Paris returns from a whirlwind trip to Burning Man. It only lasted 24 hours but she says it felt like a month…on Mars. The good news is she packed for a month.

No cell phone service, no ride from the airport, 5 large suitcases, crazy weather and no access to where she was supposed to DJ…we know she survived, but you really need to hear how!

Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is Paris. Hey everyone, it's Paris, and I am
back from the player. Burning Man was so epic. You

(00:21):
missed out Hunter. I'm really bummed. I again, you know,
I had my reasons for not showing up to this
particular one, but I saw your photos and it's unreal.
It really is. I also think, like I'm pulling it

(00:43):
up right now. I think at least I always had
this impression of Bernie Man of like, okay, it is
like whatever a week or two weeks of or just
a weekend of inhaling dust and it's like a massive
r V park for a bunch of kind of like
the more creative ak Looney people in Los Angeles. And

(01:07):
I think, well, that's a part of it, in a
fun part of it. You made it look like an
artist's dream, like it was just so creative and fun,
and you look like you had the best time. So
I have a bunch of questions. And my first question
is is this your first Burning Man or you've you
gone many times? This is my I think, like tenth

(01:31):
Burning Man. God, honey, I live for this type of stuff.
It's a fantastic point. How is this one different from
previous years or how is Burning Man different from other
festivals too? Well, it was definitely different than any other year.
Usually I love just to go the entire time, so

(01:52):
I will literally go for eight days and I love
that and that's what I usually do every single year.
But this year, um, Carter and I just have so
much work. He had so much work, and then I
was just my mind, like I feel like I really
want to go, like I want to have a family
next year. I don't know if I'm gonna be able
to go back. So I kind of said that to him,

(02:13):
and then he was like, well, I have worked, but
why don't you and Kevin just fly there. You can
take the plane and just go in out, just literally
go and you guys can just like get your photos
and videos because he knows that I love like taking
pictures in front of sick art and things like that
and dressing up. So he's so sweet. He just told me,
he's like, honey, like I totally trust you. I know

(02:36):
this is important to you, and you and Kevin just
go for the night and come back the next day.
And that's what we did. So it was literally twenty
four hours in and out. But like from the photos,
it looks like I'm there for like a week. I
did so much. We did not sleep. I was so
exhausted by the time we left. Like do you see

(02:57):
the photos of me, like driving in the the big
our car with like the robot passing. So um it's
just so incredible. It's like you're on Mars, Like it's
another like level. I don't know. It's so crazy. Everything
it's so beautiful. It's so much fun. It's not like

(03:18):
a music festival at all. It makes these music festivals
look like a joke. It's like it's I don't know,
it's everything, it's its own world. It's beautiful, that's clorious. Yeah,
I'm looking forward to going. Except for the heat. This
for those that don't know, this weekend was like one
of the biggest heat waves uh ever in California. How

(03:43):
hot was it doing a heat wave in the middle
of the desert. Oh my goodness, it was so hot.
So first of all, we landed and there's not a
real airport, like the people who go to the festivals
set up like this fake airport that's like really funny.
There's all these crazy signs and they just like you
come in and they're like make you say all these
things and do that. It's just it's really weird. Um

(04:05):
that fun. And so we got there and then there's
no phone service. So we're like waiting at the area
where people are supposed to pick you up like in
an art car and bring you to your camp because
it's miles and miles this place is huge. So we
got there, there's no one there for us, like, we
didn't know what to do. There was no phones, was

(04:27):
like sitting and waiting or so hot it was like
in the sun. There's no air conditioning. We're like out
dot outdoors like melting. And then um, finally some like
guy came up to us and he's like, Hi, I'm
like Eric, and you know, I'm gonna make my plane,
so tell my friend ed he's coming into Porsche and

(04:48):
a little bit that you know that I made the
plane so I don't need him to drive me back
to the camp. And we're like okay, cool. I'm like, well,
does he have like what kind of Porsches it. He's
like it's like a Porsche like truck like truck and
like the jeep Porsche. So we literally he pulled up
and I was like, oh, your friend left, But can
you give us a ride? And he literally stuffed in

(05:08):
all of my luggage. I had like so much, like
five giants suitcases, all of these things just because I
brought some. I know I'm beyond and I had already
shipped three ahead of time with the electric bikes. Um. Yeah,
So thank god he drove us home or not home

(05:31):
to the camp, because we would have been screwed with
all that luggage having to carry it through the desert.
But I learned, I'm never packing like that again. I
sell this to myself every day, but I it was
like I spent most of the time I'm packing and packing.
It was beyond. So every trip, I know I'm the worst.

