Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in again.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Oh, i's you.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
I am all in town meeting with Suzanne French and
Tara suit An iHeartRadio podcast. Hello and welcome to another
episode of the Stars Hollow Journal.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
This is Tara and.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
I just went back to Stars Hollow at the Warner
Brothers lot yesterday. Actually I was going to record this
in Scott's trailer, but it started raining and I think
I got a little bit of a cold after going out.
But you know it is recording this on January third,

(00:51):
and let me tell you, I wish that Stars Hollow
at Warner Brothers could be there forever. This was my
second time going back this holiday season. I went by myself.
Actually my friend couldn't make it, and I was like,
you know what, it's fine.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I woke up early, I.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Made a cup of coffee at the house, and it
wasn't supposed to rain yesterday, so I was like, oh,
this is the perfect day to go. I got there
at about let's see, it was probably like nine thirty
and the line was pretty long.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
To get it. I'm not gonna lie, and I just
want to give you guys kind.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Of like a step by step of what the process
is like to go to stars Hollow for those who
couldn't make it, or if you're listening and you could
make it, then I guess this just sounds redundant, but
everyone has their own experiences.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
But you get to the Warner Brothers lot and you
get into this line.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
You go through security, and I've never done it before
where you can skip the tour, so this was I
think this is a new feature that they added this year,
so you don't have to just do the whole tour.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
You can go straight to.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Stars Hollow, but that obviously makes a bigger crowd, so
you're waiting in this line. I went to a separate
room and they had shuttles that would just take you
to star As Hollow. And there's something about Gilmore Girls fans,
and I'm sure people listening you could attest to this,
but I just feel like we all know each other

(02:20):
even though we don't, but because we share this common
love for this show and these characters, it's just kind
of like you just kind of start chatting with people
and we get on this shuttle and the driver. It's
funny because now I'm wondering if they had Warner Brothers
had everyone do this, But as we're driving, they're like,
all right, so who's excited blah blah blah cheering in

(02:42):
the shuttle and they're like, okay, who's team Dean and
poor Dean? No, no chance, Who's team Logan. We got
a couple here and there, and then we got a
Who's Team Jess? And everyone's chanting in our in our shuttle.
But it's just so funny because before you even step
on to the set, you were just like embraced with

(03:04):
the Gilmore Girls, love and all of that.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
So we get there, we get dropped off.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Where you get dropped off is kind of by it's
right by laurel Ize House and the independence in and
there's like an information booth. So I went and got
my stars Hollow Gazette, the special newspaper they had for everyone.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
And it's funny.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Because I was in line and you could tell it
was really early because the girl behind me, she's like,
is this the line for the gazebo? And I'm looking
and it's like, it looks like a gazebo, but like
a miniature version. I was like, no, the gazebe's over there,
and she was so embarrassed, and I felt so bad.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
But everyone's just so excited. You don't know where to look.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
But so at this information booth you can go get
the gazette. It's free, but then you can also pay
to do a scavenger hunt. I didn't do it just
because I didn't know how much time i'd have. I
also just yeah, I just didn't know if I have time.
I thought it more fun to do it with someone.
So maybe if I go back next year, if they
do it, I'll do it with a friend. And then

(04:06):
I just kind of wandered it was. It was kind
of nice that I had been there before, and I
feel like it's a common thing that everyone has said
who goes, They're like, oh, yeah, I just came back
just to like enjoy the ambiance.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
I'm like totally.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
So I right next to the information booth was a
little coffee stand, and I'm not the biggest coffee drinker,
but I will have a coffee from here and there.
But the line was really relong, so I was like,
all right, I'm just gonna keep.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
On mosing around.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
So I went to the dragon Fly in and there
was a guy at the front desk who was he
was the perfect Michelle, like, I can't explain it. But
when we went with Amy, there was a woman standing
there and she was fantastic.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
She was so great. But this guy, it was so funny.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
He we were all walking in and it was like
the earlier crowd stills people are like waiting for their
reservation or like me, I just went into the little
store Dragonfly. This man he's not talking to anyone. He's
just giving everyone dirty looks. And it was hilarious, like
he just he would give you this like the way
Michelle gives you, like this side eye.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
It was so funny. So anyway, I went into the store,
looked around a little bit.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
The thing I didn't see the first time I went
was I did not know that they were selling a
vinyl of Gilmore Girls soundtrack, which I had no idea
was even a thing, and so I like, I was like,
oh my god, this is like I need this as
someone who loves music, and also just the music of
Gilmore Girls is very nostalgic, so I was like, I

