Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi Christy, Hi Will, how are you? Oh? Well, you know,
I'm thirty nine today. I was just gonna say, it's
your birthday. It's your birthday. It's literally on my computer
screen right here, it says Christy Carlson Romano's birthday. Seriously.
Of you just think I'm not going to have it
in my calendar? Of course I am. I was waiting.
I was waiting. Of course I am. The first thing
(00:22):
I was going to ask, is is it not your birthday? Today? Happy?
How do you feel about this being the last in
your thirties? Really very mixed feelings. Forties are awesome. I
keep hearing that you're airing that. I feel like, at
least in your forties you can really honor your body
(00:43):
before it starts to decline. Wow, I suppose that's one
way to put it. Geez. Like my husband and forty
in within the month, he ran a marathon, and he
was like doing all these things because he was really
trying to get into his body and like start to
respect did So. I'm in this really deep state of reflection,
but not reflective enough to not step out and enjoy
(01:05):
our contest today. Well, that's good. You're just going to
enjoy it with ears that are one year older. I'm
talking about it. I'm just warring. Wait, thank god we're
doing this now, because you know, see, if we have
a season two a contest too, you're not even gonna
be able to hear the people when when you're forget that,
I can't hear you. Oh, welcome back everybody to Round
(01:28):
three of the super Awesome Contest to become the next
big voice actor this. I've been so happy with this.
I listened to round two the other day when I
was on a walk with my dog, and I had
a smile on my face the entire walk. It was
so fun to hear these people that are killing it
are contestants and that we're hoping to give a big
break to and having Rob here last week and ag
(01:50):
here the first week. It's so cool. Today we haven't
actually had Kree summer. Oh you just said it. You
just said it creates here Stati. I'm so excited. I've
actually never met Kree. Have you worked with her? Oh? Geez?
Kree and I have played boyfriend and girlfriend in nine
hundred projects for twenty years. That's a cute twenty five years.
(02:12):
We always laugh. We were boyfriend and girlfriend on um
what what you know? Partners quote unquote on Batman beyond
on um uh, ThunderCats on you know, blah blah blah
and blah blah blah blah bah blah, just one after
another of of I mean, I've known Cree for thirty years.
Our voices seem to meld, and that's an honor for
me because she is a legend. Should I be jealous?
(02:36):
I don't know. I don't know. I would say, if
there's any other animated girlfriend I've had longer than you,
it would be Cree Summer. So that's I mean, I
wouldn't say that's why we always met, you know what
I mean in the same room. That's what it is.
What you do constantly call me Brendan so or my
husband or yeah, are so blurred? Is the are the
(02:57):
lines blurred? Or are you just getting older? Oh? Wow, callbacks,
you're tricky. Callback Well, today is gonna be great, I
promise you very quickly before we jump into today, which
is going to be awesome. By the way, we have
you know, Matthew from Delaware and David from Illinois that
are going to be joining us, that are going to
be joining our first two in the Elite eight. I
(03:20):
cannot wait. But before we get into all that, Christy,
I just have one question. Are you doing anything fun
for your birthday? Like? What are the plans? Oh, I'm
doing this podcast. I've gotten my nails done thus far.
I'm gonna be, you know, hitting the spot. I'm a
spog early, so I'm gonna go to the spot and
Brendan gets to benefit from that though. That's the funny
thing is that my husband actually he's like, no, no, like,
(03:42):
I'll go with you. It's cool, like I'll be your day.
I'm like, of course you will, and going out to dinners.
So I'm keeping it low key. But for me, that's
still a lot. I think it's I think it's a
great age. You don't want to do too much. I
might break a bone. You're kidding your forties or you're
(04:03):
gonna love them. You got, you got a year. You
got I'm saying you've got a year. It's you got
a year left. But your forties are I'm having I'm
knocking wood. I'm having as much, if not more fun
now than I did in my twenties when or when
I was on Boy. I mean, it's just you're in
control of your life and you're you know you're you
know who you are, and it's great. Yeah, just empower
yourself to speak up, use your well, it's good show
(04:25):
and speaking of it, that's and I was gonna say
that is a perfect segue to our episode today. And
just very briefly, we would like to thank all of
our friends and everyone who helped make this contest happen
from our friends over there at Critical Role and Season
two of Voxmachina is available for download right now on
Prime Video. Who we'd also like to thank everybody out
there from Prime Video help us made this happen. We'd
(04:47):
of course like to thank um CESD, who has generously said, heck, yeah,
we want to sign the winner because you know, we
want the next best, and you're gonna go find the
next best. So they are signing our winner to a
one year year contract. And of course our company that
we get to work with all the time that made
this entire thing happen. I heeart. We couldn't have done
this without them, So thank you to everybody who made
(05:08):
the super awesome contest to become the next big voiceover
actor happen. Sucks I love that you shout out to
everybody because it really is a team a team sport
here and so yeah, we're just the we're just the
two voices, but there's a lot of people behind man,
a lot of moving parts. And of course, thank you
to all of our celebrity judges that are coming to
(05:31):
help us out and our guest judge today. We already
said who it is amazing incredible us No, nor should you.
You can't when you are around a woman like Cree Summer.
She is absolutely incredible. She has been everything in everything. Yeah,
so she was Penny. I didn't realize she was Penny
(05:51):
in the original version version of Inspector Gadget, which I
totally grew up with. There she is high, and there
she is. Yes, I'm so excited. I'm so excited. Who Create?
How are you? Baby? We were just talking about how
not only are you a legend and brilliant, but how
(06:12):
essentially you and I have played boyfriend girlfriend, are partners
and more things than I have with anybody else. Yeah,
with my boyfriend, I love. We got that thing. We
got it works, It just works. So this is Christy, Christie,
this is Creed Create. Don't feel like we've met before
(06:33):
and that makes me sad. And I'm so excited to
have you better late than never. How you Yeah, I
love it. I love it. Nice. Nice to meet you
out too. We are so excited that you are here.