(05:56):
I'm never going to learn, um, But hopefully after this
time I did. But it was just so hot during
the day and then it got cold like at night.
Like thank god I brought those other like jumpsuits, do
not jumpsuit cat suit outfits, those other three luggages. Thank
god you brought those other suitcases exactly. Um, what was
what were some of the items that you packed? Oh

(06:19):
my god, what didn't I pack? Um? I basically ordered
everything from dolls Kill, like the giant platform, boots, wings, harnesses,
body suits, glitter, feather not feathers, not a lot to
wear feathers are actually not feathers but like wings that
look like feathers that are drawn on like holographic. Um

(06:40):
cat ears, like snacks because neat food. So I brought
like a lot of granola bars and gum and lollipops
and socks and like chill clothes to like relaxing when
you're not in like some crazy outfit. And then these
sick headpieces like one that just like look like Shira
but it is led and it lights up like a rainbow.

(07:03):
It's annoying, so to like wear a battery pack but
it's so sick it like glows and looks insane. Um. Yeah,
I had brought to so many things it was crazy.
I literally could have stayed there for like two months
with all those outfits. Al Right, Well, next year, I'm
gonna hold you to it, and we're gonna see if

(07:23):
we can get you down to one piece of luggage
per day you're going to be there, which isn't asking
a lot. That's still seven pieces of luggage for seven
days if you were to stay a week. Yeah, I
figured out a new way. I'm going to do it now.
It's just a good way to pack is basically try
the outfit on everything, the shades, shoes, purse, every jewey,

(07:45):
all of it. Take a polaroid, put it or in
your phone, but polaroids are even better. And then you
get like the clear hanging things and then you literally
hang the whole outfit with the shoes and the sunglasses,
the slid everything and one thing with a photos so
it's just like there's my outfit instead of like, oh
I need to unpack the sunglasses suitcase and now the

(08:06):
shoe suitcase and then it's just like a freaking nightmare. Sorry.
I still have anxiety thinking about how annoying that was
and then having to pack. That was really fun at
the end. Oh my gosh, after all that you stufted
do that t Yeah that's that's pretty miserable. Um, but

(08:26):
yeah I was. It was sick like. We had a
lot of fun changing outfits. Did you run into any
other celebs out there? Um? I got there early because
usually people you know get there around like Thursday and Friday.
I think the only people that I saw that I
knew were like Puffy And then when I was going

(08:48):
to the airport. I picked up car at the airport
because she was going back to our camp from there.
Um and else should I see that? I know? Oh yeah,
Nina Dobrev and our boyfriend Sean Wi. They're so sweet.
It was his first time at the burn Um burn

(09:09):
Man and uh yeah, I didn't really see a lot
of my friends because usually I'm obviously they're much longer.
And it was just so quick, like Kevin and I
were literally like Ninja's Like. I was like, okay, let's go.
I want to do this look. And then I'm like,
I only only a like hardly any time, Like I
didn't pack this much for nothing, so I just need
to get as much out of this as possible. And

(09:29):
then they're like, oh, we want you to DJ. So
then that was happening so that I had to like
stress out about that the whole time with no phone service. Um,
and then I'll yeah, I'll tell you about that later.
But yeah, this is Paris. You have now been ten times.

(09:57):
Was there in art installation and there this time that
was better than any you've ever seen. I love Charlie
the Unicorn, He's so cute. I love the Mayan Warrior.
Their art card that they use when they DJ. It's
just the sound system and the lasers and everything about
it is just out of control. Um. I loved what else? Um,

(10:25):
This big octopus I saw was crazy looking. Um, there
was just so many beautiful things. Everything. The man this
year is just like Neon Green, so cool looking. It
was beautiful. What was your camp like? Because a lot
of people camp there. Um, every year I go to
the same camp and it's just like my group of
friends from l A and New York and London and

(10:49):
it's just nice because we're we all have our RVs together.
And then we have like this kind of like club
area in the middle that has like DJ's will come
in DJ like ruckuses djaying and blow and I don't
know if people would just go on whenever they want.
Has like a bar and it's like a basically like
an outdoor club. And then um, we have like they
have like amazing chefs that they flew in from Belgium

(11:11):
that had like most like delicious, healthy food. And it's
nice because people from any camp can come. There's like
no money there or anything, so it's not about like
oh you can go you know, buy food or buy table.
It's not about that at all. It's like everyone is
just there to give and be generous and like, I
don't know, just like all about that. So even people

(11:33):
who are not staying at our camp are allowed to
come and like hang out or go to the club
area or like eat or do whatever. So like Burning
Man is just like all about being open for everyone.
It's there's no like v I P area. It's like na,
that's like the antithesis of this, Like people hate on
that so hardcore, which is understandable. Yeah, totally. I think

(11:59):
every since the beginning it's kind of been like people
getting away from that style because a lot of it
is like people from l A going to Bernie Man.
Now it's worldwide and international and everything, but I think
in the beginning it was like escaping from what is
Hollywood and Los Angeles and all that. Yeah, exactly, how
are the parties there? Like at night, sick, It's so

