Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in all That's Kiss You Stars Hollow
Style with Eastin Allen and iHeart Radio podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Hey Vedie c sin Alan. I am all in podcasts
when I live in productions. iHeart radio, iHeart media, I
heart podcasts.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Listen. We've had a lot of fun together.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
We have had a blast over the last year doing
I Smell pop Culture. I have smelled a lot of
pop culture and it's been the best. But we're changing
things up a bit. I Smell pop Culture is still
going to happen. It is not dead, it is not
going away. We're just gonna We're like the Make Rib.
We're gonna take a quick pause here on I Smell

(00:52):
pop Culture. We're gonna shift into something a bit more chic,
a bit more stylish. Here's the thing about Gilmore Girls. Okay,
coming close, whatever you're listening to on your podcast app,
turn the volume up, getting close, hang out with me,
East and your friend. We love Gilmore Girls. We love
the pop culture references. But there's something else we love

(01:13):
about this show. We love the style. Okay, it's such
a beautiful time capsule of the early two thousands, but
it's also so timeless.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
There's so many great outfits throughout this show.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
There's so many great pieces that we keep coming back to,
these iconic looks. People dress up in these and these
outfits for Halloween. I mean, it's a truly a piece
of culture, the styles on the show.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
So here's what we're doing now.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
This is something you already know this because it's in
the title of the podcast episode and the artworks has
changed and everything. But we're shifting into a thing called
stars Hollow Style. Stars Hollow Style that is very fun
to say. There's a lot of ass sounds in there.
And here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna I'm going
back to the beginning. Baby, I know that Scott's were
watching the show again. He's in season two or something. No, no, no,

(02:04):
I'm hitting rewind. I'm going back to season one, episode one.
We're starting at the very beginning. We're gonna go through
each episode and go through each of the looks in
the episode. We're gonna pull out our favorites, our least favorites.
We're gonna dive into some of the history of these looks.
It's gonna be a really, really fun time and I
hope that you'll come along with me. So make sure
to follow us on Instagram. It's I am all in Podcast.

(02:26):
One word, I am all in Podcast. We're going to
post all these looks on there because this is a
very visual thing, Okay, and I understand this is an
audio medium.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
That is that irony is not lost on me.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
But I'm going to do my best through the theater
of the mind to describe these incredible outfits that we
see in the world of Gilmore Girls. And we're going
to tell you where you can get these things now
if you want to emulate this style here, we're gonna
we're gonna talk about what these outfits mean for the
characters as the as the show progresses. So something I

(03:00):
I was thinking about that might be kind of fun
for this is that we've seen We've all seen Gomor Girls, right,
I mean, come on, we've.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
All seen it.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
I think it might be kind of fun to go
through the episodes from the beginning and look at their
outfits as if we don't know anything about the characters, Like,
how are they if you're watching this for the very
first time, how are they getting the characters across through
their clothes. Something a podcast that I love is a

(03:30):
show called Blank check. It's about movies. But the way
they started was they wanted to watch the Star Wars
movies in order, like episode one, two, three, four, five, six,
as opposed to when it released.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
And the idea is like, oh, they have laser swords,
what are those?

Speaker 2 (03:47):
But like, the audience already knows what those are, so
if you're just watching it in order, it doesn't really
make sense. I'm kind of interested to go through and
watch this and try to figure out, like, what do
we know about Luke and loraleon from their outfits, you know,
trying to remove everything we know about these characters. That's
gonna be hard and I don't know if I'm we
be ab to pull that off. But that was just

(04:07):
an idea I had. I thought that might be kind
of fun. But here, let's dive into it. This is
the pilot. We're starting at the pilot, Season one, episode one,
and the first looks you see in this show, the
very first thing Lorelei is wearing.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
She's in Luke's coffee shop.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
She's wearing this like pink sweater with these like white dots,
and it's over a gray tank top. It looks very cute,
but the most important part of this is when we
first see Luke Boom. Right off the bat, we have
established Luke's uniform from the jump. He is wearing a
navel navy flannel, a navel. He is wearing a navy