You have no idea. Um, this is very very cool.
So we have started. We've launched this nationwide contest to
find the next big voice actor. And we ended up
(06:54):
getting forty over forty two hundred entries yep, and we
got it down to the final sixteen. And you are
going to be one of our celebrity judges today to
help us mentor two people and pick who moves on
to the round of the elite eighth abow. The world
has changed. So no one gave a voiceover within the eighties,
(07:16):
or it wasn't even a thing. As a matter of fact,
I remember my agent telling me to play it down
that you were a voiceover actor. When I was working
on camera. It was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's you know,
that's that's your side, gig. Let's not make a big
fell about it. And and I remember it was kind
of being looked down upon, as you know, as the
(07:39):
lesser version of being an actor. And I think it's
so funny now that everybody and they Mama want to
be a bell. It's so true. Well, to let you
in on what we're doing here today. We have two
contestants coming in and you're going to help us pick
their characters. So the first thing we're gonna be doing
is we are playing a game called by the Numbers. Well,
let's here, let's start here, let's let let's let create
(08:02):
in on what the prize is if you become yeah can.
First of all, the contest is called the Super Awesome
Contest to become the next Big Voice Actor. So Christy,
what win? So they get a thousand dollars spending Um,
what is it spending cash? Yet? Been in cash? Right? Okay?
So then you get to fly out to LA and
(08:24):
you get to meet Will and myself. Okay, what else? Will?
And then I want We've got We've got a one
hour coaching session with Emmy Award winning director Sam Regal
and Mary McGlynn, which is from Critical Role, which is
totally cool. And then the Biggie Biggie Biggie they get
to sign a one year contract with CEESD biggest agencies
(08:45):
in the world start their professional voiceover career. Career create dude,
you just fell open, Like with every person that we've
like trying to get aged my mouth with Wide, I
love Green much. I'm obsessed and I want to be
(09:10):
your friend so much. It's gonna be a little jealous
because you know, Kim Possible and were Unstoppable, who he played,
they were a boyfriend girlfriend and I said to him
before you came on, I was like, am I gonna
have to beat jealous here? Because we have Oh yes,
we've we've had a thing. We've been boyfriend and girlfriend
(09:31):
since I moved to LA, since I was like eighteen.
It was the side piece I was. I think of
what I mean Batman Beyond wasn't I I was in
my twenties. It was nineteen ninety six. Yeah, yeah, my twenties.
I mean yeah, but I've been with I've been with
you longer than I've been with my Wife's right, I will,
(09:53):
of course, But it's true. Why do you think you
guys have gotten paired up? Is it because he was
wacky voice? When I I guess it was the straight
character compared to his character. But like with you guys,
what was your dynamic vocally that made you guys such
a good pairing, you think, I don't know. I guess
we just doom in their ear hole in a way.
(10:14):
They really like it, right, I think so too. I
think also we just got along really well, and the
you know, the kind of the chemistry between us as
actors was there. So that was one where it just
it just worked. Yeah, I think that has a big
part of it. Right, if you would hang with that
person on purpose, you can feel that energy. We could
(10:36):
spend hours trying to pinpoint. It'd be more fun if
we were stone trying to figure it out. But that's true,
but then halfway through you forget what you're trying to
figure out. And for round one, we have been playing
(11:00):
this wonderful game called by the Numbers, And what we
do and buy the numbers for everybody out there who's
just joining us, is our contestants have been given two
of three lines that they've had a chance to spend
the night with. However, what they do not know is
what character they will be doing the line in. And
the reason they don't know that is because we get
to pick it here on the show. Actually create will
be picking it because we have one, two, three, four
(11:23):
different categories. Categories are size, what are you important? It
is well, yeah, nay, I know it from me. Okay, guys,
what are you? Age? And wacky attribute? So by picking
random numbers create You're going to pick four numbers and
from those four numbers a character will be created. That
(11:47):
then they will come out and have to do their
couple of lines in these characters. Now, if you would,
because you are the celebrity guest who is awesome at
what you do, if you have any notes or anything
for them after they do do the yeah, tell you know,
direct them, however, you would feel that they would need
to be directed or hey, slow down, whatever you think
and uh. And at the end of that, we will
(12:08):
then give them which they don't know yet. They get
a surprise third line which they have to read cold.
And we will be inventing characters the entire time, so
switching up their characters on them, seeing how they take direction,
figuring out their you know, vocal range, all that good
kind of stuff. This is like a little mini training ground.
It is. It's gonna be. It's very fun. It's down
(12:30):
and dirty, and we are down to We've got two
people already going through to the elite eight. So we
have two. Mut I love that it's the Elite eight. Well,
that's from the it's from March Madness. So I stole
it from basketball. Christie. Okay, you could have just claimed
that you went. You would have been the only person
to be like, really, Tank, Okay, hey, go easy on me.
(12:55):
It's my birthday. It is your birthday, by the way,
it's Christie's birthday todayday birthday. Today is the last day Aries.
I guess so I thought I was pisces aries Cus
Custy isn't real. You're an aries. I'm an aries. Okay,
such a pis though what she actually is is in
(13:16):
her last year of her thirties. So um, why don't
we bring in our first contestant. This is Matthew from Delaware. Uh,
and Matthew is gonna be h, We're gonna we're gonna
learn a little bit about Matthew and then we'll put
him back in the waiting room and learn a little
bit about our second contestant. Matthew, are you with us? Hello, Hello,
welcome Matthew from Delaware. You were gonna be welcome to
(13:40):
round three. And I'm Will and this is Christy and
our guest today is the amazing Chreas Summer. Who is
going to be our celebrity judge today? Hello, So just curiously, Matthew,
what what started your voiceover journey? What made you want
to be a voiceover actor? I mean, it's it's just
(14:03):
something that I've always done, okay, just for fun. I
love doing voices. I love um when I when I
was younger, I learned a lot of like imitation okay people,
and then I started learning accents and from there I
started learning to do voices. Um. I haven't really done
it in a professional capacity, but you know, I've been
(14:26):
trying to get better and better and uh like make
better reels. Hey, that's all we can do is just
do what we love and get better at it. If
we can, UM so great. So then we're gonna put
you in the waiting room and meet your contestant very quickly.
