Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in again.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Oh it's you, Gilmore Girls Gazette with Amy Sugarman and
Danielle Romo, an iHeartRadio podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
It's time for a parenthood recap with an unfamiliar voice,
but I'm very happy to be here. Welcome to the
Gilmore Girls Gazette Parenthood edition for this week.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
It's pretty good good. Marco's fairly professional, Thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
And you know what I love about your shugs, and
there's so much. But your hair is always a work
in progress.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
I know nobody.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
They don't usually show the video, so I have a
meeting after this, so I'm curling flat ironing my hair
while we talk, which is like totally easy to do.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Totally. I've known you for almost sixteen years, and I
feel like you've been working on your hair. No longer
it does. You're always working on your hair. It's just
something we expect of you.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
It's also like a calming so like the flat ironing
is sort of like I don't know, like I don't
want to say massage because it's not quite as good
as that, but it's like a calming thing so that
I can be even more focused on parenthood.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
But it makes me realize that I've never been a
person that the hair has been done for, Like I
feel like I'm down a few tears.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
You've never.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
In the process. Oh, correct that the hair is never
done for something I'm involved with.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Right, Sorry, but that's like just you should feel good
about that, Okay, I guess so you just get like.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
The easy breezy. I'm not totally like ready to rock
the world, but like, so, Mark, how do you feel
about filling Danielle's shoes for the next like three four months?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Well, they're big shoes to fill and I mean that literally.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
And people really like her also more than they like me,
but they.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
May like you, well, I hope they do. And also
the joke I was making there is that Danielle's husband
feet she has size and nine something like that. Yeah,
he calls her schemes, or at least they used to. Anyway.
It's it's an honor. It's it's tough because I love
Danielle on this show. She's very funny, she has a
great laugh, She's very enjoyable to listen to it, and

(02:13):
I like the interplay.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
She watches it with an interesting perspective.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
We don't always agree, but she definitely does. And I
love Parenthood. My wife and I would watch a show
before bed every night, and we've gotten less consistent about
that since the kids turned into teenagers, but hopefully that'll
be back again. But yeah, if you asked me or
my wife our favorite shows of all time, Parenthood would
be right at the top of the list.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Oh, I love that.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Did you watch it in its first like when it
was on NBC?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Or did you okay? And then have you rewatched it ever?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
No?

Speaker 2 (02:42):
No?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
And that's what was so fun watch on this one.
But we had to live through every off season is
it coming back? Because it was never a hit, like
are they going to bring it back? And then they
would for like a mini season and then there was
writer's strike and it was always complicated. But we loved it,
and we loved it so much that the finale. We
waited about six months to watch the finale after it
did because we did not want to say goodbye to

(03:03):
the Braverman's mark.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
Do not reveal the finale, But do you remember when
I came in and told you about the finale?

Speaker 1 (03:10):
I came in.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
I think you were there, Remember I came into Seacrest. Okay,
it's like in a video that went viral. I think
you were there, and well, when was the finale? Were
you When was were you there?

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Oh that's a good question. Maybe I wasn't.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
I mean, it's pretty unforgettable because I was so shook
up after the finale.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
We won't ruin it.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
I was there, Yeah, twenty fifteen, So I was there.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Yeah, you should look up my video.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Okay, all right, because Ryan immediately like pulled out his phone.
I was so upset after the finale. I did not
know how to function. But we won't talk about that now, Okay,
all right, fair because.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
That's just too spoilery. All right, Like, let's start talking
about this episode. Where to begin? I kind of wanted
to begin with Zeke and Camille, but like.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yeah, sure, you know. I mean, general observation is just
the genius of this show and for a night Light.
So I give credit to Jason Caadams, although I don't
know if he deserves that or not. The acting is
so natural, it's so it feels like improv even though
it's clearly not.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
I know, I think it, I know, And it's kind
of the way he shoots to there's sort of a
unique way in the way he like, you feel like
it's a how do I say this, it's not a documentary,
but you feel like it's not.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
It's you're kind of like in it with them.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah, and the way they always right there. I've never
seen another show kind of recreate the way people naturally
talk over each other, the way they totally.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Oh my gosh, it's so funny bring that up, because
we did talk about that in the scene. There's a
scene with Christina and Adam and the kids and they're
sort of talking, and they are talking over each other,
but you fully understand.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
It's like, so well done because normally that does not work.
Let me tell you where that does not work in podcasts.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, I know. I found that's true always.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Like, oh, these people aren't talking all at the same time,
and you can't understand one thing they're saying. Okay, So
this episode with Zeke and Camille was kind of heartbreaking
and Cringey not gonna lie Zeke going to see the
art teacher, although there's something about it that's sort of.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Not the worst, but so Cringey I was just like,
I'm uncomfortable.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Yeah, that was very uncomfortable. The whole thing is a
reminder that no matter how long you're married, you can
never get complacent. You're never done. There's no finish line,
like you always have to be put in the effort
and not and not just ignoring each other.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Well, and also the hypocrisy is live and well because
he cheated and then she they were apart when she
you know, with the art teacher. But yet he's so
upset about it, rightfully. So also shows like emotions don't

