Speaker 1 (00:00):
I Am All in again.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
I Am All in Town meeting with Suzanne French and
Tara suit An iHeartRadio podcast. Hey guys, welcome back to
another episode of I'm All in Town Meeting with myself, Tara,
and Susanne.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello, Hello, Okay.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Before we started recording, Susanna was like, guess what. I
went to Target and I bought the new Gilmore Girls
inspired dolls pillows, Like, how would you?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, they're like stuffed animals. I guess, Yeah, They're so
cute and they're super soft.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
There's a Luke's.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Cup, there's a Dozy's grocery store bag with like a
baguette and let us hang out at the top.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
And what is a sunflower?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Very cute?
Speaker 2 (00:59):
And then they're the gazebo as like a character form.
And at first I thought it was Taylor, Like literally,
I thought it was Taylor Jos.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
I was wearing a golf hat. I thought it was
related to golf. But then oh wait, it's like the hat.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
It's like the little hat that Rory wore, right she
went golfing with Richard Exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
That's what I thought it was at first, But it's
it's the gazebo and you can see like this is
the steps.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
I'm gonna say they took a little swing at it
and literally out of the golf hat it is.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yeah, it definitely.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
And then the last one that's questionable is the dragonfly.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
The dragonfly, I think when I saw these online, people
were like, is that an alien? For hep alien? I'm like, oh,
it kind of does look like that. Actually it looks
more like that than a dragonfly.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
We need, we need our social team to post like
little pictures of these on our on our social so
you can actually see what we're talking about. But yeah,
I kind of like all of them except the dragonfly.
His head is a little too big and flat.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
For my It's not really this isn't really what dragonflies
look like.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
I did the second you pulled it out when we
started recording, I said, oh it's the dragonfly just because
of the wings.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
It caught me.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
But they had like dragonflies have a long, skinny body,
and yeah, it doesn't really have that. I don't know.
I'll try, I can try to get some better pictures,
because your screenshots are gonna have my face in them,
which no one wants to see.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Either way, run to your local target and it's it's
in store only, right.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yes, they're not online and I it took me five
targets to find them.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Boy, can you do an in store pickup? Oh? I
don't know. Actually, you know, I'm gonna. I'm gonna do
that for myself.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Them on the app.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
So I'm gonna do that for myself before this airs.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Yeah, so I can get them before everyone runs the
target and doesn't in store pickup.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah. And I actually they come in a box. There
was a bunch of friends ones too, then I guess
came out previously, but they come in a box. I
have a picture of the box because I took a
picture of it on the shelf, so we can we
can put that out too. But there's when I was there,
they had one box and each box had two of
(03:15):
each stuffed animal.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
And the brand is called bum bum It's bum Bums
bum Bums.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, b U m b U m Z cute and
it's super cute. And they each one has like a sticker.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
That comes between that and the Funkos. Suzanne is way
ahead of us on our ordering. She's like, oh my
Funkos came in the mail too.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
I finally I do have more. I ordered the funkos
from two different places because I wanted to make sure
to get them. I do still have more coming, but
I have assembled a full set of the four of them.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Well, just so you know, when you look up bum
bums on the Target app, I forget that there's bum
bum cream like the Brazilian bumbum cream motion. There is
all so sunbum the sunscreen. I think you had to
dig a little bit on the app.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah, I can't remember what I may have looked under
Lukes because I was looking specifically for the Luke's coffee
cup and so I may have searched Lukes in the app,
but I can't. I can't actually remember.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
I was just excited to find them.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Anyway, Today we're talking about season two, episode fourteen, it
should have been Lorelai, which aired on February twelfth, two
thousand and two.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
What are your thoughts on the episode?
