Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to I Choose Me with Jenny Garland. Hello, everyone,
welcome to I Choose Me. This podcast is all about
the choices we make and where they lead us. We're
rolling into the holidays, it's happening this week. I just

(00:21):
wanted to take some time to chat with you all.
I know the holidays can be a mixed bag of
feelings for a lot of people, and this time of
year is also a great time to reflect on what
a year twenty twenty four has been. Maybe try one
of my new favorite things I learned from Liz Moody.

(00:43):
Look at the past year specifically and pinpoint those times
where you were challenged and look at the progress you
have made. That practice always makes me feel so good.
My favorite thing about this time of year is quiet,
albeit only lasts for a week, but my world really

(01:06):
slows down. The industry slows down, the decision making slows down,
the emails flow down, and I can just exist and
experience all the moments of those few precious days. It's
been a year full of feelings, that is for sure.

(01:26):
And as we've talked about, feelings aren't forever. They come
and go, and sometimes they need to be listened to,
and sometimes they don't. But look back on the year,
I do think it's a good idea to take stock
of your emotional roadmap and where you've been and where
you are now and give yourself a pat on the back,

(01:49):
give yourself some credit, give yourself some grace. You're doing great.
I'm doing great. We're all doing great. If I kind
of look back on my last year, there's been a
lot of excitement and a lot of feeling like curiosity
of the unknown ahead of me. I've had feelings of fear,

(02:09):
for sure, I think we all have. But I've replaced
those fearful feelings, those what ifs and oh no's, with
this we'll see. Instead of labeling any feeling good or bad,
I try to replace them with this one phrase. We'll see.
We'll see how this opportunity flourishes the way I hope

(02:33):
it will. We'll see if this new friendship is going
to be mutually beneficial and feel good. We'll see if
this new relationship is going to work out and become
significant in my life. Saying we'll see doesn't mean we
just throw our hands up and don't work at things.
It just means I'm going to give this my best effort,

(02:53):
and we'll see how it works out. There's a certain
freedom in that thing that allows things to sort of
unfold naturally instead of trying to force anything into anywhere.
I think this time of year is always a good
idea to get prepped, get ready for twenty twenty five.

(03:14):
I'm going to try harder to be more present. I
feel like I'm pretty present. I try so hard to
be present, but I'm going to try even harder to
keep my work out of my family room, off of
my couch. Basically, we can be watching movies and sometimes
I will go to my computer and start working in
the middle of a movie. It is so annoying. And

(03:36):
would I get annoyed with somebody else in my family
sitting on that couch with me doing that? Yeah, So
I need to work on those double standards. First of all,
I've had so many favorite moments on this podcast that
I've laughed, I've cried. I've been really able to listen
to the people that we've had on learn so much

(03:58):
about them, but not just that, learn so much about
myself and about this journey that I am on. And
I've loved hearing where other people have triumphed. I've loved
hearing other people's challenges because it has made me feel
like I'm not alone. I've had some really great guests

(04:20):
on that I thought, Wow, their life is so awesome
and amazing, and I'm sure you probably think that too.
But having them on the podcast and finding out that
they are dealing with the same challenges that we're dealing
with that I'm dealing with has given me solace. I
think I never thought I would come to such a

(04:45):
peaceful place with my ex husband. This podcast really opened
the door for a new relationship for us, and I'm
so grateful for that. And oh my gosh, the experts
we've had on and getting to have my daughter for
one on the podcast talking about launching our brand together

(05:07):
this year was such a pinch me moment because this
is a girl who is very shy. She's always been shy.
She's always hidden behind my skirt. And just seeing her
sort of open up and come into her own and
be able to speak into a microphone eloquently and express

(05:27):
herself and be in rooms full of people and feel
like she belongs, I don't know. It's given me the
greatest gift as a mom to see her unfold in
this way. I've gotten to have my husband Dave on
the podcast, and it's always a good time when I

(05:48):
sit down with him and we have those discussions about
connection and about fears, and we just really open up
and get vulnerable with each other and with all of you.
I love having Adele on. Oh my gosh, our resident
in house therapist, Adele House has been in the house,
and I'm so glad to be able to share her

(06:11):
just valuable information and just her insights. You know, I
always have said she's one of the best people I know,
and I'm so happy that you all get to know
her too. And of course, mister Showbiz, my longtime manager Randy.
Having him by my side through all of this and

(06:32):
be there to support me and encourage me and throw
ideas back and forth has been just such a gift.
And I love this feeling of connection with you all,
this community that we are building here. It feels so
good in my heart. I know it's right. I know
this is good, and I'm just getting so much out

(06:54):
of it, and I really hope you are too. I
feel like, please don't get me anything for Christmas. This
podcast has been the biggest gift. Ever, for me, there's
so much information thrown at us all the time, whether
it's from our favorite podcasts or from books that we read,

(07:18):
or the Internet or the Instagram or the TikTok or
the Facebook. There's so much messaging out there. I feel
like it's all syncing in for all of us all
of the time, and we're as we grow and as
we evolve, all those good important lessons and messages that

(07:39):
are circling around they land. And one of those instances
for me was not that long ago, actually, for Thanksgiving.
Adele was on the podcast with me and we were
talking about how to really just enjoy the moment and

(07:59):
make that like my priority at Thanksgiving break to take
time to really just enjoy the moment. And I was
able to do that at Thanksgiving, and as I was
doing it, I thought of her, and I thought of
that moment when she was telling us that, And I
want you to know that that's possible for you too.

(08:19):
So all the things that you're listening to and all
the things that are coming into your universe are coming
to you for the right reasons. And don't be scared
that you're not going to be able to impart them
into your life because it will. It will happen if

(08:40):
you just stay open. Here's what I'm going to leave
in twenty twenty four. I'm going to leave my feelings
of self doubt because they're doing me no good. Thinking
to myself, I'm not good enough, or other people are
better at this than me, or other people are already
doing this, that or the other, so I don't need

(09:02):
to be doing it. That's all just fear. That's all
just those internal fearful messages trying to hold me back,
keep me in a safe place instead of encouraging myself
to step out into the world and try new things.
And even if I am a little afraid or I

(09:22):
feel overwhelmed, it's okay, it will all work out. And
just knowing that if I'm going in a direction, it's
the right direction. If it feels good, it's the right direction.
And I hope for you, my beautiful listeners, this holiday season,
I hope you have peace. Just let things unfold without

(09:46):
forcing or working ourselves into the ground to get the
results we think we want. Have goals for sure, have
your dreams thought through and visualize them happening, and then
let it go. Oh and get quiet and let peace
lead to you. So with that said, I just want

(10:07):
to wish everybody the merriest of Christmas, the happiest of holidays,
the best New Year. I'm so excited for your twenty
twenty five. I'm so excited for my twenty twenty five.
Let that excitement fuel you, let it fill you up,
and let yourself believe it. Believe in yourself. We can

(10:28):
do this. And you know what, twenty twenty five is
going to be good. It's going to be huge for
you and one of the coolest ways we can start
choosing ourselves. Maybe start twenty twenty five off right by
coming to my I Choose Me Live event. It's going
to be so much fun. We're going to talk, we're

(10:50):
going to hang out, We're going to learn from one another.
It's going to inspire us all to love ourselves just
a little bit. More. Tickets are on sale. Well now,
they make great holiday gifts. I'm telling you, if you
buy a ticket for this and you stick it in
your loved ones stalking, they are going to be like,

(11:12):
what is this And when they go and have this experience,
they're going to be so grateful. All the info is
in our show notes, so be sure to check it out.
I hope that I see you there, or maybe I
see one of your loved ones there. Thanks for choosing