(06:01):
make sense and we feel what we feel.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
But it's a bit.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Really Zeke, really his is the bigger crime.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Correct, And he's so.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Upset and then trying to be a bit controlling and
then going and embarrassing her with the our teacher.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
It's so cringey.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
It's like, oh, Zeke, and then he got so angry
and we're seeing that anger come out that Adam was
talking about.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
So it just shows a bit of their characters.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Them in therapy I thought was really really interesting because
he does not want to be there, and yet it
is still it does still seem to kind of get
through from time to time.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Correct, how did we and did we resolve anything with them?
Or were we left sort of with it being kind
of messy with them.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
They had that scene in the garage at the end,
but it was still miss messy for sure.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
That was when he was so mad and she kind
of called him out, like it's just kind of like
no resolution.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
And that's another thing I really like about the show
as opposed to like, I don't know, let's say nine
to two and zero. It's not tied up in every episode.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
It's still like, Okay, we're going to figure out what's
going to happen. There no resolution, all right, who do
you want to talk about next?

Speaker 1 (07:08):
We can talk about Adam had a great quote with Amber,
so we can talk about the Amber things.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Yeah, okay, so I think it was for cal My school.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah that woman.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Now was a little weird because like, who is that
woman to suddenly have juice to get her into college?
But like whatever, fine, who cares?

Speaker 1 (07:28):
So the quote I loved was and I wrote it down,
good life will knock you down more than you can
possibly imagine. Don't knock yourself down.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Yeah, and that kind of and I was like, well, I.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Got two daughters, I got to remember that one. That's
a good one.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
That kind of worked on her, so she sort of
I thought it was the thing I also like is
he kind of comes in, she sort of knows it's coming,
and then she sort of gets emotional, like I mess
things up. I don't want to do this, and then
he delivers that line and then we have the nice
payoff where she really thanks Sarah aka Laura Lai aka

(08:05):
Lauren Graham for doing They have that scene I think
on a bench, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
I think so. Yeah, and that's but that's such a
teenager thing to not. I don't want to do that.
I don't want to put myself out there. I don't
want to. I don't want to leave my room if
I don't have to.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Well, and she has the awkward conversation with the woman
and then it kind of got good.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
It did start off sort of uncomfortable, stones.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
We're gonna work that in and again, Billy Baldwin is
still real cute right now, real cute, Like I like
the character.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
I like the whole thing. He's like really cute. And
doesn't he ask Laura to have dinner something that night?
I think they're like going to go have.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Dinner, yeah, I think so. Yeah, maybe she's.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Coming home from the dinner and I.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Don't remember him being in the show, like I was watching, Oh,
look at that. I don't remember that. I don't remember
watching Billie Baldwin in the show. I don't remember Michael B.
Jordan being in.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
The show, Okay, because you didn't, because he wasn't Michael B.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Jordan, because he was just the random dude from Friday
Night Lights at that point, Like he came on later seasons.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Oh yeah, that's right, Friday Night Lights. He was like
the later Like, yeah, he.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Came on later. He sort of replaced I don't know,
Sarah sn or something. I don't remember exactly, but I.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Love the lesson from members interview. I thought was, if
you're nervous going into something like that, a job interview,
whatever it is, if you would make your nervous, it
sucks the air out of the room and it's not
so weird anymore. Totally, I'm so nervous. And then you
have a laugh about it, and now I remember I
was nervous. Oh, I don't be nervous everything, and then
everything's okay. It's good to just admit it.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
First of all, here's my words of wisdom. I tell
everyone that we work with, just tell the truth. Just
you cannot go wrong. If you just tell the truth.
And that's kind of what you're saying. It's like, just
tell the person, like, I'm nervous. I didn't know if
this was you know, if I should do this. I
don't even know. Uh, and then you're like, Okay, now
we're going to just chat. So I'm still liking Billy

(10:00):
Baldwin in this.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
Uh, what are you thinking of Michael B Jordan And
I always forget their name?