You got your lines for today. You're gonna be fun.
You're gonna be good. You can feel it. I can
(14:48):
feel it. Yeah, take a breath. You're gonna be good
and where we'll be back to you in a second
to do your very first round of buy the numbers.
So give us a second. Thanks, Matthew. Oh I feel
nerve this. He took that deep breath, my rabbit heart.
It's great. That doesn't it kind of bring you back
to being a young actor though. It's just I love
(15:08):
that that feeling you used to get of, that kind
of like it's fresh and it's new and you're not
and it's sweating and you're hot from the neck up.
Yes right, yeah, but you're like salivating and you're inching hands.
Oh god, he just gave it to me. He took
that inhale and I've felt it. Why don't we bring
in our next contestant, which is David from Illinois. Hi, David, Hi,
(15:32):
it's a pleasure to be here. Thank you for having me. Well,
thank you so much for joining us. I'm Will. This
is Christy, and welcome and congratulations on being one of
the top sixteen and making it to round three of
round one but still round three three round one. I'd
also like you to meet our celebrity judge for the
(15:53):
day who's helping us out. This is Cree Summer, the
amazing Cree Summer. She's that voice on everything you've ever watched, everything,
Um so she's going to be fine out Please, I
have I recognize you instantly from codenamed Kids next Door.
I haven't even seen the show and forever, but it's
just never left my memory. So yeah, it's a pleasure.
(16:13):
Oh I'm so happy to hear that. Baby. Totally cool now, David,
what what started you on your journey as to want
to be a voiceover actor? Yeah? Um, when I was
about actually twelve years old, I would watch mainly the
Transformers movies and the Transformers shows, and there was such
(16:38):
a variety on those uh animated shows, the characters, and
I would always try to like impersonate them, try to
like sound like them and such. And I had I
had an out of body experience when I was a
kid where I tried to mimic one of the characters
and I felt I was like close I was. I
was thinking, oh my goodness, I can I fund almost
(17:00):
like him. I saw it a nothing like him, but
I had the belief, you know. So it set me
on this path where I would just kind of do
it for fun. I would do it at school. I
would show friends and everyone was so um like amazed
by it. Wow, you can shift your voice to different
tonal levels. It was such an incredible thing. And I'm
(17:23):
only realizing really as of a year ago, this is
something that I was meant to do for my whole life.
This is my passion. I really enjoy doing this. I've,
like you guys have said, the kindest people are in
this community. There's never any hostility that I've seen, and
it's just been so kind. Everyone wants to help each
other out. I've had amateur voice actors helped me out.
(17:44):
I've been able to help them out and it's just
been such a pleasure. So it's been a very long
journey and I really, I really hope to keep doing
it no matter what, I will always well that's good, ye, well,
good for you, and congratulations you have your lines? You
ready for today? I do? Okay, good, So we will
be back to you in a second. We are going
(18:05):
to go to can you are contestant to today. We
just take them whoever comes first. So we're going to
We'll be back to you to play the first round
of by the Numbers in just a second, David, So
I appreciate you you waiting for a second. We'll see
in a bit. Thanks. All right, here we go, everybody.
Let's bring Matthew in for the start of the game.
(18:26):
Matthew here we go, welcome back, and we are going
to play round one of By the Numbers. So, Matthew,
so you know By the Numbers is a game where
we've given you the two lines that you're going to read,
but you don't know what character you're actually going to
read them in yet, and by random numbers, Cree here
is going to pick what character you're going to read
(18:49):
them in. So the list of categories is size, what
are you age? And a wacky attribute? So if you would,
cree could you give me a number between one and
six four? Can you now give me a number between
one and twelve seven? Can you now give me a
(19:11):
number between one and seven two? And last but not
least a number between one and eleven nine? Okay? Can
I say what it is? Absolutely, Christy, please tell Matthew
here how he's going to read what character he's going
(19:33):
to be reading. The first line you will be portraying
or voicing a small flower that is five years old
and is shocked. Right, that was number nine was shocked? Okay?
That is your wacky attribute? You are shocked? I shohocked?
Five year olds? Shocked? How is that? Once? Okay? So
(20:04):
you're good you got it? You want to hear it again?
Are you good? A small flower that is five years
old and shocked? All right, I suggest, matt I do
want to suggest something to make sure that you're not
looking at us when you're doing your voice. Make sure
you're just looking at your microphone. Okay, don't worry about us,
and I guess you're all right ready, Matthew at your pleasure? Sir?
(20:27):
What can I say about my friend here? If I'm honest,
I didn't think they would ever get married again. I mean,
after the first three partners disappeared on your streenge circumstances,
you figure everyone will be small enough, smart enough to
just stay away. But no, he's hoping this time will
be different. So let's raise our glasses to the happy couple. Wow,
(20:54):
I flubbed the line, but flubbing is okay. There's not
a who doesn't flow the line. I legitimately I have goosebumps.
Good job, Matthew. That was impressive. I'm sorry hearing that
from the three of you. It's great. Create cre do
you have any notes. I love that little cuteness about it.
I love the little grasp in it, and I love
(21:16):
the little character I would just throw in the shocked part. Yeah,
and we can do that by picking certain lines like, oh,
I hope that it's you know, just put in a
couple of good key gasps. Yeah, I don't know about that.
I don't know, but oh, maybe throw a shock or something.
