Speaker 1 (00:18):
Hey, they're folks. It's C. J. Holt and Amy Robot here.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
I do hard to just wanting to wish you a
very safe and happy new year. We've been challenged here
to say happy New Year to you by telling you
what are our word of the year of twenty twenty
six is going to be?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
And we came up with fun. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Wow, We've given this a lot of thought, people, No, really,
we got a challenge to do it, and I think
it's cool. It's hard to sum up maybe everything you
want to do next year in one word.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
It is, but I do think I do appreciate setting
an intention, not necessarily a resolution, but if you do
frame the year with what is the word that you
would love to sum up a year in your life?
I do stand by fun. I might backslash it with joy,
but really trying to always remember there is some fun
to be had, There is some joy to be experienced,

(01:09):
even in tough times, even when you're working your butt off,
even when you're feeling hopeless. Sometimes I just like to say,
can I have fun right now doing what I'm doing,
even if it's hard?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (01:19):
How about how about you?

Speaker 1 (01:21):
I was going to go with resolve, forgiveness, kindness, and grace.
You just want to have fun.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
So, folks, I hope you have as good of a
year in your relationship as we're about to have as
we try to mesh our words.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
For folks who just.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Want to say happy New Year, have a safe one,
and by all means, continue to check us out here.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
It's been great to be a part of I Do
Part two.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Hey guys, it's Janna Kramer with I Do Part two.
Happy New Year, listen. I know they always say new year,
new you, this is going to be the year that
you find love. But I gotta say, we shed a
lot of stuff in twenty twenty five, and this is
the year that I truly believe is all of ours
to take and find what we really want, whether that's healing, love,

(02:05):
a new relationship, it is yours for the taking. So
go get it, have the best twenty twenty six, and
can't wait to ride this journey with y'all.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Hey guys, Happy New Year.

Speaker 6 (02:16):
Oh my goodness, I'm so excited for twenty twenty six,
are you, Kelly?

Speaker 7 (02:20):
Yes, I am so excited. Happy, happy, happy new Year.
Cheryl and I are super excited to talk more love
and I do in the new year. Happy, Happy New Year,
Happy twenty twenty six.

Speaker 6 (02:32):
It's really about, you know, growth. I think, what's your
new Year's resolution?

Speaker 5 (02:36):
For me? It's about growth.

Speaker 6 (02:37):
It's about just stepping into this chapter two, continuing I
do part two and just kind of trying to let
go and not think I can control everything.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
What is your new Year's resolution?

Speaker 7 (02:50):
So, you know, I've just learned so much, and I've
learned so much with you and with all the other mentors.
But you and I have done so much together and
we've had so much fun together, and through the some
of the times that were really really difficult for me,
you were there and I just really appreciate you, Cheryl
so much.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
I love you.

Speaker 7 (03:09):
That is one of my big goals this year is
to really take time to let people who I appreciate
know that I appreciate them, because that's been something that
has just made me feel so good about myself and
makes me a better person.

Speaker 6 (03:26):
And I love you, Kelly, and I'm so happy for
you. You're been a great place. And for all my fellow
single people out there, you know, we don't need a
perfect plan. I think stepping into this new year, and
it's really or anyone's approval really right, Like, it's just
we want to move forward.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
We always want to choose ourselves.

Speaker 6 (03:43):
And I just think heading into this new year, it's
just a fresh start and you don't need to have
a plan, You don't need to have a resolution. You
just need to be you and choose you. So we
love you and look forward to continuing our I Do
Part two together again in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
So we'll see you soon. Yeah, me and my vibrator
will see you soon. We will see you guys soon.

Speaker 7 (04:06):
I can't wait to hear all of your stories, everything
that happened during the holiday season. And just like Cheryl said,
choose yourself, because if you are feeling great about yourself,
then you're going to feel so great about someone else.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Amen's sister. Love you, guys, men.

Speaker 7 (04:22):
Love you guys.

Speaker 8 (04:26):
Hey, it's Kathy and Susan with I Do Part two.
Happy New Year. Hey, Kathy, do you have a New
Year's resolution?

Speaker 9 (04:33):
Well, you know me, Susan, I don't believe in making
New Year's resolutions. I believe in making a resolution at
the moment you decide to change something in your life.
So but my resolution for last year was to try
to interrupt less, and I've done that. My twenty twenty
sixth resolution is to interrupt even less. So those of

(04:54):
you out there, I hope you have a new Year's resolution.
Maybe you're looking for love, maybe you're lo looking to
change your life in a very positive way. I hope
whatever your New years resolution is, you find love. It's
out there for all of us, just around the corner.

Speaker 8 (05:11):
You just got to stay open. It doesn't happen like immediately.
Be open, and when it does come, you'd be blessed.

Speaker 10 (05:20):
Hi to my I Do Part two family, It's Jen Fessler,
wishing you happy happy, happy New Year, health, wealth, happiness,
joy and peace in twenty twenty six along with the very.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
