Speaker 1 (00:00):
I Am all in again, Kiss You.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yill Moore, Girls Gazette with Amy Sugarman and Danielle Romo.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Then iHeartRadio Podcast.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
All right, we're back for some Parenthood. Season two, Episode six,
Orange Alert air Day, October nineteen twenty ten. I'm gonna
synopsize before we get into it.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Great episode, by the way, great episode.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Ze Goo's overboard for Halloween, but for a very special reason. Meanwhile,
Adam and Christina are nervous about Max's new plans for
the holiday. Sarah's relationship with Gordon gets complicated after she
confronts them about their kiss, but then he surprises her
in a good yeay. Julian struggles with her belief in
women's rights when Sydney chooses a costume she doesn't enough.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Oh my gosh, I mean it was so good.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
It was so good.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
It was all so good.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
So the main premise of the show was Halloween.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Although I'm not loving Crosby.
Speaker 5 (01:12):
It's like that's not as good.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Yeah, but I would say Jasmine brings them down.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
I was like, this isn't as good for me, but
just still good.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
But probably just they need.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
To spice that up a bit, right, We're getting a
bit too much redundancy there, for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
So this is all about Halloween love. This is a
very very special holiday for the braver man.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Although can I flow the San Francisco flag?
Speaker 5 (01:39):
When they said across.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
The bay, I'm not going across the bay, No one
says that, right, right, No one says that. They'd say
like into the city, or like, I just have never
heard someone go across the bar. I'm not going across
the bar.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
So that it would be like me in La saying I'm
going west of the four of or I'm going east
of the four or five.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Right, which occasionally you might maybe say so like one
out of a hundred times, maybe you'd be like, ooh,
I don't want to go east of the four or five.
But like normally you just wouldn't say across the bay.
You'd go like, I'm not going into the city, or
you'd be like if you're in Berkeley, because I'm assuming
when they met across the bay that it was like
in the San Francisco and I was like, that sounded weird,
(02:26):
and I said it twice and I was like.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Oh, I think that's weird anyway, continue I interrupted.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
But you know it's built up basically the whole episode
about how important Halloween is, and we hear from Zeke
that the reason why it's in so important is there's
a sentimental thing there, right, because.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
He has a lovely story.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
It was so good, right because he got shipped off
to his army training.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Yeah, and I loved when Monica Potter was like listening in.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
I know, I know, And it was so basically back
in the day, you know, Zeke was getting shipped off
to army training, and it was the last holiday before
he got shipped off with Camille, and he was going
to be gone for Christmas and New Year's and Easter
all that stuff. And he said that this, this Halloween
(03:15):
before he got had to go, was every holiday wrapped
into one in the best day ever and so ever
since in every Halloween.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Reminds him of that day and it's just.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
A very important and sentimental holiday for him.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
And I love him so much.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
And they go all out on the costumes.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Wow out the knife over his head.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
I was like, I'd be scared if I was a
luckid around. Yeah, but yeah, I mean, you know, Zeke
is really thriving in this episode, going overboard with the
decorations with his costume, the whole Braverman family going above
and beyond for their costumes in general.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
So everybody worrying about Max, but Max had it.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Max, Max had it, so a big yeah, a big bel.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
So proud of the candy eating. It wasn't super fake.
It was like really good eating.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Did you notice that.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
The eating in the show in general is pretty superb
compared to Gilmore only.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
The other show I'm going to put on top of
Sex and the City.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
They really are good at the fake eating or the
actual eating.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
But I thought the candy eating was very good.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
I thought Joy Bryant's candy eating was not as good
as the other's candy eating, maybe because she was just
taking very small bites of what looked like like a
mini you know, crackle type of thing. Yeah, you know
those are really a two biter, maybe maybe a one
bitter and she was going like eight bites and I'm like,
h But otherwise the candy eating really good.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Really really good.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
I mean, so going back to Max, so Max, Max's
whole thing was or not Max's thing, But oh my god, Christina,
Christina and Adam, uh, you know, we're talking to the
therapist about how you know, they're nervous about Halloween, but
that it's it means a lot to Adam that they
celebrate Halloween because it's such a big braver man holiday, YadA, YadA, YadA.
(05:15):
But Max, because of his aspergers, is very very scared
and gets triggered by fire, which on Halloween, every jack
lantern is lit by fire, you.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Know, So yeah, yeah, yeah, this whole entire literal episode
is is Christina just trying to go to every house
on her block.
Speaker 5 (05:41):
I mean that was and also like, oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Use these battery operated glow sticks for your your Also.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
These days, don't know that many people that put actual
fire in their jack lanterns.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
I don't even know. I'm gonna be honest with you.
I don't even carve pumpkins anymore.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
I just get a cute.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
One plastic you know, pumpkins that light up.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Yeah, no, I I don't even I get real pumpkins,
but they're like the cute white ones and green ones
I just make.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
So it's more of a fall escape. Yes, I don't pumpkins,
thank you, because it's too hard. So I have like
fake ones, but they light up, but they're like, you.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Know, there's no fire. Yeah, fire seems so dangerous.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
But anyway, do you want to know my favorite storyline
in this episode?