(21:38):
Didn't put it in. It's such a little teeny noise
to put in there. But otherwise, baby you, my high
beams are on that. Oh my gosh, thank you. It
was very good. I'm gonna go nervous, anxious than than shocked. Yeah,
but I would go I think creezy, exactly right. Why
don't you give it one more take and do it
(22:00):
and try to add a little quality of shock. What
do you think? Okay, okay, hang on, all right, at
your pleasure, sir, go ahead, take good times. This is
how it works in the real world. Yep, all right,
all right, all right? Oh mem oh, what can I
say about my friend here? If if a longest I
(22:21):
didn't think they ever get married again. I mean, after
their first three partners disappeared under strange circumstances, you fit out.
Everyone would just be smart enough to stay away. But no,
he's hoping this time will be different. So Uh, let's
raise our glasses to happy couple. Very nice, Matthew, appreciate that.
(22:44):
We're gonna put you back in the waiting room and
we'll be back with you for round two. Thank you
very much, Thank you. It's god. It's a great quality. Right.
What I find really wonderful about having creon today is
she's highlighting something that week. We've talked about a couple
of times. But the undercurrent of voice being voice acting
(23:05):
being acting, Yeah, and you cannot divorce the two from
because it informs the nuances in your voice. Sure, and
it makes you. It takes you from having a good
voice to being a pro. And I'm seeing that more
and more through this contest. How that's going to come
down to it? Yeah, he was very very good. So
(23:26):
you're still right. That's the thing that always drives me
crazy in the street when somebody you know runs up
and says, oh, I do Donald Duck and so and so,
and they whip out like twenty voices. But you can act, yeah,
and you can come in truth be told, you could
have three voices and act your ass off and really
get booked. I do three or four voices, that's it,
thank you. But as long as you're being that character.
(23:49):
The listener thinks the voices changed. Yep, it really I agree. Yeah.
So it's paramount that's the most important. Number one actor
voice be an actor, that's the most important thing. And
let's see if we found another one in our contestant
number two, David from Illinois. Come on out, David, Hi, David,
how are you great? So here we go. We are
(24:11):
going to give you your first shot. We just explained
to your contestant. I think you know we are playing
by the numbers. So you have the lines that you're
going to be reading, but you don't yet have the character.
And Cree is going to be picking the character for
you from four different categories, which are size, what are you, age,
and wacky attribute. So Cree, if you would be so kind,
please and give me number one to six, number one, okay?
(24:32):
Can you now give me a number between one and twelve? Twelve?
Can you now give me a number between one and
seven seven? And now give me a number between one
and eleven eleven? Okay? Can I say what it is is?
Go ahead, Christie? I was okay. You are, sir, a
giant ninety five year old Teddy Bear who is also
(24:57):
an athletic coach. Oh god, okay, let me get this
because I feel like I could just candle paying acid blotter.
You're gonna do You're you're in your nineties yet ninety five,
which is also very specific. Christ By the way, I
hate to say this, David. If you sound ninety four,
you're done. Five? Okay, ninety five pushed in maximum density? Right, big? Yeah,
(25:24):
you're a giant, A giant and a teddy bear, and
one of those teddy bears they buy you know that
are the really giant biggies, the big. But you're also
an athletic coach. But you're an athletic coach. Yeah, okay, wow, perfect,
All right, David? Are you ready? So we're gonna be
doing line one. Here's your character. You've got it all
(25:44):
set and at your pleasure take it away. What can
I say about my friend here, if I'm being honest,
I didn't think they would ever get married again. I mean,
after the first three partners disappeared under strange circumstances, you
would figure everyone would be smart enough to just stay away.
(26:08):
But no, here's the hoping this time will be different.
So let's raise our glasses to the happy couple, then fantastic.
You know, I could feel your size, right, I could
feel his age, I could feel his age. I could
even up the age a little more myself. I could
we could up that age, because you know, when you
(26:30):
get old, everything falls apart a little bit, and up
here too gets a little more right, a little older
and just a little like a Mosquito public care is
worth of age in there because it's so good. And
I wouldn't mind to hear a little more of that
coach because the lines almost dictate it, especially in that
(26:55):
toast when he's like, I know, we could do it.
Maybe it'll be better. You know how a coach gets
in there and amps up the team. Maybe. I mean
that's what I was thinking of. I love No, No,
that's perfect, Christy And yeah, no, I think you have
to listen to create that. That's absolutely all of those
are amazing. And then also, don't forget to have fun
(27:16):
with it. Throw it away a little bit now that
because I feel like you're so talented that you're going
to be able to get what she just said. But
don't forget because sometimes we'll see people do their auditions
and they get so in their head about the character
that then they stop having fun with it and you've
got it. So just that's my thoughts. What do you think,
will no, I agree? I would I would say I
(27:38):
would say I agree with both of those those notes.
I have nothing else to add. I'd say, give it
another shot, listening to what Kre and Christie said, and
at your pleasure take it away. Can I say about
my friend here, I'm being honest. I didn't think they
would ever get married again. I mean, after their first
(28:00):
three partners disappeared under strange circumstances, you would figure everyone
would be smart enough to just stay away. But no,
here's the hope, and this time will be different. So
let's raise our class syst in a happy couple. Really good,
(28:21):
you put that age in there. You did nice adjustment.
Damn y very good. So we will be with you
in a second and you will be ready for round two.
Oh my god, this is so hard. This you might
have are yes. I just think at the same time
break we might have our first ever. Yeah. They've both
(28:42):
been great, them both up as the acting. Honestly, it's yeah,
I mean it's the only thing and it's and it's
by this much, you know, and that's why we've got
to figure out. So this is why it's tough. We'll
get well, we'll figure out. We'll see what happens, see
if one of them pulls away. But so far they're
both great. They're neck and neck. They're fantastic. I know.
All right, Hey Matthew, how are you hello again? Welcome back.
