Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in I Guess You Stars Hollow Style
with Easton Allen, an iHeartRadio podcast. Hi friends, Hi, It's

(00:24):
Easton Allen. This is Star's Hollow Style, but I don't
need to tell you that. You can see it on
your screen. Thanks for joining us, Thanks for clicking play.
We're gonna have a lot of fun. Okay. I want
to just get right into this. I don't want to
waste any time. I'm too excited, but I don't want
to catch anyone off guard. I just want to make
sure you know what you're getting yourself into. Okay, consider
this a spoiler alert. This is what we do here.

(00:44):
We're going through Gilmore Girls. Every episode we're talking about
the fashion. We're not talking about the acting. We're not
talking about the writing. We're talking about the fashion, the clothes,
the shoes, the jewelry, the hair. Why not. We're talking
about the stuff you can see that people wear on
their bodies and they put it on screen and we

(01:05):
talk about it. This is a fun show. We're having
a lot of fun. This week. We're talking about season one,
episode fourteen that damn Donna Reed. Oh man, Okay, I
just watched this episode like I'm fresh off watching it.
There are some outfits in this one. If you are
listening to this podcast, you are a fan of Gilmore Girls,

(01:25):
you know what I'm talking about. There is one that
we are going to build to and I'm not gonna
talk about it yet, but there's one that I really
really like. I'm just gonna leave it there. Let's get started. Okay,
we're gonna go through this kind of scene by scene.
We're gonna talk about my favorite outfits, and then at
the end, we're all gonna get together as a class.

(01:46):
We're all going to join hands, and we're gonna talk
about our favorite and least favorite outfits. Does that sound good?
Everybody say yes? Okay, that sounds great. Let's get started.
Dean comes over to the Gilmore House with pizza and
salad to meet Rory and Lorlei to watch Donna Reid

(02:07):
on TV. This is nothing too remarkable about the outfits
in this scene. However, I need to point out lorle
I mean Lorlei is the star of this show. This,
I mean, this is a show about Laura and Rory. Obviously,
Lurlei gets the most interesting outfits episode after episode. That's

(02:28):
just how it is. She can wear the craziest outfits
you've ever seen. She can just wear a regular graphic
tea Laura like Gilmore has range. So in this opening
scene here where they're sitting on the couch, Lorla is
wearing a like red a raglin shirt. It's like a
baseball tea and it's got red sleeves and then big

(02:51):
block red lettering. I'm like a god almost like a
gray or like a light blue background, but the lettering
reads heavy metal rules. I thought this shirt was awesome.
I thought I liked it. I liked it a lot.
You can get a duplicate of this shirt. Okay before
I get into that. Sorry, there, I couldn't find any

(03:11):
evidence that this is a shirt that exists in nature.
This seems like something that was maybe made for the
show or they found or they found it somewhere. I
cannot find anything of this shirt other than its relationship
to Gilmour Girls. So that being said, you can get
a dupe of this on two different places. Get a

(03:32):
pen dressingfestive dot com, which appears to be a small
women owned business. We love supporting that dressingfestive dot com.
Or there's an Etsy site gg inspired lifestyle. I wonder
what GG stands for. If you know, let me hit
me up gginspired lifestyle dot ets dot com. They both

(03:56):
have duplicates of this heavy Metal Rules shirt, and I'm
so curious. Like some of Lourai's outfits, they lead me
to so they give me so many questions. This is
another one of those. I want to know. How did
Laura get this shirt? Did she just did she find
it in the rummage sale from last episode? Did a
boyfriend leave this at her house? What is going on

(04:18):
with this shirt? Does she like heavy metal? Does heavy
metal rule? Does she think heavy metal rules? That makes
me happy? I like heavy metal. I'm a metal guy myself.
I'm a hard rocking badass. So seeing Lourle I agree
that heavy Metal Rules made me happy. Maybe like her more.
I think it's really exciting. But just little clues about Lorale.

(04:42):
How we interpret this shirt, It's up to you. Now.
Let's get to Friday night dinner. Rory is wearing this
really great red cardigan, so cute and Emily. We love
Emily's styles at these Friday night dinners. She was wearing
this like she looks like Jackie O so much. I
know that's what they're going for when they dress her.

(05:02):
But she's wearing this really cool, like Jackie O style
like black like coat buttoned all the way up, and
it's got this like white and green trim or yeah,
trim on the on the collar and going down the
middle with the buttons. It's it's really really nice. Uh.
You know Richard wearing the same, He's just wearing a
suit and a bow tie. Come on, it's it's the

(05:25):
women are the ones to shine here, and Laura is
not really really wearing anything that interesting, just kind of
like a regular top. Uh. The next day, Laura I
is sewing a button on Rory's sweater. I love seeing
I love being reminded that Lorelei is like a pretty
master seamstress. Like she can like she can seems to
be able to fix or make anything when it comes

(05:45):
to clothes. She's sewing a button on Rory's sweater, and
she's wearing this like short sleeve turtleneck shirt. It's it's
it's it's a turtleneck, but the sleeves go down to
like I would want to say short sleep. But they're
not like a quarter sleeve either. They they end just
above the elbow and it's got these multi colored, horizontal

(06:09):
like partial stripes. I'm trying. It's such a hard shirt
to describe it. It looks like yarn almost, It's like
multi colored yarn. The stripes don't go all the way through,
They're not like complete stripes, like they stop after it
seemingly six inches or so, and then there's like another
color that's kind of offset. It's a really interesting shirt.

