Speaker 1 (00:00):
I Am all in again. Oh, that's just you. I
Am all in Town meeting with Suzanne French and Tara

(00:21):
suit An iHeartRadio podcast. Hey guys, welcome back to another
episode of I'm All in Town Meeting with Myself, Bar
and Suzanne.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Hello.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello, Today we're watching season two episode nineteen, Teach Me Tonight,
which aired on April thirtieth, two thousand and two. Oh
an episode.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Yeah, this is one of those classic episodes that sticks
in people's minds.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
I think this season there's a lot of episodes where
I'm like, this happened in season two, like it seems
so early on.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yeah, there's really a lot of important points in season two.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Season two might be like the most now that I
anything about it.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, I agree, I agree.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Yeah. I had a few notes, I like I was
telling Suzanne. I wrote notes this time, like Suzanne. First off,
I had to look up there was a product placement
at Dozi's. Mmm. I didn't know what it was. Wilers.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Oh, I remember Wilers from being a kid. It's like
a it's a kool Aid. It's like a powder drink mix.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Okay, I googled it and the first thing that popped
up was ice pops. Oh so unless they have like
a spinoff of different things. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Maybe I didn't even realize they were still around because
I that's a name I remember from the seventies.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Well, I don't know if they're still around now.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
This was yeah, yeah, it's true twenty five years ago.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Also in Dozies, there was a guy in the back
who was holding like one cucumber. He was just walking
out with like one cucumber.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
That's funny.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
There was a lot happening in that story there. It
was a busy morning, it dozes.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Yeah, there was. There was definitely a lot going on.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Yeah, well it was towards the beginning. But the phone rang
and it was six forty five on a Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Mm.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Did you catch that? No, six forty five on a Wednesday,
Christopher's calling. So they did. They did finally from the
stuff with what's his girlfriend's name, Cherry Cherry from when
Cherry was in town, and they said that they call
every day. I couldn't remember the exact time, and I
didn't have the chance to go back, but they brought

(02:36):
it back around that she he calls her Wednesdays at
six forty five.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yeah, okay, Well that was good.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
At least they have followed up with it.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, it doesn't always happen in this show.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
So that's good.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
I catch that.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
But that's a good point.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
I like perked up. I was like, oh, five, But
then I was like, was it five thirty or was
it six forty five?

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Yeah, I want to say it was seven that they
had mentioned, but you know, six forty five is close enough.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yeah, close enough. He maybe had plans.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Very good, I wanted to point out. So I'm kind
of jumping around here, but before I forget in the hospital.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
So first of all, Stars Hollow has a hospital, apparently.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Because Stars Hollow Hospital. But the doctor he has kind
of a distinctive face. He's got like kind of a
pointy chin and kind of a pointy nose, and so
I looked him up on IMDb.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
He was actually he was in a season.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
One episode, so I think maybe my brain kind of
recognized him. He was the waiter then independence in waiter
in the episode where Suki had the risotto that the
food critic like and so she's like making like a
gazillion more batches of it, And so he was the
waiter there was in the kitchen at the Dragonfly and

(03:54):
he asked Lauraai, He's like, can can I be fired now?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Or something like that?

Speaker 1 (03:57):
So oh funny, Yeah, he's a doctor. He moved up,
I know, right in just a year he became a doctor.
Speaking of well, while we're there in the hospital, I
did have a question. So I've had my fair share
of x rays. It did not take hours or an hour.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Yeah, I noticed that. I thought that same thing too,
him like.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Well, that's why I was like I wrote it down
because I was like, Susanna works in the medical field,
so I didn't ask her. But you know, when I
broke my ankle last year, yeah, I went to the doctor,
well right away, I went to urgent care. The X
ray process took maybe five minutes. Yeah, but like I
was waiting there for an hour. But when he comes

(04:43):
to be like, oh it's gonna be like an hour
or I was like, an X ray does not take
an hour.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
I noticed that too, and I thought, well, depending on
how busy they are, they might it might have to wait.
And also because they had already done all of that,
but Laureline made them do it again, so it's probably
not going to be super high on their priority list.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
That's true, they're like the X ray somebody.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
That's already been x ray, Like they're gonna take other
people first.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Which speaking of like this night time situation while we're here.
So when they're joking about like, oh, like you know,
did you wake up Taylor, and it was like she's like,
oh no, like it was after nine. Yeah, when we're
then when Laurea lies at Luke's and they're talking, there

(05:33):
were a lot of people walking outside of Stars Hollow
at yeah what seems to be midnight, right.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Yeah, diner. The diner was already closed.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
And there was like three people walking on the street.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah, there's like people milling around. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
I guess, you know, I actually Stars Hollow somewhere.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
I actually did go back because I had to make sure.
Rory said after nine, it was after nine when she
was the car accident happened. Now she's getting her cast,
it's at least at least eleven pm.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Yeah, that's true. And where was Luke because he wasn't
at the diner.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
When was he?