Speaker 3 (04:36):
You know, I liked it. Actually, I thought it was
a good solid It.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Wasn't bad, just my favorite.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yeah, it was. It was interesting. It was nice to
finally see Sherry.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
And she's annoying.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
She was she was a little intense.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Nicer than me.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
I was like's annoying, My husband watched it with me
last night and he said, Wow, she's even pushier than Max.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah. I have so many thoughts.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
First and foremost, I'd like to point out that we
did get the the clown pillow. Yes, and it is
behind Sherry when she's sitting on the couch at Loreleis house.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Just have to throw that out there before I forget,
because it was very top of mind.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
You know.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
I think that Christopher isn't the wrong for not mentioning
Sherry's coming. First and foremost, like, you need to mention
that it's your daughter's school event. It's not just a
random party. It's literally for Rory, So that should have
been mentioned.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
And that has been intentional, like, oh, I don't know,
I just said it. I didn't think about it. I'm like, no, no,
or Or it could have been if he made the
phone call and then decided after the fact Sherry's coming.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
It would have been nice to get a hey, heads up,
I'm going to bring Sherry. So if it didn't happen
during that initial phone call, maybe even if it's morning
of like if it was that last minute, you know, right.
The second thing I have to call out is is
this the first time we're hearing that Rory calls her
dad every Wednesday at seven pm.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
It might be Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
I was like, I literally.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Paused the episode and I was like, I have never
heard this reference unless it went right over my head
because Sherry, for people, if you missed this, Sherry says
he never misses a Wednesday seven pm phone call for Maury,
no matter what we're doing, and I'm like, well, I
guess we don't really know days of the week.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah, but it was I.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Feel like there was one time where we saw the
scheduled phone call, but I can't remember if that was
before or after this episode. You know, like you when
you've seen them all so many times, it's hard to
rect like what happened before?
Speaker 2 (06:51):
What? Well, when we first get introduced to Christopher, it's like, oh,
he's like deadbeat dad, he's never been here. And then
suddenly we're like, oh, they talk all the time, which
could have happened in the course of that year or
two since we first the audience was introduced to Christopher.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
But yeah, that was weird to me.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
My final note about Sherry is well, actually, no, I'm
multiple we can keep going, but the one I want
to call out is the very last scene where Laurel
I says, oh, like, thank you for this. I understand
where her head was at. I understand her realization. I
think it should have never been said out loud.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
With that said, Christopher's reaction was also he could have
kept that to himself and just been like, okay, it
was all just that all.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Could have been internalized and not spoken about.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yeah, I agree, And I actually I talked about this
with Scott because I did the recap with Scott on this,
and we we both said the same thing, like, she
should have just kept that inside her head and not
let it come out. Yeah, that's like a therapy session, right,
That's something that you would say to Suki. That is
(08:05):
not something that you say to Christopher. And she didn't
mean it in a bad way. She was just making
an observation about herself. And of course he completely took
it the wrong way. Yeah, and it just got worse
from there. And so I agree that she should never
have said anything to him to begin with. That's just
(08:25):
just don't say that to him.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Yeah, And then he.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Like he could have also not taken it the wrong
way and.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Made a whole scene at least diner out of it.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Yeah, because I was like, you know what, Laura, I
you seem to be connecting the dots.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
However, I wish this was a thought in your head.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yes, Like I'm not faulting her for realizing and faulting
her for anyway.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Right, But of course he's not going to be happy
about it. Like she basically just said, from what he
heard her say was you're the reason that I haven't
been able to, you know, engage in an adult relationship
this whole time.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Which honestly is probably true.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah, I mean it could be. And she did have trouble,
you know, when when Emily was confronting her in the
kitchen and she's like, you know, don't you still have
feelings for him? And she says that's not important right now.
You know, she probably still does have some feelings in there. Yeah,
But at the same time Emily had had said the
(09:30):
same thing about Luke and Laurela. I said, yeah, maybe
I have feelings. So I think Lorelai doesn't know what
she wants at this point.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
As the seasons go on, we realize she never knows
what she wants right exactly.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
But it's not necessarily that that sort of topic is
not really what you want to discuss with the object
of the thoughts, you know, So yeah, she should definitely
have not been saying that to him.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
She's between that. I hated that.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Christopher basically was like, oh, well, Rory can get out
of Friday night dinners when it's fine, and then like
Sherry brought that upon herself to be like, oh she
can get out of dinner, like it's not your place
like I had. You know, as we're talking this out,
I disliked this episode more than we started this recap.