(29:03):
We are going on to line too now, which I
think you have there as well, and we're gonna we're
gonna jump right into it. Cree one to six two,
and now a number one to twelve three, and now
a number one to seven four, and now a number
one to eleven five. Take it away, Christy. You are
(29:25):
a big fifteen year old mouse who just won the lottery,
A big fifteen year old mouse that in mouse ears
or in human ears? Your choice, dealers choice, but good
question choices. That is an actor's question, right there, my
(29:47):
franks question. Right, okay, here we go at your pleasure, sir, whenever,
big fifteen year old mouse who just won the lottery,
h can we take just a second to which rest
the elephant of the room? Please you? You hasn't anybody
told you you're an elephant? And you're in my room?
(30:07):
Sitting on my bed. It's bad. So I just won
the lottery. The lottery is the best. I gotta get
some text for me, anything the lottery, create any notes. Yeah,
(30:29):
you could be excited. You just won the lottery. Baby,
that's exciting. I mean you know when I when I
think of the lottery, I get very hype very I
would throw I was trying to solve all sorts of problems.
I'm I'm gonna deal with this one right here, right now. Oh.
You know sometimes the things that give us those little
(30:50):
extra things are you know, like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I'm kind of joy get out of my room, man, right,
But it's because it's it's it's we still got to incorporated.
I'm not taking this anymore. Yeah, he could laugh. I mean,
this is a happy dude who's won the lottery, all right.
(31:10):
I would just infuse it with a little bit of joy.
But I like the character, and because you're so sharp,
I would ask, can you age them down just a
teen a bit? Just a teen right, yeah, a little
bit like that? Yeah, right, got adjudgment, Dan, Let's try
this again. Who all right? Put that out of the way.
(31:33):
Can we try and take can we just take a
quick second to address the elephant in the room. Please
you you there. Haven't anybody told you you're an elephant?
And you're in my room sitting on my bed. It's weird.
Get out of here. My room. Very good, my room, like,
(31:54):
I like the adjustments, very nice. Oh my gosh, We're
gonna put you back in the waiting room and we
will see you in a second. I got, I got,
I got goosebumps again. How are your headlights? Cree dude,
my my headlights. My high beams are on. I think
my high beams are on too. Yeah. Yeah, he's really good.
He's little here as well the moment, my high beams
are always on. It's it's it's a medical thing. Um.
(32:19):
His his moments in between, where he like quickly changed
the change, the level of voice, changed, the age, all
that stuff that, to me is almost more impressive than
the lines he was doing. I mean, because I just
think about Matt's personality feels very professional to me, all right,
you know what I mean, like even go into the
(32:40):
room tomorrow, of course. But but I'm just saying, like,
with what I just observed him from his first line
to his second, and how much joy I keep talking
about how much he's bringing that to life, and yeah,
he messes up the lines, he's not as accurate, but
that's not what we're looking for. Like when Cree talks
about how somebody has such an accurate depiction of another
person's character. This is something different. This is inhabiting a character. Yeah,
(33:04):
this is a tough one. This is the last couple
episodes we've was fast fast. Yeah. And also we also
to find out that so much of our gig is
ad living and that ability to think on your feet.
And he's very quick, Yeah, very quick. And I heard
him ad living lines after the fact and they were
(33:25):
funny out and what he said and I won the
lot just won the lottery. I was like, that's that's
very clever. That's great clever. And and directors love when
you can inhabit a character so much that you have
the nerve and the bravery to throw some things in
that ain't in the script. I appreciated that about him
me too. This is a tough one. All right, Well
(33:47):
let's bring our second back in. Man, this is so tough,
and we are back. Yeah, there's David, all right, my friend,
So you got line to there in front of you. Yep,
all right, here we go. Free a number between one
and six, please six, Now give me one and twelve?
What eight? All right? Now a number between one and seven. Three,
(34:10):
and now a number between one and eleven. Ten, Christy,
take it away. What do we got? You are a
microscopic fish that is ten years old and is afraid
of your own shadow. Dear God. Easy, I'm glad this
is my gig, winning a career here creak, thank you,
(34:36):
microscopic fish that's ten years old and is afraid of
your own shadow. David, anytime you're ready at your pleasure. Okay,
Can we just take a quick second to address the
elephant in the room? Please you you there, hasn't anybody
told you you're an elephant? And you're in my room
(34:57):
and sitting on my bed. It's weird, super cute. Yes,
I think we can make them even more microscopic, can
be even more legal. Right and ten? I think it
probably gave you a little mister direct there, because not
not to sound like a baby, but small and ten.
(35:19):
And the only thing I would really infuse that with
is fear. Those lines work for fear. Um. The the
the addressed the elephant in the room. You're in my room,
you gotta you're on my bed right is very different
than you're in my room. You're on my bed. That's confident. Okay,
(35:40):
you can really give it to me with that fear
and a stutter always throws fear makes it real palpable,
and you're you know that uncertainty. Breathe, breathe, Oh my god.
And think of the think of the size too. It
really dictates you're a microscopic and you're talking to an element.
That disparity is crazy z. So okay with the Christy,
(36:01):
do you have anything to add? I think I'm just honestly, David,
just don't rush into it like just because we gave
you these notes. Just take a breath before you approach it.
And the words don't matter, says the writings the writer,
(36:23):
the writer's strike. Thank you. Yes, okay, so, uh, David,
at your pleasure, take your time and go do it again.
Can we just take a quick second to address the
elephant in the room. Please? You you there? I'm sorry.
(36:47):
Hasn't anybody told you? Sorry? You're an elephant and you're
in my room and sitting on my I'm sorry, my bed.
It's weird problem take a note. Nice adjustment, my friend,
(37:08):
nice adjustment, and we will see you in a second.
Thank you so much. We are so screwed. I'm so dying.
I'm dying right now. How did we do that? Took
(37:28):
the note? Now we got it. Now we're gonna throw
something at them that they're not ready for, and let's
see how they think on their feet, and we'll go
from This is the cold reading. This is a cold reading.
Like a cold reading best because it really shows you
what what the hell's going on? I agree, And like
all over voice of reactors that we work with, eighty
percent of them don't read the script before they get
in the booth. Anyway, I got a gig in an hour.