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Sarah Roast.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yeah, by the way, she's had an interesting career, hasn't she.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Well, do you watch Chicago Med?

Speaker 1 (10:11):
No, but I watched The Bear.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Oh I didn't watch the Bear. She's in the Bear.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
She's in the Bear, and she's got she's really.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
Really good on Chicago Med. And she's on the spectrum,
which is like kind of oh interesting.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Yeah, they don't.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
I mean, I don't know if that's so. Like I
think we're supposed to know that. I think we're supposed
to kind of understand that. Okay, they don't like totally
spell it out, but I'm pretty sure she's.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Quite an actress. But yeah, no, I liked it. Birds
of It. I love when she called him and she
said hi, and he said hey, Hattie and he was like, oh,
you recognize my voice? Like that was such a sweet,
real moment.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
And then somehow doesn't he call her and say yes?
And then yeah, it's like obviously he likes it. And
then didn't they start playing scrabble? Yeah, it was the
best part. This is the best part when because.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
They had words that didn't work. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
And then she tells her grandma, is that in this episode?
Or am I blurring two.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Up the side? I think that this episode? Yeah, that
was the final scene I.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Think, And that actually made me cry and the grandma cried.
She tells the grandma I like him and like thanks
for bringing me here, and she's so the grandma is
just thrilled.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
And I think the grandma's just overly thrilled for two reasons.
One is that like her granddaughter likes someone. Two is
that it's.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Because of her, And three that the granddaughter told her.
I mean, I think as a grandma that that grandma's
just living her best life right there, even after her Like.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
There's something about the safety of Grandma because Grandma is
not going to be as weirried about it as mom is.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Yeah, and also, like the grandma, she's so stoked. Babie
Vadelia is like, doesn't get enough credit for how.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Good she is in this show.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
She's fantastic, really good, and she's so like there's something
about the way she looks, like so pretty but a
little messy, Like I.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
Don't know how to explain that. Yeah, Oh, they're so Berkeley.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
I love it.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
The house is so Berkeley. That part they get right.
They definitely get it wrong when they keep saying across.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
The Bay, like what no one says that, But otherwise
they are pretty good with the Berkeley sort of like
hippie toppy woo woe.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay, let's talk about Christina, because
this was another sort of like, oh, this was.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Heartbreaking, really rough, and you feel for and you feel
for the other mom and the whole thing, and I
just I don't know, as a parent, what would you do.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
It's a bit of an overstep.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Oh, it's a full overstep, yes, And we've had that before.
My kids aren't in the same situation the Max is in,
but we've had that where there's a party going on
and a kid isn't invited, or even just a sleepover
and the kids not invited and it's heartbreaking for them
and it's the end of the world for them, and so.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
It's a part of life.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
It is part of life. But you want to fix
it because you just want them to be happy. But yes,
fixing it. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
Thing is she cared way more than Max. I don't
know that Max really even cared or.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Does he and he's just not letting himself care.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Who knows. But she was so upset.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Yeah, and then happy ending right, she finally got the
then again the cringe when they cringe when confronted her.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
I'm glad she failed the first time because it would
have been to like Hollywood Magic TV if like it
worked the first time.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
The fact that she then went back again was so cringey.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
And you see her stiffened up the second time, like, okay,
that feels real.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
But I liked when she she said, have you not
done anything so like, you know, off the rails for
your kid, and the other mom's like, okay, I have
And then they were having a great old sushi time
drinking wine.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Yeah, and when she dropped the mother of an aspy kid,
that was, Yeah, that felt real.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Although no one calls it that anymore. There's some antiquated Yeah,
there's some real antiquated sort of sayings.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Interesting.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
Yeah, from what I know, from what I've researched and know,
they don't they don't say it like that anymore.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
But that's okay.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
I'm not an expert. Somebody could tell us. But yeah,
and Minka Kelly is real good.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
She was in for five seconds.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Yeah, but she's always good playing this part because you know,
we know that there's more coming with Manca Kelly.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Sure. Yeah. And then there's another frind night Light's connection
too with Mika Kelly.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah for sure.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Yeah. Sure.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
So let's talk about Joel and Crosby. This is a
storyline I could have almost done without.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
I'm like, okay, like Joel's getting way too irritated and storming.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Off, Yeah, and Crosby just making a lot of noise.
Like it's one thing if Crosby stepped in and actually
started to make it good, but he's not either.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
In kindergarten, Yeah, I love the kid, Jabbar's friend with
the glasses.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Yeah, and it's kind.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Of smart storytelling that Jabbar is now in school with
Joel and Julia's kid, whose name is also out of
my head.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Yeah, that's the hard part is remember all these names.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
I know, I blurn the characters and the actors' names.
It's fine, people can keep up.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
What is her name? Oh my gosh, Sydney.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Thanks. OK.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
But it's nice that we have all those little kids together.
So that's that's always you know, fodder.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
That's cute. Yeah, makes some fodder.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
But yeah, that was a little over the top for
me with Joel, Like Joel really year old?