(06:32):
And because if it was anyone else, I'd be like,
what on earth is this? But hey, it's Laura, like Gilmore,
that's just what she wears. Okay, that's what she wears. Yeah,
and just an interesting look at that jumped out at
me there. Later on, Rory comes home from school and
Loralai is looking at paint in spo for Luce. Luke's

(06:53):
going to paint his diner, and we see something that
I find so interesting. This is something's gonna happen a
lot as a show goes on, but from what I
can tell, this is one of the first times we
really see this other than Lorelei's Sherpa coat. And I'm
going to tell you what that is after these words

(07:22):
and we're back. Hey, it starts hollow style. My name's
Easton Allen, thanks for hanging out with me. I really
appreciate it, you guys. I'm so lonely. I just want
some friends, but you guys are my friends. And we're
talking about Gilmore Girls fashion here. We're talking about season one,
episode fourteen that damn Donna reed right before we heard
that beautiful bit of drum music and those fantastic commercials.

(07:45):
We were talking about something that happens here in this
scene where Rory comes home from school, Laurel is looking
for paint inspo for Luke's and this is something really exciting.
Laurel I's wearing a repeat. We have seen the shirt before.
We've seen this in the show. She's wearing this like
blue tied, I kind of longsleeve shirt. It's really strained,

(08:07):
it's glittery. It's very Laurel I. This is a very
Lorali shirt. She last wore this shirt in episode seven,
also season one, obviously, Kiss and Tell, I remember that episode.
She wore it in that one too, And I got
a hand to my good friend friend of the show
at ten percent caffeine on Instagram. She noticed that this

(08:30):
shirt gets repeated. Get this, you guys, this is how
much of a pro ten percent Caffeine is we're such
big fans of hers. She found this shirt. She just
found it. If you go on her Instagram, you can
see it with your own eyes. She found it. What
makes that so remarkable is this shirt doesn't seem to
have a brand. She just noticed it. Like, I'm sorry,

(08:51):
I'm just blown away by the There's a lot of
people that hunt down Gilmore Girl's stuff on the internet.
Ten percent Caffeine, I truly think is the best of
the best. It's insane how she finds this stuff. She
found this shirt again. I wish I could tell you
how you can find it. There's no brand, there's like
it's really hard to describe on the internet too, But
she found it in a thrift store and she anyway,

(09:16):
it seems to be a favorite of Laurel I. She's
worn it twice in this first season here. So she
wears that shirt to Luke's that night to look at
the paint colors. She pairs the shirt with these nice
looking Diesel jeans she has worn before. They're in a lightwash.
They look great on her. I like this fit. The
shirt's wild, but like, at this point, I'm so I'm

(09:40):
so just kind of like trained for Laurela to be
wearing tied I and rhinestones. That I think it's I
think it's okay here. I like this outfit. I really
like the jeans. That's really the big thing here. I
love those jeans. I wore Diesel so much during this
time period, like in two thousand to two thousand and five,
I was wearing so much Diesel. Uh So, I just

(10:02):
really enjoy seeing that, and that's kind of I think
forgives a lot of the outfit for me. Uh But yeah,
it's you know, it's a it's a pretty good outfit.
She wears this for most of the of the rest
of the episode, except for a couple of other moments,
which we'll talk about. We'll get there. Don't you worry.
Don't don't yell at me yet. We will talk about
them next up. That this is okay, this next scene,

(10:26):
this is an outfit that this is enough that I've
been willing to talk about. Okay, I'm really interested in
this outfit. This is probably the outfit of the episode.
Uh So, Rory and Dean are having these conversations about like,
you know, gender roles and uh kind of traditional marriages,

(10:49):
and expectations and stuff like that, inspired by watching Donna
Reed and Rory is house sitting for Babette. She invites
Dean over and she does this like Donna Reed, cause play, okay,
get this, let me paint a picture for you. She's
wearing an orange headband with daisies on it. I thought

(11:10):
this was so cute. I love the head is my
favorite part of the whole outfit. I loved it. It's
a great outfit. Though. She's wearing a matching orange gingham
button up sleeveless dress who with white flaps over the pockets.
She's got a pearl necklace and this like white sheer apron.