She just bothered me because I was like, you're so entitled,
(10:22):
like you are literally just the dad's girlfriend. And then
suddenly she's like, oh, I'd love to see that house.
You are not getting invited to the Gilmour's house right right,
and if you think you're getting invited after.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
And she's telling Laura La, She's like, it's so important, Like, no,
it's not, You're not that important. I mean, yes, at
some point they would meet, you know, if this really
they've been living together for what they said, like eight
months now, so obviously it's a serious relationship. They would
have met at some points and they they're just a
(10:56):
couple hours away. They're just in Boston, so it's not
like she could just flown in from Alaska or something
and it's now or never. I mean, she may have
perceived it that way, but there would have been plenty
of other opportunities. She was really aggressive.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
They really should and it also should not have been
at Rory's school debate.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
It should have been like, Hey, I'm coming into town.
I'd love for you to meet Sherry. Let's do a dinner,
a coffee, whatever you'd like, and then right from there.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Also, I do think it's weird, and I I've never
dealt with this because my parents are still together, so
I've never had like a parent have a girlfriend or boyfriend.
But is it not weird that Cherry went with Rory
by themselves, by like without Like, I don't know, I
don't know the answer to that.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Probably not at Rory's age.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
That's true. I mean, she has a teen's she's older.
I get it.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
But I was just thinking, like, I don't know, I
don't know if I would want my kid to be
with my ex's girlfriend alone for the first time. It's
not every time. I'm just saying, like the first initial,
like dinner. Yeah, but or not with me, I'm saying,
like with her dad, like the dad.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
I think Christopher should have been there as well.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Yeah, it was a little weird that Sherry wanted to
get Rory alone. Yeah, but yeah, I don't know. I mean,
I didn't even think about that at the time, but maybe.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
That's kind of my rant on Sherry and Christopher.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
I had an interesting thought while I was watching the
episode because it struck me. I thought it was odd
that Richard and Emily weren't at the debate, because, yeah,
that's the kind of thing that they would have been
invited to, and we know they were both in town
because it was Friday and they went to their house
a couple hours later. Richard isn't working, so why And
(12:52):
then I started thinking, what if they That could have
been a really interesting scene if they had been at
the debate and that's where they saw Sherry. Ooh, you
picture like Emily and Sherry face to face, Like Emily
would have hit the roof.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Emily would have ripped her to shreds.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
Yeah, that would.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Have been a great see Susanne, if we could rewrite
this episode, you would be the script supervisor, the head
in charge writer.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
I mean obviously they they wanted to do it the
way they did it for for whatever reason. I guess
to have like a confrontation between Lorli and Emily, which
they could have done later because I can also see
Emily being polite into her face and then later like totally.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Dinner, just ripping her apart.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Yeah, but Friday night dinner was interesting as well.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Yeah, Emily, she just flies off the handle and overreads
everything like she it goes from zero to one hundred
exactly exactly. It's like they're having dinner and then all
of a sudden, I mean, Emily's like that woman doesn't
get her on the weekends, Like who's he? Where did
that even come from? But they just aret having dinner
like chill.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
But you know what Emily fashion, So she's kind of
she's kind of on point with her.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
She's consistent, That's what she is.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Yes, that is definitely true.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
I just have to call out.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
It was kind of funny, uh Lane being trapped and
then like calling the payphone and then like the the
what was it the CD exchange with like Michelle like
running in the gazebo. Also, I was like, how do
they how do they convince Michelle to that's.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Too because it's it's out of character for him. I mean,
I guess because Laura l I told him to and
she's his boss. Maybe I don't know, but it was.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
It was kind of out a character, I thought, But
it was I feel like he would say no.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
But yeah, yeah, the reason maybe because maybe because he
goes on a run. He's like, doesn't he usually go
on a run, like he works out, he's very healthy.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Yeah, probably part of his morning run.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
I also my husband actually noticed in the scene where
they where Rory was on the payphone and Lane was
looking at her through the telescope, there was when when
it was the close up shot of Rory, you could
see a lot of students in the background. There were
like four or five students walking around because it was
like right after school got out. They showed the shot
(15:23):
through the telescope. That was like the long distance across
the square. There was nobody else around. It was just just.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Wonder if it was a pickup, like all right, all
the extras are done for there.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Must have been like a I don't know if it
was a crane shot, but it was like a long
distance so it was probably like a different a different day.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Well, I didn't have any any callouts.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
I had a couple things. So you mentioned the clown
pillow and then also the cookie jar, and thank you
for everyone on Instagram reminded.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Me the Hallmark cookie jar.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
I knew that somewhere in the back of my head,
and I just can't remember her name.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
I think we had mentioned and Hallmark in the past.