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Is this was that a one off? Did that get
does that can did Joel versus Crosby? Does that continue on?
Or that?

Speaker 4 (15:51):
I think that's kind of I think that was a
one off. And did we have resolution for that either?

Speaker 1 (15:56):
No, he just stormed off and that was kind of that.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Yeah, And we didn't have a lot of Julia in
this episode, did we No?

Speaker 1 (16:03):
And she's one of my favorite characters on the show
me too.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
I really like her.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Yeah, she's really good.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
Yeah, I mean I think that because when they really
give us more Zeke and Camille, somebody kind of one
of the kids kind of has to get well.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
That was an issue with this show, right, that's such
an enormous cast that was becoming a very expensive show
for NBC to produce, and so you'd have.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Me with the salaries.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
I think so, because it's I never knew.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
That about this show. I just always knew that the
show always did only okay, and it was always on
the bubble. It was like coming back right.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
But critics loved it and NBC loved it, but nobody
ever watched it. Yeah, every year. It was scary.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Yeah, And I think I watched it.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
On DVDs or something like not like not far behind
when it aired, but I can't remember I actually watched
it like live on NBC or if I waited.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
It was so great and it's not one of those
shows and people talk about the great shows, you know,
deservedly making bad and everyone mentions the Wire and stuff
like that. I think Parenthood should be up there because
it's so funny.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
You say that I did too, and I forget about
it all the time. And I don't watch either of
those shows you said, But I say, West Wing, Sex
and the City, Walking Dead, Yes, Handmaid's Tale, some of these.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Parenthood is really really good.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
I agree, And it's so like underappreciated kind of it.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
It's been forgotten. I feel like I was very happy
to hear that you guys were going.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
To do this.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Well, we did a you know, we did a poll.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
We asked if they wanted us to watch masl or Parenthood,
and like it was like overwhelming Parenthood and I forgot
how good it is.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
I knew how good it was. This is the thing
Danielle loves. This is us, this is us.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
I had to stop because the crying was just too
much for me.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Doesn't that mean it's great? Like isn't that by definition?

Speaker 4 (17:49):
Like I had to take ad though, like I was
unwell after it, whereas this has little moments a little tear,
but I'm not like apoplectic or I'm just like later
on with Christina, I think I get a little more emotional.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, no spoilers.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
Is apoplectic the right word? I don't know if apoplectic
is the right word.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
That's a word I think I use incorrectly. That's plus
I think I also used nothing.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
Gosh, let's look at both and then we'll do a
little menopause.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
But one point, I was speaking of tears. I loved
when Amber warrens her dad, I think, don't cry if
you went well your mom, don't cry Sarah. Yeah, and
I've been on the other side of that so many
times when my kids say, Dad, I'm going to tell
you this, but I need you not to cry.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Definitely used apoplectic wrong. It means overcome with anger, extremely indignant,
where I sort of thought apoplectic meant like take to
the bed.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
So I definitely did that wrong. Well, I don't even
remember what I was talking about. Whoa, So this is
how was even using it?

Speaker 1 (19:00):
You said this is us? Would not you have to
add villain?

