Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, you want experience during your football season,
We'll buckle up, sweet cheeks. We've got all the experience
in the world. This is I want your flex with
Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon. Mike and Dan break down
everything you need to set your lineups, from position rankings

(00:22):
to starts and sits. The guys help you make those
hard decisions. And now let's get your flex onde. Here's
Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
It is I want your flex. Almost getting to the
quarter post now that we've got eighteen weeks in the season.
I'm not sure exactly where it falls Mike Harmon, but
we're approaching week four. Week four used to be the
quarter point for the NFL season, so we're getting closer
to about a fourth of the way through the year.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
That's it. It goes by so fast. We have to
celebrate those two seventy two no matter how badly they
may offend our eyes. In that moment, I tered that
fantasy guy that let you down by dropping a ball,
and the wide open spaces are in the red zone.
The quarterback who on a fourth down, instead of extending
a drive, throws the ball into the fifth row all

(01:11):
of those things.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Oh man, and we love every second of him right
hit Mike Carmen up at Swollen Dome. You can find
me Dan Buyer at Dan Byer on Fox. And Ian
Roddy is the show's executive producer. You can find him
at Ian Roddy Underscore. As we look ahead to week four,
I forgot to tell you guys in the last pod
my favorite stat from week three I almost ate wings

(01:33):
on every meal when I was in Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
No kidding, yes, wait wait wait wait what broke the strap?
What was the streak?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
So it well, Thursday we landed for lunch, wings, Thursday
night hot dog at the game, so that kind of
broke it up. Wednesday Wings for lunch, or Friday Wings
for lunch, Friday night Wings for dinner. Then Saturday went
to a spot that was they had, but they had

(02:00):
a chicken sandwich that I wanted to go that I
wanted to taste. It was a cage in Honey barbecue
that just tasted so good. But I tried to keep
a streak going by also ordering a pizza log And
I'm like, I know, you spent some time in upstate
New York, not in the Buffalo area. But is this
like a New York thing a Buffalo don't know if
you've never heard of Pizza Logs. I don't know if

(02:21):
you guys have had.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
It, but no, we're going to look it up as
we speak.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah, so I did have that, but there was at
least a chicken in some sort of sauce chicken in
about eighty percent of my meals that I had in
Buffalo last week.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
I will say I want in on this. And of
course I look it up and you have the original
Pizza Logs Finger Food Products LLC. But they have a
Buffalo chicken. Looks like that's that's a deep Oh wow,
that's not just.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
It seemed like it was like an egg roll or
like a yeah, it was just filled with cheese and
pepperoni or you know whatever whatever your meat of toil.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
It looks like it's like many pizzas just rolled up
into a sewing.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Yes, that's all I can say. Is this. If we
can order this to send to us, we'll have a
box before long. Yeah, baby, I can order them by
the case. Oh man, well, guess what we're having next week?
I get Buffalo style chicken log seventy two in a
pack for one hundred and fourteen dollars.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
It really felt like it was a a buffalo sort
of thing. I don't know if I've seen pizza logs anywhere,
but they were delicious. So even though I didn't have
any on that last I did get a sauce chicken
and some pizza roles. But I'll say this, the wing
nuts that barstool has made so popular magnificent, Okay, truly,

(03:42):
truly was. We went to a place Bob Schmidt Voices,
Bob Fox Sports Radio told me go to this place
called nine to eleven magnificent Wings. So a lot of
places lived up to the billing. Speaking of living up
to the billing, let's talk about players who've lived up
to the building so far on the billing in the
first three weeks of this NFL season. I'm going to
start off first and foremost with Jonathan Taylor of the

(04:05):
Indianapolis Colts. Your top running back right now through three
weeks of the season, and I I don't even know
if it's if it's close considering on what he's at
least done the last couple of weeks of action, but
it is Jonathan Taylor, maybe James Cook and right now.
Everybody else but Jonathan Taylor has not disappointed in a

(04:27):
season for the Colts that has had zero disappointments.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Is they're three and h taking care of business, taking
care of the football. Taylor number one with an edge
over Cook as you say, Dan who gets the help
because he does have some activity in the passing game,
something we don't get a lot of from Jonathan Taylor.
And then number three is Christian McCaffrey. He's been consistent,
not world beating, but you're looking at eighteen seven, nineteen

(04:51):
seven and nineteen are his three totals in half point PPR.
And for all of their fails, and there have been many,
Bijean Robinson don't call him Bijon is number four right
now in half PPR. So you're at least STI getting
a little bit of love from him, but he's a
full eighteen points behind the leader.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
It's surprising to see on Christian McCaffrey to me, not
that he's in the top three, but I wondered if
there was going to be a step back. I thought
maybe top ten for Christian McCaffrey. He went earlier in
our draft, in our long term draft that I expected
was top six, I think was fourth running back off