(05:37):
need this. And I didn't know up until this point,
but there were two different versions. So at the Dragonfly
they had a Dragonfly in cover and then eventually later
on in the day, I went into like the big store,
and they were like, oh, there's a Luke Steiner one,
So of course I had to get both. So I
have two of the same vinyl, but they're different styles,
so that separates it.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
But after the Dragonfly, I kind of just wandered around.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
I want to take some photos, and then I went
to Weston's Bakery.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
The line for Luke's.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Now, let me tell you, the line for Lukes was
about They said seventy five minutes and or you could
do a QR code where you can come back. It
was at this point it was ten am. The comeback
for Luke Steiner. The fast pass was at six thirty.
I was like, as much as I love this show,

(06:31):
I will not be here until six thirty.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
By myself. There's no way I could say here all day.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
And I really wanted to go to Luke's, but I
instead pivoted and I went to Weston's Bakery, which it
was so like small town vibes.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
And the thing that I love.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
That they added Weston's Bakery this time is you can
actually sit inside Weston's and enjoy it. And as much
as I love Luke Seiner, they did it perfectly. I
just wish you could sit in Luke's, and I totally
understand why you can't because the traffic flow and there
is insane. But so I went over to Westons and

(07:06):
I got a hot chocolate. Now they have a candy
cane hot chocolate that I had last time, but I
was in the mood for.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
A regular hot chocolate, so I got my regular hot chocolate.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
I got this s'mores bar that Amy was raving about
when we went, and when I went to go get
it later on in the day, the first day of
the opening day, it was sold out. So I got
my Smores bar, and let me tell you, Amy was right.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
That thing is.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
I didn't finish it, which was nice because I got
to bring it home and finish it later at night
with tea.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
But it was so good.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
But so I sat down with my hot chocolate and
with my Smores bar inside Westons, and I was like
answering emails because I had like it was kind of
a work day, and so I was like answering emails
and for a second I forgot where I was, and
then I looked up and saw people in like they're
you know, the girls, but they're like Lorelei Rory outfit

(07:54):
and the men and they're like Luke Outfit and I
was like, oh my god, I'm in Star Hollow and
everyone was just so nice. I also have to say
a huge shout out to everyone working at Warner Brothers
who was just so lovely, from the people at the
Weston's Bakery to just someone who I met who was
I didn't know where I was going.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
I had a question about something and she just answered
my question.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
And everyone is just so kind, And you can tell
a lot of these people are Gilmore Girls fans, so
they're having fun, but also if they're not, they're learning.
Like when I was buying the second vinyl, the Luke's
Diner vinyl from the merch store, I could tell that
the guy behind the register was like not a big

(08:38):
Gilmore Girls fan, like he didn't grow up with it
like some of us did, or he didn't binge it.
But the one thing he said to me was I'm
really grateful to be working here because on my lunch
break I get to just go try the foods around here.
And I was like, that is so freaking cool, Like
I wonder what their life is on a normal day
where they're just going to do the studio tour, and

(09:00):
that's still so cool, but to take it out of
the element during the holiday season and go to like, oh,
I'm doing a lunch break and Stars Hollow, that is
so cool. After I went to Weston's, I decide I

(09:20):
need to hit all the stores again because I love
my shopping. And I tell you, the first time I went,
I panicked because I was afraid that by the time
I come back, the merch will be gone. Let me
tell you, they fully stalked, re stoked everything, and there
were some items that I did not see on the
first day that I saw yesterday and I was like,
oh my god, I've spent so much money here. But

(09:42):
the first time I went, I bought I bought a
Star's Hollow hat, like a corduroy hat, and then I
bought this Luke's rain coat. And it's so funny because
I know I mentioned it in the episode we did
at the lot all of us. Let me tell you
that raincoat has come in handy because the last two
weeks in Los Angeles has been nothing but rain. And