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (06:34):
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (06:34):
It is? Freaking Sarah and Billy Baldwin so good.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
It's so good.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
I just like him.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Okay, I liked him in this episode. I did.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
It's not likely to get this in the pool. He's
so cute, like and charming.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Well, you gotta give people some background here. So Sarah
him friends Gordon.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
Yeah, that was uncomfortable, uncomfortable. I was like, this is
so uncomp awkward off and.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
She's like, why are you Like, are we just going
to pretend we didn't kiss? Okay, yeah, yeah, I guess
we'll pretend we didn't kiss, you know, basically is what
the conversations right, And he kind of like stiffed arm
her for sure, like literally blows her off, and like
he said, they have different lifestyles.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
Rude, I know, so the whole thing. I was like,
I am so uncomfortable. This is so awkward. I hate this.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Anyway, She's just like I loved it, love to hate it. Yeah,
And she goes to work at the at the bar
and she's wearing this.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
So bad for the other guy.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Oh, I know Mike r I p Mike.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
He's like nowhere to be found.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Sarah's working at the bar and of course her catsuit
on Halloween.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
So oh cute by the way, I mean she Convan c.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
I know Gordon shows up and he's just Lauren Graham
is thriving in this season, like right last week with
the glasses, this one with the cat like, she is
so cute.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Right, and she's trying to avoid him being in doing
her job and he just keeps ordering beer after beer
and not drinking.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
It but giving matrons. So she like literally has to
pay attention to him. Uh.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
And Amber calls her and says she needs to be
picked up from that frat party.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
And friends Sosa or Zosa friends, the girl from Girls
has lost her mind because the boy she likes was
kissing some other girl and so she's now in the pool.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
And I love that Amber was a banana.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
She banana banana, sus a banana is so good.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
But I mean, Kelsey, Kelsey, Kelsey, Kelsey, I need you
to figure your life out.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
You are annoying.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
But remember their high school girls at a college party
across the bay, Like.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
No, it is something very relatable, like we all know
someone that did that.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
I was just like someone that just made a complete.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Joke of themselves because they caught them their boy They're
not even their boyfriend, the guy that they liked me.
You know.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
It's so high school.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
And Gordon just goes in the pool.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
In the words of Michelle Obama, go high, like it's
always better to just go high, but like it's hard.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
I get it, ladies, it's hard, but let's try, ugh,
So I.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Mean, and then Gordon just saves the day with his
fast car and got in the pool. His hair looks
so great. And then I think when she's all drunk,
she's like, your mom's boyfriend is cool or whatever?
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Right?
Speaker 3 (09:41):
And then is it presumed that they become boyfriend and
girlfriend because they both like well, I liked how that.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
I mean, he's only on for eight episodes, so we
only have like four left with him, maybe five.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Right. The thing that gave me the ick is you
got the ick.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
I got the ick because Sarah says something like you're
so good, You're so good with kids, and he basically
was like.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Oh no, I'm just good with a woman. Because of
my ex.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
No, but I thought we were supposed to take away
that the ex was an alcoholic or a drunkie lady.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yes, but it just kind of still was a little.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
That didn't bother me because I thought, oh, wow, he's
opening up about his situation.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
So I mean fair that you.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
I mean, I'm not saying you aren't right, but I
got it different.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
I was like, there was a little like he has
a slight trauma from his last relationship.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Is what is in interpreted?
Speaker 5 (10:33):
Correct? Correct?
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Right? But yeah, I mean, I guess you can debate whether.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
They're boyfriend and girlfriend.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
They definitely talk about being boyfriend and girlfriend and that
they both like it.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
That seems like crazy though it's date two.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
I hope I hope they aren't because I just hope
I like Mike way better.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
But yeah, I mean, I will give it to you.
I will give it to you. He definitely was great
in this episode.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
Yeah, he was real, real charming, real.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Cute, Jasmine Crosby whatever.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
But speaking of taking the relationships to the next level,
they're engaged.
Speaker 4 (11:07):
Well, yeah, I forgot with like a like a.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
A candy ring. You know that's weird that like I
forgot that.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Well because we technically don't know if she says yes,
oh that was.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
Like ended on that.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
That's that was the cliffhanger of the episode. Yeah, I mean, look,
I love that cross.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
My top storyline's not my top storyline.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
I love that Crosby is like so like in and
I just I just hate that Jasmine's so annoying.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
That's a good way to say it.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
She's not like there's just it's just sort of like, yeah,
it's kind of a one note right now. She's just
very one note, like, oh, Crosby and I gotta be
annoying about the kid. Crosby annoying about the kid, do
you know.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
What I mean? It's kind of right.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
There's not a lot to her yet, right, whereas everybody.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
Else has like a lot of depth.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
Jewel, Julia, Christina, Adam, Sarah, like, they're all there's a
lot of depth to.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Them, right. I agree, I agree, And see you can
communal too.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
They h for sure, for sure, for.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Sure, even Max, even Hattie, even Amber. There's so much
all these right, so they just really haven't figured out
Joy Bryant yet. She's sort of one note. Yeah, right,
A great episode. I mean I'm giving this a nine
point nine.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
It was a great episode.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Yeah, I'll give it a nine six.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
The one thing that one of our producers made a
note for I didn't watch Arrested Development, so like, I
don't know, but I didn't. Allegedly, May Whitman's character in
Arrested Development, she like prominently it featured her wearing a
recurring banana costume, so it's kind of like a nod
to that.
Speaker 5 (12:43):
And did Arrested Development come first? It must have?
Speaker 1 (12:48):
It said it was your previous TV series, so I'm a.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
So okay, So the banana was a little easter egg
of some kind, right, Oh.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Yeah, Arrested Development two thousand and three, so yeah, this
that was before seven.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
You never got into that show? I know people did.
I tried, I could do it.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Yeah, good stuff.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
That's the news.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
No, that's not the news.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
That's this is Braverman's out, everybody, and don't forget.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