(37:48):
I don't know what I'm gonna get There they went,
can you do German? I went? Sure? Um? So character
was German? What's my name? What am I doing? He's
got it? What day is it? Exactly? All right? So
let's bring Matthew in for challenge number two. Okay, here
(38:11):
we go, Hey Matthew, how are you hello again? All right?
So we got one thing to throw it, my friend,
we got one line we'd like you to do that.
You have not had a chance to read yet, so
it's going to be a cold reading. We're gonna play
one more round. All right, can you see the zoom chat? Yes?
That is your line? Or can you read it? Yes? Okay, okay, perfect,
(38:33):
So that's going to be your line. Uh, create a
number between one and six please four, and now number
between one and twelve. So we're gonna do eleven eleven,
and then between one and seven. Did we do two
or three? Two? Two works? Okay? And then one and eleven? Three?
(38:54):
Three is perfect? And what are the chances? All right? Christy?
Who now this this line that you just got, Matthew,
you're going to be reading as Christy you are a
small five year old mer person who's German. Okay, Oh god.
(39:18):
We didn't say it was gonna be easy, Matthew. We
said it was gonna be fun for us. All right,
all right, here we go, five year old take it away, Matthew,
pleasure remember lives underwater. I would like to thank you
(39:41):
all for coming today. That's the end of my speech.
So just to recap money power popularity, it is for
these reasons that I am running for eighth grade class treasurer.
Thanks again. Yes, we'd drinks into back. Whoa pretty great,
(40:06):
pretty amazing, pretty great German. Fantastic, little a little five
year old fantastic. Yeah, I would say, I would say,
have fun with it if she if he was gonna
do it again, is he gonna do it? Yeah? Make
make just go more, just go bigger, just go all right,
all right, one more take and there you go, at
your pleasure. I would love to thank you all for
(40:29):
coming today. Ben, that's the end of my speech, So
just do the cap money, power, popularity. It is for
these reasons that I am running. That is great class treasure.
Thanks again, Jen, drinks in the back. Have a great day.
(40:49):
Okay that yes, Nail, thank you. Yes, we'll be back
with you in a second. Okay, let's see. Let's say,
all right, so we'll bring it on impressive. Yeah, I agree.
Hey David, welcome back. All right, So we are going
to the super secret round three, my friend. And what
we're going to be doing is if you look at
your zoom chat, you've got a new line there that
(41:13):
you have not had a chance to rehearse. So we're
gonna do one line reading cold for you. We'll give
you a second to read it while Cree picks your
character create you would first of all, I love you,
I miss you. And second of all, can you please
pick a number between one and six? Damn it, I
just want to pick something. I haven't help me out
birthday girl, I will. Okay, so you had, so your
(41:36):
options are, oh man, five, ye haven't done five yet.
Let's do five, all right? And then and then one
to twelve? Yeah, five, six, nine, ten, you haven't done
Let's do ten in there, okay, okay. And now between
one and seven we haven't done one. We haven't done one,
(42:00):
even done one, five and six, let's do Let's do
six between one and eleven one? Oh sure, Christie, we
got You've got a sixty year old, proper British for
a robot. Okay, that's what was that first one? It
(42:21):
was yeah, no, say he's proper British. Yeah, he's sixty
years old. He's a robot. What's his size? And he
was tiny? Tiny yep, a tiny sixty year old robot.
Who's proper British, proper British. David at your pleasure, would
(42:42):
like to Frank who old for bombing today? Well that's
the end of my speech. So just a ree cap
money our popularity just for things reasons. That's all ring
for everybody, caused Treasurer. Thanks again. There's red drink in
(43:07):
the back. Very nice. Create any notes, Wow, I would say, uh,
if we could lean in in the British and if
it's something that's a little elusive to you, just pick
certain words to put it on. That's my fake trick,
you know. I right, that's right, you know, you just
throw it on a couple of lines, you know, right, Hello,
(43:30):
maybe put a little hello on the top of that
um and uh if you like, oh, you know, just
little little places and then it'll just remind us that
it's British and we just need a little more robot,
I believe, and it's maybe a little more sixty. You know.
He's a it's a very proper British Robottish rob Yes,
(43:51):
not even a robot, he's a robot. Robot. You're a robot, yes, yes, robot, Yes,
proper British. Are they rolling ours in proper British? No,
that's Scottish, my love? U Okay, got it, No, that's robot. Yeah,
that's all right. So give it, give it one more
(44:19):
shot and let's go from there. Take it away, you know,
robots can have a good way to fake a robot.
Is that stilted speech or staying monotone also informs us
of robot, you gotta take it away. I would like
to thank you all for coming today. Well that's the
(44:39):
end of my speech, so just three cap money, power, popularity.
It is for these reasons that I am running for
eighth grade last treasurer. Thanks again. There's Red Drake in
(45:02):
the back bay. Took all the notes. I heard them all.
I heard the British get better. I heard the robot
really come out in the end, and you got older. Yep,
I agree. Oh boys, all right, David, give us a second.
Will you thank you? Thank you? Okay, it's time to deliberate.
(45:26):
I don't know what to do. I don't know what
to do either the question. Okay, I do I think Matthew.
I think Matthew's got the edge. I think Matthew's got
the edge. But feel like we're he's sitting beside us
in the booth. But that's the thing, that's what we want. Way.
It's just we've said from the beginning that we're looking
(45:47):
for a colleague. I mean, we're looking for somebody that
the day they win. Oh oh, hey, Matthew, somebody X
person is next to us in the booth and we're
okay with that. You feel like they belong there. It's definitely, Matthew,
I don't agree. Yeah, it's shocking too because he seems
so nervous off the head and then he's using that though.
See he's using that energy right like to you feel okay, Yes,
(46:11):
you're right. I'm realizing too, and I'm learning so much
about what how I would want to reapproach things if
I were to start to do always work more often.