Speaker 3 (06:18):
No, because the diner was already closed. But she bursts
in and I can't remember where Luke came from. Now
I know I should have rewatched that that part, but yeah,
that's a good point.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yeah, I was like, there's a lot happening. Speaking of Luke's.
Did you notice what they were eating when they were
sitting at Luke's at the at the counter?

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Oh was that when they were eating fruit?

Speaker 1 (06:42):
I'm pretty sure it was fruit with jello.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Oh okay, because it was. I noticed it was something.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
It was like I thought it was like raspberries and blueberries, because.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
It was like maybe it was to me because I
even said to.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
My husband, I'm like, are they eating fruit?

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Well, that's why I was like, because they don't eat fruit.
I thought it was jello with fruit. It was kind
of like a cheat way of doing it.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Yeah, that would make more that would be like more consistent.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
And then part of me was like that kind of
sounds good with some cool whip. It does jell fruit
and cool.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
I like orange jello, orange.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
I love a good red Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
I just yeah, Jello was always I always associated with
being sick, because that's really the only time I ever
eat it is when there's like for some reason I
can't like that's so funny, you know, like if I'm
not feeling well or.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
I feel like I associate it with like school, like camp,
or like being a kid, like being in like a
lunch box like cool, like a cool lunchbox.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
I was just gonna ask what you thought of Lorelei's
reaction to the whole thing and the way she flipped
out on Luke.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
I don't think it was fair to flip out on
Luke because he had no control of it. Yeah. Also,
like Luke does nothing, but he does something but take
care of people, and she knows that, and so I
think she took his like kindness and just threw it
down the drain. Yeah, because at the end of the day,

(08:12):
it's it was his nephew, right, Like if Laura I
gets into arguments with her parents, but then in the
day she still loves her parents, right, kind of not
really the same, right, but it's still Luke's family, And I
don't think it's fair to speak to someone about their
family member like that.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
I think Luke was in a bad spot because he
has loyalty to both Rory and Jess. They were both
in the accident. Like, he doesn't know even where Jess is,
so I mean we know that just isn't in the hospital,
so he couldn't have been hurt that seriously, but I
think Laura I was. I think she was just lashing
out because she dislikes Jess so much and she just

(08:52):
like latched onto Luke and just let him have it.
But I thought that wasn't right. I that it wasn't
Luke's fault if the accident happened, you know, just because
he let Jess come stay.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
With him like that.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
The whole thing I thought was unfair and Laurela was
way over the top. It also bothered me as a parent.
It bothered me that she left Rory at the hospital.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Hospital Luke, Okay, I was thinking the same thing on
top of people walking around at Stars Hall at midnight.
I was like, she's in the hospital still getting tests,
and you just left her there right right.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
And I think that's part of why the doctor it
was just a plot device when the doctor told her
it was going to be an hour, because she gets
a look on her face and that's when she decides
she's going to go look for Jess.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Oh, because she's like, I have to sit in the
way right She's like.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
I have an hour, I'm gonna go. I'm going to
go try to find him, So I think that might
be where that came from. But still I would not
leave my kid, even even sixteen seventeen year old kid.
I would not leave them in the hospital, by them
in the er, by themselves to.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Go yell, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
I thought that was also I like, as someone who
just broke a bone a year ago, when I went
to the emergency room, my dad took me because I
couldn't drive because it was my right foot, and he
sat the whole time with me. So it's, you know
exactly like also would go with it, whether it be
like a friend who's my age, or whether it's my
parent that I'm going, I wouldn't leave.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Well, and that's the other thing too, is Jess could
have stayed with her too, And that was the other
thing that bothered me was that it made Jess look
really bad.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
That he left. Well, yeah, I was thinking the same
thing because then when I saw he was just sitting
at the lake. If he if he fled down, then
I would have been like, okay, makes sense. But the
fact that he was just down the street sitting.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah, like I'm sure he was trying to avoid Laurel,
like he knew that she was gonna flip out.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
I don't think it was just Laurel. I think it
was the whole town.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yeah, that's true, but it just made him look even
worse that he didn't stay with her.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Definitely.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
The other note I had was there is a very
viral TikTok moment in this in this episode.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
I'm not even very very rarely.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
It was so big about like six months ago. Yeah,
you know when they're playing Kirk's movie Yes, and he
says I love your daughter, and he goes, what do
you have to offer? He's like nothing, and then like
there was like a so that piece was like mixed