(05:34):
the board and ended up right now living up to
the billing of what he's done. So I'm a bit
surprised on how good CMC has been and considering their
injuries in San Francisco, Mike, he's one of the few
guys that are still upright. I mean, with Kittle being
out and Purty being out. Maybe Pertty comes back in
week four. Signs are promising that he'll be able to
do that. But McCaffrey being healthy right now has been

(05:57):
but a bright spot for three and forty nine ers,
let alone the production that puts him at the top.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Three, currently tied for third with thirty two targets. It
goes Olave Niakua and then yeah, three guys with thirty
two McCaffrey, neighbors and Ferguson, who.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
You know who else I see in the top that
I was shocked about. Let's at Javonte Williams.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
I've had just a magnificent start to the season.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Yeah, and one thing I just did not expect, well
anything from And then.

Speaker 5 (06:30):
They give the carry to CD Lamb and he gets hurt.
This guy's running chunk yardage. Hey, let's get cute. God,
it's bad businessman.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
There's guys that fall in the draft, and we all
have guys in our league that you just know that
certain teams are gonna take the person because nobody wants
to touch the player with a ten foot pole. But
there may be one owner that's just kind of oblivious
and doesn't care, and it's like, all right, I'll just
take Javonte Williams. My draft board is that he should
be picked at this point or should have already been picked,

(07:03):
and people who did that are reaping the benefits. And
it's a good lesson to just get out of your
own way and doesn't matter necessarily what the name team
is at times, if somebody is falling, just take them.
And I think that those who have Javonte Williams are
at least reaping the benefits early of the start of
his team.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Probably probably a lot of auto drafters reaping the best.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Yes, that's right, that's a fair point. Yeah, that deep
end number two or high end three running back because
he was the leader in the club.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
He's just sitting at the top of the consensus just
for like three straight rounds and finally someone on auto
draft ends.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Up just that's a fair point number six right now.
A couple of twenty point performances, a little muted this
week as that game got away from the Cowboys, but
some early success running the football. Looked like he was
going to have another big game before that went awry.
Two more running backs to close out the top ten
guys have a etn right and allowed them to make

(08:03):
that trade to send, uh, send our guy Tank Bigsby
off to Philly and then JK. Dobbins sitting at number
ten right now A thirteen point eight to fifteen and
a fourteen point eight, nice and consistent.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
So do you.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Still expect RJ. Harvey to eventually take that over or
as Dobbins start to the season kind of put that
on hold in your eyes.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
I think he's got to put it on hold, right
if he's going to be that consistent with the effort.
And then obviously in the eye test, not.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Only has he been producing, he looks spry in doing so,
like it doesn't look like this is a guy that
has had his should I say career bet and labeled
maybe injury prone. That's right, it has been, and he
looks he looks fresh. So if you have those RJ.
Harvey shares, I wouldn't. I would be a little bit

(08:57):
nervous because I just don't see Dednver at any spot
unless there is an injury of Harvey taking over. And
Harvey only had a couple of carries in the game
against the Chargers, which is a must win game. So
I think it tells you early on at least where
the Broncos heads are at and dealing with their running backs.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
And a guy that was always pretty pretty damn good
when he was available to play, right, and that's the
hard part, and watching what they wanted to do for
years in Baltimore, been doing spots there forever. That was
a guy everybody loved. In every camp. It was like,
all right, he's back, he's ready to go. The offensive
lines finally healthy. This is good, and then down he
would go.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Again.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
It's unfortunately now he's shuffling off a couple of stops
and here we go.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah, and the Broncos were dominated pretty much statistically wise
against the Chargers to make it a close game. But again,
he was their second leading receiver. But I think it's
three catches and nobody else was doing anything in the
Broncos air game. But just the love of Dobbins, I
think is a real thing when it comes to the Bronco.
You talked about our Jay Harvey maybe being a disappointing

(10:03):
rookie so far right now, the Ashton Genty story is
something we talked about earlier in the week about just
what Chip Kelly and the Raiders aren't doing. That's been
a surprise so far. And then I'll go on the
complete other end of the spectrum. I think it's over
for Nick Chubb. I don't see the light of day.