(10:07):
I have a new puppy and potty training. A puppy
in the rain is by far one of the most
difficult things I've ever done, because he was basically potty
trained and then the rain started and now he's back
to p pat So anyway, sidetracking over here, but that
raincoat is coming handy because I've been going outside with
the puppy in my Luke Signer raincoat and it goes

(10:28):
like past my butt, so it like actually covers. And
I was walking down my street with the dog and
someone was like, oh my god, I really like your raincoat.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
I'm like, thanks.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
I got it from the Gillmore Girls studio tour thing
at Order Brothers. It was pretty funny, but let me
tell you that raincoat came in handy.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
But they still had that.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
They actually had a lot on display and I can
only imagine they sold a lot with people going in
the rain. And then I so I want to bought
some merch. I went to the video store again. I
am regretting not buying Gilmore Girls Monopoly and Gilmore Girl's
Trivial Pursuit.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Now.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
I love a game night. However, I have not had
a game night in probably ten years. So I was
trying to be responsible and be like, you're not going
to use it. But then I left, and I completely
regretted not buying it, So I may need to find
it at the Warner Brothers lot if they have it
in like a store that I can go to, because

(11:27):
I don't know, like I have these classic Monopoly games
like no one else has, and I just feel like
in twenty years, I'm going to look back at it
and be.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Like, oh my god, like the Gilmore Girls one.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
So I may need to go back. But there's just
so many There's so many goodies there. And I went
into Dozy's and I actually think okay. So also because
I went in the morning, I wasn't that crowded, and
I feel like I got to see every nook and
cranny of everything except Loralized House, which that line was

(11:57):
very long, and I was like, I've already seen it.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
I don't need to wait in it again.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
But let me tell you, I think the most detail
oriented of all the locations in my opinion that was
like to a tee was Dozie's Market and everything down
from like the angle.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Of the cash register to.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Like it was wild because I know that like Luke's
is the exact same. But I think maybe because I
got to walk around in Dozes a little bit more
and the details of like the Dozies baskets that you
could buy and they say Gilmore Girls, and you can
buy the tin of corn starch. And then they had
like all these gummy bears and stuff that I was like,
oh my god, Lorlon Rory would so eat all this

(12:40):
for a movie night. The attention to detail is just like,
I mean, I can never shut up about it.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
It's so it's so amazing. And then I just kind
of kept walking around.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
I went to the Star's Hollow Bookstore, I went to
missus Kim's Antiques, and then I by that time, I
think it was like eleven thirty, and I was like, Okay,
I'm kind of hungry. I could go get food somewhere,
or I can go to Owl's Pancake World, which had
the honestly some of the best Chinese food. I would

(13:14):
love to know who the vendor was for this, because
it was those potstickers were really good. So I went
into Owl's and the inside of Owl's Pancake World I
didn't get to go in the first time. The way
they actually made it like a Chinese restaurant was just
so Again, the detail was so amazing, and so I
got my Chinese food and my diet coke, and I

(13:34):
sat outside of Owl's and I just watched the ambiance
and then I literally took the last bite of my rice,
and a drop of rain just like fell on my
cellphone when I was looking at it, and I texted Susanne.
I was like, se say it in a Year's like, oh,
not eight. I'm forty minutes away. And I realized I like,
I'd been there all day, and I was like, I
kind of have to go. I had errands to run.

(13:56):
Even though I wish I could have SAYD I also
wish I don't know if you can do this. I
don't you can, but I wish you could leave and
come back because I would have done that one hundred
times over. But I had other things to do, unfortunately.
So I texted Suzanne. She's like, I'm still forty minutes away,
and I was gonna record this episode in Scott's trailer,
but the rain started and I was like, I need