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Oh yeah, it wouldn't make me angry.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
I used to would completely incorrectly, it would make me
the bed.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
Trying to think of the word.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
You see what nonplussed means.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Nonplus I always use it like unimpressed, but I don't
think that's what it means.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Oh, not even close.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
It means surprised and confused so much that you are
unsure how to react.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Oh okay, what did you say, like?

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Unimpressed?

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Unimpressed? First of all, very hard to remember what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
We'll read it.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Let me tell you, doing two things at the same
time is not easy. I can also mean.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Unperturbed, not disconcerted, which is so like an oxymoron, not disconcerted.
Wouldn't that just be concerted, not unperturbed? Unperturbed?

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Doesn't that? What?

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Like?

Speaker 1 (19:57):
That's god? Am I?

Speaker 4 (19:59):
Okay, this is too hard for my brain. Apoplectic I've
really been using wrong.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
It's a good word, though.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
I didn't realize it was so so mad apoplectic. Yikes?
What is the meaning of the word apoplectic marked by anger? Wow?

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Yeah, well, okay, so we use education a.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Lot of words wrong. Let's do a little menopause.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Let's let's talk about menopause being able to not being
able to do two things at the same time and
quickly remembering something you or sorry quickly forgetting something you
just told me.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Wait, let me see if I can remember what you thought?
Nonplus was unimpressed.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
That's what I thought it was, Yes, very good.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
You know what's gonna happen now that forever I'll think
nonplus means.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Unimpressed unimpressed, because that's.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
What does it mean again? Do you remember uh stunned?

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Stunned like uh so surprised that you don't surprise and confused? Right?

Speaker 3 (20:59):
Wow, this is hard.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
This is a lesson and short term memory than I'm
not strong.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
So how long has peri menopause been going on for you?

Speaker 3 (21:07):
Oh it, we're way past peri menopause.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Oh you're you're, you're You've crossed the menopause.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Full post full post menopause. And let me tell you,
I thought Perry menopause was a breeze. I didn't notice
one thing except for like an occasional hot flash. But
then the day I hit menopause, it's just been a
complete Oh.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
I thought it was the opposite. I thought the worst
of it was the Perry. And then when you hit mena,
it's like you're past the point mark of difficult.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
People are different, all people are different. And uh, yeah,
Perry was a breeze for me.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
Now I'm menopause post menopause.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
And that's been tough.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
It's just not like I'm just like this is where
I'm getting some symptoms.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
I wouldn't call it a disaster.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
And how long does this go on?

Speaker 4 (22:00):
Say somewhere between like I don't know a year and forever,
but I don't know. Some things are somewhere ah year
and fever. I hear like two to six years.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Maybe, Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
But some people, Yeah, let's see how.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Because Perry can go for two to six years, right, correct?

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Oh, I had nothing there, This says menopause symptoms typically
last for several years. The duration is about seven years.
Let's do this one once.

Speaker 4 (22:29):
In postmenopause, how long do symptoms remain?

Speaker 3 (22:34):
And this is this?

Speaker 4 (22:35):
This is what I do every day just googling this
kind of stuff. Post Menopausal symptoms can continue for years,
but generally become milder over time. Though a small percentage
women experience of year symptoms around to fifteen years, most
women's symptoms decrease four to seven years. Seems to be
kind of coming up brain fog. This symptom often improves.

(22:58):
It is not a predictor of dementia, luckily for me,
because at least I know you said nonplussed, and I
know I said apoplectic. But if I was called to
find those, apoplectic means anger, nonplust means confused.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Got it? Wow? Well, I'm sorry you're going through this.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
What do you got anything? Is right?