(10:24):
Not that we expected a ton from Nick Chubb, but
I picked him up late in a couple of leagues
because of the mixing injury. Sure Texans zero to three
right now, just not getting it going. He's getting the carries.
He had the late touchdown against the Bucketeers, but you
take that away and it's just been an abysmal start
for a name that we were familiar with. So to
kind of bridge it with the bookends there just a

(10:46):
couple of disappointments on what we thought, not that Nick
Chubb's expectations were high, but if you're looking for a
different running back, maybe what he Marx does end up
making a mark later on the season.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Well, but you thought you were going to get a
little bit of juice, like you said with know Joe Mixon,
that you'd get that push and then there was a
lot of discussion of whether they allowed he'd just score
that touchdown.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
So so he had this big run, but it didn't
even matter. A guy that you know, he busted out
in Week three in a blowout fashion. But it's Jordan
Mason's job for a while now. Yeah, so there's a
guy that we'll expect to see more at the running
back position. Yeah, it's the genty thing. He's currently number

(11:29):
thirty three. I think we all expected a little more
of Treveon Henderson to have a role currently RB thirty six.
And then after a little bit of a breakout in
week two, Blake Korum was a non factor against the Eagles.
Not that you expected him to be huge, but maybe

(11:50):
a bit more likewise. I mean, I'm still trying to
process what the hell happened to the Falcons against the
Panthers because Tyler all year like, we're watching hey in b.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
John, We're gonna know, Yeah, it did not happen. Nothing happens.
It was here was a big no for the Panthers
at least in for the Falcons in Week three against
the Panthers, what about wide receiver wise, Puka Nakula again
proves me always wrong. I didn't want to take Puka
in drafts. I was silly, I was I was I

(12:21):
was stupid. I wanted to stay away. I was more
high on Brian Thomas and Malik Neighbors than I was
of Puka and Pukah's right now, in a half point
PPR leagues your top point producer for the first three weeks.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Yeah, getting it done thus far, Roman Don Day I
had the obviously monster game in week two, but currently
sitting as the number three and a half PPR. We
talked about Trey Tucker a bit in the fan in
the Waiver wire and general surprises with his Monster Game.
We'll see if that can continue. But you got two

(12:55):
Chargers at five and seven, right, all right? Jim Harley
had been talking about how all right, I'm gonna make
this guy an MVP or die trying with Justin Herbert,
and thus far he's lived up to the billing number five.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
But the surprising thing, though, neither of the Chargers are
lat Maconkee.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
No, that's just it right, Yeah, yeah, right, good point yep, yep.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
So you got and we knew Keenan Allen coming back
the familiarity that he'd get back to his old form.
Now what that ceiling is on a week to be
the basis right now, I don't care if I'm getting
twelve to fifteen points a week, which is what I'm
gonna get, right, I'm gonna get five for fifty at
a minimum, and then if I get the touchdown and
like you saw in week three, and then I win

(13:38):
Lad McConkie. Yeah, there's a guy that you would have
drafted pretty high right now, sitting at number forty nine.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
I'll say something about McConkie, and I think it's because
of Keenan Allen. When you look at last year what
Herbert had to deal with. So Alan goes to Chicago. There,
who do you find chemistry with? He didn't seem to
have chemistry with with Quintin Johnston at that point, So
you found something with Lad McConkie. So that's where you

(14:08):
always went. Right now, maybe there's more of a rapport
with with Q. You had this rapport previously with Keenan Allen.
So now Lad McConkey. Not that he's odd man out,
but what made him so great last year isn't necessarily
needed this year. And I think that's why you could
see a dip. I'd still I'd still buy low on him.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Like I think that's the opportunity to extend off of
conversations we were having last week. Guys. You know, if
you're looking for the trade market, i'd go convince somebody
that he's he's dog food m hmm, because there'll be
better days.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Yeah, I agree, I think that there will be.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Frame it as like they brought him in last year
to be their new Keenan Allen because they lost Keenan
Allen to the Bears. Now they have Keenan Allen to
be there Keenan Allen. So you know, I don't I
think that means he's valueless and that that's why you
should frame it that way to someone who has them.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
But yeah, that's exactly my point is, like, now you
have this what Lad McConkie provided for you in twenty
twenty four. Herbert had that rapport with Allen previously. So
that's why I think Lad right now is the odd
guy out. I just don't see that continuing, Yeah, I
think at some point, and let's also be honest, not

(15:22):
like Keenan Allen always stays healthy. No, right, you know,
so in a long season or only three weeks in,
it could be something that you're you're looking at and
saying like, okay, I'll mark that, but but yeah, slow
start for sure, at least at the wide receiver position.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Yeah, I'll be curious to see what they do chargers,
that is, running back wise, with the loss of Harris,
You've got a rookie in Hampton, but going and finding
that insurance guard for your offense that you know you
want to have at least some balance, and it'll be
curious your guy. How about Jackson Smith and Jigba.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yeah, three weeks he's been right and it may be
the lad Conky effect in Seattle in twenty twenty five
with Sam Donald. Now, I don't know how much he
can take from the Saints, and even against Pittsburgh, Cooper
Cup had more of a role. But that's who Sam
Donald looks to. And Sam Donald's mL is I'm going
to throw to target number one and that's Jackson Smith