(11:43):
with someone's song, like an actual artist song, and then
it was like supposed to be like a stupid dance
after like that was the trend. And literally like that
Kirk dance moment was one of the biggest viral TikTok moments,
like awesome, and so when I it was so funny
because when like the short film started, I was like, oh, yeah,
short film, Kirk's weird movie. And the second like it

(12:06):
went to like remember because in the short film they're
outside of the house and they go in. Yeah, the
second they entered the house, I was like, oh my god,
this is the episode.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Funny I missed that one that's hilarious.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Oh my god, it was so funny. But yeah, I
was like I had There was so much to happen
in this episode, and the fact that like the viral
moment came from this big of an episode just made
me laugh because usually it's like hidden in some like
right random episode, not like when Roy breaks her arm. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Yeah, And speaking of Kirk's film, So, the the guy
that played the father in Kirk's film, he's gonna show up.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Again next season.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
He's the pizza guy when they make the big the
Giant Pizza Giant Birthday. And so I I think, I mean,
it could just be a case that Amy Sherman Palladino
liked to work with the same people, and so there's
multiple times where she casts the same actor in different roles,
like the doctor guy. So she probably just you know,

(13:06):
cast him as the dad in the film and then
he comes back later as a different character. But in
my mind, the way it works is that Kirk hired
the pizza guy to be in his film. That's how
it works inside my head.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
I mean, honestly, there's probably some underlying stuff in there.
I will say. I also work on the Boy Meets
World rewatch podcasts, and there's a lot of actors that
have been on as multiple characters, and they always hit three,
and they the actors on the show have talked about
after that, if you're on a show more than three times,

(13:43):
you have to be I think you have to be
considered reoccurring.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Oh yeah, So sometimes.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
It's the reason why they stop at like three, okay,
or it's something else where. It's either it's either considered reoccurring, no,
not reoccurring. I think it's that they have to like
something with SAG. It's some SAG rules, But there is
a reason why, like after three, Oh, they don't show.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
Up anymore interesting, I think.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
But then again, Boy Met World was in the nineties,
so this could be different. I don't know. Yeah, it's
two thousand and two. Do we have anything else? I
don't have any more notes on this episode, you know.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
The only other thing I have and this is something
that probably our listeners will we want them to weigh
in because I don't have the answer. So at the
end of the episode where they're at the movie, like
the very very end, and Babett and mss Patty are
talking about how Jess is gone, and like right before

(14:43):
the credits roll, they both do some weird gesture with
their hand, like a scooping gesture, and they both do
it simultaneously, and I don't know what that means, Like,
are they like throwing him away like they're because they're
talking about how just left and they're glad he's gone,
and then they make this weird like.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
I did not notice that.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah, so everybody watch it and tell us what you
think that was, because I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
I don't know what to make of it.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
I wonder if it was like an inside joke and
they like it made it into the cut.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Yeah maybe, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
The camera like definitely stayed on them while they did that,
and then it panned back to Laura I and Rory
and you see that they were like listening to that
conversation and then it goes to black. So I don't know,
tell us what you think it's so funny?

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Is I do remember the scene. I specifically remember watching
Laurel I and Rory's face after hearing it, but I
did not pay attentions about that miss Patty. That's so funny.
I also didn't have any like, nothing stood out to
me because we were in so many not normal are
normal places that Yeah, there was no clown pillow.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Yeah, we didn't see the clown pillow. We had to
see Christopher. That was unfortunate.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
He was annoying to me.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
I didn't He was like, I'm going to take care
of the insurance and I'm going to talk to the doctor.
It's like he's gonna come in and be the man.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Of the house.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
But he doesn't. It's this isn't when he has money
yet right now we haven't gotten there. Yeah, so it
was just annoying. Also, he scared the crab out of
me when he was just sleeping.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Oh my god, I would have screamed. I would have screamed,
what the hell.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
You don't when I was watching it and it panned
over and I'm like, who's this man that? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:26):
I really can't stay Yeah, when.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
I got all right, all right, Well, next week we're
going to talk about season two, episode twenty help Wanted