Speaker 1 (23:18):
I got nothing. My wife is at the very beginning
of the journey, and she's she's concerned about the hot
flashes because she tends to run hot to begin with,
so that's her scariest part.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
So she's nervous about having hot flast.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
Yes, she hasn't had any yet.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Oh well she may not.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Well that'd be great.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
Yeah, and tell her this is the thing. This is
what you needed to tell her. Okay, worrying about it
is only going to make it worse.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
So so and telling someone not to worry about something
is like telling someone to be left handed when they're
right handed. But here's what I would say is they're
absolutely not that bad.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
They're absolutely fine. Get the fan going, turn the ac up,
have some ice water near you.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
You got it. That's it.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
That's the least of my.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
If I only had the hot flashes. I always feel
kind of like this, whoa, actually no, no, never dizzy.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Internally, it just feels like I'm not fully solid. I'm
never relaxed.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
It's like my shoulders are always attached to my ears
and then kind of like at night, findly I'm relaxed.
My voice is kind of raspier because I have no estrogen. Yeah,
I think it's only it's sort of I feel it.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Yeah, but it's sort of the I.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Feel like my blood.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
Okay, here's what the other thing I used to be
able to, like wake up eat a piece of Sea's
candy and be good for the day.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Those days are gone.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Like my blood sugar is always whack. Do yeah, I'm
not hair falling out. Some people have that.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
That seems to me.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Abundance of hair.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Yeah, thank you, I'm doing fine there.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
You know.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
It's like there's I guess I saw on TikTok or something.
There's one hundred different symptoms and I've probably got a
solid twenty of.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Them, and that's probably normal. Right, nobody can have a hundred.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
I think the people that have a hundred are very unhappy.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
I'm not that sure.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
But if your wife, this is what I think.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
I think it preys upon what you have. So if
you have inflammation kind of things, you're gonna have more.
If you have anxiety like I have, it's gonna skyrocket.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Right.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
But also, like the brain fog is not horrible for me,
but like if what I cannot do is fully do
two things at the same time, so like I'm reading
while you're talking, and then I could not remember one
thing you were saying and barely could remember what I
was reading. But then allegedly a lot of people can't
do that. But then what happens for me is then
I'm just so anxious, like all of a sudden, just

(25:50):
oh my god, nonplused apple pluck, Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Like just so anxious.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
They need to do menopause right in a show they
touched on it a little bit and and just like that,
but like, I don't think anyone's ever really nailed it.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Jeni McCarthy's writing a book on it though, Well that's nice. Yeah,
she's pretty funny she's writing. I keep seeing her on
TikTok saying, book on it.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
You need like a very funny like my wife when
she was pregnant, she read that book by Jimmy Ivian's
wife and it was called The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy
and it was very funny and it told you exactly
how it is. Yeah, no sugarcoating, and it was great.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
Jim MacCarthy's going to do that and then we'll make
a TV show maybe. So do you know about Danielle
in my podcast that's coming in twenty twenty six called Listen.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
If you Want? If you want to, Yes, Listening you Want?

Speaker 4 (26:34):
She was going to be to it very much about
television shows and menopause, like that's pretty much like if
you wanted the tagline for it, what are you with binging?

Speaker 3 (26:42):
And let's talk about menopause?

Speaker 1 (26:43):
And that's the beauty of podcast, so you can get
you can hyper focus on a niche group, and there
was an audience for that show totally.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
I feel like the more niche or niche I don't
know which it is you are, the better you'll do.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
I agree?

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Do you didn't rate this?

Speaker 4 (26:57):
We got a little sidetrack, guys, but it's the first time,
first time doing a parenthood with Mark and me, Mark
and me, yeah, me, yeah, uh what did we forget.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
About this episode?

Speaker 5 (27:07):
Now?

Speaker 4 (27:08):
I'm gonna give this episode at nine point five because
I really truly enjoyed it while watching it.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
But it's not as it's not such a standout to
me that I'm gonna give it a ten.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
What do you I agree? I might go a little lower.
I might going nine point two. I really liked it,
and a good sign is that I was surprised when
it was over. I was like, well, that was fast.
That's only a sign that that was really enjoyable forty
four minutes or whatever. Yes, So I'm going nine point
two on that one.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
Yeah, because it's not like the best best, and like,
there's some things that I'm not remembering and that's never
a good sign. Although I just, like I said, I
love that kid in the glasses that's friends with Jabbar.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
He's adorable, but.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Just great scenes, great acting.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
We've got some things getting set up too. We've got
Michael b Jordan and Hattie.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
Yeah, that's definitely gonna continue. And we know Billy Baldwin
is not long for this show.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
I think it only has a couple episodes left, so
that's going to have to play itself out, which I'm
not sure how they're going to do that. But yeah, it's.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
All good, solid episode. Really enjoyed it and looking forward
to next week, which is called Happy Thanksgiving, right something
like that.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
Oh well that's gonna be good. I feel like we're
gonna get that family together.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Whenever they're around that big table in the backyard. Good stuff.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Yeah, yep. And then how do we end this? I
think we say Braverman's out.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
That's what we're saying. As do that me or you
who gets the honor of saying.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
That, we'll switch it off? How about you say it
this time?

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Bravemen's out.