(16:20):
and Jigba. So he has completely lived up to the
billing and I don't think that there's going to be situations,
barring injury, where that changes. I just he's going to
get his and it's just a matter of does anybody
else on the Seahawks get there. As Tory Horton with
the big game against the Saints and the punt return
in his own touchdown, but I don't think that those

(16:40):
are things that you can count on weekend and week out.
But with JSN, yeah, he's going to be there, and
just because of that consistency, he'll probably move up into
the top five at some point because I don't know
if Trey Tucker is going to keep up this base
and I don't know if Quinton Johnston will, but I
know that Jackson Smith and Jigba is going to continue
to catch passes and we'll be scoring.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Touchdown' certainly going to get his target count. Guy to
watch as we move forward, Taekwon Thornton becoming a bit
of a go to as that receiving course. Still trying
to round into shape for KC. They've got Baltimore and
that secondary for week four, so he may be worth
a look. See twelve point nine and fifteen point six
his last two times out. For the others, you know,

(17:23):
some of the big names that perhaps we were expecting breakouts.
We had a decent game from Jamison Williams in Week two,
very muted week one in week three five point three
week three, and that win over Baltimore four point six
that week one against Green Bay. So wringing your hands there.
Mike Evans was off to a slow start then gets hurt.

(17:46):
I guess he was off to a fast start in
week three before getting hurt. But the point being that
you're waiting out of there. Dj Moore forty fifth right
now again, Roma Dunza stepping to the front. You add
Luther Burden, you add a bunch of other toys. Loveland
looked like he was going to have a game before
he got hurt against Dallas Comet with the touchdowners that

(18:06):
ball might have come off with Caleb Williams Army about
ninety eight miles an hour, that touchdown pass to co Comet. Oh,
and then the continued handwringing that goes on. Even though
Washington had a big, big total in the points column
in a big win, Terry McLaurin to this point has
a wopping total of nineteen point nine fantasy points through

(18:27):
three weeks.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Oh, that is not good. He's in the T Higgins group.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Yeah, no, he's right there with him. Yeah, I think
they're tired.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Actually, yeah, it's right there. Just slightly above them Brian
Thomas and Drake London. So it has not been good
for some of those. I would expect Brian Thomas to
have a better stretch at some point. I just don't
think he goes mia. We've talked about it in previous pods.
I like the boost there. There's the Eagles wide receivers

(18:58):
AJ Brown a Devaut Smith breaking out against the Rams.
I know it was kind of a finally, especially for
Aj Browd in that scenario. I don't know if it
is always going to be that way. I still think
that they're a running team at heart, and they just
want to figure out and find a way to win games.
So I would temper my expectations with the Eagles wide receivers.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
I concur Yeah, game to game, that's going to be tough.
Are week to week Yeah, we're looking at back end.
Two's probably highest point. It doesn't mean they won't outperform,
but in terms of that that week to weeks, because
even here through three quarters. You were wondering if they
were going to get involved at all.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Yeah, absolutely, all right. We got quarterbacks and tight ends
that will quick hit on as well, plus a Thursday
night preview as the Seahawks and Cardinals have a face
off in an NFC West showdown. He's Mike Carmon, that's
he and Roddy. I'm Dan Byer. That's next, and I
want your flex. Don't consider it a bonus segment. Here's
what usually happens. Mike and I and Ian Roddy get together,

(19:59):
we have a conversation, and then we put it up
on the pod. Sometimes we have to record a little
bit early because of schedules, and in between our recording
and when the news is really going to happen and
the POD's going to drop, there's news in the NFL,
and today, Mike, there was news in the NFL in
two spots in Tampa. But we start in the Big
Apple when the New York Giants have made a change

(20:20):
at quarterback, Jackson Dart will get this start in Week
four against the Chargers. Russell Wilson is now the backup.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah, it's something we've been talking about for a few weeks.
I know you on your show on Sundays and certainly
on the pod here Dan of that when they'd flipped
the switch, right, it was it was inevitable that Russell
Wilson was just a placeholder. I think it's a little
a week earlier. I guess if we were all, you know,
doing our over unders, it was all right, they'll do

(20:49):
them this switch when it's time for the New Orleans Saints,
which is a weekends instead. It's a big matchup against
the Chargers surging and playing really well right now. But
for the fantasy purposes, certainly he'd been stashed in a
lot of leagues, but now you push him up to
where he'll be a mid QB two to start because

(21:09):
of the connection. We will assume that Malik Neighbors gets
a heavy workload, just to question a depth of target,
because I don't know that we're going to be just
seeing the wing it around like we have Russell Wilson
these weeks past.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Yeah, and winging it around and still not getting into
Malik Neighbors is recent four concern. I'm actually a little
bit surprised. I thought, then, what's the point of having
Jameis Winston on this roster? Sure, like in the first place,
if you're going to draft a quarterback and you have
two veteran quarterbacks, if Russ wasn't working out, I thought
that the process would be, let's make sure that Jackson
Dart is ready. We would have Jameis Winston to be