(12:23):
much fun. It's just like everyone is just dancing and
having the best time. Everyone's dressed up, like every night
is like a different theme, so like sometimes people like
go on theme, so just like look so cool just
seeing all the same colors together or like everyone's wearing
I don't know just everything about it. Just people just

(12:44):
go all out and everyone's just so happy, and it's
just I love riding bikes and it's just like you
feel like you're on Mars riding a bike. And then
my favorite part is the sunrise when it's just like
this orange gorge son and um yeah, I always like
deejaying during that time because it's like so beautiful. Like

(13:06):
sunset and sunrise are my favorite because it's just like
the sun just looks so gorgeous. That's amazing. Okay, Well,
for people who want to go next year and possibly
go see a a para Stilton DJ said, or get
to see any of your outfits in person, what advice
do you have for people's first burning Man? Just to

(13:27):
be prepared, just to have everything that you need that
your outfits, like water, like something to carry it in,
like snaw. It's like this is it's not like hardcore,
but compared to like some people, it's not. It's not
like you're going to be at a hotel like with
everything there. It's like you're in the middle of nowhere.
So you just want to be prepared to go with

(13:47):
the right group of people that you can trust, make
sure you have someone to stay and like people stay
intense and things like that too, which is great, Like
it doesn't matter, like as long as you have like
fans or something. It's so hot, So I brought my
electric fan with me everywhere, and I brought like twenty
of them and I was giving them out to people
as gifts because everyone was so hot there. Um and

(14:09):
my advice, yeah, for next year, my DJ set, I
just imagine like being dehydrated in the desert in burning
Man and like it's just being on the verge. I
see the light and I'm like, this is it And
then all of a sudden, Paris comes up to me
and says, do you want a little fan? And then
brings me back to life. That was like literally me

(14:31):
my DJ sep so my friends told me. He's like, okay,
we they really want you to do this thing. It's
called the Daft Punk trash Fence. It's this legendary party
they have every year. It's like at the total end
of like in the middle of nowhere by the trash Fence.
I was like, what does that mean. They're like literally
like daft punk plays. They're like dipplo is playing it's

(14:52):
like all these like Facebook groups saying like Paris and
Dipplo going back to back, you know whatever time here,
Like it was just like all these rumors were happening,
so like we will you do it? And I was
like okay, sure, when is it? They're like, well, we'll
meet at Robot Heart at five forty five and then
we'll all follow each other there because it's pretty far.
And I was like okay, dope. So I start telling

(15:13):
everyone literally all of my friends were coming, like probably
thousands of other people I met like everyone throughout the night,
told everyone exactly where to go. Then it I'm there
at Robot Heart looking for my friend and I was
like okay, like all right, we're all ready to go
to that place because I have so many people meeting
us there. He's like, oh, well, I actually got a

(15:36):
bigger art car. It's this giant iceberg and it's like
five times It's like this, We're not not even more
than five times the size. It was like this huge thing.
He's like, it's double the size of this and it's
like basically this giant giant stage. I was like, okay,
so is it gonna go to the place where everyone's
meeting us. He's like, no, it's it's too big to

(15:58):
drive that far. I was like, are you serious. I'm like,
I have so many people meeting me over there. He's like,
the farthest you can go is like right up here.
So yeah, I felt so bad. So anyone listening to this,
I did not like lie and tell you the wrong place. Like.
It wasn't my fault. There was no phone service. I
couldn't tweet, I couldn't Instagram story, I couldn't tell anyone

(16:20):
because there was no phone service, obviously, but I did
play a DJ set. It was so sick, but it
wasn't the wrong opposite end of the playa, so I apologize.
It was not my fault. I did my best, um
but the set was amazing. I was just epic, just
everyone was dancing, having the best time. And then I

(16:44):
became like almost eight in the morning and it was
just getting so hot, and Kevin looked at me and
I had no sun screen on, and he's like, Benjamin Button,
like you would never go in the sun, Like no umbrella,
like no stage over you. It's like beating down on you.
Like everyone's in dancing and raging for two hours, like
he's probably so exhausted because he was flewing from Europe,

(17:05):
and um yeah, so I ended the set and I
was like, we had to keep Benjamin Buddon safe and
um yeah, I had to go back and pack. So yeah,
everyone went over to go see Carl Cox who was
playing right after like eight thirty till eleven thirty in
the morning or something. But I was a good girl

(17:27):
and went home, not home, but back to the RV
to go pack my cases, to my hell of clothes.
That was really fun. What a what a beautiful trip.
And uh yeah, if you guys want to see the photos,
will post on them to our Instagram, and Paris is
going to be posting all of them, I'm sure over there.

(17:49):
I mean, there's so many good photos, so it'll probably
be over the course of the next week. Uh yeah, Paris,
thanks for giving us all that good info. Thank you,
and yeah, ever, have a great week, keeps living. Thanks
