're gonna have to do. We're
(15:20):
gonna have to do two parts again like we did
last week.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
So uh.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
I love this because I actually wasn't aware of this.
How close Chad, Michael Murray and Milo are to Amelia.
I never knew that because they weren't on the show
really at the same time. I mean, I don't think
there was any crossover.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
There was no crossover.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
So yeah, Chad said, I love him like a brother.
I've known Milo for a long time. We've always crossed
paths in and out. The two actors did get to
work together on the TV show Chosen, which do we
need to watch that? I've never watched that.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Yeah, I never even heard of it.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Milo was a lawyer who's been chosen by a mysterious
organization known as the Watchers. I've never even heard.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Of this show.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
When was this? Let's see and one of the best
jobs Chad says he's ever done. And he met his
wife Sarah on that show. Interesting connection to Scott because
Sarah played Scott's father on this other show that Scott did.
The names out of my head Menopausals.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Elvan's Crossing Nope.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
It was a show that was on NBC. It was
a kind of a weird show, which was it was good.
Somebody's going to have to look up the title. It
was years ago and that in Scott played her dad.
But yeah, I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
And I love that that show was on. Chosen was
on from twenty thirteen twenty fourteen.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
And how did we miss it?
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Aliens in America Nope, Vengeance Unlimited Nope.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Just google Sarah Roamer and Scott Patterson at the event.
The event that was the one the event. By the way,
total sidebar that I noticed. Did you know a lot
of Gilmore Girls people are on cameo? Oh yeah, I
didn't know that. Missus, Kim Luke, Michelle must be more
so we might want to put a cameo on our
(17:03):
holiday must have lists for Gilmore Girls, which I'm working
on that we will not be revealed. We'll reveal that
list right after Thanksgiving, so we've got time. They're all
talking about the twentieth the anniversary is saying, yeah, it
would be so fun to get you know, that might
be worth a couple of bucks to get them to
do a cameo for you. Yeah. Yeah, Well we've got
(17:26):
let's let's do a few more stories. Let's just let's
just keep it going. Okay, I think we all knew this,
but I did hear read that Amy Sherman Palladino admitted
she knows who the father is. I mean, we all
know that, but I think she's just reiterating that she
does know who the father was, and.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
And she'll keep it to herself.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Well, hopefully eventually we're going to find out.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
I was I was kind of brainstorming yesterday, like if
she's the type of person that would reveal it, you know,
or put it something like our place side in the
song right, like it would cut like if she had
a plan to tell her audience, because it's so wanting
to be known. But also she is said in the past,
(18:11):
like it's so so obvious who the father.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Is obviously Logan, right, Like anyone with a calculator can
figure out it's Logan, right. She said it was obvious too.
I kind of wanted to be Jess now, but anyway,
I mean I wanted to be Logan. I'm fine with
either it's obviously not Dean. We know it's not Dean.
Who would think it would be not the Wookie? Either
God or that boyfriend that was like that was you
(18:35):
know what. I didn't like that part of it. Who
was like, you didn't forget you have a boyfriend. No
one forgets they have a boyfriend. Now anyway, cydebar, we
can let some of the mistakes of the movies. I
just feel like they got to do it again. My
two shows that are like not over are this one
and Sex and the City. There's just no way, zero
chance there it will be back again. We'll be back again.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
You think Sex and the City too. Oh.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Do I think it'll come back again? Uh huh oh yeah,
for sure, for sure. I think they'll do another movie.
Or yeah, I think they'll do a movie. There was
always supposed to be three movies. They'll do another movie.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Yeah, yeah, I could see that. A movie, not another series. No,
but a movie's great, but movie. I can see that
now that, like I thought, I like thought about it.
I loved the movies.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
I love both the movies, but I really loved the
first one, and I love them both, and I'd watched
them just to see the clothes. Yeah, and second the
second movies, fashion was excellent. Yeah, and she's wearing that
skirt with the black judor T shirt whatever. Oh you
say that? Yeah, Okay, before we go, we're going to
tell you about Bliss. Did we not talk about Bliss
(19:41):
last week? We did, But we also know that that
Keiko's doing Bliss also, Yeah, and we.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Know their routines. The Bliss posted some cloud.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Yeah, that's right, their routines. I saw Kelly Bishops.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Yeah, and they're both wearing the headband.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
It's so cute. I love it. I love it. Well,
We've got plenty more news to share, so stay tuned.
We're gonna we're gonna drop some breaking news, like this
is the morning Edition, and we'll drop the afternoon edition.
Remember that show, Early Edition? That was like a Kyle
Chandler show. Remember that you don't remember that he got
the paper. It was kind of like one of those
(20:19):
I sort of want to rewatch it. Oh, speaking of
I've got a couple news shows that people need to
know about, so stay tuned. I'll give those in our
next episode. But Kyle Chandler got the paper, and it
was called the Early Edition because he'd get the paper
early so we'd know everything that was going to happen
that day. It was kind of like one of those,
(20:39):
you know, Highway to Heaveny type type type of deals.
I don't think he was an angel, but like he
had some kind of powers to get this paper and
he could fix its almost quantum leapy. He could fix
things in the paper that he didn't I think, am
I messing this up? Somebody listening know this early Edition?
But look, say there was like, oh, there's a bus accident,
he could go and stop it from happening. I think
(21:01):
that's what the show was. Yeah, we'd admit I maybe
only saw one episode. Now it felt like I knew
of the show, but I really just realized and that's okay.
I'm stay tuned. I'm gonna have some really good TV recommendations.
So in a few hours we'll drop another episode. That's
the news.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