(14:17):
to get to my car. So I started like power
walking to the shuttles to take you back, and people
who had been there in the morning were kind of
doing the same. So the rain definitely got us. I know,
I saw a video and social of Scott going out
in the rain, which I have to give Scott so
much credit for being there every single day.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
And the thing about it is Scott.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Genuinely loves doing this and you could see it and
he's so passionate about it and he just loves meeting
every fan.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
And you know, I was talking to my friends about
it not too long ago.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
But I don't know any other show where a nostalgic
show that I love growing up, that there are actors
on the show who love the character I think as much.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
As Scott loves Luke.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
And it's so special and it's like Kilmore Girls is
just it's it has such a warm place in all
our hearts and the fact that Scott embraces that with
us is just so special.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
So I have to give him a hue chow.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
He's been there every day basically since No, not basically,
he has been there every day since it started, and
you know, it's just very special to watch. But I
got on the shuttle back to go back and I
was talking to a lady who she was by herself,
so she's like.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Oh, are you by yourself? I was like yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
I was like, just my friend couldn't come, and I came.
She's like, oh, this is my second time. She's like,
it was my daughter's Christmas gift to come. And she
said that they did Friday night dinner. They were there
on the second day and they did Friday night dinner.
I can't remember what she ordered she told me, but
she said the food for Friday night dinner was amazing,
and I instantly regretted not signing up and getting the

(16:03):
package for Friday Night dinner or the tea at the Dragonfly.
It was funny because she told me she wanted to
do the tea, but her daughter wasn't a big tea person,
and so they decided to do food, so the Friday
night dinner. And I was like, you know, well maybe
next year, but I would love for them to bring
that back, and I would love to do both the
tea and Friday Night dinner because again, the attention to

(16:26):
detail with all of this, like watching the Warner Studio tour,
evolved over the years, and this is a tour that
like I remember going to when I was like in
high school, and I loved I loved movie sets, I
loved TV sets like I've I've always been so passionate
about behind the scenes that like I would just go

(16:47):
on the studio tour with like anyone who was in
town or who'd want to go. And I think I
did it, like, oh, I don't know, like ten times
in my life. But the way it's of and the
way they've added these details and like it's a movie
set right, like it's Warner Brothers a studio lot, and
they have all these things that they can dress up

(17:08):
these sets and the fact that they do it for
fans is just it makes it so special. I also wonder, like,
as someone who also watched prel Liars if you are
a fan of pre Liars as well, that Stars Hollow
is also where Rosewood was, And so I wonder if
there's a world where they would also flip it around

(17:28):
and do like another set. The only other show I
think would make sense there, in my opinion, is pre Liars.
But what if there's like a sound stage where they
could dress up you know, like it would be so cool.
But anyway, I literally got to my car when the
rain started dumping, and so I was like, oh my god,
all this poor people a stars Hollow, But stars hollow

(17:50):
and the rain is pretty pretty special. And then I
came home and I my parents were sick and I'm
getting a little bit of a cold and it's raining
in Los Angeles and I'm home today and we start
back work on Monday. But I'm just so grateful to
have been able to go to the lot and to

(18:10):
do the event we did. And I just have to
say to all the people who came out that first day,
it was so it was so much fun.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
It was so special, and it's so funny.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Because, like I always say that, I love when no
one recognizes me from.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
The podcast, like Amy. Amy's like, oh my god, everyone
said hi. I'm like, oh my god.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
I get a little like, I don't know, I'm so
behind the scenes, and I get a little like.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Shy's not the right word. I get a little like, oh,
you listen to this show? So yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
I it was just it was just such a special experience.
And you know, I have so many friends who were like,
oh my god, I wish I knew about her. I
wish I like could go, And all I keep saying is, well,
fingers crossed they do it next year, because you know,
we never know. There was one your Warner brothers didn't
do it, and so I think if if Warner does
it again next year and you have the chance to go,

(19:04):
I highly recommend it, because you know, I always think
things may not be forever. Obviously, this was above and
beyond for the twenty fifth anniversary.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
I hope they keep it up.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
I know it's not easy and people work very hard
to get it together, but it's very special. It's a
very special experience. And I'm gonna go on my couch
right now and I'm gonna binge film Wore Girls. I
try not to do it when Suzanne and I watch
these episodes because then I feel like I'm getting ahead.

(19:38):
So I don't know where I'm gonna start, but I'm
gonna watch some episode. Sorry Suzanne, I'm getting ahead of us.
But anyway, thank you guys so much for listening. I
can't believe I talked by myself for this long. I
love to yeap.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Anyway, Thank you guys, and we'll see you next time.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