(21:45):
able to play, and that's not the case. Winston is
going to stay the number three, with Dart now the
one and Wilson the number two. So it doesn't make
a lot of sense to me, and what the Giants
were really trying to accomplish this season if they're now
turning to Dart in week four after Russ had four
hundred and fifty yards against the Cowboys in Week two,
and I know he was awful in Week three and

(22:06):
in week one, but it just to me is if
you were if you wanted Jackson Dart to be the guy,
then just start in week one. Just I don't know
what has changed in the in the three weeks. Maybe
it's Andrew Thomas's health, maybe that was something about it.
I'm not sure, but it just seems like an interesting
time to do this when you also have showdowns. And
we touched it a little about this on the pod,

(22:28):
but Chargers are no picnic. You got the Saints the
week after, but then you've got the Eagles, you got
the Broncos, you got the Eagles again, the forty nine
ers like these are tough defenses that you're going to
be facing in the next four to five weeks. So
Jackson Dart's gonna have a lot to deal with now
as the starter. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
I mean, we've had a lot of the conversation of
the break glass in case of emergency for Brian Davil
and Joe Shane to say, all right, we have to
see what he is to potentially save our jobs. And
you know only you know, we don't have the transcripts
of the meetings with the higher ups from that, but
that's the only thing we can assume here. The Jamis
Winston point, you make Dan absolutely part of the product.

(23:07):
I kept wondering if are they just waiting for an
injury and then they get some sweetheart offer by a
team that's desperate to bring in a quarterback, either for
Jamis or for Russ for that matter, If someone thinks
that Russ can come in and.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
Be that guy.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
I think we've now got several years of evidence that
that last year in Seattle, whatever the numbers may have
been in Denver a bit inflated like the mile high air.
See that's what we do, you know. And the moon
ball is effective against terrible defenses that don't adjust, hi,
Matt Eberfluse, But against everybody else it doesn't work. Right.

(23:42):
He can't buy extra time, which is something that Jackson
Dark will be able to do. But yeah, with that
gauntlet of the schedule, except for that soft spot against
the Saints, certainly trial under fire for Jackson Dark.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Just even the usage of him in certain package play
right was odd. And I would just think that the
natural point to show that there isn't panic and maybe
this is a panic move by the Giants that you
are to your point of break glass in case of emergency.
This is what it is. But if you really want
to show that you have a handle and a grasp
on it, I would make Jameis Winston the starter. But

(24:19):
that's not the case. And either way, now that Russell
Wilson isn't the starting quarterback, I think that it's good
news for those Molikue neighbors owners that were just frustrated
from what they had on on Sunday night after what again,
was a great week two, and Wandell Robinson the same thing.
We'll see how it carries over in week four. It's
going to be somewhere in between of what they did
in weeks two and three. But just yeah, curious at

(24:42):
the timing of this now, Yeah, I have nothing else.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Depth of target has to change, right, even just running
a lot of deep all right, just go downfield and
try to make something happen circumstance because the targets are there.
Just they're terrible targets.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Yeah, I think they're not.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
They're not makeable winnable short intermediate routes. So I gotta
image and the route tree gets carved up a little
bit differently here. Scatabo Obviously we talked about him a
lot in terms of the fantasy pickup, with Tracy being
out curious to see if you get a little more
Devin Singletary given his pass protection skills that maybe you'll

(25:18):
need him. But Andrew Thomas coming back certainly does bolster
the offensive line at least a little bit to give
you a little bit of hope that the young guy
is it just fed to the wolves.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Another note in the NFL is Mike Evans of the Buccaneers.
We knew that he had the hamstring injury, but now
a bit clearer picture of what's going to happen with him.
Tampa Bay Times reporting Evans is going to miss three
to four weeks of action. I'm not sure, Mike on
how much this affects Baker Mayfield in a positive way,
because it obviously doesn't. However, is this a bump for Abuka?

(25:52):
Is this a bump for Bucky Irving? Is this a
bump for Rashad White? As Tampa maybe relies on the
run game a little bit, you know, more more than
they already do. What does evans injury do to the Buccaneers.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
I think you get a little bit of a bump
in the running back position. As just said, I think
White will be a little more of a factor. We
saw him, you know, with a nice game going back
to the beginning of the season. Bucky Irving as a
pass catcher has been very active, so more Kate Otton.
So I think if you have shares in him or
you hate your tight end position. We talked about a

(26:24):
lot in the other parts of the pot on that
Dan of how enigmatic and confusing the tight end position is.
Beyond two or three guys, So Kate Oughton suddenly gets
a bounce, and then we saw Sterling Shepherd take on
a pretty decent target count for week four. He's a
great play because we've seen how in Depp the second