It's like some people sit back and let their voice
get back in their voice and it gets stuck in
their body. And what makes the difference, and this is
perfectly the example I would use here, is that one
(46:33):
is using that energy to push it out, get it
out of their body, let it get out and then
one is sort of kind of ternalizing a little bit more. Yeah. Yeah, Well,
the thing that that's that's difficult for me is that
there's a possibility who knows, but there's a possibility that
David could have won on a different week. I know
(46:53):
that I know that a different competitor he would That's
what I mean. So it's just I think Matthew, you know,
it's one of those things where had it been a
different week, he could have gone through. Um, but I
think Matthew has the edge in acting and I think
at the end, energy edge, the energetic itch, and Matthew's
(47:13):
got something that you can't learn, and that is an
ability to think on your feet, ye, to be in
the present moment and play yep. And he's got the
balls to throw some out there, which you agree that's big,
that's big, huge, Yeah, huge, Okay, go in and do
a gig and make that script better, make that whole
(47:35):
thing they or they didn't even think that that was
the character, right exactly. That's an edge. And I think
when we go forward, will after create on a different episode. Um,
we're gonna we're gonna try to help people understand that
they that competitive edge is something they can bring with them. Yeah,
it's it's but it's also it's one of those things
where it's like, you know, when you're sitting next to
(47:57):
Kevin Michael Richardson a Trevor de val a create some
or a terrorist rant, you know you know that what's
on the page is not necessarily what you're going to
hear you just it's when you're working with the best.
You know that when you're sitting next to Johnny DiMaggio,
how you read it in your head is not how
it's going to be said into the microphone. And so
(48:17):
that of Rob Paul, all these people, I mean, that's
what they do. So when you have somebody who's got
to be nervous, who's sitting in a booth, who were
taking into the show and then putting in a waiting
room and taking in the show and putting in the
waiting room, who's taking the notes and still ad libbing
and doing all that stuff, that's impressive. You know, we
said at the beginning, any one of these sixteen people
could be signed today. Yeah, that's what we looked for,
(48:39):
is sixteen people that could be signed and start a career.
And David, I think has a career doing this. I
just think he kind of ran into a buzz saw
today a little bit because Matthew seemed to kind of
be the whole package mathsh today. Matthew was acting and
he was making those great adjustments. I mean I was
he surprised me too. Doesn't feel like an amateur, I agree,
(49:03):
So are we all kind of in agreement. Then yeah,
and the winner is Matthew from Delaware. Bravo, Bravo. All right, um,
why don't we Why don't we bring in David and
let him know that he's awesome but he won't be
it's the worst I know, it's awful. Pretty close your eyes,
(49:25):
I'm not looking. Hey, David, how are you doing great? Um?
I want to start by saying you surprised the hell
out of us today. You did so unbelievably well. You
really really did. Took all the direction, all the notes,
The timber of your voice is great, and you absolutely
(49:46):
could be signed tomorrow. You have a career at this,
so please keep going. Unfortunately, your contestant you were up
against was just killing it today, So unfortunately this is
going to be the end of the line and the
contest for you. But you made it to the top
sixteen out of over forty two hundred. And we're not joking.
We just sat here and talked for five minutes about
(50:07):
how you easily could do this for a living, easily,
easily easily, and we're so good and so please please
continue to do. Either of you have anything you want
to say to David, You do know what you're doing.
You sound great and you listen and you made all
those adjustments which you have to be able to do.
(50:28):
I think you should be just overwhelmingly proud of yourself,
and I think this is the sign to keep going. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah,
we've been saying that, but we we truly do mean that.
And I was even trying to figure out if we
could bring you back. I think somebody really was like,
where's the loophole we can squeeze them in. Yeah, you know,
somebody not having a microphone or something. I mean, we
(50:50):
we love you. We really rally behind you for you
to keep going with this, especially because in the beginning
you were saying like, this is what I want to do.
This is my calling. You have to keep going where
you are, right, it is your calling, Yes it is,
and you've got three fans here, no joke. This is
a very was it very very difficult decision for us
(51:12):
and a very close call. You did everything we asked you,
as Cree was saying, adjusted to the notes, you were
really really good. So please keep it up. Get a
get a really kick ass reel out there, because somebody's
going to sign you. Um. I think when when David
actually listens to this episode. I'm curious to hear what
you think dm us or something on I hear voices.
(51:33):
I mean curious if you can understand, you know, the
decision that we made and why, because it doesn't mean
you're not worth it and talent. Oh no, you're awesome.
You're really, really good, and you're going to have a
very long and successful career. You really are. So thank
you so much for joining us. And congratulations again on
making the top sixteen, which is which is great, and
(51:54):
uh yeah, good luck with everything. Please stay in touch
because we know we're going to be sitting in a
booth next to you someday. That's a problem. See you
in the booth, brother, I see you. Thank you so much,
you guys, thank you so much for your time. Will
I want to say one last thing. I loved you
as Bumblebee and Transformers prime season, but I just want
to say that, thank you. I appreciate that. That's really sweet.
(52:16):
Thank you David. Such a pleasure, you guys, Thank you
nice meeting you, bye bye to meet you. So he
was so good. It's the word. It's the worst. We
hate it. We don't have anything to do. I know right,
it's play the I hear voices home game. That's the
problem is that they've all been playing that. No, I
(52:38):
want to play the real game. And he that's that's
that's not blowing smoke. He's good. He's good. Yeah. So
all right, well let's let's have a little bit of
fun with Matthew. Now. It's gonna be good. Should we
should we should we make him sweat a little? Oh yeah,
only way we all knows. That's why you guys are
destined to be Oh wait, no here okay, um oh
(52:59):
oh god. So Matthew, we just want to start by
saying it was so incredible having you here today. We
think you're very, very talented. We do. Um yeah, no,
and it's just you know, we've we've been talking and
it's just you know, your other contestant, and um, I
guess we just want to say congratulations on moving on
(53:20):
to the next on my friend Gota. You did so
you are yes, no, you did so incredibly. Well, here's
(53:41):
the thing we want to say. One of the things
that impressed us the most was the moments that you
were in between doing the lines, where you were ad libbing,
where you were being yourself where you were having fun. Fine,
that's like be that's being a voice over actor. That's
what we do in the booth. That's how we are
with each other. That's what we recognized in you. You
took the oats, you were doing some of the changes instantly. Um,
(54:03):
so we're looking for you know, the lines are important,
and the characters were throwing at you are important, but
we're looking at a whole bunch of different factors and
you just hit a lot of them today. So congratulations,
you're going to the Elite eight. My friend Christie thought
I invented that elite by the way, but hey, it's
still my birthday. It's still it's still your birthday, so
(54:26):
we gotta give christ Yes, yes, today's your birth happy birthday. Yes.