(11:31):
It's not like a traditional it's definitely decorative apron. It's
not a traditional one. It is sheer uh. And then
she's got these orange heels. I know that this outfit
is to kind of prove a point, and she's like
playing a role just I think in terms of a costume.
If you just take it out of what it's what
she's trying to do with this outfit, I love I

(11:53):
love it. I just think it's a great outfit. I
think it's really nice. You know, I'm not trying to
like make any statement by enjoying this outfit that much.
But I do think it just looks really nice. I
love the daisies on the headband. I thought that was
such a fun detail and it's so cute. I can't
get over it. It's a great outfit. I love that
Rory had it handy. As Dean says, it's it's got

(12:14):
some circumference. It's got this like crazy like that. The
dress goes out so far. It's it's really nice. It's
just nice. Again. I know she's going for like this
fifties thing. I just think it's a really nice dress.
Lock me up and throw away the key. I like
the dress, Okay, it's really really nice. Okay. The next day,
at the end, Laurel I is wearing uh, you know,

(12:36):
I've I've had made no secret of this, but I
often find Larelei's work clothes quite dull, and I that's
you know, it's probably the point. I mean, she's working.
You know, she can't wear a tied I rhinestone blouse
to work. She shouldn't. But I often find the outfit
pretty boring. This one I thought was was okay. She

(13:00):
she's wearing like a purple silk button up shirt, and
it's got this like these big like cuffs on the sleeves,
and when she has her back to the camera, she
kind of look it looks like pajamas, which I don't
know if that's good or bad. I truly don't know.
I just thought it was kind of interesting. And then
we're gonna get to our final outfits of the night

(13:21):
that we're of the episode that we're going to talk about. Here,
it's another Friday night dinner, and I really like louralized
outfit here. It's really really nice. She's wearing these like
knee high boots, she's wearing a leather skirt, and then
she's got this button up blouse. It's an off white
shirt with like butterflies, flowers, vines, general foliage on it.

(13:41):
It's just got a really cool pattern. I thought it
looked really nice with the skirt. I think it's a
really great outfit. And I couldn't find the exact one,
but I found something pretty similar, you guys, I found
something pretty close. If you get this. Get this it's
as of now, as of this recording, which is just

(14:01):
a few hours before you hear this. If you download it,
right away. It is still for sale. It's still for sale.
It's on eBay. Okay, here's what you're gonna do. You're
gonna go to eBay. You're gonna put your little fingers
to the keyboards. You're gonna tap a tap a tap
eBay dot Com. You're gonna hit enter. Then you're gonna
go the search bar and you're gonna type in Liz

(14:22):
and Co. Tan slash, maroon slash, gray floral pattern, collared
button up. That's what Okay. It's made by Liz and Co.
It's a tan, maroon, gray floral pattern collared button up.
As of now, it is on eBay. It's a size small. Okay,
let's get that other way first. It's a size small
that I found. It's a it's up there for thirteen

(14:45):
dollars or best offer. Sorry, it's just like dawning on
me that I'm just like screaming into a microphone for
the how to find this shirt on eBay? It's thirteen
dollars or best offer, make of an offer. See what happened,
so you can probably get it for ten if no
one else snatches it up. It's a size of small.
If that fits you, I say, get this shirt, then

(15:06):
you can look like Lorele from Friday Night Dinner from
season one, episode fourteen. If Gilmore girls, who wouldn't want that? Okay?
Then you know the episode. It ends with Christopher rolling
up on his cool motorcycle. We all know how that goes.
But as far as the outfits, that is a wrap.

(15:26):
So here's what we're going to do next. We're going
to talk about our favorite outfits and our least favorites
from this episode. We'll start with my least favorite. I
like to lead with hate. That's what I like to do.
My least favorite outfit in season one, episode of fourteen,
that damn Donna Reid is I think it is the turtleneck,

(15:49):
short sleeve striped number that Lorele is wearing when she
is sewing the button on Rory's sweater. I found this
top confusing. I found it upsetting. It looks uncomfortable. I
don't know what the materials, but it looks itchy. I
didn't like it. It was kind of interesting to look at,

(16:10):
but it made me. It didn't fill me with joy
like a lot of these outfits do. So I'm gonna
say that's my least favorite one my favorite outfit of
the episode. Oh man, it's hard. There's I really like
heavy metal rules. I love that T shirt, but overall
it's got to be Rory's Donna Reed cosplay. I love
the dress, I love the headband. The headband is really

(16:33):
what did it for me? I just I love the
daisies on there. It's so so darling. This is a
it was a great outfit. And we've talked about this before.
But I like when the show when they get to
do costumes, when it's not so much like they're wearing
just another you know, early two thousands piece of fashion.
I like when there's a costume there and this is

(16:53):
this achieves that and this satisfies that for me. I
liked it a lot. If there's something that I missed
or something you like you want to point out, go
on our Instagram at I Am all In podcast. We're
gonna have a post up with some photos of these
beautiful fits and will let your voice be heard talk
about it. I will bring it up on the podcast.

(17:14):
I'll say your name, I'll shout you out. I promise.
What else am I gonna do? Once again, thanks for
hanging out with me. My name's Easton Allen. We'll do
this again next week, and this is what we're gonna
do next week. We're gonna talk about Friends season one
episode what No, I'm just kidding. We're not talking about Friends.
We're talking about Gilmore Girls Season one, episode fifteen, Christopher returns.

(17:36):
We're gonna go through all the looks of that episode.
We're gonna talk about all the outfits, where to get
them what they are. Whe're the best, ones, were the worst.
It's gonna be awesome and until then, you look great.