(26:45):
and third cornerbacks have been in Philly where teams have
been able to feast. So for Abuca, it'll be interesting
because he'll draw the number one going forward. Not that
he might not have been doing that soon enough anyway,
but taking this big piece off the board take some
of the red zone efficiency off. So I'm a little
nervous there in terms of how many of these possessions

(27:07):
might stall and become fueld goal tries. But all that
to say that they've drafted well. Eventually the rest of
the bodies come back right when we look at Godwin
and McMillan and those guys that potentially down the road,
we see that wide receiving corps restocked in full. But

(27:29):
for this week and for the next couple, I'm not
terribly concerned. Just a little bit of a distribution realignment.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Sure, and then and then just one other final Terry
mclaurin's going to get a second opinion on this quad injury.
I think we'll find out more about him throughout the
week from Dan Quinn, but he could miss the Commander's
game against the Falcons. And so far McLaurin has been
a disappointment. Maybe should have had a touchdown against the Raiders,
just didn't didn't happen. However, a quad injury could keep

(27:55):
him out of action on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
Tough trying to find who then the next man up, right,
he becomes zach Ertz, becomes your number one wide receiving
Daniels Eckler.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
McLaurin not available to you three weeks into the season,
like crazy.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Absolutely amazing. So what we've got some Luke McCaffrey. Yeah, anybody,
anybody wanted to die them? Look, targets are targets? Are
they great targets? Because you still got Mariota probably under center.
His best plays were done with his legs, So this
becomes a no fly zone.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Well, I'll say this whenever we bring up Luke McCaffrey.
Reminds me of when Jason Stewart texted me last year
and instead of Lad McConkey. I don't know if it
autocorrected to McCaffrey, but I was like, well, we knew
Christian McCaffrey was out, so I thought he was talking
about Luke McCaffrey, and I'm like, yeah, I wouldn't play him.
I wouldn't play him at that time. So when I
saw Luke get it to the end zone, it's the

(28:51):
first thing that I remembered. And Jason's like, I meant
Ladd McConkie, And for some reason, the phone said McCaffrey.
But hey, maybe Luke McCaffrey is the play against the
Falcons team that has their own issues to deal with.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
Wow, we can do a full therapy session on them.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
All right, here's my carbon I'm Dan byer Ian Roddy
is the executive producer. Don't worry if if I Want
Your Flex sounds a little disjointed. It's just we had
to get this news to you now. We wanted to
talk about it. It's ever changing in the National Football League,
and we wanted to make sure that your lineups and
everything that came with it were best suited for victory.
In Week four, We're going to take a time out

(29:29):
and be back with more of I Want Your Flex
right after this. Not a surprise that Lamar Jackson and
Josh Allen are your top two quarterbacks so far three
weeks into the fantasy football season. However, the guys below
them may be a bit of a surprise. Mike Carmen
quarterback wise, what stands out to you through three weeks?

Speaker 3 (29:49):
Yeah, as we go through the three weeks, we've celebrated
everything with Daniel Jones obviously. Caleb Williams for fantasy purposes.
Whatever the talking heads are and do they love of
each other or not, doesn't matter. He's going to keep throwing.
He's gonna make plays with his legs. Caleb Williams number
three for fantasy purposes. Drake may don't have to like

(30:10):
the New England Patriots. He is tied for six amongst
fantasy quarterbacks with Justin Herbert.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
To this point, he's mc guillotine League quarterback, so nice.
I mean, aside from the turnovers that he's had a
couple of fumbles and some picks, he's been very good
stat wise.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Not too shabby. And then Patrick Mahomes for all again
the handwringing of ah, they don't do anything well. He's
making plays with his legs. So he's still fantasy QB
number eight, which is a little bit shocking. On the
other side, we expected a little bit better and at
least mid QB two for CJ. Stroud, it's been a
disaster to this point, to a tongue of aloa. Despite

(30:54):
all of those big weapons. He's at twenty two. Bo
Nicks expecting him to capitalize and keep building on a
great end to his rookie season. He's a back end
too right now, so it's a bit tough to watch
some of these games at this point, is like waiting

(31:14):
for those breakthroughs through moments, dan Ian. And then we've
talked a lot about Marvin Harrison and his hands betraying
Kyler Murray, but Murray's not making the plays with his
legs that used to put him over the top currently
QB fifteen.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Yeah, that's tough when we see the You know, obviously,
if you took Jayden Daniels, you don't have him for
week three. He didn't do much in week two, dinged up.
And if you have Joe Burrow, if you drafted a
quarterback early, yeah, feeling the pain of that, but it
if you took Josh Allen, if you took Lamar, you're fine.
But if you took one of those other guys, and