(04:47):
flannel over a black shirt. He's got the sleeves rolled up.
He's wearing the backwards hat.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
That is Luke. We have established that right away. I
love that.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
That is something that is so exciting that we have
found what Luke is gonna wear for basically the rest
to the series, right away from the first moment you
see him.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
It's it's pretty great.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
And we're gonna get more into Luke's outfit choices, and
especially the hat. The hat has so much lore to it,
and we're going to get into all that as we
continue our journey here on Stars Hollow style throughout the
next few weeks, next few months, next few years.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
I don't know how long they're gonna tell me to
do this.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
But right after, right after that opening scene, pretty early
in the episode, when we see Rory meet Laura Lei
at the at the end, Rory's wearing I mean, this
is gotta be.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
The best outfit of the episode.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Right away, Rory's wearing this gigantic, cozy looking cable inn
it sweater. Lauraai jokingly calls it a mumu, but it's
this like really cozy, like white or off white cable in.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
It sweater, something like a Fisherman would wear.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Do you remember when the first Knives Out movie came
out and Chris Evans was wearing this pool like Fisherman
cable in it sweater and he was a little moody
and it looked cozy.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
It was like a New England kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
That's what Rory's wearing in this scene, and it looks
so comfy. I love it. I love looking at this outfit.
She's wearing it with a black skirt. It's it's hug
it is huge, it's it's very oversized, but I mean
that's what you want from a cozy sweater like that.
You can get a sweater just like this, I mean,
pretty much anywhere right now. But it's having a moment

(06:29):
again as we head into fall here in North America.
It's on Amazon for thirty five bucks. I mean, come on,
you can't beat that. And seeing Rory in this outfit
made me think about Gilmore Girls is such a fall show.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
That is something that we talk about a lot.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
That's something everyone who loves Gilmore Girls mentions that that
I have several friends, close friends that rewatch Gilmore Girls
every fall, Like as soon as the leaves start to change,
they break out the Gilmore Girls DVDs. They rewatch it.
It is a fall show. And Rory in this scene,
this is a fall look. It is so cozy. This

(07:13):
this it just completely sums up early Gilmore Girls for me.
You know, watching this first episode again and looking at
their outfits, it's really it's fascinating because Gilmore Girls is
an early two thousands show. You know, it premiered in
two thousands, like right at the beginning of the millennium there.

(07:34):
But the outfits in this episode are kind of channeling
the nineties. Like it takes them a while to find.
I mean, you know, the y two k fashion hadn't
really happened yet, but like it just reminds you that
this is basically a ninety show wearing the wearing a
mask of being an early two thousand show, and the

(07:55):
nineties are alive and well here in this very first episode.
And well, another outfit that we really have to talk
about is out in the town Square when we meet
Lane for the first time, and we are going to
get into that right after.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
These words, I gotta get paid. Everybody, all right, we're back.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Thanks for listening to those commercials. I really really appreciate it.
My name's Easton. This is Star's Hollow Style. Formerly I
Smell pop culture, but we're shifting gears here. We're talking
about the clothes of Gilmore girls, the outfits, the looks,
everything we love that these characters wear. And as I
said before, we went to that really entertaining commercial break,

(08:43):
we are and.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
This is again season one, episode one.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
If you're falling along at home, if you're watching at home,
we are outside in the town square. We're meeting Lane
for the first time. This is the first time we
see Laye the character, and you know, she's talking about
how she loves rock music and she kind of hides
it from her mom, and I love that she We
see her put on a tied iye woodstock shirt and
that establishes right away this character likes music. It is cool.