So I hope you don't mind that you're moving on
to the next round and you're gonna have to do
this again. Yeah, the games are going to get even
more difficult, the competition is going to get even more stiff,
and we're going to have some more celebrity judges helping.
(54:46):
So work on your heads. And I want to be
in the finale. That was everything that was so fun.
I think we could make that happen because we are
going to have a panel of celebrity guests helping us
in the final one. So great. It was a ton
of fun. Honestly, I would just say, work on your accents,
work on your ages, like everything that we just covered,
just rush up on that. Just have some fun while
(55:08):
you know you're waiting for the next round. Yeah, you
know what I would do too, So I would take
I would just take books, you know, I love kids
books in particular for this, and just read them aloud, cold,
just open them up. Smart smart, I mean I like
terry smart because children's books have all those huge hills
and valleys, and then they did that and it's always
(55:31):
that big thing. And you can just give yourself your
own quizzes, you know, make it old, make it small,
and just do those little passages. And I always like
to hear myself. I would like to record myself because
what you sound like in the room may not be
exactly what oh, that's totally different from how it sounds
in your yeah goal acoustics in your dome piece. Yes, yeah, yeah, exactly.
(55:55):
All right, Well, Matthew, we will be in touch. Congratulations again,
and we will see you in the next round. All right,
thank you, thank you, will Christie, thank you, Cree. I'm
I'm have a good one. Thank you. I'm glad you
got to experience that isn't great? What a fun idea?
(56:16):
It's great, isn't it. It's you're loving this. I'm smiling
all day when I do this because it also you
can see how much people love this gig. It is
the best gig it is. It's phenomenal. We don't hurt nobody,
no mus go to sleep within clear conscience that not
a lot of people can say that that is true. Right,
(56:37):
We don't hurt nobody. It just is a beautiful thing
to put into the world. So now you might have
unwittingly roped yourself in are you are you serious when
you come on and be in the last panel? Ill,
that was so fun fun. I want to do it.
It's gonna get great. I'm gonna go nuts. Oh my well.
(57:01):
I want to thank you so much Cree for joining
us today and helping us and helping our contestants and
helping Matthew move on to the next round. You get
some of the awesome notes and help them. This is
I'm expellable, Facebook, I'm so good to see your face.
I really have missed you. I know I missed you too.
Hopefully we'll get to play animated boyfriend and girlfriend again soon. Yeah,
come on, we gotta shift this one into the next.
(57:21):
Let's do the damn thing. And Christie, I just us
a Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday,
dear Christie, Happy birthday to you. Oh my god, I
(57:42):
love you, thank you so much. I love you. Before you, hey, Cree,
before you leave? Where can people find you? What kind
of socials? What do you got to promote? Okay, I
do uh what I am? I am Chris Summer on Twitter.
I am Quez Cree Summer on Instagram and Naho nah

new Donald Glover horror thriller on Camera, show called Swarm
on a new show on Stars coming up called Run
the World? Uh gosh, what else? Uh? Animated Good Times?
(58:49):

season three just came out. No, season two just came out.
Yeah two. Yeah, So just go follow Cree everywhere. You
crease one of those people where you can't avoid her anyway,
So don't worry about it. She'll be in your life
whether you want her there or not. For real eighteen
(59:10):
Wheeler Room, Cree, I love you so much. Thank you
for joining us. Yea, I appreciate it. And we're gonna
see you. We're gonna see you in the finals. Oh,
I'm back. That's very good. Have a great birthday. I
will thank you, am I already am. Oh gosh, what
around everybody, Matthew going forward? That was a tough one.
(59:34):
That's this one that we're going to be like lying
up at night going because David was good. I will
always remember David. Um. I will remember this moment, and
I think it deepens my appreciation for like what we're
doing to impact to this community. Um. You know, we're
really trying to give everyone a really fair shot, and
you know, you don't know who is auditioning next to you. Um,
(59:55):
you know, it's all blind. Yeah, and we're truly trading
this almost like a micro a micro whatever. Look yeah,
but it's also what it's like, we don't know you
and I don't know who they've paired up against each
other against the final sixteen. We we pick you know
(01:00:17):
you and I and our producers went through the all
the intros, are all the the auditions blind. We picked
the sixteen that we wanted the best, and now it's
out of our hands and the producers are putting them together,
so we don't know who's going to pop up against whom. Um,
it's uh, it's just watching. The process has been a
ton of fun and man, David was good. So David,
if you're still listening, and I hope you still are,
(01:00:38):
keep going, because man, we really were impressed and thought
you were great. And we want to think all of
our listeners out there and everybody's been following along with us,
and as we're trying to find the next big voice actor,
we're really excited about that. So join us again next
week when we've got another another round seeing who's gonna go.
We got three in now, three into the elite eight,
(01:00:59):
so we're we're getting there slowly but slowly and having
a fun time in the process. Yeah. Yeah, it's been
a blast. Thank you for Thank you for listening, guys,
and thanks Will for being a great partner in this.
He's always he really is, guys. He's working really hard,
he creates all the lines and I mean, you know,
he's just the best. So I'm very lucky to have
(01:01:19):