(31:54):
if you took Jalen Hurts, you're all right as well.
But if you had Burrow and Daniels, it kind of
has set you back. But I think that the guys
that stood up or that could have something moving forward
that maybe aren't there right now. Like I see Aaron Rodgers,
he's eleventh, and I think Rogers' last two games are
probably more of what we're going to see from Rogers.
So we did week one against the Jets. But like

(32:15):
Bryce Young, like we saw him come on at the
end of last season, maybe a slow start to the Panthers,
but now they're starting to roll, at least with the
win against Atlanta. I think someone like Bryce Young could
be a boost up. So if you have Burrow and
you're trying to find that backup quarterback to replace him,
maybe Bryce Young is a guy you go out and
look forward to try to fill that gap. Jadon Daniels,

(32:37):
we don't know a status yet for week four. Again
dan Quinn saying day to day and we'll find out more,
but he should be back at least in the near future.
But if you're looking for a guy like Stafford's numbers
are his numbers and he's a fine play for a week,
but if I want to keep a long term one,
I'd look for more upside than someone like Bryce Young,
who's about nineteenth right now.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Yeah, and if you're looking for the one week play,
we talk about daily fantasy leagues or that stop gap
super flex whatever making plays with his legs. We saw
a twenty point performance in Marcus Mariota. He's got the
aforementioned falcons on the other side this week.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Yeah, what about what about Mahomes? With Rashi Rice and
those guys coming back.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
He's a guy that Yeah, I think there's value there.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
They can't run the football, so it's going to be
on his arm.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
And that'll be the curiosity again whether how many of
these teams get into the marketplace to go try to
find Freese Hall or one of these guys.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Yeah, the Justin Fields out with he with his concussion,
curious on his status as well. I don't know how
many people were starting Justin Fields. But if he comes
back healthy, could expect to see some points at the
quarterback position, all right, tight end wise? Hoof? I mean,
I tell yeah, if you had if you had some

(33:57):
value in brock Boers and you were low up on him,
you're probably disappointed with what you've gotten so far. If
you took value on the back end, kudos to you
because you're probably making Hey, if you took someone like
a Tucker Craft or Hunter Henry.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
Yeah, that's the tough thing, right, trying to figure out
some level of consistency, right, And that's the big thing,
so we don't have the roller coaster effect, which is
really kind of what we've gotten through most of most
of our fantasy tight ends to this point. Trey McBride
nine to one, ten, eight, twelve eight. That's about as

(34:33):
consistent as you get as an overwhelming no. But it's
good enough for top five in leagues where you're still
starting a tight end each and every week, and then
you get the pop up, right. TJ Howkinson gets the
late touchdown. Prior two weeks, he'd score a combined four
point seven points, right, So like that's the thing. Mark
Andrews twenty four points, including that late touchdown in the

(34:55):
Monday at affair against Detroit. That effort is good enough
to catip hold of the tenth because he had scored
one point nine points in the first two weeks. That's
where we're at in the variability of the tight end
position right now.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
I mean trying to acquire going out and getting brock
Bowers could be could be an opportunity. I don't think
that you're going to trade him unless you get some
real extreme value. But I don't know who else you
would trade for outside of here Trey McBride with the
tight end position. I mean, George Kittle comes back, maybe

(35:29):
maybe somebody's like, I'll just play Hunter Henry and I
can try to add value by by trading George Kittle.
But there wasn't anybody there that I would look at
and say like, I got to get this guy out
my roster because of the very the variability that you
talk about.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Yeah, the last couple of weeks, and he's a guy
that I mean, he got paid this offseason, so knew
he was in their plans. But look at Ferguson in Dallas.
He's again what tied for third most targets. So a
guy that Dak Prescott's certainly gonna look you and then
you don't have CD Lamb. The next couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
Got to say that Lamb. So it's only going to
go up.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
So at least for the next two to four weeks,
if not longer, he should retain some pretty solid value. Currently,
tight end number six back to back double digit scoring
weeks go back to zach Ertz. Muted in week three,
but was big the first two weeks with Jaden Daniels.
Perhaps you know the bye while Daniels is on the

(36:27):
shelf that he can get there. But yeah, I mean,
there's just so many others that you're just scratching your head, going,
all right, where's the usage.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
Yeah, Dallas Goddard maybe a value considering. I mean, I
know he's rostered, so at least he should be. And
when you look at what the Eagles are doing for
the reasons why I'm not as high on AJ Brown
and Devonte Smith moving forward, I'm actually higher on Dallas
Goddard for those same reasons because at least his numbers,
he doesn't have to get eight catches for one hundred

(36:58):
yards in the touchdown to be valuable. He can do
what he does and get seven, eight or nine points.
Everybody else is just a crapshoot on whether they score
a touchdown or not. So it's tough pickings for the
tight end position right now, no question all right, let's
get to the Week four preview Seahawks and Cardinals. The
James Connor season is over for Arizona, So Trey Benson

(37:20):
was the name talked about in previous podcasts. How do
you shake down and shape up the Seahawks Cardinals matchup
on Thursday night?