(09:10):
She is into cool stuff. That that outfit is really fun.
The we love the tied iye woodstock shirt that Lane
is wearing, and it's it's got that like it's like
the Woodstock logo. It's like, you know, the guitar with
like the dove on it. It is very very cool,
and yeah, I mean, just we we get who Lane

(09:31):
is right away through this outfit. It's really really effective.
We're gonna jump ahead a bit to Lorelei and Sook
here discussing the massive tuition that Chilton is going to
require because she finds out that Rory got into children.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
It's going to be very expensive.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Loralai is wearing this sweater with a tiger on it,
and it jumped out at me. It scared me, honestly.
I saw the King of the Jungle right there, and
I guess that's a lion.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
But you know, I.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Saw this tiger on Laurai's sweater and I was like,
oh god, what is this going to attack me? It's
it's very cool again, very very nineties. It's it's we'll
have this on the Instagram. It's very interesting. But that
outfit jumped out at me too. And you know what,
I'm going through this episode. You guys, you're all my

(10:21):
friends here if you're listening to this, and I'm thinking,
like I'm just going through the episode as I watched
it and kind of listening these outfits that jumped out
to me. We're going to do a final ranking at
the end here before we close it all out.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Do you like this?

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Let me know, Send me an email. Easton at iHeartMedia
dot com. Tell me if you like how we're doing this.
I work for you, Okay, I work for you, guys.
I want to make sure you're entertained here. That's who
I care about, all right, everyone else doesn't matter. It's you,
the listener. I want to give you, guys what you want.
So anyway, we're talking about the cool tiger sweater, and
then another outfit that kind of jumped out at me

(10:56):
is when Lorelai goes to Emily's house for that to
discuss the massive tuition and how she's going to pay
for it. She goes with her hat in her hand.
She's wearing this like really cool, like long knit coat
and this cool scarf. You know, I grew up in California.
I don't get to wear this kind of stuff. Seeing

(11:16):
these styles is really exciting for me. And you know,
then they have their first Friday night dinner. Richard's wearing
his cool suit, you know, pretty standard outfits in that scene.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
But here, here's what I want to do. Now, we're
going to do a ranking.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
I want to do the best outfit and the worst
outfit and the iconic outfit from the from the from
the episode, and we're going to go down in order.
Here that the best outfit I got, I have to
say it that it is. It's Rory's cable knit sweater
that is the best that jumped out at me right away.

(11:52):
It's a it's a look that I think immediately tells
you it's Rory Gilmore. It immediately tells you this is
a fall show. It's cozy, it's comfortable, it's comes up
what Gilmore Girls is to me, it's, uh, this is
a cozy.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Vibe.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
It's it's it's not taking itself too serious. It's it's
just a cool look. And as the again, as the
weather cools down here in North America, I'm excited to
do this myself. I have a sweater just like this.
I'm gonna break it out. I'm gonna channel my inner Rory,
and you can do it too for thirty five dollars
over on Amazon dot com. Uh, head to our instagram
again if you want to see any of these looks.

(12:28):
We have them all posted there. This is an audio medium,
but I'm doing my best to describe it to you,
But if you want to see it with your own eyes,
head to Instagram. I am all in podcast. What's the
worst outfit of this of this episode? You know, I
think I got to give it to Laurelize the first
time you see Laureli I'm sorry, I know that's an
important moment as a character. I don't like that outfit.

(12:51):
Her pink sweater. It's got like white pearls on it,
on top of a great tank top. I I don't
dig that outfit. It just it feels bad nineties to me.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
I don't like that. That's my that's my least favorite.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
And if we're gonna go for iconic looks from this episode,
things that stand the test of time. Luke baby backwards hat,
navy flannel, black shirt.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
That is Luke. He has established himself right from the jump.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
It's it's just so great to see that. And again,
this is a look that maintains throughout the entirety of
the series. And if you see Scott Patterson today at
the Wanner Brothers lot, he'll be wearing a version of that.
You know, if it's not broke, you don't fix it.
We knew right away how Luke dresses, and this outfit

(13:42):
is great, so that's going to do it for for
stars Hollows style. This first episode here, I hope you
guys had fun. I really hope you do. I'm having
fun doing this. There's some great looks here in the show.
And if you have something that jumped out at you
from this episode Season one, episode one, the pilot of

(14:02):
Gilmore Girls, send me an email eastin atiheartmedia dot com.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
E A S.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
T O N and let me know what what your
favorite looks are. This is exciting stuff, you guys, and
we'll do this again next week. We'll talk about episode two,
Season one, episode two, we'll go through the looks of
that one. And as always, please take care of yourselves
and you'll look great today.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Remember that everybody a doultigus.