We probably didn't mention her name is Maxine.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Yeah, I just remember. It was a whole series of
greeting cards. And she's like super sarcastic, sidic, and she
may even still be around.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
I haven't been, but thank you to the five hundred comments.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
So thank you for us. Now I will I sometimes
have trouble like remembering names, so I will try to
remember that Max Maxine like Max. I'll try to remember
it that way. There was a microphone that dropped.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
In two shots in which fun It was the last
scene where Sherry was in the diner and they were
saying goodbye and talking about the Friday night dinner, and
there was a microphone.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Super briefly, just barely pops into the shot above Sherry's head.
And then also on that scene, if you watch it again,
the way that the coffee cups and the fruit or
I guess it was cereal with fruit onut or something,
and the toast kept moving, and they must have put
(17:04):
at least five different takes together, because first of all,
it starts out the coffee cups. Lorelai has a coffee
cup and Rory has a coffee cup, and then Rory
leaves to go do whatever I think that was with
the Michelle thing. Then Christopher comes in and he's talking
to Larelai, and then all of a sudden, he's got
(17:28):
like Rory's cup disappears, and Christopher's got a cup in
front of him that came out of nowhere. And then
as the as the shots switch back and forth, Rory's
cup appears and it disappears and it reappears, and then
they must have done a hundred takes. They must have,
because the toast is facing a different direction and the
cereal bowl moving.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Unless between takes, someone was just messing with the table.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
That's my only other It.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Could be, yeah, or maybe they had to do a
pickup and shoot it on a different day, but maybe, yeah,
it was. It was funny, so yeah, but it was
I thought it was a pretty solid episode overall.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
I think the more we talked about it, I disliked
it more.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
The more we talk about it, the more annoyed I
am with Sherry. Yeah, for sure, but I still I
still liked the episode.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
It wasn't bad.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
I do have to call out someone on Instagram said,
referring to our last episode a couple episodes ago.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Suzanne.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Regarding the Suki and Jackson scene where they were eating
her picnic basket, Melissa McCarthy said an interview it was
filmed at night and the overhead lighting was so bright
she was having trouble looking at Jackson without getting blinded
by the lights.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
She said she was trying not to squint.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Oh, I didn't see that comment yet. Yeah, because we
were talking about how that scene was shot at night. Yeah,
lit to look like the middle of the day. That
would make sense because those lights would have to be
really bright. Yeah, So that's that's pretty cool. I hadn't
read that. That's that's good.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
There were there recently have been a lot of comments
on our posts, so we will try to We can't
get to all of them, but we will try to
like respond to whatever we can.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
So I've been trying to be better about checking Instagram
because sometimes I like, I'll see the notification when the
post goes up yeah but away yeah so, and then
I forget to go back and look at it when
people have actually cared. So I'm trying to be better
about that.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Well, we'll try.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
The next episode we're talking about is season two, episode fifteen,
Lost and Found Meeting adjourn a Kid. Hey everybody, and