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Mike, Yeah, I mean, first off, when we go to
the running back position, I'd have Benson in as a
mid RB two, tough defense that you're going against, no
question about it. You mentioned Trey mcbrod as we were
going through the tight ends. Well, you know this better
than anybody. Your team does not like to defend opposing
tight ends. So he comes in either one or two

(37:50):
on the rankings for this week, no question about it.
Quarterback wise, Murray's on the outside of the top twelve
in this match, but I know it's at home. Forty
three is the total Seattle the narrow road favorite at one.
But I don't see a lot of starts in this
matchup right. You got Jackson Smith and Jigmu without question.

(38:12):
Kenneth Walker is going to be either a back end
one or high end two at the running back position,
but Sam's not not startable. It's pretty good defense that
you're going up against in Arizona. So he's like a
mid two with upside perhaps, but I think that's it. Like,
I can't start Harrison in good conscience right now with

(38:34):
where this game was. If you want to say, hey,
it's got to work eventually. Okay, maybe flexworthy, but I
gotta think on my roster. I got another option that's
playing better consistent football.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
It's it's completely frustrating. I'm riding with Harrison for one
more week, but it's more out of necessity than anything
right now, just because of Holly built my team. But
you're right, there aren't borderline guys with Walker. Yeah, he's
going to start for it, as you said, Jsn's going
to start, but anybody else really on Seattle and what
could be? You said the over under was forty three. Gosh,

(39:08):
this has seventeen to thirteen right now all over.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
But like even Horton with a couple of touchdowns but
four targets, making the most of them, but it becomes
the things, he becomes rostered. I think he's one of
those guys you pick up and we wait and see
what develops with Sam Darnold and these secondary receivers. Because
right now it's going to be ten or more targets
for JSN each week and then shuffle up between the rest.

(39:34):
At least that's what it appears to be.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Yeah. The one thing that I would say in I
don't know if this is why Seattle's a favorite, but
because of the physical nature of the ballgame. Arizona just
played against San Francisco now on a short week now
without James Connor, I'm curious to see if that has
any lasting effect. Or Seattle and their game with the
Saints wrapped up basically by halftime, and now if you're

(40:00):
looking at the short week, you can plan and maybe
put guys in at that point. I'm wondering if Seattle
is a little bit fresher coming in, but that probably
wouldn't change any fantasy minds for Week four.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
No, I mean it's also one do you look at
bold defenses?

Speaker 2 (40:15):
Yeah, I like I like Seattle's defense for sure, just
because of their pressure to be able to get on
Kyler Murray and you pointed out the running yards aren't
necessarily there. Yeah. Sam Hey, the last time Sam Donold
played in that stadium, it was not good. He was
in a Vikings uniform. Against the Rams and we saw
what happened. That has nothing to do with the Cardinals

(40:38):
Seahawks matchup, but he can't be prone for interceptions at
that point. And if you don't love what you have
over the the upcoming weekend with certain games, I think
there could be some value there for.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
Sure, Thursday Night football, let's get some NFC West.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
Action with the rivalry uniforms that will be appearing on
your screen. Also, as you're planning, had for week four
another Monday night doubleheader, but the staggered start, so Ian
Roddy Jets Dolphins. At what point do you think, if
at any you will turn off the Jets game and
turn over to Broncos Bengals.

Speaker 4 (41:15):
Oh man, I mean, like I said, for me to
be satisfied with this season of Jets football, I just
want to see them not give up. But with that
being said, this is the Dolphins, who's arguably the worst
team in the league. They have to win this one. Like,
if it looks like they're having any struggles against the Dolphins,

(41:37):
maybe that's a little too You.

Speaker 3 (41:39):
Know, well, Dolphins are a narrow home favorite two and
a half.

Speaker 4 (41:42):
I mean total, I just I want to see them
take care of business. I know maybe it's a little
a little bit of wishful thinking, but this is the
kind of game you need to go out and win.
It's a division rivalry, Aaron Glenn. If you want to
endear yourself to the Jets faithful, you got to you
gotta beat the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
Will the Jets be a streaming defense of Ian Roddy's
find out on the next I Want Your Flex podcast? Yes,
Michael have his Week four rankings and not plays in
gold Soores. Ian, I'll have his streaming defenses and I'll
give you some Survivor picks as well. So that's gonna
do it for this episode of I Want Your Flex.
Enjoy the rest of your week. Enjoy fall now that
it's here, officially here. We are in autumn, so it

is officially Football Fall, Friends Forever, all of the f
signs that you can find on any craft store, it
has arrived. So for Mike Carmen and Ian Roddy, I'm
